It is the JR Sport Brief show on the Infinity Sports Network. Coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America.
East Coast, West Coast, down South, Midwest, mountains, plains, Canada, over the ocean, hello to Hawaii, what's up to Alaska. Somebody in a submarine, shout outs to people serving in the military, people holding it down, people protecting, people helping, first responders, people cooking, people drinking, people washing. Whatever you're doing, thank you for being here.
You might just be lounging on a Friday afternoon, on a Friday evening. Thank you for being here. Thank you so much to our producer Ryan Botcher in New York City. We got a lot to get into over the next two hours and we have already discussed a lot.
How about this, thank you so much to our guest Zach Ousterman. He came through and had a chat with us about the Indiana Pacers who decided to upset the Oklahoma City Thunder last night in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Hey, how about this, we're not too far away from the puck dropping in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers. They're trying to go up 2-0 against the Panthers.
And the Panthers, well, they're trying to avoid an 0-2 hole. So we discussed a lot, Jason Kidd might be the next head coach of the Knicks. The Knicks would have to trade for him. Giannis? The Knicks want Giannis? Of course, who doesn't want Giannis? And obviously the Pittsburgh Steelers, they wanted their man Aaron Rodgers and they got him. We talked about what this means for Kirk Cousins.
He's just going to have to stick around here in Atlanta for a little while longer. Hey, if you want to be a part of the show, you can. You can call me at any time. I feel like Ms. Cleo. If you remember Ms. Cleo, call me now. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me on the internet. I am there, like you are.
I am at JR Sport Brief. What a day, what a week. What a start to the weekend.
All of the things. As we continue on with the show, how about this? In about 20 minutes, we'll have a chat with Will Graves. Covers all things NFL. He's a national writer for the Associated Press, but he's based in Pittsburgh, PA, so we'll have a chat with him about Aaron Rodgers, what he means to the Steelers. I'll get his thoughts on Kirk Cousins and what comes next.
And Chador. There's just a lot to get into. So I look forward to having that conversation. Will Graves will be here with us in about 20 minutes. Next hour, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.
Apparently the NBA, they're getting closer and closer to expansion, which I guess is good. And right before the break, we talked about Tyrese Halliburton. Is this guy like one of the newest villains in the world of sports?
Is he the bad guy, the next bad guy? We'll talk about that in a second. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. And, you know, we started not thinking about people. Well, these are athletes.
But we started to think about individuals that are like really bad guys. Like I wouldn't put Tyrese Halliburton in this guy's category for nothing. Tyrese Halliburton has his own issues, namely his dad, or did. Botcher, I had mentioned an NFL player.
This man is, what were my two hints? He was beaten up and he played in the NFL. He was beaten up and he played in the NFL, okay.
Which kind of doesn't really help, but at the same time- It doesn't? Not really. Okay.
I'm assuming there's a lot of players that got beat up. Okay. He played for the Dallas Cowboys one time. Oh my. Okay. That doesn't help. No, I'm kind of young here.
Okay. Not that young. He played for the Carolina Panthers.
Those are the only two teams he played for in the NFL. He got beat up in a public forum and I enjoyed it. Ask a question.
Come on, help me out here so I can help you. I don't know who it is. What year? What year? What year? Like post-2000. Yeah, yeah, like over the past 10 years. Past 10 years?
Yeah, 10, 15 years, yeah. I don't remember this. It wasn't Dez Bryant, right? No, not Dez Bryant.
No, no, no, no. He played for the Panthers. He played for, the only two teams he played for in the NFL were the Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys. This guy, how about this? Post-NFL career, he's gotten beaten up and he deserved every time he got his ass whooped.
Oh my. How bad was this guy? It's Greg Hardy.
Didn't even ring a bell. Yeah, Greg Hardy. He got a, he had a domestic issue with the photos and the woman didn't want to, you know, be a part of the case and so the things got dropped. And then he eventually, he went into MMA and Greg Hardy is kind of, kind of nuts. He's had 12 fights. He hasn't had a fight since 2022. He went seven and five in MMA and his last three fights, I have loved every single one and I'm not sitting around watching. These are all UFC fights too, by the way.
He got knocked out in his last three fights. And he got arrested today, so. Yeah, was it yesterday or today? Oh, Wednesday.
Wednesday, uh huh, yeah. He's only 36 years old. They said he, well, this time he got arrested for putting his paws on a family member that I'm not going to speculate, I'm going to assume it was a partner. Like, can we just, can we just put him away, like for a long time? Or can we just put it, we should just put him, he needs to go back into the octagon and he just needs to get the snot beat out of him. Where's Jon Jones?
Get him out there. Right? Well, and don't they say, isn't they, aren't they saying Jon Jones is ducking the next, the next guy up right now? Maybe, I don't know, but Jon Jones is old, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Oh my God. What's old? He's 30. Both are a fighter. He's like, he's like in his mid thirties, isn't he? Yeah, Jon, no, he definitely is. He is.
Well, he, he's been inactive, but he's gained weight as he's gotten older competing in the heavyweight division. Jon Jones is 39. Oh, he's only 37. He's about to turn 38. Yeah. Wow.
He's had his own issues as, as well. Here's a quick story for you about you. You ready for this one about Jon Jones? I was in Louisiana, I don't know, a long time ago, but I was, it's more than a decade ago. I don't know.
Could be a while. There's a buddy of mine and we were talking about Rutgers earlier in the show. There's a buddy of mine who was a wrestler at Rutgers University and we were, this must, this was actually, this is in 2012. This was in 2012 because I remember Jon's brother, Arthur, one of them, he got, he got two brothers. One of them was playing in the Super Bowl.
I think it was for the, yeah, Arthur was playing for the Ravens. And so I ran into Jon Jones in a place on Bourbon Street and I was with my friend who's a wrestler and I know Jon Jones is a wrestler. My friend was a wrestler. My friend's name is also Jon. And so I called Jon Jones over and I looked at my friend. And I said, Jon, meet Jon. And we both looked up at Jon Jones because obviously he's basketball player height. And I told Jon Jones, I said, my friend Jon said he could kick your ass.
Oh Lord. Yeah, just Jon Jones just, he looked at me and he looked down at him and just kind of laughed. And my friend was just, ah, nah, nah, I didn't say that. Nobody got upset, but I know that my friend for a second there really did feel like, why did you tell this man that? And Jon Jones didn't take him seriously.
That's a good thing. Because my friend Jon, not Jon Jones, but my friend Jon is like five foot six. So I don't think six foot four Jon Jones would worry about my friend Jon who wrestled at Rutgers, even though he's kind of stocky, but he ain't no Jon Jones though. I know his heart sank immediately. What, when Jon looked down at him? Yeah, a hundred percent. You wouldn't be afraid for your life at that point?
No. And Jon Jones, Jon Jones, by the way, he was drinking at that time. He was drinking.
So yeah, you take something wrong, you're done. This is before we found out that Jon Jones was doing other things besides drinking. Yeah, I hope Jon is good. He's, let me tell you, fame will chew you up and spit you out. Ironically, this is why I felt comfortable making my friend sweat.
I met Jon Jones and his brother Arthur at the ESPYs a few years before that. And I'm just walking by, minding my business. I don't know where I am. I'm just walking around, right?
I'm not big like no damn athlete. And so they walk by me and they go, hey, I go, yeah, what's hey, how y'all doing? They go, you look familiar. And at this point, I'm like, what the hell are they talking about?
I know who they are, but what the hell they bothering me for, right? And Arthur goes, you're that guy on YouTube. And I go, yeah, yeah, that is me. And then Jon goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, that is him.
That is him. And I'm just saying to myself, wow, in what world? And I had to think in my head real fast.
Did I say something bad about Jon Jones on my YouTube channel that he's now going to say something to me? And I'm like, no, I didn't. And they were nice in that we just both went about our days.
So that's why I was able to kind of. OK, but that's a lot better if it was just a random encounter. Oh, you thought I just randomly. Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you randomly like just pulled up to him and was like, yeah, my friend can take you in a fight. No, no.
That would be a bad decision. No, Jon. No, both. No, both Johns know exactly who I am. One is my friend Jon and one is Jon Jones. Jon knows who I am. I haven't seen him in a long time, though. I don't know if I. What do I say to John if I see him? Hey, man, I've heard you've had some rough times out here, right? No, don't say that. No, be like house life.
House. Because he had a fight recently, didn't he? Like a year ago. Yeah, but they want him to fight this other guy. Who's the guy that they see? John Jones keeps on ducking and saying he don't want to smoke. I'm just like like you said, he's a little bit older now. What's the point of fighting everybody? Just you got a cherry pick when you get old.
You want to make the money work. Yes. Aspinall. Yeah, that's the one they say he's ducking, right? Yeah, but he fought steep a in November. Yeah.
Madison Square Garden. No, that was recent. So maybe he's getting back. But maybe he this article from it's MMA junkie says maybe that they might strip him of his title. Oh, well, for being inactive.
Yeah. And I don't think John Jones cares. I don't think he cares. Just over the past few years, John Jones fought last November. Before that, it was more than a year. March 2023. Before that, February 8th, 2020, he fought before the pandemic really shut the world down.
July 6th, 2019, March 2nd, 2019, December 2018. Yeah. Yeah. It's since we've been through COVID, John Jones said, I'm done. Yeah.
He's about to be 38 years old. Let me tell you, there's nothing worse than an MMA fighter. It's nothing worse than any fighter who just fights too long. Like why?
I get it. You know, Manny Pacquiao was getting ready to fight again. Did you hear about that? I did.
It's absurd. He has. He must.
He must owe the IRS in the Philippines. He's going to get messed up, not again. He's getting. Who's he getting ready to fight again? I don't know if it's a, I think it's a champion too.
So he's fighting somebody probably probably going years younger than normal. Who is he? What? Let's see.
I'm Mario Barrios. Oh my God. Yeah. Mario Barrios is going to whoop that man's Manny Pacquiao.
Is there not a care in the world about his brain cells? Nope. And that go ahead. Basha. What? No. Money is money. And that talks.
He got to, he got to pay the tax man. This is actually even crazier. I think I was at Manny Pacquiao's last fight in Vegas. Was it Keith Thurman? He fought.
Got to look it up, but I don't know why it's a title shot. You know? Oh my God.
No, no. He fought. Oh gosh. No, I don't think I was there for that one.
2021. I didn't see that. No, I was there for his last victory.
Oh my God. This was July 20th, 2019. He beat Keith Thurman. He was 40 years old.
I remember this fight because there was a gentleman in front of me who did not shut up the whole time. He was in the media and he was just, you know, they teach you to be impartial when you're in the media. Right?
Supposed to be quiet actually in the press, press booth. Aren't you? Not when you're from the Philippines. No, no, no.
Not when you're from the Philippines that you, I felt like I was in the Manny Pacquiao section. Okay. Wow. Not a bad thing. It's kind of cool.
Oh, it was, it's fun. I'm, I'm, I'm here to watch people get beat up. They getting paid to get beat up. They want to get beat up.
Good. I don't want to see fights on the street. I don't want to see stuff like that. I don't want to see children and young people fight. I don't want to see nobody fight, but boxing MMA signed me up for it. If other people want to get paid to fight and get punched in the head, that that's, that's their business.
Good for them. They ain't got nothing to do with me. My fighting days are over. If you see me fighting, know it's in a self-defense.
I'd like for what? I'm not no prize fighter. I'm making a couple of hundred. I'm not making a couple of mill by getting in a fight. You going to do something? Get paid to do it.
Okay. Just don't be Greg Hardy. Let's set that fight up. Greg Hardy versus John Jones.
I pay to see that one and I pay to see Greg Hardy get eviscerated too. It's the JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. Come back, I don't know if this guy counts as a bad guy.
He is certainly an arrogant guy. We're going to talk about Aaron Rogers on the other side of the break. Joining us is Will Graves from the associated press, national NFL writer based in Pittsburgh.
We'll get his thoughts on Rogers, the Steelers, and a lot of other things going on across the league. It's the JR sport reshow, the infinity sports network. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We got the NHL Stanley cup finals going on right now. We got the NBA finals underway. We're in the midst of the major league baseball season and the NFL still finds a way as always to dominate the news.
Of course, there's always going to be a story here or there. Yesterday, it was Aaron Rogers on his way officially to the Steelers on a one year deal. Obviously, his contract has ramifications for another quarterback. We have some other young quarterbacks who are dealing with injuries.
We have players who want contracts. There's just so much going on. To talk about it all is someone who covers the NFL nationally for the associated press. He's based out of Pittsburgh. It's Will Graves. Will, how are you?
I am good, man. I'm glad that this Aaron Rogers hostage situation is finally over. Hostage situation. So knowing what we've seen over the past, I guess, five years, it feels like with Aaron Rogers. No, we just saw the last two with the New York Jets. How the heck is this going to go between Rogers and Tomlin? Are we going to get Pat McAfee every Tuesday?
How's this going to work? Well, I mean, I think it's going to work the way that it's kind of worked for the Steelers, you know, from a performance standpoint, the last really since 2019, the year that Ben got hurt and they kind of made do with Mason Rudolph and duck Hodges. I mean, I think he's, you know, he's the best option available. But is he at 41 to be 42 by the end of the season, by the time, essentially the playoff start? Is he the guy that's going to be Joe burrow or Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen? You know, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, I mean, he's any more, does he give you any more chance than, you know, Russell Wilson did last year?
Mason Rudolph did the year before that Ben did in his final season. I mean, it's really hard to, to kind of make that leap. And so while, you know, you have to give credit to the Steelers because they're sort of always going for it, um, at least in Italy as best they can, it also just, you know, it doesn't make a ton of, I mean, you know, candidly, it doesn't make a ton of sense for me. Like I, you know, I've been covering this thing for 14 years and you know, they keep kind of, I asked Mike and in January after they lost the Ravens, do you feel like you guys are stuck?
And he said, no, I'm not, we don't, I don't think we're stuck because tuck considers hopeless. You know, I liken to hopelessness and I'm not saying the Steelers are hopeless, but they are definitely stuck. I mean, they have blundered their way into sort of this situation and you know, and maybe look, maybe they have a plan and maybe the plan is no matter what happens next year, you know, uh, or this season, you know, the draftsman Pittsburgh next year, the quarterback rich draft, and we will do whatever we have to do regardless of where we're at in the draft, initial draft order to kind of get the guy that we need. Maybe that is the plan, but they haven't shared it with anybody and it just sort of is very curious.
Um, it's very curious decision, you know, sort of that they made to kind of kind of keep running in place, which is certainly seems what's going to happen here in 2025. Well it'll, it'll certainly be an interesting season week after week after week. Will Graves is joining us here from the AP. Well now that Aaron Rodgers is going to be a Steeler officially, what the heck does this mean for Kirk Cousins? Do you think he's going to get moved somewhere else? He got to wait for a guy to get hurt in training camp the regular season.
How long do you think this is going to go on? Um, well I mean the fact that they ate the money to kind of keep them kind of, you know, tells you at least in the short term, the Falcons are sort of invested in maybe getting the right offer and for, for Kirk. Um, yeah, I mean, I think, look, uh, guys do get hurt all the time, you know, somebody could turn a knee week two of the preseason and then all of a sudden there's a, there's a need for on a team that's like ready to compete.
There's a need for a guy that's, you know, still can swing it a little bit. I mean, obviously, you know, his limitations are what they are at this point in his career and um, you know, kind of humbling in the way that it ended, uh, in Atlanta to be, to be very clear. Let's be honest and this deal in the first place, everybody, everybody except Kirk cousins and Arthur blank were like, what? You guys did what?
So like, I don't feel that bad for him. The guys made a lot of money to not win in the playoffs. Um, you know, but I would imagine, you know, the Falcons are a no show, no sense of urgency unless they have a need where one of their, one of their position, one of their skill position guys gets hurt and one of their defensive starters gets hurt and maybe they find his situation amenable to is flipping Kirk, but um, I, I just don't see that being resolved in short order at the very least. Well, when you think about another team here with us, well, they, they got plenty of quarterback options that happens to be the Cleveland Browns. What do you think that pecking order is going to look like? I'm saying we'll see Chador at some point and I don't know, October, I don't know. What are your thoughts on how that's going to shake out? Uh, I mean, your guess is as good as mine.
I mean it, you know, but obviously, you know, there's that running joke, you see it on Twitter every time. Um, then, you know, a new guy comes in under center for them and you know, the, the quarterbacks and they came back in the league in 99 and it's that, it's that Jersey that's miles long at this point. And it seems like they, they, they're going into this season and 10 on doubling that number seems, uh, in 2025. I mean, it's, uh, you know, I think that, you know, picket will get, I think everybody will get a shot. I mean, uh, Chador, I think it's going to depend a on his development and B on how the season goes.
May look, Stefanski is a, is a bright guy, a smart guy, and you know, he can certainly find, I think is there, there a chance that he finds packages for Chador? I mean, I certainly think that there's a chance, but I mean, I think that, you know, I, I think that they expect to be pretty competitive if their defense, you know, sort of looks like the defense that it's been, uh, of late, right? So I don't think they're going to like, they wouldn't turn to Chador if he, assuming he cracks that top three, uh, at the end of the preseason, unless sort of the season gets away from them or the guys in front of him get hurt.
I mean, I, there isn't the other guys on that roster kind of give them some wiggle room. Um, and then the other thing that happens too is like, we don't know how it's going to go in the preseason. Maybe Chador shows up, puts in the work, uh, his dad's quiet and nobody like, and it's fine. Or maybe Chador shows up, puts in the work and his dad is like, how come my kid isn't getting a shot? And maybe the Browns are like, wait a minute, is this what we signed up for? And maybe they find somebody else to take them. I mean, I certainly think that, I mean, like when it comes to the Browns and their quarterbacks, literally everything is on the table. Yeah.
Well, damn it. They got four and another one just sitting around and rehab is just a wild situation in Cleveland. Will Graves is joining us, a national NFL writer for the associated press. You know, they actually have warm bodies who can practice just this week alone. Anthony Richardson is dealing with the same shoulder issue that he had busted up in 2023. We got CJ Stroud, who has his own history of shoulder issues dating back to college. He also can't practice here at voluntary workouts, uh, cause for concern in Houston. Anthony Richardson seems like a foregone conclusion, but, uh, any real concerns with Stroud? Well, I think, you know, look, when you, shoulders, uh, pretty important, pretty important muscle if your job is to throw something for a living, right. Whether you're a baseball player, football player, um, you know, I tend to find that stuff this time of year is, um, overblown, but then, you know, sometimes things sort of, uh, you know, there's real, you know, there's, as Mike Tom, I like to say, there's real meat on that bone. Right. Uh, I, the Texans should be very, very, very, very cautious with Stroud. There's no reason in June to kind of see what he got, what he's got. He's your guy, uh, presuming he's healthy. Um, I'm sure that, and I'm sure that that's what they're thinking. Um, you know, let's just be safe here, but you know, look, I mean, look, I was in 2019 Ben Roethlisberger's elbow just kind of blew up in the middle of the second game against the Seahawks.
Right. I mean, I've been obviously much older than different place in his career than when CJ is that now, but sometimes with these shoulders, you know, you have to wonder like how many throws, you know, how much stress can this arm take? So, um, over time, like the injury rate is a hundred percent if you're in the NFL at some point. So I certainly think there's no need for the Texans to rush CJ. Um, but like if we get back, like, you know, my thing would be like, if we get to like week two of the preseason and for some reason he's not out there for precautionary reasons or whatever, that's the point where you get kind of like, you kind of go, Oh, but in June, you know, I think to your, to your point, the NFL always finds a way to kind of sneak into the storylines.
And I think this is just sort of one of them at this point. Oh man, that's, that's all due to injury as we head into real training camp next month, Trey Hendrickson still looking for a contract. Michael Parsons, we know the Dallas Cowboys like to kind of bleed everything out until the last minute with both their players and their coaches. Do you think Trey is going to stick around with the Bengals and how long is it going to take for Mike to get his deal?
Michael will get paid. I've no doubt about that. Trey, I mean, it's, you know, the Bengals seem to be committed and I actually, I commend them for this, uh, to sort of, you know what, we are who we are and we're going to try to win every game 52 45. Right. And that just seems to be, you know, like the, you know, they've got the guys on offense to do it. Right. I mean, but the problem is when you got three guys eating up so much of the cap, that doesn't leave a lot of leaves a little less for everybody else.
And Henderson certainly, I mean, obviously a career year last year, but it was sort of, and he's been a good player since he's been in the league, but this isn't like a TJ watt miles Garrett situation where you, when the contract time comes up, you have this lengthy track record of being sack leaders, defensive player of the year, all pro. Right. So that's sort of the calculus that the Bengals are going to do. And what let's be honest, I mean, the Bengals, you know, not known for splurging, uh, defensively in general. Right.
I mean, that's just not something that they they've ever done. So I think that Trey is, you know, I think he'll find his way onto the field, but I think, you know, it will be a situation where, you know, he's going to have to decide, you know, is it, is it worth the, like, is it worth the risk for him? Right.
Like it is playing on it. If he ends up playing on, on, on a one year on a one year, you know, the final year of his contract with no guarantees for the future, is it worth the risk? I mean, Le'Veon Bell, the Steelers franchise tagged him a second time and he, and Lev never showed up that year. Right.
Like never showed up. Like, this is an apples to apples, but Lev never got that money back. Right. I mean, he got paid by the jets, but that 15 million, he didn't get, cause he never showed up in 18.
Like he never got that money back. Right. So it's a, it's a tight spot, but I think the Bengals have sort of made their choice and you know, they said, we're going to pay T Higgins and we're going to pay Jamar chase and you know, we'll just kind of hope that, uh, you know, we can make do, you know, we can get three stops a game and have a chance to win that way. So I mean, Trey's a great player, but I, it seems to me that like the calculus the Bengals are making is like, they're willing to risk not having him in order to make sure that their guys on offense get paid.
Yeah. That's a massive gamble for a cheapskate organization. Will last question for you, speaking of gambling, we've seen quite a few adjustments and losses from the lines, not just at the hands of Washington last year, Glen is gone. Ben Johnson is gone.
And I'm on Rob had a clean up things. Things are different with the lines. Do you see them taking a step back or they still going to be at the top of the top of the NFC alongside teams like obviously the super bowl champion Eagles? Um, not, I still think they, you know, have the most talent in the division.
Um, but I think we'll see how that mean. Look, Ben Johnson's got new toys in Chicago, right? So we will see if, you know, Caleb Williams can kind of, and you know, Roma doons, the I can kind of sort of get, you know, if he can create, retreat the magic that he created with Jared golf and, and I'm in Iran, the other, and the guys in Detroit, I mean, I, I think Detroit has, I don't think what Dan Campbell and the organization have done in the last few years is a mirage. I think that there is real staying power there. I think it's not reliant. I mean, look, you know, Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, two really, really, really good coordinators, but I think they're, and this is, it's sort of funny to say this about the lines, right?
Because like, you know, look, I'm 50 years old, right? Like they're still sort of the line, like you think of them as sort of the line, but I mean, it seems that they have turned a corner organizationally, so I expect them to be good, but I think, you know, you're not, no, you don't know what you're going to go with the Vikings with McCarthy at, you know, JJ McCarthy back there now, I don't think they're going to be, you know, they're not going to go 14 and three, but I would expect the Packers to be better. I would expect the bears to be better.
I think the lions are certainly a playoff team and at the moment still the class of the division, but I do think the gap has a, and as, as is the nature of the NFL, I think the gap, you know, has narrowed a little bit. Yeah. We're all here for a little bit of, a little bit of parody, but we'll thank you so much for the time. Please tell everybody where they can keep up with you, your writings, your work with the AP and more, uh, please, uh, go to AP news.com. That's our great, uh, digital website. We also have an app and you know, Google, uh, you find me on Twitter at will graves AP. I think it's the same on blue sky and I really appreciate the time Jr. No doubt.
We'll, we'll catch you on down the line. All right. All right. Take care. No doubt about it. Yeah. He's going to have a lot of fun in Pittsburgh.
Okay. Every week, every three days is going to be a new story about Aaron Rogers and then Mike Tomlin is going to have to respond to this guy through the media. This is going to be an interesting one. We're going to find out how much Aaron Rogers really respects Mike Tomlin. I mean, we were talking about villains earlier. You want to tell me that Aaron Rogers is not one of these villains. We'll talk about him on the other side. Talk about Halliburton.
See, Halliburton's not in the space of Aaron Rogers or maybe, maybe his dad helps put him in a space of being in a villain. I don't know. We'll get into that on the other side of the break, but right now, game one of the Stanley or excuse me, game two of the Stanley cup finals is underway and we already have a score to learn what it is and to learn about everything going on in the world of sports. It's time for a news flash with rich Ackerman. You're listening to the JR sport brief.
The JR sport brief show here with you on the infinity sports network. Thank you so much to will graves for joining us in the last break covers all things NFL coast to coast for the associated press specifically talked about the Steelers, man, you want to talk about coast to coast and in just a matter of minutes, the Edmondson Oilers have gone coast to coast. They have done it twice. They put the puck in the back of the net twice and just like that, the Florida Panthers had a one nothing lead. The Florida Panthers are now down to one to the Edmondson Oilers. It looks like we're in for another game that is just full of nothing but scoring. We're not even halfway through the first period. We got three goals on the board. Edmondson leads two to one as they attempt to take a two to nothing lead here in game two of the Stanley cup finals. We'll keep you up to date as we continue on. This game is certainly going to end by the time we have a hell of one out of here. So we'll keep you up to date as the night goes on. How about this? This is a great opportunity as well to give you this NASCAR race preview sponsored by Weather Guard Truck and Van Equipment. They're just as driven as the hardworking pros they serve. Let me tell you, this upcoming Sunday, Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, Michigan.
I have some fond memories out there, some of which I cannot remember. It goes down Sunday. What's the event? The Fire Keepers Casino 400. It's the NASCAR Cup Series. Kyle Larson is your favorite at plus 500 to go out there and win it all. Yeah.
Sunday, June 8th. I can't believe they're already at Michigan. This is a big time race because it's taking place in Michigan. It's like the home of the U.S. auto industry.
We got Chevy is out there. It's a big deal. Have you ever been to a NASCAR race before, Botcher? I went once when I was like six years old and it was very loud, of course, as it usually is, but I got scared of a clown they had at the race and it was not good for my family and I. Was it a clown or a drunk? No, no, it was an actual clown like wearing face paint.
Well, that sounds like a lot of fans too, but you know what I mean? It was an actual clown by doing balloons and whatnot just was not pleasing. Are you still afraid of clowns?
No, not at all. It was just that one time. It was just ugh. What location was this? Where were you? I don't know. I remember the exact location. It might have been Florida. Oh, wow.
Maybe. I don't remember. I was that young where it scarred me that bad I didn't remember where it was. You got to go back as an adult, man.
You got to go experience it as an adult. I saw there's a Busch light car for their Apple edition. The Bapple is what the kids are calling it.
Excuse me? Bapple? Busch light Apple?
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Busch light is selling flavored beer. Yes, it's Apple flavored and it's a limited edition. Oh, you're making me want to. Apple flavored beer. Well, yeah. The angry orchards basically Apple flavored beer.
I don't drink that. What are we doing, man? I don't know. It's a big trend in college.
What's a big trend? What? The flavor. The flavored bushel at Busch light. That's not a beer though. That's juice.
Not really. If it still has the thickness and whatever it is of the beer. Is beer supposed to be sweet like that? No, not at all. But this is the way to get the kids to buy it.
The drink beer. I read a terrible, terrible, terrible story today, actually. This is an awful story about a school teacher who and we're at the end of the school year. Some schools have let out depending on where you live. But there was a gym teacher who, you know, classes have end of year parties for the kids.
You have pizza and stuff, whatever. I don't know how old these kids were. I'm going to assume they were middle school, primary school age, maybe not primary school. But the teacher went and got snacks. He accidentally served the kids beer.
There's no accidentally doing that. It was it was apparently the packaging for the beer. Looked like it was for kids. It was like Mountain Mountain Dew has it's not do have alcohol.
Am I making that up? They might actually I know there's Arizona hard iced tea. He bought he thought he was picking up regular Mountain Dew.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They have hard Mountain Dew. What a world we live in. I didn't know they had hard Mountain Dew until I read this story today. I got to try that out. And so apparently this man, he brought hard Mountain Dew to the students.
And of course, some of the students, let's just say, their parents were not thrilled about this. Okay. Well, I can tell. Well, to be fair, this can is very intimidating. It doesn't look like a traditional Mountain Dew can. I mean, Mountain Dew cans look they all look the same, man.
Come on. Yeah, but this has like a shark, a silverback, a hawk and a tiger on it. Something that you'd serve to kids. I don't know why this like all these animals. You throw an animal in a cartoon looking anything on something. It's all for kids. That's it.
That's true. It's not like they threw baby shark on a on a can of beer and he accident. You know, this is it's colorful, you know, it's colorful, but it's different. So if you were to if you were to see this and be like, yeah, this doesn't look like any other Mountain Dew can I've ever seen in my life.
I'm going to buy this. Also, where did he get these snacks? They put the alcohol with the alcohol and the non-alcoholic beverages with the non-alcoholic beverages. Maybe he bought some for himself and he bought a bunch of juice and he accidentally served the kids.
I don't know. Or he just brought beer in. Why would somebody buy, essentially buy alcohol for kids at a school? He's bad at his job.
Really, really wanted to get out of the school department. He couldn't just make a mistake and accidentally serve the kids beer? It's too big of a mistake to accidentally buy beer at the supermarket that looks like it's sold for kids and then bring it in after not reading it. Yeah, I think so. Hey, maybe he was in a rush. I feel of. Yeah, I feel for the guy.
He's like, I'm doing a good thing. I'm going to the school has tasked me with buying some of the drinks for the students. I mean, what's the difference between a hard Mountain Dew and a Sunny Delight?
You know, like what do I know? The five point one percent alcohol content. Yeah, which is fine print.
You got to look for that percentage on the on the it's not like you buy a beer and the first thing right on the front says, hey, this beer is five point one ABV or ten point five. It ain't nobody. You got to look for that outside of that.
This the packaging that they're selling. It's true. I say give this gentleman a raise. No, not a raise. No, not that. No, no, no, no, no, no.
I'm not an advocate for serving alcohol to individuals who are underage. Not at all. I honestly think and what do I know?
I don't know. I think it was an honest mistake. It was honest mistake unless and only reason it's not as if this guy was just he was trying to get one over like some sixth science experiment, right?
Like I wonder if I can give the kids beer and then say it was a mistake and just see how the kids react. Now that's a sicko. He deserves to be locked up. Did we find out what he taught? Could he have been a science teacher? He was a special education teacher. Oh, OK.
I was not even. Yeah. Well, no, he didn't do that then. He did that. He's a terrible person.
If he did what gave him alcohol intentionally. Well, there's a lot of terrible people out here. Wouldn't you agree?
Yeah, but that pushes it. That's a new level of evil. How many times how many times week to week have you actually, you know, accidentally stumbled upon something on the Internet about some sick freak who's keeping two kids in a room for like five years with a glass of water like like this some weird I had to watch my words. There's some weird people out here doing some sick things.
Yeah. But so we talked about evil people kind of have morals. Some of them are like, well, yeah, the Joker.
Well, yeah, but I want to say this guy's the Joker. But I don't think he intentionally, you know, hopefully didn't give these. I think he intentionally served alcohol to these kids. Excuse me, unintentionally. I think it was an accident. Accidents. I know the world we live in, but accidents. They do happen. OK. Accidents.
They do happen. Just make don't make them again. Don't don't serve kids alcohol in the. In school.
Don't do that. But when I was in school, I think I'm saying too much when I was in high school, Badger, we would have we would drink during lunchtime. But, yeah, I was strict.
My high school was strict. You get the ruler, basically vodka and orange juice at lunchtime. Badger. That's yeah. Yeah.
New York City public school system. There you have it. Yeah. Yeah. But vodka and orange juice, you end up like me.
Not too bad. I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I learned early about that anyway. Don't be like me and don't be like the guy who served alcohol to the kids in school.
Don't don't do that. Just pay attention to what you're serving your kids to eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. That's eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. We're going to take a break. When we come back.
Oh, my goodness. Another goal has been scored here in the Stanley Cup finals. They are just going goal for goal. You would think they were out here just in a shootout. I'm going to give you an update on what's going on in Edmonton between the Oilers and the Panthers. We'll talk about some bad guys, maybe a good guy, a few things that took place this day in sports history. You're locked in. It's the J.R. Brief Show, the Infinity Sports Network.
