Jesus' arrest took place at night, under the light of a full moon, in the Garden of Gethsemane, where He had often met with His disciples. Jesus, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to the arresting officers, 'Whom are you seeking?' He didn't flee or hide, but instead took the initiative, greeting the soldiers and saying, 'I am He.' The soldiers, terrified, drew back and fell to the ground. Jesus then asked them again, 'Whom are you seeking?' and they replied, 'Jesus of Nazareth.' Jesus said, 'I've told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way, that the saying may be fulfilled which He spoke.' Jesus was concerned for the safety of His disciples and asked the soldiers to let them go. He then said, 'Take Me away,' and the soldiers bound Him and led Him away to Annas, the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.
