The book of Hebrews teaches that Jesus Christ is our great high priest, who can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness. He must be a man with a human nature, appointed by God, and righteous, but since there is none righteous, he must be made right before God, before he's qualified to make others right with God. Jesus Christ is a better priest than Aaron, and he is the only priest we need, because he is appointed by God, perfectly righteous, and perfectly compassionate, having infinite mercy, infinite understanding of our weaknesses and sins.
