People have Debating about Arch Manning's health. People are debating with Deion Sanders about the Colorado Buffaloes, their next quarterback, who's going to go out there. A lot to discuss, a lot to get into. Good to be back here on a Tuesday. Ibach, you've been enjoying all the football for week one? Oh, I feel like I had overstimulated with how much football there was. I went from having no football.
to Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, it's way too much. Uh we know the NFL likes to uh Put the product out there and people like to watch. gets Sunday night football between the the Bills and the Ravens and The Ravens go out there and choke that one away. I'm like, how the hell do y'all do that? You got Derrick Henry running around blaming himself.
It was my fault. They wouldn't even be in a damn game if it wasn't for Derrick Henry, or they wouldn't have that lead if it wasn't for him. It's ownership, taking accountability, right? And then we got another one of these games last night with the Vikings and the Bears. I'm watching the game off and on, and I'm.
Trying to pay attention. I'm like, man, this is a ass whooping. Why do I want to sit around and watch the the the Minnesota Vikings just Just go ahead and get steam rolled here. by the Bears. And then all of a sudden A 17-6 lead just disappears.
And the Vikings are out here with twenty one unanswered points. And it's funny how things all of a sudden change. I'm looking at the game, every time I'm looking up, I'm going, oh my God. JJ McCarthy, man, he's goin' get killed. He's going to be destroyed just all over the place by the fans in Minnesota, by the media.
Everybody's going to look at J.J. McCarthy and go, man, this guy stinks. Last time I saw this dude throwing a football in a game, he was winning championships with Michigan. He has a meniscus tear, This is all last year. And then comes back and they're just like, oh, He's laying an egg.
When we told you about this guy, Coming out of Michigan, all they do is run. He doesn't have to throw the football like this, and he sure as hell looked like that. In the first half. Forget the first half. He looked like that in the first three.
Quarters, okay? And here's a touchdown, and here's a rushing touchdown to basically win the game, and all of a sudden. Everybody is like JJ McCarthy's the guy. We even heard from Kevin O'Connell, who's one of the best head coaches in the entire NFL. Kevin O'Connell is like: man, I look this guy in the eyes.
His first NFL game. Even though we sucked. And I said, listen, dude. You're going to win this game for us. This is how you instill confidence in the guy.
I told him at halftime, you are going to bring us back to win this game. Um and the look in his eye was fantastic. The best thing is just the belief I felt from the team, the unit. Um and and ultimately that doesn't get done without him in the second half. You like that, the look in his eye.
Like, he got a twinkle. Like, this is one of the. This is one of the movies. I don't know. Maybe like maybe not like Space Jam.
Give some guys some secret stuff, Mike's secret stuff, and everything works out. But anyway. Quite inspirational. He comes back and leads them.
So a victory. Which means, well, one guy wins and the other guy loses. All right?
So, Caleb Williams had to be the guy on the losing end of the spectrum. We'll get to him in a second. Loser. But J.J. McCarthy.
You know, you don't you don't know what to expect. You didn't know what to expect. You know, I was looking at some of these, you know, prop bets before the game earlier in the day, and I'm like, what are we doing here? Like, am I going to believe that Adam Thielen is going to have more than three catches? Am I going to trust that Caleb Williams throws for more than 218 yards?
And I said, I'm not doing anything. I said, both of these guys, you take a look at them, they're unknowns in the first game. I don't know what J.J. McCarthy is going to do. And we saw what he did yesterday.
He stunk, and then he came back and helped him win. And Caleb Williams still looks confused, but I'll tell you one thing that's positive. That you can take away from this?
Well, there's a few things. If you are a fan, of the Minnesota Vikings. One. Kevin O'Connell is a genius, okay? This guy has stood on sidelines for NFL teams for years because he didn't play.
By the way, he didn't really play. He's a mastermind. He's a great coach.
Okay, that's good. If Kevin O'Connell believes in J.J. McCarthy, I believe in J.J. McCarthy because I believe in And Kevin O'Connell. That's number one.
Number two. His Moxie. There's a lot of guys who would just Quit. There are a lot of guys who would just kind of fold and pack it up and just call it a game. JJ McCarthy did not do that.
JJ McCarthy bounced the hell back. And ultimately won the game. That's number two. And then number three. His teammates They love him.
When everybody says the same thing, this is not just some.
Some coincidence. People talk about how much of a leader he is and how vocal he is. The guy played one NFL game. And he had to sit on his ass in rehab last year. But his teammates are like, yo, this dude is the man.
You know what? Let's take a listen to one of the best wide receivers in the game today. It's Justin Jefferson. He talked about how J.J. McCarthy opens up his mouth and inspirational words come out.
Listen. To hear our quarterback, you know, have those words and kind of lead us in that type of way is definitely something that we need. You know, not every time you hear JJ be that type of guy, but today, you know, game day, when the lights are shining, he knows how to come to work and he knows how to have that dog mentality. Yeah, Justin Jefferson came down with one of those those touchdowns.
Somebody else who had the other one was Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones said, J.G. McCarthy is special. He believed in him all the way. I always speak on it.
He's different up here. And it's just his mentality. And even when he. Had that turnover, he came on over to the sideline and he talked to us, and we knew that wasn't going to affect him. He's a special guy, and I'm blessed to have him here.
Look at that. You don't hear that. Listen. These guys are just like anybody else. Like any other other co-workers, right?
You got co-workers. Probably listen to me. Maybe you don't. Maybe you do. I'm sure you have an experience.
There's some coworkers you go to bat for.
Some you don't.
Some you like, some you love, some you don't.
Some people you just don't care about, right? When it comes to an NFL locker room, Nobody putting a gun to Justin Jefferson's head and making him say, Oh, this guy's a leader. And nobody's forcing anybody to say anything. I never heard glowing words like this. About Sam Darnold.
Okay, I didn't hear a positive word out of them like this. And yeah, you want to boost the guy up, you want to get his confidence up like Kevin O'Connell did. Because he's in essence a rookie. But you don't necessarily always get Rose petals thrown at your feet like this in the NFL. Even JJ McCarthy, He talked about Just trying to have fun.
trying to bounce back even though early on he stunk. You know, at the end of the day, yeah, it sucks. It's one of the worst things you could do as a quarterback, but. Can't do anything about it. You got to focus on the next play.
You know, defense kept us in it the whole time, so it was just on our shoulders to go out there and execute and play as one and move on from that. Yeah, you just gotta You gotta look at things and move on and and give better. J J McCarthy People love them. And the next game is going to be bright. Look at the Minnesota Vikings getting all the damn attention.
They're gonna host the Falcons. Sunday night football. America gets to watch this guy again. What a world Monday night football, Sunday night football. Falcons trying to bounce back after a well, it was a bad loss to the Buccaneers.
I was sitting around watching that. Surprise that young way uh cool has a job.
Okay. We got Moody got booted off the 49ers, too, by the way. We'll get into the Niners. They got their own problems. You got.
George Kittle heading to the IR, not a good look, but we'll get into that. And so, congratulations to J.J. McCarthy. If Kevin O'Connell believes in him. I believe in him.
And now we've actually seen him playing a game. I got confidence in this guy that he's he's going to go out there. and continue to get better. Good for him And then on the other hand, You can't have a winner without a Well, A loser. Unfortunately for Caleb Williams he happens to be a loser again.
And I think people in Chicago are not going to have a lot of patience for him. Given the fact of still what Jaden Daniels did last year. and taking his team. One game away, One went away from the Super Bowl. People are looking at Caleb Williams going, man, you were selected number one overall.
What are we doing here? You know, when are you going to get us 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns and take us to the playoffs? This is what people want in Chicago. But when you have a game like his yesterday, We're in the second half, man, he couldn't. could nail the broadside of a barn.
Like that cliche, right? Eight of nineteen passing. Forty-two per cent completion. Percentage. What are we doing?
He's running for his life. It's like he doesn't want to stand in the pocket. He's like, I got to run away. What are we doing? Calm down, bro.
Just calm down just a little bit. And so no, he didn't go out there and uh give up 21 unanswered points. He didn't do that.
Okay, he wasn't out there. Or watchin' his kicker You know, give the Vikings another chance or an opportunity. He wasn't out there with Ben Johnson trying to figure out the clock in his first NFL game. But he stunk. He played his part.
And everybody knows the most important guy on an NFL team. is the QB. Caleb Williams had a year last year, and people want to see progression. And in game one, and yeah, in a lot of game ones, it could be Over hype and over-exaggerations, and people looking too deep into things. But people want results.
In choking away a game like this, people are looking at Caleb Williams going, What are you doing, man? What are we doing? He sucked. I told you 42% passing in the second half. What happened, Caleb?
Why did you lose your accuracy? This is what he said. I think that just happens sometimes um in games and um in moments. Uh You know, just got to really back in and go out there and execute. I think we, you know, we did that on that last drive, our second to last drive that we had.
Uh-oh. I don't know if I give that answer. It just happens sometimes. Yeah, it does, but why, bruh? Why?
Just saying it happens sometimes is not good. It's not like rain, okay? It's not, hey, it just happens sometimes. Every now and then it rains, it needs to. Nobody wants to hear that.
What happened to your loss?
Well, I stunk. I need to do better. It's as simple as that. Like, is he gonna host a talk show or is he gonna, you know, play quarterback for the Chicago Bears? His head coach Ben Johnson was asked the same damn thing: like, this guy's stunk.
What happened here? Yeah, I thought he started off really well and then I don't know, I'll have to go back and look at exactly where those incompletions came in, but Uh i it it certainly felt like it dried up a little bit and and probably a credit to Flores and the Vikings as well. Man fick he's talking about uh Flores, who's suing the NFL, by the way, for the you know, screwing them out of jobs. But anyway, Ben Johnson, he didn't just blame his QB. His QB didn't just blame himself.
Hey, Ben, what about you? You didn't throw passes, but. You are not that glowing. You missed a challenge and cost yourself a timeout. What about you?
Have a 17-6 lead and then see it go the way it did there in the fourth quarter. You know, we said going into week one that the team that would make the least number of mistakes would win the game, and unfortunately, we were on the wrong side of that. We made too many there late in the game. Myself included. Oh, yeah, myself included.
Myself included He's going to get a chance. He's going to get a break. They're gonna leave him the hell alone.
Well, unfortunately for him, he goes to Detroit to take on the Lions next. The team that he just left. And the place where a lot of fans feel like he was a turncoat. Get over it, by the way. The man can't leave for a better job.
You're going to begrudge the guy. You're going to be mad at the dude because he took a higher-paying job. To not be some guy's assistant, but to be a leader? Come on, get over yourselves. Do that part.
First. But anyway, the Chicago Bears, they got the Detroit Lions. Up next. And so I don't know if they're going to turn things around. The Lions are 0-1.
Okay, I don't expect them to start 0-2. If you asked me, I'd say it'd probably be the Chicago Bears getting ready to start 0-2. And for Caleb Williams, man, he got about half a season. before he needs to get ran out of town. Because if you can't turn things around and you can't be consistent and we don't see growth, over what you did last year.
then you're just gonna be another QB. that the Chicago Bears have brought in. That could not turn Things Around. It doesn't matter. what happens here.
With Ben Johnson. He's going to get a chance to work with Caleb Williams. And then if Caleb Williams gets the boot, Ben Johnson's gonna get another chance to work with another QB. Caleb Williams. If he doesn't have a showing this year, he's gone.
The fans in Chicago, they they deserve more. They deserve more than this. The guy has the talent. Can he make his brain and his arm match things? At times, he just seems too overwhelmed.
And so I know it's it's week one. I know it's one game. But already, and I know it's hard to say, but even after one game. One game. It looks like JJ McCarthy has all the room in the world to grow.
The way he's discussed, the way he's talked about, the way he bounced back last night. And Caleb Williams just seems like One big downer. I'm saying sorry, he seems like one big downer, like liquid. Nyquil, like he puts you to sleep. You listen to him in the press conferences, and no, you don't want some guy just kind of Russell Wilson you to death, but you know, with all the positivity, even when you're getting killed and slaughtered.
But he doesn't even seem like he has a pulse. He doesn't come across as being a leader. I haven't heard anybody say, oh, Caleb is the guy and we love him. No, we heard that in one game. After J.J.
McCarthy. Wong dies on the up and up after one game. and the other guy after one season is already looked at like. Man, we d do we like you? Should we like you?
I think Caleb Williams, I don't think he's giving a a lot of people reasons. to give a damn. It stinks for him. Hopefully, he can turn things around. Otherwise, he's going to be.

McCarthy has nowhere to go but up. and that you would have a hope that Caleb Williams could eventually do the same thing. with the Chicago Bears, and he's been around For a Yeah. Let's see how much time he gets. I assume he's going to be able to finish out the season.
But I know everybody on Chicago is uh let's just say they're short on patience. Especially when you draft a guy number one overall. Uh but I did mention to you that there's a There's somebody else who well, I think the fans are short on patience. I think the city is getting tired of them. I it's just the Dolphins.
The Miami Dolphins has been one game and it was an ugly game. as the Colts smashed him. On Sunday, the 33. To eight. That's a steamrolling, okay?
Tuatonga Valoa went out there and had two interceptions. You got Tyreek Hill, four catches for 40 yards. Mike McDaniel, people are like, hey, does he have control over the locker room? Jalen Ramsey won it out during the offseason. He ends up with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a great play.
to help end that game against the New York Jets on Sunday? It's just things are dysfunctional. You got Tyreek Hill, who wanted to quit at the end of last year. had to come back and apologize to the entire team. You got trust issues there.
And then and then this morning We get this story out about Tyreek Hill, and I wish it surprised me, but it did not. Tyreek Hill's estranged wife. has alleged in court filings that he committed domestic violence. Which he has Deny ye vehemently has denied these accusations.
Okay, TMZ got the documents because of course TMZ has everything. You need something to ask? TMZ, unless it's something of a great importance, okay? His ex-wife alleges eight separate incidents of domestic violence and filings related to their divorce case. Tyreek Hill's attorney said.
These allegations are part of a shakedown. that they are an attempt to generate bad media. For hell. And I don't know. I I'm not in this house.
I don't know. I can only go by, you know, his life. The man is 31 years old. He did back in the day, back in his college years. Pled guilty.
to domestic assault. When he's at Oklahoma State, they said, ah, no, thank you. This is one of the most talented, physically gifted guys that you will see in the NFL. He's getting older, of course, he's now 31. There's a reason why he had to.
Go to community college. People don't remember this. There's a reason why. He was selected in the fifth round of the NFL draft in 2016. There's a reason why he had to go to West Alabama.
There's a reason why. It's his it's his behavior. And so I'm not going to tell you whether or not the guy is innocent or guilty. Like last year before the the Dolphins' first game, the guy's getting pulled over by the police on the way to the stadium. The police were aggressive with him, but he was also driving to get pulled over, driving too fast to get pulled over.
And so he he comes across as a little little nutty. Tyree Kill does. You listen to his post game press conference, he's talking about quitting on the team. And so I give it any day now, any week where he's just like, I don't want to be here, trade me. The Miami Dolphins, and we knew this before the season, the Saints are absolutely garbage, okay?
But once you get past the New World and Saints, You move to the Dolphins. which are in a train wreck. status. After getting blown out. Mike McDaniel, he was asked about the possibility of him eventually getting fired.
A great question to be asked, right? A great one. Listen to what he said. Yeah, like I said before, I I don't See this. job void of Pressure I don't see.
um entitlement um in in this job. But You know that I'm not Uh I I think the most important thing is that I worry about doing my job. Um so Uh I I think that's what the team will get from me for sure. Yeah, I'm here. I'm gonna do my job until they fuck absolutely Somebody who's sick of him already, and why not?
He's always fired up, especially about snacks. He loves snacks. It's Rex Ryan. He says Mike McDaniel, he stinks. What the hell is he talking about?
You know, maybe he's on a different level, McGenius guy, whatever the hell he is, nerve boy. But anyway, I their teams their team has no respect for the coach. They play like that. They're like, come on, man, get us a dang guy in here. Where's the physicality of this team?
What did you say? They're salt. They're salt. I'm with you on that. Every part of their football team, they have tons of talent on this team.
Daniel, we were talking, that's why you picked them to win. Because they have tons of talent. They don't play with any passion or any smoke to them. No, they don't. Like if they're not lighting it up on a scoreboard, they don't.
We know they're soft. I knew they were soft when Tuaton Gavaloa showed up to a playoff game. And a guy had a, it's like, I don't know, 30 degrees, 20 degrees, it doesn't matter. But he's showing up like his grandma dressed him. You got to put on a hat, you got to put on your scarf, you got to put on your galaches, you need a bubble coat, you need three scarves, you need another hat, you need some mittens.
Like like t and this is just two atonga Valoa getting off of the bus. to walk to the locker room. You're not even really outside. You're in the bowels of the stadium, conotoids outside. You're not even outside.
I knew they were soft. You can't play in the cold weather. And Mike McDaniel, listening to him, is. I don't want to call names. Rex Ryan did he.
called him Nerd Boy. That's not nice. Call that man nerd boy to his face, maybe, possibly. But now, Yeah, the Miami Dolphins are they're going down the tubes, man. They're cooked, they're done.
And then Tyree Kill, his allegations, the ex-wife says he. He hit her like It's not good. This is what Adam Scheft had to say about that on Stew Gods. You know, listen, there there are a lot of allegations from his Former fiancé or wife, or whatever she is. That's up to the league to look into them to see.
you know what there is to this and Yeah, the league. tries to do a pretty thorough job with these things. Um Obviously, there's going to be her side, his side, and then it's up to the league to determine what's accurate and what's real. Oh, my God Here we go again. The guy got got out well, he he pled guilty to domestic violence back in college.
And now he's going to be investigated by the NFL? Eight instances of domestic viol. Oh my God. What are we doing here? Yeah, I'm not a fan.
Let's just put it that way. I'm not a fan of Tyreek Hill. At all. And speaking of violence, Not the same kind, but we saw Jalen Carter decide to spit on a guy last week, Dak Prescott. NFL a couple hours ago said, Oh, well, he served his one-game suspension because he got kicked out of the game about six seconds in.

You just heard from Rich Ackerman that George Kittle is on his way to the IR. He's gonna be out.
Okay, for the next four games dealing with a hamstring issue. It was only yesterday. At the 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. He talked about Kittle, and he's like, uh, Yeah, he's hurting. And, well, Purdy's hurting too.
Is his shoulder, his foot? Everybody's hurt with the Niners. Listen to this. Juwan Jennings with his shoulder. We're still evaluating.
waiting for that information to come back. George Kittle did have a hamstring. He's going to be out a few weeks. Brock Purdy hurt his left shoulder and toe. Uh we'll see how this week goes for him.

and then went home to Jacksonville and then got the boot there. Yeah, Mac Jones is now the back up quarterback. It's a brock party. And when he hasn't played specifically last season, Brock Party, the San Francisco 49ers have a record. of O in two.
Not expecting big things from the Niners, especially if they're hurt. This is the biggest question mark. You got Brandon Ayuk out with an injury. You got Debo Samuel now playing in D.C. on the other part of the country.
Yeah. It it's not looking good. for these 49ers at all. And then they gotta figure out the kicking situation. They told Jake Moody, we don't want you anymore.
Hard knock life for a kicker. And Lisa I know Young Wei Ku is happy here in Atlanta. They didn't tell him to get packing, okay? Jake Moody got fired. Missed a 27-yard field goal.
Had another kick blocked. Last year, the guy is running around, and you do not want to hear this when your kicker is telling you. My confidence is shot. Man, it's time to go. And if forty nine as they agree, yesterday before he got fired.

And then they've also they had Greg Joseph in. Kind of competing for the job with Jake Moody based on his poor performance last year. And Jake Moody He still went out. He won the job? And then he got fired.
And somebody else who might get fired, he's, I'm not going to say enemy number one here in Atlanta, Georgia, Young Wei Koo. Poor, poor, poor. This man missed a forty four yard field goal. What a forced overtime against the Bucs, and the Falcons lost. That's A bad one.
Okay. I don't got to tell you about Cairo Santos last night. It's it's tough being a kicker in the NFL. Here today, going tomorrow. Ultimately to be replaced.
I I'm just uh surprised that uh Young Wake Cool. And he got, they were ready to fire him last year, and he's still got a job now.
So at least. Good for him. Yeah, I can't believe that the first week of the NFL season is is done. Had those two crazy comebacks. We got kickers who've been fired.

Was very good. Oh, they went back and forth. That was a fun game. That was fun. You look at the beginning and you go, oh my God, the Jets, they got some life.
And then you see the Steelers. The Steelers are like, oh, well, Aaron Rodgers. Has a life. Throwing four touchdowns out there. And then, of course, at the end of the New York Jets, they couldn't get the job done.
Um This this may not be the best thing in the world. You think Ju Justin Fields is going to be there for a year, right? Like, he is what he is. He ain't gonna be nothing great. I just You think he can be a long-term option for the Jets?
Hey, if he plays like he played yesterday. He might be there for five years. Oh my god. there was not that much bad in his game.
