The delicacy there. So I was staring at the foot. You're sitting down for lunch and they bring out a bowl with a chicken foot in it.

When you go to other countries, you don't want to insult traditions. I cannot eat a chicken foot. I'm sorry. However, I did eat the rest of the soup and then offered the chicken foot to someone who was sitting next to me who was excited to eat it.

This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. It's the answer to the question of what's the strangest thing you've ever seen in your food. Oh yeah. Chicken foot. It's the chicken foot. No chicken, just the foot. That's the jarring part is it still looks like a claw, right? We're not talking about a, I don't know, a little teeny replica or like a baby. I don't know, a mini chicken foot, like something you might hang on your key chain, like a rabbit foot. No, this is an actual big old chicken foot right in your soup. It's nothing to do with sports, but someone asked me the question.

People actually have asked me this more than once. What's the strangest thing you've ever seen in your food? Maybe I'll start answering with the story about the staple. I once found a staple in my food at a restaurant.

See, Ryan gives me the look. What? Exactly. See, now if I would tell that story instead of the chicken foot, maybe it wouldn't turn into a piece of production.

Well, because staples dangerous. Chicken foot's just funny. But the funny part is that there's no chicken. It's just the foot. It's a little jarring just to see the foot. And you had the rest of the soup. I did. And I ate the rest of the soup, even though it was, it was surrounding the foot and who knows where that foot had been.

It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence. Good morning. Happy Monday. Uh huh.

It can be happy. We can do this. It's June, by the way.

It's June 10th. And here we are two games into the NBA finals. And I'm wondering, will they go the distance? I suppose it's easy right now to jump on and say, nah, they're going to be over in four, maybe over in five.

The Dallas Mavericks can get a better performance from Kyrie Irving or someone else who's going to step up to, to be the running mate to Lucas, so to speak. But I know Jill Missoula has been very careful to remind the Celtics. They were up one nothing against Golden State two years ago, and then they led that series two one. So let's not get cocky.

Oh, that's a great line from Star Wars. Let's not get cocky. Uh, so the, the Celtics played the gritty defense in game two. They started out 0 for 11 from beyond the arc. We also know their philosophy is you keep shooting.

You just keep shooting. The three is a big part of what they do, whether they're dropping, they're not, or they're not. They're confident enough to know that the other parts of their game also make a difference. And last night, it was the defense.

Jalen Brown going one on one with Kyrie at times, Derek White playing him straight up as well, poke steals and turnovers, or I guess in the Celtics case, forcing turnovers. Even though Luca came out like a house on fire, despite having been wrapped and been listed as doubtful around his midsection, sounds like bruised ribs, maybe even broken, don't know about it. You got to be careful obviously when it's a potential broke ribs because of a lung issue, a collapsed lung or a punctured lung. Uh, and so they're there to be careful with him. But once he decided he was going to play and maybe he knew all along, uh, they decided to do that for betting purposes, but he was out there. He was definitely not the same guy though. He didn't have the same spring.

He didn't have the same mobility. It looked like now maybe he was also hyped up on or pumped full of, I should say hyped up on, makes it sound like a different kind of a drug. These were not recreational drugs. These oftentimes are drugs to help them move and get through games. It's a part of what athletes go through.

It's up every now and then some of them will tell you. So maybe he wasn't feeling a ton of pain by the time he got out there. However, he didn't look like he was as mobile or even just the the way that he shot almost looked uncomfortable.

And so he was terrific, but for the most part, but they didn't have to worry about anybody else. Uh, Kyrie Irving still has not found his groove. Now he had a couple of impressive off-balance left-handed drive to the hoop. Uh, but he also missed a couple of layups and he's not hit from the outside. I think he was over from three, uh, last night.

And so right now he's struggling from anything deep. They're not getting the same contributions from him offensively that we need or that they, I didn't, I have no idea where the we came from. That was not, don't, sorry. That was awful. I did not mean we, I just meant that they need, uh, ew. Even coming out of my mouth, I didn't like it. Never ever referred to teams as we or us.

I am not part of it. Sorry. Can we strike that from the record? Can we start over? There goes the perfect show.

Any, yeah, right. Anyway, Ryan's laughing at me on the other side of the double pane glass. Uh, producer Jay is out this show. And so Ryan is hanging out with us. So the, the Mavericks need more because they can't combat the depth of the Celtics top six, even when they go over 11 to start from beyond the arc. Uh, and what they got, as I say, was the ability to defend Kyrie one-on-one in, in a bunch of cases. And then with Luca, what they would like to do again is not have to put two guys on him.

So you're leaving another guy open. Now Luca's still a load. He's still a big dude.

You maybe don't realize how big he is until you see him in person. Uh, we're not talking about a skinny wing player here. We're talking about a guy who, uh, can, can handle some weight too, but at the same time, defensively, neither one of those guys is going to be a stopper on the other end. And so the Celtics kind of have you in both cases.

And then Luca just didn't look the same. So this was a game in which the Celtics didn't love how they played offensively, but they were able to not only rally from being down initially, didn't grab the lead until midway through the second quarter, uh, but also once they found their rhythm, uh, they could use what I think is an advantage on both ends of the court to be able to keep that lead, uh, the rest of the way. And yeah, there were some significant moments on both ends of the court that have got to be demoralizing for the Mavericks because as close as they would get, uh, they just didn't have the answer for a Derek White. You think you've got one guy locked down and Derek White hits the three. You got another guy locked down and Jalen Brown is, is driving to the hoop. You think you got another guy locked down and, oh, we don't have to worry about Jason Tatum because he's not shooting the way he normally does. And, oh, Jason ends up with another pretty assist.

So it's, it's an overwhelming, an overwhelming team for a lot of other opponents in the NBA, just because they have so many options. And that's what you've got the Mavericks running into right now is there are just so many different ways the Celtics can beat them. Tatum, left-hand dribble, Luca Guardian, Tatum dribbles between his legs, attacks the paint, hangs in the air, ball knocked away from him by Jones. Atlas can make it a one possession game, bounce pass lead, but blocked from behind Jalen Brown on Washington.

Celtics get it back. Jalen makes the saving play. So Derek White, Jalen Brown, they combine for this really dramatic moment late in the game where it would have been a solo possession then down to just the three points.

And you hear Shawn Grandy there on Celtics radio. This was, this is one that you will see whether you check out social or YouTube or you're watching TV, you're going to see this block. I know that Grandy said it was Jalen.

TV called it Derek White. It was both. They were both in on it. It was actually perfectly timed by both of them.

And that happened multiple times. You had the Celtics not giving up on a play, even when it seemed like there was a breakaway by the Mavericks. And so that was a big moment late in the game because the Mavericks do still have Luca, right? And so they're going to make a charge. They'll get a big shot from PJ Washington.

He's actually great in transition. They'll get a three from someone else. They just don't have enough. And that's kind of what stuck with me from last night's game, but really the first two without Kyrie Irving hating on all cylinders and really being in that offensive rhythm, they have far less of a chance to be able to, to beat the Celtics because they need a Kyrie and a Luca who are both compensating for what they're missing on the other end of the court.

It's after hours with Amy Lawrence. Now you may have heard, I, you know, maybe I'm just weird. I don't think it's a huge snub that Kaitlyn Clark didn't get on the US women's basketball Olympic team. I wish she was, but I don't think that it's the biggest snub in the history of the Olympics. And I really don't know that I can get on board with Jason Kidd attempting to stir up some kind of drama or drive a wedge between Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum. There is no way, there is no way after everything those two guys have been through that one relatively innocuous comment from Jason Kidd is going to somehow put the two of them at odds. And I know there've been rumors. There's been speculation about whether these two stars get along. Honestly, here's the deal. It doesn't matter if they get along.

It doesn't matter. They could never see each other outside of work and they could never hang out and they could not text and they could barely speak for heaven's sakes outside of the arena. But if they're playing together like teammates, then that stuff doesn't matter. I mean, for any of you who played sports or gosh, if you've watched sports long enough, you know, there are plenty of situations where guys just don't get along. You're talking about a bunch of alpha males and or alpha females, either one on a team, you're going to have personality conflicts. So even though I don't really believe that the two of them don't like each other, it doesn't seem to be a whole lot of evidence.

It's more just kind of stories that take liberties with what is seen or what is heard. I don't believe that they actually don't get along or dislike each other. Can there be a healthy competition among teammates?

Absolutely. But anyway, there's been that kind of rumor and speculation for a couple of seasons now because that's what losing does, right? It shines a spotlight and people are trying to come up with reasons why they're losing. And so I know that maybe it would play into the narrative a little bit or at least the, as I say, the speculation about the Jays. But there is no way that either one of them was going to react to Jason Kidd in a way that it was going to put the finals in jeopardy.

They have been through too much together and they've come too close in the past only to be denied for that to actually work. So I don't know, Ryan, do you think Jason Kidd was attempting to, I don't know, to throw Jason Tatum off his game by calling Jalen Brown the best player on the Celtics? I think he's just ranting. Every time I listen to Jason Kidd, he's just kind of going on and on. Off the cuff?

Off the cuff. Just talking about random things that his answers just worded out so that it doesn't mean anything. The only thing that I could really get on board with is that he would like, because of what he said, to have a bunch of the media, which is what happened, start asking everybody in the Celtics locker room. Jason, Jalen, Derek, all, everybody.

Well, what do you think? Who's the best player on the Celtics? Joe Mazzulla. You could kind of hear the bite in Joe Mazzulla's answer after the game because he was again asked about it. And so maybe it's annoying to them that they have to answer the question, but in terms of being able to drive a wedge or get them off their game, that's a feeble attempt if that's what Jason Kidd was doing. Oh, he's known for making attempts to cheat the game. It's true.

I'll never forget when he spilled a glass of water for a timeout. I don't think this would work. That was my point. And all I think it really does is just kind of, it's a little bit like a mosquito that's buzzing around, especially when you're trying to sleep. You ever been trying to sleep and you know there's a mosquito in your room? And in my case, I cannot sleep until that damn mosquito is gone. So I have to get up, turn on the lights, figure out where the mosquito is, whatever.

And that's to me what this feels like. It's just a stupid mosquito or a gnat that's flying around your head and it's annoying, but it's not going to keep you from doing your job. And the Celtics are wearing a metaphorical bug suit.

They're not affected by this at all. Bug suit? I'm not sure. What do you call it? Like a bug spray? A bug suit? A bug suit. Are you suggesting that bees are bugs? Insects, bugs, close. Beekeeper I get because you don't want to get stung.

Sure, that makes sense. I would think more like bug spray. They're covered in bug spray. So they're essentially, it makes them invisible to bugs, right?

Because it's supposed to mask the smell of the humans enough that they don't know you're there. Yeah, that they're not affected by the bugs. They're not paying attention to them. Right, they're just swatting them away or not even bothering. Not even bothering. Not even bothering.

All right, so the bugs are smashed on the windshield. They don't really care. Although as I say, Joe Mazzulla can get a little about it and I just think it's the time of the year. Nobody's sleeping.

They're so close to winning a title. He's clearly not interested in talking about who's the best player on the team. I'm really tired of hearing about one guy or this guy or that guy and everybody trying to make it out to be anything other than Celtic basketball and everybody that stepped on that court tonight made winning plays on both ends of the floor. That's the most important thing and then to answer your question, Jason makes greatness look easy. He does it in a lot of different ways. He does it in defense. He does it on rebounding. He does it on passing.

He does it on screening. He's a tremendous player and hard to coach him and he has the ability to affect the game in different ways. We're a different team but it takes everybody to do it.

It has a lot to do with that. You know, I've been here before and we didn't win and it's just like, you know, we're so close to what we're trying to accomplish. Why would I let my ego or my need to score all the points get in the way of that? So he nearly had a triple double last night though again he didn't shoot extremely well especially early but nobody did from deep. He missed shots that you would normally expect that Jason Tatum would hit but he finished up with 18 points and 12 assists which is one shy of his career high in any game in his career and nine rebounds too and so instead of having, I mean Jalen, he was, actually the whole starting lineup was double figures and for Jalen, the way that he played used so much energy on the defensive end of the court, not just the block shots but also the poke steals and really getting a lot of the one-on-one assignments with either Luca or Kyrie specifically because if they can play those guys with one and straight up then it certainly helps the rest of the defense but that leaves opportunities for Drew Holliday and he actually says hey look at what these guys are doing because that's how I'm cleaning up when it comes to the points.

I don't think I'm shredding the defense. I think it's more so JT and JB especially tonight, JT was getting into the pain and being double-teamed and making the right plays out of it and just finding me, you know, just either being in the dunker or being in the corner. He has that vision as a playmaker so I would give that to them. He ends up 11 of 14 from the floor and man has he had some great offensive games so far in these playoffs and it does stand to reason this is not rocket science. When the opponents are focused more on Jason and Jalen because those are the two best players or two best scorers then of course that means there are more opportunities for other guys like Drew Holliday. Remember he's had some big-time games at career playoff high I think earlier in this postseason. 26 points for him, three assists to go along with 11 rebounds. Tenacious D, he's the one that said after the opener even our white guys guard that was his assessment of the defense.

Speaking of white guys, Kristaps Porzingis came off the bench again so Al Horford started, KP came off the bench. He provides that jolt of energy and while his line wasn't quite as spiffy as it was in the opener still a lot of impact with him. He finishes with 12 points, four rebounds and a couple of blocks but it was noted that late in the game seemed like he either landed awkwardly on his calf or maybe re-tweaked the soleus. Never in my life used the word soleus before 2024 but now that it's out there and I'm yeah I just it's everywhere I'm just gonna keep saying it. It's a calf.

It seems like he may have tweaked the calf and so he was asked about it after the fact. I'm feeling good, feeling good. Yeah I don't think it's anything serious but we'll look at it tomorrow and go from there but all good.

I'll be good. Mavericks are in an 0-2 hole. They've been great on the road but they don't win either of the games in Boston. You can obviously expect there'll be a raucous crowd in Dallas. Can they force this series back to Boston? No tall order of course but a couple days off I mean this is how the NBA Finals go. They take so much time off in between games that if it's not a serious injury for Luca you would think that he could continue to go through the 24-7 treatment and that maybe feels better or maybe it's drugs by the time they get to game number three and what about Kyrie?

Well Kyrie's still hearing the boos every single time he touches the ball. I suppose the whole logo thing you know if you wanted to let it all die down probably the logo thing was the wrong move. You think it was an accident Ryan? Maybe it was just a it was an innocent mistake. He just forgot where he was on the court.

No. He didn't realize it. Like what's this green thing beneath my feet?

What's this little leprechaun guy? Yeah you gotta wipe it off too. Wait a minute I had my eyes closed I didn't realize I was here.

Something's on my shoe I gotta get it off. So no chance that it was just this is just where I am on the court. No it was 100 intentional. So was the honestly I thought it'd be louder in here after game number one. So as much as he wants to act like it's no big thing I don't believe it for a second and the fans don't either obviously because every single time he touches the ball he's getting booed. Maybe he feels like it'll motivate him a little more. Every time he plays in Boston in the last two or three years he's like yeah it doesn't bother me but then he proceeds to do more things that show you're insecure. But I thought though because he seems like he's happy in Dallas that it would finally be a thing of the past. Oh no I think this thing in Dallas being happy is is a lie. I think it's a facade.

It's a mask because he's still he's still trying to mess with the Celtics fans just you wouldn't do anything like that if you're actually over it. That's true unless it's his attempt to try to incite the fans right like he doesn't really mean it he's just screwing around with the fans. But that means you still care. That's true.

If you're actually focused. That's right. When you reply to someone on social media or in a text chain you say I don't care the evidence is there. Of course you cared enough to pick up the phone and respond.

So yes you care enough that you want to make sure your voice is heard. So yeah again like I said I thought it was I thought it was on intentional I should say that he mentioned that he thought the crowd would be louder after game one. Just as a side note too and maybe we'll have to find this to share this on our own social. Did you see the video this weekend of the bowl jumping into the stands at a rodeo in Oregon? No that was off topic I was not ready for that.

No I wasn't either well I mean I wasn't planning on including with the Celtics but I just saw it on tv again I'm like because I meant to bring it up earlier and then I just didn't you know just kind of we were busy but yeah we need to share that. No it's so dramatic it's almost more dramatic than when a bull gores someone at Pamplona. Like the bull leaps over the fence and into the crowd. You'll see it we'll share it. Good morning to you it's after hours with Amy Lawrence.

You are listening to the after hours podcast. Tatum into the corner Derek White he's looking for the five-point lead right now and he's got it. Let's do that ball behind him.

Not a good pass but good shot. Five foot points for the Celtics to break the tie 62-57. Luca hounded by Derek White loses the ball steps away from him by Pritchett. Four on one Pritchett for Tatum drop for the trailer Jaylen Brown flies in for the two-hand slam. Luca's seventh turnover is a big one 85-76 Boston by 9. Washington missed the dunk but the rebound comes all the way out to Holliday he throws out to an open Derek White for three. The small things we we don't you know we have to do the small things and that's part of the game you know those are points that we left on the board and we didn't shoot Frito as well tonight and we have to be better.

This is after hours with Amy Lawrence. Jason Kidd's little ploy did not work seems as though Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum and Drew Holliday and the others are just fine. Maybe their hope is that Kristaps Porzingis is not completely healthy after missing the five weeks with the calf injury and maybe tweaking it again last night we'll find out but that's the deal with so much time off in between games is they don't have to tell us squat right now.

Good morning to you it's after hours with Amy Lawrence. So Jason was also asked about Kyrie's play last night 16 points so he has fewer points than he has field goal attempts seven of 18 from the floor he goes over from downtown he does have a half dozen assists and he can still get loose and get to the hoop and create some type of a dramatic circus shot but they need a lot more from him. He had great looks he just didn't go down that's just the game that's just the game of basketball sometimes if you make them sometimes you don't you continue to keep playing he has some good looks that just didn't go down for him tonight. I give them credit they kept competing we kept competing we just got to stay together in some of the tough times throughout the game where it you know could be a four-point lead on them or a four-point lead that we have we just got to keep competing and I think we'll be in a better place but feel good. So Kyrie maybe is gonna have to pull out the sage again and start warding off evil spirits except they're going to Dallas next so at least he'll be in his own friendly confines yeah they're gonna need more from him they have to have more from him because without it they can't generally combat what the Celtics do and it's kind of telltale that if the Celtics go over 11 to start the game they don't make a three they do not have a Jason Tatum who's in rhythm in the first half and they don't have a lead until midway through the second quarter but they're still able to for a good portion of the second half lead by double figures not the whole time but get that lead above double figures and then to be able to hold off the Mavericks Dallas has got to find a different gear and they need it to come from their stars this is why Kyrie has paid what he's paid this is what he always talks about I've got the experience I'm a veteran now I know how to use my skills for the greater good to help us win yes I'm paraphrasing what they need is more from him because if Luca's hurt even if Luca's not hurt he still cannot win another four games for the Dallas Mavericks all by himself against a lot of teams maybe not against Boston and you know he's taking responsibility too for his mistakes last night obviously didn't work because we lost but you know at the end of the day we got to make some more shots you know I think my turnovers and my miss fritter's cause is a game so I gotta do way better in those two categories but at the end of the day we got to make shots to win them to win the game so he did have a triple double and a lot was made of how Luca scores following a loss that was a major theme on the broadcast to start and he scored he had what 23 I think in the first half so he had plenty of points he finished with 32 but the the two things that were glaring as he pointed out with the turnovers for sure and that's kind of where I could I could see the mobility being an issue not being able to protect as much but also he missed four free throws and I don't know if the pain or the lack of mobility had something to do with that what was happening in his his his midsection so we shall see but game three is eight weeks from now no Wednesday it feels like forever I don't understand but if guys are banged up I guess it gives them a chance to to get healthy tonight is game two of the Stanley Cup final if you missed it we talked about it last hour here on the show and even though it wasn't the formula and the I well was the identity that the panthers want they just weren't able to limit the shots as much for Edmonton but man Sergei Bobrovsky he was doing pretty much every challenge well every shot that came his way and he saw a barrage in the first period three different penalty kills for the panthers and also a couple of breakaways and was still able to pitch the shutout if you will all right Caitlin Clark spoke about being left off the Olympic team that was before practice for the fever on Sunday I know some of you probably haven't heard it we've got it we'll let you hear it I did also tweet a couple of her quotes because I feel like if nothing else it's another chance for us to see the maturity and to recognize how gracious she is in a white hot spotlight where every single thing that happens now is less about basketball and more about some type of a controversy but Mike is in South Carolina and wants to weigh in Mike I'll give you a couple minutes here before we take our break how you doing Amy uh long time no speak I'm originally from Long Island I spoke to you a few times um you know I know you played college softball basketball I played college basketball I'm sorry I'm sorry college basketball my bad okay I was a college baseball player I had uh pitchers wanted to throw my head spikes high at my knees shortstop second base turn it a double play okay now with Caitlin Clark okay that that girl who pulled that stunt anytime you play sports and somebody pulls a uh uh a stunt like that you know what that was Amy that was thuggery on the hardwood that's what it was that's what it was but it wasn't an isolated incident though it happens a lot in hoops I mean there are people taking cheap shots yeah that's true but you know what there's got to be fines or something because if that continues she elevated the WNBA okay Caitlin she elevated it okay I mean she the it was Kennedy Carter she ended up with a flagrant one uh so that goes on your record I mean Caitlin's had technical fouls as well it's not like she hasn't lost her temper either yeah I understand but you know that's that's out of control that's out of control there's got to be fines okay what I mean so what keep doing what you're doing I got you on my dial down here so I'll be uh I'll be chatting with you okay I appreciate it Mike thank you I thought he had called to talk about the Olympic team but I guess he changed his mind midstream okay uh yeah so Caitlin spoke about it so did her coach you'll hear from them once again I would love to see her on the team just because she's entertaining and also they got she could benefit from playing with those professionals that right now are trying to beat her right that are trying to welcome her to the NBA if you will uh WNBA so I think it could benefit her to play with some of the best in the entire world and even if all she's doing is practicing and she's not actually playing she would have been the youngest on the squad there's no one younger than 26 she's 22 it's a bit of a change because they've always had a couple of young players on the team in the past uh but Sabrina UNESCO she is making the team for the first time there are a couple of newbies that have never been on the team and then the I you know the idea of who do you leave off you know a lot of talented players that did not make this Olympic team I keep hearing this whole hot take about how nobody's going to watch if Caitlin's not on the team even if that's completely accurate is that the job of the US Olympic committee is that the job of selection committee is to pick the players that they think are most popular or to pick the players that they think have the best chance at winning gold and on this team the number one factor is experience it's clear most of these women have won before except for the couple that are rookies either on the three on three or the five on five level and Caitlin has played in the USA system just not on the senior Olympic team I love her response and I think that's what people should focus on as opposed to the hot takes and how this is a huge snub and oh the outrage I it's not an easy decision I don't think it's easy I know Jen Rosati who's one of the people in charge of the selection process she is a little bit like Bill Belichick in the respect that she will do whatever it takes to put together what she thinks is a winning team if that means benching people if that means cutting people if that means making decisions that aren't popular she's one who will do it she she played under Geno Auriemma she she got it honestly right she's coached under Geno Auriemma and USA teams so I don't think that they considered how many people would not watch if Caitlyn wasn't on the team I hate to break it to you anyway you'll hear from her she was very gracious and also this is a thing it's a real thing there are people in Oregon that are injured after this bowl got loose leaped over a fence from the arena or from the the rodeo arena into the stands and then got out behind the the grandstands and was running around looking for people to injure before his handlers caught up with him if you haven't seen the video it's all over I think we can retweet it from our texted me to let me know and you know I just try to keep her spirits I mean the thing she said was hey coach they woke a monster which I thought was awesome this is after hours this is after hours with Amy Lawrence it's definitely going viral it's gonna be a thing partly because Kaitlyn Clark said it and partly because it's tremendous and I love the fact that it's the word woke in completely different context than what we normally hear it in pop culture these days they woke a monster coach also am I the only one that thought it was funny that she texted her coach from the same bus they're on the bus well let's not bother the coach and get up and go up there let's just text her from your seat it would be even greater if it was four seats apart right she's a rookie so wonder if she has to sit at the front of the bus whatever the case when you guys were in school when you played on a team that the veterans slash seniors slash whatever got to sit at the back of the bus the big yeah the big timers the the best scorers whoever the the best players but usually it was the older players and captains who got to pick their seats on the bus first and a lot of times they were in the back so if she's a rookie and she's three seats behind the coaching staff that's even better she probably could have said hey coach I just got the call although maybe she didn't want to announce it to the whole bus it's after hours with Amy Lawrence kaitlyn said they woke a monster to her coach her coach shared that from kaitlyn what kaitlyn said similar though not quite the same words she was interviewed at fever practice on sunday and instantly of course she was asked about not making the olympic team and her reaction and whether or not she's disappointed honestly no disappointment like i think it just gives you something something to work for um you know it's a dream you know hopefully one day i can be there and i think it's just a little more motivation i mean we remember that and um you know hopefully in four years when four years comes back around you know i can be there i'm excited for the girls that are on the team um i know it's the most competitive team in the world and i know i could have gone either way of me being on the team and not being on the team so um you know i'm excited for them i'm gonna be riding them on to win gold um i was a kid that grew up watching the olympics so yeah it'll be fun to watch them in case you couldn't hear her because of the background the basketballs there at practice she was part of a group interview this was her response to the question about disappointment quote honestly no disappointment i put this up on twitter too if you want to see it it just gives you something to work for it's a dream hopefully one day i can be there i think it's just a little more motivation and she also says she'll be rooting for the team to win gold they woke a monster that's terrific what more could you ask for i know she's not perfect and she's gotten technical fouls and yes a big tongue in cheek there's no such thing as perfect but she's gotten technical fouls she's been tired she's had some really poor shooting games uh though finally on saturday had a game where she she looked more like she was the iowa rhythm it's been a long haul for her and all the rookies in the wnba because they went well the ones who played deep into the tournament like she did the ones from south carolina lsu uh uconn obviously and then iowa they played until the very last weekend they had a few days off before the draft but for katelyn it's non-stop interviews it's this non-stop circuit of media attention and responsibilities no doubt for her corporate partners it's funny somebody said to me earlier katelyn should get should demand that the wnba fix this mess or threaten to go to europe to make a bunch of money she's making millions she doesn't have to go anywhere to make money she doesn't even need the wnba to pay her for heaven's sake she's making millions of dollars in endorsements she was probably shooting commercials and working with creative teams to make sure that she was ready for these different ad campaigns i mean you see her everywhere now on various commercials and billboards and all kind of stuff so there was that then she gets drafted then she's got another media tour the awards circuit then she goes right into practicing with the fever and within what was it a couple of weeks they were already playing their preseason schedule within a month of being drafted she's already playing in a regular season game so someone asked her what about the three-week break that the league will take during the olympics honestly she sounded relieved like as much as she would have enjoyed being on the team and and maybe if someone gets injured and can't go or if they select her as an alternate she still goes to paris i kind of feel like she was expressing some relief at finally having a break whenever the olympics take place which is late july they'll have to break the league right because so many players are gone for training camp and then the travel and then paris it might be good for her no doubt she's tired i mean she's fighting through i know she's 22 but it's a lot on her plate i admire the way that she's handled everything that's thrown at her but i gotta be honest some of the headlines slash hot takes that are generated around kaitlyn over the last couple weeks i'm a little embarrassed at media colleagues for some of the crap that is being thrown out there i get it it's kaitlyn clark right now she is clickbait all by herself but some of this stuff is you really have to suspend belief or at the very least not be paying any attention or maybe it is the first time you've ever watched the wnpa i suppose there's that ryan smiles because he knows that's the case there are a lot of people who are watching for the first time ever but from that come the hot takes it's after hours with amy lawrence i did post the photos on facebook by the way if you want to see them it took me a minute but i used the work laptop downloaded a couple of photos don't tell anyone and now they're up on facebook uh so you can check out the i was talking about the photos at ground zero in lower manhattan um that's where i saw a lot of otani jerseys by the way over the weekend there were dodgers fans everywhere or maybe it was just baseball fans or maybe it was just otani fans i don't know i mean he's a little bit like kaitlyn clark attracts that kind of interest to the league something else in basketball we'll have this to talk about in the next 24 hours no doubt if dan hurley sticks to his word he says he will be making his decision about the lakers versus uconn and which coaching job he'll have next year today he says he's making the decision today he doesn't want to keep the lakers waiting it's not fair to keep uconn waiting they've obviously made a massive offer he said they've painted a compelling picture a compelling vision uh he told adrian wojnarowski that he's still torn he hasn't decided what he wants to do but he does plan to make a decision today so we'll be able to talk about that later on tonight as well as game two of the stanley cup final now uh this is just as a quick side note because i i feel like this is we talk about kaitlyn clark's world being crazy and just all the stuff that he said that she's had to deal with but how about scotty scheffler everything from the arrest the charges getting dropped to continuing to golf to becoming a brand new dad and here he is yet again winning at the memorial despite all the stress everything that he's been handling he actually didn't even golf over par on sunday and yet he still ends up as the winner of this memorial tournament and got to uh hang out with jack nicholas yeah it's very special um yeah i think i you know mr nicholas did a lot of great things for the game of golf but you know the effect he had on his community and in our country as well is is very special and so i've looked up to him for a long time um you know he was always a family first guy and i tried to uh to my family first as much as possible just the way he did and um you know you can kind of see it you know i think he's been married i think he said 64 years now um and so you know lord willing marathon i'll make it that long but um yeah it's it's special to be here and it's a you know even more special to be the winner yeah so the memorial is jack's tournament he had his his baby son there um newborn right and his his wife too and this is his fifth pga win this season uh i kind of feel like he's in a bit of a mode where he's almost like tiger woods unstoppable i'm not saying his career will be the same don't mistake me just that this was the kind of groove that tiger was in going back to say oh 708 that area before he got injured in uh towards acl and had to take the break uh so yeah scotty scheffler right now is um as close to a sure thing as there ever can be in sports and then as we wrap up seriously check out the video of the bull uh ryan and i are blown away i saw the video from inside the arena he saw the one from outside the arena i didn't realize there were two this bull insists at sisters rodeo in oregon leaps over the fence he clears the fence to get from the arena into the stands then he somehow gets through the people and the grandstand out into the concourse behind the grandstands and was going after people until they could finally get to him a couple people injured crazy video talk to you
