Um I'm Peter Rosenberger and after 40 years as a caregiver for my wife Gracie through a medical nightmare that has soared to 98 operations, both legs amputated, treatment by more than 100 doctors in 13 different hospitals and you can't imagine the medical bills.
Well I've learned some things and I've learned every one of them the hard way. And in my new book, A Caregiver's Companion, it's a journal from that journey. It's filled with hard-won wisdom, practical help, and yes, an ample dose of humor. Because let's face it, if we don't laugh, we're going to blow a gasket. And I've learned that I am no good to my wife if I'm fat, broke, and miserable.
How does that help her? Healthy caregivers make better caregivers, and that's what this book is about: pointing my fellow caregivers to safety, to learn to live calmer, healthier, and dare I say it, even more joyful as a caregiver. It's one truth I've learned, punctuated by either a verse from scripture or a stanza from a hymn, and a space for you to share your own thoughts. While this is my journal from a 40-year journey, you can journal along with me in this book. It's called A Caregiver's Companion, available August 20th from Fidelis Publishing, wherever books are sold.

I'm gonna do something I Admittedly, don't do very often, and I'm going to quote the New York Times yesterday in the news cycle. There was Pretty much everywhere. The Report on Trump having a conversation about this Ukraine peace deal that he's doing, working on with Russia and Ukraine. And there's certainly a lot of intricacies going on, and he's trying to stop the killing. And I understand the sentiment of what he's saying, but here's the quote from a headline from the New York Times: I want to try.
and get to heaven. I want to try and get to heaven. And he went on to talk about it. There was a lot of back and forth about him trying to get to heaven because you know he's I've done some things and a lot of people saying I don't have a chance to get in heaven, but maybe this is going to help. And you know, it was all this works-based effort to get to heaven.
Now, this just flew all over me. Not because Trump is saying it, because I understand, I don't expect him to be the theologian in chief or any elected official. But where's the church? There are a lot of people around Trump who have strong evangelical bases. Franklin Graham.
Mike Huckabee. Robert Jeffries. His spiritual advisor and the head of the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative, or whatever, is Paula White. But let me just put her aside for a moment. Franklin Graham.
You deal with that however you want. Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffreyson, and Mike Huckabee. Where are they? If you're going to share the spotlight of the President, as a pastor. Is there not a baked in responsibility to make sure you're communicating clearly the things of God?
Because that is our primary Focus. As Christians, the church speaks the prophetic word of God as revealed in Scripture. Not one of these You know, self-proclaimed prophets that are out there saying, I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about what scripture states. To power, to the state And this would have been, I mean, it was all over the news, people talking about getting to heaven. And everything was works-based.
And I thought, where was the redemptive work of Christ in this conversation? And it was I mean, it's they're they're crickets. It's just crickets. You're not hearing anything about it. There's no pushback.
And I want to ask you why. If you heard that, and I know the president listens to this program every day. There's so. I'm Peter Rosenberg of whom President Trump once said who? But it's the option.
Uh you know All I can say is, if I heard that from anybody. Not just An elected official. I it is incumbent on me to speak. No, no, no, no, that's not, that's not what the redemptive you are completely discounting the cross by doing this. By saying what you just said, if I can, I can get stop this war in Ukraine, I can get to heaven.
No, no, you can stop 100 wars. That's not what does it. The only ward That counts being stopped is the one that Christ did on the cross. And my question to you is: what would you say? if you had the opportunity.
If somebody says to you that, you know, I'm trying to, hopefully the man upstairs, you know, I'm gonna get in good with the man upstairs, would you say? Would you correct them? And if so, what would you say? What is your response to that? If you could say one thing to the president right now about that.
More importantly, If you could say one thing to Franklin Graham. Robert Jeffries Mike Huckabee And let's just take Paula White out of the equation for just a moment. And you do with that information what you will. What would you say? Do they not have a responsibility?
Do you know how to articulate the plan of salvation? Do you feel comfortable with that when somebody says, Well, I you know, I hope I get to hear of it. I hope I You know, that's one of the basic tenets of evangelism explosion that was created by D. James Kennedy. Many, many years ago, if you died tonight and had to stand before God and He said, Why should I let you into my heaven?
What would you say? What is your response? And this is the dialogue that we missed yesterday. It was all over the news. It was on the front page of the New York Times.
It was all over cable news. I was searching, and maybe I missed it. Maybe I missed somebody, but I was searching. For a theologian, a pastor to stand up and say, No, that is not correct. It doesn't matter how many wars you stop on this earth.
What matters is what. What is the only thing that matters when it comes to standing before God? and being welcomed into his kingdom. What is the only thing that matters? And if we can't articulate this.
Then I question whether or not It is burning in our hearts. That is foremost because I can tell you, scripture is very, very, very clear on this. And I don't know how it's gotten so messed up But there is no ambiguity in Scripture. about this topic. And so my issue is Who is speaking truth to power?
Who's doing this? And if they're not doing it Why not? They have access to em Those three men that I mentioned, every one of them have access to the president at any time.
So, why didn't they call him and say, Mr. President, you got this wrong and I want you to make a retraction? Would you feel comfortable doing that? Would you feel comfortable having that conversation with the President? Does it matter whether you feel comfortable with it?
People say, well, you know, he, you know, I don't know what they say. But I know what Christ said. And there it is, right there in black and white in Scripture. I am the way. The truth, the life.
This show is called Truth Talk Live. This network is called the Truth Network. And then The entire news cycle yesterday was filled with a falsehood. that somehow earning your way into heaven Even speculating about it, and nobody stepped up from the church community of any. platform or anything, and said, No, mister President, that is not it That is not The gospel.
If you could somehow earn your salvation by stopping a war, Why did we need the cross? And I'm not here to delve into the politics of it. I'm here to delve into the. ecumenical and the church responsibility of this. This is the responsibility of the Church.
to speak the truth. the state. at all cost. Do you think the Apostle Paul would have let that one go? Do you think Peter would have let that go?
Do you think Jesus would have let it go? I mean, Jeremiah, Obadiah? Elijah? Ahab called Elijah the troubler of Israel. He didn't like him.
'Cause he didn't say anything good about it. But that's not what the prophetic voice of the church is all about. And again, don't get that confused with these people that come out and they say they're a prophet and they say, oh, the Lord told me you're going to have this and this and this. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the prophetic voice of the church that points to the Scripture, to the Word of God, as revealed in Scripture and says, here's what the text says.
Here's what the Lord has decreed No man comes to the Father. but through Christ. Period. Full stop. And anybody that tells you different.
is spreading lies. There is no other way. This is what Jesus said. ye either believe him or ye do not. And if you're not willing to tell the President of the United States when he gets it wrong to correct him, go out on Fox News or somebody and just say, hey, look, this was, you know, maybe he's clattering around, but here's the serious business of redemption.
I gotta ask you, we just lost John MacArthur. Do you think John MacArthur Would hesitate for one Second. to correct the record on this one. What do you think he would say? And That is the point of all of this.
And if you want to weigh in on this, 866-34-TRUTH-866-348-7884. And if you want to call and maybe even practice saying this in a public environment, Call this program and you say. How do you get to heaven? You tell this audience, how do you get to heaven? Let them know.
I want to hear from you. Maybe you haven't done that before in a public environment. This is your opportunity. You could say, if you have access to this program, call on and say, this is the redemptive plan of God through Jesus Christ. This is how someone gets to heaven.
Somebody says, Well, how do I get to heaven? You tell them: 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. This is Peter Rosenberg. This is Truth Talk Live. We'll be right back.
True to what? Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger, 866-34 TRUTH, 866-348-7884. We're talking about speaking truth to power. We're talking about the church's responsibility to do this.
And it was all sparked by yesterday's Trump's offhand remark. that was reflective of his merit base approach to the redemptive work of God. getting into heaven Is going to be on his shoulder to stop this Ukraine war. Maybe this will do it. You know, I haven't been a really good guy.
Done a lot of things. Been bad, but maybe this will do it. Maybe this will do it, and it'll get me into heaven.
Now It doesn't. Doesn't work that way, does it? And my issue again is not necessarily with Trump, even though I take issue with what he's saying. My issue is with the church. where were they?
To stand up with one voice and say, No, Mr. President. That is not the gospel. That is no gospel at all. If it is up to me in any way, That is no gospel.
How can that be good news? And I wanted to give you an opportunity to state. Your thoughts on this? To if somebody asked you, how do I get to heaven? What would you say?
And if you've never had that conversation, you could practice here on this program. You can call in, practice right now. You can say in front of a public audience. There's stations all over the country that are listening right now, and you can proclaim that. 866-34-TRUTH-866-348-7884.
And if you stutter a little bit, that's okay. Just say it. Speak the truth. And get used to saying it. at all costs because The truth can be.
came to us. at all cost. And he paid that cost. And that's the point. And as believers, as people who have participated in this.
It should fly all over us when we hear people get it wrong. We should groan and rush to the closest microphone we can. And if we don't have a microphone, stand on the street corner and say, No, that is not the gospel. That is not the good news. If we had any say so in our salvation, it would not be the gospel.
We wouldn't need a cross. We wouldn't need a Savior. And it wouldn't be sufficient. We don't. It's all on him.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your doing. It is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast, not as a result of stopping a war between Russia and Ukraine, so that no one may boast. Titus 3:5, He saved us not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy. by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 2.16 Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ.
So we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. This was the message that should have been out all over the news yesterday. and to day, and to morrow, and the rest of our days. If we're not proclaiming this, what are we talking about? And you say, well, Peter, you're on the radio.
You can speak in front of people and so forth. I get nervous about that. That's okay. My wife gets nervous when she speaks. but she does it when she sinks.
And she sings about this. You want to hear what she has to say about this? This is from my C D that I did called Songs for the Caregiver. And I had her sing a couple of the songs on there. And this is a hymn that says exactly what I'm talking about.
So if you can't say it, sing it. I don't care how you proclaim it. Let it out and say the truth and point to this great Savior. What can wash away my Shoot. Nothing but blood.
Is uh What a kingdom. Make me a whole Oh in nothing but the blood of Jesus. He's uh Oh precious is the That makes me white. I snow No one found I know nothing but Blood of Jesus This is all my hope and peace. Nothing but the blood.
I'll dream his arm. But this is all my righteousness. Nothing but the glove. Of dreams of Oh, precious is the flow that makes me white as snow. No one found I know nothing but the blue.
Blood of Jesus. Oh, precious is the flow that makes me wide astronomers out. I know nothing but blood. Of Jesus nothing but blood of Jesus nothing but Love. Half change.
That is my wife and me. Playing on this wonderful hymn that says it, if you can't say it, Sing it. Play it. Communicate that we have to be bold and say these things, even. to the President of the United States.
Matthew 10, 32 through 33.
So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. Mark 8, 38. For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. Luke 12, 8 through 9.
And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God. But the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. 2 Timothy 2, 12. If we endure. We will also reign with him.
if we deny him, He will also deny us. Do you get the point? You see how serious this is? And so I'm asking you Where were these church leaders? Who all stand with him, and they stand around and pray and everything else.
But where were they? The entire news cycle was filled with the story of the president wanting to get to heaven. And where were they? If you want to weigh in on this. If you want to bear witness to Christ and you've never done so in a public environment like this, this is your time.
Call in. It's okay. Call in 866-34-TRUTH. 866-348-7884. You don't have to say it smoothly.
You could stutter. You could sing it. Just like Gracie did. Jesus said: if we don't praise him, the very rocks are going to cry out. What'd he say we beat the rocks to it?
And it's good to practice it. It's good to learn how to say it. Let it Roll out 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. This is Peter Rosenberger. This is Truth Talk Live.
We'll be right back. Through the top one. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger. Glad to be with you.
866-348-7884-866-34 Truth. Let's go to the phone lines. Greg. In Greensboro, North Carolina. I'm gonna hey, Greg, I'm gonna be there next month.
I'm going to be speaking over there in Greensboro. Looking forward to being with you guys over there in Greensboro. It's been a while since I've been there. What's on your mind? Where are you going to be in Greensboro?
I'm speaking at an event for, well, no, it's at a, I don't know if it's a public event, it's for Parkinson's-related disease, and I'm one of the speakers there for this is for folks with medical stuff and so forth. But anyway, what's on your mind today? Um The first thing I thought of when they started talking about the President and him saying that he was really hoping he could go to heaven because of this. But the first thing I said was Well, you got it wrong, sir. He really picked up the way.
A really Tell us uh proclaim it. Proclaim it, Gregg. What is the way? Go ahead and just say it loud and proud. What is the way?
Jesus Christ said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man come to the Father but by me. Um That's what I try to tell everybody. I meet Because We are coming. up from the time of his appearing.
Uh then they're it they're in for a world of hurt if they don't know him. 'Cause he's gonna take us home. To pay you a damn. Indeed, indeed Well, I saw that the Babylon B, which is, I don't know how many folks. Read The Babylon Bee, which is a satirical newsletter.
They came out with a story today. I mean, the Babylon B came out and said, you know, there is a way, Mr. President, and it's God agrees to let Trump into heaven if he repents of his sin and trust to Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The Babylon B put that out before all these pastors put it out. And I thought, that's a sad commentary, isn't it?
Yeah, it is. Yeah. Um It's sad that Like you said, Mike, that could be a Franklin Graham and all these have been around him so much. and not yet had the or taken the time to tell him Um And I he's just relying on his his money and his works to get him there and I've had friends in the past that relied on that, and I tried to tell them even better. You know, it's not how many sets of suits that you buy the priest, or it's not how many.
Times that you give to the Alcoholics Anonymous group is not how many times. You hand over hundreds of dollars to somebody that is just. Asking for it is how many times you receive Jesus Christ, and that is once that you receive Him and allow Him into your life. And let him be your Lord and Savior. Does he want to?
That's all he wants to do.
Well, it I I appreciate you saying that out loud. Greg, and thank you for your comments on that. I've got a lot of folks wanting to weigh in on that, so I'm going to jump to Doug in Ohio. Doug, good afternoon. What's on your mind here?
Well, it just saddens me to hear. I did not hear any of this until you just start talking about this. President talking about if he could just, you know, stop this war and he'd have some maybe he could get to heaven. It just It's mind-boggling to hear that and uh after you just got done saying about all the people that are around him. Why didn't they put a stop to it right then and there and say, Whoa, whoa, whoa.
You know, this this that's not how you get to heaven. You get to heaven by the blood of Jesus Christ, what he did on the cross. Redemption is through the cross. and through Jesus and him alone. I don't care if you walked Aunt Myrtle across the street twenty times and you did it good work.
Yeah, that's right. Aunt Myrtle Across the Street 20 times. That's the first one I've heard, Tuck. I've not heard that one before. Yeah, yeah, but that's not going to get you to heaven.
I mean, that's great that you want to help there, and you know, you're helping people, you're putting roofs on houses for people, but You can't do enough works to get to heaven. Only saved people get to heaven.
So, to hear, just to hear what you just said about all the people that are around him. And there's no nothing coming out like you said about Fox or nobody nobody's catching on to this story. Nobody made a retraction. Except the Babylon B now has come out. A satirical news site has come out.
But I would, I mean, if I had that kind of platform. And I don't, but I I I have this platform and the first thing I did when I'm on the air today is talk about this. And I would think if I was Franklin or or any of these other guys, Mike Huckabee, here he is, the ambassador to Israel, and and and you got uh Robert Jeffries and and I don't know where Paula White is theologically, but all these other people. I would have had a press conference. I mean, first off, you call the president and say, no, Mr.
President, this is not right, and then go out in front of they got they're on Fox News all the time, they're on the news all the time, they can go out there, say something. I'm just grateful Stu Epperson let me on the Truth Network today to say it, because I'm going to say it. And we got to call it out. I mean, I mean, I. I read through the litany of scriptures, if we deny him before men.
What are the what's the impact, Doug? Yeah. If you deny him before men, then you got no chance of getting to heaven. Yeah. Would it stand to reason that an O mission?
is also denying. Yeah. I mean, i there's gonna come a day when you take your last breath You know, and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. And he is Lord. That's it.
There is no there is no option to get to heaven. We don't make him We don't make him Lord of our life, he already is Lord. Whether we agree or not, he's Lord. And you know, when I was in the hospital with my wife, we were there for five months earlier this year, and sometimes these nurses or surgeons would come in and say, Okay, we're going to do this and this, and knock on wood, or keep your fingers crossed. and Gracie would say, That does nothing We're going to pray to the Lord God Almighty.
It it doesn't do anything to cross your fingers or to knock on wood. She said, Leave that stuff outside. If you're going to operate on me, understand this. And she would make her surgeon lead the entire surgical team in prayer. Before they operated on her, she had 11 surgeries this year alone.
She's had 98. She's done this. for 40 something years. And she'd make 'em stop and pray. And That's the kind of boldness.
Now, if Gracie's got that kind of boldness, why don't these pastors have this kind of boldness? My wife's had 98 surgeries, both their legs amputated. Why aren't these pastors having that kind of boldness?
Sorry if I'm getting a little outrage here, Doug. I'm just getting excited up here, Doug. I'm sorry about that.
Well, I'm excited with you.
So I believe we're in the last days. Yeah. Well, I appreciate you calling and sharing on this program. You've said it now, and we can't say it enough. It's it's costly.
It's costly to talk about the things of God. But it cost him a whole lot more. Yeah. cost him a lot more. Doug, thank you for the call there.
I appreciate it very much. Thank you. Thank you. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Let's go to Mike and Dayton. Mike, good afternoon. How are you? I mean I'm great. I'm great other than I cringed when I heard what Trump says.
I heard it on the news. Uh I I literally just cringed and and my sank in my seat, you know, when he said that. And then, like you said, I didn't hear anybody, Huckabee or anybody. I'm calling him out on this. Huckabee, where are you at?
Where are our leaders in Christ saying the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ? And the sin nature in man is the biggest problem we have. And Jesus died on the cross and redeemed us. For that sin. The only way to have eternal life is through Jesus Christ and accepting him as King and Lord of our lives and accepting him and thanking him for redeeming us.
I can't say any more bluntly than that, I think. I appreciate you, sir, for bringing this out, and it's making my heart cry. for our nation and for our leaders. Um please somebody I don't expect I don't expect politicians to be theologians. It would be nice, but I don't expect it.
But I expect theologians to be theologians. Amen. I expect pastors to be pastors. And if you go to where the name, there's a great story, and I don't know how much time I have here for the break here, but Nick will throw something at me. But there's a great story about Alexander the Great.
And this one soldier deserted, and they caught him, and they brought him before Alexander the Great. And here's this deserter. And he said What is your name, soldier? And the guy looked down at his feet and he mumbled out Alexander. had the same name as the king, And Alexander the Great looked at this deserter.
And he said, Either change your name Or learn to be a soldier. And if you're going to wear the name of Christ. Understand what it means. And you have to stand up to power. You cannot desert.
You cannot flee in this, because he didn't flee. He went to the cross for us. Love so amazing, so divine, demands my life, my soul, my all, as the hymn writer said. And you know, and I I I just I'm like you. I cringed as well, but I couldn't wait to get onto the program today.
And I thought, I'm going for it. And, you know, we'll see if the president calls me after the program today. Peter, I heard your show. I heard your show, Peter. And it was good.
It was very good. It was very good. But these other guys, oh, they're so bad. They're so bad. And I don't know.
I just, I don't know. But I, again, you got to ask your pastors to stand up. Amen. We have to stand up as Christians as well. We do too.
We do. But, you know, what did Martin Martin Luther said it beautifully? The body they may kill. God's truth abideth still. You know, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer said: when Christ calls a man, He calls him to die.
Paul said it in Galatians, I have been crucified with Christ. I no longer live. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God. These are things that we have to. Stand up for.
And so it's important that, you know, and I want people, like I said, I want them to call into this program and share that, get used to proclaiming that. Because let me tell you something: when you say it out loud, I mean, there is something about saying. that Jesus is Lord. Out loud. Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess.
So Mike, thank you for the call. I do appreciate it. Yes, sir. Well yeah, um you what with the scripture, you run the race, the win.
Well, I'll tell you what, we're up against a hard break, so why don't we do that when we come back on the other side there? How about that? Yeah. Okay, that would be great. Thank you.
All right, hang tight. This is Peter Rosenberg of the Truth Talk Live, 866-34-TRUTH. We'll be right back. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger.
Glad to be with you, 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. I kept Mike on because we were talking about a scripture, and I think the scripture you're referring to, Mike, see if I'm right on this, is Philippians 3:13 through 14. But one thing I do. Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Jesus in Christ Jesus. Is that what you were thinking about?
Yes. And what is our upper call? to proclaim the the to proclaim Jesus.
Well, what is the chief end of man? What is the chief end of man? Catechism number one, the Westminster Confession of Faith, shorter catechism number one. The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Chief end of man.
So that is our upward call, is to glorify God. And so, yeah, that's it, Mike. That is it. And I appreciate you calling in. I appreciate you standing firm to share that gospel and keep preaching it out loud and proud, okay?
Amen. Thank you. You too. Awesome. All right.
We'll see, bud. Thank you. Carol. In Indiana, Carol in Indiana. Good morning, Carol.
Good afternoon, Carol.
Sorry, I don't even know what time it is. How are you feeling? I'm doing great. I love your Saturday show. I just found it, and your wife is just stunning.
Has it just stunned? stunning voice. And I just think something that's She is quite something, isn't she? Yes, and I just want to say Acts 4:12. For President Trump.
I'm just so shook over this that nobody has. made a response to what he said because I believe he truly wants to be a Christian. And I I just but he's evidently not heard not had his ears open or not heard it yet. I can't believe none of none of his those people have not helped him understand where salvation is. But I wanted to say Acts four, twelve, there's salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.
And thank you for your airtime.
Well, listen, Carol, thank you for doing this, and thank you for proclaiming it. I offer the invitation for people to call in and say it. We need to get used to saying it out loud. That's so true. It shows there's a void within there's a void within the church.
Well, sometimes if we're not yeah, I I and again, I I use the only platform I have, which is this program, and being on the air, but I'm saying it. And I'm calling out and I don't know I don't know who's listening, but I'm telling you this. I'm saying it because here's and here's why I'm saying it. It's not because I'm so noble. It's not because I'm so special.
It's because I understand the cost of his redemptive work on my behalf so much more now than I used to. And it's as Gracie's saying in that last block, you know, oh, precious is the flow. That washed me white as snow. It cost him everything. Go to the cross.
There's a, you know, that hymn, Beneath the Cross of Jesus. Oh, yes. Sure. I'm doing a series on hymns on my Saturday morning show, hymns that every caregiver ought to know. Beneath the cross of Jesus.
There's a line in that, and from my stricken heart with tears to wonders I confess, the wonders of redeeming love and my unworthy unrighteousness. And so that's a boy, that's a hymn right there. And so that's why, and that's another thing the void in the church, I'm a little bit frustrated, is that we've got all these hymnals gathering dust in the church closet somewhere. Yes. And bring them out.
What a great loss. What a great loss it's been to set the hymns, set the hymn book aside. It's a great loss to the church.
Well, I'm trying to do everything I can, Carol.
So thank you for calling in and thank you for listening. And I appreciate your thoughts, okay? And I'll pass that on to Gracie as well. She's tougher than a waffle house steak, man. That girl is, she's got it going on.
She certainly does. And you're well, and I've heard you play, and what a team you must be.
Well, it's we've all in the midst of some of the worst times in our life, we've always had music. And so and Hans Christian Anderson said when words fail, music speaks. And I count on that, and I'm grateful.
So, thank you again, Carol. I appreciate that very much. Appreciate the time. Thank you. Yes, ma'am.
This is what it's about. It's us saying, you know, we're going to stand up and say something. And our first Loyalty is not to a political party, not to a candidate, not to an elected official. not even to a pastor. Our first loyalty is to the One who bore the cross for us.
Period. End of discussion. That there is nothing else. you know Good. Again, I go back to that great hymn that Gracie sang: What can wash away my sin?
nothing but the blood of Jesus. And that's the whole point of this.
So I thank you all for the cause. I thank you all for stepping into this today, this conversation with me to talk about this. It just hit me so hard. And I was like, this is what I'm talking about on the program. And we're going to go for it.
And if we get. People that fuss at us, well fuss away because uh that you know There is, as she said in Acts 4:12, as Carol just said, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men. by which we must be saved. That is the gospel. That is the gospel.
Hey, listen, today is a special day for me. My fifth book comes out today. And it's called A Caregiver's Companion, Scriptures, Hymns, and 40 years of insights for life's toughest role. My whole world changed when I met Gracie. She was hurt a couple of years before I I ever met her.
And She's had now 98 surgeries. Both of her legs amputated. She lives with relentless pain. Um 13 different hospitals, inpatient, well over 100 doctors. I stopped counting it.
And it's been quite a journey. 11 surgeries again this year alone. This has been a a brutal journey for her. And beyond my capabilities for me. I learned very quickly into this that I wasn't up for the job.
But he is. You know, there's a lot of bad sayings that we say in our. Christian world, if you will. Like He'll never give you more than you can handle, which is not scriptural. He always gives you more than he can handle.
He asked a blind man to see, a deaf man to hear, a man with a withered hand to stretch it out. He asked a dead man to walk out of the grave. He always gives us more than we can handle. He never gives us more than he can handle. And our trust is in him.
and along the way I've learned a few things. And I took those nuggets and I just just little quotes. and then I married it with a scripture or a hymn. a stanza from a hymn that really punctuated that principle. And I put this down and then I've got a place for For the reader to jot their notes.
How do you feel about this? What are your thoughts on this? It's my journal of 40 years condensed into one book. And I give the offer to my fellow caregivers as they read through this to journal with me in it. It's called A Caregiver's Companion, Scriptures, Hymns, and Forty Years of Insights.
Life's Toughest Roll, and it releases today. Right now, today, and you can get this. If you don't know what to say to a family caregiver, And it could be somebody taking care of Alzheimer's. It could be somebody taking care of a child with autism. It could be somebody who is an addict or an alcoholic.
It could be somebody who has had trauma like my wife had with her car accident. It could be somebody with mental illness. There are so many different kinds of impairments, but there's always a caregiver. How do you help these people? What do you say?
If you don't know what to say to them, don't worry about it. I do. And I've written it down. And get one for yourself and one for your pastor, because there's somebody in your church that is struggling that your pastor knows about, and your pastor may not know what to say. I mean, what would you say to Gracie?
What would you say to me? What would you say to our friend Johnny Erickson-Tata and her husband Kid? If you don't know, that's okay. I do. And I've written it down.
We've got to go boldly into these places. Just like we're boldly calling out when somebody flubs the answer on how to get to heaven, we also need to go boldly into people's heartache, not brashly. not brazenly.
Sometimes we go in there with tears streaming down our face, and we just sit with them. but we are willing to point them to this great gospel. And that is the whole point. And in this book, I think you'll find The it's But here's here's a quote on Page uh one 98. I think, like the first steps my wife took on prosthetic limbs, each positive step we take with our wounded souls.
is a victory. And then the hymn that I put with that, you'll know it. Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come. Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace. will lead me home.
It's called a caregiver's companion, Scriptures, Hymns, and 40 years of insights. for life's toughest role. And you can get a copy of that. Today. It is available wherever books are sold.
And you can go out to my website, PeterRosenberger.com. Check out the podcast that I have. Check out all the different things or articles that I've written that you can access and share that with others who are struggling. Friends don't let friends caregive alone. It is a hard thing.
There are 65 million Americans right now who are serving as caregivers. Did you know that? Sixty five million. We've got To be bold in proclaiming the greatness of God, to lift our eyes upwards. It's like Gracie, you could just picture her in surgery.
They're getting ready to operate on her. And she said, no, we're going to stop and pray. because nothing is happening to me here that is outside the providence of God. Are we that bold? That is.
Truth token. Gracie, when you envisioned doing a prosthetic limb outreach, did you ever think? The inmates would help you do that. Not in a million. Years.
What does it mean? I would have ever thought about that. When you go to the facility run by Core Civic and you see the faces of these inmates that are working on prosthetic limbs that you have helped collect from all over the country that you put out the plea for, and they're disassembling, you see all these legs, like what you have, your own prosthetic limbs. And arms, too. And arms.
When you see all this, what does that do to you? Makes me cry. because I see the smiles on their faces and I know. I know what it is to be locked someplace where you can't get out without somebody else allowing you to get out. Of course, being in the hospital so much and so long.
When I go in there and I always get the same thing every time, that these men are so glad that they get to be doing, as one man said, something good finally with my hands. Did you know before you became an amputee that? Parts of prosthetic limbs could be recycled? No, I had no idea. I thought we were still in the 1800s and 1700s.
I mean, you know, I thought of peg leg, I thought of wooden legs. I never thought of. Titanium and carbon legs and flex feet and C legs and all that. I never thought about that. I had no idea.
Now that you've had an experience with it, what do you think of the faith-based programs that Core Civic offers? I think they're just absolutely Awesome, and I think every prison out there should have faith-based programs like this because the Return rate. Of the men that are involved in this particular faith-based program and other ones like it, but I know about this one. Are it's just an amazingly low rate compared to those who don't have them. And I think that that says so much.
But that's so much. About Just, that doesn't have anything to do with me. It just has something to do with God using somebody broken. to help other broken people be whole. If people want to donate a used prosthetic limb, whether from a loved one who passed away, Or You know, somebody who outgrew them, you've donated some of your own.
What's the best place for them to do? How do they do that? Where do they find that? Please go to stannywithhope.com/slash recycle, and that's all it takes. It'll give you all the information on there.
What's that website again? Dannywithope.com slash. Slash recycle. Thanks, Cracie. Take my hand.
Lean on me, we will stay.
