I don't know. I think they were going different ways. I think so. Cody was going this way.
Well, I mean, O'Shea said he was going to hop an Uber to go home. I'm imagining they're not like ride sharing. I I mean, Cody and O'Shea in an Uber pool. Oh my! Uber pool.
That's probably yeah. I mean, I don't know. Probably not happening.
Somebody, you know.
So hour three, the actor John Turturro in studio. What a day! Looking forward to day. What a day! What a day!
JJ McCarthy introduced on Wednesday, or put out there when a quarterback normally talks by the New York Giants when they starting for the Giants. He was the First time stepped to the podium as the new starting quarterback of the New York Giants, which we all assumed would eventually happen when he was acquired just a couple weeks after Jackson Dart went down for the season. This is what he had to say: Everything about this place, you know, it feels. Very fitting for me, you know. Just being, you know, in a makeshift locker room, being in this system where you know they use the quarterback's legs and multitude of things, but the personalities, the culture of just you know grinding every single day to get better, and everyone helping each other to you know progress towards one goal.
It's been fantastic, you know. A lot of successful buildings have similar qualities, and this building definitely has that. But it's got its own little makeshift of New York Giant football, football. New York Giants football that is really special, and I'm just so blessed to be a part of. One thing for sure, he'll definitely know is the who's who has it better than us, Chan.
He's done that a few times in his life. The man who broke the news is joining us here on the Rich Eisen Show. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. How are you, Jeremy? Good to see you.
What's up, Rich? Thanks for having me, man. Of course. Thanks for the content yesterday to start the show.
So let's jump in. What's the TikTok of this? What's the timeline of of of the Giants' decision making and that led to this, Jeremy? Yeah, Rich. It sounds like they were leaning in this direction on Tuesday, and they eventually informed both quarterbacks, JJ McCarthy and James Winston, this is the direction they would go.
And head coach John Harbaugh didn't make any sort of formal announcement to the team. It was actually pretty quiet around the time, early afternoon, when I found out about this. It really wasn't out there, and they were sort of going to wait till John Harbaugh addressed the media at three fifteen p.m. after practice.
So I reported what I did, and then it became clear McCarthy was the guy when he was taking first-team reps in the drills early in practice, and the media saw that. But it sounds like Harbaugh just got to the game plan on Wednesday with his team, and it was sort of obvious based on that game plan that McCarthy was the fit because McCarthy's kind of Jackson Dart adjacent as far as. He can move around. Similar build. You can run the RPO stuff with him like you would with Jackson Dart.
So he's a threat to run. He doesn't necessarily have to scramble a bunch, but they need that threat there that they didn't have with Jameis Winston.
So the game plan really goes back to what they were doing in the spring and summer with Jackson Dart to an extent. His mobility should help their offense, the running game that's been struggling.
So they need the quarterback to at least be able to run a little bit.
So the week one playbook that we saw in the Giants win over the Cowboys and. The first drive that was going well for the Giants. On the Monday Night Week Two game, just up the road in SoFi Stadium against the Rams, before the disastrous hit that Dark took to the knee, that's back in effect that we have not seen in the month since. You think, Jeremy? To an extent, I think it's in play.
They might have to streamline some things because JJ McCarthy's only been there about a month, or Jackson Dart had a year plus of time. He had a whole off season with Matt Nagy, the offensive coordinator.
So, it will be that Chiefs system. I think you'll see some shotgun. RPO stuff, where he can run, he can tuck the ball and make a move, like you would see with Jackson Dart.
So they'll do what JJ McCarthy is most comfortable with. But I do think a lot of that's in play now. Yes, they can run that to an offense. They had a month to try to get him up to speed. He was always going to play; it was just a matter of when, not if.
They felt like he's ready. Plus, he gave a spark. We know how this goes, Rich. When a guy comes in. And a quarterback's bench mid game, and the quarterback comes in and plays well.
And then the next day, the head coach says, "Well, all options are on the table. We'll see what happens. If he doesn't commit to the former guy, he's going to move on to the latter." And that's exactly what happened. And any any word that you've picked up in your reporting about how well McCarthy has taken to this playbook that can give an indication how he might go about his business. Against the Houston Texans, I mean, what a massive game this is for both, as well as a challenge.
Any sense from what you hear about how quick McCarthy has been to get up to speed, Jeremy? It sounds like he has worked really hard in that area.
So I think it's a combination of. Them being comfortable enough to create a game plan for him, it might not be their most extensive game plan since he's only been there a month. But he's caught up to speed enough to where, okay, they can run out a number of plays that they can win with that he's comfortable with. And you combine that with the fact that John Harbaugh was gauging his team here. He saw a team that yes is sitting at three, two, and one, leads the division, has been able to win some games, but they do need a spark on offense.
Last two weeks they've kind of been hanging on a little bit. You know, Jameis Winston. Gave you pretty much what you needed from a good backup quarterback, right? A few wins, a loss, a tie. Gave you everything.
Gave you the full Jameis experience over a month. That was probably enough at this point. And so it's a combination of McCarthy getting up to speed enough, where they can't run every play, but they can run you know a good amount of the playbook. Combined with what they need in the moment as a team and the spark that this could provide, because the division's wide open here, based on everybody else's record and their level of play, as well as the state of other teams' rosters in the division that are banged up, I think I read on the way to work that Saquon's possible to return for the Monday nighter on ESPN that's coming up against the Cowboys, Jeremy and.
So let's linger on both of those teams right now. Yeah. the The state of the Eagles is what, Jeremy? In flux. State of the Eagles is in flux.
I mean, this is a team that has a chance to reset its roster a little bit. I've talked to several teams around the league who believe that they will do that to some extent. Maybe make another trade or two over the next three weeks before that November 10th deadline. You know, you could see Joe Milton here soon because he can actually run the ball, similar to JJ McCarthy. He's more mobile than Tanner McKee, but it's clear that they're probably not going to make a splash move at quarterback to get a starter in here long term.
I mean, I would never take it off the table with GM Howie Roseman, who looks at all possibilities in or out. But for the most part, they are what they are at this point. You get Saquon back, you should be able to help the running game, but you're not going to have elite quarterback play most likely, and you could see a number of options there. Ah, Jalen Hurts, his tenure in Philadelphia, I would probably call tenuous at this point. I mean, I've talked to teams who think that maybe he's played his last down with the Eagles, even though he's got 22 million guaranteed next year on his contract, which could be a bit of a hurdle, but.
You know things weren't going all that great before the blood clot issue with the offense.
So it seems like anything is possible right now in Philadelphia, which didn't seem like the case just twelve months ago. Where Dallas, it's funny. We talked to Jerry Jones at the owners meetings yesterday. He did acknowledge, "Hey, maybe there's another move they can make via trade." Now I'm told that's not a front burner issue for them. Sitting at two and four, I do sense some uneasiness with that team right now, as far as like the confidence level.
Do they know that they can go get? These wins that they need to get, based on the way the last couple weeks have gone, I think it's shaken them a little bit. But they know in that division, like you said, Dallas is two and four. They might as well be four and four, based on. How you can pull this out?
It's the new NFC South, I would call it. There might be a seven and ten winner out of this division this year. Wow.
Okay, Jeremy.
Now listen, I appreciate you transitioned yourself to the Dallas Cowboys, but you can't do that after dropping that. You're hearing Jalen Hurts may have played his last down as an Eagle. From what others around the league are assuming, positing, theorizing, what is the thinking behind that theory? That you are hearing, yeah.
Well, you know, my colleague Dan Graziano and I wrote about this some this week, going back and forth with quarterbacks. And my thing was that they had a chance to extend in this last off season. You know, Philly's proactive with contracts. You know, key pieces they tend to try to extend early. They didn't do that.
Went into this year, played five games. It was. Uneven for the most part, and then now he's out for the year.
Now certainly this is a life situation with the blood cards. We're taking that yes out of the equation. Jalen Hurts has won a ton of games, so certainly he would be a viable option to keep. But just considering how things have gone even recently and dating back to last year, I have talked to multiple teams who openly wonder whether he's played his last down in Philadelphia. They do think that is a real thing that Howie Roseman, low key, will be looking for.
Replacement at some point if he hasn't already.
Well, I mean, there's so many different moving parts here, though, too, Jeremy. Since you mentioned how, you know, trades could be roster remaking, resetting, however you put it, in Philadelphia could be in the ether, and I imagine whether they're a buyer or a seller in that regard is how they play over the next couple weeks. You know, certainly how well this now makeshift offensive line can gel quickly and play well enough, how. McKee might play well enough that in this offense could put up enough points in support of a defense that's not really banged up. Certainly, when you're looking at the offense, right?
They're they're playing lights out. Jalen Carter is playing like a defensive player of the year, and so there's this is teetering. That's why this Monday night game is so massive. And if they're going to make a Joe Milton move, Jeremy, why wouldn't they make it this week when? You know, they could tell.
They can ask Joe a couple things about this playbook. Not that they don't already know what's in what's what Gotti has looked like or is all about. But you know what I mean. Like they could probably do that on the low this week. I'm imagining they've already tapped into that knowledge the best they could.
Where Joe Milton was the QB two in Dallas not long ago, a month or two ago, and then he got cut and brought back to the practice squad.
So yeah, certainly he wouldn't mind giving it to Dallas and getting a win with Philly.
So you know they'll go with Tanner McKee. Looks like for one more week, he's the trusted veteran there. He's been there four years now. Right? Maybe Tanner McKee has some trade value if he could put together another good performance or two.
You could flip him at the deadline. I mean, certainly you have some some options there. I see both teams as sort of teetering right now. You know, Philly with their defense, they're trying to stay motivated because they know their defense is really good. It's solid, and they can still win games with.
But it's going to be a struggle at times because of the offense.
So they're trying to stay hungry and motivated and keep that up. Saquon Barkley coming back is big because the running game just without him has been pretty non-existent. If the new quarterback, whether it's McKee moving forward, if it's somebody else, if they can just get enough out of that running game, you should be able to get Devonte Smith the ball and and be able to try to manufacture points. It's got to look more organized than it did last week against Carolina, though. They just They rolled out the ball and didn't look like they're ready to play, so they got to clean that up.
What are you hearing, Jeremy Fowler, ESPN, here on the Rich Eisen show? What are you hearing up from just up the the one hundred and one freeway here with the Los Angeles Rams? With Puna Ford's now out, obviously, you know they do have Aaron Donald in the mix. When is Miles Garrett coming back? What's the latest on Devonte Adams and the moves that the Rams may make?
I know I just threw a lot at you, but what are you, yeah, Jeremy? It's it's a lot to figure out. You know, Devonte Adams. Adams, I know, and I talked to somebody close to Adams this week. They said he's never really been injured severely before, so he's really motivated to get back as soon as he can.
He doesn't like this feeling of being hurt, so he's going to have a small procedure on his hamstring. He's hoping to be back after the bye, which I believe is Week Eleven for them.
So he is motivated for that, and we'll see where it goes. But in the meantime, the Rams do have to figure out: do we go get a wide receiver? Do we rely on some of these late round picks that we had to be a wide receiver too? The guy who was supposed to be the beneficiary of all this is tight end Terrence Ferguson, who's a young day two draft pick that we like, but he's still hurt.
So they're so beat up. Sean McVay is kind of falling on the sword every week, the samurai sword, saying, "Hey, this is on me. I didn't coach well enough." But he's he's kind of had what most would say is not his best year coaching. And Matthew Stafford, a lot of passing yards, but been up and down for the most part. And so this is a team with a lot of pride.
So I do expect them to try to right this ship. I don't think this is going to be, "Hey, let's sell off parts and punt on this season." You know, they they went all in on this. Miles Garrett will be back. I'm not sure if it's going to be this week. He's working his way back.
He's not going to solve all their problems, though. Particularly on offense. I mean, the defense actually played pretty well last week, enough to win. They, you know, it's funny though. I talked to one team this week.
They mentioned like their team speed is just not very good, and that's sort of been exposed through all this. Like, yeah, they got a super team, and they they have some older players. They don't look very fast. And your best receivers, Puka Nakua, Devonte Adams, are not burners. Like they could really use some speed at certain positions that they just don't have right now.
And I don't know at two and four if you are going to be motivated to go get that at the trade deadline. I mean, but this is it, right? You are in. You got Donald back. I mean, it's not like Iron came back to just team build, right?
Like and and Garrett Garrett, I imagine, is right around the corner.
So. I don't know. So, who who are the sellers and buyers? Best you can tell right now in the few minutes I have left with you, Jeremy Fowler. Yeah, sellers are.
Well, teams are watching the Chargers closely, but the teams I've talked to. Are getting the sense that Los Angeles is not in sellers' mode, at least not yet. You know, GM Joe Hortiz there is a Baltimore disciple, draft and develop, tried and true, right?
So it's it's hard to punt on a season and and be a seller with that mentality. But at 0 and six, incredibly hard to even get close to the playoffs. Most teams do expect them to make a player or two available, whether it's You know Khalil Mack or the other pass rusher Tuli Chua Lilopo or Quentin Johnson receiver. You know there'll be some receiver movement, and we talked about the Rams. Do they go look at that or look at maybe a Jordan Addison in Minnesota?
So there could be certainly some movement there. The Colts teams I talked to believe that they'll wait at least a week or two to see if they can string together some wins. You know they're two and four. They got Minnesota, Jacksonville on deck. Two hard games.
If they can get one, maybe both, and turn things around, maybe they don't sell. But they have some appealing pieces: Quinton Nelson, DeForest Buckner. Like they have real players on the defensive, offensive line that teams would give up capital for. And then I look at the Bucks. You know they're one and five right now.
I suspect that if they lose to Carolina on Sunday. That they are going to make some moves. I just think that at that point they would recognize it's probably reset time and winning that division. Even though usually you can hang in NFC South, if you're sitting at one and six, it's going to be really tough. Wow, boy, that's a lot of information here, Jeremy.
This week, does Lamar make it back for the big game against the Bengals, Jeremy? Yeah, I'm trying to find out, Rich. He's on the practice field to some extent, which is good news. But it just hasn't been a very swift process.
So it's hard to say he's going to be in there right now. You know, it's sort of like an every year occurrence now, where it's a will he, won't he proposition for a few weeks with various injuries. Last year was the hamstring. Before that, it's been you know multiple injuries over the years.
So. This is really fascinating for a lot of reasons, you know. Like this is a team that can be in the driver's seat in the division, but if Lamar is out for an extended period, that certainly is compromised. You know, you have Declan Doyle, a OC who's going to be a hot name in the cycle. He's really impressed so far, but if you don't have Lamar Jackson to work around, it's hard to create those explosive plays.
So it's going to be interesting. I do expect him back at some point. I just don't know yet if it's going to be this week. He's going to have to get on the practice field and do a little bit more. Substantially, to give himself a chance to play.
Any other injury news that jumps out at you that you want to that you can update? I know I am being completely macro here for for week seven. You know, Zach Charbonnet's coming back. Josh Jacobs coming off of the commissioner's exempt. Jeremy, I expect both those guys to play.
Okay, Jacobs. It looks like they'll work him in the lineup. Yeah, and I am actually doing next Thursday night's game and. Against Carolina, so they're going to have a two-week stretch, or like at least a five-game stretch from Sunday to Thursday, to get Jacobs acclimated. And you know they need them.
They've been running the ball a little bit better of late, but it was an incredibly slow start. But they got the offensive line improved.
Now they want to get Jacobs going. I'm sure they'll manage his workload depending on how this practice week goes. But I do expect him to be available. Zach Charbonnet. I've heard that week seven has been the target date.
We'll see how the rest of the week goes. But I think that's been the feeling that I've gotten talking to people there. And then Baker Mayfield. You know, look, he's got the thumb issue, the dislocated thumb. Can he grip the football well enough to play?
So far, so good. At least based on Wednesday's practice.
So they'll see where he's at, and they'll make a determination on that on Friday. And they can get him back. There's still enough talent on this team where they certainly can beat Carolina and try to go on a mini run here. But they're just in that no man's land, sitting at one and five. Even if you win, you're still really far behind.
And lastly, the four and two Broncos taking on the Cardinals this week. The latest on the the Bo Nix. I guess saga might be the way to put it. I'm sure they don't feel that way, but the conversation of around Nick's coming off of last week's win over Seattle was framed a lot by Ryan Fitzpatrick's comments on Prime Video afterwards. What's the what's that what's that conversation that you're you're hearing about Jeremy?
Yeah, you're using the right word, "rich conversation." These are conversations that people in Denver with the team are having, to an extent. But the caveat is, I would explain the people I talked to in Denver were not; they didn't really have a problem with that game Thursday night for one big reason: Sean Payton knew. And express this that like there's a way to win this game against a really good Seattle team, and that's to ball control, win the turnover battle, right?
So I do think they were playing conservatively because Seattle was not scoring, and Denver's defense was playing great, and they baited Sam Darnold into two turnovers, and Bo Nix did not have a turnover.
So because of that, they won, and it was ugly. It was one of those proverbial ugly wins, but those Thursday night games, for whatever reason, have a lot of reaction. I think just because. You're starting the week of football, and everybody's excited, and you want to see great football. And then if there's any sort of quarterback struggling, we jump on them.
Look, there are some concerns with the confidence a little bit. I would say there are concerns with his mobility. You know, maybe hasn't been moving like he used to. He used to be able to run out of trouble. He's either not doing that.
Based on some hesitancy, or he's not able to do that coming off the ankle surgery. I suspect that will get better over time, throughout the year. But they absolutely still have faith in Bo Nix and are sticking with Bo Nix. They know the running game hasn't been great to support him. They're just not getting the explosive plays.
That's not leading to any sort of fruitful play action plays for Bo Nix.
So it's been a bit of a struggle. That Seattle game, he took some shots early in the game. Downfield, trying to mantriculate the ball. I was told that the San Francisco loss and the way he played in that game was a little more problematic than the Seattle game. It just didn't have as much of a problem with that game, based on the tenor of it.
Jeremy, thanks for the time. Great stuff. Appreciate the twenty minutes here at a crucial juncture of the National Football League season. Greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Oh, nope. I'm here to host. I'm here to serve. I'm here to inform. I'm here to occasionally entertain.
But I'm here to serve, host and serve.
Okay, serve. And in that respect, I am in second place right now in the league that I have not won in 14 years. That I need to win more than ever. My poker league. I'm seeing the guys tonight.
Okay, and I'm going against my dear friend Doug Robinson. Who has Josh Jacobs on his bench, and he texted me this morning. Do you know if Josh Jacobs is going to play? And I responded to him like, "I'm going to tell you, right. Get out of here with that.
You can find out information, right? Yeah, yeah, that's not. You know what I mean? Your phone works, but I've got Jeremy Fowler here. Of course, and it's my job to get the information out to the listeners and viewers of the Rich Eisen show, of which Doug is one.
So I guess I'm here to serve him, but not that. He came to me to ask me for my information and expertise. Get out of here! No, that's here. I told him, forget it.
Not a chance. But when I have Jeremy Fowler in front of me, I could have just asked him about anybody. Zach Charbonnet. Yep, but there is a big question as to is Josh Jacobs going to play and how much? Sure.
So Fowler said he's going to play, and that he also said, by the way, that he's he's going to be in Lambeau Field for Carolina and Green Bay the week eight. Kickoff. That's one week from today, tonight, and you know they have a game in Detroit on Sunday. By the way, Sunday and Thursday are the off days of the Brewers World Series.
So Brewers fans are going to go to the game tomorrow night, Saturday, then the off day. Watch your Packers. And then t here is three games in Tampa, and then an off day where you are in Lambeau Field. I mean, so the Packers play twice in a span of five days, and then the off days of the Brewers' first World Series since nineteen eighty two. He might run out of beer in that.
Like you can't make it up. Philly Brewer better order some beer and sausage. But so you know, I am here to serve.
So, Doug, you heard the information, but I got to be honest, and it's a high register Thursday. Does it sound like you don't know how much Josh Jacobs is going to get action?
Okay, he's got to work. They said they had to work him in. A lot of videos today of Josh at practice. Why? That's great and good for him and good for the Packers.
But I wouldn't. I moving around. I don't know if he's a safe start. Oh, interesting, Rich. You don't know.
I mean, suddenly, you know, it's not like he's just going to come out. No, that's right. Of six weeks off. And suddenly be out there just like the Josh Jacobs revolt. I'd be careful if I if you're going to start him.
Marshawn Lloyd's look pretty good. He's looked last couple weeks. He's gotten in the end zone.
So I'm just saying. You said Marshawn Lloyd. Yeah, no. Just send Doug the interview. Make him make the decision himself.
I don't know. Doug can find out. He gets YouTube. He gets over. It's over.
I served. Yeah. The question is, will he receive? I don't know. Right.
But I'm a giver. I'm a professional. Is the headline? That's the headline. Weather Tech Fan Line.
Let's go to it, everybody. Josh in Kenosha, Wisconsin. What's up, Josh? How are you? I am doing great, Rich.
How are you, and the boys? It is not. How are you, Josh? What's going on? What I mean?
Hey, hello, Wisconsin. Fantastic.
So, I actually have a couple things. One is a what's more likely, and then the other is a higher register.
Okay. So, as a Chicago sports fan living in Wisconsin, I'm right on the border of Illinois, Wisconsin, in the southeast corner. Very good.
So, it's very hostile here, and a lot of excitement with the Brewers. But what's more likely, the team to get eleven wins, Brewers? Postseason or Packers regular season? Great one! Wow.
Where the so the Brewers obviously you're asking me if they're if if I think they're winning in the World Series, Josh? Is that what you're saying? Yeah. Well, realistically, yeah, it's more rhetorical because I think we all think the Brewers are probably going to take it, but I would like your thoughts on that. I do think the Brewers are going to win the World Series.
Let's put it that way. Number one. And then number two, I don't, I don't know how many games. I need, I need, I need a minute on that. I think six.
I'll go six. I'll go six. But I'll tell you what. All the Miz has to do is ask Cam Schletter how the Rays do against pitchers that throw heat. They handle it.
So be careful. But the Packers winning eleven games, now four through six. Pretty good. How about I'll say both. I know that's not the answer.
And what's your high register, Josh? It's a high register Thursday.
So my my roster here is tonight's game between the Patriots and the Bears. Is that a is that a Super Bowl preview? Are we are we thinking that we can get it with Kale Williams and Drake May?
Okay, good one, Josh and Kenosha, Wisconsin, with both Staples. What do you think? Is it a Super Bowl preview? What do you think? It is a possible Super Bowl preview.
That's why I hate it's on Thursday. This game deserves to be a Sunday night. What is it? Full rest. Complement everyone.
Ready to go. Right. I hate that. I hate that this is a Thursday game. I am not here for Thursday night football.
Slander. I'm not. This is. I'm not slandering Thursday. I hate that this game is Thursday.
Why is there drama on Thursday night? We're sitting around on Thursday. It's a great game for a Thursday night. It's a great appetite setter. Cool.
You don't have any skin in the game. What are you talking? My team playing on a Thursday night in this game against Chicago. I. Hate it.
Why? I mean, were you not just listening to the previous 45 seconds? I just, I just. I'm with you, bro. I don't know.
Listen, I'll say this. I don't care. Listen, Thursday Night Football, NFL Network's the one that just put it back on a map.
Okay, years ago, and it worked really well. I was on the road for all those years, hearing about oh, the rest this, and the games aren't that good because everybody's tired, everybody's this, everybody's that. I don't want to hear it. You know what we did on NFL Network, and then we did it with Fox and CBS and NBC. You know, did all that.
No one's. And I don't want to hear it. I don't want it. I don't want to hear that. I mean, Amazon's running our pregame and postgame playbook to the block.
It's not what we're talking to the block with the same people who are producing it back then. True. No one here. I don't want. I didn't want this game on a Thursday night.
Well, it's going to be great game, and I can't wait to see it. I I don't know what what's going to happen, and that's why I wish it was on Sunday. I got I got nuggets. You want to hear some nuggets? This is some nuggets for it.
Take some nuggets. Here we go. We barbecue. I got nuggets. Want to dip it in barbecue?
I got nuggets. We like nuggets. Where are my nuggets? Come on. Here we go.
I got nuggets. Sound like nuggets. Here is what it's going to come down to. Bears run game. I know what it's going to come down.
What's it going to come down to? Pats can't stop the run. That's right. Bears are so good at running it. Except, hold on a sec, Chris.
Wait till wait till you hear my nugget.
Sorry. The Pats can't stop the run. They can't.
Well, they have trouble doing so.
Okay, Brail and Allen. Screw it.
Sorry, Venny. Pasquantino texted me. I said to him, you know, I texted him. I heart Brail and Allen. He's really good.
He wrote back in that you know disappearing ink. Oh yeah, yeah. You know, he wrote back. He's Derrick Henry.
Well, let's slow down. He's a fan. Let's slow down.
Okay, so Brailin Allen looked good, which is why the Jets, when they needed short yardage situation three times, ran it with somebody not named Brailin Allen. Yeah, I wouldn't have. That's for another day. The Bears do lead the NFL with 161 rushing yards per game, but have been held below 100 in straight games because the guy Kyle Monangai, your young guy, Monangai, ain't there, and he's not going to be there tonight either.
So twice in a row without Manungai, they have been held below 100 yards, and the Patriots have held their opponents below 100 rush yards in five of the six, tied with three other teams for most in the NFL.
So as much as you think they don't stop the run, I got stats to say they do. All right, I welcome that. Thank you. And let's see what the Bears. Can do against Drake May, who is out of his skull.
The first three games of the season, one passing touchdown, six interceptions, nine sacks. That guy is gone. Drake May has ten passing touchdowns, one interception, and just two sacks taken in his last three.
So, what are they going to do against him? Defensively, and how will they run the ball against New England? Those are the two keys of the game. And I got it. Did you know?
Oh, thank you. Oh, did you know tonight? Caleb Williams is going for the first back-to-back 300-yard games in his career. The last Chicago Bears quarterback to accomplish that feat was Mitch Trubisky back in in 2018. Did you know?
See, so there you go. Prime Video. I can't wait to also see what Ryan Fitzpatrick has to say about quarterbacking tonight, because that was an outstanding, yeah, moment in their post-game coverage. Right in the middle of the rundown, that's I could tell you exactly where they're going in their rundown pretty much every single night, because I was the one hosting that rundown essentially for years to make Thursday Night Football a viable product.
So you're welcome, Prime Video. It's basically what I'm saying on behalf of NFL Network. You know what I'm saying? This ain't Bo Nix for Sam Darnold. This is elite quarterbacking.
Oh my word! Hey, this is two of the top. Wow, six, seven.
So you say that there will be respect for the quarterback position? Yeah. Both these guys are going to put on a show tonight. I can't wait. I'll be tuned in.
Respect is real. Pre to post. Pre to post. It'd be cool if it was Sunday. I will be tuned in.
It's gonna be whatever. Stop it. Watch Thursday night football is what I'm. I'm not telling anyone not to watch it. I'm saying I wish this game.
Okay, Sunday. I don't know. Again, I'm even. I haven't done Thursday night football in. I can't remember the last time I did it, but I still will cape for it.
So I didn't travel all over the country doing reads about Time Warner Cable not having NFL Network. Oh my God! At every spot for like ten frigging years, I didn't do that for nothing. I'm not disparaging Thursday Night. I'm talking about this.
I'm taking it personally on behalf of everybody that's at Prime Video. You're making. You're like Michael Jordan. You're just making up disparaging. Like, are you LaFonzo Ellis?
I guess so.
Okay, the Bradford Smith. The Bradford Smith. Pardon me. Thank you for that correction. When you lose, I win.
I feel like Yaxel and you're Luca just yelling at me. I can't. Even put on my glasses. I'm so on fire right now, like Sol Rosenberg. Jeez, but I have my shoes for American-made floor liners and a cargo liner that laugh in the face of fall weather.

That's five out of six years with hybrid SUVs like the tech-infused Tucson, the adventure-built Santa Fe, the premium and capable Palisade. I kind of feel like that. You can describe me like the Palisade. At this point, this shelf is going to need its own structural support system and a dedicated construction crew because these vehicles are awesome. View U.S.

As I was with this headline involving the Tennessee Titans and one of their better defensive players, and Jordan Elliott. I guess he got into an argument with one of his teammates and went to the parking lot and grabbed a gun out of his car.
It's an open carry state in Tennessee, and he he he grabbed out the car and he took. Apparently, was brandishing the weapon, pulled a gun, and they cut him. And Robert Sala took to the microphone and was asked about what happened and the decision making. And I want to play for you the full soundbite because this is why I I love Robert Sala. This is why I think players love playing for Robert Sala, and I think this is why Tennessee is going to be somewhat of a destination for other players to go to.
Despite the fact that you know how I feel about firearms, and I talk about it here, and I believe they're way too prevalent in this country, and I, I, I will just leave it at that because I understand how listeners and viewers feel about firearms, and I've been very vocal about stopping gun violence and and what needs to be done on that front, but. The way Robert Sala described the situation and the way he's handling it, I think, is as a plus plus as it gets.
So, I want to play the entire soundbite for you. You know, first, I want to say, like, I think the organization and the NFL did an outstanding job with regards to pausing, which I think everyone needs to do in the situation. Is pause with regards to the news that Jordan had had a gun. And the reason why I think NFL and the organization did an outstanding job is because this is a man who is a father, a great husband. He's never committed a crime in his entire life.
And he pulled a gun in the parking lot. And the first question that I think everyone forgets to ask is why would a great man, a great father, a man who shows up on time every day, works his ass off every day, contributes the way he's supposed to contribute, is well liked in the locker room? Why did he go off the rails and grab a gun? And to me. Those are small signs of a cry of help.
If you, in terms of obviously, there's something greater happening, and I thought the team and the NFL did an outstanding job with regards to pausing and asking those questions and checking every single box with regards to getting him the help that he needs. And the last year, the NFL has lost two outstanding young men to taking their own lives because they may have had help. They may have been crying for help, and everyone ignored it. And and I'm not saying that's where he was. I'm not going to speak on that.
But these kids go through a lot, a lot. And and and like I said, I thought I I will stand on the table for Jordan's character. Unfortunately, rules are rules with regards to guns on on property, and and sometimes it's far greater than the knee jerk reaction of kicking somebody and kicking somebody when they're down. My message to thirty one other teams would be: if you need a hell of a run stopping D tackle that can help you on a playoff run, give me a call. I'll tell you everything you need to know about him.
He's a good man. Made a made a terrible had a terrible lapse in judgment. That I recognize as a call for help, more than a than a criminal act, and it's unfortunate the way it went down. And, but, but as as far as Jordan's concerned, and and the locker room and all that, I think, I think, I think the locker room and Jordan, I think people see it differently here than than the knee jerk reaction of the of the world. Sands, it speaks for itself, and I, I commend Robert Sala for handling the situation that way.
Yeah, hundred percent. But clearly, it was just untenable for him to stay in Tennessee, and I just want to play that soundbite for you. That moment with Robert Sala, one of my favorites that I've gotten to meet in the National Football League. Mark in Chicago is on our WeatherTech FanLine. Let's take that call.
What's up, Mark? How are you, sir? Rich, how are you doing? What's on your mind? Taking my phone call.
You bet. Thanks for making it. Frequent listener, always calling to ESPN One Thousand. Longtime Bears season ticket holder, getting ready to go to game tonight. Just want to give you another key to your game tonight.
Yes, sir. Unfortunately for for the Bears.
Okay. So our corner, our cover corner number one, he's gotten slow or he's injured, and he Drake May is going to torch him unless they support him with Thielman or Kyler Gordon, which means Gordon can't do all those splits if they if they don't give Jalen Johnson help. They are that that speedy wide receiver is going to torch him and go blue rich. Ah, nineteen fifty alum. All right, Mark, very good.
Really appreciate it. Listen, thoughts on our covered corner and getting torched? Listen, don't want to see it happen. Drake may going to the game. Drake may listen.
And anybody that and thanks for the call. Enjoy your ride there and enjoy going to the game tonight. Yeah, enjoy that and. AJ Brown. Let's see what.
Let's see what we can get from him. Big time. Three catches, twenty-seven yards, a career high. Three drops, and he's had fewer than a hundred receiving yards now in five straight games, dating back to last season in Philadelphia. That's generous.
Now, listen. Last week could be rust. Week one, he didn't complete the game, so those stats are. Take it for what what what you will. But let's see it.
Certainly, if Jalen Johnson is vulnerable, yeah. No, Romeo Dobbs tonight. He got put on eye. And another thing, and another thing, Vaughnigan. Mario Douglas is a guy to keep watching.
Yes, Pop Douglas, Efton Chisholm. We'll see who has his. Who sounds like you're cursing him out when you say his name? Could be an Eli Raridan game. That Efton Chisholm.
And Efton Chisholm. You know him. And tonight, tonight, I will have a moment watching this game. When I'm sure, my guy T-Man, who produces these games so expertly, Mark Tittleman for for Prime Video, will take an aerial shot of Soldier Field and seeing one of the most beautiful cities in America all lit up, and I will sit there go, "Why do the Bears have to move out of there again?" Yep, don't get it. What's going on with that?
What an incredible vista that is! Beautiful. I understand there is some business deals somewhere that they like better than staying put, but my word, is it gorgeous! Right there in one of the most remarkable, beautiful cities, right there on the lake, right there in a city, and so many of these NFL towns. The the stadiums are out in the middle of nowhere.
You got to drive forever and ever and ever to get there. Foxborough is like an hour. You know what I mean? Not even a stadium right there in Chicago, Illinois. One of them.
Again, I know there's Arlington Heights and Indiana, but I would love for them to find an ability to stay where they are or find some real estate in that city. Good Lord.
So that's what I'll be thinking when I see a beautiful shot of Chicago, Illinois tonight. I think they're starting the game tonight with a tribute to Mike Ditka. Oh, awesome!
Okay, I did. I did see that. That'll be great. That'll be great. Another reason to tune in to Thursday Night Football.
Absolutely, nice, great standalone night. You know. Thanks for listening to the Rich Eisen Show podcast. You can watch and listen to the Rich Eisen Show live weekdays from noon to three Eastern on ESPN Radio, Disney Plus, and on the ESPN app. The Rich Eisen Show, the podcast.
