The Mason-Dixon line, a division between the North and South during the American Civil War, has a complex and fascinating history that spans decades and generations. It began with a mapping mistake by Captain John Smith in 1613, which led to a series of border disputes and conflicts between the colonies of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The line was eventually surveyed by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon in 1763, using a method that was the most accurate way to survey a long distance borderline at the time. The story of the Mason-Dixon line is a tale of palace intrigue, war, and the struggles of the early American colonies. [... more]

Prayer should be prominent, prompted by reading and studying the Bible, and passionate, with a focus on relational communication with God. Daniel's prayer life was motivated by his understanding of God's promises and will, as revealed in the Bible. He believed in a literal interpretation of Bible prophecy and saw the fulfillment of prophecy as a motivation for prayer. Prayer is not just about asking for things, but about aligning one's will with God's will and cooperating with Him in His purpose. [... more]

The Bible teaches that heaven is a place where we can be with God, and the only way to get there is through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the exclusive path to God, and he alone lived a sinless life, died a vicarious death, and rose from the dead. The warnings of Christ are serious, and the alternative to heaven is a place of outer darkness, but the welcome of Christ is rich and wonderful. Jesus longs to be with us, and we long to be with him, to see his smile, to hear his voice, and to worship his glory. [... more]

The Bible teaches that when we die, our souls go to one of two places: paradise, a temporary heaven for the righteous dead, or Hades, an intermediate hell for the unrighteous dead. Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus illustrates this concept, showing that the rich man ended up in Hades, tormented by his memories of rejecting God, while Lazarus was comforted in paradise. The Bible also teaches that at the judgment of the great white throne, Hades will be emptied and its inhabitants sent into the lake of fire, eternal hell. Meanwhile, believers who die go to paradise, which has been transferred to heaven by Jesus, where they await the resurrection of their bodies. [... more]
