Well, the finale. For week five of the NFL season tonight. We got the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Kansas City Chiefs. We've seen some upsets. We got no undefeated teams.

Man, we're going to blink and we're going to be moving on to week number six. And joining us right now is someone who knows all things NFL. You can catch him on the NFL network as an analyst. You know, he's getting ready for this matchup between the Broncos and Jets this upcoming Sunday, exclusively on the NFL network. Joining us right now is Mark Ross.

Mark, how are you? Excellent. How about yourself? Listen, I'm sticking and moving, getting ready for this game tonight, Monday Night Football between Jacksonville and Kansas City. The Chiefs have an opportunity tonight to kind of tie for the lead in the AFC West.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-1. What are your thoughts? What should we look forward to in this game tonight? Yeah, you kinda The Chiefs last couple seasons at least get this part of the year get written off. You know, they're struggling once again, and the Chiefs' dynasty is over.

They can't play anymore. And all of a sudden, once again, if they win. they're right at the top of the division. And then For Jacksonville, I really this is this is a game for them to really prove if they're actually legitimate or not. I know they're The record looks a little better, but when you come when you look at who they've played, You know, with a struggling Carolina team, they lost to the Bengals when Burrow got hurt and than the Texans, who despite yesterday's result crushing the Ravens, been struggling and forty niners with Brock Purdy coming back.

So this will be the truest test for Jacksonville to say, okay, you're actually legit biggest game down there, and I don't know when.

So We will see tonight.

Well, Mark, when you take a look at the Jags, they're three and one. And I guess that helps cover up some of what is or what has not taken place with Travis Hunter. What are your thoughts on his usage? Of course, there was so much hype with him winning the Heisman. What are your thoughts on how he's being utilized?

Well, it's not about how he's being utilized. I always was skeptical about the Travis Hunter experiment and playing both ways. Certainly when they gave up to get him, traded up to get him. And I never was a believer in that. I was on record on air talking about it.

And I just never saw a scenario where he could actually play Full-time or even part-time to be an impact player doing that. I mean, that's just These guys up here is just a whole nother different level.

So I think for the best, they should just stick them at one position and let him go growing from there because as of now, You know, what's the game plan of why are you just playing him on both sides just to try to justify what you did? He's not making an impact either way. You watch Jags games, you don't need to notice them.

So that's not really what you want to get for. the the return on what you gave up for him. Mark Ross is here with us, NFL Network Analyst. We know that we had two big results yesterday: the Buffalo Bills taking an L to the New England Patriots earlier in the day. We saw Denver come back and beat the Philadelphia Eagles.

Of course, these are two teams that are supposed to compete for a championship. I don't think anything has changed there. But w specifically when it comes to Philadelphia, what are your thoughts on this whole A.J. Brown situation that kind of develops week to week? Mm.

Well, I live here in Philly. I'm from Philly, so I get to listen to it and hear all the madness all weekend. Just last throughout the week when the fans are going nuts and the sports radio people are going crazy about This A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts and Saquon can't get going. And the Eagles were winning, and they get the benefit of the doubt for winning.

Unlike a couple years ago, even last year where they were at this point. There was that uncertainty and there was panic when they got crushed by the Buccaneers at two and two. You know, there's more panic again now at Philly because this offense just is not clicking the right way. And last year, when they went on their Super Bowl run, it was really Saquon. And, you know, A.J.

Brown, of course, and Devontae Smith made huge plays, but. It all went through Saquon and the defense was nasty and You know, now the defense is is living up to their end of the deal once again. And They were winning games as you should because They know how to win games, but when you play better teams and better defenses, as you saw yesterday, and even. throughout the whole season where the week before they had minus one total yards in the second half. You know, they're just going to have to figure something out.

They do have a new offensive coordinator once again for Jalen Hurts, but. I think there's just a lot of flaws with that offensive line, it's not as dominant as they were last year. They lost Makai Beck then. Landon Dickerson has been hurt. He does not look the same.

Lane Johnson's been hurt.

So it all starts from there and when that the running game can't get going, that you see that the patch dam get bogged down because that's not really their true identity. Yeah, I mean, thirty eight passes uh yesterday for for Hertz is just uh Kind of crazy. And don't expect that.

Well, last night we did see, I mentioned the New England Patriots taking on the Buffalo Bills. We know the Bills, hey, nobody's, for the most part, going to just go through the season and not lose a game. But what are your thoughts on what New England has done? Are they going to be real competitive in the AFC this year, or are they going to have to take another step next year? No, I picked them to make the playoffs this year, and I just believed in number one.

you know, Mike Rabel, you brought in a coach there who Has shown he can win in this league and win divisions with Tennessee and win shorthanded almost. But okay, then you got Drake May. I thought year two, you saw last year, he was just a one-man show. He had nothing around him. I thought, okay, here's some.

year two, get some players around him. which they did. They did an outstanding job in free agency. Mostly on the defensive side of the ball, but also the trade for Stefan Diggs, as you saw the payoffs of that last night. And then I thought they crushed it in the draft as well, with, you know, namely Will Campbell, Trayvon Henderson.

I think we'll get going. You'll see him more, especially with. Gives him toward an ACL, I think you'll see him start to explode.

So I thought just the infusion of stability and talent in the coaching staff and then the overall talent level they got through free agency in the draft, I was big believers that they would take a huge step this year. NFL network analyst Mark Ross is here with us on the JR Sport Brief Show Coast to Coast. You talk about taking huge steps forward. Right now it looks like Baltimore is taking a huge step back. Due to all these injuries.

Smoked yesterday by Houston, a 44-10. Do we just write them all for this year for Baltimore? Are they done? They're cooked, right? Yeah, I hate to say it because I picked them to go to the Super Bowl.

I thought finally this was their year. I thought they had the most talented roster in the league. despite you've seen these cracks in Baltimore the last few years where even when they were winning, they just never played like a good team. And then when they actually had to get into the playoffs in these big games, it caught up to them, but they could crush regular teams. And now with all the injuries, and you know, the even the first game against Buffalo, they blew that leap.

Uh you know, they made mistake after mistake. And you just they continue to do that.

Now that that you have half the team playing It's just going to be hard. I just think there's some monumental flaws with that team, that there's just something wrong there with the players don't believe in the coaches, players don't believe in each other. There's something rotten there going on for them to look this bad. Um you know at this point and You know, LeVar comes back and gives them hope, and the hope is their division isn't any good.

So, you know, Cleveland's going to struggle, Cincinnati's going to struggle. Pittsburgh, despite their 3-1 record right now, they're not a good team.

So that's really their only hope that those other teams will be losing too and kind of keep them at bay if they can get anything together. What could the Ravens do at all in the offseason? We know the offensive line has been adjusted over the years. They brought on Derrick Henry to help kind of lighten the load a little bit for Lamar. He's just continued to grow into being an amazing, ridiculous passer historically.

Are they running on a treadmill? Is there anything that they can do to kind of maintain being good? Get. That 365 is paying out before the final whistle. Check out Bet365's unrivaled early payout offer.

Each week we break down the game like nobody else can. From how the season is built to why the players make the moves they do, it is the ultimate companion to the show.

So if you love Survivor, I think you're gonna love On Fire. Follow and listen to On Fire with Jeff Probst on the free Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcasts. Into that thirteen, twelve range range every year.

Well, I think they just need new leadership there with Harbaugh and coaches. They kind of run their course, and players just tune them out. I think that's really what you're seeing for the way they play. There's something fundamentally wrong there in that organization with the leadership there where.

So I think that, and you see that infusion with teams that have had coaches there a long time. Uh you know they they they're gone and you know the coach and the team may need a fresh uh fresh eyes and A fresh voice coming out of there.

So I think that unless something drastically, drastically changes. I think you'll see a whole new cozy staff there in Baltimore, which could reignite them. And Mark Ross here with us, NFL network analyst, another team. They're in the transition period. They got Geno Smith and Pete Carroll as the top two guys of the team, but uh.

The Raiders, man, they can't hold on to the ball. Gino can't throw it to the right guy. They got smoked yesterday by Indianapolis, 40. To six. What happens with these Raiders?

Tom Brady can't go out there and play, right? He's done. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that that's not happening and Look, I know there was a with week Carol coming in, there was a lot of excitement just because, again, someone that leaves the place and kind of gets worn out.

Well, remember that happened to him in Seattle now. It wasn't as if. He was P. Carroll's Super Bowl winning days. uh you know, it was the guy had been around there too long and Living off the past a little bit too much, you know, he brings some stability and whatnot, but overall.

the Geno experience he's finally writing back. And I love Geno. We had him in New York. He got us on fire because we started him. But he still I love the way he resurrected his career and made the Pro Bowls.

But just the overall talent level, I just don't think the Raiders have and they really needed Geno to play at a Pro Bowl level when at this point, I mean, he's playing like one of the worst quarterbacks in the league, the way he's turning the ball over.

So Unless he gets going, unless he gets right. You might be a rough, rough year there. And Mark, is there a team that you look at? That you say, okay, things maybe are not all that great as it stands today, but they have a chance to turn their season around. Is there one squad?

Yeah, I mean there's a there's a couple of them. you know, when you look at You know, Dallas, despite their defense not doing anything, you know, the way the level that Dak Prescott is playing right now, I mean, they're going to be in every game. I mean, you know, Dak's. always play at a high level, Pro Bowl type level. I just always question Him in big games and whatnot, but man, he would CD went out.

I was like, Oh boy, this season's over, and he's really just taken. taking it to a whole nother level there.

So, Dallas will be competitive. They'll be in every game. You know, Carolina's coming on. They tease me every other week. Like, come on, guys.

But, you know, so. Uh and then despite you know, the worry about some other teams Like a Denver started slow, but you see what they could do with that yesterday. The Commanders are only three and two, but Jaden Daniels was out and Now they'll start coming on. I think they'll be a real force.

So Yeah, it'll be a fun year. And even Kansas City, mentioned them earlier, they're two and two people writing them off, and they'll be in the mix right when the ends, when the playoff time comes around. Mark, it's kind of crazy even yesterday looking at Tennessee. I guess Arizona helped gift wrap them a win yesterday. What are your thoughts on the Titans?

I mean, even from letting go of Rabel and Carthon and the current situation, it's like, oh my God, are they now screwing up this opportunity with Ward? What are your thoughts on what's going on in Tennessee? Yeah, and good for them to get that. I mean, what the Cardinals did yesterday was just, I've never seen anything like that, just handed the game away. Look, with Tennessee, and I believed in Cam Ward, he talked big in the offseason of having the best offense in the league and all.

But I thought this would be a a growing pain year for them, again, because of the overall talent. I thought they didn't have the overall talent to really compete at a high level. But um, you know, I don't know the coach Callahan personally. I don't work with him, but Just seeing his division, you can see, to me, I can see good coaches and great coaches and how they interact and how they lead. And there's something there I just don't know how it's crazy about.

the way he kind of conducts things there. with that team. We'll see if they hang in with them. They really needed that one badly yesterday, and we'll see if they can. keep for some momentum from that.

Yeah, we'll see if they can pick something up. I don't feel positive about it, but we will certainly see. One thing that we know that we will see, you talked about the Broncos, the New York Jets, who also have zero wins. They're going to be in action in London exclusively on the NFL network, available across devices with NFL Plus. That'll be this Sunday.

9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. We talk about teams not being in a good position. Do you think there's a possibility? That Aaron Glenn is one and done with the New York Justice if they continue to look like this.

Man, that will be an incredible turn of events, if so. I mean, here was a guy that had his choice of jobs. And of course he comes back there because he played there and his affinity for the Jets and But it's looking even worse than ever. there right now at 015 and They're just they just don't play like a good football team. Of course, Jeff Fields got hurt, but I was always skeptical about that paying him that much money if he was a true franchise guy.

man, that will just set the franchise back even more if they do say, all right, this is but we've seen it before. I mean, if it's so bad and you see foundational cracks in the coaching, it's not just about the wins and losses, it's about how you lose. and how the players react and how the players are motivated. Uh you know uh some solace. You know, when Eric Land was the decoordinator for Dan Campbell, they were, I think, 0-10-1 before they got their first win.

So he could maybe look to that and say, have some inspiration of, okay, at least we were losing games, but we're playing hard and we were competitive. And The team was buying in. They only know behind the scenes that the team's buying in, so what's going on there. Yeah, we'll see what happens. Doesn't look good for the New York Jets.
