Stephen, the church's first martyr, looks to heaven and sees the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, even as he is about to be stoned to death for his faith. He gives a powerful sermon, recounting the history of God's redemption in the Old Testament and accusing his accusers of killing the prophets and rejecting God's message. Despite their anger and hostility, Stephen remains full of the Holy Spirit and sees Jesus as his defense attorney, rising in his defense.
