Are we experiencing a spiritual Awakening in America, I think. We are. We're seeing God at work. And there's so many things I could point to. But let me talk about this amazing memorial service for Charlie Kirk that just happened at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
You may have watched it. It had a global audience online of listening to this: 100 million people. And it was an overtly Christian event. In fact, it reminded me in some ways of a harvest crusade. We have Chris Tomlin, we have Carrie Job, we have Phil Wickham.
It was fantastic. But here's what was the surprise of the event: many of the speakers that got up to talk about the impact that Charlie Kirk had had in their life spoke overtly about their faith in Jesus Christ. In case you missed it or want to see it again, check out these words from our Vice President J.D. Vance, as well as Secretary of War Pete Hexeth. Because Charlie believed that we were all children of God, he treated everyone with grace.
And that Is perhaps the enduring legacy of Charlie Kirk. Telling somebody Backstage. That I always felt a little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public as much as I loved the Lord and as much as it was an important part of my life. I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have my entire time in public life. We're sinners saved only by grace in need of the gospel.
You see, we always did need less government. But what Charlie understood and infused into his movement is We also needed a lot more God. Charlie Had big plans. But God had even bigger plans. These are leaders in our government.
Talking about Jesus Christ. I love it. But then there was this statement by RFK, Robert F. Kennedy, where he talks about the impact of Charlie Kirk on his granddaughter as she was going away to school. A couple of days ago My granddaughter.
left for college in Europe. Her mother noticed that she packed a Bible.
Well, and her mother asked her why she made that choice. She said, I want to live more like Charlie. And it's But to me, one of the most significant moments was when Secretary of State Marco Rubio stepped on that stage and talked about not just Charlie Kirk, but the gospel that Charlie Kirk believed and proclaimed. I've known Marco Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, for 10 years, and I can tell you they're wonderful, committed Christian people. But I think what Marco did was: well, that's as fine of a delivery of the gospel as I've ever heard.
And I've heard quite a few, and I've given quite a few. But listen to what Marco Rubio said. And I would say that taking the liberty But I'm confident he would agree. One of the things he wants us to take away from this. From all of this.
is the following. His deep belief That we were all created, every single one of us, before the beginning of time. by the hands of the God of the universe, an all-powerful God. who loved us and created us for the purpose of living with him in eternity. But then sin entered the world and separated us from our Creator.
And so God took on the form of a man. and came down and lived among us. And he suffered like men. And he died like a man. But on the third day he rose unlike any mortal man.
And then And to prove any doubters wrong, he ate with his disciples so they could see and they touched his wounds. He didn't rise as a ghost or as a spirit, but as flesh. And then he rose to the heaven, but he promised he would return. And he will. And when he returns.
Because he took on that death, because he carried that cross, we were freed from the sin that separated us from him. And when he returns, there will be a new heaven and a new earth, and we will all be together, and we are going to have a great reunion there again with Charlie and all the people we love. Thank you, and God bless you. But the most significant and powerful moment of the entire event was when Charlie's widow, Erica Kirk. stepped up to speak.
You have to consider the fact that she had lost her husband only 11 days before this. And he was killed. He was murdered. There's no other way to put it. But yet she was able to pull it together.
And get up there. and make a statement that caused the audience to gasp. Watch this. My husband Charlie. He wanted to save.
Young man. Just like the one who took his life. That young man That young man On the cross, our Savior said, Father, forgive them. For they not know what they do. That man That young man, I forgive him.
I forgive that young man. said Erica Kirk. This is one of the most powerful presentations. Of the gospel, not only spoken, but also demonstrated that I can think of in years and years. I mean, what could we compare it to?
A global audience. And then, of course, this room was filled with significant people, including the President of the United States, people from all around the world honoring Charlie's memory, but the global audience, people hearing this. And what Erica did was she demonstrated. Christianity. She demonstrated the gospel.
She quoted Jesus on the cross, saying, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And when I think of Charlie, And his tragic death. at such a young age, 31. I think of Stephen, the first martyr of the Church, who said something very similar. When he was dying, he said, Lord, don't hold this sin against their charge.
And that's exactly what Erika Kirk did.
So you ask me, are we seeing a revival? Are we experiencing a spiritual awakening?
Well, I've been around for a little while. I was around for the last great spiritual awakening called the Jesus movement. And this reminds me a lot of that. And God's at work. And look.
When God does another work like this, another spiritual awakening, it won't necessarily be like the last one. Each revival in American history, there have been four, was unique in its own way, but they had similarities as well. It's an awakening. It's when people are coming alive spiritually. Young people are returning to church, many of them inspired by the life and tragic death of Charlie Kirk.
People are buying Bibles and reading them for the first time, like RFK's granddaughter. People are interested in talking about God. This is a moment for all of us, a golden opportunity that we can't let slip by to engage people in conversations about Jesus Christ.
So be inspired by the example of Charlie Kirk, be inspired by the example of the significant government officials. And be inspired by the example of Erika Kirk, and don't be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. Hey, everybody, thanks for listening to my podcast. Before you go, I wanted to let you know about the important work we're doing here at Harvest. You know, we've had the same goal these last 50 years, which is simply this: we want to know God and we want to make Him known.
And we do that in a lot of ways: documentary films, animation, radio, television, large-scale evangelistic events, and more. If you want to be a part of what we're doing to fulfill the great commission, you can support us with whatever you can give at harvest.org/slash donate. Again, that's harvest.org/slash donate, and thanks so much.
