The cry of the people is a cry of hope, rooted in the promise of Jesus' return as the King of Israel and the Savior of the world. The Bible says that when our Messiah comes, he'll be right on the back of a donkey, and the people will respond by shouting Hosanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. The cry of the people is a call to recognize Jesus as the king, and to put hope in God, not in ourselves. The Bible says that when we don't have any hope, the world crushes, and our hearts hurt. But when we put hope in God, we can feel the weight lifting off because we realize the Lord promised to take care of us.
