So, what do you say if you know what you want to talk about? It's actually one of those rare days where you can get on the air twice. Normally, it's challenging enough to get on once, but you can get on twice. Actually, more than that, but twice anyway, because it is a beef day.
So, if you want to get in here with your take on anything at all, you can do that first, and then if you have a beef on top of that, you can do that.
Now we're number three, or if you want to take a shot, nobody's ever done this. If you want to try to take a shot and get in three different times. You can do that.
Well, actually, that's been done, but nobody's ever been racked three times in one day. Anyway, that's on the table. Telephone number is one eight zero zero six three six eight six eight six. You can hit me up on X at Jim Rome. You can email me at RomeRome at HaveTake dot com.
And yes, we have a YouTube channel. Yes, we have a chat function within that YouTube channel.
So if you get to YouTube slash Jim Rome, if you don't mind hitting that sub button down there below, and then ringing the bell, and then jumping up and chat, that'd be awesome. And once again, if you want to be a distinguished clone, you can do that too. Best part about that—that's not something you earn. That's something you buy. That is not something you earn.
That is something you buy.
So you can buy your way into the club. Buck ninety nine a month. All right, so what we have today coming up at twelve forty, talk some college ball. Cole Kubalek, SEC Network game analyst, will be joining us. That's forty minutes from right now.
Then, in the middle of hour number two, a running back for the Arizona Cardinals, Tyler Algier. By the way, your NFC Offensive Player of the Week. Coming up at the top of hour number three, the beef segment. Think about what it is you want to beef about. And I've got a podcast which I did yesterday.
I want to mention that off the very top because it's really good. Don't check it out right now while we're live, but check it out when you have time—maybe after the program, maybe on the way home, maybe at the gym. Whenever you consume that content, episode number four hundred and thirty-three with journalist June Lee—really, really good, really good conversation.
So keep that in mind. All right. All that said, I want to start right here. I want to start with the aftershocks of that nuke that our guy Quentin Lake dropped right on Justin Herbert's head are still reverberating around the NFL. I mean, just when it seemed impossible that things could get any uglier or any more humiliating for Herbert and the Chargers this season, my dude Q.
Comes flying in off the top rope with deli meat and seeing ghost smack. If you missed it yesterday, Q went on the St. Brown podcast and he gave a very honest assessment of where Herbert is right now. And if you notice, that wasn't even really the question. His former high school teammate Amon Ra could not have been any more broad in posing the question.
A question about the game over the past weekend and the season thus far. Q, though, could not have been any more specific in the way he answered about just how messed up Justin Herbert is right now. I want to get to you, Q. Coming off a big Dove versus the Chargers, obviously you got a pick against Justin Herbert. How do you feel about the season so far?
That game, like, talk me through it. Uh, I mean, he was throwing deli meat out there. Was he, bro? He's seeing ghosts. I'm not going, bro.
I don't know what's going on, but like, we knew we were gonna get a couple. Like that was, we knew we were gonna cut at least one.
So, um, but.
So, if you are listening on the radio, you can hear it. If you are watching on the stream, I am watching it and I've seen it several times. I don't know of the three whose reaction I like best. They all react to it, all of them, all differently, but all of them.
So that right there is one of the all-time active player on active QB verbal takedowns. Even Reek won. Calling Russit Wilson a sack of potatoes. Can't believe how brutal that that was. Like a sack of potatoes.
That is still hilarious. Kind of has that same energy, right? Except that Q is different. Reek is like that. Reek was a rookie.
Q's not like that. And Q's a vet. And a leader, and polished, and he's not exactly week one. Q was not exactly a notorious smack talker or lava monger, which just makes that scud that he launched at Herbert even more brutal. Deli meat and seeing ghosts—that is straight fire.
Like that's not good smack for a guy like that. That's legendary smack. Period. That's about as brutal as it gets when assessing quarterback play. But, but it's also the exact opposite of what another guy is saying, who I also respect and admire, Will Anderson Jr.
The same Will Anderson who is going to face Herbert and the Chargers on Sunday. The following clip wound up getting about as much media attention, or social media attention, as Quinton Lake's deli meat smack. Even though Will Anderson's take could not have been any different. In fact, it was the polar opposite. He's still a really great quarterback in this league.
You talk about a big guy who has a big arm that can run around, that can throw the ball deep, makes a lot of plays with his legs. He's still, you know, a very respectable player in this league, and we have a ton of respect for them. As far as scheme, you know, we're gonna probably see a lot of bounce. You know, McDonald's he's went against this defense a lot of times, coached against this defense was at San Fran, I believe.
So we know what to expect a little bit. But Herbert, man, he's playing out of his mind. They have a really great, solid old line as well, and some really good running backs that can get down. He'll that can hit the perimeter, so it's going to be a good challenge for us. Will, you know, you're not playing the Bills and Josh Allen, right?
You know that you were not asked about John Elway in his prime, right? Like none of that's true. None of that is true. My man's incredible. Like so, Will Anderson, we already know is not only one of the best players, but one of the best guys in the NFL.
We know this. But here's my question: because none of that is true, so that's either the most generous answer ever, or the most sarcastic answer ever. But he's not that dude, right? Is Will just being that nice, or is Will actually trolling that dude that hard? Because if he is, that's twice in one week that Herbert has been annihilated.
I just don't think the Will has that in him. I don't know though. Will is no dummy. I mean, I'm going to assume that Will Anderson knows they are playing the Chargers. I'm going to assume that Will Anderson knows that the Chargers are 0 and seven, and that Herbert is struggling mightily and throwing deli meat out here and seeing ghosts.
I'm going to assume that Will does not. I actually think that Herbert is playing quote out of his mind. I mean, Will is a great, great dude, but no one is that good of a dude, and no one thinks that Herbert is playing out of his mind, unless he meant it literally. Like Herbert is playing like he lost his damn mind, like Herbert is playing like somebody whose brain fell out his head. If he meant out of his mind, like the dude is schizo and seeing ghosts, then sure, he's playing out of his mind.
But hey, I don't know. Maybe Will was somehow being serious. Maybe he just disagrees vehemently with Quinton Lake, because obviously it cannot be both these things. A guy can't both be throwing deli meat and seeing ghosts, but also playing out of his mind. Not entirely sure what to make of those comments, but I am sure who I don't believe.
Not for a second.
Now it'd be Jim Harbaugh, who continues to look and sound catatonic from the podium. I get it. Nobody enjoys being zero and seven. But what happened to his trademark enthusiasm, unknown to mankind? Enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
Where is that? What happened to that guy? Where is that? Where is that enthusiasm unknown to mankind? Hard to really put much faith in what a flatline, near comatose, catatonic dude says about his imploding quarterback.
But here is how Harbaugh responded to Quinton Lake's take when he was asked about it yesterday. As far as anybody's opinion, I mean, I don't see that. Everybody's everybody's entitled to their opinion. It's not what I see. No.
What do you see from? I thought like past game. I thought he played, did his job exceptionally well. You know, two throws he would have liked to add back. It just kind of vibes of.
I don't have a lot of smack today, really. Did doesn't it? Didn't it sound like that? You know, Romy, I don't have a lot of smack today. On this, the day of the smack off.
Quote: He did his job exceptionally well. I like to wish everybody out there very happy holiday, and and I don't really have a whole lot of smack to say today. It's a, it's a holiday. I just made an exception. I just made a call that was well.
I did exceptionally well. He said that. I want to wish everybody and their families a happy holiday. Yeah, I got that, Albie. When asked about what Quinton Lake said about Justin Herbert, he said, "I think he did his job exceptionally well.
Really, you think he did his job exceptionally well? Hey, Jim, that's like saying you're doing your job exceptionally well. He did his job exceptionally well." Wow! Neither of you are doing your job exceptionally well. You saying that he did his job exceptionally well—that that's a take more horrible to any known to mankind.
What kind of a take is that? He threw two horrible interceptions, didn't put a TD on the board, and only made one trip inside the Rams' red zone. That's a quarterback playing exceptionally well. Exceptionally well. The Chargers' offense has gone twenty-seven straight possessions without a touchdown.
Butcher, the quarterback's playing out of his mind and exceptionally well. Do you know when their last touchdown was? The Chargers' last touchdown was on October eleventh. It's now November fifth. Butcher.
The quarterback's just absolutely crushing it. That take is almost as messed up as declaring that this same quarterback is going to go down as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Jacked up, considering he's currently having one of the worst seasons in NFL history. We can't just act like this guy's doing just fine, much less exceptionally well, when he's having the exact same season as the Koo Gunner, Zach Wilson, did his rookie season.
Somehow, Harbaugh's smack-off call with no smack was more reasonable and made more sense than his take that Herbert is playing exceptionally well. Exceptionally well, and I love Will Anderson, so I want to believe that he was just blowing smoke. And trying not to give any bulletin board material, I want to believe that Will Anderson understands how momentous this game is for Houston and what a complete catastrophe losing to these guys would be. Because if Will actually thinks that Herbert's playing out of his mind, then my guy Will is the one who's actually out of his mind. Clearly, Quinton Lake is the only one making sense right now, and he's telling it like it is.
Because clearly Herbert is a mess, and the reason for that is he's out here throwing deli meat and seeing ghosts, which is also why the Chargers are zero to seven, and Herbert has the worst, worst QBR in the NFL.
So say it with me now, Jimbo, because you clearly need the juice. Who's got a worse QBR than your dude, Herbo? Nobody. And who's got it better than you guys? Everybody.
Damn, dude. Do something. Anything. Hell, Jimmy, be a provocateur. Two throws he would like to have back.
Man, dude, where is your energy? Man, somebody take the paddles to that guy. Crazy. All right, so you got that game here in LA. Nick the Clone bringing his team in.
I'm going to say that right there, without question, is the biggest two and five v zero and seven. Game between teams in the history of the jungle. That in and of itself is kind of a jungle Super Bowl. Two and five, you zero and seven. Man, big time jungle stakes, big big stakes.
And who knows? I mean, if Lorne gets on the field before the game, the stakes are even larger. This one's big now. This one's big. All right, see your reaction any of it.
Seattown, Shitornation. Here we go again. Here we go again. It has not been the best week for the Prime family when it comes to media engagement, has it? Between Coach Prime not knowing the name of any of his top three running backs.
And Shador doing whatever it is the hell he was doing yesterday, and yeah, I know, I know. Let me get out in front of it, Shador Nation, before you come running up in here and talk about how cool it was, how funny it was, how different it was, how fresh it was, how entertaining it was. It was actually none of those things. I mean, I hate to spoil the actual take, but it really was none of those things. Not for an NFL quarterback.
You could not have handled that any worse, my man. I hope you play better than you showed at the podium, because that could not have gone any worse or been any more cringe. But we'll get into all that too. And I know you feel differently, shit or nation. Yeah, I mean, you think that guy was actually awesome.
I know you. I know what you think before you think it. Dude, what an incredible performance!
Now that's how you handle your business. That's what you do. That's how you handle the Cleveland media that hates your guts. You show them. Keep doing you.
Actually, dude, stop doing you. Just, just go make plays. That's the only thing that's going to fix that. Go make plays and win that game. Because that actually, believe it or not.
Shador Nation, that could not have gone any worse for you, dude. Oh, Wimby, gotta get to Wimby. If a guy's gonna go fifty plus twenty plus eight, you can't not talk about that, Wimby. Can you imagine a guy going fifty plus twenty plus eight and only winning by one? Can you imagine what it would have been like to waste that performance?
What if they lost that game, and they could have? But they didn't.
So I've got thoughts on Wimby. Haven't talked about Wimby in a minute. All right. So we're talking college ball, big weekend. The college football playoff standings are out for the first time.
Like, doesn't matter. Not getting worked up about it. I mean, I'll talk about it, but not getting that worked up about it because there are a number of key matchups this weekend, and it's all going to change. Malachi Tony. High ankle sprain requiring surgery.
Bad, bad, bad break. Not only for the Canes, if you ask me, but really for all of college football. Honestly, who's that one dominant standout college player that is separated from the pack? There isn't one this year. Who is that one dominant standout college team that is separated from the pack this year?
There isn't one, so this is not good for anybody. That that guy just went down and is going to miss four to six weeks, and certainly not good for them on the eve of their game against Notre Dame. And Notre Dame, which was already in a must-win situation, they were already in a must-win game against Miami. If they were a must-win game before that. Then what would you call it now that Miami lost its best player for Notre Dame?
What's what's bigger than must win? Got to have it. All right, so all of that and a beef segment. Don't let me down now, clones. Get up in here, engage, react.
Go any way you want with it. If you don't like these topics, bring another one to it. Just make sure you have a take to go along with that topic. That's all I'm asking. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six.

All right, today's the beef day. Every Thursday, you get the beef. Top of our number three, collin beefs, written beefs.
So, in the meantime, let me ask you a question: Why is Old Trapper beef jerky so good? Because there's something to be said for a family business which stands by quality and produces the world's finest beef jerky. I know, I eat it all the time, including this morning. Smash so much before the program. Make sure you choose Old Trapper, where you can actually see the quality right through their iconic clear view packages.
Every single bite of Old Trapper is tender, never tough, because they use only the best ingredients from their lean strips of beef, seasoned with top quality spices, to their real wood fired smoke. Old Trapper delivers quality in every single bite, and it comes in four amazing flavors. This morning, I went with the peppered. Tender, seasoned beef covered in cracked pepper—a cold beer's best friend.
So grab and go, thanks, Rit. Grab and go with that four-ounce bag, or load up with an eighteen-ounce bag, where there is enough for the entire team. See, when Rit worked here, there was never enough for the entire team because he ate it all himself. But that's all right. That's what it was here for.
If you don't see it, ask for a Trapper by name, because no other jerky compares. Oh, Trapper, which your beef.
So as I'm apt to do during the program, I've got the X app open, and I'm looking at a few things. I was like looking down the right side to see what's going on, and right there in the middle of what's happening, in other words, what's trending, the Led Zeppelin. Haven't clicked on it. Don't know why. It just only creates PTSD for me.
And then I look down the middle, and I see. Actually, I go to the very top and the middle, but on the right-hand column, follow me on this. In the middle of that right-hand column, under the "What's Happening" segment, the Led Zeppelin. That brings back PTSD of a sort for me. You all know why.
I don't need to go into that. Go to the very top of that column and the trending stories. Today's news. The top story. Quinnin Williams calls out Cowboys defense for self-inflicted losses, another form of PTSD.
So both those things in the right-hand column on X, tough app. The reason Quinnin is in the news is Quinnin is assuming responsibility and being accountable. In saying that the defense was garbage against Arizona, I'm looking at a post. Thanks, Alvy. I'm looking at a post from Awful Announcing.
Quote: Quinn and Williams used the word execute thirty-two times. I must tell you that during Sunday's collapse against the Arizona freaking Cardinals, I wanted to execute several of my players during the game. Execute them on the field. I wanted them to be executed. That is Skip Bayless.
Quinnin in response to Skip Bayless, Skip said that on ESPN to Stephen A. And you know, me as you don't get caught up in that type of thing, but because Quinnin's in the middle of this, that's the awful announcing post. If you're watching on the stream, Skip when Skip. And Skip said, "I wanted to execute several of my players during the game. Execute them on the field.
I wanted them to be executed." Quote unquote. Quinnan saw that and didn't like it. And then Quinnan, in response, posted quote. At real Skip Bayless, it's extremely crazy to say you wanted players on defense to be executed. You got to do better, my guy.
All right, putting Skip aside for a moment and focusing on Quinnin, Quinnin, my guy. I what you're saying is accurate about your defense, and y'all having to do better. But you telling somebody else they need to do better doesn't really work. Work, you. You're the last guy who should be telling somebody else they need to do better.
When you play for that defense, you're the last guy to tell somebody else they need to do better. When you come on this show to promote college colors and then refuse to talk about anything except college colors.
So yes, you're right when you say that defense is horrible and it needs to do better. But it just needs to be somebody other than you, saying that you or him need to do better, big fella. You're a great player. Look in the mirror and do better. I can't have that guy telling others they need to do better.
Not after the way he showed up in the jungle that day. And that's just Skip being Skip. Your reaction to any of this?
So you've got the Texans and the Chargers, the Jungle Super Bowl, the biggest zero and seven v two and five game ever in the jungle. Enormous stakes. I mean, I don't even know why I haven't done a week on Radio Row for that. There should have been a jungle radio row with only one show hours, and I could have marched a parade of guests in nine a day radio row for an entire week. Hey, you're looking live on the jungle radio row leading up to jungle Super Bowl one from Southern California.
I mean, the game is here. The game is here, so I could have just driven the studio. I could have Lorne build one of his impromptu studios right outside SoFi, or I could have just done Radio Row right here in the studio. It's the Super Bowl, the Jungle Super Bowl. Zero and seven, L.A.
v two and five, Houston. The Jungle Super Bowl. Man, how do we not do Radio Row? Is there any way to spin the clock back to Monday? Can we start over?
Can we start this week over? Hey, what's cracking? Hope you had a great weekend, Clones. It is the Jim Rome Show live from the Jungle Radio Row. What?
Why did I not think about this? Would have been perfect. Let's see. Brad from Reading is in. Hey Jim, all that talk about Herbert is a bunch of gobble gobble turkey turkey jive turkey gobble gobble turkey.
You know, where is gobble gobble turkey? Just gobble gobble gobble turkey from jive turkey gobblers. You know, it's just. Bro, even if you had brought that nonsense to the smack off, it would have been better than the nonsense that you brought to the smack off. That at least had a little bit of juice, a little bit of energy.
I mean, really, really goofy and cringy, but for you Harbs, pretty good. Gobble gobble, jive turkey. Gobble gobble turkey. Seamus twenty seven quote: I don't have a lot of truth to say today, except for that Q Lake. Tell that DB to get a life.
Tell that clone to get a life.
Son Jim Har bag. Oh no, that DB's got a life. And he also got a pick off your favorite quarterback, like he knew he would. And the team got two. Romy, I discovered an exceptional well back in the day.
Regards, baby Jess. Every day, man. Every freaking day. What are you losers? He's gonna come up in here with that.
And one more before we break. Jimmy K, get Quinton Lake to the comedy store. The roast of Justin Herbert, two nights only. Quinton cold cuts. Lake takes down deli meat.
Herbert and all the Chargers. Q is hot on the mic with burns on McVay's stagnant bong water and Harbaugh's monotone pressers. Don't miss it. All right. When we come back, I'll start the interview portion of the program.
Cole Kubelik, SEC Network game analyst, joins us. Tyler Algier coming up next hour. The beef segment, top of hour three. I'm doing my job. I just am.
Now I need you to do your job. In fact, I'm doing my job exceptionally well. It's a corny phrase. I'm doing my job exceptionally well. You're doing your job about as well as Horbert's doing his job.
Clones do better. Bring me something. Stay tuned. You're listening to the Jim Rome Show. You didn't start a business just to keep the lights on.

All right, let's talk some ball. Big, big weekend. We are joined right now by a former Auburn offensive lineman. He played for the Tigers from 1996 to 2001. He was a team captain.
He's an SEC Network game analyst. He will call Saturday's Vanderbilt Mississippi State game. He is the host of the Cube Show podcast. He is co-host of the McElroy and Cubalook in the Morning Show, which is heard weekdays on WJOX 94.5 FM. In Birmingham, we are joined by Cole Kubalek.
Cole, great to have you on the show, dude. How you doing? I'm doing great, man. Appreciate you having me, long-time listener. Grew up being a fan of your work, man.
It's an honor to be on with you, Cole. It's great to have you on. I really appreciate you saying that. That means the world to me. Listen, before we talk ball, I want to talk to you about your radio program because I know radio.
You know, I grew up in radio. I got my start in radio, and you co-host with one of my favorite dudes in the business, Greg McElroy. Let me ask you this: What's it like to chop it up every morning with a member of a guy that I like to call a part of the Big Brain Club, and is Especially since he's a Bama grad and you're an Auburn alum. Yeah, sometimes that brain's a little too big, Rome, and it gets a little bit difficult to manage the ego that comes with a former Alabama quarterback. Let's go.
On the flip side of that, G Mag knows ball better than anybody. He's one that can challenge me on a consistent basis, and we have a lot of fun with it. Because I think he feels the same way about me. I can challenge him. Then the rivalry begins to step in.
We poke each other with Auburn and Alabama stuff. That rolls through basketball season, baseball season. That's year round. The Iron Bowl, as you know. It doesn't stop.
That's an everyday hatred that we carry into our radio show and our everyday lives. But it's a blast, man, because I have a ton of respect for him and his knowledge of football. I learn from him every day, and that's probably the coolest part about it. That's awesome, man! What a great response.
It's a way of life, that Iron Bowl thing. That's not just a game. That's a way of life. Cole Kublik joining us.
So Cole, every year when the first college football playoff rankings are released, fans freak out, the media freaks out, everybody freaks out, but generally it resolves itself on the field, having. Said all that. What stood out to you the most when the first rankings were revealed on Tuesday night? Always feel like we're trying to pick apart what we learn about every committee. I feel like this one showed us they're going to value big wins maybe more than anything else.
I do appreciate the respect that they put on being undefeated. I think it still carries weight. It shouldn't be the end all be all, but you go look at what they did with UCLA. Obviously, Miami being number one, there was going to be no debate about that.
So I feel like they took some of those things that we carry on year to year, and they said, "All right, I can figure this out about that group." Then we see Alabama. Five, a team that has the same record of Tennessee Volunteers. They lost to Tennessee, and Tennessee is going to be down at thirteen, which tells me they may not respect better losses. Which I think Tennessee has. I mean, toe to toe with Texas at home, a game in which Colin Simmons, who's going to be an early first round draft pick, takes over your game, and you still had opportunities in it, and you bump them all the way down to thirteen.
That was the one thing that I looked at and said, I don't know how this computes.
Somebody's going to have to teach me this math because my offensive line. Brain is not going to be able to figure it out, and then I'll tell you Indiana at four. I love Signetti's group. I love a team that finds a way to win and finds different ways to win. I respect that, and I appreciate people that can see it and love it.
But does that make them the number four team in the nation based on the teams they've defeated this year? And then I'll go a little step further with you, Jim.
Some of the conversation around Camario Taylor and Alabama's win against Mississippi State—that's fine. I'm cool with that. I appreciate it, but are you taking that to every game in which a certain player didn't play? Are we taking that to defensive tackles, to corners, to centers, to guards, to tight ends? I understand quarterback's most important position on the field, other than center.
But we got to take that to every position, and we got to look at that at every spot. And I need to make sure that committee's doing that for other teams that may have played someone who's not playing anymore, like when they go play Ohio State now versus the first half of the season, or somebody that was out and is now in. You old heads got that? Factor the center play in first and foremost. Whatever you do, make sure you factor that in.
Cole Cuba, like joining us, so call it fair. All that's fair to me. All that is fair to me. Let me ask you about the biggest game. On Saturday's monster slate, you've got Notre Dame hosting number one Miami.
Heisman Trophy. Malachi Tony needs surgery for a high ankle sprain. He's out. Like already coming into that game, there were seven point dogs prior to that.
So, how big of a blow is that to Miami? Not only in that game, but overall as they look ahead. It's massive because Malachi Tony, you can put him next to Jeremiah Smith, best player in college football. Pick your poison. Two completely different type of receivers, but both dynamic, who can control the game, take over the game, and force you to defend them in different ways.
To me, that's the most important part of this. Is what does it allow Marcus Freeman and his staff to now be able to do defensively that they could not or would not even attempt to do if Malachi Tony's in the lineup? He is a location first player. Where is he on the? Field before we call a defense, try to run a defense, or even get lined up.
You got to know if he's in the backfield. Is he in motion? Is he in the slot? Is he out wide? How dangerous can he be when and where after that football is snapped?
Now you don't have that. You can play a little more straight up and maybe be a little more high risk with the pressures you want to bring. Maybe what you want to do in coverage, add a defender to the box. For me, with no Malachi Tony, I think this becomes a Mark Fletcher game, who is an absolute hammer behind. An offensive line that's not what it was at this point a season ago with Francis Mauihnoa and those boys, but I think still can get some things done up front, open up some play action if that goes with Fletcher.
I think his season high attempts on the year is like 13. They haven't really gone deep and dirty with Mark Fletcher just yet, and letting him set the tone of a game. You do that, try to open up some play action, and if Notre Dame has to commit those extra bodies to the box, or if they're already there, that's when you find Cooper Barkate or another receiver to step up, make some plays down the. Field, I think the good news if you're Miami, Darius Mints is completing 80 of his passes this year, 25 touchdowns to one pick.
So, no matter who's in the game, he's been pretty freaking good. Hey, Cole, who's your best quarterback right now in the nation, pound for pound? Has any of these guys separated from everybody else? I think Darian Minsa has, and it's Malachi Tony's going to take a little bit that off. I think Julian Sam was right there with him, and Jeremiah Smith's going to be the same way.
They're going to say, "Oh well, you thought." Actually, I give a quarterback credit for giving the ball their best football player. Like you're actually intelligent, and I'm going to credit you for that. Do I think a lot of other QBs have separated? Not with those two when when Julian Sam was playing, and what Darian Minsa's doing now. I think we're seeing some maybe here towards the end of the year that are ready to take off.
Like. The ignition boosters. That button's been pressed. Lenora Sellers might be ready to skyrocket. Sam Levitt might be ready to skyrocket.
I think Keelan Russell's been a little up and down for Alabama. I do think there are a few that can finish the season strong, but right now, I don't think anybody's playing football like Darian Minsa is at Miami. Hey, Cole, what's interesting? Two guys that you did not mention that I was going to get to that I would have said earlier: Trindad, Chambliss to start the year, but Chambliss and Gunnar Stockton. What about that matchup this weekend?
Number two, Georgia, and number ten, Ole Miss. Get out. After it under the lights in Oxford, in terms of that quarterback matchup, how do you see that playing out? I love it. I love Trinidad Chambliss.
He's a gamer. It's a kid that came from Fair State. I had his first game. We did the TV broadcast, and I remember Lane Kiffin telling us how he couldn't even crack third team. Kid couldn't complete out routes in practice.
They put him in the first scrimmage, and he walks the threes up and down the field. They said we got to get him more reps. Second scrimmage the next Saturday, he's with the twos. Walks the twos up and down the field. They try to give him more reps in practice.
He just can't complete passes. Finally, the last scrimmage, they put him with the twos against the one. Up and down the field, Austin Simmons gets hurt. You know the rest. I love Trinidad Chambliss.
Number one, Rome. His receivers have got to help him out. I mean, Deuce Alexander's got two balls hit him in the face mask last week. Caleb Odum does make the one nice one-handed catch, but with no Keywan Lacy, I think it's more quick game, more quick ball distribution, and maybe more Trinidad Chambliss with his legs, which is where I think you'll see more Gunner Stockton this week. I loved the Georgia offensive line late in the game against Florida.
Yes, Gunner Stockton missed a few throws; it wasn't perfect, but they got legitimate movement at the point of attack. They moved for. The defenders against their will. I think Georgia comes into this game and instead of going east-west, quick game, loosen the defense up that way. I think Mike Bobo comes in and says, "Let's see if we can move this defensive line," which I think is what Ole Miss follows.
Trinidad's great, Keywan's great, but Jim, when the Ole Miss defensive line plays well, when they're ripping, that team is going. When they're not, and there have been games and moments which they have not been, I think that team fades.
So I think they want to try to control that defensive line to the best of their ability. Extra tight ends, quarterback runs, north south runs. Let that offensive line attempt to eat early, and whoever wins that battle, I think ends up winning that football game. It's gonna be a huge SEC weekend, Cole. Really quickly before you go, I'd love to get your thoughts.
On this, so what do you make of NC State looking for a head coach? Right, Dave Dorrin gets fired mid-season, and two of the guys that are most on their short list apparently, Philip Rivers and Russell Wilson. We're talking about a couple of guys that have no college coaching experience. Russ has no coaching experience at all. Do you like that direction for a school?
In this day and age, yes. Five years ago, maybe ten, fifteen years ago, I would have told you there's no way in hell you can do that. That's a disaster waiting to happen. But let's be real. What do we hear most now about head coaches?
They don't have time to coordinate. They don't have time to call plays. You need to hand over play calling. I got to go speak. I got NIL.
I got to go manage this. We got the portal. It doesn't feel like there's. And I talk to head coaches every weekend, Jim, that tell me, "God Almighty, I just want to do more football. I just want more time for more football." So if Philip Rivers, who knows the landscape, can command the room of the people, they're going to help get that program where it needs to get.
I think absolutely. We're not going to question the football IQ of Philip Rivers. Also, he's bringing his son, which I think is an elite quarterback prospect, which is probably going to help you go win games pretty quickly.
So, a little bit of a package deal early on, not long term. I don't hate the idea. Listen, I grew up in the state of Alabama, where Philip Rivers grew up. Everything I know about him and hear about him, he can absolutely hand that job. I can't tell you the same about Russell Wilson because I don't know his background that much, but and I love Dave Dorrin.
I thought it was a mistake to fire Dave Dorrin. I'll make that clear right now because that guy's done a ton for that program. But I think Philip Rivers could absolutely go in there, shake things up, do some things in the new era of college football to help NC State get back on track in the ACC. By the way, I agree with you. Dorrin's a ball coach.
He's a ball coach. He did a great job, but we know the way things are right now. Damn, Cole, for a jungle debut, man, you murder. You crushed it. That was awesome.
Really appreciate you. Do I get a rack him? Or I mean, I know I am not a caller, but rack him. Go ahead and rack him. Rack him.
You can be the damn smack off, Cole. And then, am I getting rack for the day? You can be the damn smack off. If I bring the smack off back, Cole, you are in that. How about that?
Does that work for you? We'll take it. We'll take it. We'll take it. You earned it, dude.
You earned it. I appreciate you, Cole. Great job, man. Thanks so much. Yeah, man.
Anytime. All right. Well done, Cole Kublik. Joining us, that was an awesome jungle debut. Really good stuff from Cole, but I'm not surprised.
That's why we put him there. All right, when we come back, hour number two, your reaction and thoughts to that. I like that energy. I like that insight. Like his attitude.
Like everything about it.
So in that second hour, we've got Tyler Algier, Arizona Cardinals running back, will be joining us. What's your beef? Top of hour number three. I love a first-time guest saying, "Well, did I get racked? Yeah, you got racked.
Rack him." I don't know if you're bumping music, Alby.
So I'm just gonna get out right now. Oh, there it is. All right, we're fine. Beef segment, top of our three.
So start thinking about what you want to beef about. I mean, was that the start of smackoff season? No. Don't want to get your hopes up.
However, a guest asking, "Did I do well enough to get racked?" Almost, almost lit the fuse. All right. Second hour straight ahead. At Edward Jones, we believe rich isn't about having life all figured out. It's opening yourself to all the possibilities.
