It is Tuesday, November third. And I am welcoming back to the show Grant Bills and Paul Emig for um, yeah.

So we've been doing this show for four years, and we didn't do anything during the World Series. I mean, the elephant's in the room. Yeah, I didn't even think about that. Damn, we've talked about the shitty team for four years, and and all the heartbreak and all the speculation and. God knows only who we thought was gonna, and this is just within the last four years.

I mean, we're not going back to Jonathan VR being patient zero. The rebuild takes here. We're just talking last four, which I think I was right almost. Um, but we're we're like uh, we're back. And how you boys doing?

I I've talked about how I'm doing. Did we? How are you doing? Did we start this just after the Bucks won their title? Yeah, sounds about right.

Like late twenty twenty one, maybe early twenty two, twenty two.

Okay. Yeah.

So this was like the first real playoff run that I was able to have post game shows for. That was not like one and done. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think you didn't need because you were doing post game pods. Five times a week, four times a week.

Don't need. That's like saying you don't need the finest meal in all of the land. What? Thank you, thank you, to Grant. Thank you to Grant Bills.

Um. Yeah, we're back. We're just making them earn it, I guess. I thought I was going to run into you at one of these games, Paul. No, I I would have liked that.

Yeah.

So, how are you feeling about the World Series that happened?

Well, I've heard it happened. Oh come on! No, that's awesome. I want to actually. I have a topic about it.

Okay, it can't just have conversation. We need a topic.

Well, I don't trying to get to know you on a biblical level, and you're like, yeah. No, it was it was it was it was a thing that happened on delay. No, I actually watched it live. I really did. I truly, honestly watched it live.

Were you like excited? Are you happy it happened? I mean. Can you offer one emotional comment? Did I?

Yeah.

Did I watch it on? Did it pierce that robot skin of yours? Did I watch it on mute, um, so as not to wake anybody, and then be like, "Yeah," like kind of quiet, like, and then went to sleep. Yeah, that's that was kind of how I did it. Interesting.

Couldn't really. Are you glad they won? I am glad. Yes. I internal.

I I told you guys this about the Bucks title. I had a friend who called me, Facetimed me immediately after they won, and he was celebrating. And I said, like, the PJ Tucker contract worries me, buddy. And yeah, so we all celebrate in our own ways.

Well, what's your topic? All right, my topic. I have a couple of them, and. This would have been different had we done this in the moment, but I want to take our classic zoom out, and I have two ways I want to approach this. And here's the first one: I want you to think back to the Bucks winning their title five years ago.

Yeah.

I want you to think back to the Packers winning their title 15 years ago, and I want you to think back to a week ago when the Brewers won theirs, and try to remove any recency bias. But you can put yourself in the moment of what age you were, where you were, your emotional state, whatever goes into it. But I want you to try to picture yourself in that those three moments. The title of the three that meant the most to you of those three was the Brewers World Series title. Mm hmm.

Or mm hmm. Without recency bias, try do your best. Which is the best bias? Try to avoid recency bias. I want you to try to put yourself in the position of February 2011, what was it, July of 2021, and then October of 2026.

The one that meant the most to you in that moment. That again, it can be like like Bart. For us, it could be like because my kid got to experience it in a different way. It can be Grant because you were with. Certain folks in high school or middle school in 2011 or whatever, you can you can be real about your own situation.

Maybe it was the level to which you never thought you'd see X team do the thing, and but the one that meant the most to you, doing your best to take out recency bias is still, regardless of recency bias, the Brewers World Series title. Hmm. Or hmm. I kind of want to hear from both of you two first. Grant Bills.

Um, and I, I think just judging the Brewers championship, I think it would be hard for any team in American professional sports to win a title that satisfying. Football, basketball, you know, whatever they never got it before. Yeah, they once went twenty six years without making the postseason, and now they've been so close for the last decade. Bart and I called this the golden era of Brewers baseball. I think before the pandemic or shortly thereafter.

Like this has been going on, and they've had brutal, brutal playoff exits. Bites at the apple, Brewers. Yeah, all these bites at the apples that didn't hit, and and to have it happen this way, sweeping the Dodgers, a team that had ended your season a couple of times here over this run. Yeah, I just I just can't imagine a title that's more satisfying, specifically to to my experience. And I I gather that this is the experience of lots of Wisconsin sports fans too.

I said this on my show. I think the Brewers are they're more ours than the Packers. Or oh wow, okay, say more. My my my framing. I stumbled on a good line in here.

Like the the Packers are they're Wisconsin team. But they're also a nationwide. They're a global brand. There's fans everywhere. Sure.

And the the Packers. I've got a line on that. I got a line. Go ahead. Um, if you grow up here, the Packers choose you.

But you need to choose the Brewers. I would argue you definitely need to also choose the Bucks. You you you you you need yeah.

So, this is this is true of the Bucks too. I just think it's more of a baseball state. There's more baseball fans, so that's just a basketball baseball thing. But I, you know, growing up, Aaron Rodgers got talked about on First Take. You know, Stephen A.

Smith and Skip Bayless, and what I said on the show. This is a line that I was very proud of. I said, when I think of Packers Bears, I think of America's Game of the Week on Fox. When I think of the Brewers, I think of Fox Sports Wisconsin. It's just it's much more.

It's more. What about when you think about Bucks basketball on May twenty-four? All of this is also true about the Bucks. The Bucks are just—it's a different sport.

So, I think for all those reasons, yeah, it's the most meaningful. And I think we knew it would be. We've we've said forever. Like, if you would have asked someone four years ago, "Hey, if you could get a Bucks title, a Packers Super Bowl, or a Brewers World Series, what would mean the most?" Most people would have said a Brewers World Series. I think the the average Wisconsinite would have said that, and we were right, just based on what I felt in the conversations I've had since last week.

Quick comment to that point, Bart. You've long described baseball, and maybe it's just Brewers, but I think baseball in general as a regional sport. Yeah.

So that idea builds into what Grant is saying is like if you are in Wisconsin, and no, it's not a regional sport; it's a national sport. But. You you don't watch every other team like well that's that okay no baseball is not a regional sport it's just I'm using your words no I've always said it's not a regional sport that's not true yeah it's not a regional sport everyone says baseball is a regional sport I say no the problem is you don't. No, it's not. We do live in a world where it's not impossible for Paul to know better what Bart has said in the past than Bart.

It's absolutely possible. I'm not going to like. I'm not picking sides here. But if you're listening, you're like Paul. I think Bart would know what he said.

Like, there's a good chance Paul remembers Bart's words just as well, if not better than Bart. I mean, Bart said most of those very closely. Bart listened to Bart had said most of those words deep in the bag.

Well, that—that's not even what I was saying. I was—I'm just kidding. That was more a comment on Paul's. I'm not drunk during these. No, this wasn't.

Yeah, never mind. It was six in the morning when you said most of these regional takes back in the day with the with the Chuck. I'm not drunk in the morning. You were a couple times, Paul. Wait, yes, you were.

I was maybe maybe slightly still drunk once.

Okay, half asleep. Yeah, that's different. But what I thought Grant said that made sense to what I thought you had said all those times was that you're watching Brewers on Fox Sports Wisconsin. You're watching the Packers on the America's Fox Game of the Week, which is that difference between like regional, where you might enjoy it more as your local team. You feel closer to like I'm from Wisconsin, so I like the Brewers, whereas the Packers are.

You know, one of the two, along with the Cowboys, America's teams. You like the most popular entity, bigger than the state of Wisconsin.

Well, and and even the Bucks. You know, I'm I'm not going to sit. I'm not going to tell you the Bucks are a national brand. They're not. They're hardly a statewide brand unless they're really good.

But yeah, Giannis is getting talked about. Through these big NBA channels, right? Like Giannis is a topic.

So maybe not the Bucks, but Giannis, who was the Bucks for that run, that's a nationwide topic. That's a nationwide thing. You know, I don't turn on Bill Simmons and hear. You know, talk about William Contreras's pitch calling or what? Yeah, like the Brewers are a thing that we we have.

They're they're ours. They're very much ours. Um, and when they're in the World Series national stage, people talk about them, but it still very feels very very personal. Yeah, hyper like more hyper specialized a Brewers fan versus say, but I think that is also too why the NBA is built on its stars. Not honest teams.

Absolutely, it's why Yanes can be as big or better, or big as big or bigger than the team he's on any one moment. Bart, you had said you wanted at least one of us to go first. Grant went. Do you want to go next, or would you like me to go? I'd like to hear you go.

So I think this is how I'm going to answer this with like detached a little bit, and then I'll go into like the more personal part of it. The best story is unequivocally the Brewers. Grant, to your point, like it had a linear progression, right? Like to to creep your way through. And Bart, we've talked many years back about people liked the Jordan run with the Bulls better because of its linear progression.

You could say, okay, okay, now they just got to get past the Pistons, and again, but once they hit the top, then they stayed on the top, and so there was it just made sense to people. And I think that's part of why it's like. People like that storytelling. I think the best story of the three, if you were writing a book on all three, I mean, the Packers story would be based around how Rogers was in his second season as a starter after taking over for Brett Favre and the big fallout of there. I think that's a really interesting story.

But Rogers was still like 27 years old when that happened. McCarthy was still a coach in his like probably early mid 40s. Like there was still time. For that team to win again, and in fact, as we know, the following the the next regular season, 2011, they were better, and then you know blew it in the New York Giants playoff game. But there was time, so I think that story is a really interesting story, especially around Rogers and taking over for Favre and trading and Ted Thompson's big decision paying off.

Like those are huge things. The Bucks story is that you know the only thing you can say. About the Milwaukee Bucks historically is like, well, no free agents ever gonna go there, and they weren't ever bad enough to pick in the top five, except for the Andrew Bogut year. Big dog, sorry, mid nineties. You know, I guess I was thinking.

Post, post, like the past twenty five years, like post Ray Allen, Big Dog, Sam Cassell, George Karl. But no, you're right. But for the most part, it's like you're gonna get like, can you really capitalize? Like the Herb Cole Bucks were the perpetual eighth seed. That was the running bit mostly because it was true.

You're gonna get the 12th to 14th pick. Good luck. Like in the NBA, you're gonna, you're not gonna get that star player. And then this is just what it is because no player is ever gonna choose to go to Milwaukee.

So I think that's the story there, and of course, the unbelievable ascension of Giannis from this 18 year old skinny kid from Greece into being the best player in franchise history forever and always is a pretty good story. I mean, Giannis and the Bucks—it's a really good story too. That's not to minimize that story; that's pretty darn good. I think for me, then, so that's my that's my high level for me personally. I think what I discovered about those three championships when I was thinking back on them is, I think I like.

I think I felt the most personal attachment, and it might have been age specific, but to the Bucks. Oh, I think that's my answer. Growing up, a Bucks fan was a very. Do you put the NBA Cup over the World Series? Obviously not.

Um, I think I never conceptualized either team, Bucks or Brewers, winning their respective championship. But I think my answer was the Bucks, and I think it was my discovery of like. If I had to rank them of like what I cared about the most, and again, it might be age specific. I mean, the Bucks one was coming off the heels of 2020, like everything that we all went through and everything that happened. And then it's like, holy shit!

Like the Bucks won the title in front of like you know, and Bart, you being at the Deer District, and you know all the stuff that went with it, and the forty thousand odd people that were there that night. And even though I wasn't just watching that. I think my answer is the Bucks, so it's you're you're picking between wonderful moments, but I think that's my answer. Bart, brought to you by Carl's Place, and don't forget our friends at Happy Place Hemp. Promo code Bart twenty five percent off.

Bucks post game shows are. Bucks post games bring you in, and then talk about whatever you want.

Somebody commented last night. I thought this was a Bucks post game show. First of all, you ain't getting a lot of options other than me.

Okay, there is a couple more, but can't stare a gift post game show in the mouth. Right. I mean the fact that. Yeah, the fact that I even say the word "box," I think is pretty good. At Edward Jones, we believe rich isn't about having life all figured out.

So the you you think back to where you were and what you were doing and what it meant to you in February 2011 for the Packers in July of 2022, no 2021, excuse me, for the Bucks, and then in October of 2026 for the Brewers. The one that meant the most to you in that moment. Is the Brewers winning the World Series? Or I've always said Packers, Brewers, Bucks. Packers, Brewers, Bucks.

Okay. And throughout this run, I was realizing to myself, like, has it been the Brewers this whole time? Oh, has it been the Brewers? I mean, the Bucks, like, they stink right now. That game last, they are bad.

They are not. They forget thirty wins. I don't think they're winning twenty games. Why would I just? You threw five hundred bucks out the window.

Well, I was for a bit. That's already ended. I was hoping to stretch it into March. Money well spent. But now I'm betting twenty dollars on each game.

They're big underdogs, and then if I hit one of those games, I'll get a hot like yeah. You'll get it back. I found a way to lose even more money on this. That's how gambling works. You always get it back.

You keep going. The Packers.

Well, they won twice. The first time I watched it, my grandparents. Same, actually. The second time, I was near blackout at JRs in Fond du Lac. The Bucks.

I was hammered in the Deer District. I like the I like the like the pattern. I didn't. I didn't drink at all during these playoffs, but now it's at the point where, like, I got offered a drink at Halloween. But then someone is.

Somebody goes.

Somebody goes like, "Hey, do you want to?" Oh, that's what I never wanted to happen. That sucks. I know. Like, still, I said you could still offer me the drink. Were they let me say no?

Were they being an ass about it, or no? They're being like. They're like, oh, I shouldn't have done that. Enablers, Bart. Enablers.

Um, but I think during this run, I was thinking, you know, is it the Brewers? I spent a lot of time covering the team. Like, yeah, I've been places I never thought I would go. I think for me, if I just like, if if I presented to you. The three different runs, um, or playoffs in general, I think the answer is is there because for the Packers, I've gone to some playoff games because I had a ticket with my buddy, and then he got married, so he started bringing her instead.

But I haven't gone to a playoff game since, and I haven't like gone out of. I haven't tried. For the Bucks, Idle Town. For the Bucks, for the Bucks, I was content. I had a press pass if I wanted it, but I was content to not be in the building or even buy a ticket to be outside for Game Six.

You mean? Yeah.

Or any of the? I don't think I went to one playoff game that run. I did go to the playoff game where Dame hit 30 points in the first half and then hit two more points in the second half. This is why you brought me here. But by the way, see ya.

Yeah.

For the Brewers, I—I mean, I went to Tampa to watch a game. You—you refuse to let the moment pass you by without being there. Yeah.

And I didn't, I didn't pay to go here, but I went, and then even after the afterwards, like I'm buying a bunch of stuff. I'm, I'm wearing a sweatshirt I bought. I bought more shit yesterday. I'm recreating this frame. This seven, you know, this old Brewers fan.

I got new cards and a new SI cover and a journal. I'm like I'm documenting this, and living in Milwaukee. But even in 2008, in 2008, like I left my job in La Crosse, and part of the determining factor was the Brewers were going to be in the playoffs for the first time in my lifetime. I wanted to go to more games. I had the strip back then.

So I wanted to be closer. It's the Brewers for me. I just I never thought this would happen, and I've been very clear about that. And I I don't know that I needed it. That like I didn't need the.

I love the Brewers. I think when the Brewers are when the Bucks are bad, it's like okay maybe I'm not going to watch every game. And when the Packers are bad, whatever. The Brewers are bad. It's like, all right, I'll go to a game.

I'm still more prone to go to a game or watch on TV or have it on or get into who's coming up or whatever. I just it's the Brewers. They were my second favorite team. Remember, I like the Cubs at first. I do remember.

I like the Cubs and Brewers. Cubs are on TV more, but I like the Cubs and Brewers. And then I picked the Brewers over the Cubs. I could have choose stay with the Cubbies, or I goes on. I like both because my grandpa blah blah blah.

That was my take I had the other night. Like all these people that are like, "Oh, I'm so happy for my grandpa. He got this." Fuck your grandpa. Fuck your dad. Like.

The Brewers have only been around since nineteen seventy. It's not like it's not like they had that much more strife than I did. I've been waiting my whole life. What fourteen more years than me? Ooh, like if you are a Cubs fan, okay, nineteen oh, you know, you've been alive forever.

The Brewers, fuck, half of you, you old, you worked for the Braves. You got to see the Braves win. If you're if you're like crying over the Brewers won, but you saw the Braves win, nah, no, I'm better. It matters more to me.

So it's the Brewers. How much of that is if if you had only seen one Packers Super Bowl? Let's say they didn't win in '97, and you only had 2010, or vice versa. Does that change the equation? Because I I think it might.

I wasn't around in '97, so I I only know 2010. I I also think. A little bit of a problem. I was. By the way, we call it ninety six.

Ninety seven was ninety six.

Sorry, it's the ninety six season. Thank you. It took place in ninety seven. I think it's. I also think it's year specific.

So my answer would have unequivocally. Obviously, Paul the kid and the. I live in Milwaukee ish. Sure would.

So what I would say is, had the Brewers won in twenty eighteen, that's the year of the Chris Taylor catch, right? Yes. That was the year I went to thirty Brewers games, at least, and was there for that fucking catch. That one, there was no question in my mind. If the Brewers won in 2018, that would have been number one.

Like, so it is. It's not to me. It's not just like specific to. I like the Brewers more. Thank God they didn't, though.

The same way we're like, thank God the Bucks didn't win during COVID. Thank God we didn't win with council. I mean, seriously, that fucking rules works out pretty well for us. Yeah.

By the way, it is part of what, to my earlier point, is part of what makes the Brewers' story that much more interesting is that their general manager and their, you know, manager both opted to leave to you know what they thought was greener pastures, and didn't. In fact, they got better as a result. Like in both departments, the front office got better. Everything happening on the managerial front got better.

So. I do think my answer would have been 2018 Brewers because of the level of connection that I was doing because you went to a lot of games, yeah. Like so, it is personal. It's a personal question.

Okay, I just want right.

So I don't think it's like here's my favorite team. Here's my favorite, but also, guys, this was the last one of the three. Like, I've now seen all my teams win. Yeah, in 15 years, it's I. I like I want for nothing.

We should we should we should acknowledge if you are actually like I know there's, Bucks fans who are also Cubs fans, but like if you are a true Wisconsin sports fan. We are extremely spoiled these past fifteen years. We've been spoiled our whole life. Can I? I need these people to fucking stop.

And Bart, you've been yelling about this for the most part. I'm content to let you yell about this because you're so good at this. That stupid fucking tweet every time with all the losses and these people after after we lost one game to the Rays, like they, I, I swear they want it. They want it. They don't want to lose.

They want to be able to talk about, and that's our lot in life as a Wisconsin sports fan. Like you guys, we've seen it all now. Like, sorry, you've seen your teams lose. That means they were in the playoffs. Like, would you rather be a Pirates fan?

Would you rather be a Lions fan? Like, guess what? The cost of doing business as a contender every year is you're going to lose some really tough playoff games. That's that. I still think our playoff losses stacked up and put together.

Are a lot more tragic than people give us credit for, but that doesn't mean we need to be all fucking sourpuss about it and cry every time that we lose. We did. We we we lost twice, not in a series, in the entire fucking postseason. We lost. Two times, and one was in twelve innings.

Yeah, and both times it was just a calamity of confusion and despair and distraughtness, and we're so done. And here it goes again. Oh God forbid, we're up three one in the fucking World Series. I mean, I just I.

So, in retrospect, yes, I should have put up parade chairs a long time ago. But also, I still feel like, for the most part, this was as united as we've ever been. Like the negative feelings came on the night of the loss. Oh, but for the most part, it was a it was a pretty like what I said against the Padres. Like we already did it.

It's just a matter of doing it. What if they had lost five to one? I I seriously think a big part of the reaction in that game was because of how they lost. Sure. And then we're saying, oh, what would you have pitched, Miz?

Which shouldn't have been a question, but it was everyone's question. Yeah, go pitch Miz. Yeah, I'm sure I'm sure he'll be fucking ready for it. Yeah.

And then he gets torched, and then we're playing Kyle Harrison, and all of a sudden it's Halloween night in a game seven. What do you think about that? And and I brought this up on my show. It would have been great if they had won in four because they would have swept the CS and the World Series and Cooper Pratts home run. What a memory!

But the fact that they didn't win in Game Four gave us Game Five, which gave us Miz's best outing of the postseason. Which I think it adds a little bit to the way I remember Miz. I didn't think. I didn't think nothing of the way he performed in the playoffs, but that was a that was a real appearance in a real spot from him. And McGill got to close out a game, and Ashby had kind of reserved him to the chair in the corner in a couple of outings.

So, like now, when we think of Trevor McGill, we think of that game and him celebrating, and we don't think like, yeah, he kind of lost his job in the playoffs, but whatever. Like, how many strikeouts did Miz have two in that game? Not very many. Yeah, I just kept watching, and the angle I was at, like when I watched it back on TV. When you watch like a single, it's like pew.

But when you watch it that far high, it's like it takes forever, dude. It's like your time is different than the time down there. It's like, why is this ball in the air so goddamn long? Oh my god, I saw it with my own eyes. You did.

I saw the final out with my own eyes, and I can watch it anytime I want right in here before I get dementia. I liked that you. I liked your tweet about that. That you, you know, you said, "Did I do the right thing?" I think. I think.

I think. I think you did, because it's being recorded. If you were at an event that's not being recorded, that you can't just turn on your DVR. What do I need a iPhone for? No, but you know what I mean.

I think that I do think that's a difference.

So, like, if you're at an event and recording something that you cannot, I spent the last.

So I spent the first five innings in my seat. And then I spent the sixth inning trying to find frames. I was just like trying to see because in Miller Park you can walk by and wave to the press. He was in the press box. Yeah, but you can't do that there.

And then in the seventh inning, my friend was sitting out in like they have an outfield that's like five rows of bleachers. It's so weird. It's the weirdest park ever. Um. And then I was like, I went in the standing room kind of and was just pacing.

I I just paced the last three innings. That's how I spent most of these playoff games, just pacing, just listening to the game and walking, moving around. And I do think of like all the and and you know the kid aspect of it. Like, yeah, I'm trying to think what his core memories are are going to be of this, and it's going to the stadium for the watch party when he did tarps off. And then the parade, and he's always going to have the.

I don't know that he'll remember, you know, the games like we do, right? But just two unbelievable, like crazy moments, you know, not typical of a seven-year-old's life. Oh, here's a championship parade downtown. Oh, you get to go to this empty stadium where there's thirty thousand people there, selling out every night. Like the fact that, like.

People keep saying like what means the most, and we're talking about it now. I do think that the Bucks one we have to remember was just out of the pandemic, and there was no Summerfest that year. And how many people in that Deer District were Bucks fans, and how many people were just underage teenagers trying to smoke weed away from their parents. I think that was a big one. A lot of people down there that did not care too much about the Bucks.

I'll just. This it was all Brewers, and the demand was so high. And you can't do anything. And there is no way in hell I would ever wake up on a Sunday morning and go try to get served by Christian Yelich at a raising canes, but thousands of other people would. Thousands of other people would, and I would never wait for William Contreras at a Dick's Sporting Goods.

But thousands of other people would, but I would wait in line for merch. And I have bought everything that I can even fucking think of, and I am going to be buying more stuff. And like I just, I, they won. They they won the world. I it happened so.

Like it's just over now, and that sucks. But it's it's the memories are forever. Just that intoxicating high. Oh, it's nothing like it that you had for a month. And I and I wasn't even there.

I didn't go to any of it. But just laying on my couch, just looking at tweets. Just well, even you being a part of the action on the first game. Oh, that was pretty cool. That was pretty.

I'll have that. Yeah, being in being the lots, and we were at the third ward for most of the day, and then tailgating. That was pretty cool. And the way they won these games, like if you look, I would love to, you know, in however many years, not let like if if my kids' kid didn't know, show him the games, like because they're all close. The Brewers all have a big moment in a bunch of them.

The at bats, I mean, just you know, Churio's at bat against Miller. There was there was so many ways this could have gone wrong, and they would not let it happen. This team just was not going to let it happen, no matter how much we tried to be all negative. And the crowds were great. I don't have to shit on the crowds; they were great.

They uh, you could say they understood the assignment. Is that part of like the linear progression though of the story of the Brewers that like you had to go, the team had to go through the losses and the close the playoffs, so did the fans. Like what what changed between you and railing against people who wouldn't like who got mad at you standing up and being loud at a playoff baseball game?

Something must have shifted in that year span, right? Like mentality wise, unless it just happened to be. One situation, I think a big part, Paul, was we didn't play the Cubs.

Okay, and I did say to you guys when we it was like you know I didn't want any part of the Cubs. The fact that you might have to go Cubs and Dodgers again, didn't want, or I think we all agreed on that. But that sucks. And then of course, Cubs losing to the Padres, you know, saved that part. You might be right.

It might have just been the Cubs aspect of it. Because there's too much we we care too much about that was the World Series last year. There's no doubt about it that it was for us and it was for them. I think is more important. Yes, it is, and I do think the three of us thinking back to that that day.

I do think we agree that the Cubs Series was the Brewers World Series, and it was like oh they oh they're gonna play the Dodgers after this. But yeah, that's just kind of like an extra thing that's happening, and also the Dodgers. Fucking performance was that they were terrible. Shohei was awful. Shohei pimped a home run because he was like clearly something.

Can you just be in jail already?

Well, so Yandy Diaz pimped a fly out. Yeah, William Contreras pimped a single. It was great postseason. Oh, who has it better than us? And and and you'll never like.

Even if the Brewers ever win again, you can't top the first time. All right.

So look, and you can't top this specific run. How do you top this run?

Okay. So you said something ten minutes ago that was my second topic, and you said something in the effect of like, I want for nothing. All you know, in the past fifteen years, all three of my teams have won. I want for nothing. This is actually I'm I'm leaving sports.

No, hold on. I'm doing a midterm post game tonight. You should wait to the Winkler reaction desk. Yeah.

So, if you want for nothing, that's kind of leads into my second question. You you get one more. We got the wild counties down here. Yeah.

We got we got Brookfield. Disappointing once again. The Betties. God only knows these people. These people up here all voted for fucking Reagan.

All right, you get one more in your lifetime: Packers, Brewers, or Bucks. You get one more. You got all three in the past fifteen years. You get one more. I don't know if it's next year.

I don't know if it's in twenty-five years, but you only get one more.

Well, you want it to be. If I only could get one more, honestly, one more. Let me. Should I? Sure.

You can go first. You get one more. No, no, no. But does this selection guarantee that our other other teams don't?

Okay. Yes. Okay. Okay. Yep.

Go ahead. You get one more, and that's it. You've made a deal. With the sports gods, okay. I have an answer.

Your answer is the Packers, or no? And by the way, hold on. If it doesn't need, it doesn't need to be like under Matt Lafleur. You can be proven right that Lafleur shit the bed and blah blah blah blah blah, and they bring in a new coach.

So I'm not saying in today's present situation, but okay, yes. Your answer is at some point in your life you get one more, and you want to be the Packers or Bart Winkler. Does anyone have a guess?

Well, I would have thought your answer was going to be the Packers, and I think if you step back, I don't know, I don't, I would have guessed the Packers. If I could get one more, one more, my answer would be this year's Bucks team. That would be amazing. I know. Okay, Giannis is gone.

You just gave the correct answer. I could get one more. I didn't know there was a correct answer. There's never supposed to be, but you just got it. Yeah, this year's bucks.

Outside of that, huh?

So not the Bucks. I mean, outside of this year. Wow, that was okay. Hot take. I mean, yeah, it's Brewers or Packers for me.

It's Brewers or Packers for me too. It's just a matter of.

So mine is not, and it's not badgers. I'm sorry, folks. I don't even include that because I'm not really a college sports guy. Just imagine if they could get a national title in football. No, yeah, that one.

I don't even shut up.

Now I take basketball over football. But still, is not on the level. If I could get one more, it'd be USA winning the World Cup. But I might as well, I might as well root for Milwaukee Pro Soccer to win the fucking USL Cup this year. To exist, to exist, right?

Oh yeah, that also. If I get one more, I mean, it had it was the Brewers. I think it's so much fun, really. But you, you said the second one. You said won't be as fun.

Yeah, but but a but a playoff run. I want to remind you, you're saying football. You're saying no, that you're signing up for having the Packers win a championship when you were 27, and that regardless of how many more wonderful years you get, you're never getting another one since you were 27. No, I never, I never wanted this deal. I'm not.

You created this, Paul. But also, I'm not signing. If you're saying I can have one more, get one guaranteed, none, then I'm not taking the deal. You don't get a choice.

Well then, I'll take the Brewers.

Okay, fair enough. How long? How long do you want to wait?

Now you get to pick.

So the Brewers. No, it's the Brewers. How many more? Do you Do you want it to be back to back? Yes.

Do you want to have twenty five years of like building back up? What do you want? You want back to back? Yeah.

Does that change if next year's a strike shortened season? No, because we just won this one.

Okay. I think a strike shortened season dampens the championship. What if what if they win it the the year after the lockout and then retroactively people can look back and say well if not for the lockout they would have three peated so we like get phantom credit for a champion phantom credit is great like the Badgers winning during COVID that's right okay so your answer is Brewers and it's immediate now you get one more and you want it now and you want I mean load load up the historical value onto Murph. Yelich, okay, Churio, of course. Pad the resumes.

You know what I mean? Interesting, because we've already got the eighty, the eighty squad. We got our guys: the Hardy, Fielder, Weeks, Braun. Yep. I don't need.

We got this crew. I don't need a fourth fucking team. You want these guys to be like beyond immortalized, and and it's great that like. These guys are the guys. Like even David Hamilton, I'm much more willing to have a part of my life for the next 40 years than Tony Gaffanino or Wes Helms.

Like, hey, you want to go check out Wes Helms? He's opening the new Trader Joe's in Wauwatosa. Yeah, I'd think I'd rather fucking sit on a. I don't know. A thing.

This the end of this broom. I mean, I I think the the Packers are gonna have to get one at a certain point. You know, like where where do we get to in ten? Fifteen years if the Packers haven't won another one. At Edward Jones, we believe rich means opening yourself to new possibilities.

Not making Super Bowls that you start to have that bad conversation that you never want to have. Like, do the Packers need another Super Bowl in the next twenty years to not be under threat?

That's up to the Packers. I don't need anything. Granted, and I don't, I don't want this to stay this way. I like as a sports fan, you always need to be. I don't know.

I mean, can I? I'm just trying to game out my life a little bit. Yeah.

And if I'm like 48 years old, and I'm down doing the Winkler verse, and I'm like, I need the. Oh my! It's only in six years, buddy. I don't think you're going to get a lot older. I think you're about to go.

I, as a sports fan, you, you, you can't be content. Like as a sports fan, I think you can. I am content. Oh, I see what you're saying. I'm happy.

I agree. I've seen what I need to see. I enjoy the games. They don't. If the Packers lose, it doesn't affect me.

Like I'm where I never thought I would be, and I don't think I should be. As a sports fan, I always need to be wanting. And right now, I'm wanting for not. I think the the other thing with the with the whole why it's the Packers. You're still on the honeymoon of that thought.

I know, I know. I just wonder how long I'll stay there. Yeah, because the Brewers, right? I mean, they were never supposed to do this in ever. No, but again, I would say neither were the Bucks.

And I do think that's what made the still still in like all one they were so close that I thought, but they didn't even. And I would say honestly, that's I think what makes the night. I know we didn't consider this one because Grant was not born yet. But like the '96 season Packers Super Bowl is extra special because like you didn't think that would happen. Like the like Bart, you always joke about the people that reminisce about oh the '80s Packers.

You just but like they were not. Supposed to do that.

Now we think of the Packers as the Packers. At the moment, it was like the fucking Packers won the Super Bowl. That's not this Green Bay, Wisconsin. Can you help me figure out why the more I get excited about the Brewers, the more I like feel disdain for the Packers. Like they are a nuisance to me right now.

I don't like them.

Well, I I think it's it's a team dynamic where I look at the Brewers and I say, man, you guys are achieving up to your talent level and then some. Yeah, you you guys are they are what you want a sports team to be, which is the the the parts Brewers could have easily taken us for granted. We'd still push two million through the gates every summer. Yeah, they didn't need to ever be good. True, the Packers.

Well, I think that's. I mean, to the two. I think granted, to the two million in the gate point, you can get. You can get that in a sixty win season. I guess I care less about that, and I just watch the team on the field.

And I watch the Packers. I'm like, you losers are better than this. How are you losing some games? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jesus Christ!

Like the Brewers, I watch them. Like man, you get every. They get every inch. Out of the the dollar spent on the roster and the talent that they have, when I watch the Packers, I'm like, you guys just you just lollygag your way through a season, and you're content to piss away every couple of games that you shouldn't lose. Like, yep, I I don't like a talented team that underachieves, and I think that's what the Packers have been.

I think that's a great point, and I know Bart, you half joked about the best one you would pick would be this year's Bucks because of the unbelievable improbability and the Giannis just left and all that other stuff. But I present to you this option to replace your answer here. What if it's the mid-season, not this year, but like a future season, a mid-season firing of Lafleur. New coach comes in and they win the Super Bowl that same year.

So it means you get to be you get to have a Packers championship while also being right about Lafleur not being the guy to get them there.

So you get both wins. You get your your Lafleur talking point win. And you get your Packers championship. That's got to be, be pretty good. Close contender.

I would rather, I would rather have that happen to Giannis than Lafleur. You'd you'd rather Giannis? Is it an anti Giannis thing? It definitely feels like you're more anti Giannis, and you're anti Giannis, and that you you are anti him specifically. You're not anti the national media.

You're not anti Miami Heat. You are you are him. Yeah, there's an there's an animus for him, the human, the person. Is that what this is? That's what I hear.

Yeah, I I I think that Giannis um knows he. He's following a path he doesn't believe in, and he's trying to make it work. And I want him to. I want him to. See the consequences of that, unless it was, yeah, unless it was all part of the plan that he.

There is no plan for him to get traded and come back to Milwaukee. Just to be clear, that at this moment, right now, could happen. I don't want it to. If that was the plan, they should have done this shit with Gary Trent. With you know what I mean?

Yeah.

What is the deal? Is that is that the Bucks being like, come on? Because for them to do this for Gary Trent, get all this fucking scuttlebutt, have. Scuttlebutt. Have everybody in the world be like, "Get the Bucks, get the Bucks," which is basically like picking on the kid with a broken arm already.

For sure, you want you want, and then the Bucks are just like, "No, we're not gonna, we're not gonna play them. We obviously did what you're saying, so come and get us because we're not playing them. We paid him sixteen per. He's sitting right on the bench, barely even dressed." Come and fucking get us! Is that what they're doing?

Otherwise, they'd be playing him forty minutes a night. Get off our get off our ass! We don't. It's not like we need to play these other guys. Oh no, is is Ryan Rollins gonna lose minutes?

Ooh. I would say, having watched every second of every Bucks game so far, I've become increasingly concerned that the NBA is gonna fuck us. With the Gary Trent situation, like I'm, I'm waiting for that tweet that says the Bucks just got the Joe Smith treatment. Like I am becoming increasingly concerned that they're still investigating it, that Gary Trent Jr. is not playing, and that there's no reasonable answer for the 16 mil per year for four years, other than like the obvious thing.

So I. I that can't happen. Silver feel the need. What is Adam Silver really behind closed doors saying, man? If I don't come down hard on the Bucks, these fans, I mean, they're gonna kill me.

They're gonna think I'm weak. No one fucking cares. No one remembers that he's there. No, no one's thinking about this. I do think that's the difference.

I hope maybe I'm just being optimistic between that and the Kawhi situation, where like you are. A pathetic weakling. If you pretend that nothing happened in the Kawhi situation, people would have gotten over that too. Though it was the Clippers. No one, no one cares about the Clippers.

If you'd have done it on the Lakers or something, maybe. Yeah.

But but the Pablo Torrey, you know, thing too. Like you're just saying, like yeah, you're just saying the in-depth reporting of that. Yeah, it was covered. It was talked about enough where people go, "Hey, whatever happened to that?" Yeah, don't do that. If they don't do anything to the Bucks with Gary Trent, no one will care.

I I'm forgetting about the Gary Trent thing, and it's the team that I follow. It's probably because you you don't. Yeah, and also, um, the team, the team's not good. Correct. Yes, I think it's.

But there's some watchability there. I I've. Except when Kuzma's on the floor, dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kuzma is uh, he just.

I mean, they're obvious. the The very obvious answer is a. They don't have a different power forward, a different four.

So that's.

So it's kind of like a byproduct. Like I guess he's the only guy we got, but also they would love to. They would love for him to play well enough to be tradable. Obviously.

So I I think there's certainly a lot of that in Taylor Jenkins' case right now. Like same with Miles Turner, who's playing. He had a very you know he had a quite good game against Minnesota last night, but by and large he's been bad. The really sad thing is Ryan Rollins has been really bad. Like that sucks.

Like if you're thinking about the development of the Bucks, um, and like them being good in the next five years or at least respectable in the next five years, Ryan Rollins can't be this, and he's been. Bad, Tyler Hero's been good, by the way.

So if we're saying like the Kuzma thing, like is is Kuzma on this team next year? Like obviously not. Is Hero maybe? But the very least he's playing well enough that he's earning significant, not significant, but Tyler Hero even like last positive trade value for sure. Like they're without Ant the Timberwolves, but even with Lamelo Ball and Gobert.

And McDaniel's. It's just like they're adults playing against children. Those are real players, and in some cases, quite literally. I mean, you're you're playing two 19-year-olds together at various times, along with you know. I bet 500 real monies on them.

Real monies. A lot of season left. Grant, you didn't. I don't think you answered like this for the part B of it.

So I think Bart's answer is it's the Brewers and it's ASAP. Your answer is the Brewers and when. The Brewers, sometime, yeah, I think next year, the year after, sometime in the next twenty thirty eight, twenty thirty nine. I guess you're writing down, Paul. I'm building it.

I'm building on it because of the idea that I liked the thought. I don't remember which of you shared it, but then you are adding to the lore of Murphy. You're adding to the lore of Churio, of Terang.

So if you if you say I want it and I want it soon, you're getting like that double dose of. These guys aren't just like that one and done, which is still incredible. But like they were, yeah, dynasty adjacent. They did a thing multiple times. Any dynasty, yeah, totally.

Simmons would say, "I, I don't want to know when my. I'm not going to tell you when I want my team to win a title. That ruins the, that ruins the story. Yeah, we're playing a which I know is not the spirit of the question, right? Exactly.

I would want it somewhere down the line. I would want to. I would want to get to do this again in my life sometime. All right, disconnected from this group. Last question, completely complete pivot.

It's going to be a quick one. If you want, we've done multiple check-ins on this topic, and I'm going to do a check-in. This is the the check-in on the the Packers' leading rusher this season will be Josh Jacobs or who is it right now? Lloyd is it Marshawn Lloyd? I'm guessing like 180 yards.

I bet. Yeah, what's the rushing? Yeah, I'll tell you in the next ten seconds. I hope. Tim, Marshawn Lloyd with one forty nine, Caleb Johnson one hundred four, Josh Jacobs seventy five.

I'd like to say those numbers again because they've played enough games for this not to be true. Marshawn Lloyd one forty nine, Caleb Johnson one hundred four, Josh Jacobs seventy five, Chris Brooks seventy. The Packers' leading rusher this season, as you stated today. At this point in the year, will be Josh Jacobs, or and obviously that comes with a ginormous asterisk for multiple reasons. Why do you think, Matt?

Like, I'm just trying to be careful how I say this because the way Lafleur's acting about this whole Jacobs thing is not normal. It's it's not it's it's how every coach would do it. What do you mean?

Well, I don't think that's necessarily true. What Matt Matt's acting like Jacobs has something on him, or like Matt doesn't want to be harmed. I guess I don't understand. But continue. He is really supporting publicly.

He's putting a lot of equity in a guy who's averaging one point nine yards a carry. I don't think he. I think he's just saying we're going to let the process play out.

So he's going to be. But he's not confident in that. He's all stumbling and muttering and.

Well, that's because he's him. That has nothing to do with the message. That's the messenger. He'd stumble through any message because that's what he does. You're right.

He can't even pump up the Badgers team at halftime. Let's let's go let's go win this shit. I would anticipate him being a member of us moving forward. A member of us. Yeah.

A member of us. Good one. Because because he's not. My point is, there's there's not a coach or an organization in football that would get up there all tear eyed and be like, "This is not, it's not a decision we take lightly." And we, you know, domestic violence is a real problem. But you can do it to do that.

You can do it in a macho way. You can be like, "Look, we got to figure out what's going on here. The law's going to play out. Until then, he's a member of us." I feel like that's basically what he said, though. I guess that's not that.

No, he said. It's an unfortunate situation, and we just, you know, I we know what we know, and I mean.

So yeah, but again, that's that's just anything he would say, he would say it like that. I don't, I don't think this Jacobs thing is any different than any other answer he'd give on any topic.

So what's your final answer? Final answer, but tone and demeanor is important. I think it'll be Lloyd. I don't think Jacobs finishes the season. This guy.

He doesn't get it. He's doing a handcuff celebrate. He's not going to make it.

Something else will happen. It'll be it'll be Lloyd, who actually looked slightly better the other night, which says very little. But Lloyd, Bart, your answer. My answer is Emmanuel Wilson traded back from the Seahawks. Is your answer not Jonathan Taylor?

I was going to say Jonathan Taylor. Yeah.

Who's more likely to be? We're not getting fucking Jonathan Taylor. Why not? Haven't we done this a thousand times? Yeah, he can.

He can have his jersey retired right next to Tony Gonzalez and Randy Moss. If the Brewers can win the World Series, Jonathan Taylor can be a Packer.

Well, he's not going to be a Colt. I mean, he's not. He's getting traded. That's that's happening. Um, I don't.

Rams. Ugh. But you know, at this rate, have you got like the Packers? The whole NFC North's making the playoffs. Yeah, and I don't like it because the Packers are going to get let off the hook for building a shit team because because they're going to be the seven seed again or whatever if they're lucky, and everyone's going to say, "Well, what are you?

A bad year to be in the North." It's like, no, the team sucks. They can't run. They can't catch. They can't kick. And the rest of the division happens to also be good.

Those can be those can be two two part two things can be true at the same time. I just have to tell you, I think Paul has to go. The most, the most Q thing of all time.

Okay, Q just text me. Um, it's an election day complaint. You should do a bit on how terrible the jokes of poll workers have gotten. It's honestly becoming a detriment of voting. Like I'm not sure I will ever go back.

What are they saying? He, I don't. He's not going to go back. What are they saying? I voting hard or hardly voting?

What what's going on at Q's polling place? What could you even? What could you? I can't even come up with anything. I know, like priest humor.

Yes, that would make a poll worker humor. I've never heard of such a thing. Poll worker. The the problem with poll workers is they're all out to get you. I see.

Like. And where do you live? And can you recite your address? And, lady, look at me. I'm not scamming you.

You're not gonna get me. You're making me feel okay. Maybe I, maybe I see what you're saying. All right, that's all I got. Boys, good to see again.

Same back, nice to see you, Paul. As well, we're back next week to break down some of the NBA Cup results. Absolutely, that that again was Paul's wish list. Still an NBA Cup second banner. Thank you for stopping into the Inklerverse.
