The crowd's reaction, however, reveals their misunderstanding of his mission, as they see him as a political messiah who will overthrow Roman oppression. Jesus' humility and obedience to the Father's will are evident as he rides into the city on a donkey, a symbol of peace and humility. The temple, once a place of worship, has become a commercialized business, and Jesus' anger and disappointment are palpable. The glory of God, which once dwelled in the temple, is now seen in the face of Jesus Christ, who has come to tabernacle among men and offer himself as the ultimate sacrifice.
