It is! The JR Sportbrief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.

Much love and many thanks to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. I hope you're well. I hope you're great.

I hope you are amazing. I'll be hanging out with you for the next four hours. This is when we get started. 6pm Eastern, 3 Pacific. And what a day, what an afternoon, what an evening, what a show that we have planned.

It really doesn't matter where you live or what you're doing. I'm going to be here. We're going to talk about Jalen Ramsey. Yeah, the cornerback from the Miami Dolphins. Apparently, he doesn't want to be a dolphin. And the Dolphins don't want him.

They're looking for a trade. Zion Williamson, big shocker to anybody or nobody. Zion Williamson, maybe he'll be traded from New Orleans. Or maybe Joe Dumars, if and when he takes over the Pelicans, he will go ahead and set him straight. Speaking of cornerbacks not named Jalen Ramsey, apparently Travis Hunter, he is ready to retire. If he can't play both offense and defense, we'll get into that.

We'll talk more Colorado. We got into it last night. Both he and Chidor will have their numbers retired. People are mad that Cordell Stewart seems like he has to wait. It's a big day in baseball. Damn it, it's a big day in American history. Today is Jackie Robinson Day. We're going to get into that.

And how about this? It's going to be a big month here in the United States of America in June and July. We're going to have the FIFA Club World Cup take place here in the United States of America. And today we're going to have a chat with the president of FIFA. Oh, he's a big deal. He's like Roger Goodell and Adam Silver and everybody else all rolled into one. He's a big deal.

President Gianni Infantino is going to join us later on in the show. So do you like kicking a ball or hitting a ball or throwing a ball? We got you covered.

OK. And then, of course, tonight, if you like shooting a ball, the NBA playing tournament starts tonight. You want to be a part of the show? It's simple. Here's the phone number. 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me online everywhere at JR Sport Brief. Thank you so much to our producer helping to hold things down today. Nico Scarlatos. Hey, Nico, how you doing? You good?

Yes, sir. Ready to roll? How are you? I'm good. You know, nobody is trading me. I'm still here. I'm not I'm not overweight like Zion. I'm not in the news like Zion. I'm not trying to get traded like Jalen Ramsey.

I would take all of these guys money, but all things considered. I'm good. How you been, Nico? I feel like it's been I don't know. The last time we were here was the last time you were here with us.

I don't know. Yeah, it's been a minute. I'm excited to be back here working with you on the show today. Well, I'm excited as well.

So we got a lot to get into everything from the Colorado buffaloes to the draft and get into Jalen Ramsey. We'll have that great chat with Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA. We'll talk about Zion. Oh, how could I forget about this today? The general manager of the Dallas Mavericks spoke the other the other Nico, not you, Nico. The one that people want to fire. OK, not you, Nico Harrison.

He spoke to the media today. And this is hilarious. I guess now it's time for the Dallas Mavericks to run. It's time for them to hide.

It's time for them to just see why a cover your backside. Not exactly. But you know exactly what I'm saying. Nico Harrison basically said.

I did what I did in trading. Luca, I don't got no regrets. He didn't want a camera in the press conference room.

He didn't want any recording equipment in the like. What is this? This is twenty twenty five. Like you're going to have a press conference.

You just don't talk to the press and they got to sit down and take like what are we doing? You be in a punk now. But we'll we'll get into that later on in the show. Nico, I know you said you're excited. I'm happy to have you back here.

He's a better question. Nico, are you excited for the NBA playing games? Have you seen what the schedule looks like? Yeah, it's going to be a very exciting week in the association with two awesome games tonight.

I'm ready to go. You Atlanta, you're you're excited about the Hawks and the Orlando Magic. You're excited about that. Yeah.

I mean, I'm the type that's always on the side of all you got to do is get in and you never know if you can get hot. So I'd like to see what these teams can bring to the table tonight. You never know.

You are more optimistic than I am. Here's here's a few words, Nico. I got to sit down and watch the Atlanta Hawks. OK, I sit down and watch them in person. I've seen more Hawks basketball over the past bunch of years and I don't know what.

OK. I got to watch them. The Atlanta Hawks are Trae Young and a bunch of guys. It's him, Zachary Rissachay, the gentleman selected number one in the draft last year coming out of Paris, France.

And it's just a bunch of other guys like it might be me and you on the floor with Trae Young and Rissachay. We don't know. And so I can tell you, as a Hawks supporter and a fan and a friend of the organization, they treat me very nice and I appreciate it. This there's nothing pretty that's going to come out of this.

There's nothing. There's no run for the Atlanta Hawks. And so, yeah, the play in starts tonight in the NBA. And the first game is going to take place in about 90 minutes. Now we have Atlanta at Orlando. Whoever wins this game, they will have the chance or they won't have the chance or the opportunity. They will move on and they'll take on the Boston Celtics. Now, that's it's not a prize that anybody wants.

This is why you play the games and then ultimately you get eliminated. So whoever's playing or whoever wins tonight, they don't get smacked by the Celtics. I don't care how healthy or not healthy or healthy Jalen Williams happens to be. A matter of fact, let's listen to Trae Young. He describes the Hawks mindset. They're used to this about the fourth damn time they've been to this plan.

This is what Trae Young had to say about their mindset. We know we have two games at it, but we want to get in, get in after the first game. So we don't want to just wait to play another playing game here. We want to play game three and four here. So that's my mindset. And hopefully we can go out and execute it. Oh, boy. Good luck.

Good luck. And he's correct. If well, not if whoever loses this game tonight, they got to play another miserable game at the end of the week. On Friday, between Miami and Chicago. And so if the Hawks lose tonight, they will have another chance to get their behind smoked. And so we'll wait and see miserable games.

And then also, how about this game? This is a good one tonight because the West is better than the East. You got the Memphis Grizzlies taking on the Golden State Warriors. We all know the story about the Golden State Warriors.

They got Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and then the Memphis Grizzlies got the basketball player who thinks he's in a you know, I don't know. He thinks he's in a movie. He thinks he's Rambo. He thinks he's Arnold Schwarzenegger. He thinks he's I don't know.

He thinks he's in a Call of Duty video game and John Moran. That will be a good one tonight. And let's be real. People want to see Steph Curry play basketball. People want to see what Steph Curry can do in the playoffs.

They want to know what a 37 year old future Hall of Famer can do with. I don't know what the heck we call Jimmy Butler, a whining complainer, and then a podcaster basically picking up Steph Curry's bags all these years and Draymond Green. This is going to be a good one.

And Steph Curry, he talked about tonight's game and he said, you know what? Yeah, we're in the plan. No, it's not ideal, but we got to stay positive throughout the whole thing. You have to take the positives of where we were two months ago and know our season isn't over. So we would love to have taken advantage of these last four games. And you look at that San Antonio game as one that was a tough, tough beat.

But you have to be able to wash it down the drain quick, man. Since they got Jimmy Butler. I want to see how far that they can go.

I mean, it'd be a disappointment if they don't advance. OK, we we need the NBA, the playoffs we need. And Steph Curry. OK, tomorrow night, we have Dallas and Sacramento. That's the terrible, awful game that we have in the West and nobody itching to see that. I don't even think the fans in Dallas, they care about the Mavs and the fans in Sacramento probably don't even know who their head coach is.

And I mean, that's even kind of the case tonight. Taylor Jenkins was let go by the Memphis Grizzlies. They gave him the boot and they got a new head coach who's the interim to all mass.

Yes, Salo. I never heard of this guy until he got the job last week. I'm sure most people they did not. And he's going to take on Steph Curry and he's going to try to advance into the postseason.

I don't know anybody who's rooting for the Grizzlies outside of Memphis. Let's be real. And yes, Salo, he basically said, yeah, I just got here. I fell out of the sky. I got this new job.

I'm trying to make the most of it. This is what he said. The play ins. The tough part about that is you don't get a you don't get a second chance. You know, you get you get one game and then if you lose that, you have a second game, but you don't get the same opponent twice. So you want to make it count. And that's how we've approached every practice that there's no tomorrow.

We do what we can today and then go day by day. Exciting, exciting, exciting. He said, Nico, he sounds exciting about his job, right? Does he sound excited or miserable? I can sense the sarcasm in that comment.

He sounds. Listen, that guy's like, man, they're going to fire me in two weeks or I may be here next year. Memphis is just a whole complete crap show, unfortunately. And so tonight, prepare yourselves. The NBA plan starts tonight, continues tomorrow. We get the last set of bum loser teams that kind of scratch their way in on on Friday. It'd be a shame if we don't see the Golden State Warriors. It'd be a shame, I believe, if we don't see the Orlando Magic.

And let's just be real. Whoever else gets in, nobody cares. Dallas, who cares? Sacramento, who cares? Chicago, who cares? Miami, who cares?

Nobody. You know, matter of fact, all four teams who are playing tonight, those should be the teams that advance into the postseason. And outside of that, maybe by the time we get to the summer, a guy like John Morant will be traded.

I don't know, to Siberia. Maybe he'll learn how to play basketball and act like a decent human being, you know, in the cold tundra somewhere. We got a lot to get into, but I'm looking forward to the real playoffs starting. I want to see what the Clippers do with the Denver Nuggets. Those will be some great matchups that we'll see come summertime.

We have to wait. Speaking of summer, something else that we have to wait and see. Yeah, we'll get into the NFL draft.

Thank God that's only next week. With all the movement that we've already had here in the NBA offseason, or post-regular season, I should call it. It ain't the offseason.

For some it is. So, I mean, some guys, it's been an offseason for a long time. Pretty sad to see Coach Bootenholz are fired yesterday by the Suns. Pretty bad and sad to see David Griffin fired as vice president of the New Orleans Pelicans. And it didn't take long for us to start hearing, you know, certain rumors that, I don't know, maybe the Suns will add a Fisdale to the bench.

It didn't take long, and this makes a lot of sense, you tell me. It didn't take long to start hearing rumors about Zion Williamson and whether or not he's going to be sticking around in New Orleans. It's been reported that Zion might be on the move, or that Joe Dumars is going to sit him down in Sudden Strait.

I don't know if this is a fat camp intervention. That's exactly what Zion Williamson needs. Think about a young man. Yeah, young man, this guy's 24 years old. This man played in 30 games this year. Come on, man.

Like, what are we doing? He's only played in, he's been in the league since 2019. Let me say that again. It is 2025. Zion Williamson has been in the NBA since 2019. He has played more than 30 games twice. That's it. That's a lot of time rehabbing, hamstring injuries, and I don't know, maybe he's getting tummy tucks.

I don't know. He's getting tattoos and people are making fun of his belly on social media. I don't know what Zion is doing. He ain't playing basketball.

And so he basically caused David Griffin his job. And so now we hear that Zion might be on the move. And so if you're asking me, as he gets older, he turns 25 and 26, and I believe his contract is no longer guaranteed because he's been too fat. That's not a joke.

That's a reality. The Pelicans are going to trade him. They're not going to be able to get a good return on him because nobody knows if he's ever going to be healthy enough to play. And watch Zion look like a star somewhere else, the star that people expected, or maybe Joe Dumas sits him down on the first day and says, bro, you're too fat. Like, you're either going to ship up or we are going to ship you out. And maybe that's what Zion wants.

I feel bad for my wonderful friends and family and all my wonderful people down in New Orleans, Louisiana. Anthony Davis. He wanted out. Boo hoo.

I need to go to L.A. Immediately after that, you get a transcendent player. This guy's a bowling ball. He wasn't always fat. He was strong and young. Stop there. He was a freak. And then we found out that he's in Louisiana. He likes to eat. He likes to get into other things. If you get my drift, there's a lot of things as Zion has gotten into that he has no business getting into.

And it's not just po boys. OK. The Pelicans and their fans deserve better. The city deserves better. Move on from Zion. Get somebody into Louisiana that wants to be there.

Yeah, not everybody's going to be arch man. You know, Drew Brees and what have you. New Orleans can do better. The J.R. sport show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We got a lot to do, a lot to discuss.

A matter of fact, we're going to get ready to take a break when we come back on the other side. We're going to talk about somebody in the NFL apparently wants a trade and the team doesn't want him either. That's Jalen Ramsey. Speaking of cornerbacks and defensive backs, we're going to talk about some comments made by Travis Hunter. Apparently, Travis Hunter is ready to quit football if he cannot play offense and defense. We got some news coming out of the Ravens. Looks like they're tight end Mark Andrews. You might remember the last time you saw him. He dropped a crucial pass, maybe preventing the Baltimore Ravens from advancing to an AFC title game.

Mark Andrews might be done in Baltimore. We're going to show a lot of love to Jackie Robinson. Today is Jackie Robinson day.

Today's the day that he broke the color barrier. We'll get into that. We'll talk about some individuals that might be in the next step of winning a championship.

I don't know if Mark Andrews will be a part of the Ravens if they ever win. Hey, we're going to have a chat, as I told you, with President of FIFA. You know, my soccer football fans know what that is.

If you don't know, you're going to find out soon. We're going to have a chat with President Gianni Infantino. We're going to find out what the Club World Cup is all about here in the United States of America. It's a real big deal.

Jalen Milro is kind of running around the country meeting with teams. The show is Chador Sanders. So we have a lot to do. If you want to be a part of the show, you can. Here's the phone number. 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. I don't know. If you want to trade Zion, if you're excited for the NBA, you can call me up. I'm going to tell you about Jalen Ramsey and where he might end up because it looks like his time with the Dolphins is done.

We'll get into that in a second. It's the J.R. Sportbree show on the Infinity Sports Network. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Man, we just opened up the show, took a look at some of these terrible NBA play-in games, and then we talked about some of the trades that might take place specifically as it relates to Zion Williamson. We'll see if he sticks around or if he's moved with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Now that their president, David Griffin, is gone. Well, we got a little bit more clarification on someone who is actually likely going to be gone from his team. This has nothing to do with the NBA. This is Jalen Ramsey of the Miami Dolphins. You know Jalen Ramsey. He used to play on the Jacksonville Jaguars, won a championship with the Los Angeles Rams, which traded from the Rams to the Miami Dolphins in 2023. He's a three-time All-Pro, multiple-time Pro Bowler. He didn't make no Pro Bowl last year. He's 30 years old. Nobody's going to call this guy washed up, but at the same time, I don't think at the cornerback position, you can still call him a spring chicken.

I don't know. Maybe at some point in time, he gets moved over to safety. And so today we got confirmation that the Miami Dolphins are trying to move on from Jalen Ramsey. And that Jalen Ramsey is trying to move on from the Miami Dolphins. And I said to myself, and then I had to verify it. Didn't Jalen Ramsey just sign a contract extension last year?

And the answer is yes. This man is owed $21 million this year in 2025. He is signed through 2028. He's 30 years old. He's still a good cornerback. He played every game for the disappointing Miami Dolphins last year. The Dolphins went eight and nine.

Just keep that in mind. Mike McDaniel, the head coach, his behind is on the line. We got Tyreek Hill running around. You know, he doesn't know whether or not he wants to be traded or whether or not he wants to stick around. And so things in Miami are kind of tenuous. And let's also be very honest and very clear. Whatever happens with the Miami Dolphins, a lot of it hinges on the skull, the brain, and the brain padding.

I don't know what you call that stuff, that sloshy stuff in your brain. It depends on two, okay? Two or longer below it cannot be out here getting knocked silly if the Dolphins want to have success. If you're asking me, not that you are, but I'll tell you that's why they make me sit here, I have no faith in the Miami Dolphins. I got no faith in Tua Tonga Veloa. I don't have faith that Tua Tonga Veloa can cross the Mason-Dixon line and actually have success, okay? And it has nothing to do with the historical aspect of the Mason-Dixon line.

It has more to do with the weather. The further north that this guy gets away from Miami, Florida, he sucks. Okay, I knew everything that I ever needed to know about Tua Tonga Veloa when he had to play a game in Kansas City and he showed up. This guy showed up looking like the Michelin Tire man. He had no more layers, he was bundled up, he had a hat on, he had galoshes, he had a scarf over his ears, his nose, his mouth.

You could barely see his eyes. Look like one of them kids that you stick outside on a cold day, the kid is so bundled up they can't move. Except for this is NFL football, this is the pros. Like Tua Tonga Veloa, I get it, my man.

From Hawaii, I get it. But you can't show the opposition that you're cold, man. That's why some of these guys, as nutty as they look, before these freezing football games, they are outside running around with no shirt on to let you know that the mental aspect of the game, that they're intact, they may physically be freezing and burning. Yeah, it gets so cold sometimes, if you're not familiar, it gets so cold your skin will burn off.

It sucks. Trust me, you don't want it. Don't ask me how I know.

But the fact is, Tua is soft. And so if I'm the Miami Dolphins, I'm looking at all the salary that I could potentially move on and get the hell up on out of here, and Jalen Ramsey is a part of that. And we actually got confirmation, as I told you earlier today. Their GM, Chris Greer, who by the way, his behind might also be on the line. Chris Greer said, yeah, we want to make a trade, but at the same time, I'm in no rush to make a trade just to do it. These decisions aren't done quickly and they're not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time this offseason working through this, talking through things.

Okay. I mean, what GM is going to stand in front of you and tell the truth? Besides Nico Harrison or the Dallas Mavericks, who I guess will go to his grave telling you that moving Luca Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Entry Pro in Anthony Davis was a good move.

And even him, I don't know if he believes that, but we'll talk about him later. Let's get back to Chris Greer of the Miami Dolphins. So here we have Jalen Ramsey. He's still one of the best cornerbacks in the game.

Not necessarily. He's not up there being the best. He's not Stingley Jr. You know, okay, we get it. Did he want to move? Did you want to trade him?

Hey, Chris, answer me right now. Did Jalen Ramsey do a Tyreek Hill? Did he request a trade from the Miami Dolphins?

Tell me. At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade. So we went through the process and I just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent that it was best to move forward and it was best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey.

Okay, alright, whatever. The Miami Dolphins, as I just said, they're a team going nowhere. Might as well get something back for the guy, right? You don't want to pay him all that money. Now, who the hell is going to pick him up?

I have no idea. We know we have some sad sack, miserable teams in the NFL that could certainly use a good cornerback, multiple time former Pro Bowler like Jalen Ramsey, okay? We got a couple of four.

How about this? Cincinnati Bengals, right? They need any cornerback help. But they can't even pay guys on the defensive line. Trey Hendrickson is still sitting out here. This man does not have a job.

This man does not have an extension. But man, Joe Burrow, he going to be working his arm. I hope they got the ice bucket ready. I hope they have every massage therapist available because Joe Burrow's arm is going to need it if he has nobody playing defense. Now, the Bengals going to acquire Jalen Ramsey if they don't even want to pay Trey Hendrickson? Sounds like the movie taken.

Good luck. I don't expect that one. Here in Atlanta, the Falcons, well, we don't have anybody that can even go out there and get the quarterback, let alone, you know, stop the quarterback from throwing. We got Jesse Bates.

He's good. We got A.J. Terrell. So we don't need Jalen Ramsey. It's apparently the Falcons are paying a lot of money to some backup quarterback named Kirk Cousins.

You never know. Well, there's just a couple of teams. I have no idea who's going to pick up Jalen Ramsey, because when you have to start thinking about the salary cap implications and who can bring his salary on, you would think Jalen Ramsey is only going to go to a team that can legitimately go out there and compete for a Super Bowl. Like, he left the Rams because they couldn't pay him. I mean, the Rams weren't going to keep anybody around. We saw what happened there. Everybody left. He went to the Miami Dolphins to get paid. Good for him. He got paid and he stayed in Miami.

Now it's time to move on. Jalen Ramsey, I think he's a good fit for the Bengals. But the Bengals, as we know, this is an organization that in a former time, they made the players go out there and share jockstraps, OK? This is a Cincinnati Bengals organization that will make you pay for lunch at work.

Even though you as an NFL team, part of your job, you want to make sure the players are well fed. Bengals are cheapskates. Let's see where Jalen Ramsey ends up. But I'll tell you this.

This I know for sure, for certain. The Dolphins, they suck. And if Jalen Ramsey is moving on, don't be surprised. I don't care what Tyreek Hill says. I don't care what his agent Drew Rosenhaus says. I don't care what the GM Chris Greer says. Tyreek Hill is going to be the next to go. The Miami Dolphins may not admit it publicly.

They may not do it now. I hate to say the Dolphins are a sinking ship because Dolphins are excellent swimmers, right? They're supposed to be great. These Dolphins suck. They can't swim. They don't do tricks. And Nico, you've seen a dolphin before, like at SeaWorld or something like that. They're supposed to be smart. I haven't seen one myself personally, but I have heard that.

So, yes, you are correct. It's supposed to be one of the smartest mammals out here. Not Miami Dolphins, but Dolphins in general, right? Great brains, very social creatures. Yeah, Dolphins are smart. Miami Dolphins are stupid.

They start to cut the bait as soon as possible. And let's just move on. Move on from Jalen Ramsey, move on from Tyreek Hill. And I hate to say it. Eventually, you're going to have to move on from Tua as well.

If his body doesn't move on from Tua, Tonga Blower first. And that's not something that any body wants. 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. If you know a good spot for Jalen Ramsey, by all means, call me up. I have no idea what legitimate team trying to win a championship would trade for Jalen and then pay him. Like, how are they going to fit this in the salary? You're making twenty five million dollars this upcoming season. Good luck to the Dolphins. I don't know.

Maybe you got to eat some of that money. We're going to find out sooner than later. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side. Let's go from Jalen Ramsey to a guy who hasn't even played a game in the NFL yet. He is a cornerback, but then he's also a wide receiver and he's a wide receiver and he wants to play cornerback. His name is Travis Hunter, and he actually made a statement that said, if he cannot do both in the NFL, if he is asked to pick one or the other, he's going to pick neither. He's going to quit.

Matter of fact, we're going to hear it out of his own mouth on the other side of the break. Is this just posturing for the draft next Thursday? Because there's no way in hell Travis Hunter is not going to play in the NFL. Right.

People say things all the time just for leverage. We'll talk about Travis Hunter on the other side of the break. Get into more NBA and NFL.

We got a lot to do. It is the J.R. sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. Right before we went to break, we talked about this news that came out today and it was it's also confirmed, which is odd. Because typically in the NFL, you get news, it gets leaked in Rappaport puts it out. We got to wait a year and a day until a GM or president or somebody says something. Maybe we get a stupid tweet from a professional athlete kind of let you know how they feel about things. But ultimately, we got confirmation from Chris Greer, the GM, the general manager of the Miami Dolphins that, hey, both he or they, the Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey. They're out here. They are looking to part ways.

We actually got a confirmation on that. Good. As I mentioned, the Dolphins stink. I got no expectations for them as long as Tua Tonga Veloa is their quarterback. He's a good quarterback. Am I trusting him to lead you on a deep playoff run?

No, I don't know if I would trust the Tua Tonga Veloa to take a walk down the frozen food section of your local supermarket. OK, I'm not trusting him. Guys, you're going to complain that it's too cold.

OK, that's just me. You might as well move on from Jalen Ramsey, move on from Tyreek Hill. They all just hanging out in Miami anyway. Think about no damn football now.

There's another guy. He hasn't even been drafted into the NFL yet. He's a Heisman Award winner this upcoming Saturday in Boulder, Colorado. He's going to have his number retired a long time. His alongside his quarterback, Chidor Sanders.

This is Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter isn't even in the league yet. He's expected to be the number two overall pick in the draft. Maybe he goes to the Browns. Whoever picks him up is going to have a dual threat of a weapon. They're going to have a receiver.

They're going to have a defensive back. They're going to have pretty much a Heisman Award winner out here. This guy won every award imaginable. AP Player of the Year. Walter Camp Award. OK. Chuck Bednarek, top defensive player in college football.

The Belitnikov Award for being the best wide receiver. This man, Travis Hunter, is in the graces. His name is in the good graces of folks like Charles Woodson.

My man, Champ Bailey. Deion Sanders. Like he's in that group.

He's in that collection of people. He wants to play offense. He wants to play defense. Deion coming into the NFL.

What did he do? This man was a defender out there, right? Got him returning kicks. Think about Champ Bailey. My man, Champ, they had him swing. Hey, you're going to play defense here primarily, man.

Yeah, you return every now and then. But to have a guy strictly play offense and defense in the NFL is taxing. But if you're Travis Hunter and you're slight, he's kind of slim. He has had some injuries at the NFL or in the excuse me, in the college level. And if he's getting knocked around in college, what should we expect? If anything, by the time he gets to the league.

You have to put on some big boy weight, right? I would think he's going to go out there and primarily play defense, maybe play offense and then have packages on the other side. But Travis spoke to our friends at CBS Sports. Travis Hunter was having a chat with Garrett Podell.

We spoke to not too long ago here on this show and he was asked about his future as a prospect, as a player. I want you to listen to this interaction because Travis Hunter basically said, if I'm not out here playing both sides of the ball, I'm going to quit. If you had to choose between playing only one position in the NFL or never playing football again, what would you choose? It's never playing football again. That's how passionate you are about playing both positions.

Why is that? Because I've been doing it my whole life. I love being on the football field. I feel like I can dominate on each side of the ball. So I really enjoy doing it.

OK. Now, is that just this part of conversation? Is this man really going to quit? I don't know what he does. Apparently, he's very smart.

He had a high GPA. He's a smart guy. I don't know some of that social media stuff he's doing, but none of my business. I mean, with that sharing his life with his girlfriend, like, stop that stuff, man.

Get over it. I'm glad he did stop. He learned his lesson. But outside of that stuff, he's an intelligent fellow.

He's just saying stuff. There's no way in hell Travis Hunter is going to get drafted into the NFL. And also, by the way, there's no team dumb enough. Maybe the Jacksonville Jaguars are dumb enough to do it, but they're not drafting Travis Hunter.

Not going to get a chance. There's not going to be a team dumb enough to select Travis Hunter and then tell him, you are only doing this, you're only doing that. It makes no sense. Why would an NFL team want to waste a draft pick with an unhappy pick, an unhappy player? And then from his perspective, nobody's going to quote unquote poke the bear. It makes no sense for nobody.

And so nice question by Garrett Podell. But ultimately, I don't see a scenario in which an NFL team selects Travis Hunter and says, we only want you to play offense. We only want you to play defense. That team would then be maybe a bunch of schmucks.

They'd be looked upon as a laughingstock, as a joke. And so Travis Hunter, wherever he goes, this man is going to play offense. He is going to play defense. Is he going to be out there for every snap like he was in Colorado?

Heck no. He'd be split in half. They'd have to drag him. Off of the field, literally, he wouldn't make it through a game. And so whoever drafts him is going to have to be very selective. As to what he's doing on defense. How many places get on offense or vice versa? Are you strictly playing him primarily as a wide out or are you going to just slide him in there on defense every now and then? That's what we have to see now for his own sake.

Instead of saying that, if I don't get a chance to play offense and defense, I'm just going to quit. Keep in mind, there are a lot of rumors rolling around about Travis Hunter. And it can't just be a rumor that he might just end up at number two on the Cleveland Browns. Come on now.

Now, is that a punishment? We know the teams that are selecting at the top of any draft. These are the worst of the worst. And Tennessee Titans are stupid for getting rid of Mike Vrabel. The Cleveland Browns are dumb.

They decided to give Deshaun Watson two hundred and thirty million dollars. The New York Giants, how stupid they were, it was on basically broadcast to the world on HBO last season. The New England Patriots?

Not so stupid, OK? They brought back Mike Vrabel. In no way in the hell the New England Patriots were going to be good for, you know, forever. Tom Brady quit and Bill Belichick had nobody to work with.

End of story. The Jacksonville Jaguars select at five. And there is no way, no way in hell Travis Hunter falls to the Jags.

Not happening. People say crazy things when they're in interviews. Nico, do you really think Travis Hunter would just quit or is he just just talking to talk because he's interviewing with a guy?

Yeah, it's impossible. I think it's just a threat to all these NFL teams that have been considering it. I have heard rumors or, you know, even if it's just fans talking about how, oh, if my team drafts him, I wouldn't want him to play both sides because he's going to get hurt too easily. So I think he's just putting that out there to to scare the GMs a little bit and let them know that he's going to make that decision on his own. Well, I do remember when we around when we were around combine time, the Cleveland Browns general manager, Andrew Berry. He basically said that he views Travis Hunter primarily as a wide receiver and then said, hey, he can also go out there and play cornerback.

But there can't be a team that dumb. I mean, he can put the warning shots out there. Of course, he's going to say whatever he can to try to, you know, dictate where he wants to go. We'll never know exactly where he wants to go. You never want to, you know, lop off potential suitors. That's there be just bad business as a whole. But you don't think there's a team dumb enough not to utilize his skills on both side of the ball, do you?

Well, let me ask you this question. He's an incredible player, don't get me wrong. But isn't the appeal to him and the reason that he is going to go in the top three or four in the draft because he can play both sides? Like if you looked at him as just a cornerback, there are probably people out there that could make an argument that when just looking at his defensive skills, you could make an argument that maybe Will Johnson is just as good of a corner. But when you add the idea that he can also play offense, isn't that what makes him a top three pick? Yeah. But I think at this point in time, like we know he is. But if you happen to be one of these teams, I think what it also boils down to is the bottom line.

That's it. Like, let's think about this. Three years is going to go by fast when he's going to be eligible for a new contract. Let's just say all things considered. Travis Hunter gets drafted. He's successful. You know, I don't know what his rookie looks like. Let's say he hauls in six hundred, seven hundred yards and five, six touchdowns and plays some defense. And people go, oh, my God, this guy, he's going to be great.

And let's say he builds on top of that and builds on top of that. If I'm Travis Hunter, when it's time to negotiate my contract, you know what I'm saying? I'm looking at this like I am Shohei Ohtani. Not only do I show up to work and I throw the ball, I hit the ball and I'm the best guy hitting the ball. And I'm also one of the best guys throwing the ball on the team.

You know what that means? You guys to pay me double. And when you think about some of the contracts that have been handed out to these these wide receivers, Jamar Chase is now sitting at, I think, forty point three million dollars a year. If you're Travis Hunter and you're looking forward, not only do you want to best or be in the range of what he's making, you want to say, hey, I play defense, too.

And so I think it's I think it's forward thinking. But by kind of everybody from his perspective, like I'm priming a pump to make money. Yeah, I got to get this rookie scale contract and what have you. But in a couple of years, I am coming in to break the bank. You're going to pay me on offense. You're going to pay me on defense. And if you're an NFL team, of course, maybe they can't do it or say it publicly. Whoever brings this guy on, they're going to want to try to temper and set expectations for what the check will ultimately look like.

Yeah, everybody wants to win games. I don't know who's going to want to pay a guy. Hey, you got to pay me thirty five as a wide receiver and you got to pay me another 30. As a defensive back, my travel son is in a great position, not just to play in the NFL, but to make some major, major money. And these teams right now, they are being very careful not to say or do anything that sets them up for failure in the future.

It's the J.R. sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Speaking of failure. Oh, my God. We got a we got a GM. What a shock. The GM of the Dallas Mavericks says. I don't regret trading Luka Doncic talks some NBA gets more NFL, more draft. The J.R. sport re-show. Don't move.
