David Paul Jeremiah, born February 13, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, is the founder of Turning Point for God and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church. Raised in a pastor’s family, he felt called to ministry during his senior year at Cedarville College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1963 and later a Doctor of Divinity in 1981. After marrying Donna Thompson in 1963, he received a Master’s in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. Jeremiah planted a church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1969, growing it to 1,300 members over twelve years before moving to California in 1981 to lead Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church, one of San Diego’s largest churches with multiple satellite locations, a seminary, and a Christian school district.
