Happy Monday to you. I'm already trying to hit the fast forward button.

Okay? This show gets started every weekday. six PM Eastern three Pacific. Which means we've already been hanging out for one Hour. and we've been able to share with you some NFL news.

Trey Hendrickson. Getting his deal in contract only for one year. With the Cincinnati Bengals, they lock him up for $30 million. He'll be an unrestricted free agent. at the end of this season.

We talked about Terry McLaurin, his deal. He did get a long term contract extension with the Commanders, three years, $96 million. Amari Cooper is now a member of the Raiders, back where he started his career, a one year deal. And then we get a report that Jacoby Myers He wants out from the Raiders. You expect a little bit more movement, a whole lot of movement, between today and tomorrow, 4 p.m.

Eastern, 1 Pacific. NFL teams got to cut their rosters down. to fifty three.

So expect a lot of movement. Let's see if we have any big names that get the boot. Tomorrow, we got more to get into today, okay. In about 20 minutes from now, we're gonna have a conversation and talk all things NFL. with Matt Verdaram from Sports Illustrated.

You know, we'll get into Shador and Michael Parsons and some of these contracts, the Bengals.

So we'll have that conversation with Matt Verduram. In twenty minutes. There's more to get into as well. Botcha, what do they call the I don't want to even give him this nickname. What's Kyle Rowley's nickname?

The Big Dumper? The Big Dumper. I don't is it a good thing? When you're a grown man and you got a nickname based off of your backside, Uh In a weird way, yes. Because you're a good baseball player, I feel like if you were just a regular person.

It'd be horrible. If you're a regular person with a big ass, nobody would care. It'd be embarrassing to be called the Big Dumper. Yeah. You're r you're right about that.

Anyway, we'll talk about Carol Riley. This guy is a catcher. Just out here setting marks. Ain't nobody that big. Let me be careful here.

And nobody playing that position should be able to hit that many home runs. You should be tired, man, okay? And we'll talk about him in At the end of this hour, how about that? Anyway. Thank you to everybody for being locked into the show.

I'm going to talk about Shador Sanders in a in a second here. One thing I do have to uh kind of pick up of note, which is is hilarious. I can't even believe this. It's about Kevin Durant. Nothing happened with Kevin Durant.

He is just uh being clowned for being bald. The Rockets signed a deal with a hair restoration company called Veraclinic. They're based out in Turkey. And Front Office Sports decided to use a photo of Kevin Durant in a Rockets jersey. Uh to kind of promote this, like kind of saying Kevin Durant needs um.

He needs some hair, which is uh he's kind of bald and in the back. I don't think he cares. God bless him. Good for Kevin Durant. Anyway, if you want to be a part of the show, you can do that.

888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4. 4ISN. We talked about some of these NFL contracts, discussed some college football.

Next hour, we'll be joined by Aaron McMahon from M-B Live and Ann Arbor News to get into this.

Well, there's a lot of news coming out of Michigan. Bryce Underwood, we found out, is going to be the starting quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines. He's all of 18 years old, and so that'll be fun to get into. Thinking about the suspensions and the punishments, and so we'll have that chat and conversation. with Aaron next hour.

We got to talk about a quarterback. who just came out of college. We got to talk about a quarterback. that you will hear about all season long with the Cleveland Browns. Obviously, I'm referring to Shaddor Sanders.

He came back from that oblique injury. played in the preseason game this past Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. And let's just say He did not. Look. Good.

He was three of six, 14 yards. He was sacked 14. Five times, and you'll have people who will tell you. Oh well, the offensive line in front of him was a bunch of guys who got cut. happens to be true, for the most part.

There's also some times where Well, he did the same thing that we saw in Colorado. He has a tendency at times. To just run backwards, okay? It's not like he's Anthony Richardson. Excuse me, Anthony Richardson's more athletic than him.

That's my point. We know Anthony Richardson stinks. He doesn't have the athleticism. to drop a shoulder. and just extend a play.

He's going backwards. He's going and flowing out of the pocket. It doesn't matter if he has a good line in front of him with starters or a bad one. And so Shador Sanders looked awful. Against the Rams.

And who cares? It's a bunch of backups playing a bunch of backups, a bunch of guys that have already been cut. They didn't even have Shador out there at the end of the game. Tyler Huntley was leading the way. They kicked a game-winning field goal.

And Shadour was he wasn't happy about not even finishing the game up.

Meanwhile, you got Dylan Gabriel. Who went 12 of 19 passing and also threw a touchdown. And so there's a lot of criticism being thrown at Kevin Stefansky. I don't know if I'd go as far to say that he's setting Shador Sanders up for failure. Why would he do that?

I mean if this is a guy who wants to win football games If this is a guy who has his own career on the line, he's going to go with the best of the best. He's going to go with Joe Flacco, even though he's 40 years old. And apparently, he feels much more comfortable in having Dylan Gabriel out there. And if you want to think about coaches and their own self-preservation, you don't have to look any further. I mentioned Anthony Richardson.

Than the Indianapolis Colts.

Okay, they're out there putting Daniel Jones into the game to be the starter, as opposed to going and developing Anthony Richardson. It's all about keeping their own job.

So Kevin Stefansky is not out here. trying to sabotage Shaddour. And we've heard from Andrew Berry. basically said I'm gonna keep all four quarterbacks. on the team.

But they apparently feel that Dylan Gabriel is more equipped and better to To be a player in the NFL right now. Listen to Andrew Berry on Saturday. He said Shador is basically learning an entire new language now that he's in the NFL. It can never be underestimated how big of a transition it is for a quarterback to go from college to the NFL. I think particularly in Shadur's case, he's going from a college offensive system where, I kind of give the example, it's like, okay, imagine you are fluent in English and now you have to learn Mandarin.

It's not even a Germanic language. And his growth really since the spring on the mental side of things, having command of the offense, has been real impressive. Oh, it's been impressive.

Well, that's the general manager who selected him. What about the coach, who has to figure out how to have him implemented into the game? Kevin Stefansky on Saturday afterwards, watching Shador get sacked five times and only fourteen yards. What were your impressions, coach? All of our players, Mary Kay, there's things that we can do better and there's some good moments out there, but that's what our job as coaches, you know, to develop our guys.

Oh. Boilerplate answer. No answer.

Okay, that was after the game on Saturday. a little bit of a duck and a dodge. What do you say on Sunday? Because there are a lot of people who was saying Man, you screwing Shador up. Like, are you trying to sabotage the guy?

Listen to what he said on Sunday. I'm committed to his development just like all of our rookies, so. Uh well continue to focus on getting our guys better. And that's what we'll stay committed to, and that's what's important to me. He's like, I I don't want to answer no more Yoshidor questions.

Andrew Berry might get fired over this. He might He might get the boot unless one of these guys, Dylan Gabriel, or Shadua, work out. He he may have to get the boot. These are the Browns. Let's keep in mind here.

This is not some Sterling organization with a track record. of making positive decisions. And so what does Shador think about this? He was in the locker room after the game, and he was asked whether or not they he thought they were going to cut him. Obviously I feel like I can improve in a lot of areas, you know, like the same I said.

Same thing I said last time, uh walking up the field last game. That I played in, and I'm just excited for the opportunity to get out there and play. A couple days, three days until roster cutdowns. How do you feel about that? Do you feel like you belong here on this team?

Obviously. Overall, as a player, I feel like I put in the work. I feel like. Everything I do, you know, I try to do it to my best and that's all I've asked for, so. If you ask anybody on the team, would they feel like they belong, they belong, you know, in their own eyes.

I feel like I do. Hmm. What is he going to say? I think they're going to boot me? I think they're going to kick me out.

What what is he supposed to say? at that point in time. They are going to keep him around. It'd be a bad idea. It make Andrew Berry look bad, which is why Andrew Berry is running around saying I plan on keeping all four quarterbacks on the roster.

regardless of how unconventional it is, it makes them look bad. Even I don't care what round and and where he selected him, He's gonna look bad. I'm not gonna say he's gonna fully have egg on his face, but he has to keep the guy on the roster just to see. what he can do. I told you a lot of people are not agreeing with how they're Handling Shador.

My main man, Emery Hunt, we gotta get Emery on to explain his thoughts here. Emery. He was on CBS Sports HQ. And he says Kevin's defancy is strewing this up. Kevin Stafansky handled that situation and this whole quarterback Competition horribly because you didn't, you removed an opportunity for him to redeem himself in that situation to go out as a winner.

It's all about Kevin Stefanski's ego. We saw this with Baker Mayfield. Oh, it doesn't fit my system.

Well, your system has to be about the players that are in it. And we've seen him do this because the offense was completely different when Dylan Gabriel was out there. It was a lot of, you know, short, quick passes to get the ball out of his hands, spread the formation, which is great. That's what you're supposed to do for a guy that thrives in that situation.

So I don't know why for Shador the offense changed. Listen. They don't care about the preseason with Shador. They don't. Like w we already know how this is gonna go.

One day he's gonna get thrown to the wolves. They want to see what he can do. And this is the Browns are just going to treat this like a quarterback chopping block, Joe Flacco will look bad, or he'll go down to injury because he's 40 at some point. And then they're gonna say Who's next? Are they going to put Kenny Pickett out there?

Are they going to say, oh my God, well, let's go to Dylan Gabriel? Who has confidence in Kenny Pickett? Nobody.

Okay. Shador is going to get his chance and his opportunity. I know a lot of people aren't happy about this being in the preseason. They are looking at this For all sevente games. Even TJ Huzhmanzada.

Who has a lot of thoughts about his old team with the Cincinnati Bengal? TJ has some thoughts about the Browns not playing Shador. Listen to him. From my assessment, y'all, They don't want a controversy. That's how it looks they don't want to come because we know what Flacco can do.

Why why is Flacco starting the game? We know what he can do. He led y'all to the playoffs the last time y'all let him play.

So, if you're trying to figure out who you're gonna play. In case Flacco gets hurt, Dylan Gabriel and Shadula. You let them split the game. Snoop is Snoop Huntley. Tyler Huntley's getting cut tomorrow.

Yeah. You let them battle it out. And so to me, it was like, wow, you put him in with guys that's going to be on the street tomorrow. They all getting cut, Shannon. Everybody should do your play with tomorrow or Monday.

And so you didn't give this man a fighting chance to compete. He went into a gunfight with two knives. He gonna lose that every time. Yeah. Accurate.

Yeah, they don't want no drama. That's it. They're gonna keep this This is gonna this is going to be The drama This is going to be the soap opera. For the entire NFL season. It is.

It's the Browns. It's their quarterback situation. I mean, even the Colts, for as bad as they have it between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. The browns are the ones running around with The clown nose is on right now. And historically, and we've seen this over years.

The Browns fans have had to show up. With bags on their heads. They've been running around in a dog pound. They're able to hide their faces with those dog masks. This is going to be.

a disaster all season long. This is like going bowling. One pin gets knocked down, and then you go out there and try to knock down the other one. This is what it's going to be with quarterbacks. Once Joe Flacco goes down, who's the next guy?

Who's the next guy? Who's the next guy? It's like these quarterbacks right now. It's like the Bacha, you know the game at the uh at the fair where you throw the balls at the clowns and knock them all over? Yes, and the new the new role replaces them.

Yeah. That's it. and i ironically they're all clowns. And that's what we can expect from the Cleveland Browns this year. They need to be happy that preseason football.

is over. There's no more controversy here about who's this or who's that they get to stuffed chador in the back. Keep things quiet. Put Dylan Gabriel in the back. Make them sit down and watch these games.

until Joe Flyco goes down. Until Kenny Pickett sucks And then at that point That's when the games really began. Preseason is over. It didn't matter what Chador was going to do. This guy was going to be sitting down until, I don't know, midway through the season.

And that's the fun part. We got to see when he gets his chance and his opportunity. I highly doubt he starts a game. His first action will probably be in relief somewhere. Get ready for the chopping block.

This is what this should be called for the Cleveland Browns. It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. And when we come back, we're going to have a chat with Matt Verduram from Sports Illustrated. He covers all things NFL.

We'll get his thoughts on what the Browns are doing with their quarterback situation. We'll look at some of the contracts that have been given out to guys like Trey Hendrickson and Terry McLaurin. We're going to have that chat with Matt on the other side of the break. You're listening to the JR Sport Reef Show on the Infinity Sports Network. The Recap Show is an unfiltered inside look into the world of global soccer and women's sports.

Follow and listen to The Recap Show wherever you get your podcasts. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infiniti Sports Network. Hey, we're getting close to cut day tomorrow with the NFL. We got a couple of guys who got some new deals, and Terry McLaurin and Trey Hendrickson, even though it may not be the deal that he wanted.

We got Michael Parsons still holding in. They've got quarterbacks just getting traded. There's a lot going on in the NFL. To break it all down, right now we're being joined by someone who's, well, staff writer for Sports Illustrated now, covers all things NFL. It's Matt Verduran.

Matt, how are you? What's going on, JR? How you doing? I'm good. I'm good.

Thank you for taking the time and joining us. You know, it was only a couple of hours ago that we learned about Trey Hendrickson and his deal, just getting a pay raise with the Cincinnati Bengals. What are your thoughts on the fact that they weren't able to come to a long term deal?

Well, look, I think for the Bengals You basically said without saying that you don't want to pay him into his thirties. And so You're trying to get one more really good year out of him. He's had seventeen half sacks each of the last two years. He led the league last season. If you're Hendrickson, it's a big bump in pay.

You now have a $30 million salary. It was in the teens prior.

So, you are getting a lot more money, but of course, you're not getting what you wanted, which was probably somewhere in the neighborhood of the three and the hundred. You are you are certainly settling, but also settling in a way that you're getting more life change money. My big question with this, and the details haven't come out yet, is. Is there a no tag allowed? stipulation in this new revised contract.

Because if there's not then I think it's a mistake by Hendrickson because they can just tag him next year. And then you're just back to square one. You're just dealing with all this again.

So That would be the concern I'd have. But if he has that stipulation in there. Then, hey, go out. Hopefully, have one more really big year and cash in.

Some of you will pay them, some of you are paying big money this off season.

Well, we know somebody waiting for his big payday is Micah Parsons. Everything going on with him is totally unrelated to Trey Hendrickson. We know that he'll ultimately be paid the highest salary non-quarterback in the league. Do you think that we'll see him in week one? We've heard from Schottenheimer.

He feels good about it. What do you think? Yeah, I think so. I mean oh If you're playing percentages. Usually the vast majority of these guys end up playing.

It's just the paychecks are too big to mesh. And that's where it becomes very difficult. And that's why. A guy like Jerry Jones. He knows he's got leverage.

Because he's not missing any paychecks. Like a Parsons would have been missing paychecks.

Now... I also think there's a lot more to play with this. That was number one. First of all, Jerry loves Jerry and he wants to be in the headline. That's true with Jerry more than any other owner in the league.

Number two. The NFL PA She's in total disarray right now. And so Jerry's been talking a lot of stuff about how I'm not going to negotiate with Parsons' agent, who's David Mullgetto, who's one of the biggest agents in the country. If the NFLPA had a ducks in a row, they would threaten to take action against it because that is by CBA rules. That is not allowed.

But They don't have their ducks in a row. And so Jerry's just pushing the power play as much as he can. In the end, I think he's going to pay Parsons what Parsons deserves, which is well above $40 million a year. But in the meantime, yeah, Terry's just gonna have some fun with this and get some more uh A block material out of it. Matt Verduram is here with us on the JR Sport Reef show, covers all things NFL for SI Now.

We see the quarterback situation going on in Cleveland. We just discussed it before you joined us from Flacco to Pickett to Gabriel to Shador. How do you think this is going to play out this season for the Browns?

Well, Flago's going to be the starter, right? I mean, they've officially named him now last week, but everybody's known that since OTAs. Um They're not going to be very good this year, barring a big surprise. And so If we're sitting here, let's just say they're going into game number 10 and they're 2-7. At that point, I think if you're Stefanski, you have to make the decision of all right.

Do I think Gabriel is better? Do I think Sedor Sanders is better? Whoever that is, you play that guy the rest of the season. And you see what you've got, if anything at all.

Now, maybe, look, maybe, let's just say it's Shador. Maybe you play him for seven games and you say, Hey, Okay. This guy's got some real tools, some real traits. He played well. We're going to try to develop him and he's going to be our guy going into 2026.

Or you watch and play seven games and go, okay, there's nothing there. There's nothing there. He's going to be fighting for a job next year, here or somewhere else, whatever. But I think if you're Cleveland, you play the veteran early, And then you move on, it's always a lot easier. To do it that way than the other way, because then you've blown the guy's confidence and you've got nothing left.

That's right, quite honestly. I'm not surprised Indy went with Jones over Richardson. But Okay. You have a real hard time now going back to Anthony DeRich and saying, convincing anybody in that room you have confidence in him. Everybody knows you don't.

It's it's it's tough to do.

Well, Matt, are there?

Well, we saw with Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. Is there any other teams that you take a look at and go, their quarterback situation might be a soap opera throughout the course of the year? Yeah, I mean look I I think the Saints you know I wouldn't be surprised to see a few teams or a few uh quarterbacks play for them there. The Giants. Look, I mean, I'm from New York.

I know the pressure that goes into just playing for that organization or any organization that tri-state area. If they're not good early, and I mean like a couple of games early, Jackson's arts get thrown in there because if you look at the Giants. It's the Commander's week one. It's at the Cowboys week two. It's home on a Sunday night to the Chiefs week three.

I mean, they could easily be on three or Russell Wilson. And if they are. It's not just the pressure in New York, it's also. You've got Dable and Shane fighting for their job. If they go 413 this year, they're both gone.

But if you go six and eleven, but Dart looks like he's fantastic. You're not getting fired because then all of a sudden say, hey, let's not change everything. Dark played well. We've got our coach and our quarterback. We can feel pretty good about themselves.

So yeah, I think the Giants are fascinating. And then there are some other teams. I mean, are we going to You know, are we going to get Justin Fields for all 17 games in New York? We'll find out. Um, you know, I but I watch the Giants mostly and see, I'm really intrigued.

by when Dart's going to get into that lineup. Wow, Matt Verduram is joining us here. NFL staff writer for SI Now. We know that cut day is tomorrow, four p.m. Eastern, one Pacific.

Are there any names that you you're on the lookout for? Are there any quarterbacks or players in general who you think might End upon a wire maw? You know, a lot of times the names that get out there, like the the bigger name guys, they're guys that Are bigger names because they were good four or five years ago. And then it becomes one of those things where, yeah, well, there's a reason that guy got cut. I don't think any quarterback's going to get released that could help somebody, like significantly help them.

You know, the Browns, there's been a lot of talk of they're going to be a three or four quarterback. Look, if they decide to go to three. I could see him cutting a guy like Pickett. And maybe somebody like the Saints pick him up 'cause they go, Hey, you know what, Callan Moore? He knows Pickett from their days in Philadelphia together.

He can come in here and give three guys who have basically no experience in the league.

Some point or some help, but I actually think for the Saints, like that makes sense. But I don't think anybody's going to get cut from the quarterback position that you go, oh wow, that guy. could go and really help somebody. You know, I I always try to look for veterans who You know, maybe a team has already drafted a guy who's replacing him. You know, you look at You know, I try to look at the older teams too, the veteran teams.

You know, You look at a team like Kansas City, Joshua Williams is a corner who's been the starter and a reserve at times. third round pick a few years ago. He's going to get cut in Kansas City unless something really shocking happens. Like I think especially if he goes to a man coverage team. You can help somebody.

Um but it's I think it's guys like that more than it's gonna be A name that you go, wow, like I can't believe that guy got cut. I think that's more of the trade deadline. Early November you go, Okay, that's when you can really crap it out yet.

Well, one thing we do know, Matt, we just talked about it with Trey Hendrickson getting his deal. We know Terry McLaurin, he got his contract, number one option for Jaden Daniels last year. They shocked the hell out of everybody, almost going to the Super Bowl one step away. Is there a team that you see this season? Granted, you just can't roll the dice and go, hey, they can make the Super Bowl.

But do you think there's a team that's going to take a big step this upcoming season? Yeah, there's a few teams that I like.

So I don't think they have any shot at going to the Super Bowl, but. I really like New England. I think New England's going to make the playoffs. I I think Ravel's an excellent coach. He's a tone setter.

McDaniels, while he's a disaster as a head coach, he's a really good coordinator. And Drake May's good. If you watch Drake May last year, Drake May could play. They had nobody around him. They couldn't block, they could catch.

He still played really well. Um, with virtually no coaching toward the end of that season, it felt like it's it felt very directionalist.

So I think they're going to be good. I think they're a legitimate nine-win type team. And the NFC This is kind of a weird answer because this team won a lot of games last year. I actually think the Vikings can make a run toward the Super Bowl. I think That Ross is loaded.

Now I and McCarthy's basically a rookie. And that's going to of course be the big the big tipping point. But O'Connell's a great coach, and he's a great quarterbacks coach, and that team is so good around him. I would not look, I don't think they're doing 14 games again. I think it went 11 or 12 or something like that, but I think that.

That's still enough. They're really intriguing me. That roster is a lot better than people realize. Yeah. Well, Matt, we know that the Vikings recently picked up Carson Wentz to be J.J.

McCarthy's backup. They send Sam Howell to the Eagles. Knowing that J.J. McCarthy is a rookie. Do you think we're going to see Carson Wentz out there on the field sometime this year?

Not unless it's thirty to nothing, one way or the other. Or a good start. Look, I think Wentz is brought in because he does have that experience factor. I mean, Howell has some, but not as much as Wentz, of course. And Howell was pretty rough this preseason.

I was in Minnesota for training camp. They were part of my tour. And they're really excited about Max Brosnan, who's a backup. He's a rookie on Drafted Trades Night of Minnesota. Not excited, of course, about him, like he's going to usurp McCarthy, but He played really, really well.

training camp in preseason. I think that gave them a little bit more confidence, like, hey, you know what? Even if something happens and Wentz doesn't fill the bill, be like this kid.

Now, look, you're playing one of those guys. You're in a tough spot if you're the Vikings. But Yeah, I think Willis comes in as a free agent just as a guy who He's been in a bunch of systems. He's been in multiple, a starter role, almost an MVP if he doesn't get hurt one year. Then he's a backup.

I think that experience, that wealth experience is a big reason Minnesota went and got them.

Well, Matt, I can't have you on and not ask you about the Kansas City Chiefs. What are your thoughts on that left side of the offensive line? What we can expect with the suspension coming to Rashi Rice. What are your thoughts on the Chiefs season? Look, I I've said for months That team's season is going to be determined by their left hack on the left.

Because Defensively, we spike no, well, they're going to be good. I mean, even if they're not in a top five, they'll be in a top 10. They'll be. You know, with Chris Jones, McDuffie and Bald, they'll be a top 10 defense. But It's really going to come down to can they block?

In the last couple of years, even the year they beat the Niners at the Super Bowl the second time. They really could not block outside of the interior. The tackles were a borderline disaster. And they won in spite of it. Last year, it got to a point they had four different left tackles.

They did two different left guards. It was a train wreck. To this point, Joss Simmons has been. Fantastic. I I think a lot of people in Kansas City would say he's going to the five best players in camp this year.

Um The big question is of guard. Kingsley Silamate was a second round pick a year ago. They moved him in from tackle to guard. He was really shaky the first two preseason games. Played very well against the Bears when he got extended action, played three tries.

And he's good. I think the offense is pretty loaded with Rice and Worthy and Hollywood Brown and Kelsey and Pacheco, but. It's It's all about that left side. If they can hold up, I think the offense is one of the best in the league. If not, then you're back to where you were a year ago, where you've got to really scheme around.

No.

Well well, we'll we'll see if they Can keep the quarterback upright. We know what Patrick Mahomes can do if he has that protection out there. Matt, thank you so much for the time. Please tell everybody where they can follow you and all your work on SI Now, the Chiefs, Phillison. Yeah, just add Matt Verderam on Twitter.

All my work is always there, it's at si.com. As you said, SI Now where they tweet out. Um I have a Patreon podcast, the Matt Verdun show, where I cover the whole league.

Well, appreciate the time.

Okay, we'll catch you down the line. Hey, thanks a lot. Take care. No doubt about it. Shoutouts to Matt Verduram for coming through to talk some NFL with us, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Man, when you got to move, Joe Tooney. And then throw him at the tackle from the guard position. Yeah, you know, things have gotten uh. Gotten real ugly there. For the Kansas City Chiefs.

Of course, as they continue to get older, it's not like they're going to get younger. You want to see how much you can get. Out of Patrick Mahomes. I mean, it's only been a few years since he was the young hot shot. And Patrick Mahomes already at this stage of his career.

He's getting ready. to turn thirty.

Next month.

Okay, I get it. He's the quarterback. We see quarterbacks out here now playing into their 40s. Thank you so much, Tom Brady. Thank you, Aaron Rodgers.

But you never know when you're going to get the chances and opportunities.

So you want to strike while the iron is hot. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN. 4-I-S-N. We come back.

I'll take a look at the phone lines. We'll talk about Cal Raleigh out here smashing all these home runs as a catcher. And then in New York City. I don't know what people were doing at the US Open. They were smashing, they were drinking, they were smoking, they were walking.

The US Open is uh an interesting tennis tournament, not like Wimbledon, okay, we'll get into that. And some wild things took place over the weekend. It's the JR Sport Reshow on the Infinity Sports Network, and right now it's time for a news flash with Rich Ackerman. 4ISN. Thank you so much to Matt Verdoram for joining us from SI Now to come through and talk some NFL. Trey Hendrickson getting his new contract. Terry McLaurin getting a deal. Jacoby Myers wants a trade.

It just. The only thing that we got left now It's Michael Parsons. That's it. And we'll talk about Micah at the top of the hour. A lot of people finding his behavior to be disrespectful.

And I'm saying to myself, Have have you heard some of the crazy things, Jerry Jones? has been out here saying. I think he's he's kind of pushing the limits too on disrespect. People think that Micah, in that game against the Falcons that he did not play in, that kind of lounging around, laying around, not standing up, looking at the action, was disrespectful to his teammates. We'll get into that.

At the top of the hour. 888-710-4ISN. Something else that took place over the weekend. We'll talk about Cal Riley in a second. Botcher, you you a big fan of the US Open.

You been out there? No, I I've been in the area. I've been mini golfing. around there. I've been to Mets games around there.

I've never actually been to the tournament. It's a it's a fun experience. But if that you you're in New York, you know New York City, Can be a little rowdy, right? I mean, you think about tennis. Kind of a gentleman sport.

You gotta clap Wimbledon, you gotta wear white. Think about the French Open and the Clay. You know, things that the judges are telling everybody to shush and be quiet. But when you get a bunch of drunk New Yorkers, to sit around and watch some tennis. Things can get kinda left.

And the US Open just got underway. And things are already already crazy. We've had a couple of instances Botcher, eh? When you walk the streets of New York City, do the streets smell like marijuana? Uh, not traditionally.

Depends where you are.

Well, yeah, it's a big-ass city. Yeah, depends on where you are. You can walk around and you can um. smell some some greenery.

Well We've already had some some players at the US Open in Queens. Who are saying that outside of all of the s food smells and the food court and whatnot. You got you can smell you can smell marijuana. In the background, and anybody, if you've seen the U.S. Open, yeah, there's a bunch of tennis courts.

You have the main court, the main stadium, the main stage, but it's almost like a village. And so you can have people who are just sitting outside, just kind of smoking their life away. And so you've had players complain about that. And then we saw a massive complaint. Daniil Medvedev was taken on Bonzi, a match of which he ultimately lost.

And we had a photographer. Who ended up wandering onto the court? Bonzi missed his serve, and then the judge gave him another one and and the fans were booing, Hey, the guy just missed, and you gonna give him another one because the guy walked out onto the court? And so Medvedev threw a fit for like six or seven minutes, because he's like, why is he get another serve? Screw the photographer You're not gonna give him another chance because of this knucklehead over here?

And so the poor photographer They're saying that he didn't follow rules and he didn't listen to the security and decided to still walk around. And of course, the photographer is now crying poverty because they've stricken and taken away his credential. It was just a massive, massive massive. Mess. Listen to Daniel Medvedev about the photographer just wandering onto the court in the back.

I was not upset with the photographer. I think nothing special. Every. Time, I'm sorry, something is dirty. Uh every time uh there is a sound from the stands uh between the serves uh there is ner never a second serve, but well That's healthy.

Get back into the match. Fun uh moment to uh to leave.

So uh was not upset with the photographer, was upset with the decision. Yeah, there's all types of stuff going on out there. This guy was breaking rackets and having a whole fit. This is what he had to say about his fit. What I say and what I do is not in my head.

I wanna Do worse. And I cannot because there are rules, because we're on a tennis court. And so I just uh express my emotions, my unhappiness with the the decision. And then the crowd did what they did without me without me asking them too much. Uh and it was fun to witness and honestly while leaving it I was like, you know what, it could be fun maybe to finish my career with one match at USOpen.

It's the end of your career? No, not today, but I mean, when I'm finishing my career, you know, you never know where you want to do it. And today I was like, This could be a nice place to do. Damn. Bacha, he said he wanted to what did he want to do worse?

What do you want to put a racket to the umpire's head? That's what it sounded like. He sounded like he wanted to physically assault the ref. Yeah. Oh damn, I mean He's like, oh, it's tennis, we can't do that.

Well, you can do it outside. I'm not giving him advice to go out there and do so. But he ended up losing a match. You heard he wasn't happy trying to pick up a U.S. Open victory, and Bonzi went out there and beat him.

And so Medvedev is gone. The photographer is gone, Bonsi lives to see another day, Wow, w wow, wow, wow stuff. Not a fact. Speaking of wild stuff, I told you about the uh the smells that permeate New York City We got people complaining this year. We've had complaints go back as far as last year because you can legally smoke a little bit of the green in New York City.

Listen to this report. from NBC4 last year. But while Rick Marsh was focusing on the aroma of his next meal, some are complaining about a new smell on the open grounds, the scent of cannabis. We smelled it yesterday. We smelled it yesterday.

These ladies from Virginia say the pot smell Tuesday was strong and didn't go away. I don't want to smell that. I'm not a cannabis user. Players Maria Saka Re and Alexander Zverev even noticed it during their matches this week here at Court 17. Court 17 definitely smelled like Snoop Dogg's living room.

And it's something that We cannot control because we're in an open space. There is a park behind. People can do whatever they want. Yeah. Welcome welcome to New York City.

Bancha, you can't smell it at a baseball game. Baseball stadium's too big, right? Uh it depends if it's in the stadium. That's the question. Have you smelled this at City Field?

Multiple times. What do you mean? No, you just I don't know. I'm asking you. I'm not there.

I don't know. At this point, I haven't been to Cityfield for a Mets game in I don't know how long a geek close to a year or a little months, maybe. I don't remember. Uh But at say every other time you either smell The weed pens? or physical weed.

If you go to a concert, you're more than likely going to smell marijuana. That's awesome. Concerts, a lot of concerts are outdoor. Wow, that's tough. No, I see here in Atlanta, it's it's It's not legal.

So I can go see the Braves. I'm not smelling nothing at the Braves Stadium. I'm not. You know, I can go to the arena here. I've been at Barclays.

I've smelled stuff inside the Barclays Center. That's inside. arena during a concert. I've never smelled anything inside of a state farm arena here in Atlanta, Georgia.

So, I mean, yeah, right, you're at a tennis center. It's one big old village. It's outdoors. I know they got a big giant roof on it. But most times it's uh So I was open.

You you gonna smell some things. You gonna smell some things.

So, yeah, a lot of people unhappy with the U. S. Open so far. I can tell you one guy who is happy. Congratulations to Cal Raleigh.

This guy hit his 48th and 49th home run. 49 home runs is now a record for catchers. If we go back five years, Salvador Perez hit 48 home runs in 2021. And it's pretty spectacular to see him doing this as a catcher. Uh matter of fact, uh this is what he had to say about breaking a record yesterday at home.

Yeah, I mean it's awesome. I mean obviously our fans are amazing and to do it here, uh obviously do it anywhere would be really special, but to do it here in front of the fans and to give them that and uh see the appreciation was was a really cool moment on top of obviously a really good game. Yeah, he he's been healthy. He's been behind the plate 98 games as a catcher. 30 times he's been the DH.

He's hit 10 home runs while on the field in the batters box as the designated hitter. They've only been nine catchers. In Major League Baseball history. to hit 40 home runs. He got thirty games left.

He's gonna go out there and and move past fifty. Who knows where he's gonna go if he hits a a real hot streak? But pretty amazing to see a catcher who these guys are just brutalized physically. But throughout the course of the season for him to do this is is pretty cool. Shout outs to Cal Raleigh.

Most catchers, mel most home runs ever. A by catcher. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We come back from break.

Well, damn it, we're gonna talk about Micah Parsons. That's another guy who was miserable over the weekend, and he wasn't at the U.S. Open. It's the chair of Sport Brief Show, Don't Move.
