The Bible teaches that when we die, our souls go to one of two places: paradise, a temporary heaven for the righteous dead, or Hades, an intermediate hell for the unrighteous dead. Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus illustrates this concept, showing that the rich man ended up in Hades, tormented by his memories of rejecting God, while Lazarus was comforted in paradise. The Bible also teaches that at the judgment of the great white throne, Hades will be emptied and its inhabitants sent into the lake of fire, eternal hell. Meanwhile, believers who die go to paradise, which has been transferred to heaven by Jesus, where they await the resurrection of their bodies. [... more]

Jesus confirms that there is a real place called heaven where real people go after they die. He teaches that people get into heaven on one basis only, personal faith in Jesus Christ, and that sincerity or human zeal for God is not enough. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the only way to get to God, and that those who reject Him will not see eternal life. [... more]

The gospel message involves both a positive and negative result of faith in Jesus Christ, gaining heaven and avoiding hell, but many evangelicals deny the literal eternal hell, redefining Scripture and prioritizing relevance over biblical truth, leading to a watered-down gospel message that neglects the wrath of God and the importance of faith in Christ alone. Jesus teaches that heaven is real, but so is hell, and there are no second chances after death to choose to live for Him. The Bible makes it clear that God's mercy becomes irrelevant at the end of our lives, and prayer becomes irrelevant in heaven. The rich man in a parable is concerned about ministry and becomes compassionate for the souls of his brothers, but ultimately, repentance is impossible without hearing Moses and the prophets. The message of God's wrath is often ignored or downplayed in modern Christianity, but it's a crucial aspect of the biblical gospel. Angels have been sent to deliver messages from God, warning of the consequences of rejecting Him and the coming judgment. The wrath of God is a personal and literal reality, not just a metaphorical concept. It's essential to understand and preach the truth about God's anger and the horrors of hell to awaken people to the reality of eternal judgment. [... more]

The New Testament describes heaven as a place where God's presence is with his people, and there is no more suffering, death, or pain. The city of God, the New Jerusalem, comes from heaven and is a perfect cube, with streets of gold and gates of pearls. The city is inhabited by 144,000 people, and there is no need for a temple because God's presence is visible to his people. The city is illuminated by the glory of God and Christ, and there is no night or curse. The ultimate joy of heaven is the beatific vision, the experience of looking directly into the unveiled face of God. [... more]
