Now, Dabbo's complaining about pay. It's like, hey, we got these athletes getting paid in college well. They got to shoulder some of the responsibility. with the team. Sure.
Clayton Kershaw, he decided to announce his retirement yesterday we'll hear from him. We had a good Thursday night football match up last night. We talked about most of it on the air between the Dolphins and the Bills. And the bills came out on top. Mike McDaniel still has his job.

Okay, the Buffalo Bills are now three and O. The Miami Dolphins are 0-3. No surprises at all about either one of those teams and their records. Let's talk about the latest quarterback who's going to be out. Yeah, the quarterbacks have been the walking wounded.
They have been dropping like flies.
so far this season. Damn it, just so far over the past week. The latest man out? Jaden Daniels of the Washington Commanders. The Commanders are getting ready to take on the Raiders, the same Raiders on Monday Night Football who got beat up.
by the Los Angeles Chargers. You had Geno Smith out there throwing three interceptions. And Jaden Daniels, well He's gonna be out. with a knee spray. highly unfortunate.
It stinks. Dan Quinn. one of the most, I say, player friendly. coaches in the entire NFL. He made the announcement earlier today.
Let's take a listen to Dan Quinn. telling us about Jaden Daniels. Jaden was limited today. On the field, we decided to start Marcus and said at the beginning we were going to be. Very diligent on his return to play and make sure we didn't miss any steps.
So we're going to be smart. not just fast and uh player wants to do everything all the time. That's who he is as a competitor, which I love. But that's how we're rolls. Uh oh.
He said he said Marcus. He said, Marcus, it's like I I heard the name, it's like somebody had brought up the boogeyman, it's like someone said a bad word or a dirty word. Dan Quinn said we got Marcus. Who's Marcus? Marcus Mariotta The guy who was selected second overall in twenty fifteen behind Another guy who's been uh Right in the pine.
Jameis Winston went number one. Marcus Mariota went number two right behind him in 2015. And Marcus Mariota, he's had quite the quarterback journey, okay? We sort us due to Tennessee And some And Philly. Barely.
Last time I really saw him was here in Atlanta, And let's just say it didn't go well. Didn't go well. Marcus Mariota, the last time he legitimately had a chance to start in the NFL. He got benched for Desmond Ritter.
Now, that's not saying a whole lot.
Well, it is saying a lot. That means that Marcus Mariota stinks, okay? He was in Washington last year. It was his first year, but God bless him. God bless Jaden Daniels.
In his rookie season, Where he helped take the Washington Commanders all the way to the NFC Championship game. Jaden Daniels didn't miss a game. He didn't. He was healthy throughout the course of the year. Putting up one of the best rookie seasons.
Damn it, the best rookie season. that we've ever seen. from a quarterback. And now he's hurt, first time in his career. Knee sprain, Marcus Mariota.
It's his time to shine, and do I think he will shine bright? No, I don't think so. I don't think so. I think the Raiders are going to shine bright. The Raiders are going to be visiting from Las Vegas.
They will be. I can't say that.
Well, eventually they'll be in the the DC metropolitan area. They'll be in Maryland where they play these stupid games in that dump. But anyway, This is the part of the week where everybody has to tell you a lie. about the back up quarterback. Everybody has to pat him on the back.
Everybody has to inject confidence into the man. Cliff Kingsbury Who is the offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders? Of course, going from Jaden Daniels to Marcus Mariota is like moving from. A McLaren to uh I don't know, a Corolla. And shout outs to everybody driving a Corolla.
Every now and then I still see one. I listen to Cliff Kingsbury talk about his confidence listen to him lie. about Marcus Mariota. Last year, uh just being around him for a year When we signed him back, we felt like we have two starters in the building, which is rare in this league.
So anytime he was asked to play or practice, or even on scout team, he's been. Phenomenal. Treats like a pro. As a leader on the team, despite not being the starter, which is hard to do and can't say enough good things about him.
So if he has to go, I'm sure he'll be ready. Oh, that's that's cute. Feels like we have two starters in the building. Uh yeah no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
If I have to think about the starting quarterback record for Marcus Mariota, There's a reason that he's a backup. It's called turnovers. I mean, his quarterback record. His entire career. is thirty four wins and forty Losses.
Okay. That's that's where we're at right now with Marcus Mariota. And so, if that is the top two quarterback guys that you feel like you have, you got two starters. Yeah, no, you you have a backup. What a nice guy this Cliff Kingsbury is I can tell he lies to women.
I don't know that, I'm assuming. I don't know. I'm just taking a wild guess here. I think he's single. I don't know what he is, but I'm I'm I'm guessing he lies to women.
Anyway, this is what coaches do. They lie.
Okay? And now with Jaden Daniels out, who is Far and beyond anything that Marcus Mariota is. Dan Quinn was asked, he got a knee sprain, okay? His leg is not mangled. He didn't rip anything, nothing is torn to shreds.
Why are you sitting em out? Come on, Dan. Shut your eyes when you know it's ready to go. Not being there all the way yet, John, honestly, like being able to do everything. There's also a side that it was an excellent week because the progress and encouragement to go.
So the fact that he was able to throw all days and get running in today were just not there all the way yet, John.
So it wasn't just one specific you know, test that I was looking for. Oh, I get it. He can't run. And I get it, you got a knee sprain, he can't run they don't want to set him up to be a sitting duck. They don't want to treat him like Shanahan treated R.
G. three. RG3 basically got ripped. to shreds. I get it.
I understand it. completely. This man, Jaden Daniels, he led the team in rushing yards last year. He had, what, 841, 941 yards rushing? He led the team.
And so if you got a quarterback who the threat of running with the football is not capable of running, you don't want him to be a sitting duck. You don't want him to go utilize his instincts and go run somewhere and then the next thing you know, boom, Max Crosby is basically sacking that guy into that terrible turf in Landover. It's a bad idea. And so it really stinks. That Jaden Daniels, one of the young bright spots at quarterback in the NFL.
He's supposed to be one of the next big things. He's already out. with a knee sprain, Cliff Kingsbury, he kept it short on Jaden Daniels. What did he say? Let's take a listen.
to Kingsbury on Daniels. He's just preparing mentally. You know, Marcus is getting the reps physically. Jaden, preparing mentally, and we'll. Take it from there.
Oh, boy. Yeah, we know Geno Smith loves to throw interceptions. He threw three of em against the charges on Monday night. I don't know if he's gonna have a an interception of thon. alongside Marcus Mariota.
But Marcus Mariotta I I I think uh we can start counting the turnovers. I'm going to give him one at minimum.
Okay, I'm going to take one. I'm going to give Marcus Mariota one turnover. It might be at a crucial point of the game. He may throw an interception. He may fumble the ball.
He might run with it. It might pop out. I could see Terry McLaurin pulling his hair out. What hair Terry McLaurin has. Marcus Mariota is here to frustrate.
And so more importantly, You got a lot of fans of the Commanders. You got a lot of people in the DC metropolitan area. If they only have one question, and this question is posed to Dan Quinn, When the hell? is Jaden Daniels Coming back. Give me an answer, Dan.
Shut your eyes when you know it's ready to go and like I said, we're just not gonna do those things. in a fast way. We're going to do it in a smart way and make sure we make the right decisions. Like I said earlier, we know his importance to us and what we do, but... It's gonna try to be as smart as we can, honestly.

He will not play in this game against the Raiders. with a knee sprain. There's no time table for his return. Knowing that his game, he has a great arm, he's not afraid in the pocket, he's a great passer, doesn't turn a ball over. But there's a big part of his game that is also athleticism.
There's the threat. that he's gonna get out there an' run. And so you can bet your Bahan that the uh the commanders are not gonna rush him at all. when it comes down to his health and having him back out there On the football field.
Now, having said that, I believe that the Raiders will walk away with the victory because out of everything. Jaden Daniels backup is Marcus Mariota. I wouldn't trust that guy to carry my baby.
Okay, not at all. You gonna drop it? I would entrust him carrying the food from the car to the house for the cook out. He's going to drop it. That guy's hands are dangerous.
Not a good way. That guy will uh He's going to give whatever you have away. You ask him to hold a dolly, he's going to take ten. Don't trust Marcus Mariota holding anything at all. Anyway.
We did have a game last night to open up week three. And it was a good one. sat right here on the air, By the time I got off the air there was about a quarter of the game left. or maybe a half of the game left, and it was a good one. The Dolphins could not beat the Bills.
Even though they started off seven in all, Even though the Buffalo Bills missed the field goal early, Even though they had a shot to a Tonga Valoa out here throwing an interception late in the game, pretty much helping to seal it. They also had a roughing of punner penalty, roughin' a kicker. that that gave the Buffalo Bills a chance to ice the game, they went out there and they did so. Josh Allen, three touchdowns. James Cook, 108 yards rushing.
And bottom line, this means the Buffalo Bills are 3-0. There was a full expectation that they would just kind of beat everybody up through the season. Nobody's predicting a perfect season. But you can expect the Buffalo Bills to be damn good. And then the Dolphins, yeah, there was an expectation.
That the dolphins would stink And so far, they're following the trend. I mean, all we got to do is wait to see when, you know, Mike McDaniel gets hurt.
Well, not hurt. That'd be bad. We don't want the coach getting hurt. Even though Sean McVay had an injury on the sidelines the other day, tore a ligament anyway. Mike McDaniel is likely to get fired.
Tyreek Hill is likely to say, I don't want to be here anymore. basically set it at the end of last off season. And then the dolphins will just implode and end up in hell. I don't know how dolphins perform in hell, but knowing that hell doesn't have water, probably. Not good.
If there is anything good for the Dolphins, their next game is going to be against The New York Jets were dealing with their own quarterback injury. This Justin Fields has a concussion. He's in concussion protocol. Anyway. This is one of my favorite head coaches to listen to.
in the entire NFL. Mike McDaniel after the loss. spoke to the media. He said that the NFL is tough, The NFL is a challenge. It's going to be an even bigger challenge when he doesn't have to worry about coaching anymore.
Let's take a listen to what Mike McDaniel had to say about how hard it is, how challenging it is to win in the NFL. There's some tough Tough lessons are tough. things you have to deal with in National Football League. And Um You know, to be successful in it, you have to uh you have to Uh not have things I say it all the time, but you can't have things just Uh Cause you failure and it be in vain. You have to have consistent growth.
Um You have to be able to Um go through tough times. and not splinter. And so the the team has shown me Show me that. Um and we'll need that to uh to get the results that we want.
Okay. You know, he's that was actually one of the more coherent comments. From Mike McDaniels. Typically, there are a lot of ums and ahs and ooh ooh. Not at that point.
I don't know, maybe he's trying to showcase the best of his vocabulary. Before he gets the boot. Because I believe it's inevitable. Because the offense well, God bless em, they didn't look bad yesterday. They look bad at the end.
Tuatonga Valo is what now? One in nine? playing up in Buffalo, this is not a good look. How is Mike McDaniel going to win any games when his quarterback is just He's throwing the ball to the wrong guy. at the worst possible moment.
Tua talked about his interception, and let's just listen as he kept it very. Very brave. That's always going to be deflating. But then again, it's not like our guys go out there and They're like, hey, we want to go and hit the punter after he punts the ball. You know, it's not one of those where.
You're like, man. You know this this What is this guy doing? For sure, you're like, dude, what are we doing? But it's not like they're going out there trying to do that, right? to do the right thing and unfortunately That's what happened.
Yeah, two or Tagabelo. He's like, yeah. Yeah, my my guys are not trying to go out here and Yeah. kicks and hit kickers. And he's also like I suck I I threw an interception listening to it.
I thought I was in rhythm and timing of the play. Seeing the flat defender go over the top of Jalen. Jalen's turning around. I think that was a really good play by the defender. Yeah.
What is this scene gonna do? They're like a traveling circus. The Dolphins are O and three. They got zero wins. This is the same Tuatonga Valoa, might I add you, who told you a couple of days ago.
Before he played Josh Allen, Tua came out of his mouth. And he said, I can't do half of what Josh Allen does. And we all knew it already. But the fact that you opened up your mouth and you said that It's like wh where's your level of confidence? You got professional athletes out here who are delusional.
Patrick Beverley, for all he is, is out here going back and forth with With Trey Young? Like, okay, it doesn't matter what you feel about Trey Young, he he has been a multiple time All-Star. And we got Patrick Beverly, who's a role player going after him. Confidence through the roof. You want your professional athletes, you want your stars to be delusional.
In a lot of cases, you want them to think that they're the star, even if they're not. What does Tua think about himself? Is he delusional or is he just one of these? RUSSEL WILSON Optimists We don't need any more of those guys. Russell Wilson is just like It doesn't matter if we're 0-2.

There are no moral victories, but we can say that there have been some plays made, but how can we stay consistent with those plays being made defensively and then transitioning to that momentum offensively as well. Yeah.
Good. The only good thing about their season so far is that they get to take on the New York Jets next. Like there's no other positivity. And I don't know, I'm not a Not a brain doctor. If I was, I'd be giving two advice.
Stay home. But we got Justin Fields who's out. This Sunday with a concussion. Justin Fields is not going to be playing football. Is he going to be available the next week against the Dolphins?

We talked about some of the football that we've seen, some of the football that we will see this weekend. Last night, week number three of the NFL season underway between the Dolphins and the Bills. Bills coming out on top. Two teams going in different directions. Gave you an update on Jaden Daniels.
He's officially out. As the commanders get ready to host Geno Smith and the Las Vegas Raiders, let's see if Tom Brady's gonna come through with any ridiculous secrets. And now I gotta tell you about something that we will witness. to morrow. Dab old Sweeney His Clemson Tigers, the same Clemson Tigers that lost to the other Tigers of Baton Rouge, LSU, the same Tigers that lost to Troy.
Well barely beat Troy, came back to have to beat him. But then they lost this past weekend at Georgia Tech. Yeah, these uh these tigers are now one and two, and Dabo Sweeney has been on the defensive. Tomorrow he takes on Syracuse. I mean, Syracuse just played Colgate.
They beat Colgate. I'm supposed to believe in in Syracuse. Clumps and tigers should wipe them off of the face of the earth to morrow. But then you got Clay Kovnik, who, all things considered, This guy was supposed to be one of the Heisman candidates, and he's having an issue holding on to the ball. I mean we talked about Marcus Mariota th th three interceptions and turning the ball over all over the damn place.
Klay Kade Klubnik already has three touchdowns. Three interceptions. Everybody's beaten up on Arch Manning when it comes down to his accuracy. Klubnik is only completing. fifty nine per cent.
of his passes. There's still time for Clemson to turn things around. Tomorrow is a stepping stone before they take on Bill Belichicks in North Carolina. That'll be a fun one. That entire week leading up will probably be a A massive quote machine between the two guys, maybe not so much Belichick, but Dabo Sweeney.
With a team that's one and two, and they won victory over Troy, they had to bounce back to win that one. He went on an epic rant earlier this week. As Dabo was just like, Oh yeah, people wanna fire me? Are they forgetting about the championships? Are they forgetting about the success?
I don't know, maybe Dabo's forgotten the past couple of years. Listen to this man lose his mind earlier this week. What's so bad? about our program. What's so bad about it?
Like what's so bad? About the worst season that we've had 14 years. How many programs in college football? would sign up for one and only once, 14 years of nine wins. How many programs will sign up for that?
And the playoffs, we all talk about, we've been seven times in 10 years. Who can say that? If we stink because we haven't played for the national championship since January of 20.
Well, I guess we steak. Or we haven't won it since January of 19, we haven't won the national championship.
Well, then I guess we stink. But but why are we held to a different standard from all these other teams out there? Who ain't ever won nothing. We're not perfect, and we may suck this year. We may lay a freaking egg and go six and six.
But I don't think so. And I know that's going to disappoint a lot of people. But I don't think so. All right, the reason we are I think the best program in college football. It's because we've always battled, we've always responded.
We are not perfect. We've had some bad moments. We've had some bad little stretches. We've had some lows and this is one of those. But we Have a consistency, and we have a will to win, and a fight, and a program that is.
to me the model in all of college football. Yeah, the guy went on well, I mean the past couple of years, Dabo. People are talking about you not dipping into the transfer portal. not getting into the college football playoff. He's now complaining about people complaining about him.
If you want to fire me, then fire me, and I'm going to keep on coaching somewhere else, eh? You're not making enough money? What is he like the second highest paid coach in in all of college football? He's making what, $11, $12 million, and he's worried about haters. Like, you're too old.
55 years old. You're worried about haters. What are you doing? Worry about tomorrow, okay? If you lose to morrow and then you get criticized, what are you going to do then?
Not that I expect it to happen again. How do you lose to Georgia Tech? And I get it, Georgia Tech is better. But then how do you come back the next week and lose to Syracuse? I don't expect it.
to happen. In Cade Club Nick, come on man. Can't turn the ball over tomorrow against Q's, right? And then so now Dabo was coming up with even more excuses. He doesn't want to shoulder the blame.
He wants to complain about the criticism that he's receiving. And he says that these players Guys, I don't know, he didn't name names, but guys like Cade Klubnick who are making what, like $2 million? He's like, oh, all college players, these guys are making money. They deserve some criticism to that. Whoa, I never heard a coach say this.
Listen to Dabbo. I mean, you pay the wrong guys, you're in trouble. Right? And these aren't lifetime contracts.
So, I mean, no different than the next level you have to perform. Um And there's still a portal. Kids can still go.
So it's very different. It's not anywhere near like the NFL. I mean, the NFL can't those guys can't. They can get cut anytime, but they can't leave anytime. There's a very different model.
very different model from what we deal with in college. But Yeah, you have You know, you have the guys that you No, big. There's a performer. I mean, guys don't play well, well, you're I mean, it's going to be a different conversation when you sit down the next year, right? And you got Dabbo, he's like, Listen.
These guys getting paid, they need to get held. to the same standard. I mean, you rarely hear a coach who tries to Put his guys in a line of fire I mean, early this week we heard Brian Kelly. LSU is out here winning and it's they're not beating teams down in the fashion that that they might like. And they're like, Well, what's going on with the offense?
What's going on with Nussmeyer? And then you got Brian Kelly. He's deflecting. Attention away from his players. And then you got Dab O'Sweeney going, well, now we pay our guys.
I guess that's a sore spot. Like, you getting paid eleven million dollars. Why don't you shut up? You mad that your quarterback is making two and you're making eleven, you'd rather him make nothing? Get over yourself.
It's kind of spicy there, JR. Not re just just shut up. Like why are you comp what what is he complaining about? He's, you know, getting thin-skinned. Maybe he's suffering from success and he expects more respect.
Maybe he wants that Alabama treatment that they gave to their head coach once upon a time. Maybe he feels as though he has Alabama. North by way of Clemson and he wants that Nick Sabre respect. Yeah, well, I think we've probably seen the. Nick Sabin got out.
All these dudes, all the old coaches, they got out at the right time. Coach K's like, I ain't dealing with this NIL paying guys. Nick Sabin came out and said I ain't doin' this no more. I got families walking in the rooms and I'm walking into room. How much are you gonna pay us, Nick?
Like what?
Now we can't have any more of that. I just think that the college coaches need to get over it. Like we had all these coaches who decided to call it a rap. And then we move to a space.
Now we're in the NIL era. Yeah, we got we got players. The quarterbacks are the ones making the money. And maybe every now and then you get a Jeremiah Smith or some guy, wide receiver, you know, making north of a mill, defensive player, what have you, they're making some cash. Everybody ain't making money.
It's like what are the coaches in in college upset? That the players got some cash in now? Like, what are we doing? I think it's exposing a lot of these coaches. only had the power by way of those scholarships.
And now with money evolved, you're kind of seeing who the leader of men are as opposed to who the guys are who just dangled the scholarships and had the control by way of those scholarships. Yeah, well it was that and then, oh, how are you gonna make me money? How are you going to help me get to the money? Like it was easy to go to an Alabama and go, well look at everybody coming out of here Look at what Nick Saban is doing for these folks. Look at the exposure that you get for Alabama.
Well, I'm not going to get paid. Let me go to Alabama so I can try to get paid. At the next level, well we can throw that out the window, man.
Now we got all this movement wi with Carson back Leave the Georgia Bulldogs. Would Carson Beck be down in Miami if it won for the money? Probably not. Nik is a better example. Nico Iamaliava Would this dude have left Tennessee would he even be at Tennessee, but would he have left Tennessee?
For the train wreck that is U C L A football. He was making like had a deal over the next bunch of years for eight million dollars. Thought that he was going to get money, thought that he was going to stick up the school, ended up losing, had to settle for only a mill. And now the coach is gone. And now we'll see Nico Iamaliava back probably on some other team.
Next year. And so all of this is so new Even the players, some of them, hi, Niko Yamalyava, even they're screwing themselves over. Like, we could do better than this. I know it's the wild, wild west, but you would think that the coaches. Guys like Dab O'Sweeney, who've had success, which he will tell you about all the success that he's had.
Not over the past couple of years, but he'll tell you about his resume. You would think that some of those guys would just shut up, man. Coach the team. Like if you losing Don't don't don't say, oh well the players are getting paid now, we gotta put some responsibility on them. Oh, if you want me fired, then what are you going to do when I leave?
I'm going to go coach somebody. Hey, man, don't be so full of yourself. Be happy that you're getting the money that you're getting paid. 'Cause the coaches are still getting paid a crap ton of money, And shut up things change, nothing stays the same. And when it comes down to money, I don't care where you are.
A lot of it comes down to control. The more money that you make, The less control that somebody has over you, The more that you control the money, the more control they have over you. The NCAA for years denied all these student athletes the ability to even make a dime or a dollar. One of the most ridiculous things that I've ever seen or heard in my life. I thought America you supposed to be able out here and make some money.
For whatever reason, they were allowed to rob the student athletes, rob them from an opportunity to make some cash. And then you got guys like Dabbold Sweeney who are still out here whining. and complaining.
So Ray, when you say a kind of spiky Yeah Like I want him to shut up And when I see Clemson, I could care less about the Tigers. I do not care. I don't. But when I see Dabo Sweeney, I'm rooting for him to lose. Is that too much?
Can I have that? You got to stand on that square, J.R. If that's where you are with it, you got to stay there. Oh, I'm not I got no reason to move. I think he's a jerk.
Now I don't know him from a hole in the wall, but Just by listening to him he comes across to me as an arrogant Jerk. Yeah, and all things considered, previous rants, and now when you're really dealing with some adversity. You're kind of getting exposed as a head coach because you're talking about the quarterback. Isn't the coach and quarterback relationship symbiotic? If the quarterback isn't performing and you're paying them, you can't have the press conference essentially saying that if they're getting paid, they should perform to their pay level.
That's not the college level. That's NFL talk. That's not college talk. If anything, you're failing the quarterback even more by making that comment to the media.
So what is it? Does he want Deshaun Watson back? Does he have any more eligibility? I don't know if he wants him back. I don't maybe close the massage parlours and then we can figure some things out.
You know, it's a bad idea to have him on a college campus again anyway. I think that's uh Thinks it's a bad idea. But you know what? If uh If Lawrence Taylor could be back on the campus of North Carolina, Then I guess Deshaun Watson could be back at uh Clemson. I don't know how these.
These things work. In the great words of Kevin Garnett, anything is possible. Anything is you're right, anything is possible. Deshaun Watson. He may be looking for a job elsewhere.
I don't think he's going to be in the NFL anyway. Poor guy.
