When the glory of God has departed from a person's life, spiritual decay sets in, leading to false worship and a decline in faithfulness. True worship, on the other hand, is scriptural, Christ-exalting, renewing, and humbling, causing individuals to be in awe of God's splendor and to be drawn to Him. A person whose glory has departed will often engage in self-promoting worship, which is emotionally based and not sacrificial, whereas true worship is attractive to the world and brings people closer to God.
