Meanwhile, Peter's self-confidence led him to downward steps, including slacking off in devotion, trying to cover up guilt with feverish service, and ultimately denying Christ. However, Jesus predicted Peter's failure and restoration, and after the resurrection, Jesus appeared to Peter, giving him a new chance to confirm his love and commission him to give the first sermon to the first crowd.
