This show gets started every weekday, six PM Eastern. Three Pacific. I'm in Atlanta. Thank you so much to our producer in New York City. Ryan Botcher Man, we've talked about quite a few things already.

There's a lot going on. Brock Purdy. This man just got a brand new contract with the San Francisco Forty Niners. They're paying him fifty three million dollars a year after having him on a discount. And now he's hurt.

Naturally, of course. We pay him, he gets hurt. He's dealing with a toe issue. He's definitely going to be out this weekend against the Saints. He might be out longer than that.

Not good. For the San Francisco 49ers. Travis Kelsey. They're getting ready to take on. They, the Kansas City Chiefs, are getting ready to take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Travis Kelsey says Xavier Worthy's injury? His dislocated shoulder? It's my fault. I heard my own guy. And now the Chiefs are actually underdogs at home, against the defending champion, Philadelphia Eagles.

Patrick Mahome says he's ready to play. And we got so much more to get into. How about this? We got week two of the NFL season starting tomorrow night. We've got the Washington Commanders, the Green Bay Packers.

We get to see Micah play again.

Well, we're going to have a conversation with Chris Russell. He's going to join us from Team 980. He'll be here with us in about 20 minutes. He covers all things, Washington Commanders. We just talked about Bill Belichick.

Still beef em with the Patriots? Patriots are still beefin' with him. Who's banned, who's not welcome? It's all kind of a Kinda sad at this point in time. Of course, in an hour from now, as I do every Wednesday, I'm going to bring you a new Top Six list.

I hope Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft I hope they make up.

Okay. Anyway. Moving right along. Before we went to break. I did mention to you how the Dallas Cowboys are uh.

looking for a Micah Parsons replacement. Michael Parsons will be busy to morrow. He's going to be out there trying to knock the living hell out of Jaden Daniels. And the Dallas Cowboys, well. In their first game of the season, they were having difficulty, to the shock and surprise of no one, At getting a hand, Orange Jill and Hertz.

This Micah Parsons is gone. That's just the reality. And so the Dallas Cowboys have been kicking the tires on where they could get a little bit of help. and apparently a little bit of help, for the Dallas Cowboys is coming in the form of, guess this?

Someone who is a former number one overall pick. He's drafted number one overall in twenty fourteen to the The Texans That's Jadave Jon Clowney. Jaday Jude beyond Clowny it was in Dallas to day. He was in Frisco. He's havin' a meeting.

The Dallas Cowboys are trying to see if they could bring in Jadavion Clowney. with their pass rush. The only problem is with Jadavion Clowny.

Well, his career started off with some injuries, man. He's been a multiple-time Pro Bowler, three times in a Pro Bowl, but he's also probably had the same amount of knee surgeries, especially early on to start his career. Damn it, a couple of seasons ago. Nine and a half sacks for the Ravens. that ties him for the most that he's ever had in his career.

He had nine and a half sacks in twenty seventeen. for the Houston Texans, and he's bounced around a lot. Houston. Seattle. Tennessee.

His season ended there early, because of knee issues. Cleveland with the Browns. He's played for Baltimore. Last season he played for Carolina fourteen games. He only finished with five and a half sacks.

So the Dallas Cowboys are trying to squeeze whatever that they that's existing Enter Dave Yon Clowny. Pretty much out. I don't know if there's anything left. New head coach Or shall I say, uh, the poor guy who has to be Jerry Jones's new whipping boy, Brian Stottenheimer. He talked about bringing in Gedevian Clowni for a little meet and greet.

Well, I can go back to Seattle days, I was with him there. Guy's a really good football player. He's missed playing the game a little bit, and the film obviously looks good. And, you know, we're always in the business of seeing what's out there and keeping an eye on. all good football players, but uh I would say the personal Relationship I have with him, the problems I know he can create both in the run and the pass is the main reason he's here.

Man, it's crazy to think about it. Jadavion Clowney is 32 years old. That's it. And to this day, and I know this feels, this sounds terrible. The biggest play in his career.

still took place. At South Carolina. Where he blew that guy up and that thing Bacha, I think that play, did it win like SP Award for Play of the Year or something like that? That award might have single-handedly got him the first overall pick. It did.

You're right. And what's he been since? Just hurt?

Well, that's not true. That's not fair. He's serviceable. Yeah, he's serviceable, but he was expected to be like, I don't know. The next big you expect me like Miles Garrett.

He was good for a little bit. And then, like you said, the injuries derailed him and now he's just a rotational piece that it gets there, maybe gets you four or five sacks a year. Yeah, the injuries got him, damn it, before he even really even started, so I mean, this is where the Dallas Cowboys are right now. All that talk, all that yap from Jerry Jones about how, yeah, yeah, yeah, we helped out the rushing the defense. You know, we got Clark in here and got rid of Micah, you know, but the problem is we couldn't stop the rush, all of that.

Now you're trying to get a guy off the the bargain, Ben?

Okay. Now should Avion Clani might come in. He may give you ten sacks, I doubt it. That'd be a a career high, all things considered. He just missed the game.

He's already behind the eight ball. Come on. We knew Jerry Jones was full of crap anyway, so now they're out here looking for. pass rush help anywhere that they can go out there and get it. and wild wild stuff.

all things considered. I know the Eagles are one of the best, if not the best, rushing team in the league right next to the Ravens. They rushed for one hundred and fifty eight yards, against the Dallas Cowboys. Jalen Hurts had sixty two yards. Saquon Barkley had sixty.

Okay. Where's all the the stopping of the run? Where's all of that? And yeah, Jalen hurts at the same time. He got sacked.

One time. One Time. Good luck bringing Jadavion Clowny. You know, so you're so concerned about not paying anybody. Hey, you don't gotta pay him much, just give him the minimum.

It's really simple as that. The guy's got one foot out the game and may never come back. And speakin' of one fin' out the game, this story had me in stitches earlier. Darren Waller I know this sounds crazy. The same Darren Waller.

who quit the New York Giants. The same Darren Waller who was famous with the Raiders, God bless him, he overcame addiction. The same Darren Waller who says, I'm not feeling football. decided to do music. The same Darren Waller who was married to Kelsey Plum.

I do not even want to know what that the inside of their walls were like, man. They just uh Oof You people say, I wish I'd be a fly on a wall. Not in their house, but anyway, they're not together anymore. Darren Waller signed a contract with the Dolphins to beat tight end. because he found his joy to play football again.

Well I don't know. Maybe his knees don't want to cooperate. Maybe his brain also doesn't want to cooperate because he didn't play in their beatdown where the Colts beat the Dolphins 33-8, and Mike McDaniel, he's like, I don't know when this guy's going to play. Matter of fact, He might never play. I Expect to not know what to expect until later in the week.

Like I told you, he's working at this one. Um and uh i as long as everything goes, um we'll have a chance, but we may get to Get to the point and recognize that the risk is too great for. Uh the rest of the season.

So in that case, we we will have to do what's best for the team.

So Um I wouldn't say that I'm Not expecting nor or expecting. I'm kind of open-minded to how each and every day progresses. Oh my goodness. I want to fire him.

Okay. I don't know who will call him and tell him that he's been relieved of his duties. I don't know if it'll be the GM. Of the Dolphins and Chris Greer? I don't know.

I doubt it's Stephen Ross, maybe the owner. I have no idea. Stephen Ross gets off of uh you know, one of his jets or helicopters. Lands on the west side of Manhattan. He basically owns half of Manhattan, and then he just makes a phone call to fire Mike McDaniel.

I don't know. I'm sick of him. Like, he doesn't have an answer to anything. It's unfortunate that he has to answer questions about this, right? We brought in a tight end, who said he found his joy for football and And now he doesn't want to play football anymore.

Well great. I'm sure Mike McDaniel's like, man, at this point, fire me anyway. And then he had to answer questions. About Tyreek Hill. we shared with you yesterday.

That's Hyree Kell. Yeah, the same damn guy who. said he quit on the team last year. that he needs to move on to someplace else so these guys are going to be a bunch of losers. Maybe Angel Reese learned from uh Tyree Kill, it is a possibility.

But anyway, Tyree Kill It was reported yesterday that his ex wife, has claimed that over about eight different instances that he reportedly put his hands on her. But domestic abuse And so, not only did Mike McDaniel have to answer a question about a guy who's not playing and may never play for the Dolphins. He has to answer questions about Tyree Kill. Who we damn known He we damn sure know he does not want to be on the Dolphins. Listen to this.

I'm aware of it. The organization is. We've been in communication with the NFL, and we're going to let the process play out. Um as far as our team's focus, um It is 100% on the Patriots. Um and and that's what I uh That's what it should be, a division opponent, and on the heels of an undesirable outing.

We're firmly there. Oh man.

Well, we know the New England Patriots, they lost their first game of the season. The Raiders beat them. I have a good feeling. I feel very good. that the Patriots are going to turn things around in game number two, And that they're going to go out there.

and beat the Miami Dolphins. It's They I think they're gonna fire this guy. In the season. I think the Dolphins are really going to be that bad. Like somebody gots to go.

Is it going to be Tyreek Hill who goes first? Is it going to be Mike McDaniel? And then if Mike McDaniel gets fired, How long? Before He says I want to go. He being Tyreek Hill.

And then you got Tuatonga Valoa. This man is one of these contracts. He has one of these deals. That's paying him more than $50 million a season. Is Tuatongovaloa a more than $50 million a season type player?

I think the hell not. I think not. Got through two interceptions the other day. The Dolphins are a train wreck. They're a dumpster fire.

The Patriots are going to handle them. And then eventually Mike McDaniel is going to get handled out of the building. They're going to tell this guy hey man, pack up your bags, get your box, get your tablet. I'm sure his office has nothing in it. He seems like the type of guy who maybe works his whole life off of an apple watch.

He's gonna be done. Bacha, you think he's going to last the season? I don't think so.

Well, it'll depe I say if he stays at five hundred, I think he'll last the season. And if they don't, he's gone. I think that at some point in time, Tyreek Hill is going to have one of his traditional blow-ups. And I mean, we've seen this guy blow up at work. We saw him.

Yeah, didn't he push a marina employee? He pushed that guy at the marina. He's pushed a lot of people. Yeah, wow. Yeah, yeah, we know, unfortunately.

He had that issue of domestic abuse that he pled guilty to back in college, it it just Yeah. The Dolphins are screwed. And Mike McDaniel is on borrowed time. He might as well enjoy his time down in Florida because. Yeah.

I don't think this year is going to go swimming. At least he doesn't have to go far for vacation. Imagine getting fired in uh, I don't know, Tennessee, and then having to travel somewhere. Mike McDaniel can stay at his house. Unless he really just wants to get the hell upon out of Miami.

That could also be a possibility. And I wouldn't blame him in that regard either. Good luck to the Dolphins and their fan base. Good luck to you guys.

They didn't want him to begin with. This was the one team that wanted him. And they're telling you he's behind. Maybe it's not a grand conspiracy. Maybe everybody is right.

It's in the books. We start week two tomorrow. It goes down in Green Bay. Micah Parsons in game number two. the Commanders as well in game number two.

For them, For the season as they try to build off of, well, their first victory of the season against the New York Giants, they try to build off of their NFC Championship game appearance. What can we expect tomorrow? How have these commanders looked already?

Well, let's talk about the game tomorrow. Let's talk about the commanders. Joining us right now with someone who covers the team in all things DC Sports for Team 980 Radio in the DC area. Joining us right now, his name is Chris Russell, aka the Rooster. Chris, how are you, man?

Hey, JR. How are you? Thanks for having me. Absolutely. I appreciate the the time.

You know, I've watched and popped in and out. On that first game of the season, I looked at it. The Giants are the Giants. Russell Wilson can't move. First game, first impressions from these commanders.

Offense sloppy, despite putting up. 430 plus points. Many drops, contested non-catches, whatever you want to call them.

Some people grade them a little bit differently. You get the point. Jaden Daniels was a little bit behind on a bunch of his passes.

Well, a bunch, on a few of his passes, especially over the middle, JR, which was unusual because Jaden is usually pretty precise and on target, but he didn't have one single throwing attempt in the preseason. Not one.

So, I attribute it to that. I think he will be better tomorrow night. But the offense put up 432 points and somehow only scored 21 points. And again, attributed to that is what I just mentioned, plus 12 penalties on the entire team. Not all on the offense, but a bunch on the offense.

And then on defense, it was lights out. It was like. I don't know, one of the best defensive efforts I've seen, and I've been covering and around this team for 17 years. And I know Russell Wilson stinks. I got it.

I know he's on his fourth team in five years. I got that as well. I understand they didn't have Andrew Thomas or Evan Deal. I got that as well. But man, did they stink?

And did the commanders force them to stink? And that's without even a turnover. They did turn him over on Downs once late in the fourth quarter. But, you know, like it wasn't even like, oh, wow, the commanders' defense is so good that they would do this against every team. It's not like they were blitzing left and right or just, you know, coming downhill and attacking.

They were just winning at the line of scrimmage with their rebuilt defensive line.

So it was a little mix of everything, is basically how I would describe it. It was good enough to beat the Giants. Is it going to be good enough to beat the Green Bay Packers? In my opinion, no, but maybe they can get away with it. Chris Russell is joining us from Team 980 Radio in DC.

You talk about the offense and how sloppy they look. We know about all the new additions: Debo Samuel, you got Laramie Tunsell out there. I mean, Terry McLaurin is not addition, but he got some additional zeros to his bank account. Why do you think Dan Quinn took the approach in the offseason to not have Jaden out there? It's a great question, J.R.

I mean, he did play one series against Cincinnati on a Monday night, but again, he didn't make any throwing attempts and obviously practiced throughout. But the one thing that I can attribute it to, or at least my theory on it, because I don't know if he ever actually answered it, to be honest with you. is they played 20 games last year. You know, they, I mean, you play three playoff games, including the NFC Championship game, on top of a 17-game regular season, you know, and I think that's a lot of football. And even though you have, sure, plenty of months to recover and whatnot, I think it's, you know, A, injury prevention, B, second year in the system for both sides of the football, because it wasn't just the offense, it was the defense as well that didn't play a whole lot, or at least the starting defense.

And I think, again, you know, this rest and recovery stuff, and Dan Quinn is a get things done with tempo, get things done with quickness, but not. Having guys out there constantly.

So the combination of those things probably led to that.

Well, when you think about some of these new additions, we know Krosky Merritt has come through and he said, Who's Brian Robinson? I don't need that. And then you got Debo, who's come in, and he's also contributed right out the gate, led the team with 77 receiving yards this past Sunday. Where can this offense go? Obviously, they're going to put up more points throughout the course of the year, but what they did last year without these pieces was amazing by itself.

Yeah, and they should be better this year, right? I mean, Jakori Krosky-Merritt, who you kind of mentioned there, aka Bill, that's what he wants to be called.

So that's why you hear that reference sometimes. You know, maybe it's a little bit different on national broadcasts than local, what have you. He's a seventh-round rookie running back. And I kind of, you know, looked as soon as they drafted him and as soon as I studied on him, because I got to be honest with you, Jay, I didn't study him at, you know, he only played one game in Arizona for crying out loud. He, you know, played at two other schools and he was very successful at New Mexico State or wherever he was.

You know, and but you don't, you know, you're not looking at him like you would, say, in a Murray in Hampton or somebody like that. But as soon as I saw him, got my eyes on him in May and June, and I talked to some people and watched some tape, I said, man, this kid's got something. And if he hadn't been caught up in the NCAA Dirty Laundry, which wasn't his fault, by the way, and been basically suspended for the rest of the year outside of one. Game last year, he probably would have gone in the fourth round, right? He probably would have gone.

You know, if you look at what Tampa got in their running back last year in the draft, whose name is slipping my mind right now for whatever reason. But I mean, if you look at that, you know, fourth round running backs are going to be pretty damn successful, right?

So this kid's got speed and bounce to the edge. He's got great vision. I love how he keeps his legs churning downhill. He is physical without being a brute, if you will. And I think he's just going to get better and better.

And you mentioned Tunsil. And then they drafted Josh Connerly, the first round right tackle out of Oregon and moved last year's left tackle once the season kind of got underway. Brandon Coleman inside the guard.

So they've improved three different positions on their starting offensive line.

So all of that was designed to, you know, to protect and to open up things for Jaden Daniels in terms of the run game. And then, oh, yeah, by the way, Debo Samuel, when he Healthy. We know what kind of player Debo Samuel is. And JR He has been unfair. Unfreaking believable in camp.

Unfreaking believable. Ne never mind what you saw on Sunday. Unbelievable in camp.

So everybody was expecting pretty much what you got out of Debo on Sunday, and now it's just a matter of can they keep them healthy.

Well, Chris, I mean, you think about what we saw on Sunday. We know it's a short turnaround before going up to Green Bay to take on these Packers, who have obviously jumped up a lot of people's lists when it comes down to being one of the true NFL contenders. That's what happens when you add Of Micah Parsons. What do you expect to take place tomorrow, knowing that the New York Giants were, let's just say, an appetizer? Yeah.

So I think the way I would go about attacking Micah and the way I think other teams have gone is run at him, right? I think they're going to line up in a lot of 12 and maybe 13 personnel, two tight ends, three tight ends, and try and mash and maul him with the bad back, you know, get him on the field. And actually, he. Jared might work to their advantage to keep him on the field, which sounds crazy, right?

Well You got to get Micah off because he can kill you at the pass rush. Got it. Understand he's awesome. Dan Quinn knows him. I mean, him and Dan Quinn have a love affair back from their days in Dallas.

So they know. But Micah, and obviously he can be a game wrecker. And he did it to Jaden in week 18 of last year in the regular season, by the way. And we saw what his impact was. But I would run Adam.

I would run more tempo by design offense, which they already do enough. Keep him on the field. Try and wear him out early in the season. Try and waste some of those snaps. Run the ball more.

So this way he's on the field. When he's on the field, you try and attack him with those two tight ends. You try and attack him with the third tight end. You try and cave him in. You try and wear down that back.

And hopefully, by the late third quarter, early fourth quarter, mid-fourth quarter, he is less effective. That's what I would do. I don't know if that's what they're going to do, but that makes the most sense to me. And then maybe screen over him a little bit, which they have the capability of with Austin Eckler. That's another guy people should watch out for, especially if you want to make a little profit.

That or something like that. I would go over on receptions tomorrow night for Austin Eckler. And that's kind of the way I would go about it. I don't know if that's the way they're going to go about it, but that's the way I would go about it. Chris Russell is joining us from Team 980 Radio in D.C.

Look at you giving away a little prop bet advice. Do you get a cut? Do people send you a cut? No. No.

JR, we work in radio. I mean, is anybody sending me money? Absolutely not. What a way to remind me. Yeah, damn.

Exactly.

Well, Chris, these guys on the football field are making a lot of money. Yeah. Outside of the game tomorrow. We know that this team went 12-5 last year. I don't know any human being who reasonably sat around and said, man, they're going to go to the NFC Championship game.

What constitutes a successful season this go-around for the Commanders? I would say 10 wins is good in my eyes, and maybe that's because I picked them to be 10-7 this year with a much tougher schedule, much tougher gauntlet of quarterbacks starting tomorrow night, obviously, with Jordan Love. And I would also say the compressed schedules that all these stupid prime time games force-you know, four-day weeks, five-day weeks, five and a half-day weeks, what have you. I mean, I got a bunch of them.

So, to me, I thought 10 and 7 was pretty reasonable. I thought about going 9-8, JR against the improved schedule and all the logistics and whatnot that I mentioned, but then I kept thinking, no, the offense is better. The defense is better. Jaden Daniels is amazing. I mean, you would love the guy if you, I mean, look, he's not great on the mic.

He's not great on camera. He's pretty boring, actually. I like boring. I've covered enough. I've covered enough controversy in this town for where.

As many years as I've been around, I covered all of Robert Griffin III, and let me tell you, that was a show. I don't want. Scintillating. I don't want sexy. I want boring.

I want hard working. I want. Football IQ up the yin-yang. I want everything that Jaden Daniels gives me, and for that reason, I said, okay, playoff team, six seed, ten, and seven, and I have them actually losing in the conference championship game. Check this out.

to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Ooh. A little bit of a preview, possibly, of the NFC Championship game tomorrow. Which tells you what I think about the Packers as well. This could be a great one.

We're certainly going to tune in. I know that a lot of the football early on in this season isn't necessarily the best. Teams are trying to round into shape. But on a short window, it's going to be interesting to see what things look like tomorrow in Green Bay. Hey, Chris, we appreciate the time.

The questions and the criticisms are more about ownership than anybody on the sideline or in the GM. He's the head coach of a franchise owned by Jimmy Haslam, so who knows if you put him in a more stable situation with a less volatile compound in the owner's box, maybe you'd get more. It is the JR Sport Brief show here on the Infiniti Sports Network.

Hey, thank you so much. In our last break, we had a great chat, a great conversation with Chris Russell, who covers all things DC Sports. for Team 980 Radio. and our nation's capital. We had a chance to talk about tomorrow's game, tomorrow night's game.

Between the Commanders and the Green Bay Packers. It's going to get us all set and started for week two of the NFL season. It must just say crazy. Chris believes, and I don't disagree with him. It could be a preview of the NFC Championship game.

Could be. If you're asking me. I'm still going with the Eagles to make it back to the Super Bowl, but I think without a shadow of a doubt, the Packers and the Commanders are still going to be. In the mix. I mean, these are two teams that just last week.

When I gave you my top six list of NFL contending teams to win a Super Bowl, I had both of the squads on my list. I had the commanders over the Detroit Lions.

So we'll see what happens tomorrow. This is why they play the games. This is why it's fun to watch. That will be on Ah, man, I what a world we live in Amazon Prime. Bacha, how long has Amazon had damn NFL?

Is it two years now? Three years? I think it's been three years. Wow, already? I don't know.

Was it Cowboys no, it's four years on, Cowboys Bucks? I can't remember. I don't know. On Amazon? I don't know.

Amazon hasn't had the NFL for four years now, right? No. It's three or four. Wow. Time flies, man.

It's just nobody complains about that. See, the thing is, with the NFL. You can always find and identify where the games are coming on. Like there's no big surprise. ESPN ABC NBC Fox CBS Amazon Netflix.

Did I miss anything? That's that's it, right?

So far. For now, there's nowhere else that you get in the games.

Nowhere. No. It's not like Major League Baseball. The games are spread out in. Roku, Fox, TBS, by the time they start postseason play in a few weeks.

I'm not gonna know where to find any of these damn games at.

Now the NBA think about this in another month We're gonna have NBA games on. NBC, Amazon. Who am I missing? I don't know. ESPN.

Netflix doesn't have no basketball. A lot of places. Let's put it that way. At least I know where to find a damn NFL game's at.

Okay, speaking of the NBA, They decided to change a rule today. The owners sat around in the room, I guess they're trying to figure out whether or not Kawhi Leonard and the the Clippers are a bunch of crooks. But one of the things that they did draw a conclusion on As the owners got together for their preseason meetings. It's kind of crazy. The NBA season will start in about a month from now, which is crazy.

But. The NBA said We need to have a rule that encourages its players To participate And more half court heaps. Yeah, you you know the play. The end of a game, you know, the end of a half, the end of a quarter. A guy gets a ball.

Can advance the ball past the half court. And so typically Just as kind of a hail marry, or why the hell don't I give it a try, the player would get the ball. And he'd heave the ball almost eighty feet down the court, okay, trying to make a basket. What am I missing? What's the worst that could happen?

Well, NBA players have realized if I'm taking this shot, That has like a 2-3% chance of going in. Why the hell am I going to take it? Because it's going to hurt me. When it comes to statistics, it's going to show up as a missed three-point attempt. And if I take enough of these things, my three-point percentage is going to decline.

And so the NBA decided to switch that up. And so, starting this season, starting next month. The NBA says If you shoot a shot, on the other side of the court, from more than thirty six feet away, In the first or final three seconds of a game, in the first three quarters. It will not count as as a shot attempt on your ledger. it will count as a team shot.

In the box score, but it's not going to count for you individually.

So, someone like Nikola Jokic, who's not afraid to just take half-court heaves and last-second buzzer beaters way down at the end of the court. His three point percentage. would have been 3% higher. if they didn't take into account His missus His his heaves. He just doesn't care.

He's like, man, I'm gonna take the shot. What do I care? And then you have other guys who don't want to affect. Their three-point percentage. I think Kevin Durant.

Is one of those guys. You will not catch Kevin Durant. attempting a uh three quarters down the damn court shot. And that's one thing that they came up with today. And then also I mentioned the owners getting together.

Trying to figure out whether or not Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers are crooks.

Well, Adam Silver He had a press conference to day. He spoke to the media, and he The NBA is certainly investigating Listen to Adam Silver. When the podcast came out, it was news to me. Frankly, never heard of the company aspiration before, and I'd never heard a whiff of anything around. An endorsement deal with Kawhi or anything around engagement with the Los Angeles Clippers.

So it was all new to me. We spoke internally. Rick Buchanan, our general counsel, is here who oversees any investigations. Rick had a conversation with Steve Bommer, and we quickly concluded this was something that rose to the level that necessitates an investigation. In fact, one that's done outside of our office.

I'm a big believer in due process and fairness and you need to now let the investigation run its course. That means they they they they're some crooks, okay. I'm saying it allegedly. Like it just it makes too much sense. Kawhi Leonard's uncle was out here asking for extra money on the side from the Toronto Raptors.

He didn't get that extra money on the side, they left. They go to Los Angeles, and now he gets a contract for doing nothing. Who gives somebody? $28 million. for doing Nothing.

I don't know. Boncha, do you know anybody making that much money doing nothing? Um very, very high up CEOs maybe. Oh, doing nothing, right? Yeah.

Millions of dollars are doing nothing, yeah. Yeah, it's accurate.

Well I guess Kawhi Leonard does do a lot of nothing. He's used to not playing basketball and getting paid for it. Kawhi Leonard out here living the American dream. I I think ultimately the Clippers are gonna be punished in some type of way. I don't know if they're going to void Kawhi Leonard's contract.

If it has to go that far, Kawhi Leonard is just going to be a free agent. He's gonna have his pick of the litter as to what team he goes to. And I guess all will be right in the world, except for the Clippers will be punished. Again, Something that their fan base is used to just by watching them play basketball. You bring on Bradley Beal, you got Kawhi Leonard.

I don't know. Sir. Kinda sad situation, but I I think there's gonna be a punishment coming. There's just There's too much smoke setting up a fake company that Just all of a sudden is planting trees, but they hire Kawhi as a spokesperson who does nothing. His uncle says that he wants a sponsorship deal, but he doesn't want to do anything to make the money.

What world? I guess just the uh D N B A World. What a crooked space Anyway, speaking of crooked Human beings are crooked all over the place. Always trying to get a leg up. Always trying to figure out who they can uh con and and getting away of, well, the NCAA, to the shock of nobody, They had to ban three student athletes today.

Why? Because they were betting on their own games. They were manipulating outcomes. They were betting on their own. Unders and overs.

They were Tryin' to make some money.

Okay? We had a bunch of players from Fresno State Got another guy from San Jose State.

Well, they got booted from their teams. Today, after the NCAA's investigation, They got booted. Period. From basketball, Michael Robinson, Jalen Weaver from Fresno State, Stephen Vasquez from San Jose State. They officially got banned today.

But just a couple of months ago, when the investigation was going on, Uh listen to some of these allegations. Listen very carefully. This is ABC 30 in out in California. Two of the three college players named in the betting investigation are now off the team. Sports director Stephen Hicks joins us from the live desk with the comments made by one player on his role in the gambling scandal.

Stephen? Yeah, Warren, Jalen Weaver, telling ESPN that he played a daily fantasy contest in Fresno State's game against New Mexico, betting $50 that he would score more than 11 points.

Now, Weaver finished that game with 13, and he tells ESPN he made a mistake, but that he never tried to sabotage the season. According to the now former Bulldog, he never bet on the team to lose, never betting on his unders. According to the ESPN report, that is not the case for Michael Robinson.

Sources tell ESPN he bet the under. On points and rebounds, he would record in games played.

Now, essentially, betting against this team. At least one major U.S. sports book tells ESPN they got increased betting interest on Robinson's props in games this season. He hasn't played since January 11th and is no longer associated with the team. Oh man, here we go.

Well, I know one thing that they did do. They they got booted for real, like they screwed up their futures. Not that any of these guys were going to the NBA. Uh but Hey, they got booted out of college ball. They won't be the last.

They won't be the last. I mean, damn it, we still got the NBA looking into Malik Beasley. The NBA is doing its own investigation. Hey, I always say if you're gonna gamble, gamble on yourself. But not if it's gonna cost you your Your career.
