God's mercy is the motivating reason for salvation, and through regeneration, he imparts new life to the dead in sin, making them alive together with Christ. This is not just a past action but an ongoing result of a completed past action, with God seated us in the heavenly places, giving us a new spiritual life, and a new position, a new power that we never had before. The purpose of God in saving us is eternal in nature, unending in nature, and includes the unfolding ages of eternity where we will infinitely more comprehend the goodness of God, the greatness of Christ, and extol him for the love and mercy to be in such a realm of perfect bliss, joy, and contentment.
