Now on with the show. This is the Rich Eisen show, ladies and gentlemen. Here's the top ten, and who's not in it? From the Rich Eisen show's studio in Los Angeles, I'm taping for Notre Dame. They are telling you put a competitive schedule together.
Earlier on the show, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher, ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes, coming up, the Ringer NFL draft analyst Todd McShay, and now it. Rich Eisen. Hour number three of the Rich Eisen show is on the air, ladies and gentlemen. Let's just get right to him to kick off hour number three of this very busy program because he's a busy man and he's got information. I don't want to dilly dally.
No, don't be dallying. And and and later on this hour, we're hopping in a Delorean. I like it, a football Delorean, because it was actually what November fifth, nineteen fifty-five. Yeah, all right. This is November fifth, twenty twenty-six.
Yeah, of course, but that's.
So we're gonna hop in a football Delorean to go back in time and forward in time. And where this man goes, he doesn't need roads. He's Todd McShay, ladies and gentlemen, the ringer. Todd, what's up, Todd? Up, buddy.
How you been? What's going on? One of my favorite groups here. Let's get it. Thank you.
I appreciate that. Yeah, it's great to see you, man. It's great to see you. Great to see you. It's been a minute.
What's going on with the college football quarterback market here, man? Because this was supposed to be the mother of all drafts, and I don't think it's shaping up to be that way for the quarterbacks. It's horrible. It's horrible. This is supposed to be the biggest bumper crop of of quarterbacks.
You're calling it horrible now. Can we keep some perspective? Please sure. We've had two quarterbacks drafted in the first round each of the last two years. I'm looking at five guys who potentially could be first round draft picks, and and that's not including Arch Manning, who is most likely going to go back to school next year at Texas or otherwise.
It's not including Lenora Sellers, who the last three weeks you watch him and you're like, this guy can be a dude at the next level. It's not including Sam Levitt, who's starting to heat up in this Lane Kiffin offense, as I suspected over a little bit of time. Look at Jackson. Dart one year to the next, his final year at at LSU. It's not including Austin Simmons yet.
I'm not ready to to stamp that. Not a ton of college experience. Lost his job to Trinidad Chambliss after an injury. Transfers to Missouri. He's like Michael Penix, like the way he's he's throwing the ball from the left side, aggressively hitting spots.
So those are four guys right there who who could who are more likely than not going to go back to school, but could be where one or two of those guys wind up being part of this draft class. Drew Mesta Maker has been there. Feels like every year there's a a riser, a guy who comes out of seemingly nowhere. Drew Mesta Maker has all the traits. You know, people are throwing the Josh Allen stuff out there.
I think that's it's too rich for me. But I think Tyler Shuck—he's got a lot of similarities to like Tyler Shuck and and what he can do somewhere maybe in between, maybe a little north of Tyler Shuck or Tyler Shuck without all the injuries and the seven eight year journey that he had to to the NFL. And then everyone's like, "Oh, Dante Moore—he's—he's—he's not a first rounder. A horrible year." Should have gone to the Jets at number two last year. His tape wasn't that bad.
I don't know what everyone's talking about. From the beginning, I've said like there's some limitations. A lot of CJ Stroud where he doesn't love to run. He you know there's some decisions that I think that he can improve upon. But that thing was a mess, and he still like even in the Oklahoma State loss, he still had one like sail route he missed.
Overthrow a couple reads where like to have back, but he's the best pure passer when he's healthy. He's the best pure passer in the country, and and will be in this draft class. Darian Mensa just lights out so far. Big test without Malachi Tony on Saturday at Notre Dame against that secondary. C.J.
Carr is I think between the ears pre snap. Getting out of bad plays into good plays, understanding the picture, what teams are trying to do defensively, not overly aggressive, driving it down the field at times, but also doesn't have the receivers that Arch Manning has or some of these other guys have, and so he's he's trying to win football games now at Notre Dame.
So, and I feel like maybe I'm missing. Is that all?
So I get Mesta Maker one, C.J. Carr two, Darian Mensa three, oh Trinidad Chambliss. Great opportunity against Georgia this week. Remember, he snapped seventy-five game streak Georgia had going into that Sugar Bowl of leading in the third quarter, going into the fourth, and and winning. And he snapped that last year with his performance in the fourth quarter against Georgia.
So I am pretty fired up to see six defensive prospects on the defensive side for Georgia. I am excited to see what he he does there. And then, like I mentioned, Dante Moore, and then Jaden Mayava is playing really well at USC. Talked to some scouts who who think he's kind of in that fringe first round range, and everyone wants to forget about him because he can't play this year. And all the off season, the circus that was Brandon Sorsby and the the the gambling and the unfortunate issues and him going to rehab.
But I've talked to some people in his camp. He's doing really well. Working out with some people who have been around ball their whole lives, and and and getting ready for the senior bowl, and and getting ready for the pre-draft process, and he is an extraordinarily talented young man who may be a day two pick, but could be a starter in the NFL in the future.
So, yeah, it's not what we expected because we all we're hoping that Arch was going to have this. Takeoff season, and he was going to be number one overall pick in Washington D.C. First family of football, number one overall pick, and and that would Sam Levitt would would be one of the guys, and that Lenora Sellers a top five pick. It hasn't happened that way, but there's still a lot of quarterbacks with a lot of big games coming up to sort this thing out.
So let's jump into the arch part of it here. Arch Manning, Todd McShay, why, why is he not? In the first round conversation right now, what what is it? Is it because, man, of so many theories you hear. One of them is that okay, here's a video of him, you know, scoring his ninth touchdown in high school against a guy who's like 500 pounds.
You know what I mean? And and isn't an SEC athlete, and he's learning that the hard way. Or it's Sark's system, or his coaching, or it's just he's not that great. What do you think, Todd? What do you physically?
He physically he is that great. Great, big arm, six four, two hundred and thirty plus pounds, and mobile.
So why is he not? Why why is it not working in Texas, Todd? Fourth quarter, twenty one point comeback against Ohio State. The magic is there, right? Yeah.
I boil it down to one of two things, and and it also can be both, right? One is like if you're just standing back and you want to be a, I'm trying to use a word that's not going to get us in trouble here. You're on Disney, right? Nice. If you want to be a jerk about it, you could say, "Well, Sark is, you know, it's all Sark's fault.
He's past his prime. He needs to let go of play calling duties. He doesn't know what he's doing. He's holding arch back." Or then you can be a jerk on the other side and say. Arch is that football smart?
How is he not process four years into the system, two years as a starter? How is he not seeing these open receivers and all those other things that you see on social media? I kind of think it could be a little bit of both, but but not not as drastic as that. I think Arch, yeah, he didn't play at the highest level in high school. I think Arch came in with just unreasonable expectations.
I think the mistake that some of us made, a lot of us, and maybe even people in that Texas building, is that well, he's the nephew of Peyton and Eli, and the first family in football. He's had all the people around him. He understands concepts. He's going to be brilliant, just like his uncles. But we forget that, like his grandfather was the mobile scramble, crazy make plays type of guy, and he's the son of Cooper.
And and coop and and and so he grew up in that family, and he has all these gifts. And he wasn't playing the top talent, so no different than a defensive tackle who's just better than an offensive guard in college gets in the NFL. And sometimes it takes a little while for him to figure out. Oh, my my my technique better be good. I better get my rip, my my slap move, my my club, my arm over all those things right, because I'm playing real like this is the best guard I've ever faced in my life, right.
I think Arch has had to really try to understand where his eyes need to be. How do we bring his feet with it and marry it all? And so, and I also hear from people around the building. There's a lot of great stuff in practice that's not getting translated, or we're not seeing on on Saturdays sometimes.
So he's still developing. I get news for you. Trevor Lawrence is kind of a good comp. Trevor Lawrence left Clemson. Similar skill set, just physical tools, all everything you look for.
But Trevor Lawrence played in a very simple offense. They schemed some things up. He had really tall, big receivers, guys who went went up and make plays, and they won a lot of games. Number one overall pick. Five years later, three different systems.
It finally started to click last year and this year. And now Trevor Lawrence, you can argue is one of the best five quarterbacks in the NFL, you know, week to week, right? And so, just because Arch isn't ready right now, doesn't mean he can't get there. I've said it before, like, and people in Texas either love it or hate it. I guess at this point, I'd like to see if Arch doesn't go back to Texas, and I'm not saying he is leaving, but everyone's saying he's leaving, and people are saying Georgia or Ole Miss or these other places.
Like Will Stein's done a pretty nice job. With quarterbacks in the last several years, with Bo Nix and what he was at Auburn compared to two years at Oregon, and Dylan Gabriel got drafted in the third round. He's not a third rounder. And Dante Moore had his best year after it wasn't working at UCLA, sat a year, and all of a sudden he has. He's going to be the number two overall pick last year.
So maybe getting with the right person and the right system to help his development could help. But I also watch Sark's offense, and I say. The play calling is where I have the issue. The play designs are awesome, man. But what I what I watch the the last game against Ole Miss, he comes out and it's it's pro style first couple series, and it's it's shotgun three step drop balls out.
You know, top of the drop conviction drill. It next one blitz coming. Great job with the read throw behind the blitz. Does the same thing. Sark gets an open receiver down the field.
It's a drop, but the throw is perfect. And then, like two series later, they come out, and I've been saying it's like, it's like orbit sweep to the to the. You know, we're going to do an orbit sweep, and we're going to jet sweep here, and we're going to throw a screen here. Let's bubble this. And so, playing quarterback is so much about empowerment, Rich.
You have to empower your quarterback. I don't think I don't think Arch has a lot of like power pre snap. I don't see him in control of this offense. It is a he's a joystick at times for Sark's brilliance, and there I don't know that there's many better in the country at third and seven. Find a way with pre-step motions and different disguises to get our best guy against their safety or whatever it is.
Wide open receiver, he does that. He's brilliant, but the play call timing, I think, is thrown Arch off a lot. And then Archer's responsible for his part because whether it's a lack of confidence, whether it's not transferring from the practice field to the to the to the game field. He's responsible for it too, while he's still developing.
So it's a very long answer for you. I'm not giving up on Arch. I'm not giving up on Sellers. I think I think Levitt's going to be awesome in the future. But I think sometimes we forget these guys need to develop.
You know? Oh yeah, no. That and that's always the question. And so, you know, before we just move on to a couple other items, and I'll let you go on the rest of your your Thursday. Todd McShay is channel your inner Gil Brandt.
But that—that I mean, you know, he would always call up prospects and go, "Don't see it first round. See a second. See a third. Make your plans accordingly." If you could channel your inner Gil Brandt, you would counsel Arch to do what, regardless of if he goes on a nice little run with Texas into the college football playoffs. What would you counsel him to do?
Well, I'll talk to Archie, and I might talk to Cooper, and I don't think that they're going to put any any stock into what I say. And I've developed a good relationship with them over the years, going the Manning Passing Academy and helping Archie create that list of quarterbacks to target every year. Right.
So you also know then very intimately that they they know too. They know if it's jibing with Sark or not, and if if it's they know behind the scenes stuff that we don't too.
So right, put it all together. You're, I'm certain. My advice is, go back to school.
Okay, for whatever reason, and and it can be multiple reasons. You're not where you want to be because if you're going to be a first round pick, and I got news for you, if he came out in this year's draft, even if this season just goes kind of up and down the rest of the way. A team still drafting him in the first round. He's that talented.
Okay, and if and if that's the case, you're and you know this better than anybody, Rich. You get drafted in the first round, some point rookie year, unless it's a Mahomes situation, something very rare. He's going to be on the field as a starter, and I don't think he's ready yet. And that's okay. That's the part that I think the public or you know, you get on social media like it's okay that he's not there yet now.
But it's also our job as evaluators to say he can get there, and if he gets to the point that we think he can get to, he can be special.
So I would advise him to. Take a minute after the season, come back to college next year. I this is the part that I get, you know, I get a little antsy about. I'm not advising him to leave Texas, but if he makes the decision that if the Manning family decides, hey, let's go somewhere else, the first call I would make if he was my son is to Will Stein in Kentucky.
Okay, Todd McShay here on the Rich Eisen Show from the Ringer, and then this one I'm I'm just going to go. You could put whatever names you want into the hopper of this conversation, but the thing that we we were noticing just a few weeks ago, and it just gets more and more crystallized with each passing week in the NFL, Todd, is that the draft order in this quarterback heavy. Oh my gosh, the draft order. Is fascinating.
Okay, because the Chargers don't need a quarterback. I know Herbert's not playing at all very well. The Titans. With Cam Ward, the Dolphins would be, I think, in that market. My God, the Eagles sitting there with the whole conversation about Hertz and his contract.
Then you got the Jets three times in the top ten. I don't think that's going to be the landing that way because I think the Cowboys TJ really will improve. That last one from Dallas might not be top ten. Texans aren't looking for a quarterback. Shuck, you're not in that market.
The commanders aren't. Look at all the teams that are going to finish top ten that have either located their quarterbacks or paying them to the point where they're not trading out.
So I mean that they're not taking one. They trade out, right? I mean, how wild would this be, Todd? It's very wild. Right, very well, and yeah, if Cam Ward continues to play the way he did last Sunday, then yeah, I mean you're you're good, and so maybe for once, Rich, like.
Considering what we just talked about, this quarterback market maybe the supply and demand will match up. Maybe we're not reaching, you know, for for a quarterback a little bit higher than we should, and maybe whether it's Mesta Maker or Carr or however it plays out, maybe one of those guys goes in the top six picks, and then and then maybe another team trades in later in the top ten to get the other guy, and then and then I I think.
Some people are a lot higher on Mensa than they are than than others are, and the same for Trinidad Chambliss. And so I'm looking, and the same for Dante Moore. And so to me. Mid first round is is fine, and I know we. It's usually like they they go real early, or they go late first, or they go top fifth, top forty five picks, and then they don't go until like the third day.
So I look at this class and it's about where they should go. Maybe there's one or two in the top ten. Maybe there's one or two in the. But we also have a class too. Don't forget with Jeremiah Smith.
That's the question, right? And Collins Simmons, and and Dylan Stewart, and a and and Charlie Becker. And. And I'm just looking down this list now. Ashton Hampton's a cornerback.
Probably people don't know about a lot at Clemson. He's absolute. He's he's one of them. Chris Cole is an is the next. Is he an edge?
Is he an off-ball linebacker? He can do a little bit of everything. Play him where you want. Play him everywhere if you want. When you when when he's ready to do it.
You got a couple interior defensive linemen. The Xavier Gilliam from Tennessee's been a he's been the most devastating defensive lineman in all of. College football this year kind of emerged out of nowhere, and and and Will Echols from Ole Miss.
So there's a bunch of other positions, and the offensive tackle group. I counted eleven guys I've got right now currently in the top like fifty-eight overall. None of them in the top. Fifteen, I think it is, and so those guys will get bumped up.
So maybe an offensive tackle or two goes. I just, yeah, I think it could be a different year in that regard. But I'll, I'll, I just don't know how many quarterbacks are going to wind up coming out because Mestamaker can go back to school. That's that's one of them. I mean, technically, so could so could Dante Moore.
But he's, I'm being told by people around his camp that he's he's going to be a part of this class. Chambliss has to be a part of this class. You sure about that? You sure t here is not a ninth? T here is not a judge sitting there in Louisiana that can give him a ninth year of eligibility.
You know, t here is one that wants to. You know, t here is somebody in t here is one that wants to in Mississippi.
Some judge can no. Wait a minute. Hold on a second. Oh yeah, we're he wouldn't have that year of eligibility from the you know the the the original influenza of nineteen ten. We got to give him another year.
You know, like CJ. It's just not CJ. I know. I've been. J.
Car is a redshirt sophomore, right? He could, so he could go back.
So, right, we could be looking at a class with Trinidad Shamblis and and and Mensa. And in that respect, when you look at and you look at this, just one last look at the at the current order, you're the Chargers. You absolutely just put Jeremiah Smith on a card and rip the knob off and not even think about this whole business.
So he's just a wide receiver, right? Like that's the end of it, correct? That's the end. That's the end of it. And the first time since what, Keyshawn Johnson, right?
And and because you know what what are you going to do? Dangle it out there so the Dolphins could go trade up two spots for a quarterback that you are basically saying I don't know unless unless the and then let the Titans get Jeremiah Smith like no I'm I'm I mean this it's early to start having these conversations I know that guy is so special I'm not I'm not messing with anything like I'm good I'm going to take Jeremiah Smith and continue and and try to right see where we are offensive coordinator. And however that plays out, but I think I think that's the absolute move if you're the Chargers and you wind up with that pick. Listen, I know Tony has been you know very has a great season, and you know hopefully this kid gets well and better, right? But the bottom bottom line is, in my estimation, is if Jeremiah Smith does not win the Heisman Trophy, they should just smelt it down and make pinballs out of it.
Yeah, be very honest with you. I agree. Honestly, it becomes it becomes useless then. And I'm a Michigan guy saying it. Yeah, you know.
No, I know. It's a fact. He's that. He's he's eye popping. I mean, his stat line against USC would be great for any wide receiver, and it was pedestrian.
You know what I mean? Like he's yeah he's that good, and and it is a conversation. Certainly, if you're saying the quarterback, like we're sitting here top of November. And and you are saying the quarterback draft that everyone was saving their powder for, Jets, Browns, what have you, isn't shaping up to be like that. Right, it's going to be a fascinating draft in in DC, brother.
Fascinating, oh, it is. I can't, I can't wait. Thanks for the time, because there's a lot of good players. Yeah, thanks for the time. Always, bud.
Always. How's the crew doing? Everyone good back there? Todd, we're doing great. Great to see you, brother.
Blink to make sure he knows that I'm not forcing you to say that. You know, would you mind? What's up, Todd? You want to hold up today's newspaper? They're not going to let you hold them down, Rich.
You know that. You know what? Thank you, Todd. Thanks, Todd. We're our own men.
Yeah, yeah, you are. Yeah. Thanks again, bud. Appreciate it. Everybody, check out talk to you soon.
You bet. That's Todd McShay of the Ringer. Check out the McShay Show. Everybody should check that out. Definitely.
Seriously, we're sitting here, and let's just do this real quick. Put up the draft order one more time. I'm sorry. You're the Chargers. You you you hold Herbert, and you say, "Here, Justin." Here's Jeremiah Smith.
You're the Titans. You're not taking another quarterback. You're not. No, you're already down the road with Cam Ward. Cam played so well.
Right.
Kurt Warner came on on Wednesday's show and he said, out of the best, out of all the quarterbacks that I saw on film in Week Eight, Caleb and Cam Ward had the best weeks. I know that might be recency bias, or the light might be going on. He's that talented.
Dolphins. I, I think that's where they go. But with their with their new regime, they could be like, "We're going with this lineman. We're going with this other player to build our roster." You saw the way that they drafted last year. Yeah, right.
I don't know, man. If the Eagles, oh my God, if every quarterback's available and the Eagles are on the clock, I still think this is Jalen Hurts' world. But you're already hearing this. You're already seeing topic bars on our our our colleagues in Bristol and in New York with as Jalen Hurts played his last snap as an Eagle. Like you don't think that'll be out there in the ether all next spring?
Did the Chargers keep that pick? Yeah, or do they move it? But who's trading up? I don't know. You just heard from McShay.
Like, listen, I understand it's here and now, but always quarterbacks get pushed up. Due to need, yep, and hype, and oh, pro day this, and oh, wait, film that. Oh, god, he's incredible. He's got to go, and that's the way. Also, the way the season finishes.
But who's trading up? Who's trading up? Dolphins, maybe because they love somebody. It's best to make her. Got to go.
The Jets are Jets. Yeah, the Jets.
Well, I mean. It would be just the Jets' luck that the quarterbacks aren't that good, and they get three cracks at it, and they and and they still don't hit it on one of them. I still think if I'm the Chargers, I think about trading Herbert and hitting reset. That's crazy talk. With the with the picks you'd get for Herbert, you can restart five years on a rookie quarterback.
All due respect to use the phrase that Mike McDaniel once upon a time used. With all due respect, I would rather swap out the OC. And if you're Jim, you're like. I know what this kid is. He knows what this kid is.
We just didn't play football the way that I'm used to. As Jim Harbaugh, I went down a different road with Mike McDaniel. It didn't work out. We're going back to the way we used to do things. I'm sorry, Chargers fans that want something more exotic.
I smash mouth people with a fullback and an offensive line, and we dominate. And we play action, and we throw that way. That's the way we play football. The way we did it right now clearly wasn't best for. Me and Justin Herbert.
That's the way I would prefer to go, rather than hit the reset button. Or they don't know who he is, and it just didn't work. It's been seven years. Oh, baby, this all coming down the pipe. Eight four four two zero four.

What's up, Christian? Right here in LA. Rich, my man. Good to see you again. Good to hear from you.
Right back at you. What's up, dude? My man. I called last year during Week One, Chargers Chiefs, and I called about how Justin Herbert. MVP candidate to start the year off last year, I said it was the best game he ever played in his career, and we're a year and seven weeks removed.
And I'm trying to figure out what the hell happened, what what what happened to the QB that I knew and loved so dearly, and he just looks like an absolute shell of himself. And I kind of have an idea where I'm going to go with this, and and the problems, the deep, deep, deep, deep problems that lie with this franchise.
So let's just start here. Let's start with this. Can you explain to me how we're paying a 50 million dollar quarterback, and we're 31st in spending? How is that possible, Rich? How is that possible that we have a fifty million dollar quarterback, but we can't surround him with anyone to help him out?
That's going to this wonder boy, Mike McDaniel.
So I don't know if you've seen the stat. We haven't scored a touchdown in twenty-seven straight drives. I saw that, Christian, and and and again, I think at the end of the day, and he knows it too. He understands what time it is. If there are no more.
Um, if if if if there's only a couple of wins, two three wins the rest of the way, the OC is going to eat it. He knows it, and I appreciate the call, Christian. I'm I'm here to give you a hug. Um, you know somebody who's uh one of the all twenty two types. Oh, because I just texted this individual.
What's wrong with the like? What is happening with the Chargers? What is going on? This individual sent me back. Video of and again, I understand everyone lays it at Justin Herbert's feet.
A video of Alt being one-on-one with Trent McDuffie coming out of the backfield to block, coming out from the line of scrimmage to block Trent McDuffie, who I think he probably has by a hundred something pounds plus, and he doesn't knock McDuffie on his ass. As a matter of fact, McDuffie makes the play. And he's like, "This is what's wrong with the Chargers. Like, there's no toughness. There's no nothing." And I know I'm blaming it at the feet of one person as well.
Okay, like this is what's up with him, you know. And the rounds are being made. Quinton Lake talking about what meatballs? No, Brady called it a meatball sub, right? Brady did, yeah, yeah.
That that Herbert. They knew they were going to get one from. He said it on the St. Brown podcast. He knew that they were going to get one, one from him.
That he's going to throw deli meat around. We even talked to earlier. Meatball sub is a better phrase. You are throwing meatballs around. Deli meat is, you know, again to me is a delicacy.
But Will Anderson, you can throw it's a ball. You got it. Yeah, exactly. Will Anderson, the Texans had this to say about Herbert, which because they're you know. Facing him, yeah, he's still a really great quarterback in this league.
You talk about a big guy who has a big arm that can run around, that can throw the ball deep, makes a lot of plays with his legs. He's still, you know, a very respectable player in this league, and we have a ton of respect for them. As far as scheme, you know, we're gonna probably see a lot of bounce. You know, McDonald's he's went against this defense a lot of times. Coach against this defense was at San Fran, I believe, so we know what to expect a little bit.
But Herbert, man, he's playing out of his mind. They have a really great, solid O line as well, and some really Good running backs that can get downhill, that can hit the perimeter.
So it's going to be a good challenge for us. Yeah, he's he's being very respectful, obviously. But last two times they faced Herbert, Herbert had very long days. Playoffs a couple years ago, and then I called the game last year in in Los Angeles. Herbert did play out of his mind that day.
The rest of the team did not. They need to find that Herbert. Did he say the bounce? Is that what he said? Bounce, Jim Harbaugh's teams don't bounce.
They slash and hit you in the mouth, man. That's why I just don't. You know, it's a weird, great idea, great idea to think outside the box and bring in somebody who's an outside the box thinker. But it's just not working.
So why is he still there? I great question. I don't have an answer for you. And I and and I bet you if you put him on, so I shouldn't say this. I don't.
Talk to yeah. I don't know, but I don't know if you'd want. Like, would you want to be there? You want to try? You want to make it work?
You want to turn it around? You want to basically do this, that, the other thing? I get it, but if it doesn't work out and everybody knows it, they'll just part ways and figure out where it would work because it's worked. He's a run game coordinator from Shanahan, and at one point, you know, the Dolphins were killing it offensively, killing it. Who led the league in passing yards?
So it works. I just don't know if it works. If it will work here. All right, we went down that that lane.
So let's take a break and do what we're planning to do. How does that sound? Go. Because today is we can't do this segment tomorrow. No, the future day is today, November fifth.
Right, November fifth night. We'll take a break. We'll come back and that fun segment I was promising. I promise you we'll do it. Unless you go into Delorean, you find out in the future.
I don't. The Rich Eisen Show, the podcast. Back here on the Rich Eisen Show, everybody eight four four two zero four. Rich, we'll take a call if we can sneak one in. We're midway through the football season, as I've mentioned, with winter right around the corner.

Hi, Chris. This was your idea, isn't it? Ah, yeah, I thought of it kind of this morning on one of those eight o'clock ideas.
Okay. In case anyone is wondering, it's it's not shorthand for anything. You literally, you know, no, with us an hour and hour with the program around, and we're so you realize today's today's date is November fifth, November fifth, November fifth, yeah. And that's yeah, it's a red letter day in science, as we all know. Doc Brown and invented time travel on November fifth, nineteen fifty five.
Right, he was trying to hang something in his bathroom, slipped and fell in the toilet, banged his head. And when he woke, he discovered he came to the flux capacitor. Right, as we all know, nineteen fifty-five. Yeah, okay, very good. That was the day I invented time travel.
Very good. Flux capacitor makes time travel possible. Correct, as we all know. Right, with one point seven one gigawatts of power. One point twenty one gigawatts.
Twenty one. One point two one gigawatts. What the hell's a gigawatt? What's bolt of lightning?
Okay. Yeah. So. Because of that momentous occasion, of course, obviously, on this day, you'd like to have us hop in the football Delorean, yeah, correct, on the Rich Eisen show, and go back to. I wrote the date down, September seventh.
Twenty twenty six. Yeah, the eve of week one. That's right.
Well, it's the Monday. I chose Labor Day. Oh, you chose Labor Day. Yeah, just because the information we're about to deliver, you'd need a good forty eight hours to absorb what we're about to deliver. Yeah, yeah.
So we're we're going to go back in the football Delorean to Labor Day. I love this. Thank you. With the one piece of football information we know now on the eve of week nine. Correct.
That would blow our minds the most. We blow our minds, and I am assuming we're all different on this. I would hope so.
Okay, you want to go first here? Sure, I'll go first. I would tell myself, and this would blow myself's mind. Is that right? No.
Gardner Minshew versus Drew Lock in Week Nine, and the winner of this game is second place in the NFC West. Seahawks, Cardinals, Minshew v. Lock, huh? Second place, okay, in the West, okay. That is wild.
Wow, that is that is crazy, crazy. What do you go back in time? The blow. TJ Jefferson's mind of Labor Day time. You know, we kind of touched on it the last segment, but it still holds true.
You know, expectations were so high for this team. Rich, we had a coach come in talking about he had to get his quarterback. He was dreaming about how to get him to the Hall of Fame, how to have him win Super Bowls, and then we get a new offense with with Mike McDaniel's, and it's we're expecting a lot of good things out of this team. And guys. Oh my bad.
I apologize. We both had the same thing. I read. Go for it. Finish it up.
Finish it up. I'll come up with a new one. Don't worry about it. I'll go back in the Delorean to to an hour ago and come up with another one. My bad, Rich.
The thing was, we both had the same one. And I read the wrong. Go for it. What do you got? But the Chargers haven't won a game.
They haven't won a game. That would be my surprise. O and seven. That's my biggest surprise. Expect this to happen.
I'm with you too, TJ. I don't know if you're aware of that. My bad. This what happens if you come up with an idea an hour before the show? No, that that that was definitely for me that the Chargers have no wins, none at all.
You know, I'll give you a different one. Then how about this? I'll give you a different one.
Okay, you could stay in Los Angeles with the Rams being four and four. I don't think anybody saw that one coming. Definitely not. But I'll give you another one. That the Jets have three of the top ten picks in the draft right now, and right get better, and then and then on top of it, the Jets have not only three of the top ten picks in the draft.
Okay, the Colts one is better than the current one the Jets own themselves, and the Cowboys are in the top ten. I wouldn't have seen that one coming, but what I definitely would have not been surprised about.
Okay. Is suddenly this quarterback class ain't all that? Yeah. Okay. The Jets put all their first round eggs in this basket of the short fire can't miss quarterback draft of quarterback drafts, and everybody's like, "Now that would not have been a surprise." Okay, so now TJ, here is the construct.
For the next portion of our segment, yes, okay. I want to go in the Delorean now and go to where we don't need roads—the future, future. All right, and the date is January thirty-first, twenty twenty-seven. Oh, what's that date? That is the date of Championship Sunday of the playoffs.
And now we're hopping in. We're going to that date. And imagine we're now hopping back with information to tell ourselves to blow our minds.
Okay, all right.
So, what have you learned from January thirty first, twenty twenty seven? Yeah, I went to the future and I'm back, and I have learned that all four teams playing on this date, yes, they would be first time Super Bowl winners.
Okay, all right.
So, let me guess. Let me guess. Jacksonville versus Houston. Jacksonville Buffalo, Jacksonville Buffalo.
Okay, championship.
Okay, yeah.
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then in the NFC, it's Lions. Yep. Versus, it's not Packers. It's Lions.
Vikings would be Lions. Vikings. Wild. Oh, and four.
Okay. Panthers. Panthers. Maybe. Maybe Bryce Young is there.
I don't think you've thought this thing completely through, have you? I really thought I was only thinking about Bills and Jaguars. I was thinking about Bills and Jaguars.
Okay. All right, could be okay. It very well could be. You got me looking like Doc Brown right now. God, TJ, yeah, it's funny.
Welcome back from the future. Thank you. It was awesome. What have you gleaned?
Well, pardon me. I don't. If you excuse me, I want to make sure you're under you're you're you're with the concept of the way this is going. Yeah, I gotta make sure it's not yours. It is mine this time.
It's possible. Yeah, yeah.
Chris, you kind of touched on this a little bit because. I have not traditionally, as you know, not thought this dude was the dude. Yeah, but now I'm starting to change my mind. I went to the future, right, and I saw this, and I came back, and I'm a little shocked to admit that Trevor Lawrence turned out to be the guy everyone thought he'd be coming out of Clemson.
Okay, meaning, I think Rich, I think the Jaguars might go to the Super.
Well, not might. You found out. Found out. You're there. You found out.
Unless, unless. You hopped in the DeLorean back before the AFC Championship game. Did you? Did you? Did you see the result of the AFC Championship game?
I mean, do you want me to grab this? No, this is not the bit. This is a different bit. Don't don't conflate bits. I saw it.
They cancel each other out, and then we're just gonna have a straight football. I can go wherever I want. I synced it.
Okay. I'm shocked. You biffed it. By the way, I'm back from the future. Yeah, how was it?
Yeah, I passed out in the first part of this segment, but I'm back. I'm back from the future. 8 a.m. Ideas. Wild.
Here I am, and I learned already what I knew is that I'm consistent. Oh. I learned that I'm consistent. I'm back from the future, guys. I'm back from the future, and I saw the NFC Championship game set up.
I didn't see how it figured. I don't know how it worked out. I just, I just went to the game before kickoff.
Okay, and I saw on one of the sidelines. The New York Giants with JJ McCarthy quarterbacking them, one game shy of the Super Bowl. Wow! Yeah, man, that's what I saw. Was it down the street?
Where Where were you? I don't know. I couldn't see where you went. I couldn't see.
Okay, real cloudy. I had those goggles on. Oh, for sure. You know. Yeah.
Uh huh.
So, well, plutonium. You gotta have. You never. You know. We gotta have protection.
Yeah. Yeah. But I saw it. JJ McCarthy, one game shy of taking his team to the ultimate championship in SoFi Stadium. Which, by the way, he's been there before.
He did lose to TCU. I saw that with my own two eyes. A million. Yeah, wasn't his fault. Was the officiating fault?
Is the officiating a million percent? Those officials, yeah. I'll go back into Delorean and fix that garbage. But there you go. That's our segment.
It'll be better next week. We're not doing it. Mark your calendars for November fifth, yeah, next twenty twenty seven. We're gonna go in the Delorean then, and I'll tell TJ Jefferson this is what we're gonna do. I had it, Rich.
Here's the deal. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. It's fine. I audibled.
We did, I Omaha'd. The draft one was good, not bad. Yeah, that's what I mean. I was prepared thanks to the the first segment of this hour. I like.
I am not dead. The segment is though. I like that, Chris. Oh god, I love Back to the Future. It's one of my favorite movies.
Great movie. I guess we need more prep time. Yeah, my bad. I'll take the head because I am a leader. You know, like JJ McCarthy and John Harbaugh, who's got it better than us?
Yes, I'm consistent, and they're probably taking on the Rams because the Rams are making it too. That's what I was saying. Passionate, I'm passionate. Actually, that was the one I changed it to—the fact that the Rams, and we thought they'd go under. Actually, it's too late.
It's too late. Too late. Hashtag back on Disney Plus to wrap this up. Thanks for listening to the Rich Eisen Show podcast. You can watch and listen to the Rich Eisen Show live weekdays from noon to three Eastern on ESPN Radio, Disney Plus, and on the ESPN app.
