I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you for listening. We appreciate you being here. Whether you happen to be in Georgia or Los Angeles or Chicago. Maybe you're in Minnesota.

You know, happy about a Vikings come back victory. Maybe you're in New York. With our producer, Ryan Botcher. Maybe you're in Canada. Oh, Canada, hello to you, too.

Maybe you're in Miami, where the dolphins are faltering? Wherever you are, thank you for being here. Maybe you're in San Francisco, in the Bay Area. The 49ers are falling apart already at the seams. We appreciate you, okay?

This show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern. Three Pacific. We've been hanging out for an hour already. We talked about J.J.

McCarthy and that big Vikings come back last night. Talked about Jalen Carter. Already serving his one-game suspension from the game, he got kicked out of. NFL is finding him fifty-seven thousand dollars. That's some expensive spit.

Tyreek Hill, his ex-wife partner. Says yeah. Allegations of domestic abuse eight different times. I know the NFL is going to be investigating that. Mike McDaniel is not worried about being on no hot seat down in Miami.

And now we went through all the injuries from the 49ers. George Kittle is now one IR. Brock Purdy's foot and his shoulder hurts. Jawan Jennings is dealing with a shoulder. He wants new money.

How are you going to get paid and you hurt? Anyway, good luck to the San Francisco 49ers. They've dealt with worse injuries. This got to be a record. They got two guys on their team.

That have been shot. They still want a team. Damn. Guys are made out of God knows what, Ricky Pearsall and Brian Robinson, two guys got shot. Boncha, they bonded over being shot.

Did you hear about that? Wait, really? Yeah, that's kinda uh Depressing in a way? Is it depressing? They are alive.

Is it depressive for them? No, but like of all things you could bond over Getting shot.

Well, yeah. You don't think they walk by each other in the locker? Hey, man, nice to meet you, Brian. Good to meet you. Oh, my God.

Yeah, bro. You got shot too. Yeah, the guy shot me. Down at Union Square. Yeah, man.

The guy shot me in the leg. They may have showed each other bullet bullet wounds, you think? Probably. Probably, but either, yeah, you couldn't bond over anything else like football or other something else. Right.

How many people in the NFL have been shot? Quite a few. Oh, yeah, there's a team, but on the same team, no. Yeah, come on. Yeah.

That's a natural conversation.

So you see him in the cafeteria, you just go, Hey, man. Yo, you got shot too. Yeah, I just shot me last year. Yeah. Be safe out there.

Okay, how about that? There's some jail wisdom for you. Be safe. If you missed the first hour of the show, Well, we didn't discuss anybody getting shot. Go ahead and hit Rewind.

Now that we got week one of the NFL season in the books. We're going to have an NFL expert who's going to come through and join us.

So, big shout-outs to. Steve Weitz. He's going to come through. Courtesy of the NFL network. He will be with us.

in in about 15 to 20 minutes.

So we'll have that conversation. I look forward to chatting up with him about w what he's observed so far here. in the first week of the NFL season. You know, we got the the big comebacks with The Buffalo Bills and the Ravens. Last night, we saw what the Minnesota Vikings did against the Bears and.

You can kind of start drawing a few conclusions, even though it's early in the season.

So we'll have a chat with Steve Weitch about all of the things. But one thing that I do want to get into before we have Steve on the line with us. Are some of the other performances by some of the rookies, guys that we've never seen before? There was a lot of curiosity last night as to what J.J. McCarthy.

was going to do at the NFL level. Comes out of Michigan, wins a championship, rips his knee up. Everybody's like, oh, how's he gonna, you know? kind of transfer his skill set? How's he gonna become acclimated.

It's at the NFL. An' dammy he looked good last night. In the final quarter, when it mattered in winning time. He got the job. Done.

There's some other guys who are actually true rookies. They had some ups, they had some downs. One guy that I'm rooting for, uh, he he started with a down. is Cam Ward. Broncos beat the Titans.

20 to 12. Despite Bo Nix, who's a second-year player, he struggled in the game, had two interceptions. But Cam Ward couldn't do a damn thing. 12 of 28 passes completed. That's a 43% completion rate.

Ouch. No touchdowns. He lost a fumble. He was sacked six times. Times The Titans, period.

This is ugly now. This is ugly. I thought fans in Tennessee might have to get used to a little bit of this. The entire team. Only went out there, and generated one hundred and thirty three yards of offense.

That's Ugly.

Okay, Cam Ward. It's not what he he's used to. Is someone who elevated at every school, every stop, every step that he took forward in college. He got better. I would assume that he would do that here.

He says, you know what I need to do? Instead of getting sacked six times, I need to not hold on to the damn football. Listen to what he said. Uh just gotta be better situationally. Uh knowing when You know, we're on the edge of field goal range, not taking a bad sack, just getting the ball out.

And whether that's dirting it or having to get out the pocket to throw it away.

So I'll just be in a better situation, man.

Now let's understand. The Denver Broncos do and did have one of the best defenses in the entire And I felt Okay, the entire NFL. And so we we'll see what he can do in their next game. It's gonna be the Rams. only gave up nine damned points to Houston, okay?

So maybe things will w won't go from uh from bad to to worse, maybe they're just going to stay bad. For Kim Ward in his his first game. It said coach Brian Callahan, he's just like, man, he's just Stood back there too long and got hit. Can't take a sack in those situations. It's a learning moment for him.

This is a really tough test out the gate in his first start against this defense in this stadium, and there's some plenty of things he's going to learn. He's going to learn a lot over the course of these games. And none of us are perfect. He's not going to play perfect. And there's things that we're going to keep coaching and keep harping on, and he'll learn quick.

Yeah, I think he'll be fine. You gotta take some ass whooping Salon away, right? Everybody does. Life hands you some cruel lessons. He's just out there playing a game and he loves football.

Everybody talks about how much he studies and cares and. I think he'll be perfectly fine. Maybe not so much against the Rams. They'll start 0-2. But who looked at the Titans and said this is going to be a team that wins anything?

Nobody. Nobody. Hey, good luck to Cam Ward. You got plenty of. Tom in front of you speaking of Tom.

I don't know if there's enough time for for Travis Hunter to you know, recuperate. First NFL game Jags actually went out there. God bless him. This is a Unusual thing to say. I don't know how often I'm gonna say it.

The Jacksonville Jaguars actually won a football game. They beat the Panthers. 26 to 10. And Travis Hunter, the guy who plays offense, defense. Sells popcorn, parks your car.

He does everything at the football game. He was primarily playing offense. He hauled in six passes. For 33 yards. On defense, he only played.

Six snaps. That's it. He played six snaps on defense, had one tackle. He primarily operated as the nickel cornerback. They're like, hey, we need an extra guy out here to play pass defense.

And and yeah, why why you gonna throw the guy to the wolves right away? It's going to be an easier transition for him to go out there and play wide receiver. He got the ball and fell to the ground most of the time. He didn't haul anything off at all. I told you, six yards, six receptions, 33 yards.

And it it's gonna be a slow grind for him. He's not he's not Superman. He just got to the damn NFL. Speaking of just getting to the NFL. Jaguars do have a new head coach in Liam Cohen.

And he talked about Travis Hunter and his first game. Listen. Yes, I think that was week one where you missed ten days or so, and there was some a lot of different kind of coverage changes in the back end for us with some of their formations, adjustments. It was a lot that those guys had to handle defensively. And so it was maybe, excuse me, a little bit less for him.

this game, I think it'll only continue to evolve and go more. I thought he played hard on offense. I thought he played fast. He had some good catches, ran the right route.

So I can only see it going and expanding from here. Oh yeah, they don't want to wear the guy out in the first game. We know he got wore out in college. Every now and then he came down hurt. You don't think that's going to happen in the NFL?

I'm not wishing it on a guy. But it's not going to be good, and they're going to need him on offense. Cause their next game, the Jacksonville Jaguars next game. They're gonna be up in Cincinnati.

Okay. Bengals are gonna go out there. In air them the hell out. I know it was an ugly one against the Browns seventeen to sixteen. But I think they're probably going to light them up.

Botcha, what do you think that score is going to look like? Cincinnati, would you say that they're going to score more than 25 points? They should. But considering they only scored 17 versus the Browns. I can't be so confident in that.

I don't know if it's the first game. mentality of the Bengals, but they they they were rough. I'm gonna expect A bounce back.

Okay, I know it's week one, but I'm going to expect them to do what they typically do. There's no way you could throw Joe Burrow out there with all the weapons that he has on offense with Jamar Chase and. And expect them just to wake up and it has 17 points. They're going to light that ass up. I think we're gonna have a little bit of a track meet.

When the Jaguars get up to Cincinnati. As somebody who did have a good game. An amazing game. Every time I looked up, I go, Oh, who needs Chris Godwin? Ameka or Buka.

Coming out of the Ohio State University, welcome to the NFL. Man, he had two touchdowns against the Falcons. I was sitting around watching that game, that back and forth with the New York Jets, and I'm saying to myself, This dude is getting a job done. Looks like he's been in the league. Four Ever.

Baker Mayfield already loves the guy. Extremely quickly. I just think the way he carries himself, I've told you guys that it wasn't a front. You guys saw it live today in person. He's the real deal.

true professional, doesn't play like a rookie, doesn't act like a rookie. His head's never spinning.

So he made made some unbelievable catches and plays today for us and obviously going to continue to lean on him.

So hopefully draws some more coverage towards him and might get the ball again. Yeah, Mike Evans is still out. Does Mike Evans I feel like Mike Evans has been in the NFL for 30 years now? Like his 30 years, 1,000 yards, 10 touchdowns, Mike Evans, that's one guy who is. Going into the Hall of Fame.

He's been torturing the Falcons for years, too. Buccaneers come out on top because Young Wei Ku. Can I kick a field goal? instincts for them.

Well Things for the Falcons and and their fans at least.

Next up for the Buccaneers. Monday night football, they got the Texans. Uh next Monday. That'll be a fun one. Hey, here's a rookie you didn't do well.

People have been waiting to see what he was going to do, too. I'm glad I didn't really. Kind of tune in and and pop to this one. This is pretty bad. Ashton Genty.

Yeah. Terrible. Ashton Jensy woke up. and has Pete Carroll, kind of givin' excuses. About the guy.

is saying he was he was too jittery. He didn't want to wait for any of the holes to open up. He didn't want to deal or wait for any of the linemen to do anything. God bless the Raiders. They surprised the Patriots.

Didn't expect this one. They beat them 20 to 13. Ashton Genty nineteen carries for thirty eight yards. Ouch. That's two yards a carry.

Was he on Like, what did he take before the game? Bacha, what do you take the was he on the smelling salts? Was is that what he took? It's 'cause it's his own instead of the NFL's. That's why he brought his own smelling salts.

So he was hype about that. That is Ugly. That is a ugly start. It can't be that damn bad, okay? And Pete Carroll, he's been around a long time.

Pete Carroll has seen a lot of things. He says that his running back was too hyped up. Also, Ashton was, he was a little, he was hyped. You know, he was jacked up. And he would tell you, I would think, that he wished he would have been a little more patient on some reads and things like that that will come.

He didn't look like that in preseason, this game, being out there and being called on to play and carry the ball. you know, 19 times or whatever. Um it was it was a little bit different for him and uh I he'll play way better. He he'll see things more clearly and I know he's a little frustrated by that. Yeah, he'll be he'll be fine.

It'd be fine. I'm just like, how is he going to last in the NFL? I mean, he's not a. Big guy by any stretch of the imagination. But you take a look at what he did at Boise State.

he'll be fine. You'll be okay. and they take on the charges next. Monday Night Football. Yeah, we got one of those Monday Night Football doubleheaders.

Prepare yourselves. I hate them, by the way. Nothing worse than a Watching two damn games on a Monday, just give me one. Gimme one marquee game. cram everything else into Sunday and just NFL trying to NFL.

I don't know how long it'll take until they start giving us Tuesday games and Wednesday games and. NFL just owns everything. and twenty billion dollar organization. I can't believe it's Come and gone already. Here we are, September 9th. But to talk about what we've seen so far. Following week one, what we can anticipate moving forward. You've had some wild comebacks, we've seen some rookie performances.

Joining us right now is someone who's a senior national reporter for the NFL network. You see him on NFL Game Day kickoff. Shout out to all the work he does with HBCUs. Joining us right now is Steve Weis. Steve, how are you, man?

I'm good, J.R. What's good? I'm good. Appreciate the time and and hopping on to join us. All these comebacks, what game captured your attention the most?

Oh, I mean, clearly the Bills Ravens game because, you know, when the Ravens are up. 40 to 25 with, you know, five minutes left, you're expecting the walk, and then Buffalo to come in and. and rally after mistake after mistake. I mean, that that's Of course, I think it was the most captivating game. Just a lot of I mean, seeing how the Chargers, you know, who are not afraid of the Chiefs, came out and kind of established there a little.

You know, they made their their mark and their cent known. Week one though, I mean keep in mind, the ultimate non-truth teller. Week two is more of an identifier of what some teams are going to end up being. When you think about what we saw last night, just taking a look at J.J. McCarthy, it's the tale of two games.

I mean, the first three quarters, bad. And then the fourth quarter, you see a lot of what people kind of have discussed is positive qualities in leadership. at the end. What do you draw from him? Of course it's going to be an up and down year.

Yeah, I mean look I the the big takeaway It's even so much the production, it's the fact that he didn't wither. Right. Things were tough. Dennis Allen was throwing a lot at him. The running game was not working.

It was just strange. Struggle after struggle, he's getting passes, batted down, but he kept coming. And then once the running game got going with DeAndre Swift, I'm sorry, with uh Aaron Jones. there a little bit and then Jordan Mason really got it going. Then they started flowing.

The offensive line started flowing. Remember that offensive line was getting pushed around earlier. He just kept going and going. And then the dot to Justin Jefferson, and then the next one for the touchdown. And you could just see his whole demeanor.

So, if you're a Vikings fan, I think the biggest thing. It's just that he stood up when the moment got big, and that's huge. for a guy in this league against that defense.

Well, on the other side, we got one winner. We have to have a loser. Caleb Williams, it seems like a lot of his press conferences, even. A season later start to sound the same. Do you think he'll develop into being that full-time guy and keep growing with the Bears or just.

Seems like the same old story. I'm not going to judge him completely off of one game with a new. offensive coordinator play caller. That's not fair. Um He's incredibly talented.

I think he can develop. I think people, again, this microwave.

society we have, we're expecting immediate results. Where I'm troubled He's on some of the open passes. You know, he had a couple of Cole Comet across the middle and things like that that he just sailed. I mean, the balls were right there. The one that ends up.

You've got to hit that. Those were the moments of truth. You know, you heard me talk about J.J. McCarthy didn't wither.

Well, you know, this is one where Caleb didn't. Yeah. and deliver. And so I think there's plenty there. I think it's going to take time for this offense to get going.

Got a lot of new offensive linemen. They're trying to figure some things out. I just, I'm not, you know, I'm not one who's going to sit here and be like, yeah, it's the same old story. I think. I think there's an opportunity for him to develop and get better.

Remember, Jared Goff didn't jump off the page right away in the system, but he eventually got there. NFL Network reporter Steve Weisch is joining us here on the JR Sport Brief show.

Some people that we have seen got their chances and opportunities. It doesn't look good right now. In Miami. We heard about the terrible allegations levied upon Tyreek Hill. They are allegations.

Mike McDaniel is already being asked about his job security. Are are the fish well, like they can't sink, but it doesn't seem like they can swim either. Yeah, it just doesn't seem good. I mean This year, you know, when they traded, the thing that caught my attention when they traded Jalen Ramsey and Johnny Smith, the Steelers. And then Raheem Mostert, the running back who they let go is with the Raiders now, put out a tweet And yeah, you know, same old dolphins, and he puts a cuss word in there, you know, treating good veteran players, you know, like this.

Raheem Moser is the nicest guy in the world. And for him to pop something like that out there publicly. It lets you know there's some things going on behind the scenes. And for them to come out with a performance like that. Um Is a shame.

So, again, I'll stick to it. Week one is the ultimate non-truth teller. But if they don't get things going against New England this week, you're going to see. the the shark starts swimming around the blood, that'll be in the water. Oh, very much so.

It's kinda you talk about w week one. There's already Just uh Brian Dable has to answer questions. About Russell Wilson and is he the next guy? Do you think it's realistic that we see Jackson dart sooner than later? I think it's very realistic just because one, Brian Dayball, you know, he had his owner say in the offseason his patience was running thin.

So he knows he's on a clock. And if they don't win ball games, he's going to have to do something. And oftentimes, a coach who's in panic mode goes to the young quarterback. he was entrusted to develop. But in watching that game.

You can say that we can talk about Russ all we want. I just kept on seeing their offensive line get reset behind the line of scrimmage. I mean, they couldn't get anything going offensively. The commander's defensive front, when they were playing a lot of five-man fronts on first down, just kept on pushing them backwards.

So they were automatically behind the sticks and in kind of push mode. Um, I don't think Jack and Dark could have changed anything. And the other thing, and I think Brian Dayball knows that, and I also think that that schedule, which is absolutely grimy. Um He's got to think about that. But at the same time, again.

Quarterback are coaches who know that they are on a short leash. A lot of time they go to the young quarterback as a potential life raft.

Well, Steve, we know the Giants are thinking about their quarterback situation. The Kansas City Chiefs are not. We saw them lose on Friday to the Chargers 27-21. Rashi Rice. In the midst of his suspension, you got Xavier Worthy getting knocked around.

What is your level of concern this season for the Kansas City Chiefs? Um Probably more. than in previous years. And again, I'm not gonna they played a Good team. you know, week one But that situation right tackle.

I mean, were there the the Mr. Mr. Penalty, Jawan Taylor, it just it doesn't go away. And then it left guard. As you saw quickly, if you're paying attention to that game, Patrick Mahomes is bailing real early.

We can talk about him not having options and guys not getting open. He was bailing from his protections much earlier than he would like to.

So they've got to fix that offensive line. If they do, You know, because they have fifteen who is special. You know, they're still going to be in the mix. I don't like the way their defense got gouged. Um you just don't see that, but they're playing a familiar opponent who schemed them up.

We'll see if they tighten it up. But I think their issues are more along the offensive line at left guard and right tackle. than they are a wide receiver. We saw what happened in the Super Bowl. Not good for Mahomes running for his life.

Steve, if you take a look at this first week, is there a team that you were pleasantly surprised by their performance and feel good about them the rest of the way. Wow, that's a really good question. Um You know, the Rams, that was a super physical game they played against Houston, and the way their defense stood up. and made clutch plays. I think that's a team.

Um Yeah. Again, they came into the season, a lot of people saying, you know, this is a really good team. I'll tell you what: the Green Bay Packers, that's why this game Thursday, and I'll be covering this game. against Washington. Packers and Washington are two teams I'm really.

got my eyes on because in week one the way Both sides control the lines of scrimmage. Adding Micah Parsons to Rashawn Gary. And Luke Van S. On that defensive front for the Packers is scary.

So I think the Packers are a team. Again, we knew they were going to be good, but we may have to rethink how good because that defensive front and the addition of Michael Parsons makes them.

Well, absolutely. It's going to be very interesting to see what Jaden Daniels continues to do here in his second year. Kind of hard to just. kind of top what he did last year. What are your thoughts on The performance, because we get a guy like Cam Ward who goes to the Titans, he has a bad game.

Jaden Daniels was really an outlier last year and almost taking his team to the Super Bowl. It's almost unheard of from a rookie. Yeah, but I mean, you know, Bo Nix was there. I mean, those rookie quarterbacks, for the most part, you know, showed us something last year, but Jaden Daniels is so special. You continue to hear it.

Just his level of understanding of the game. We know he does the the VR. stuff and just he just doesn't ever seem overwhelmed. But now that they got in Debo Samuel to go with Terry McLaurin, you know, they add Laramie Tonzo. That defense is better.

He's not going to be their leading rusher. Last year, he was their leading rusher. They got Bill Krosky-Merritt, and they've got some pieces there to support him. I think that's how he's better. Last year, we had to be a lot of individual heroics and close games.

I think this year they're just an overall better football team. And his leadership and experience is something that can put them over the top. No, we're going to see. But we got a good matchup, as you mentioned. Commanders and Packers Thursday night football.

But we can catch you on NFL Game Day kickoff. Starting at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. On the NFL network, before we get to the game. Hey, Steve, I appreciate the time.

And Howard Bison over here, I appreciate everything that you do to help. Elevate all the HBCUs and HBCU Go. You do a lot of great work, Steve. We appreciate you, man.

Well, I appreciate you having me on. Let's keep on elevating and uplifting. No doubt about it. That is Steve Weisch, NFL Network Senior National Reporter here. On the JR Sport Brief Show.

As I mentioned, you can see him before we get to that. Commanders and Packers game. That'll be this upcoming Thursday. The JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinit Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN is the number.

That's 888-710-4ISN. You heard Steve talk about some of the decisions that Brian Dayball. Is going to have to make for the New York Giants in their quarterback situation, being that he's. Probably feeling some of the heat and some of the fire. To help turn the New York Giants around.

When we come back, we'll hear in a little bit more detail what the heck is going on with Russell Wilson. When are we going to see Jackson Dart? And then we've been talking about all these rookies. What the heck did Abdul Carter do? A Penn State product.

We'll get into that on the other side of the break, and then we'll talk some college as well. Yeah, Abdul Carter coming out of the college system. God only knows when we're going to see Arch Manning in the NFL. There's already controversy that God has played. Two games this season.

As the starting quarterback for Texas, and people are already trying to find things that are wrong with him. What's going on with Arch Manning? Is he hurt? Is he injured? We'll get into that in the New York Giants on the other side of the break.

Will Stefanski, two-type coach of the year? Andrew Berry, I don't know who we blame the Haslams for the Destron Watson debacle. The questions and the criticisms are more about ownership than anybody on the sideline or in the GM. He's the head coach of a franchise owned by Jimmy Haslam.

So who knows if you put him in a more stable situation with a less volatile compound in the owner's box, maybe you get more. to kind of take a look at what we saw. In the first week of the NFL season. That's right, we already got one week. In the books. And this is a good opportunity before I Talk about Arch Manning.

There has to be controversy surrounding the guy. There just has to be, right? I'll get into that in a second. Let's wrap up. Week one of the NFL season.

by sharing with you The defensive player of the week. Brought to you by the Navy Federal Credit Union. Our members are the mission. The defensive player of the week? is Ed Oliver of the Buffalo Bells.

And that crazy come back on Sunday night, That's the guy. That forced Derrick Henry, yeah, the incredible Hulk, the juggernaut, whatever the heck you want to call him. He's the guy who forced Derrick Henry to fumble.

Okay, he also had three tackles. He had a sack in the game, and we saw what took place. As the Buffalo Bills came back to beat the Ravens, 41-3.

So forty. The game was just nutty. And maybe you can chalk that up to, I don't know, first game of the season type stuff. But who's expecting? That type of a game.

Everybody's kind of loosey, goosey, trying to get settled into week one of the season. I don't know. Maybe maybe things will kinda tighten up. By the time we get to week two, which starts on Thursday, as we just discussed with Steve. We got a good one.

This is a good matchup. This is a type of game that could be an NFC championship game. We got the Commanders, we got the Packers, of course you got Jaden Daniels. We'll see if he'd be running from his life, running for his life.

So we'll we'll see with that game Looks like that'll be a fun fun one. Obviously, we'll be here on the air. sitting here in the studio uh watching that game while it's on. And so that'll be a fun one. Hey, the phone lines are open.

If you want to give me a holler, give a call. 888-888-888-888- 710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN. One of the things that Steve had brought up in our discussions about week one. Is the New York Giants and their quarterback situation?

We know the Commanders, they actually are getting ready to take on the Packers, but. They beat the Giants. They beat them pretty bad. The giants were pathetic. How can you be worse than twenty one.

In the modern NFL, to only score six points is is pathetic. I mean, these games are pretty much all set up for you to go out there and put some type of points up on the board. But things were bad for everybody. Russell Wilson, seventeen to thirty seven, completing his passes. It seems like he's afraid to to stand in the pocket and And deliver the ball.

It seems like he's kind of wilting and withering now that he can't necessarily move around. or the same way that he used to. It's bad, man. He led the team with 44 rushing yards. I don't know if that's what the New York Giants.

you know, want from their offense. And so people are already starting to ask. When do we see? Ole Miss quarterback Jackson Dart make his NFL debut. It's already been said that he's number two QB in front of Jameis Winston.

I want to see Jackson Dart. I've seen Russell Wilson. I know what he can do. And I think Sean Payton knows what he can do, which is why he basically fired the guy. We want JAXON Darts We want 'em.

And yesterday Brian Dayball, I guess he put things to rest. He's like, well, you're not going to get him now. It's still Russell Wilson. He kind of left it hanging out there, so I think you have to start your. Uh do you intend to start Russell Wilson this week?

Yeah. Yep.

Okay. Yeah, I mean a and and after a game, you know, it's an emotional game. Um it's a tough game. You know, didn't play particularly well, I would say, collectively, but uh in terms of making any of those decisions, uh really at any position or schematic changes, I'd like to you know, do it with a clear head and watch watch the tape and Um Again, like I said yesterday, that game just doesn't fall on Russell Wilson. Oh, well, the game doesn't just fall on we know it doesn't fall on Russell Wilson.

You got Malik Neighbors, who is mad and yelling at Russell Wilson. Not the first time we've seen a wide receiver getting after AI. A quarterback. But I don't know what the heck Russell Wilson is going to do different. There's no time machine for this guy to go back in.

That's going to make him better. Not at all. And then, next for the New York Giants, they're going to take on the Dallas Cowboys. They're going to outscore them? Uh I think not.

I don't think so.

Okay? I think the Dallas Cowboys are just like, hey, We got to go out here and show that we can put up some points. And not think about Michael Parsons being gone.

So I don't got too much faith. And the New York Giants that they're going to start the season one and one. I highly doubt that. But if there is a bright spot, I just told you about the defensive player of the week. That's Ed Oliver of the Buffalo Bills.

The New York Giants, they got a good performance out of their rookie. Abdul Carter. He had three tackles, he had half a sack, he went out there and blocked the punt. It showed that he's a physical freak. And so at least Brian Dayball, well, he could be happy about uh something, be positive about anything.

Brian Burns, his teammate, Knows how to get the quarterback too. He says Abdul Qada, yeah, he's a freak. I was happy for Abdul getting that block punt. You know, that possibly changed the game. You know, he's a gamer all the way around from defense to now special team.

So I'm just excited to see what he can do for the rest of the season. Yeah, we gotta wait. Here we go. Here, you ready? Hey, Botch, are you ready for some positive?

Has your day been positive? Yeah, I think so. That's not anything negative. Are you you ready for some more positivity? Yeah.

Well, let's listen to Russell Wilson be captain positive. I thought we competed our butts off today. That was a physical game. I thought, you know, we left it all in the field. gave it our all physically.

just kind of you stand tall in the midst of you know, in the midst of that game, just kind of battling through it and trying to find a way to win. Um like I said, they stopped us in the red zone. That's that's I think that was the name of this game.

Okay, all right. I I guess that was that was typical uh boilerplate. He's never high, he's never low, he just He says a lot of positive things. We got beat, but we can do better. Yes, sis, boom, bye.

I don't know what this guy's gonna say next. I have no idea. I don't want to say I feel bad for him. Russell Wilson was. Was with a couple of good more seeds.

If he was still in Denver. Had some more good years. I think you could say that that he might be on a Hall of Fame Trajectory. all these stops that he's had to make now and Pittsburgh to the Giants, the Broncos. None of them ended nice.

You gotta be careful what you ask for, man. You just might get it. If he was still in Seattle, I don't know. Who knows how things would have turned out, but. Russell Wilson has moved on and I feel like his Hall of Fame chances certainly moved on past.

Past him, he ain't going to normal. Botchers, two ladies, done, right? No Hall of Fame. Unless he has a late stage renaissance in his career, I really doubt it. Yeah, it's not looking good, fam.

Man, we used to have that argument just a couple years ago. People would be here on the radio yelling with me about Russell Wilson, Hall of Fame. I'm like, yo, he has to. He has to do more at the end of his career. I mean it it it just doesn't look Good.

right now. Uh speaking of careers, Maybe maybe I'm part of the problem, possibly. I'm waiting on Arch Manning to start his professional career. I'm waiting on that one. All right, but we got conversations already about Arch Manning and whether or not he's.

He's healthy. We saw Ohio State. That game was. Ugly. And then we anticipated, I sure as hell did.

You know, Texas taking on San Jose State over the weekend. This entire weekend, basically, college football. This was ass beaten weekend. We're going to give you some good games on week one, and then by the time we get to week number two. This just stands for teams to just Destroy the opposition.

It's like, hey, show up, get a check and leave. And take this ass whooping with you. But by the way, don't drop your money. on the way out the door. And so Texas beat San Jose State 38 to 7.

Arch Manning threw four touchdowns. What a shock. What a surprise. He did what he was supposed to do: beat up. On lesser competition.

But then we got all these internet sleuths Because everybody's zooming in and Zooming in even more, People are looking at some of his facial expressions. Is he wincing? Is he hurting? after he makes some of these throws.

So much so. That Steve Sarkeesian was asked about this. Is your quarterback hurt? Because people on the internet notice that he makes faces. Listen to this man get ticked off.

Arch Manning seemed to be having some throwing pains by the forest. Arch Arch said that to you? No. Oh, according to who? It just looked like he was...

He doesn't have any. Is that is there an explanation to why he was It'd look like that. I don't know. I've never filmed any of you guys when you're using the bathroom, so I don't know what faces you make when you're doing that. Uh That was That was weird.

Okay, all right, um Bacha, do you know the correlation? No. I I guess Yeah, okay, good job. Don't try. As by like flinching.

Technique. Don't try. Don't try. An archman is just throwing the football. You're not doing anything.

Like you make a bad throw you go, oh man, I wish I had that one back. Does the guy gotta be in pain? And I mean the Steve Sarkeesian got a Who who said that? Who said he's having pain?

Well, it's just a bunch of people on the internet.

Well well Why are we talking about a bunch of people on the internet? It's just. It's kinda crazy. Archie spoke. He said, Listen, man, It just, some of the throws, it was not the best.

Yeah, it had four touchdowns and an interception, but it just. It wasn't the best. A lot to work on. I thought it was sloppy for my part. Can't turn the ball over in the red area.

I kinda Made some throws where defense had a chance to pick, which they didn't.

So gotta play better. I think all around it was a little sloppy. Yeah, are we we really having conversations about a manning in his face? Is that where we are right now? I mean it it Forget Peyton.

I will leave Peyton Manning. alone. For all the years That Eli Manning played for the damn New York Giants. Was on the back page of the paper. The newspapers were still relevant.

Every time, every week was a different Eli face. He was flummoxed. He was confused. Eli Manning would win a game, and then he'd stand there like he saw a ghost. Like he was a very interesting fellow.

when it came to his expressions. No, is Brother Peyton a little bit more demonstrative, a little bit more angry and commanding? when it came down to being a quarterback in the NFL, And Eli was more so known as being kind of aloof. Little goofy looking. I mean, damn it.

I mean, shout outs to Tiki Barber. Tiki Barber was just like, yeah, he's not necessarily the type of guy. Who's gonna come in here and just, you know, rah, rah, rah. Everybody up. He was more so known as having the funny facial expressions regardless of what was going on.

in a damn NFL game. And so to think that here we are. Post Peyton Manning. Post Eli Manning. We're now looking at Arch Manning in college.

and people on the internet are dissecting. his facial expressions. What are we doing? Can we do something else? They lost to Ohio State.

They beat up San Jose State as they should. And next up They got another team that they can go ahead and beat up. They got UTAP. Up next. Yeah, go beat them up, Archman.

And don't make funny faces. The internet people will lose their minds, okay? Don't do that. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infiniti Sports Network. Speaking of college quarterbacks.

We know Arch, he's gonna start. For Texas. He ain't going anywhere unless he gets hurt. Deion Sanders. Man, he is sick of somebody's questions about His quarterback situation.

Who the hell is gonna start? They're still trying to figure it out. Post Shador. We'll hear what Dion has to say on the other side. The JR Sport Reshow, Infinity Sports Network.
