Yeah. The JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast I think that's a good idea. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much to everybody tuned in, everybody locked in, everybody listening all over North America. I hope you're safe.
I hope you're well, I hope you're amazing. I hope you are all of the things. This is when the show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern. Three Pacific.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much to our producer in New York City, Ryan Botcher. I hope you had a good day. We got a lot to get into. The NBA is back.
Yes, the twenty twenty five twenty six season gets under way. How about this? In about ninety minutes from now. We got the Rockets and Kevin Durant making his Rockets debut, we got the Thunder, getting ready to raise a banner. and then later on this evening we have the Warriors and the Lakers.
Yeah, times are changing because also the NBA is back. On n B C. Oh man, that was the golden era. Matter of fact, we're going to have a chat with someone, a familiar voice here on the Infinity Sports Network, Dave Shepard, my old producer. Shep will be here with us next hour as he's going to have some coverage as well.
Courtesy of Sirius XM. You know, after all of the games.
So we'll have a chat with Shep later on in the show. Of course, last night. A big night in baseball. The Dodgers know their opponent. The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to head to Toronto, Canada, and take on the Blue Jays.
Because they picked up that Game 7 victory last night. Against the Seattle Mariners. We're going to talk about the Blue Jays in a second. We're going to talk some baseball later on in the show. Kyle Glazer is going to join us from Foul Territory.
That'll be a lot of fun. We found out some other things. Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets, Uh not a fan. of Justin Fields. Also, Russell Wilson, how about this?
He he got a little bit of a backbone. Russell Wilson throws some shade right back at Sean Payton for basically dissing him after the Broncos went out there and beat. The giants, I will explain. You know last night when we were on the air? Mike Evans went down, looked like he was concussed and had a shoulder issue.
Yeah, that guy was knocked the hell out. He also broke his collarbone. Looks like Mike Evans is going to be out for the season. Brandon Graham looks like he's back with the Eagles. The Seahawks won over the Texans last night.
Belichick is getting closer to the Hall of Fame. The Angels have a new manager. The Knicks could have got Giannis if they wanted to. Max Crosby, maybe he's getting moved to the Dallas Cowboys. A.J.
Brown. apparently still not happy, We got a lot to get into. I'm happy. If you want to be happy, you can always listen to this show on the free Odyssey app. You can lock in on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate.
You got SiriusXM at Channel 375. If you got a smart speaker, be smart. Ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. Bacha, how are you doing? You good?
You ready for basketball back? Ready for hoops. More excited for tomorrow where my favorite team plays, the Nets, but I don't mind Luka Doncich playing the Warriors. How many Nets fans are there? Like five of y'all?
Uh, I think we're growing slowly. There's like maybe seven now. All transplants from New Jersey, right? Little bit of Jersey, a little bit of youngins from Brooklyn. Other than that, yeah, there's nobody.
All right.
Well, yeah. Yeah, everybody looking forward to the Brooklyn Nets. We'll talk about the basketball that we have upcoming. Later on this evening. Before we get to Any basketball or any NFL.
You know, when we left the studio yesterday, George Springer did not crank out. His three run home run. when we left the studio yesterday. It looked like the Seattle Mariners were gonna hold on and And win game seven. It was early, okay?
We saw Julio Rodriguez hit a home run, Cal Raleigh hit a home run, the Mariners had a 3-1 lead going into the seventh inning. And then, well, we saw Brian Wu, who we've talked about a lot over the past several weeks. Brian Wu, who's been dealing with a pectoral issue.
Okay, so he's had some chest tightness, but he was on a mound last night. And he pitched two and a third innings, and then he went out there, he walked the guy in the seventh, okay? and then he gave up a single. And then they took him out the game, and the men And then he put in Bizardo, and then George Springer, with his busted up knee. He walked up to the plate, and then George Springer did this.
1-0 pitch. Swinging a flyball. Left field and deep. Arojo Reyna turns. Goo!
A springer, dinger, four. 4-3 Blue Jays in the bottom of the seventh. Yeah, George Springer ended up moving them ahead. They ultimately won the game after that fact that Blue Jays bullpen came through and locked things up. Vladimir Guerrero I mean, he didn't hit the home run that George Springer did, but when you take a look at Vladimir Guerrero, this man went out there, he batted 385.
Hit three home runs He was just a monster. Had an OPS of 1.3 here in the American League Championship Series. And after the game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., he got the MVP and he was asked about re-signing with the Blue Jays, and he's like, yes, this is everything I expected. When you signed to stay here in Toronto before this season, Is this exactly what you had in mind? Yes Yes, but They just not finished.
We got four more to vote. Oh yeah, they're going to have to get four more against the Los Angeles Dodgers. George Springer, who didn't win the MVP but ultimately won the game with that home run, three run bomb in the seventh inning. George Springer is just like, you know what? This team right here?
Like we love each other. How often do you hear that from a group? I know that everybody is playing for the name on the front and not the name on the back, and anytime you can get. A group of you know, guys, a locker room, a support staff, staff that has one goal, and that's to play for the name on the front. It's something special.
Yeah, you is quite jovial in the locker room. Yeah, what is that? Botch ass fetty whop, right? Trap queen. Yeah, that's a throwback.
That's a good one. Excuse me? That's a good song. I was a. It's a.
It's a throwback, how far along does it have to be a throwback? Ten years? Oh my god, 10 years. Oh my god, bacha. 10 years is a throwback.
So I listen to music from like 85. Big Daddy Kane. What is that? That's like a super throwback.
Okay. All right.
Well, thank you for educating me, Botcher.
Okay, sure. Yeah, fine.
Well, I'm happy that they were having fun. in that clubhouse. We got another clubhouse last night.
Well, They're down. The Seattle Mariners have never been to a World Series. They've never won an American League pennant. Every time they get close, whether it's winning 116 games or this season finally picking up the bats and getting close, Close isn't good enough. Seattle always ends up.
Of the stick. It sucks. The manager, Dan Wilson, he's like, you know what? We lost. And now we just gotta fuel the fire for next year, sure.
All of us now have had a taste of how close we can get and how good this team can be. And so I think once you get that, that's what you're shooting for again the next year. And I know That will continue to be the goal. That was the goal this year. It will continue to be the goal is to get to that final step.
And this year we're one game short. Good luck, it's never easy. Good luck, it's never easy. I mean, for g think about this. The Dodgers are the best of the best, right?
The Dodgers haven't repeated. The Dodgers are trying to repeat. We haven't had a repeat champ. Since the New York Yankees went on a three peek, The late 90s into 2000. And even then, they tried to go further.
They lost in 2001. That's the last time we had a team, an organization. you know, put together a stretch of victories like that. And so, forget trying to get to the next step. Like, every year is just almost one major flip of the coin.
Now Seattle does have the talent. They've added pitching.
Well, they've had the pitching.
Now they got bats and Hopefully they can uh continue on. I know it was very painful in that locker room. We heard how jovial it was. in the Toronto Blue Jays locker room. They were at home.
I don't know. In Seattle's locker room, it just sounds like the guys were in pain. Brian Wu didn't give up the home run to Springer. But the two guys on base were his. And Brian Wu was asked about this after the game in the locker room.
And apparently, I don't know. There somebody in Seattle's locker room needs a hug. Con is further than any other team in franchise history. Um Legacy is no one's really satisfied or happy with this, I think. Yeah, nobody was happy with that.
Bacha, can we just hear that again? End at the screen. Con is further than any other team in franchise history. Yeah. Yeah, th there's your answer right there.
Of c of course guys are hurting and pay I don't know. And thank God we didn't hear any thuds of bumps along with that scream. It was rather primal. Vicious. painful.
At least it was a scream, and Yeah. It didn't appear that anything got broken in the process. Oh, it's tough. You know, I feel for Seattle, I feel for their fans, I feel for the organization. They were so close.
They had a two O series lead. They let the Toronto Blue Jays get back into this one, forcing a game seven. And I would say now they gotta sit around and watch at home, but those guys ain't gonna watch this series, man. I don't know, maybe they got one sicko on the team who who will go out there and sit around and just Oh, maybe maybe watch, but ain't nobody want to watch that. Not if you're a Mariners fan, not if you're a Seattle fan, you're not doing that.
Kudos to the Blue Jays, man They haven't been to the World Series since 1993. You want to talk about throwbacks? We got to go back to Joe Carter. That's the last time we saw the Blue Jays this far. And the the the beautiful thing There's only one team in Toronto now, okay?
The Nationals are no longer in Montreal, they're no longer the Expos. The Toronto Blue Jays don't just represent Toronto. The Blue Jays represent an entire country. And so, when John Schneider, the manager of the Jays, was asked about this, He's like, you know what? Yeah, we're out here representing Canada, and that's special.
From coast to coast to have this team to grasp onto is really cool. And it's easy for me to say that because I've been part of it for a long time. And I felt the connection when I was managing in Vancouver. You know what I mean? As a minor league affiliate, as a Canadian big league team, too.
So it's special for everyone that's involved with our organization. Oh, I'm I'm happy for Canada too. I like Canada. I love Toronto. Beautiful city, international city.
Food is good. People are good. I love Toronto. I think the luck is going to run out though. I'm sorry.
I understand these these these Jays are a good team. They got a throwback performance. For Max Scherzer, I think that played a major part in them turning things around. Max Scherzer could have stunked the joint up. Or he could have had a great game of of of which he did.
Is he going to do that again? Am I going to go ahead and trust these Toronto Blue Jays the same way that I trust the Dodgers? I think not. I got no shame in my game. I think this is going to be a good series.
I would expect the Blue Jays to pick up, and I would say two wins, two to three wins. Am I forcing a game seven? You know what? Figure three wins. I'm going to give the Blue Jays.
Two victories. I'm going to pick the Dodgers to win this series. In six games. I think the Dodgers will handle business. I like the Dodgers.
I know they're starting pitchers. I know they got a surplus of 'em. I know they got bats. Apparently some guy named Shaw Hail Tani has decided to wake up. Had one of the biggest postseason performances that you will ever see in your Life's I like the Dodgers to repeat The Blue Jays just got here.
Dodgers have been here. Dodgers have been here over and over and over again. The Dodgers have been whooping ass for the past decade. The Dodgers just added Shohei Otani a few seasons ago. And now, after winning in a World Series last year, The Dodgers have an opportunity to bounce back this year.
But then they can also throw Shohei Otani out there on the mound. Are we going to get I don't know, ten strikeouts and three home runs again? I don't think so. And I know Vladimir Guerrero is dangerous. I know George Springer has been here.
MVP banging on garbage cans, good for him. It's going to be competitive. The Dodgers are not going to steamroll anybody. There were a lot of people expecting the Brewers to put up a fight. The Brewers went six and oh against the Dodgers in a regular season.
It didn't matter, the Dodgers swept em. When push comes to shove, A Yamamoto A snow. A glass now. Got a Sasaki coming out of the bullpen. Here, young guy, you're the youngest one.
Just go close the games. I don't care what the Dodgers' bullpen looks like. They goin' get the job done. And that Otani guy, yeah, let's just go ahead and give him another MVP. Last year Freddie Freeman won World Series MVP.
He just absolutely killed. the New York Yankees. Let's see what Sho Ha Otani can do. In Canada, Game number one Is this upcoming Friday? It's going to be a madhouse.
Up in Toronto. I'm looking forward to it. And let's see if Oltani is a difference maker. I don't know. They got Springer, they got Freeman, they got Betts, they got Muncie.
I mean, we can go on and on about the offensive firepower. But where the Dodgers get the edge, It's the starting pitching. I'm gonna go with the Dodgers to just Go back to back, something that we haven't seen since the Yankees. And it's not just me. There's a lot of people that are going to be paying attention to this series.
There's a lot of people who want to see Shohei Otani. I mean, how the hell Deance Sanders was a multi sport athlete, but certainly didn't go out there and play, you know, defensive backing and quarterback. Today, during his press conference at Colorado, Dion was asked about Otani, and he's just like, yo, can we just give him the MVP already? He did what? Six innings, struck out 10, and then went three for three at the plate and hit three home runs in a closeout.
Did they just hand him to MVP during the game? I was going to ask you if you think that's the best Best individual performance, maybe not just in baseball, but for a single game in sports history. Yeah, because he's doing something that's unfathomable. I'm not gonna say sports history because I don't re I can't recant everything that has transpired in sports history. I've seen some Wonderful.
tennis matches. Um I don't really watch golf. But I've seen some wonderful things that has transpired in sports that it's hard for me to say that, but that is unbelievable, man. Unbelievable. It's so funny because when I'm in the cafeteria, the the the the baseball games are owned and I'm thinking, dang, I really used to do that.
he used to do it. Used to do that, used to play some football. Ain't nobody doing what Otani is doing. I'm gonna go with the Dodgers. to beat the Blue Jays in the World Series.
I'm going with the Dodgers to go back. To Back. Hey, congratulations to the Blue Jays. Hey, congrats to the Mariners. They don't want to hear it.
They don't care. They didn't ultimately get to the World Series. They didn't win it. Better luck next year. I'm going with the Dodgers to win a World Series.
It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. In a few hours, we're going to have a chat with Kyle Glazer. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Reef Show here with you coast to coast. on the Infinity Sports Network. Last night the Toronto Blue Jays, they came back to kill off. THE SEATTEL MARINERS.
Meanwhile, in New York City to day, During NFL owners' meetings, In a terrible situation. I thought Woody Johnson said he was going to do better. That's the owner of the New York Jets, he's the Band-Aid man. Johnson and Johnson family, yeah, his family made money selling gauze and band-aids.
Now they sell medicine and a whole bunch of other things.
So he's a rich kid. God bless 'em. I will tell you this. It's rare. Outside of Jerry Jones.
Where you have an owner, who is direct and critical of his own players. That's almost a Jerry Jones Exclusive. This guy wants to talk after all the games. He's doing weekly radio hits down in Dallas. Jerry Jones is in the category all by himself.
Today during the owners' meetings. When Woody Johnson was available to speak with the media, He was asked about his O and Seven. New York Jets. The New York Jets are one of the worst teams in the NFL. They gave Justin Fields a two year forty million dollar contract, thirty million dollars guaranteed.
The New York Jets just lost to the Carolina Panthers. Thirteen to six. It's their second consecutive week where they did not score a touchdown. It's the second consecutive week that Justin Fields completely looked lost and. You can obviously tell he's regressing.
I mean against the Denver Broncos he completed Nine of seventeen passes for forty five yards. What? Sunday before he got benched, At halftime, Justin Fields Went out there and completed six of twelve passes for For 46 yards.
Now does somebody have a voodoo doll of Justin Fields? No one will ever look at Justin Fields and confuse him with a pocket passer. No one will close their eyes and just go, boom. There's Peyton Manning that that will never ever happen. His athleticism, his speed, is a big part.
of his game. But his passing, dating back to his time here in Georgia with the Bulldogs, you can also go back to the Ohio State University his passing hasn't always been at the the top of the list. People have always waited for his passing to catch up with his athleticism.
Well, apparently that has hasn't even happened. with the New York Jets. We know last season he was benched for Russell Wilson with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Justin Fields. is looking done.
Do people in Chicago want him back? I don't think so. I don't think that. People want that anymore. And so after being benched, on Sunday.
There was all these conversations about whether or not he was going to get a start. His own head coach, first-year head coach with the New York Jets, Aaron Glenn, who used to play for the New York Jets, basically said, ah, you know, we gotta wait and see. We got a report out today via Rich Samini, who's covered the New York Jets for years and football in New York. He said that Tyrod Taylor is ultimately going to get the next start for the New York Jets, and that Justin Fields would see the bench. Tyrod Taylor is 36 years old.
Tyrod Taylor has been around since 2011. He backed up Joe Flacco. He was backing up Daniel Jones with the Giants. This guy has been around the Chargers, the Texans, the Browns. He had that starting stretch with the Buffalo Bills.
He's a transitional quarterback at thirty six years old. Not a lot of wear and tear because, quite frankly, he hasn't played a lot. And how about this? When he relieved Justin Fields on Sunday, he went out there and threw. Two interceptions.
The New York Jets might as well just. Just never win a game. They should just go 0117. I like the New York Jets. I hope they lose every single game.
I hope they do so in an embarrassing fashion. I hope they get the number one overall pick, at least so they could restart. But today, Woody Johnson speaking to the media. He trashed Justin Fields. I know Justin Fields might be at home sucking his thumb right now.
Justin Fields might want to trade from the New York Jets. Justin Fields might be going, why the hell am I here if the owner? Is gonna trash me. Listen to what Woody Johnson had to say about Justin Fields.
Well he's tur it looks like he's turning around parts of it. You know, it's hard when you have a quarterback with, you know, with a rating. that we've got, you know, I mean he has the ability, but something just is not jivin'. But if you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you're going to see similar results if you go across the league. You have to play consistently with, you know.
at that position and uh And that's what we're going to try to do. For the remainder of the season. This is what gives you hope, Ben gives you hope. I just think defense special teams are doing better. Defense is pretty good.
If we could just complete a pass, it would look good. Yeah, you gotta complete some path. You gotta convince them that you can do something. Oh, got to complete a pass. If we just had a quarterback who could complete a pass, I mean.
Damn, you don't you don't hear this? You don't hear things like this you don't hear things like this across sports. Could you imagine? I know that the Lakers' ownership is changing. Could you imagine if Jeannie Buss at any point.
over the last several years at any point just said, You know, it'd be nice if a You know Lebron James could make a jump shot. You know, like what are we what are we doing here? Like, that's bushly. For an owner to come out and take a dump on one of his players, I don't care who it is, that's Bush League. You know, if in the Woody Johnson.
was voted as one of the worst owners. In the NFL, by the NFL players in their association last year. The NFL PA said Woody Johnson was one of the worst. owners, one of the worst organizations. Woody Johnson then said You know what I need to evaluate?
what I do.
Well, Woody, you're doing a piss poor job. Because one of the things that you should not do as an owner Let's take a dump on the players. You know, if anything. Uh there's a hierarchy, Woody. Go ahead and praise Aaron Glenn.
You know, put it on the staff, put it on the GM, Daryl Moogie. Just go do that. You don't directly dump on the players, and then you think about this for a second. If I have an opportunity to join the New York Jets, and yeah, there are limited jobs in the NFL. 53 guys get full-time spots.
Dudes can get cut and bounced at any point in time. But if I'm a free agent, And there's similar money. Between I don't know one team and the New York Jin I I may look at the Jets and go. Why do I want to play for that dumpster fi? I mean, damn it, we had twenty-five years ago almost, Bill Belichick said, No thank you to working for Woody Johnson.
I think Bill Belichick made the right decision. He might have made some wrong decisions more recently when it comes to his dating and his personal life, but I digress. The New York Jets have been a disaster. From But fumbles. To Mark Sanchez, Mark Sanchez doesn't even play for the Jets anymore, and he's still an embarrassment.
fighting people trying to beat up old men in alleys. You got Rex Ryan and his His foot fetish issue itched just bad. For the New York Jets And now you got Woody Johnson trashing. His quarterback we just got there. And I know the trade deadline is November fourth.
W would anybody be shocked? I mean I guess Justin Fields isn't going anywhere. Who wants to pick up his salary? He's guaranteed thirty million dollars. Over the next two seasons.
He will not be back with the Jets next year. The Jets are going to have to eat that money. But would he? Maybe you should call out the GM. Maybe you should say you will leave that to the football folks.
instead of inserting your opinions. Because I know everybody in the locker room and it not just Justin Fields everybody's looking at Woody Johnson going Oh, he's just going to rat off at the mouth to anybody? S why the jets are a joke and Woody Johnson needs to stick to selling bandaids, or maybe being, I don't know, the ambassador to the United Kingdom. Running the New York Jets is not his thing. Let his brother take over.
I feel bad for Justin Fields, but he's getting thirty million dollars, I don't. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.
I guess on the bright side, the 36-year-old who's taken over, Tyrod Taylor, Yesterday he said, Uh I prepare every week like I'm gonna start.
Well, you better, 'cause you're gonna be starting now, man. Preparation doesn't change, like you said. Week in, week out, prepares the starter because you're always one play away, and there's a violent game that we play. Five. And the focus is now obviously digesting this game.
Critique and it would have Uh with a very critical ah. And moving forward on to our next opponent. Yeah. I can't wait for the New York Jets. Can't wait for them to lose and go O and eight against old man Joe Flacco, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. We are going to take a break. When we come back, I'm going to tell you about another NFL player. He's out.
Unfortunately, it's due to injury. Yeah, we saw Mike Evans get dropped last night. and his injury is pretty bad. We got Brandon Graham, who's officially back. With the Philadelphia Eagles.
We did get another Monday night football game. The Seahawks went right over the Texans. The Texans just looked dismal. And so we'll get into more football. We're going to get into basketball.
We're now an hour away from the start of the regular season. We got a lot to get into, but right now on the Infinity Sports Network, it's time for a news flash. Here he is, Rich Ackerman. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. At the top of the hour, we're going to get into some NBA action, as we are now less than an hour away. From the start of the NFL, or excuse me, so much football, the start of the NBA. Regular season.
We got the Houston Rockets getting ready to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. The NBA is also back on NBC. We'll get into that at the top of the hour in about twenty minutes. We talked about Woody Johnson destroying Justin Fields today. Very rare that you hear an owner you know, kinda publicly chastise and insult.
his starting quarterback. You you rarely hear that, if ever. And then of course, we talked about the Blue Jays picking up that Game seven victory over the Mariners last night in Toronto. While we were on the air yesterday, something else took place, and we actually had to pause and kind of give you an update. Mike Evans is one of the best wide receivers, has been in the NFL for the better part of 10 years now.
A matter of fact, he has been on a streak of hauling in more than 1,000 yards receiving in 11 consecutive seasons. This is his age 32 season. You know, a big, tall, lengthy wide receiver, you can typically last long, but everybody's going to slow down. You know, as you age. And so, dating back to last year, where he's still hauled in a thousand yards, barely did it, Mike Evans was dealing with a hamstring issue.
This season, Mike Evans was dealing with a hamstring issue, and last night was his return to action. as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were in Detroit, Taking on the Lions. Ultimately, the Bucs lost 24.5. to nine. But I think in the larger scheme of things, they lost Mike Evans.
We detailed it right here on the air. Mike Evans went on a deep pass. He went down, didn't catch the ball. He landed on his side, his shoulder. He also looked groggy as hell.
He had a difficult time walking off the field. He looked like he was knocked into next week. And then we learned after the game: well, just take a listen from Mr. Personality himself. No way to make this news positive.
Todd Bowles, the head coach of the Buccaneers, gave an update on Mike Evans. He has a broken clavicle, and he'll be out mostly toward the end of the year. We'll see what happens. Body broken. He broke his cl forget his shoulder The guy broke his collarbone.
Mike Evans is is likely done for the season.
Something else that's going to be done, Mike Evans just hauling in a thousand yards. uh for a season. I mean the Bucks with the loss, they fall to five and two. Good for them. They have the New Orleans Saints up next.
But the injuries have have just piled up. Mike Evans came back, couldn't even complete the game. Bucky Irving is still out, one of the best dual threats at the running back position in the entire NFL. He's a receiving threat as well as a threat on the ground. He's gone.
Chris Godwin is still trying to come back full term from his leg injury last year where it got blown to pieces. It's tough. You got to make up Buka, you know, he returned yesterday from a hamstring issue. here in his rookie season. But it just seems that the uh the Buccaneers are just Running out of gas.
Baker Mayfield, he's been playing like an MVP. He said it's his job not to let the losses just start. piling up. Great teams don't let that happen. We're different this year.
And like I said, got a lot of things to fix, and we will do that. We still have great leadership. It's it's another loss on our record, but still have great leadership and still a lot of ball left.
So it's this one sucks. It should suck. We expect it to play well. We expect it when we come out here and compete. But we'll get it fixed and we'll move forward.
Yeah, Todd Bowles, he continued on. He's like, Yeah, Mike Evans went down, but You know, we gotta keep on going, man. It's just what we gotta do. It's never good to see one of your stars go down like that, especially with him just coming back and everybody excited to see him.
So, you know, it's a tough blow, but we've been holding it down since he's been gone and we just got to regroup and come back. Good for them they get to take on the Saints. And good for the Lions picking up a victory. We saw Jameer Gibbs go out there, had two touchdowns. Dan Campbell was certainly impressed with him.
He's like, hey, the guy's actually in better shape this year. As he gets in better shape and starts getting his feet under him, you know, starts getting a feel of it, starts breaking some tackles, you just feel every week it's gotten closer and closer. Tonight was the night where it just he busted one of these out of there and and There'll be no looking back. I mean, I just, I think he's just going to continue to do this. Oh, good.
Good for him. He rushed for 136 yards in addition to those two touchdowns.
Next up for the Detroit Lions. They get a break. They get a little bit of a vacation. before they are back in action on November second against The Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are going to be in action against the Chargers this Thursday for Thursday night football.
By the way, J.J. McCarthy is still not playing. Carson Wentz will get another opportunity to go out there and throw a lot of interceptions. And so we'll see how that goes. The Detroit Lions continue on here in the season, they improve their record.
To 5-2, bouncing back after that 30-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
So the Lions are certainly going out there. And hitting their stride.
Meanwhile, hitting their stride, there was another game last night. The Seahawks ended up winning over the Texans. This was an ugly game. This was a sloppy game. The Seahawks won 27-19.
You got CJ Stroud still playing behind a crap offensive line. Texans' defense is good. The offense is garbage. The Seahawks don't have a running game, and they still win. one.
Jackson, Smith, and Jigba, one hundred and twenty three yards and a touchdown, and then Sam Darnold well, Sam Darnold even allowed Will Anderson to strip sack him and pretty much account for their only touchdown. Of the game.
Well, at least from the defensive side of the ball.
So the Texans going absolutely nowhere. The Seahawks, yeah, they're going to win some games. And then the important ones, they're gonna go out there and lose. I think you can go out there. And count on that.
Sam Darnold, four turnovers. Sam Darnold with a victory. He says it was a tale of two halves. Listen to this. I think the first half, you know, was was really solid for us as an offense.
You know, and then the second half, it was just a different story, you know, and I think, you know, we just got to hold on to the football. We got we can't turn the ball over like that. Um I can't turn the ball over like that. Um but again our defense and our special team stepping up tonight was huge. Yeah, fool's gold people.
Seattle Seahawks are currently five and two. Uh don't don't buy into any of that, okay? Sam Darnold is going to stink the joint up when it matters the most. When you have to compete in the division with the Los Angeles Rams, you got to compete in a division with the 49ers. They've been dealing with their own injuries.
I'm not trusting Seattle to do a damn thing. Dang. at all. Tomiko Rhines, he knows his team ain't doing nothing. This team, his squad, Houston Texans, they fall to two and four.
And D'Amico says, you know what? There's three phases. It's a football. Defense, offense, special teams. He said we sucked in all three.
Today wasn't it wasn't a good day up for our entire team. It's not just one side. All three phases did not do a great job today. We didn't play winning football, so we can't expect to come out with the win when you don't do the things that winning teams do. Yeah, this is going to be a little bit of a reset year for the Houston Texans.
They're going to have to get that offensive line together. That is not going to be something that takes place this season. Hopefully, for C.J. Stroud, he is not running for his life.
Next up for the Houston Texans. They got to take on the San Francisco Forty Niners. And by the way, it doesn't matter if Mac Jones is out there. whether or not Brock Purdy is going to be able to get back out there despite his turf toe. The San Francisco 49ers will probably handle the Houston Texans.
I do not like this Texans team. Just way too many injuries dating back to last year, and they have certainly gone out there and stripped away some of their key pieces. Got a guy like Laramie Tunsel gone. It's just very different here with Houston. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. You know, this is a good opportunity to tell you about the defensive player of the week brought to you by the Navy Federal Credit Union. Our members are the mission. And that player, it's Ernest Jones from the Seahawks.
Okay, last night, he intercepted C.J. Stroud. He also had 11 tackles, including one of those tackles for loss. He was a big reason as to why the Seattle Seahawks still won despite turning the damn ball over. For time.
Shout outs to Ernest Jones the Fourth. Who's the defensive player of the week? Speaking of defense, congratulations, Eagles. Maybe you got back a a pass rusher Brandon Graham officially back with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now that was a short-lived retirement. The guy just missed. What, seven games, seven weeks? Welcome back. He spoke today, put his own little message out, had something to share with everybody.
Why the hell are you coming back? Granted. I really didn't wanna retire in the beginning. It was kind of you know, it was kinda tough, but It was like, hey. Billy, right now.
They got everything they need.
So it's like, all right, well, I ain't won't see myself on no other team.
So it was kind of like. I think this is the best way to do it: just go out on top when we get close to the season. Man, you know, I know how he wanted to vet. And He reached out. To my agent, and at the start of the season.
At the start of the season, I was like, hey, I know, you know, back when, way back when, what we said is more like, hey, No, let's get it. Like, you know, we need them. I'm just like, man, at the time, I was like, Nah, I ain't ready for that right now, so. But he he uh ended up signing Zadarius. And we saw Zedarius basically just retired, which now opened up the door for Brandon Graham to return.
So yeah, he said he never really wanted to go. He didn't want to go play for another team. And and now he's back. And we saw him last year. Go out there and tear his triceps at the end of the season.
I came back, was good enough to play in the Super Bowl, tore his triceps again, and hopefully, Father Tom has not caught up with him. They could certainly use him. Zedarius is now retired. Josh Schweat, who was a key uh defender last year and getting to the quarterback, he's now wasting his time with the Arizona Cardinals. He's still making money, so God bless him.
Uh things are are very, very Different. The Eagles, God bless them, not on a three-game losing streak. A.J. Brown got the ball, had a touchdown, and a big day. Hopefully, he's feeling better after they beat the Vikings.
Let's see what Brandon Graham could add to the Eagles. I think the Eagles will still be there. At the end of the season, I mean, they got Super Bowl potential again. They don't have the same type of depth. But I still think they can go out there and And win the Super Bowl.
