In today’s Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie explains how Jesus assembled “A New Kind of Family” in Mark 3. When Jesus called His disciples, He brought them together with ties that went deeper than any other relation. Grab your Bible and learn how you can be part of God’s family. It’s the newest message from the series, The Gospel for Busy People. Notes Jesus had a family too.  Read: Mark 3:20–21 The hardest people to reach with the gospel are those closest to you. Read: Mark 3:31–34 When we become Christians, we are placed in a new family. Jesus now establishes His new family of disciples. Read: Mark 3:16–19 1. Simon Peter No other person speaks as often or is spoken to as often as Simon. 2. Andrew (Simon's brother) Andrew was actually the first of the disciples to be called. Andrew was always introducing people to Jesus! 3. James and John They were known as the Sons of Thunder. They could be ambitious and horribly insensitive. 4. Thomas 5. Judas Iscariot Greed ultimately destroyed him. Judas is a textbook case of the classic hypocrite. Scriptures Referenced Luke 2:52 Matthew 19:27 John 1:41–42 Matthew 10:3–4 John 12:6 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie gives an answer to the question many are asking: "Is Coronavirus a Sign of the End Times?" We'll take a look at what the Bible has to say about these tumultuous current events.  Notes “A stunning 43% of poll respondents said they believe the Coronavirus and resulting economic meltdown is a ‘wakeup call’ for us to turn back to faith in God.” In the span of 40 years, COVID-19 is the sixth infectious plague unleashed on the planet. You can freak out . . . or you can look up! 1. What is the rapture? The rapture is when Christ descends from Heaven and we are caught up to meet Him. Though the word rapture is not in the Bible, the word harpazo is; it’s used 13 times in the New Testament. 2. Why is there a rapture? The word revelation means, “unveiling.” It’s not God’s desire to conceal, but to reveal. “A continual looking forward to the eternal world is not a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do.” —C. S. Lewis 3. Talking about the Lord’s return makes us want to be closer to God. 4. When will the Lord return in the rapture? Read Matthew 24:36. Scriptures Matthew 16:1–4 Luke 21:8–11 Luke 21:26 2 Thessalonians 2:7–8 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18 1 Thessalonians 4:13 1 John 3:3 Matthew 24:36 Resources Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. Diving into the Gospel of Mark, Pastor Greg Laurie reveals how men of opposing beliefs and lifestyles ended up banded together under the same cause: the kingdom of God. "Follow Me!” from Mark 1 is the latest message in our series, The Gospel for Busy People. Notes Many do not really understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Read: Mark 1:16–20 Jesus now begins to put His team together. They were quite ordinary, hopelessly human, and remarkably unremarkable. Simon and Andrew had been disciples of John the Baptist. James and John, the Sons of Thunder are also called. Mark’s details indicate the testimony of an eyewitness, probably Peter. All of these men were doing something when Jesus called them. If you want to be used by God, get busy doing something for the Lord! Do what you can where you can do it. If you want to be used by God, be faithful with what is before you now.  The disciples were seeing the power of Jesus over demons and sickness; soon they would see He even had power over death itself.  We need to bring Jesus home. Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost. Read: Mark 2:1–5 We need to work together if we want to bring our friends to Jesus. We are so much stronger together as a church. One prays, another shares, God does the work. Jesus immediately got to the heart of the problem . . . the man’s sin. “‘I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.’ Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!’” “‘My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.’ Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.” —John 5:17–18 Read: Mark 2:13–15 Levi (or Matthew) collected taxes for Rome. Matthew was a man who knew God’s Word and turned against it. The faith that cannot be tested is the faith that cannot be trusted. “As He walked along, He saw Levi sitting at his tax collector’s booth.” In Greek, the phrase Follow Me means, “to walk the same road.” In other words, Jesus is saying, “I command you to follow Me each and every day.” “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh.” —Romans 13:14 Make Jesus part of every decision. “So Levi got up and followed Him.” —Matthew 9:9 Matthew knew the cost of following Jesus and willingly paid it. The Bible says, “Jesus was a friend of sinners.” Jesus built bridges to nonbelievers instead of burning them. Are you a follower of Jesus? In this episode, we revisit a classic crusade message from Greg Laurie on what it means to be an authentic believer, titled “How to Change for Good.” Reading from John 3, Pastor Greg examines the encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus to explain what it means to be born again.  Pastor Greg says, “You see, we can’t be neutral with Jesus. This is an either/or proposition. Jesus didn’t say, ‘Hey I am one of many ways and if I work into your schedule and into your belief system I would really appreciate it if you would make me your god of choice.’ No. Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but by Me.’” If you would like to learn more about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, just go to KnowGod.org. About this crusade:  This message was originally delivered June 22, 2007 by Greg Laurie at the RBC Center (now PNC Arena) in Raleigh, NC. From June 22–24, 41,500 attended this three-night event, with 2,471 making professions of faith in Christ. In the 30 years after the first Harvest Crusade in 1990, more than 600,000 people around the globe have dedicated their lives to following Jesus. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie takes a look at men and women of faith, whose lives are recorded in Hebrews 11. These heroes of the faith overcame adverse circumstances through faith, and we’ll learn what we can do when we exercise bold faith in our world. Take a listen and learn “How to Be a World Changer.” Notes   It was said of the First Century church that they “turned their world upside down.”  We need genuine World Changers today.  The people in Hebrews 11 were not perfect.  They are not in the Heroes Hall of Faith because they were great people; they are there because they had faith in a great God!  These winners didn’t always collect medals . . . sometimes they collected scars. They were looked at for what they became, not what they were. Read: Hebrews 11:1 1. World Changers have an active—not a passive—faith. The more you use your faith, the more faith you have. Faith means doing things! Praying. Staying. Keeping. 2. World Changers do things with their faith. A faith with no works is a faith that does not work!  3. The faith we need as a World Changer grows stronger through testing. 4. Where do you get faith? By hearing and obeying God’s Word. 5. Faith can make the difference between something happening or not happening.  It is impossible to please God without faith.  God is not limited by your circumstances; He is limited by your unbelief. Read: Hebrews 11:33–35 6. World Changers are indestructible until God is done with them. We will never know, this side of Heaven, the significant role angels have played. 7. World Changers are never alone. God will always grade temptation to the fiber of our lives. You are not alone in life! 8. World Changers apply their faith and pray! We must remember that all the heroes of faith were just like us! 9. Even World Changers get depressed at times. God made these believers strong in battle, not strong before battle. The first group of World Changers glorified God through escaping. The second group of World Changers glorified God by enduring. Read: Hebrews 11:35–39 10. World Changers are often not appreciated and are instead persecuted. 11. World Changers have a reward waiting that will make it all worth it! God will restore what you have lost as well. Scriptures Jude 1:20–21 Hebrews 11:4, 7 James 1:2–3 Romans 10:17  Hebrews 11:6  Hebrews 11:33 Matthew 18:10 Hebrews 11:35 James 5:17 Hebrews 11:34 Hebrews 11:35 --- Find inspiration from men and women who changed the world with Pastor Greg’s new book, World Changers. Pastor Greg Laurie sits down with Austin Carlile, former vocalist from Of Mice & Men about his journey to faith. Austin recounts the years he spent running away from God and how he came into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Although he was raised by Christian parents, Austin Carlile grew angry with God after his mother’s death and pursued satisfaction in a music career. Having spent years in the band Of Mice & Men, Austin Carlile had it all: money, fame, and a fast lifestyle. He performed alongside Kanye West, Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, and others, but inside he had a hole in his heart that only God could fill. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie gives us “A Crash Course on Prayer.” Discover the different kinds of prayer and—most importantly—why every growing Christian should have a consistent prayer life. It’s the latest study in a series titled Faith 101. Notes 1. To grow spiritually, you must read, study, and love the Word of God. 2. To be a growing Christian, you must share your faith. 3. You need to be an active part of the church. 4. To be a growing Christian, you must have a prayer life. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18). We should pray always with all prayer. God will hear your prayer whenever you are. The word all speaks of the frequency of prayer. 1. Why should we pray? Because Jesus told us to! 2. We should pray because prayer is God’s appointed way to obtain things. 3. Prayer is the way by which God helps us to overcome our anxiety and worry. Prayer is not an option; it’s a necessity! Read: Luke 11:1–4 4. If you want God to say “yes” to your prayers, ask for His will to be done. How do you discover God’s Will? By the careful study of God’s Word. Prayer is not about getting my will in Heaven but getting God’s Will on Earth. Nothing lies outside the reach of prayer except that which lies outside the Will of God. 5. A secret to answered prayer: You must confess your personal sin. 6. A secret to answered prayer: You must forgive others. Forgiveness is the key to all relationships that are healthy, strong and lasting. 7. A secret to answered prayer: Don’t give up! Ask implies requesting assistance. Seek denotes asking but adds action. Knock includes asking, plus acting, plus persevering. Scriptures Referenced Ephesians 6:18 James 4:2 Philippians 4:6 Luke 11:1–4 1 John 5:14 Job 7:17 Luke 11:4 Ephesians 4:32 Luke 11:5–9 Acts 12:5 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. In this exclusive interview, pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie sits down with rock legend Alice Cooper. Widely considered to be the father of “shock rock,” Alice Cooper has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. While he is known for his music career, most do not know Alice Cooper is a committed Christian. --- In this sprawling conversation recorded at Solid Rock (a teen center in Phoenix created and started by Alice), Cooper and Laurie chat about his journey to faith and how he has used his faith in Jesus Christ to help at-risk youth in his community. Growing up in a Christian home, Cooper always knew he needed Christ. But it took a dramatic turn in a drug-induced haze for him to realize he needed to recommit to Jesus Christ or he was finished. The son and grandson of preachers, Cooper knew who Jesus was and knew that Christianity was true, yet he wanted to walk his own path—a trail that led him to the heights of stardom, partying, and befriending some of the biggest names in show business. Then it all changed. His marriage was falling apart and Cooper was in the pits of alcohol and drug use when he decided to quit and get clean. He began going to church and said that it was the fear of God that brought him around, that he was terrified of Hell. Although fear brought him to the Lord, it was the love of Christ that grew him. The conversation also includes musings by Cooper and Laurie about the so-called “27 Club,” various legends of rock and roll, as well as a discussion about depression, suicide, drugs, alcohol abuse, and their power to destroy. This conversation in its entirety is a testament to the power of God and His transforming power and forgiveness—if we only accept Him and allow Him to change us for the better! --- Find inspiration from men and women who changed the world with Pastor Greg’s new book, World Changers. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie explains why sharing the gospel and making disciples is not just the duty of full-time pastors and evangelists. As we'll read in Matthew 28, Jesus gave the Great Commission to all believers. Grab your Bible and get ready for "A Crash Course on Evangelism and Discipleship," the latest message from Pastor Greg's series, Faith 101.  Notes 1. If you want to be a successful Christian, you must read, study, and love God's Word. 2. To be a growing Christian, go into all the world and preach the gospel.  Read: Matthew 28:16–20 1. We are commanded by Jesus to share our faith. The commission of the church is not to wait for the world to show up; the commission of the church is to go to the world. 2. These words are directed to every follower of Jesus! 3. To not share the gospel can be a sin. 4. The primary way people come to Jesus is through hearing the gospel. Go into all your world and preach the gospel. FRANgelism: Friends. Relatives. Associates. Neighbors. "The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend." —Abraham Lincoln 5. We are not only to preach the gospel; we're to make disciples.  What is the gospel?  "The Good News." It's the message that we are all separated from God because of our sin. But because God loved us, He sent His own Son to die in our place. 6. We need to seek to lead others to Christ. Scriptures Referenced Mark 16:15 James 4:17 1 Corinthians 1:21 Romans 10:14 Galatians 1:6 --- Bring the gospel to your world this Labor Day weekend by sharing A Rush of Hope, our very first cinematic crusade. All believers should desire to grow in their faith. But if we want to mature, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that we need to use the tools God has given us to deepen our relationship with Him. In this message from Acts 2 and Psalm 19 titled “Faith 101,” Pastor Greg details the characteristics of every growing Christian.  Notes As Christians, we sometimes don’t realize all that God has done for us. God has given us everything we need to grow spiritually. “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12). “He who has the Holy Spirit in his heart and the Scripture in his hands has all he needs.” —Alexander Maclaren 1. If you want to be a growing Christian, you must read, study and love God’s Word.  A growing believer will always be a lover of God’s Word. Everything you need to know about God and life is found in the Bible.  Hungry children are healthy children. “The Bible is alive; it speaks to me. It has feet; it runs after me.” —Martin Luther Faith 101 Read: Acts 2:42, 46–47  W. E. L. L. Worshipping.  Evangelizing.  Learning.  Loving. 2. You should read the Bible as if your life depends on it . . . because it does! How do we deal with doubt? You believe your beliefs and doubt your doubts. How does God speak to us today? First and foremost, He speaks through His Word. 3. The Word of God is perfect and completely trustworthy. “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). The Bible is God’s infallible Word—there are no mistakes, no contradictions . . . it is perfect! 4. The Word of God transforms us. Scriptures Referenced 2 Peter 1:3 Philippians 2:12 Joshua 1:8 Psalm 119:159–160 1 Peter 2:2 Jeremiah 15:16 Acts 2:42, 46–47 Matthew 7:24–25 Matthew 7:26–27 2 Peter 1:20–21 Psalm 19:7 2 Timothy 3:16 --- Be a part of the Labor Day weekend premiere of A Rush of Hope. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie explains that making an impact for God in the world involves living out our faith each and every day. Turn in your Bible to Hebrews 11 and Deuteronomy 34 for Pastor Greg’s message, “The Power of One, Part 2.” It’s the concluding message in a series called Moses: Water/Fire/Stone.  Notes Are you a thermostat or a thermometer? 1. Moses made important decisions at the beginning of his life. 2. You make your choices and your choices make you.  Moses chose difficulty over ease. God’s worst is better than the world’s best. 3. Because of right choices, Moses was a godly man of personal integrity. 4. You need to look forward, not backward. 5. Moses finished his race well. “A life is not measured by its duration, but its donation.” —Corrie ten Boom Scriptures Referenced Hebrews 11:24–26 Joshua 24:15 1 Kings 18:21 Deuteronomy 34:1–4 Deuteronomy 34:10 --- Be a part of cinematic history this Labor Day withA Rush of Hope. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie takes a look at the power of integrity as exemplified by the life of Moses. How was Moses able to be an influence to over 2 million of his countrymen? Find the answer in Pastor Greg’s message from Hebrews 11, titled “The Power of One, Part 1.” It's the latest in a series called Moses: Water/Fire/Stone. Notes One person can make all the difference. “I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do and what I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do!” One godly man or woman, even in the darkest situation, can make a dramatic difference. Moses made important decisions at the beginning of his life.  Whatever you “give up” to follow Christ will be made up for.  The end of your life is determined by the beginning of it.  “A life is not measured by its duration, but its donation.” —Corrie ten Boom Scriptures Referenced Hebrews 11:24–26 Philippians 3:8 Mark 10:29–30 Deuteronomy 34:10 --- Be a part of cinematic history this Labor Day with A Rush of Hope. Pastor Greg Laurie delivers a Sunday morning message, “On the Outside Looking In,” in which we learn that Moses, the man of God, was certainly not perfect. We’ll gain biblical insight from an unpleasant episode in his life, but we’ll also see that there is redemption for those who mess up.  Follow along in Numbers 20 and Joshua 14 as we continue in our series in the life of Moses: “Water–Fire–Stone.”  Notes Scripture describes someone who easily loses his temper as a fool (Proverbs 29:11; Ecclesiastes 7:9).  When Christians love one another it’s a powerful witness to the world. When Christians fight with one another it’s a poor witness to the world. If you give too many “pieces of your mind” away, you may have nothing left for yourself. As Christians, we are to show love and forgiveness; to fail to do so grieves or brings sorrow to the Holy Spirit of God. Scripture tells us to be patient with each other.  When things are hard, reflect back on God’s faithfulness to you in the past. It’s always a good idea to pray, especially when you are frustrated. 1. Moses was taking personal credit for what God had done. God wants to use you for His glory. 2. Moses disobeyed God. Leadership brings responsibility. God really dislikes when we misrepresent Him to people. The Great Commission is both evangelism and discipleship. “You are my friends if you do whatsoever I command you” (John 15:14). The rock is used on more than one occasion as a picture of God Himself. Jesus is the Rock and Foundation of the Church. 3. Bad decisions bring bad consequences. 4. God gives second chances. You need to understand the power and completeness of God’s forgiveness. To confess means, “to agree with God.” You may think God is mad at you, but the truth is, God is mad about you! Scriptures Referenced Proverbs 29:11  Ecclesiastes 7:9 Ephesians 4:30–32 Psalm 107:31 Numbers 20:10–12 James 3:1 John 15:14 2 Samuel 22:32 1 Corinthians 10:4 James 1:19–20 Hebrews 11:27–28 1 John 1:7 Joshua 14:11–12 --- Learn how you can get involved in the upcoming cinematic crusade, A Rush of Hope, at harvest.org. In this Sunday morning message, titled “It’s All How You Look at Things,” Pastor Greg Laurie explains that the way we view God affects the way we view everything else in life. We’ll get needed perspective and encouragement in this sermon from Numbers 13—in a series called “Water–Fire–Stone” on the life of Moses.  Notes God is bigger than your giant! How we view God will determine how we view life as well.  “And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul” (Psalm 106:15). 12 spies were sent in: 10 brought back an evil report, and two brought back a good report. The Majority Report: they did not see God for who He is, they only saw their problems. The Minority Report: they saw God for who He is and also saw the obstacles and challenges. 1. When you allow fear to grip you, everything is affected. They focused their attention on the obstacles instead of their objective. When you fix your attention on the obstacles rather than the objective, fear will always eclipse your faith. 2. When you allow fear to grip you, everything is affected. Faith and worry cannot coexist together! When you trust you do not worry and when you worry you do not trust. 3. God does not want us to run from our giants but attack them! Communion is for believers only. What does God think of us? How does He feel about us? Is He angry with us? Does He even care what’s going on in our lives? Pastor Greg Laurie answers these questions in this message from Numbers 6, explaining that God desires to richly bless us. It’s the latest in his series on the life of Moses, Water–Fire–Stone. Read: Numbers 6:24–27 Notes We are fallen people, living in a fallen world, in need of help. 1. God loves to bless us. Blessing is a spiritual word. Jesus began and concluded His earthly ministry blessing people. The word blessed is from the Greek word Makarios, which is the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. God wants us to be blessed and happy. Blessedness and true happiness are independent of our circumstances.  You want to live a blessed and happy life? Love God and obey His voice and cling to Him. 2. God will keep you. “Who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation” (1 Peter 1:5). 3. God smiles on you. Not only does God’s smiling shining face look at you, but He sings over you, too. 4. He is gracious to you. 5. He is attentive to you. 6. He wants to give peace to you. We can have the blessing because Christ took the curse. In this Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie examines how Moses models the intimacy you can experience with God. Turn in your Bible to Exodus 32 and follow along as we continue to look at the life of Moses in a series called, “Water–Fire–Stone.” Notes “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:11). Moses offers himself in the place of the people. Prayer is not getting your will in Heaven, but God’s will on Earth. 1. Moses asks for Divine direction. 2. Moses asks for confirmation. “The Lord replied to Moses, ‘I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name’” (Exodus 33:17). 3. Moses asks for the very glory of God to be revealed to him. We sit in awe of the relationship Moses had with God, but did you know that your friendship with God as a Christian is even closer? No matter where you live in the world certain things are true of every person.” “Every person without Jesus Christ has a hole in their heart.” “Everyone is lonely deep down inside.” “Everyone feels guilt.” “Everyone is afraid to die.” But to all of us, Jesus gives the answer: “You must be born again” (John 3:7).  Read more: “What It Really Means to Be ‘Born Again.’” To find out how to have a personal relationship with God, go to KnowGod.org. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. What is our only hope as a nation? Pastor Greg Laurie pinpoints America's most pressing issues and explains why we might be on the verge of a spiritual awakening. It’s a special Sunday morning message from Matthew 5. Notes “To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.” —George Washington “Cursed be all that learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ!” —James Madison “The United States Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any others.” —John Adams We have two options before us as a nation—judgment or revival! “The choice before us is plain: Christ or chaos, conviction or compromise, discipline or disintegration.” —Peter Marshall Salt & Light Jesus has not called us to isolate, but to infiltrate. Our job is to permeate and saturate—not evade but invade! “The world is waiting to hear an authentic voice, a voice from God—not an echo of what others are doing and saying, but an authentic voice.” —A.W. Tozer Salt stimulates thirst. We need to infiltrate, not isolate. We need to pray. We need to preach the gospel. In today’s Sunday morning message, Pastor Greg Laurie gleans timeless truths from the last three of the Ten Commandments. Listen in as he shows us “The Heart of the Problem” and the reason behind these commandments. It’s a message from his series, Water–Fire–Stone, looking at the life of Moses. Notes The Ten Commandments are guardrails so we can live happy lives and walls of protection to keep us safe. Commandment #8 “You shall not steal.” The world doesn’t owe you a living! Steal no longer. Do something useful. Share what you have. The Bible does not advocate or condone socialism. Did you know that it’s possible to steal from God Himself? Commandment #9 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” We can lie by gossiping and backbiting. Jesus said, “I am the truth.” In dramatic contrast, Satan is “the father of lies.” Flattery is another form of lying. Exaggeration is another form of lying. We can also lie by remaining silent when we should speak. Commandment #10 “You shall not covet.” To covet is to be devoured by desire for something that is not yours. Pastor Greg Laurie re-launches his series, Water–Fire–Stone, with an encouraging message: “From Hopelessness to Happiness.” Speaking from Exodus 20, Pastor Greg gives us insight from the life of Moses and shows us how God reveals the path to happiness in the Ten Commandments. Notes God can take all of the hurt and pain we have experienced in life and use it to touch others, and to make us into the men and women He wants us to be. “Hope is the medicine I use more than any other—hope can cure nearly anything.” Water Fire Stone Water: because God saved Moses as a young man from a certain death in the Nile. Fire: because it was at the burning bush that Moses was given a second chance. Stone: because it was on tablets of stone that God gave His commandments. Barely 300 words long in English, the Ten Commandments form the foundation of our legal system and are the heart of the Western Civilization. “It’s not a black solution; it’s not a white solution, it’s not a blue solution . . . it’s a God solution!” —Senator Tim Scott We need to do more than memorize these commandments; we need to internalize them. The Ten Commandments are not obsolete; they are absolute. The first four commandments speak to our relationship with God. The last six commandments speak to our relationship with others. Commandment #1 “Have no other gods before Me.” If the Lord God is number one in your life, everything else will find its proper balance. He does not want to share you with another god. God wants loyalty, fidelity, and faithfulness just as a spouse should. Commandment #2 “Do not make for yourself an idol of any kind.”  Commandment #3 “Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain.” Commandment #4 “Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy.” Commandment #5 “Honor your father and mother.” Scriptures Referenced Exodus 20:2–17 Deuteronomy 6:6–9 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. Pastor Greg Laurie concludes his timely series, End Times, with a practical message from Luke 12 titled, “Things to Do Before the End of the World.” Notes We should be shining lights in a dark place. We are to be watching for Him. We are to be ready to go. We should be anxiously awaiting His return. We are to be working. Watching for the Lord’s return will help us prepare our own lives, but working will ensure we bring others with us. Looking for Christ’s return is not a miserable, repressive, confining way to live; it’s a happy, joyful, purposeful way to live. Jesus is coming! We need to be ready! We should be shining lights in a dark place. We are to be watching for Him. We are to be ready to go. We should be anxiously awaiting His return. We are to be working. We should be praying for revival before Christ returns. If we want to see an awakening, we must pray with passion! The gospel is more important than anything; it’s more important than our programs, our preferences, our priorities, even our politics. In this classic interview, Pastor Greg Laurie discusses suffering, evil, and the goodness of God with Randy Alcorn, best-selling author of If God Is Good: Faith in the Midst of Suffering and Evil. There are two types of people in the world: Those who are going through a crisis and those who will go through a crisis. So before crisis hits, how should we prepare, and how do we deal with difficult questions we grapple with in our suffering? Randy Alcorn says about God, “He doesn’t mind our questions. We should bring them to Him. He has answers. But He doesn’t always have the answers that we want that are direct and exact. He gives us principles and basically reveals Himself and His character and calls upon us to trust Him.” Gain spiritual perspective from this compelling conversation! --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org This podcast is supported by the generosity of our Harvest Partners. Pastor Greg Laurie continues his Sunday morning series, "End Times," with a message from Revelation 13 titled, “Antichrist, Armageddon, and the Second Coming.” Notes God does not give Bible prophecy to scare us, but to prepare us. Your future is bright. Your future is good. Your future is promised to you by God. Jesus promised that one day, He will return.  Who is Antichrist? He is sent by Satan himself, because Satan is effectively an imitator. Antichrist will be history’s vilest embodiment of sin and rebellion. Antichrist will be suave, intelligent, engaging, magnetic, and charismatic. In a US News and World Report poll, 49% of Americans said they believe there will be an Antichrist sometime in the future. God is sovereign over all of history. World history is His story. Antichrist is coming to defy and take the place of Jesus. Antichrist is coming to kill Christians. Antichrist is coming to dominate the globe. Antichrist will establish global control through a cashless society. The mark of the beast is future, not past or present. Christ’s return will be accompanied by sadness and weeping. Pastor Greg Laurie shares a message titled, "Is Coronavirus a Sign of the End Times?" in which he considers whether this pandemic is a wake-up call for all of us.   Notes “A stunning 43% of poll respondents said they believe the Coronavirus and resulting economic meltdown is a ‘wakeup call’ for us to turn back to faith in God.” In the span of 40 years, COVID-19 is the sixth infectious plague unleashed on the planet. You can freak out . . . or you can look up–in Scripture! “A continual looking forward to the eternal world is not a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do.” –C. S. Lewis 3. Talking about the Lord’s return makes us want to be closer to God. 4. When will the Lord return in the rapture? Read Matthew 24:36. Scriptures Matthew 16:1—4 Luke 21:8—11 Luke 21:26 2 Thessalonians 2:7—8 1 Thessalonians 4:16—18 1 Thessalonians 4:13 1 John 3:3 Matthew 24:36 Resources Watch Pastor Greg's exclusive interview with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at harvest.org/live. The Bible says, “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression” (Proverbs 12:25 NKJV). Jesus also taught, “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matthew 6:27 NLT). If you don’t want to live in fear, worry, and anxiety, put your concerns in the hands of God. Philippians 4:6 says, “But in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving . . . .” Replace thoughts of anxiety, worry, and panic with godly thoughts. Train your mind to think biblically. Put God’s Kingdom first and turn your panic into prayer. Application Did you know that worry can actually be a sin? The believer should not worry because nothing touches the Christian that has not first passed through the loving hands of God. Psalm 27:5 says, “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.” We grow in our faith by reading the Bible and believing what it says. Pastor Greg Laurie delivers a message from Philippians 4, offering encouraging words to help us dispel the worries that plague our lives. The Greek word translated anxious in verse 6 means, “to be pulled in different directions.” 1. The believer should not worry. When you worry about the future, you cripple yourself in the present. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength. 2. Instead of worrying, you should rejoice! “A cheerful heart has a continual feast" (Proverbs 15:15).   God’s plans for you are still good and He will never leave or forsake you. 3. When we pray instead of worry and rejoice instead of panic, we have peace. 3 Steps to the Cure for Worry Right Praying Right Thinking Right Living The peace of God will stand guard night and day over the two areas that create worry: the heart (wrong feeling) and the mind (wrong thinking). Why do thoughts matter? Because what we think about ultimately affects what we do. The next time you are filled with worry, try talking to yourself. In this world, we cling to things that matter to us; however, this earth is not our home! Application God causes good to come out of bad, and during this pandemic, God has used this difficult time to bring many to Christ. Odd circumstances cause us to react emotionally when we need to keep our eyes on Jesus and trust in him to guide us and control our path.
