When someone trespasses against us, we must consider our relationship to them, our responsibility to restore them, and our own self-examination. We are to forgive freely, fully, and finally, and if the individual will not hear us, we must get confirmation from others and eventually bring the matter to the church. If they still refuse to listen, we must treat them as a heathen and a publican, loving them and trying to win them to Christ, but not allowing them to poison the fellowship.
