This is the Truth Network. He became one of my BFFs during the Da Vinci Code when he disarmed and destroyed all those lies attacking the Bible.
Now there's a different battle on a different front. Trying to take the word of God out of government. Trying to take the word of God. Get this. This may shock you.
Out of the United Nations, Brazil is in an epic election: communism versus capitalism. This guy, a pastor, he didn't retire because Jim Garlow. You don't believe in retirement, do you, brother? I don't. That's not biblical.
That's a four-letter word. I transitioned to a ministry we call Well-Versed, which brings biblical principles of governance to government leaders, where we can go across Europe. Up with members of Parliament to our own members of Congress and across South America as well. Yeah, you know my my friend Pastor David in Charlotte, he says he didn't retire, he re-fired. I like that.
Absolutely, absolutely, no such thing as retirement.
So let me ask you about this, these books you've written, and let me just get let me just get the elephant out of the room, okay? Yep. Here's this giant elephant. You know the elephant's trunk, and you know how do you get the elephant out of the room one bite at a time?
So let's take one bite. Let's take the big bite, and this is this Christian. That's my little. My daughter Faith just walked by. Christians are saying, "What's this guy who's been a pastor and author?
He's taught apologetics. He's mentored many, you know, world leaders and all that." Jim Garlow, what's he doing talking about politics? What's he doing talking about legislation? What's he doing writing verses? And what's he doing talking to Donald Trump about how he should be biblical and how he should turn to God instead of to man in all his decisions?
What do you? How do you reply to those folks that say you shouldn't be dealing?
Well, I'm not political. I'm biblical, but people don't recognize biblical anymore. God is so good. He is so loving. He gave He gave us His book, the Bible, which addresses not only a personal issues, it addresses not only family government, it addresses not only church or congregational government, but it also addresses civil government.
Some people's Bible reads, "Thou shalt go into all the world, except politics." That way, we surrender it all to the devil. That's not the way it works.
Some people say, "Well, I just preach Jesus. I don't get into politics." Well, I preach Jesus too. I give an invitation to receive Jesus almost every time I preach.
However, I also preach what Jesus preached. What did He preach? The kingdom. What's the kingdom have? A king.
Who is the king over everything? He's over everything governmentally. God is so loving that in His book, the Bible, He outlines exactly how civil governance is supposed to work, to the extent. That a nation will follow biblical principles of governance to that extent, they'll reduce human pain, suffering, and poverty. But to the extent that they violate biblical principles of governance, they increase human pain, suffering, and poverty.
Wow!
So let's help me make this practical, because everyone listening right now, this midterm election is coming up. And this is another elephant in the room.
Some some Christian voters like I'm just going to sit this out because the conservatives, you know, Donald Trump came in there, and sure, maybe he did a few good things and this and that, and he restored faith. He shut down these borders to protect us from you know fentanyl dealers and all that. But gas is costing all this money, and you know, and it's it's expensive to buy food and bread. And there's this really nice candidate who's more of a socialist who's promising to lower all those price. And they're like, well, maybe I'll just vote for him.
So bring in socialism in. That's probably a pretty good idea to our country. Electing those senators and congressmen that promise that, right?
Well, let's start first of all with the first promise you made. Is I'm going to set this election out and not vote at all.
Well, do that if you want to violate Scripture. Romans 13 says specifically that the government is to be the ministers of God.
Now that word is diakonos. It can be translated either the government is to be the servant of God or the minister of God.
Now, if you're in a monarchy, you can't do much about the government because the king rules everything. If you're an oligarchy, you can't do a whole lot. But if you're in a constitutional republic where we the people are The government. We are the government. We are the ones to make sure that the government, in fact, does not violate scripture, goes with scripture.
That a government is supposed to be the minister of God, bringing true holiness and righteousness and biblical justice, not social justice.
Social justice is Marxism built on envy, which says, "I want what you have if I don't have it," and truth. And so, if you're a follower of Jesus Christ, you will vote because the scripture says the government is to be the minister of God. And we, the people, in a constitutional republic, are the government.
So we have to vote.
So it's stewardship too, right? Exactly.
Now let's go to the second part. What's the purpose of government? The purpose of government, outlined also First Peter and in Romans thirteen, is to protect the citizenry.
So the foundational issue of government, of its purpose, the number one issue. I ask this to candidates all the time. What's the purpose of government? And watch them stumble. Many of them don't know.
The number one purpose of government, according to Scripture, remember God's the one. Who established government? God's the one who establishes nations. He came up with the idea, and so the purpose of government is to is to protect the citizenry.
Okay, if you are going to protect the citizenry, let's just start with young from the moment of conception. You will protect a baby in the womb if you have a scriptural government.
So you could not possibly vote for somebody who supports the murder and dismembering of a baby in the womb, not even giving that baby anesthesia as they're being chopped apart. How how barbaric! Is that like partial birth abortion? Like you know, this sweet grandfather, this sweet grandfatherly character running for senate in North Carolina. Every time they tried to stop partial birth abortion in that state, he vetoed it.
And yet he's this sweet grandfather guy. They calls himself a Christian. How can you live with yourself like that?
Well, Adam Hamilton's running for senate. He's a pastor in Kansas right now, claims to be a follower of Jesus, but he says the Bible has mistakes. And he used to be pro life. He's now pro abortion. He's now pro same sex marriage.
He now about That if you look at Genesis, what does Genesis establish? The first thing God established was gender specificity: male and female created him. That's that's the first thing gets said about every person. If they look on a sonogram or they wait till you're born, the first thing they said about you was, "It's a boy." You were never called it. After that, again, you were called he from that moment on, or it's a girl, and so you're called she from that moment on.
So God established that. Number one, number two, he established marriage: one one man, one woman marriage. The third. Third thing he did.
Now we're up to Genesis four, is procreation. We're made in the image of God. The image of God, as a couple comes together, the complementary halves of humanity come back together, and they're made together in the image of God. What's the image of God? His capacity to create.
They have the capacity to procreate.
So if you are a follower of Jesus, you will never ever cast a vote for someone who would kill babies in the womb. That's a violation of Scripture on many counts, but especially. The role of government is to protect all citizenry. Number two, you would never, you would never vote to anything that would destroy the fundamental unit that is designed by God Himself. Before even He established government, He established four governments in the Scripture: personal government, which is personal restraint; number, family government, church government, and then civil government.
They're all important, but the family government is the first thing that He actually established, and that's how much God. Values it so. No follower of Jesus would not vote, and be a serious follower, and they would never vote for someone pro-abortion or pro-so-called same-sex marriage or transgenderism. Would not do it.
So, if you first of all, you're if you think that a socialist or communist candidate is going to lower prices on things, you better think again. They're going to stick it to everybody. They're going to raise prices. It's going to be nuts. But if if you if you vote for someone.
That wants to allow guys in girls' bathrooms, locker rooms, which is what a lot of these candidates are supporting. They they won't they won't agree with what civilization has agreed with what the Bible has said for thousands of years that there is there are two genders. You got to really watch that. You got to be careful. No matter how Christian they talk, you got to really really look at that.
Jim Garlow, we're almost out of time. How does this go by so fast? You got to tell me about these two new books, real quick. Just give a shout out for each of them. I want folks to read your books.
The title, the titles are going to get some.
Someone's going to stop in traffic and have to pull over when they hear the titles of these things. But give, I want to give you a little plug because you are you are a man of God and you really have a heart to see people come to Christ and to see governments. Do righteous come in alignment with God's wills? Yes, sir.
Well, first of all, go to wellversedworld dot org.
Wellversedworld dot org. The first book I recommend is Wellversed. That's the title of it, and it gives the biblical foundations to thirty-one political topics. The second book is called Reversed: From Culturally Woke to Biblically Awake. Gives the biblical foundation to sixty political governmental topics.
The third one is an intriguing title: The Executive Orders of President Donald J. Trump. A biblical perspective, where we analyze all of his executive orders through the lens of scripture. Wow!
The the next one is called Unversed, Una as in United Nations, and has a strange subtitle. I'll have to explain. Unexpected Bible verses and scriptural values found within the United Nations. Wow!
Now the section two does an analysis of what's called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Thirty of them of the United Nations. How much are they biblical? How much are they contrary to biblical? The third section, United Nations and Israel.
The fourth, second, United Nations and globalism—a very bad thing.
So that book is available at wellversedworld dot org. But the first part of the book, which is intriguing about the United Nations, we had a ministry at the United Nations before COVID. COVID shut the building down. We met privately with ninety-two of the hundred ninety-three ambassadors there. We have a small ministry, but we met privately with them.
We had Bible studies in the United Nations, and what people don't realize. Even though God, the United Nations is not a good place, God's kept out, the Bible's kept out, Jesus is kept out, etc.
However, God is so pervasive that in the statues that are there, we don't have time to go into it. But I would blow your mind if I told you statues, art, paintings, stained glass, tapestry, even wallpaper. That is all Scripture. Wow!
Throughout that building, even some of the Christian people who worked there didn't know that that was there. And though my book shows the pictures of them, God is so pervasive; he even goes where he's locked out. Yeah, that's something else. Jim Garlow. Wow!
I'm going to have to go back and listen to this podcast broadcast program a lot of times. Write some things down. What a blessing! Hit that website one more time and give your call to people out there about the importance of getting involved. And again, King Jesus is who our Lord is, and we don't ever want to get we don't ever want to get sideways with our neighbor because you know I'm Democrat, he's Republican, or you know vice versa.
We get we got to put souls ahead of that. But but there's also a call to be involved, but be gracious in how we do it, right? Yep. Wellversedworld.org, repeating Wellversedworld.org. Republican Democrat Party.
The parties come and go. They they won't be around forever. But the Word of God is His Word. His word is good, and we have the privilege of proclaiming all of His word. And that word includes the biblical principles of governance.
And once we begin to follow that, the blessing. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. And the reverse of that would be cursed is the nation whose God is not the Lord. And so the people don't give up. It says also in Psalms, when the foundations are being destroyed, what are the righteous to do?
It sounds like, oh my, what are we going to do? Hand wringing. What are we going to do because the foundations are being destroyed? But that's another rendition. Of the Hebrew text actually says, "When the foundations are being destroyed, what is the righteous one doing?" In other words, when the foundations are destroyed, what's God up to?
And let's get along with what God's doing, and let's go join what He's doing because His plans are already blessed.
