Matt is the founder and president of the Christian Apologetics Research Ministry, found online at Carm.org. When you have questions about Bible doctrines, turn to Matt Slick Live for answers, taking your calls and responding to your questions at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick.

Everybody, welcome to the show. It's me, Matt Slick, and you're listening to Matt Slick Live. And as usual, if you want to give me a call, you can. It is easy to do. All you have to do is dial 8772072276, and you can get a hold of you.

We can talk. All right, now. I'm going to be on a discussion forum. Later tonight, discussing the issue of Eastern Orthodoxy. I am so glad that more and more groups and ministries are now tackling the heresy.

uh of Eastern Orthodoxy. And I got a problem with my camera. And let me move this over by my hand. Let me just see if that works. That works.

That's fine. Whew, so anyway. There you go. And I'll put the information on Of the Let's see, I think it's carm better.org forward slash calendar. But I won't be able to do it until after the show when I get the information if you're interested in listening in.

There's going to be a panel of us, several people. And so uh generally when there's a panel And I know some of the guys I know I know the guys on the sh on the panel. A lot of them are rather verbose, which is fine. They give complete, total answers. Me, I'm more quick and slick, just give a basic answer and move on.

But these guys will go on a little bit longer, so you won't see me doing as much talking as I might normally do on a panel. And that's not a complaint. It's just we have different giftings different ways. And so there you go with that.

Now, hey, look, like I said, if you want to give me a call, you can 877-2072276. I've been working on that. And also, I started an article dealing with. the some basic questions uh dealing with Eastern Orthodoxy.

Now the reason talking about this right now is Apparently, there's a resurgence or an increase of people joining Eastern Orthodoxy, and it's bad. Eastern Orthodoxy is not Christian. It's just like Roman Catholicism, except a little bit different. And Catholicism is not Christian either. And when I say that, What I'm I'm focusing on are the issues of salvation.

And um their priesthood and their idolatry that they promote.

So They have ways of trying to make it sound like their positions are biblical and. Oh, they're bleeding. Coherent, but when you really cross-examine them, you find out that they're not. And that's what I do a lot, and others are doing it as well.

So, when you know your Christian theology, you know what the Bible says, you can see through the charlatan logic of Eastern Orthodoxy. Uh and um And stuff.

So, yeah, and I do say, and if you're an EO, you know, you want to call me and debate with me or discuss or disagree, that's fine. No problem. We don't have any problem with that. We just ask that you be polite, that's all. But I believe firmly that Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy both lead to eternal damnation if you were to affirm them.

I I firmly believe that.

So Having said that, there you go. Um I am in the process of finally Developing a new aspect of the car ministry, which I haven't even told too many of our own people about this. I've been praying about it. And um And we're going to see what's going to happen. Um I want to start this week.

I want to start something called Carm Talks. And uh Okay, let's see. And uh okay.

So I want to start it now. I'm trying to set up the first interview for Carm Talks. with a gentleman who, Is a Christian who's been studying UFOs a great deal. And so I just got a note back, he won't be available until next week.

So we'll probably do that next week, and I'm going to set something up maybe this week for. Another topic, but the idea of karm talks is all kinds of topics, and I mean all kinds of topics.

So if you have topics or people that you think would be really interesting. uh UFOs, Nephilim, the occult. Orthodoxy, Eastern Orthodoxy, traditions, whatever it is, a wide open discussion. And what I want to do. is um Is got a fly, got a fly bugging around it enough to drive me crazy.

What I want to do is get all kinds of topics going and interview a person for 45 minutes or so. Half an hour to 45, just depending on how it's going to evolve, and I'll give a synopsis at the end. What would be interesting? People have wanted me to do this for a while.

So I've been praying about it a lot, and as the doors open, it'll continue. And uh there you go with that. And I'm also thinking about doing a Patreon show um as well and uh where you'd support we support um Matt Slick's efforts because um We need How to say this? The ministries they go up and down in funding. And Um I get paid out of the ministry, but it's probably going to be necessary for me to not get paid out of the ministry so that we can continue paying the missionaries.

And I'm trying to develop another source of income to help out. And so I'm thinking about doing that in Patreon. And I haven't opened up the doors on that yet. If that sounds doable to you and you're interested in that, just email me. At um At info at carm.org about this type of subject line, Patreon.

And P-A-T-R-E-O-N. And what I'd be doing would be going in there and just having impromptu, hey, this is what I'm doing. I'm working on this right now. This is how I'm working on this. This is how I research.

This is what's coming on. And, you know, just these impromptu kind of discussions. It'll be short, some will be longer. What I'm doing is throw things out periodically so you can get a behind-the-scenes thing and then do a once-a-month QA where it's just a live meeting where everybody can join in.

So I am trying to develop another source of income so that we can cover what is lost out of the ministry. And over the years, you know, Carm has gone up and down in finances. Different people have supported. But lately, let's just say lately, it's been difficult. And in the past few weeks.

And so I'm just letting you guys know. You can pray about that too. You can pray about that. We appreciate that. And by the way, if you like the radio show and you wanna have it continue, it is easy.

All you have to do. Is go to carm.org forward slash donate. It'll put you right there. It'll forward you. It doesn't forward you, it puts you a link.

You gotta. Go forward. Or you can just go to the Carm website. At the top of the page, it'll have the donate link. You can go in there and set it up.

And I am working on so many things.

So many things. We've got a PayPal connection in there. I got to track down. I got to figure out how to modify stuff in Shopify. Man, everything.

Everything I do outside of theology, everything I do, I have to step back three steps to study for a while so I can take hopefully two forward, study for a while, take two forward before I can get ahead. And it takes a while.

So I'm. Quite busy. Quite busy. So, pray that this guy who's going to turn 70 at the end of the year would be continuing to experience the blessing of God, being able to work. being able to uh to serve him.

So there you go. Like I said, if you want to give me a call, you can 877-207-2276. You can also, if you are so inclined, email me at info at carm.org, info at carm.org, and put the subject line video comment.

Well very good question. And we can get to them And there's uh there's a lot. We have Oh, I'm so glad to know that. The number of emails in there is below fifty.

So to a lot of you, that may sound fifty. That's a lot. Oh man, we have 43 in there, and that is low. In my private email, I have 753. Here.

Oh man, in my Matt Slicka Gmail, I have 2,600. Mad at Carm.org, I have 800, oh no, 662. Man, it just keeps coming. It just keeps coming. But that's the privilege of serving the Lord.

Let's get to Elijah from Pennsylvania. Elijah, welcome. You're on the air. Hey, Matt, I got a question.

So, um, Uh correct me if I'm wrong, but is the Is the Bema seat of Christ and the great white throne judgment? Are they going to. Are are they like two separate judgments that take place at two different uh times? That's a good question, and I've had a little bit of difficulty finding out which because they have similarities and differences. And so I'm oh.

Oh, I've got him.

So I'm not exactly sure how to answer the question. And because you asked that question, what I want to do is put it. at the in the my questions I've got so many questions that I'm going to put it in my list of questions to answer. And uh I want to do a more generalized or I should say more specific uh study. on that.

So uh However, let me just kind of give some information out, okay?

So the Bema seat. Here we can move my information up.

Okay, so the Bemis seat is for. It looks like for believers only, and the great white throne is for unbelievers.

So, that's the basics of what it is, and I can go through and find out some other stuff about it. But they seem to be different, okay? Yeah. Yeah. So My my question is this.

Um I know that some people in the church like to teach like there are two different throne judgments, like you believe. But a thought came to me today when I was thinking about this, and it's Matthew 25: the sheep and the goats. And in those verses, we see. uh the saved and the unsaved being judged by Christ at the same exact time and and and the righteous go on to eternal life and the unsaved go into the lake of fire.

So um It seems like the Bemis seat and the Great White Throne judgment are going to happen at the same time in this chapter.

Well,. It doesn't see the problem hey, I hear what you're saying.

Now, there's something interesting about Matthew 25. It starts off with the parable of the virgins, then the talents, then it gets into the judgment. And The issue here that's interesting is that when the Son of Man comes in his glory, He'll separate the sheep and the goats, and inherit the kingdom prepared, etc. And he goes on. And a lot of times people will ask me about this section of scripture, and they'll say, This is a proof that works are necessary in order to obtain eternal life.

And The reason I'm bringing this up is because is because Jesus is speaking to the Jews. And there's going to be a judgment. We know that. But what he's talking about in eternal life, there's no mention of atonement in this whole section of Scripture. There's no mention of the sacrifice of Christ.

So, it's a really interesting section.

So, what's he doing? It looks like he's giving a general understanding to the Jews, who are covenant people, of what is required of them.

Now, the true manifestation of good works is because of regeneration, etc. We're not going to heaven because of our good works.

So, that's that. And when I say that, it causes me to wonder exactly how he's speaking of the judgment there, since he's giving the generic understanding. Inclusion of things of salvation, but there's no atoning sacrifice. mentioned at all.

So it makes me wonder. Uh how far to take this Uh I don't want to say literally because it's literal.

However to take it in different areas, if that makes sense.

Okay. Yeah. Um Yeah.

So, yeah, so like, I see, you know, you know, how Catholics and Orthodox like to say they think it's about works, but I think, I think, I agree with you. I think it's about regeneration, and because if you're regenerate, you know, the Holy Spirit will. Uh Empower you to have love for people. And what's described in this chapter is, you know, people having love for others and they're doing loving things while the unsaved who are going to hell, they're not showing any love, which is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Yes, that's right.

And there's more to that, but I'm with you.

Okay, buddy? There's a break. We gotta go. All right, buddy? All right.

Appreciate it, man. God bless.

Okay. Hey, folks, we wrap back after these messages. If you want to give me a call. 877-207-2267. Have a search, we'll be right back.

Yeah. It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, and welcome back to the show. If you want to give me a call, it is easy: 877-207-2276.

I want to hear from you. Give me a call. All right, now let's get on with Alberto from George. Alberto, welcome. You're on the air.

Yes, Matt Slick. I got a question. How come when preachers like to quote Bible verse from the Old Testament, they want to apply it to the church age, but then there are certain Bible verses. Like in the New Testament, they say only applied to the certain that time period in it, uh, only it doesn't apply to us in our age. For example, like like Jeremiah 29:11, preachers want to apply that to our to church age, but then when it comes to the signs of the apostles and stuff, they say that only time that happened only for the apostles, not doesn't apply to the church age no longer.

So, I come to pick and choose only.

Well, it depends on the individual and what he's doing and the the the exegetical technique or or that he's using. That would answer why. But it just depends on the topic. There's multiple topics, so it's hard to say generically why all do something like that. I really can't.

But uh But you know, there's there's there's varying reasons, okay? Yeah, ca like what I heard this morning on the radio, Adrian Rogers at the radio station, he's preaching about prayer. And he said that, you know, he said that the Bible verse where it said that God will. When you you pray into God, God will show you all kinds of wonders you know, stuff. you know, and so If we read on verses, You have to read it to who God was talking to in the Old Testament.

And why? And you know, that that particular verse So some p some people just read the verse only and they don't they don't explain to the public. You know, who is God was talking to when he when he when he said that?

So transparent for apply to our age. And that particularly was only for a certain kind of people of the nation of Israel or a certain prophet said it to him. on the old test, man, they wanna explain that to the to the public, they think It applies to our age and our time. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, you're talking about just extra data.

Exegetical procedures.

So, like I said, the key is to find individual. Examples. And then tackle them on that and see, because different. Ministers of the gospel will do different things different ways.

So it's difficult to just nail them all at once.

So why do they do that?

Well, some generically, inconsistency sometimes is one of the reasons poor exegetical methodology is another.

So Uh but then it doesn't mean that everything they're doing is is bad or good. But it's worth looking at, okay?

So it's just, you know, it's a generic thing, okay?

Well, I understand that. I understand you're saying it's like Malachi. He said, God opened up the windows of heaven and poured blessings upon you, like Malachi.

So they're giving the ties.

So think so that that was for to Malachi, but now preachers want to apply apply that to to the age to our age too, correct? A lot of times they do. I'd have to hear which ones they are and see what's going on. It's like the verse you rightfully brought up, Jeremiah 29:11. Know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord plans for welfare, not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.

Well, the context is he's speaking to Israel. And the exiles, and that's not to the church, that's to the exiles. And so we have to be careful, as an example you brought up. To not say, well, that means with all the Christians, not necessarily. Because you can go to first uh Romans, excuse me, Philippians 1:29, to it has been granted not only to believe, but also to suffer.

for his sake.

So People need to, when they take verses, It's easy. to tickle the ears of the people in the congregation. And say, you know, Jeremiah 29:11 says, and this is what his plan is for you: he wants to prosper you. And they'll rip things out of context, misapply them, maybe to tickle the ears of the people. But I would be saying, you know, if I was a preach after him, I'd say, well, not necessarily, folks.

You know, you're appointed even to difficulties.

Well, how do you handle it? This is mature Christianity. not babysitting Christianity, which a lot of preachers agree of, okay. All right. All right.

Thank you. God bless.

Keep it a great work. Thanks a lot, man. Appreciate it. God bless.

All right, let's get to Oscar from New York. Oscar, welcome. You're on the air. Yeah, thank you, thank you. I have a little question here, puzzle.

Some people see how we live in this life. could affect our rewards in heaven.

Now my question is, Oh. My question is, are rewards necessary to live in the new heavens or new earth?

Well, I'm not sure how to answer the question necessary because we understand it different ways. But you see, God is the one who will reward us for the works that we've done here. for his glory in the name of Christ and things like that. And so is it necessary? Not necessarily to get to heaven, but it will be part of what God has granted to us in heaven.

And because of what we hopefully, what we have done for the Lord, for. for his glory. That that's the the general idea.

Okay. There are going to be rewards and losses of rewards in heaven. People don't know that. But that is the case. Oh, but salvation itself is a free gift.

It's free. Absolutely. We're in, we're guaranteed that that plays with God, but the rewards and the loss of rewards deal with what we have done here on earth. And um I'm trying to be nice. I don't want to put people on the, you know, make them nervous or anything like this, but they don't have to understand that the rewards in heaven are not based on their.

Salvation is not based on what they do, but their rewards are based on what they do. And it's necessary for people to understand that because, yeah, we are going to be rewarded for what we do here, or we're going to suffer loss of rewards.

So, when people talk about this issue, I tell them: look, if God's given you a calling, He's given you talents and abilities, don't bury them in the dirt. You use them for the glory of God. And if he's called you to do something and you're rejecting that calling, there's going to be a consequence to it.

So In the ministry, in life, in secular work, God has called all of us to do various things for His glory, whether it be a mechanic or a doctor or nurse or waitress or waiter, it doesn't make a difference. It doesn't make blue collar, you know, white collar. The thing is that what we're to do is do whatever we're to do for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Do it honestly, do it faithfully. And if long as we're doing this ultimately for his glory, rewards, generally speaking, are going to be piled up in heaven for us.

And if you have these a gifting, say you God has granted that you make a lot of money, let's just say. I'm just picking something out of the air here. And you use it only for selfish gain, and yet you claim to be a Christian, Then that would be an inconsistency, and the gifting God has given you. You are using improperly, and therefore there'll be a loss of reward in heaven.

So this kind of a thing.

Okay. Oh, okay, okay.

So a loss of rewards doesn't necessarily mean loss of salvation. It does not mean loss of salvation. Rewards, rewards in heaven. Loss of rewards in heaven. Or increase of rewards in heaven means in heaven.

That means you're saved.

Okay. Right, right, right. Yeah, that makes sense.

Okay, thank you very much.

Okay, all right, you're welcome.

Okay, God bless. All right, we have nobody waiting right now. If you want to give me a call, you can. It's 877-207-2276.

Now, tonight, I don't know if uh Good.

Okay, well, we got a break coming up, and I'll check on a certain something about where I'll be speaking tonight. And if you want to hold on, you can. We'll be back right back after these messages, please. Please stay tuned. We'll be right back.

It's Matt Slick live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. Hey, everybody, welcome to the show. If you want to give me a call, you can. The number is 877-2076.

2276. I just updated during the break. Um The discussion I'll be having tonight. And open discussion panel on Eastern Orthodoxy some red flags.

So it'll be a good discussion. There'll be several experts there, and I'm sure I'll be learning. It's one of the things I like about the panels. I know the guys on the panels, we all study different aspects of something, and then we share, and we're always cross-pollinating, and I'm always learning from them.

So I'll be taking my notes even while I'm on, and then speaking about what I do know. And so, if you're interested in getting that information on the YouTube to watch tonight, just go to carm.org forward slash calendar. And it's right there. There's a link. You can check it out: carmcarm.org forward slash calendar.

Let's get to Chris from North Carolina. Chris, welcome. You're on the air. So Hey, are you able to hear me? Um Hello?

You were talking about gifts and And uh my thing was this It's like I keep searching for this like this gift. hardest purpose in life. And I'm gonna be honest with you, I just feel kinda lost. I mean, how do you know?

Well is there are our And you stop missing it. You mean how do you know what spiritual gift you have? Yeah, because um Because, like, I go through life and I'm trying to find this thing that, you know, like, God has a purpose for everybody. And I'm just trying to figure out what that purpose is or what my gift is.

Well, the purpose you have in your life right away at the top of my head is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. If you're a Christian, You serve him. And if you're married, you raise your family for the glory of the Lord. You work, you work honestly with integrity. This is the will of God for you.

This is a generic thing. And a lot of people just aren't really aware of this. Everything that you do, you're to do for the glory of the Lord. That is A very serious uh calling that we Christians have.

Now, if you want to know about a spiritual gift, or like you know, what Spiritual aspect of gifting, do you have?

Well, we could talk about that as well. But does that answer the question, the first question, though? Yeah, basically, you're just to make it correct, you're basically saying that. It starts with being a follower of God pretty much. Is that why I'm here?

Right. At the end.

Okay. So here, let me just relate this to you. Lately, Uh since my wife has passed away, I've I have a lot more f Uh More free time. I said, chuckling. I've been praying more and more and more about what God's calling is, His direction.

Because I've been doing a great deal for a long time. But I want to make sure I'm in his will. And so Praying and asking, and some, and now, you know, I've been doing this for quite a while now, I haven't had the heavens open up. Haven't had the majestic woo, you know, and it knocks your feet experience. And that's what I expect because God, how He works, is by opening and closing doors.

And He wants us to prayerfully. walk through those doors. prayerfully as we're giving our lives to Him. And we don't need at every step some spiritual awakening, some experience, because we walk by faith. And so we ask God what to do, and we move forward and ask God to close doors and open doors.

And this is the direction that He's having you go.

Now there's one level of spiritual gifting. that applies to us in that whatever work you're doing, whatever family situation you're doing. That you are called to do that with these giftings of integrity, faithfulness, long-suffering. as you're an example to Jesus Christ through them.

Now, in other areas, there's a deeper level of gifting, and like on on do you have the gift of helps, or the gift of administrations, or tongues, or whatever it might be. These are the kinds of things that you won't know until you've experienced walking through those other doors. Because where he guides you. He will provide for you. And sometimes we don't know where he's going to provide because we haven't listened to his guidance.

We're wanting to walk through our own doors, our own directions. We have to learn how to get our hearts right with Him so that the gifting He's embedded in us and therefore calls us to occurs because we're walking in His light, because we're walking with Him. This is why I say you must be prayerfully considering this, asking to walk his path, not him to walk our path. In that path of walking with him, you'll discover more and more what your giftings are. And I would go so far as to say that we have l uh the Christian Church as a whole, people don't know their Christian giftings because they haven't been taught what it means to have them.

They have not experienced the need to exercise them. And they aren't walking in the true light of God's work in particular areas of their lives, and so they're not sure what's going on. And I would say that that's the case, but even then, It takes a while to hear because I've been praying about doing things now for weeks and weeks. Because I want to make sure, is this what you want, Lord? I've not heard yes, I've not heard no, but a slight impression.

In my case, is a positive yes. You know, is this from God or is it from me? I'm going to find out later.

So I'm just saying we move and walk forward towards Christ. We make mistakes in the process. We think we hear him when we don't.

Sometimes, that's okay. Do what you can. Lean on him. Lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he'll direct your paths.

Okay?

Okay. Okay. All right, I appreciate that.

Alright. Yeah. All right, so thank you. All right, brother. God bless.

Okay, I hope that helps.

Okay. All right, hey folks, if you want to give me a call, it's easy 877-20722. seven six Did you guys know that Eastern Orthodoxy defines justification not as something that's forensic, not something that's legal? but is an ongoing Uh process.

So in other words When the Bible says Having therefore been justified by faith, Romans 5:1. or Romans 4.5. To the one who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly. His faith, his credit, is righteousness. See, the Bible tells us.

We are declared righteous by the work of God. And we go to Philippians 3.9. and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.

So we don't have a righteousness of our own, but a righteousness that comes from God. Why? The word righteousness. Because righteousness is spoken of in Hebrews 4, 5. I mean, excuse me, Romans 4:5.

But to the one who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.

So the crediting of righteousness is by faith. And that is from God.

Okay. So if it's by faith, then here's a question. Is it by faith when you have faith? Or is it by faith we do something else? The Bible says in Romans 5:1, having therefore been justified by faith.

And I asked them, If the Bible says in Romans 5:1, that having been justified by faith, are we justified by faith when we have faith? If they say yes, then their ongoing process called theosis of being more like Jesus and becoming more like him to achieve Your transfiguration, your transformative work, it arrives at the place of justification.

Well, then, if that's the case, that your position is that, then why does the Bible say that you are justified when you have faith? Because that would go against what you say.

So these are the kinds of questions that I ask them. And so in orthodoxwiki.org, it says the word justification refers to the process or state of becoming righteous. Orthodoxbridge.com says justification is accomplished at baptism and maintained through a life of obedience to God and confessions of sins. It's it's just ridiculous. It is absolutely ridiculous to say that.

No, the Bible clearly tells us that we're justified by faith, not by faith in works, as these false religions teach. And so, what I'm doing, and others are doing, is working against the false doctrines of Catholicism and, in this case, Eastern Orthodoxy. Don't be duped by their smells and bells, by their gold and silver, by their pomp and ceremony, by Don't be duped. Buy those things. That's not Christianity.

Christianity is the indwelling of Jesus, the work of Christ in you. him living in you and you're living for him. not attendance in a so-called true church. Which is what these religions say. That salvation is found in the In them, in the true church.

No, it is not. It is found in the person and work of Jesus. That's what it's found in. That's who it's found in. And we need to understand that.

We need to believe that. We need to know that.

So there you go. Now, if you want to call me, the number is 877-207-2276. I want to hear from you. Give me a call. Be right back after these messages, please.

Stay tuned. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, welcome back to the show. You know what?

The ad I was just listening to about mammograms and stuff like that, my wife, before she passed away a few years ago, went to a place and They were doing all that stuff, and it was late in the day, near closing. Long story short, they actually locked her in. They actually locked her into the doctor's office. After a while, she's walking around going, Hello, is anybody here? And she had to call.

I don't think she called the police. And then they contacted somebody because she doesn't know who to call and says, Yeah, I'm locked in here. And then they had to come open the door and get her out anyway. Hey, that happened. How about that?

Fun story. Let's get to Martin from Virginia. Martin, welcome. You're on the air. Hi, Matt.

Hey, thanks for sticking with it all these years and fighting the good fight there. Oh, man, I'm fighting. Keeping your head above water, huh? Barely. Oh, man.

I could whine and complain, but go ahead.

Okay, good. Yeah, couple of questions. One on more spiritual and then one More fun, kind of geeky. I know we you know, we we buttered headed on a few s scientific kind of sciencey type stuff on the Bible and some sciencey stuff. You know, we We've crossed paths many times.

I've called in last eight years, but First one in in June. The The body of Moses that St. Michael was fighting Satan over. Is that the bones, the physical body of Moses? And if so, what's.

Of what value would that have been to Satan? Why why why the fight? Because people are idolaters by nature. They want to bow down and serve relics and images. And so, if they had the body of Christ, then Satan could use it.

To, as an idol, to have them bow down. And so.

So then the same would be said for Moses, I guess, then, huh? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I mean that's kinda true.

I mean that's That's right. They you know, they I mean, back in the Jewish tradition, I mean, they did They did honor the body very much so. I mean, it was kind of a cherished thing in a way, and how they. They buried us. Bury we'll put them in tombs and Kept it close to the family.

Yeah, that was the custom that they had what's called an assuary. And that was a stone box, and then they would take bodies, put them in there, and then when they would decay, take the bones out and put them in their body, they'd use it o over and over again. Yes. Mm-hmm. Yep, yep, yep.

So now now kind of the fun geeky thing. All right. And in no way I'm high-end numerologist. I'm not into that, but the the numbers thing in the Bible. I I've seen it a few times mentioned how Certain numbers means so much in in the Bible and it's repeatedly Used.

I mean, when you go back to uh Leviticus maybe, when they had the law of how the temple was built and the sizing of everything and Um That kind of means something or or or just a more symbolic or just have a good positive meaning. Thirteen is the number of sin, and apparently in the pericope of Satan's description in the Old Testament, when you take the pericope, the section of scripture describing him, you add up all the letters in Hebrews divisible by thirteen. The number eight is the number of new beginnings. A circumcised person on the eighth day, eight people in Noah's are. Jesus raised on the first day of the week, seven plus one, it's eight.

And the name, I think, is Yesu Christos, or is it just Christos, or Jesus, is 888. uh in in Dematria. And just things like this. And then 153 fish in John 21. And the word for fish, a gematria, the mathematical equivalent of all the letters, added up is 1224.

Well, eight times 153, number of fish, is 1224. Plus, in the four Gospels, 153 individuals received blessing from Jesus.

Well documented. Yeah. Numbers are strange in the Bible. Yeah. You said something about eight times one hundred and something was A thousand something.

What what was that in reference to?

Okay. So for those who don't know, Hebrew and Greek are ri there have one set of numbers, uh one set of characters that are both numbers and letters. We have two sets in English, one, two, three, A, B, C.

So we have two sets, but when they would speak or write, they were writing letters, which are also numbers.

So they have a each word has what's called a gamatria, or gamatria, some say. It's a mathematical equivalent. And so the gamma, in fact, I should, what I might do is go in here and look at this. I'll go to Carm and look up the word. I've got some of them already written out.

and what they are. Let's see. Look at that tree up. Battery tables, here we go. And so, um So I have them reproduced.

You can go, oh man, hey, Huck, I thought I had more on there. Oh I know what I'll do. I'll open up a different file. And I can go through and explain a few more of them. in detail.

And the Bible reliable and Bible inspired. Here we go. I'm opening up a PowerPoint presentation I did years ago, and I still use this thing. And I go into Gematria in there. And I thought I converted it over to an article.

I thought I did, but maybe it was just looking in the wrong place. Anyway, so. I'm trying to find the ones for Christ Jesus. And uh I'm almost there.

Sorry about this. Story There we go, got so many things.

So much.

Okay, so the word Christos Excuse me, the word cross is 777. The word Jesus is 888.

So the word Jesus, iesus in Greek, iesus, when you add up the letters. What are numbers? You get eight hundred eighty eight. All right. The number of fish that were caught in John 21 is 153.

Okay. Just coincidentally, eight Eight times 153. is that same number of fish, the number for fish, 1224. It's not that big a deal. but Jesus has cast your net on the other side of the boat, on the right side, which is salvation.

Yeah. And 888, a number of new beginnings. Eight is a number of new beginnings because Jesus was raised on the eighth day. Eight people in Noah's Ark, so they call eight, and then we're of new beginnings or something begins. And so The number eight.

times the the number of fish In John 21, 153, 8 times 153 is 1224.

Well, the gematria for the word fish is 1224. But just Interesting. You know? Yeah, so you've got stuff on Carm then. Good, good.

I can I can go on there and try to look stuff up then. I think so. I've got a lot of stuff. on Carm. And so, and I've written so many things, you know, 5,000 articles.

I don't even know what my count is, but uh. There's this like the word Spirit of God in Hebrew is 300, tabernacles 320. Yahweh is 26. I don't know if these mean anything. But those are just some of the interesting things that are there.

And uh yeah, so Yeah. I didn't look it up my notes. Yeah, right. Yeah, I'll I'll peruse Carm then. Yeah, it it'll be it'll be some fun Late night reading.

Yeah, and there are books that go into this, Gematria, and there's a lot of interesting books. that have interesting things in them. which I think are worth looking at, made according to pattern. Is a good book about the tabernacle and what all the things in it mean. Very interesting.

In fact, I like little trivia things like that. You know why the woman who touched Jesus' garment and she was healed? A lot of people don't know this. In one of the Gospels, it says she touched his hem. The specific edge of the garment.

Why would that be important? because a teacher of the law if you recognize as a teacher, would wear such a garment that had knots Knots tied on the hem. The knots represented the law of God. It has a pattern of knots. I don't know how it worked, but that's what it was.

She's reaching down through the crowd, touching the law of God, the word of God, on that hem. Things like that. Which are cool. Yeah. Yeah.

Okay. Yeah, I like stuff like that. Cool. All right. Yeah, yeah.

Thanks, Bob.

Okay, buddy. All right. God bless.

Okay. Yeah. Hey folks, if you want to give me a call, it's easy. 877-207-2276. Let's get to Alex from South Carolina.

Alex. Welcome, you're on the air. Yeah. So what does this passage mean? And so a man shall leave his mother and father and cleave unto his wife, and they too shall be one flesh.

What does be one flesh mean? It's a poetic symbolic way of describing the unity that occurs between a man and a woman when they go into marriage. there's a physical union that obviously occurs, and there's a covenantal union as well.

So the in the marriage is that You thought what?

Okay. Go ahead, no what? I thought that um cleave to his wife means intimacy. And one physical child is fifty percent. 50% mother, 50% father, and it becomes one flesh from the mother and the father.

The child is the one flesh. No, that's not it. It says they become one flesh. Yes, because it says they, that they is representing hang up on them.

Okay, ladies and gentlemen, when we talk about If I'm going to give you an answer, say, stop, let me do it, and give the answer. And then he ignores it and goes on and then continues to talk. I've had so many encounters over the years with people like that. They don't listen, they just interrupt, they have an agenda, they don't think, they don't listen. I'm asking him many times, stop.

He didn't do it. What that means to become one flesh, the physical union.

So, For this reason, a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. It's talking about the husband and his wife. That's what it's talking about. It's not talking about the product of a child.

So he has to understand that, that the they is the antecedent, refers to what's in the context immediately before it. It's not future children.

So it's a physical union. Most immediate context is the Sexual Consummation Act. Marriage is a covenant bond as well. It's a three-way covenant in the Christian context. It's a covenant which is a pact or an agreement between two or more parties.

It's an agreement between the man and the woman with each other. It's between the man and the woman. And the people It's between the mandalman. and God. And so the three aspects of the covenant.

Internal man or woman, external that the man to woman with the congregation or the people. And because it says to keep you and no one else, none that means none of them, and that they're to be there to be a witness of this marriage, and then covenant before God because they're seeking to honor God. And so it's a covenant aspect. It's a social unit too. And this is uh the basis of of society, the social unit.

And then we have mutual belongings and the oneness. My wife and I, when uh we got married, we had one checking account. And whatever I made, she stayed home, takes care of the kids. Whatever I made was just as much hers as mine. And so I made the money and she spent it, you know, and she was good.

And she was very frugal. She was very frugal and she was a good woman. Except for tasting men, but you know, she's a good woman.

So basically, what it means is becoming one flesh physically, covenantally, and socially. And that's what that is.

Okay?

So, look, folks, if you're going to call me up. Uh We just have an interaction. Don't just keep talking over me and not letting me even talk to my own show. I don't like that. Don't appreciate that.

I'll cut you off after a few warnings, as I did. But, nevertheless, hey, there you go. We're about out of time. May the Lord bless you. And please consider supporting us.

We definitely need it. Summer's tough time. And if you'd be so kind as to consider supporting us $5, $10, $15 a month, just go to carm.org and look at the top of the page. It'll say donate up there. It's easy to do.

We really appreciate it. May the Lord bless you. By His grace, we'll be back on here tomorrow. and we'll talk to you then. Have a great one, everyone.

God bless.
