Welcome to the jungle. A very good Wednesday to you. I'm Jim Rome. Happy hump day. Alvin, happy hump day.
Hump day. Let's go. Let's go. Program brought to you by FanDuel.
So not only do we have a hump day, we've got our FanDuel segment. James Kelly will join me. Top of our number two because program is brought to you by FanDuel. And as part of that relationship, we have the FanDuel segment every single Wednesday where we get down and we pick games. Big, big, big day.
Wednesday is our biggest day of the week because we tape our podcast and we push that out afterwards.
So check out this day. Nice to have you here. Coming up at 1240 or in about 40 minutes from right now, UFC President Dana White joins us. They don't have a major fight card this weekend, but they do have one next weekend. Dana White will join us.
Top of our number two, the aforementioned big head, James Kelly, our FanDuel segment. Coming up in hour number three, the manager of the World Series champion, Milwaukee Brewers, Pat Murphy. And then I've got a podcast episode. Episode number 433 of the Jim Rohn Podcast with journalist June Lee.
So we've got a big day. Big, big day. If you know what you want to talk about, go ahead and start dialing right now. 1-800-636-8686. Good news is our email is officially operational once again.
Hit me up on email, Rome, R-O-M-E at Habitatate.com. You can find me. We do have mail. That's good. Yesterday, we did not have mail.
Yesterday would have been, you do not have mail. You've got mail. Don't got mail. We do today. Also, find me on X at Jim Rome and nothing wrong with that YouTube channel.
Find the YouTube channel. slash Jim Rome. If you don't mind, can you hit the sub button. If you don't mind, can you ring the bell? If you don't mind, can you jump up into chat?
All right, so that's how we set up the entire program. A lot to get done in the next three hours, actually four, on a Wednesday.
So find a way in. Let me start with the NFL. Frisco fan, looking at you. Starting with you, Frisco fan. Buckle up, Frisco fan, because it's about to get confusing up in here.
It's confusing because it's confusing. It's confusing because it's confusing, and it's about to get even more confusing because we are going to talk about that kook running around pretending to be a Niner again. And no, I don't mean Dajon Love. I wish I did. But I don't mean Dajon Love.
I mean Brandon Ayuk. Been a minute since we heard from Kuki Ayuk. But Kuki Ayuk has finally decided to show up for work once again. He signed with power agent Drew Rosenhaus and apparently will be showing up at the Niners facility on Friday afternoon. Because that won't be awkward as hell or anything.
The quote from Rosenhaus is, quote, Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field. End of quote. Yeah, doubt that. Healthy. All of a sudden.
Like, how healthy? And which field do you speak of? Which field do you mean? You don't mean that field right next to the electrical substation, do you? Because it feels like my dude, Dajon, has a better chance of ever suiting up for the Niners than Ayuk does.
Now, I think we know the real reason Ayuk is showing up. He's showing up to force Frisco's hand and make them release him, which, as we talked about months ago, has been his only available move if he wants to get on with another team. He had to actually show up, actually show up to the Niner facility and force their hand, and now he's finally going to do that reportedly.
Meanwhile, both John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have made it abundantly clear that they are done with this guy. They want nothing to do with this guy. There is no path to reconciliation. You know, see, teams are funny like that. When you call them stupid and dumb for paying you 50 mil in eight months and you mock them and you laugh in their face and you post it, they generally don't want you around.
Stupid and dumb. That. And something tells me that Kyle Shanahan has not exactly forgotten the way that Ayuk viciously mocked and clowned him for his car accident on social media. One IG story said, you can't win the race if you crash out. He posted that.
Another one said, and I quote, keep your head up and stay in your own lane. He posted that. about that accident that nobody around there was talking about, that they wanted to make go away as quickly as possible. The whole thing was so sus and sketch and weird. And this dude's out here doing that.
I mean, pretty incredible trolling, unless you ever want to play for that guy again. And then it's more like burning a bridge right to the ground and then dropping a nuke on the remaining ashes. even back in September when the Niners were completely busted up like they always are and already desperate for a wide receiver this is the way Kyle Shanahan responded to the notion of bringing Iyuk back. I'm sure we'll have to add somebody whether it's a practice squad or to the roster but those are things we'll start discussing tonight and hopefully have an answer by Wednesday. I'll just ask is Brandon Iyuk at all an option?
No. That wasn't just a no. That was a full-blown Junior Lobster Heisman. A full-blown Junior Lobster. Psst, please.
A full-blown Junior Lobster. Dude. Dude, no. One thing missing from that was Rex Lee. Is that a question?
Yeah, I think so. No, no, no. No, no, no. No, no, no. Brandon Ayuk.
No, no, no. Is that a question? No, no, no. No, no, no. I'm going to assume not very much has changed since last September.
And I'm going to assume that the Niners have as little interest in the guy right now as they did not have then. But there is another slight complication in all of this. Remember that warrant that still exists? There's still a warrant out for IUC's arrest in the state of California. If you're listening along, we are showing you on the stream the social media post where Ayut blew by Levi's Stadium at high speeds, essentially filming himself breaking the law.
Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly. as a result of that incredibly goofy post, there are still three traffic cases open against him and a warrant out for his arrest. I mean, can you really trust a dude who not only rolls tape on himself, breaking the law, breaking the law, allegedly, but then posts it?
You're going to trust that guy? And then what if he does get what he wants? His money. Yeah, well, good luck with that. But no.
what if he gets his freedom? That doesn't mean that anybody is going to want him. For instance, remember the dude already bought a house in Virginia and declared himself a commander. Remember, the commanders did not declare him a commander. He declared himself a commander.
How does that work? Oh, by the way, I'm a patriot. He declared his team. They didn't declare that he was a member of the team.
So he declares himself a commander. Then multiple times he shows up on social media posts decked in commander's gear. Even screamed at one point, go commanders, raise hell. Go commander, man. Go commanders, raise hell.
Take command. And take command. The problem with go commanders, raise hell, take command? The problem with raising hell with the commanders is it looks like he raised too much hell. Looks like he took too much command and burned that bridge too.
Because according to ESPN's Dan Graziano, those social media posts trolling Jaden Daniels were a major turnoff for Washington who is no longer interested in bringing him in. Can't imagine why the commanders soured on this guy. probably gonna teach me to talk about something you on my team now you follow my rules boy I'm a grown ass man boy you have to stop running behind your mama and I might believe what you talking about but until then mm-mm mm-mm you're on my team now I think everybody knows the best way to get an NFL contract is to run mama smack at the franchise quarterback. Again, I kook, gonna I kook, which is why it's extremely unclear if he even has a landing spot despite all of his talent. Look, despite all of his talent, is he really worth the trouble?
You would think that any team desperate at wide receiver would be interested because this dude is a very good player who plays at a really high level when he's healthy, when he's fit and when his mind is right. If all those things come together, then you have a guy that can make a major impact. But when was the last time we saw all of those things come together When was the last time we saw that guy making a major impact It impossible to know how fit he is or how healthy he is or what he's like between the ears right now. If you're bringing this guy in, I mean, you're not just taking a giant blind swing. Like the Chiefs, they just signed a bust in Tugger.
I mean, if you're willing to take that heat and you know that Chiefs need a wide receiver help badly, why not take a chance on Kuki Ayuk as well?
Now, to me, I've got a better idea. I mean, I'd love to see that. If he thought the questions for Buston, Andy Reid, if he thought the Buston-Tugger presser was no fun, imagine running it back with the Ayuk questions, and they need him.
Well, they need a wide receiver. I don't know that they need him. But to me, the funnier option is still for Iuke to pull up on the Niner facility on Friday and just act like nothing happened. Act like nothing happened. Just run up on Kyle Shanahan like, Junior Lobster, my dude.
My brother, what's good? Who we playing this week? Who we got this week? Kyle? What up, fam?
Well, where's my man Brock at? Oh, snap! Debo's back! Oh, where is my guy Jed Pork? Yo, where's Pork at?
Yo, Jethro, where are you? Man, Jed Pork and I, you know we're going to get down. You know I got to hit the town with Jed Pork. Yo, Pork, I was not familiar with your game, brah. Brah.
Yeah, something tells me that's not going to work. I mean, I want that to work. But something tells me that may not be the best play. Especially not once he asks the Niners where his money is at. Again, something tells me my guy Dejan Love has a better chance of ever actually suiting up for the Niners than Ayuk.
Dejan Love would have better luck rolling up to that facility, acting like he belongs there. than Ayuk. Look, we all knew what Ayuk could do prior. Look at this guy's Rautry on the sand. For me, being rich, safety is everything.
For me, being rich, safety is everything. Still one of the lines of the year. Look, we all knew what Ayuk could do prior to the injury, but we've got no idea where he's at right now, physically, mentally, what kind of shape he's in. For all we know, Dejan Love may actually be the better player at this point.
Now, you think I'm just trolling Ayuk. I mean, I really don't know. I really don't know that Ayuk is better than Dajon at this point. But why don't we find out? The Niners have a need at wide receiver, a significant need at wide receiver.
Why don't they line up Dajon on one side and Ayuk on the other side and let them cook? That'd be some Jerry Rice, John Taylor bleep right there. Man, Friday. Friday is really going to be something near the substation.
Something awkward. Awkward. And awkward is awesome. Especially as it relates to this dude. I know I'll be watching.
I wonder if Dajon is going to show up carrying the Niners helmet that he bought at Dick's Sporting Goods. Or if he's going to get a team-issued bonnet. Damn. Damn, Frisco. This is going to be so good.
So good. Hurry up and be Friday. Man, I hope they both show up, Frisco. That would be awesome. It's so right, Frisco.
Watch that excrement. Imagine how awkward that's going to be. Here I am, Kyle. What's up, yo? Brandon in the house.
1-800-636-8686. What do you make of that? What do you think is going to happen? What about his mindset? Physically, where is he at?
Is there anything other than a chance or an opportunity to try to recoup some of that money? Is he running out of money? Does he want some of his money back? Does he actually want to play? Has he been working out?
Is he in shape? If he had been working out, wouldn't we see it online? Drew Rosenhouse is taking this on. Why? 1-800-636-8686 or hit me up on social if you want.
Something else that I could have led with, but I actually did my former neighbor a solid by not leading with it. Damn. Right when you thought it could not get any worse or this dude could not sink any lower, he did. Justin Herbert. As if 0-7 weren't bad enough.
Like, it couldn't get any worse than that, right?
Well, other than being 0-8. But that hasn't happened yet. But even though that hasn't happened yet, it did get worse for this guy. And I can't believe how it got worse for this guy, but it got much worse. I'll have that story for you as well.
Also, yesterday was the release of the first college football playoff rankings. And, you know, there's a certain group of folks that are just freaking out, losing their minds. And I'll admit, some of what they did was really goofy. and really lame and not justifiable at all, but I'm not one of those people losing their minds for a couple of reasons. Number one, I know it's all going to change this weekend anyway when you look at the matchups.
And number two, I just, I can't get caught up in that, right? What that is, is just another hot take show on a hot take network where they're trying to provoke reaction and get you to engage and farm. It's just a bunch of old heads doing it as opposed to former players or active players or former coaches. You're just not going to hook me like that. It's just lame.
I mean, I'll react. I'll give you my thoughts. I'll give you my comments. I'll try to make some sense of Alabama being eight spots ahead of a team that they knocked the hell out in Tennessee. But if you're looking for me to rage and react and get all caught up, I just can't.
I just can't. All right, in addition to all that, once again, I've got Dana White coming up at 1240. I've got James Kelly at the top of our number two with our big head fan duel segment. Pat Murphy, legend at 220. And then a podcast coming up with June Lee, episode number 433.
Let me tell you about one of my favorite companies of all time. And I mean this. I use them. We'd be lost without them. I could not run this show without Gusto.
Every small business needs somebody like this. Every small business owner dreams of a company like this. See, for me, in finding Gusto, it's an online payroll and benefits software company that's built for small businesses. Gusto is all in one. It was exactly the thing that Janet and I were looking for.
All in one, remote friendly, and it has every play covered. You can pay, hire, onboard, and support your team from anywhere with unlimited payroll runs and no surprise fees. We take advantage of every one of those things. And again, I want to remind you, I was using Gusto before Gusto became a partner of ours on this program. That's why I was so hyped to find out that they were.
We were already using them. That's how good their reputation was. Go to Gusto.com today and see why over 500,000 small businesses call Gusto their MVP. G-U-S-T-O.com. G-U-S-T-O.com.
You're listening to The Jim Rome Show. Welcome back. Your reaction coming up in a minute. Quick reminder. You know, a few years ago, there was a loss in our family.
And what that was, was a reminder that life is so unpredictable. And that having life insurance is so important. It became a major priority for my family. Protecting your loved ones with life insurance is easier than you think. For instance, with Ethos, you can get life insurance in as little as 10 minutes.
100% online, no medical exam. You simply answer a few health questions also online. And with Ethos, you can get up to $3 million in coverage.
Some policies are as low as $30 a month. Get your free quote at ethos.com slash gym. E-T-H-O-S dot com slash gym. Again, ethos.com slash gym. Application times and rates may vary.
All right, so again, I'm looking for some reaction. In fact, I found some reaction. Romy, I think there's a perfectly good chance Ayuk will be accepted back by the 49ers. Isn't there always hope for those who torch bridges? Regards, Eric in Orlando.
Bergy in Florida. Not the only one saying that, but first want to say that. Listen, we've covered this so many times. He boycotted the show. As disappointed as I was to hear it, given how good I was to that guy for so long, I accepted the boycott.
You know why? What can you do? You can only control what you can control, and I can't control somebody's decision to boycott me.
So I accepted. I accepted it. What if Brandon Ayuk were to show up on Friday, come to the 49ers facility, seek out Kyle and say, Kyle, I come in peace. I mean no harm. I mean no harm.
I come in peace. I mean no harm. I come in peace, Kyle. I mean no harm. I come in peace, Kyle.
These are my two rented girlfriends I come in peace I mean no harm Let go to a boat show together War bombs Quote Brandon Ayuk is one internet crash out away from threatening to ban the commanders if they don sign him War, I mean no harm. See? I mean no harm. Here they come. Jimmy K is in.
Rome, my Chicago Bears are the best team in the NFL. But when it comes to team content, the Niners are the 72 Dolphins. Fake receiver, flake receiver, Crash Shanahan, Jed Pork. Can't wait for my Bears to end this clown show in the NFC title game. Jimmy K in Illinois.
It could happen. It could happen. Depending on how many Niners are left by the time they get there. It could happen. This ain't some clown show organization.
I would love to see that matchup. Jamie and Green Bay, quote, Tom Brady isn't walking through that door to let Ayuk play on his team and live in his house. Ayuk won't even get the chance in this league to complete his Antonio Brown arc by running off the field mid-game. It doesn't seem so, right? Rick and Chico, quote, Romy, Ayuk, and Rosenhaus clearly had this idea at 4.30 in the morning after smoking crack all night.
Child, please. Rick and Chico. Crack is whack. Yeah, I don't think that's what that is. I'm going to put myself out there and say that Drew Rosenhaus does not smoke crack.
Child, please. And I'll even go one step further. He didn't hatch this plan at 4.30 in the morning after, quote, smoking crack. Drew has taken on a number of problem clients in his career. Guys that normally others would run away from, Drew runs too.
Drew's different like that. And, you know, if you ask the question, what does he get out of this? Why would he do that? I can't answer for Drew. I just think that there's a part of Drew that actually likes this type of situation.
I can fix that. I can make that work. I want to show that I'm that guy that can do that. I mean, by the way, how good would that be for his business? If he somehow found a way to untangle this mess and get Ayuk back into the NFL and get him a job, believe me, that'd be the first line on his resume.
And Drew's had a great career. players want agents and reps that will a get them paid get them into the right situations but they're loyal and they will do anything for them and can do anything for them some of you aren't buying it fat kids love cake hey chat i always say hey chat when i see my first submission from chat. Yo, fat kid. What up, man? Quote, Rosenhaus is on the pipe.
He's not. He's not. He's, he... Odom is not Rosenhaus, and Rosenhaus is not Odom. Drew, I haven't talked to him in a number of years, but I used to have him on the show quite a bit back then.
And, thanks, Albie, I got it. and I've told you a story once. He sat on a panel that I did. I want to say on the last word. And he sat right down with a couple of people and me.
And instead of me giving instructions or me saying, hey, guys, here's how this segment's going to go. Or, hey, guys, I know we talked about this backstage, but let me remind you what the topics are for this segment. Drew just took over. Before we started, Drew was like, all right, all right, let's go. Let's have a good segment.
I mean, he just settled right in. Like, that wasn't his place at all. I mean, physically, it wasn't his place at all. Like, he'd never been there, I don't think. And he could not have gotten more comfortable more quickly.
He just has that kind of personality. He's relentless. Relentless. And after all these years in the business, still relentless. Believe me, I'm not saying that he can fix this, because I don't know that Ayuk is, it seems like it's irreparable at this point.
But if anybody can, it's Rosenhaus. If anybody would want the opportunity or try, it's Drew Rosenhaus. praise him paisano 777 quote once iuk goes broke he might need to stay in one of dejan's multiple million dollar houses let's go i like that tell me about your hold on tell me dejan yo tell me about your real estate portfolio what are you sitting on right now dog i own a 15 million dollar home in malibu on the i own a 20 million dollar home beverly hills that i just bought in march last year or this no last year i also own the beach house in south of my before and i own a penthouse on billionaires road downtown manhattan door my dublin home i just bought it so a lot of things are still getting sent over i'm not here a lot this is the house that i recently just bought so you can only imagine how my multi-million dollar estates look for me being rich you know This is my Lamborghini, Ur-Con, Evo. Can you chip me off tender? You're looking good, girlfriend. I'll take 20 grand. Right here. That was another 20.
The Rashard meal is 300,000. I've already forgotten about IU. Come back on Dajon. I got veneers in. It's another 50,000.
What's his little status? I'm going to get the tires put on the whip, so that's why. I'm going to show you the whips, too. This is my bed. Let's see the whips, bro.
It's about an $8,000 bed. Here's my TV. This TV is about $8,000. They give us these. Bro knows how much everything costs.
They just give us that. for recovery. You don't know how much you paid for your bed? Refrigerator? This here is my $20,000 refrigerator.
This here is my gold-encrusted $8,000 microwave. This is my $4,800 toothbrush. Whether I'm in Switzerland, Italy, France, wherever I am, we always work out off-season. No matter where we are. That's my boy John.
No days off, Dajon. No days off. Whether you're on the Amalfi Coast, Switzerland, Croatia, no days off, dog. It's been all type of motherf***ing the Raiders called me, the 49ers called me, the Seahawks called me, the Ravens called me, the Niners called me, the Cowboys called me. Straight to voicemail, dog.
Straight to voicemail. You think I want to handle all these phone calls? I've got Lambos to buy, yo. I've got mansions to purchase. Man, stop blowing me up.
Stop blowing me up. Yeah, it all makes sense. Jay in Tampa, quote, I mean, is banged up as the Niners are. Shouldn't they just keep Ayuk around? Yeah, I didn't think so either.
And 11 Hondo. I can see it now, Jim. Ayuk runs a post, slams into the water boy. As he gathers himself, he sees a cup of water in the water boy's hand, reaches for it, and takes a sip. signed LeBag Ayuk.
On that note, let's take a break. Dana White joins me when we come back. Top of the hour. James Kelly with our FanDuel segment. We're going to get down, see who he likes.
Pat Murphy in hour number three and the so-called fourth hour, the Jim Rohn Podcast. Episode 433 drops a little bit later on today with journalist June Lee. do not go anywhere. A lot of good stuff ahead. You're listening to the Jim Rome Show.
Welcome back. I'm Jim Rome. We are live in Southern California. Good to be with you on a Wednesday. As promised, we are joined right now by the UFC president.
Also the co-founder of Zufa Boxing, Polymarket UFC 334 is going to be held Saturday, November 14th at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Of course, I'm talking about Dana White. Dana, always good to see you. How you doing, Dana? What's going on?
Good to see you, too. How you doing, dude? I'm good, man. Busy, but good. Always busy.
All right, listen, before we talk about this particular card, this does represent the 10th anniversary of the UFC's first event at MSG. Dana, take me back. What do you remember most about UFC 205 after New York became the last state to legalize MMA? Yeah, I mean, we worked on it so hard and for so long, and it was just ridiculous. The reason we weren't there was because it was political, because of the Las Vegas Culinary Union and their battle with the Fertittas.
So when we finally got, think about this. We weren't allowed. We couldn't get in there, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Now, this event's going to be number six all-time MSG.
So we will be either eight or nine of the all-time top ten gates at MSG.
Well, then, that's what you get. They made you wait, and then they didn't get paid until then.
So now you're in. You've been in. You know, I think back to that, Ed, I remember that. In fact, I think we were there not at the event, but we were in New York for it. In the aftermath, Conor McGregor beat Eddie Alvarez by TKO to become the double champ.
At that point, Dana, and you and I have talked about Conor so many times over the years, but at that point in time, was Conor at the peak of his powers in that moment?
Well, yeah. I mean, it was huge because every time Conor would step up in competition, everybody doubted him you know they're like ah he's just you know the hype train's almost over and all this stuff and he would win and pull off not just win he would win spectacularly i mean he finished eddie alvarez in that fight and uh i would say yes it was absolutely the peak because eddie alvarez is a great fighter and uh and connor knocked him out he was and I remember the lead up to that fight and Conor not only was he at his peak Dana in the octagon but out of it too but I remember those pressers leading up to that fight where Conor was just doing Conor and Eddie was just looking around like damn because Eddie was a great great fighter so the main event Dana in next week's card features the heavyweight champ Cyril Ghosn taking on Josh Hokett personally you tell me what you think I'm just gonna weigh in with editorial comment here personally i think that people are overlooking hokett's wrestling background especially since gone has had some issues against some strong wrestlers in the past is hokett a tougher matchup for gone than some may think yeah no hokett was the fight to make hokett's been overlooked the entire time uh not only by the fans and the media but by me i mean uh you know i i didn't like some of the things he said so i might have threw some tough guy at him and and uh and and he passed every test and here he is you know like him or hate him he fought his way to the top there's no denying that this guy uh deserves this title shot and belongs there dan that's really interesting were you throwing guys at him to make him go away or were you just doing it just to do it like why yeah yeah i don't know i you know this guy comes in and and literally starts attacking people for no reason and saying, you know, things that you don't necessarily love. But it's the beautiful thing about the fight business, okay?
So if you don't like the things that – if you don't like what Josh Hoke had said on the White House lawn that night, guess what? In two weeks, you'll get to see him get punched in the face at Madison Square Garden, live and free on Paramount+.
So it's the beauty of the sport that we're in. Dana White joining us. I got a sidebar for you then. Josh Hokett, Henry Cejudo, who is more cringe? I'm not into the shtick.
I don't like that type of stuff. I grew up in the Tyson era. I like when you just be yourself and come out, and if you're a badass, you're a badass. And Josh Hokett is a badass. Hate him, like him, whatever you think.
You cannot deny that this guy is the real deal. And he doesn't act like it. He doesn't act like it. But he is.
So then the answer is yes or Cejudo. Is Cejudo still a badass or just cringe? Yeah, no. Cejudo's a tough guy too. You know, obviously a world champion, medalist in the Olympics multiple time.
You know, yeah. These guys are real guys. They're tough guys. And I don't think that – I wouldn't put Cejudo on the same level as a Hokut. You know, Hokut just says unnecessarily – He's offensive, man.
He says some really offensive stuff. Yeah. Yeah, like way out of line. I see what you're saying. All right, Dana, why are you joining us?
Dana, you see you get a massive fight on the women's side. Massive. Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison, you and I have talked in the past about ring rust.
So as a great champion, and she is a great champion, Amanda. she hasn't fought in over three years how much of a concern would ring rust be going up against somebody like Kayla Harrison that's absolutely a concern I mean and and the beautiful beautiful thing is when you look at this you say three years who else had three years and came back and wasn't the same was Muhammad Ali and I always use him as the gauge for fighters when they've taken time off um you know because I love and respect Ali so much you know and Kayla's coming I mean, Amanda's coming back after a three-year layoff. But, you know, the fight has been moved a couple of times. And so, realistically, Amanda's been in camp for, like, I don't know, a year or something. But she's been training for this fight for close to a year.
So let me ask you this. If she's already, and she is, if she's already the greatest female fighter of all time, if she does come back after three years and beats Kayla Harrison, does that put her in the conversation as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, period? absolutely um and and that's what's brilliant about her coming out of retirement for this fight because you know if you look at how decorated kayla harrison is um you know on on the athlete side as a as a judo olympian and you know a multiple world champion in in mixed martial arts too so yes yes this would solidify amanda nunez as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. Great fight. Can't wait to see it.
Dana White joining us. Dana, so another vet recently proved that he's dialed in. I'm talking about 38-year-old Alexander Volkanovsky. He defended his featherweight title at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi. I mean, Volk's a pro.
He's a pro. I love to do. He's been on the show a number of times. Really love the guy.
So let me just go ahead and ask you the question that you already know is coming. What are the chances we see Volk and Justin Gaethje get it on? a good question um you know i would pretty much do anything for alexander volkanovsky at this point in his career great guy great champion great athlete the big question is what does justin gaethje want to do you know justin coming off uh justin coming off this um unbelievable win at the white house um and you know he's an incredible athlete too what does he want to do next you know they do that fanatics fest in new york and they have like this athletic competition that you have to go through uh to win you know one year it was a ferrari and then i don't remember what it was last year but yeah guys like brady and all these nfl guys justin gaethje won that thing and then uh you know this new uh this new golf league that's going on right now that they're doing on Portnoy's guy. I heard that Gaethje's doing well on that, too. All right, so Gaethje, and on top of all that, as we know, Dana, the guy can fight a little.
One of the toughest guys ever. One of my favorite guys in a promotion ever, if not my favorite guy. Love him.
So to answer your question, you put it rhetorically, what does the guy want to do? Who does he want to fight? Where's his head at? I don't know yet. He's in the middle of this golf thing that Portnoy's doing.
And then, you know, we're talking to him, but we'll figure it out. He's going to have to pull the trigger one way or the other, see if he wants to retire or continue to fight. Dana White joining us. He does love golf. We know that.
So, you and I, last time you came on, we talked about a few other things. Ilya Teporia recently posted a pic on the gram. Dana, the caption was, the Matador is coming back. Is there something in the works with Teporia? When can we expect him back?
Yeah, in 27.
So he'll come back in early 27, and we're working on that too.
So, yeah. I mean, that entire lightweight division, you got Gaethje, Teporia, Armid Sarukian, Oliveira, Patty Pimblitt, Holloway. I mean, the whole top ten is straight killers.
So it's the best and the most badass division we have right now. Yeah, it is.
So who would you like to see? I was going to say, if you were a betting man, and you do sometimes, Dana, you bet sometimes. If you were a betting man, who is he most likely to fight? Patty, Gaethje, Armand, Holloway? What makes the most sense to you?
Here's what I'm not going to say. I'm not going to give you a name and then all these idiot Instagram frigging things out there. Oh, he said he's fighting him. That's what we do, Dana. Dana, we've gotten really good at that, man.
We've gotten really good at that on this show. Will you give me a name and all these idiot bloggers put it out there? Exactly. Drives me mental. That's pretty funny, man.
That's pretty funny. Let me ask you. All right. You can't blame a guy for trying. It always works.
No. It didn't work. I'll try again next time. Let me ask you one thing. We talked last time you came on about Gable Stevenson and his upside, right?
And then he gets knocked out in 12 seconds. That'll happen in your sport. Sean Sheriff caught him. Given that pretty much everybody, Dana, loses at some point, How do you think that Gable bounces back to this adversity early in his career? That's a good question.
I mean, listen, he's a competitor. You know, he's been competing his whole life. You know, so I wouldn't say that, oh, my God, this is completely damaging to him. But on the flip side, you know, when you know that your chin isn't maybe what you thought it might be, it definitely affects you in the in the fight business which is way different than wrestling maybe somebody got you in a technique or you slipped up you did this and that but when that chin gets popped and you go it can mess with you mentally for sure Dana White joining us Pauling Market UFC 334 is November 14th so that's the following Saturday at Madison Square Garden is giving me another great card Dana always good to see you thanks for making time. Appreciate you.
Thanks for having me, brother.
Alright, you too, Dana. Great to see you. Dana White, coming in. That's funny to me. Tell you what I'm not going to do.
I'm not going to give you a name this time, so those idiots in the blogs can run with it.
Alright, so my thanks to Dana White. When we come back, James Kelly. React to any of that if you want. James Kelly will join me for our FanDuel segment. We do that on Wednesdays, where James Kelly comes in.
We're going to break down a lot of action. And again, the question everybody wants to know, is Dennis Allen Jim on or off of the list? We'll hit that and some games next. The U.S.
