The Dodgers are off to a strong start, with some experts predicting they'll break the all-time major league record for victories in a season. Meanwhile, the Padres are also undefeated, but their rotation is one of the better rotations in baseball. The Browns are facing a tough decision at the NFL Draft, with several quarterbacks to choose from, including Cam Ward and Chador Sanders.

This is the Rich Eisen Show. Ladies and gentlemen embrace this. With guest host Andrew Siciliano. Embrace this man from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles on his bobblehead night. Earlier on the show six year NFL veteran Jason Cabinda. Coming up World Series champion pitcher Ryan Dempster. Former NFL general manager Mike Mayock. NBA champion forward David Lee. And now sitting in for Rich. It's Andrew Siciliano.

Oh that'd be me. Hey everybody hope you're doing well. Glad you were here. Why is Brockman laughing in the back? I'm doing the inside joke already.

No, no, no. Jay laughed at you being like hey it's me. That was funny. Okay.

Okay. Hi Jay. Hi Chris.

Hi TJ. I'm glad I'm like funny like a clown. I make you laugh. I'm happy to be here truly. I mean it. It's sincere. Really.

I have free time in the off season. It's good that someone says hey come in there's a microphone. You know.

You gotta stay sharp. My cousin Vinny was on last night. Was it? Speaking of Joe Pesci. I would have to think that in the streaming age my cousin Vinny is on every night.

I know but it was just happened to be on Paramount. I was like flipping channels after the Otani walk off and I'm like oh what's on TV. Otani did it again because of course he did. Like there was any doubt he was going to hit the home run. This guy. We all agreed that we're all playing for second because how you going to be a team with Mookie Betts and Otani.

Well let's ask. And he hasn't even played. Freddy's not even playing. I know. We're all playing for second.

Yes you are. So imagine that. Shut up feller. Will the Dodgers go undefeated? Ryan Dempster is on MLB network much like my cousin Vinny every night with Kevin Millard on intentional talk weekdays 4 p.m eastern time.

He's a world series champion as well and a noted Canadian. Ryan Dempster welcome to the show. How are you? I'm good. Thanks for having me.

Thank you for being here. 116 is the all-time major league record for victories in a season. It's been done twice. The Cubs after the turn of the century like the like into the 1900s that is.

And the M's as well. What do you say? Dodgers are 8-0.

Ryan what do you think? I said earlier I think they break the record. I think that there's too much depth.

Like you look at it. We had an interesting stat on MLB network. Top 100 players since 2017. Every team that's won a world series has had at least five of those guys. The Dodgers have nine. So they have the starting like that's like that's there's there's other guys that are like probably could be on that list. They have an incredible roster obviously well constructed and then they have three bona fide superstars. Two of MVP caliber and I'm not knocking Freddie Freeman. I just think he's the star but he maybe is the tickbeat low mookie bets and obviously Shohei Otani is the elite of the elite.

Think of what you just said. Yeah not knocking Freddie Freeman. I'm sorry Freddie my former teammate with Team Canada.

Yeah I feel bad. Yeah he's just you know he's one of those guys they they they put against the righty every once in a while. No I mean it's it's pretty incredible what they got and then you go into their starting rotation and beyond that I think what makes them so formidable is their bullpen. Like they're they're not going to lose games late because they got multiple closers in their bullpen.

It's they're nasty. And listen Ryan you're talking to a Guardians fan here we'll get to them in a second but it almost feels like and I'm in LA so I watch the Dodgers every night it almost feels like they have like a 40-man roster they're playing with. Speaking to that bullpen right it's like oh wait he's there too oh Dave Roberts went to the bullpen oh I forgot he was there as well and that's every single night. Yeah it's it's really impressive like you know there's the whole don't want guys to throw more than three days in a row. Some teams are two days they don't like it more than two days in a row and with some teams out there like you talk about your Guardians okay classic is here's a team with a great bullpen last year they're they're going to win games and they're going to compete for their division because when they are leading a game after the eighth inning they win the game because they have manual class say the Dodgers have Kirby Yates Tanner Scott Blake trying and that's just three of the guys I know that can bonafide come in and close and then you can go some other guys in there that can match up like you have the luxury of really pacing yourself after a long season last year where you go to the World Series and then you know it's going to be deep into October again this year at least if you can get through that DS it'll be that way so yeah they're just they're they're stacked and and it's you know but that's part of the fun now you got to challenge them right that's all that's on paper that we're seeing it play out in real time right now but guess who else is undefeated the San Diego Padres so you know you can go out there and you're going to have these good games they got a great lineup too and you just gotta it comes down to execute and if you can execute um and if you can't you give up walk up homers to Shohei Ohtani yeah uh you walked me by the way right to my second topic here Ryan Dempster and that is the San Diego Padres and this is for my dear friend from NFL Network Daniel Jeremiah Padres season ticket holder who lives and dies with them nightly should we buy the Padres here are you buying their seven and oh yeah I I'm buying them as a team that's gonna you know probably you know to challenge when you when you don't have a you Darvish in your rotation that that hurts a little bit but they're seven and oh right now they're gonna challenge the Dodgers throughout the year when they play them it's gonna be intense it's gonna be fun um their lineup is deep as well they score runs but they pitch very very well I think the rotation is one of the better rotations in baseball um and I and I think that if they get into a situation again with a short series against the Dodgers you never know I mean they almost did it last year almost we can call it I get it close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades but you know it's it's really one of those things where they're really close and so it comes down to who uh who's better in the postseason I think that Fernando Tatis Jr could turn a corner and get into that MVP category again versus you know I think the potential has been there I think Jackson Merrill is a stud obviously you see why they locked him up so yeah the Padres are for real I think they're right there with them conversely we have the Braves who you know Rafael Devers got hit for the Red Sox yesterday actually got two everyone's happy but the Braves still have not won a game they're on the short end of that Otani walk off at what point and I know we're not talking about the Orioles here and they're 0-21 I don't think we'd get to that but at what point should you be legitimately concerned that you can't dig out of a hole even if it's only April yeah real soon because I saw the stat today somebody posted something about you know a team that's 0-7 has never made the playoffs well things have changed right there's more playoff teams there's teams that come back that's changed a little bit in in the totality of the history of the sport but that being said you're in a tough division man like the Phillies are good the Mets are good the Nationals are better I'm not saying the Nationals are going to win their division but they're a better team when you play them within your division now and you go down the National League I think that I think two if not well two for sure but I think even three teams I think Diamondbacks might make the playoffs you got three teams in the West that are going to make the playoffs I just think you got it it's got to happen fast and it's kind of it's it's interesting and then you have injuries Ronald Lacuna juniors out until May Spencer Strider hopefully will be back for them but like the issue isn't necessarily the pitching the issue right now is their offense and it's you know it's been a struggle for them you up and down the lineup they just have not been able to score runs um you had guys that went through injuries last year and you go okay they were injured last year they'll produce when healthy and now they're healthy and they're not producing and it's only a weekend of the season and we have to slow down a little bit on that but but you got to get it going here pretty quick and figure out a way to put some wins on the board because otherwise those other teams ahead of you just start to run away and then all year long you're climbing and you're climbing and you're climbing with question marks you're climbing with question marks of jerks and pro far who's now out for 80 games with a ped suspension your guys guys coming back from injury will they be healthy when they come back um so there's a lot of question marks it's not like everything's fine we're healthy everybody's good we didn't get anybody suspended but we're just not playing really well right now we'll turn around there's a lot of question marks on that roster i think and and they got to figure that out before we damn the torpedoes um i i i gotta i gotta ask you go back to the guardians here so class a blew the save in the opener they they rallied in extras and they won it in kansas city for those who don't know emmanuel claus say with like a 0.69 era last year i mean basically unhittable was exactly the opposite in the post season and either he had a dead arm or he was tipping pitches or whatever overworked whatever it was he was imminently hittable in the post season and then that came back day number one here on opening day uh the guardians haven't been good they haven't been hitting he hasn't had many safe situations here so it really hasn't been that bad he pitched yesterday they were getting blown out he was fine um but a buddy of mine had a radical thought last week and he said to me you know what they should have sold high they should have moved him in the off season if you're moving nailer right maybe move him to try to get a bat back his value would have never been higher as long as you could get the other team to get over any concerns about his postseason performance ryan what do you think of that yeah that's not a bad take that's that's a very logical and and well thought out take and i'm sure they probably had a little bit of those discussions i think most teams who are good and run well tend to think outside the box like that like but you're right like that's the that's the highest you're going to get i mean he arguably one of the top five i'll just call it because you can go down a list but of seasons by a reliever or a closer ever i mean unhittable all season long and the yankees did a tremendous job against them whether that was pitch sequencing i heard a lot of stuff about that like he was agreeing to throw pitches that he wasn't necessarily comfortable in that situation throwing um but you know it's hard it's really hard that's why there's very few closers in the hall of fame there's very few mariano robera's and trevor hoffman's and and even hoppy like you know the totality of his numbers you know 600 saves all that those are there but there was some off years it's hard every year to go out there and be that good time in time out and because either a fatigue kicks in or or you know i see it more often whatever it is the hits fall you know everything goes your way one year and then next year it doesn't so yeah i i mean that that would have been a smart play in hindsight but at the same time you're kind of you're kind of punting a little you're saying okay we're kind of just agreeing that we're we're gonna just be in a rebuild here we're going to just be in a rebuild here because if we're getting rid of the nastiest closer then we're going to lose a lot of games late yeah and look there's an nfl corollary corollary here as well um statistically speaking teams that have number one defenses it's really hard to replicate year two i mean you can still be top five top ten but to be number one consecutive years it's almost unheard of the guardians bullpen last year was historic i mean collectively sub two era absurd and to do that two years in a row you have to think there's some kind of regression there natural regression and therefore you're going to have to hit a little bit more you can't rely on four and a half innings out of your starters every week or every day i beg your pardon it's not the nfl um but regardless classe is there they got to start hitting a little bit they they are in anahim opening tomorrow let's get to the torpedoes and there's a yankee tie-in obviously because they use them unbeknownst to many last year at least some guys did including jean carlo stanton during his ridiculous run in october ryan did you know had you heard last fall that they were using these um i didn't know that john carlo was using one i i knew that players had used them before i thought it was just a small group of guys trying it out and to be honest with you i never gave it a lot of thought but it makes sense i mean if you if you're a guy and with today's technology not just the bat the technology at which we know where guys hit the ball a majority of the time if you can move that around so be it like there there's guys go the other way like ken grippy jr who you you know for his entire career uses 34 31 c 271 it's thicker it's really thin handle all the way down because guess what he didn't hit any balls on the on the label he hit them all towards the middle end of the bat and so he wanted the heavier part at the end of the bat so i think this is recognizing something somebody obviously he was very smart um when he when he developed the idea of this and then for their analytics department to go let's do this and it's legal and so be it what what's getting lost in all this i think it's it's a sexy topic to talk about a the name the torpedo bat it's fun to say and then b is we're getting lost in that i think the bigger issue was not the bats it was the fact that guys are just missing location and like eight of those nine home runs were down the middle or hanging breaking balls like you can't throw erin judge from a left-hand pitcher you can't throw 92 middle in and not get it inside and expect that he's not going to put it over the fence like that's just how it goes like my old teammate glenn and rush said everybody's freaking out erin judge could hit 50 with a shaft of a foreigner like it doesn't it doesn't really matter if you don't execute like i watched some guys pitch jack lighter through the other day he absolutely dotted his fastball against the lineup the day before goes out and scores 14 against his teammate kumar rocker who's throwing 97 98 but he's throwing it in the middle and they they put up two touchdowns so and it's always going to be location are there going to be the occasional times where you know maybe it gets off the bat a little bit better or it juices a little bit better sure that's just switching the barrel but if you execute hitting's hard man it's pitchers have the advantage because if we can execute a pitch even the best hitters in the world more often than not you're going to get them out and it's not always we've fallen in love with chasing velocity so much well guess what now we figured out how to manipulate the weight of the bat a little bit within the rules now if you miss if you miss your location you're going to get hit really hard and you're going to get a lot of damage done to you so it's always pitching's real estate location location location and going back to last saturday to your point they were facing a former teammate in nester cortez ryan before the whole bat thing came out like i'm watching that game and my reaction was there is no way he's not tipping i mean they have to with a former teammate on the mound know exactly what he was throwing yeah well they know he's aggressive with his fastball so whether they jumped all over the first three pitches and as a pitcher i've been in that situation before you throw a first pitch to the game i did this against the astros once craig biggio takes me deep on the first pitch and i'm like okay you know derek bell comes up i throw another fastball and he whacks it for a double and in my head i'm going okay they're being aggressive but now here comes bagwell he's probably gonna think i'm throwing a slider because you know they're and i throw another fastball away and he whacks it for a double and it's like i've given up two runs i got three pitches into the game and you're all of a sudden in trouble and it's like now you got to make an adjustment but at the same time it's like um a guy sitting on a fastball inside all right awesome and i'm going to throw him a fastball inside greg mattox taught me that he goes if a guy's sitting a fastball throw him a fastball just throw it below the zone throw the pitch in off the plate you want him to swing at it you want to get the out for nester i mean goldschmidt took a pitch that was up and away and hammered it but after that they were just misses he just threw it center cut almost and it's like whack whack whack and next thing you know and then it was just in his dome and then he just kept making mistake after mistake bad breaking balls all kinds of stuff but yeah i mean are they gonna tell him he's tipping nope uh no way if he's tipping he's tipping and they're gonna keep that a secret just like they kept the torpedo bats a secret until somebody noticed so yeah that's competitive advantage that's the way it should be we're not all the same we want to try our hardest we all want to make it a computer simulated game and try our hardest but we're not we're built differently you know we're we all operate differently in as teams however you can get the competitive advantage within the rules then go for it absolutely so in our final 10 seconds here in summary you do not have a problem with those bats let i mean they're legal they're legal go for it yeah if they're within the rules go for it you know that's that's how it is and like like i said there's lots of guys using them and you know zack gallant pitched against the yankees he struck out 13 so didn't give up a run i mean you know it's there's a there's it's all about executing pitches exactly they're human beings they're not the dodgers ryan dempster with kevin malar and sierra santos on intentional talk on mob network 4 p.m eastern every day ryan we appreciate the time man thanks for coming on you got appreciate it thanks you got it also austin welles home good rich late last night and then again this morning when i woke up dozens of texts some claiming it must be real some saying this can't be true yes and one said this is the best indication that hell has frozen over since the 04 red stocks or the 2016 cubs but i am here to assure you and everybody else that the fires of hell are still very much blazing because i am absolutely not on twitter they have taken the bogus account down and i began thinking you know what would actually what i have to do before i ever deigned to be on twitter what like binge watch the real housewives of orange county make a return trip to soci just for the nostalgia of a pink eye episode star in a school to basketball or or just for you just for you rich yes bob make a special trip to the nfl combo all those things will happen before i'm ever on twitter okay so this is the real bob costas we can confirm that now yeah twitter needs that oh my gosh your son uh tweeted it out that this is not you when i saw the the first screen graph that that keith sent to me yes one tip-off should be look i'm a reasonably humble and self-effacing guy yes but what i knowingly shortchange myself seven emmys hey guys please get the number of emmys right exactly i said that i said 21 seems a little right you gotta pull a scam get your ducks in a row uh that's great with costas great by the way costas his voice sounds like music there like tired bob costas waking up in the morning pre-coffee on the phone it's like it's like music back of the rich eisen show andrew siciliano sitting in for rich at the rich eisen show desk this is furnished by granger i'm thinking of putting in a new desk in my home office i might call granger because this thing is is sturdy and fantastic with supplies and solutions for every industry granger has the right product for you call or click granger.com or just stop by it's always a pleasure when this guy is on we worked together for years at nfl network um he was alongside making sure i didn't screw up when i called my first senior bowl and he was amazingly supportive for that now calls games on westwood and does a million other things as well um former jamboty of the raiders mike mayock it is good to see you andrew it's always my pleasure pal how you been doing great i mean life's good doing a lot of work it's all football related which keeps me around the kind of people i like to be around and keeps me busy and i still get a little little opportunity to play a little golf here and there down here in southeastern georgia so life's really good man what are you shooting these days oh i didn't want you to ask me that the golf gods might shoot me down i i shot a 78 yesterday which look at that i'm allowed let me i'm a lousy golfer and so that was really different for me and i don't really want to walk that out there anywhere let alone the rich eisen show with andrew siciliano because wow you know i'm gonna go out i'm gonna go out there tomorrow and and shoot 94 so that that would be my normal hey it's it's about the consistency of the tape we see the flash plays but can you make those plays consistently no obviously is it repeatable i'm i'm totally this golf thing has got me hooked a little bit because intuitive it's counter-intuitive to every sport i've ever played and i played baseball and football in college i played four sports in high school i was always pretty good at all of them but all of them revolved around being quick twitchy powerful trying to be as fast as you could immediate decision making and golf it's like the quicker twitchier more intense you get the worst you get and for me that's a challenge calm through the ball mike mayock shooting a 78 yesterday 22 days before the draft now we're 21 days before the draft before we get to that i want to go back to the annual meeting in florida a couple of days ago and you're the philly guys so philly perspective here mike tush push should they ban it or not this is a hard one for me being a west philadelphia kid and having done five years of preseason games for the eagles loving howie and jeffrey laurie and all about that organization i love them um but me personally i don't like the the tush push and it has nothing to do with player security you know it's really all about for me if you can't pull a player why can you push a player and the rules was really started 20 years ago for different reasons it morphed into this and what i really hate though andrew is it it affects one team because they do it better than anybody else and really what i think's happening here is under the guise of player safety i think teams are going to try and legislate this out of the game because it's an eagles advantage so every team in the division is looking at the eagles saying why should we play them when when it's first and nine every series they have the football and i think over time they're going to legislate this thing out of football and i think they're going to hide behind player safety um and i think it's a shame for the eagles even though personally i don't like the play and i'm with you i think that's what's going to happen if the vote 16 16 and they table it till may normally as you know when they table things it means they're going to try to whip the votes over the next couple of months and they likely won't get them i i'm with you on if you if you if you can't pull a player why can you push a player and i do think we go back to the 2005 rule but i also think like with jeff stoutland who's the best in the business and he and how we are on the same page of drafting identifying drafting developing and then maintaining that program in their room and always having the next guy up not all of these quarterback sneaks have jaylen actually being pushed from behind i think they're going to find a way to still be a very effective sneak team even if it doesn't involve dallas godard shoving him in the back well i i agree and i have no problem with quarterback sneak i mean that's been a part of our game forever um i i just don't want dallas godard or anybody else back there um and you know i think the reason they changed the rule back then andrew that you just referred to was i think they had a lot of offensive linemen kind of picking people off piles 10 yards down the field and so rather than than taking shots they allowed them to push um so we've gotten completely away from whatever the spirit of that rule was and and now one team does it supremely well and they're going to get penalized and not only do they have jeff stoutland in an offensive line but they got a quarterback that squats 600 you know he squats the house and nobody else can do it other teams don't even want their quarterback doing it they got tight end stepping under center so i'm with you i think the eagles will find a way to continue to make it work it just might not be at the same rate of success exactly talking to mike mayock 21 days before the draft here on the rich eyes and show let's just assume and mike you haven't heard anything cam ward's likely going one right we think that that's going to be the thing okay so let's assume that mike's nodding for the radio audience then mike what on earth do the browns do it too i'm i'm intrigued um i know andrew berry well and i really know kevin stefanski well another philly guy and they're both highly highly intelligent in any industry um and so here we are they traded for kenny picket from the eagles and i'm sitting here going they have to take a quarterback at two right but if cam ward's gone and they don't have a grade on chador that justifies anywhere near that you can easily sit there in a in a behind closed doors and go look we already have our developmental young quarterback he was a first round pick in 22 his name's kenny picket so why don't we continue to work with this kid he's got a little bit of nfl experience he was a first round pick for a reason and we think he's got a we had a better grade on him coming out than we do on chador or jackson dart or any of these guys so he can be our young developmental guy but here's the caveat now we got to go find a veteran and aaron rogers if he goes to pittsburgh like we all think you know at the end of the day what does that leave for a vet quality veteran starter to me it's kirk cousins and dark car now when you look at those two you know nothing's coming out of new orleans that would suggest they would allow him to go he's their starter this year you look at atlanta it's a different conversation kirk cousins wants out atlanta is willing to let them go assuming they get what they want in return i'm assuming on top of that atlanta wants to wait post june first because then they can let the salary cap mitigate over a two-year period instead of one so it's a little bit of a quarterback roulette game because after those two quarterbacks and keep in mind they both have no trade clauses if you don't get either one of them then uh oh we're in the carson wince ryan tanny hill um joe flacko world and uh you got to be careful because i'm not sure you want kenny pickett under center week one in cleveland and by the way you'll be calling that game andrew and it could be against darren rogers i mean you you never know it's fascinating let's say they don't go chador all right and the browns are in colorado right now pro day is tomorrow they're expected to meet as they've said they said it this week in florida with both travis hunter and chador sanders let's say chador gets to nine mike and hypothetically the saints turn in the card well then does derek carr one out we already know that kirk cousins would like a little bit of clarity i don't want to go to a team that's going to take a quarterback in the first round i might want to wait until after the draft but after the draft there may not be a job that then is open at that point so i i'm with you it's kind of a game of roulette and there are a lot of browns fans that say we'll trade up to one well the titans may not want to trade everyone has a price but mike we did the research and jack andrade and i both dove into a jack andrade great nfl researcher handles the draft there has never been a trade from two to one ever there's no precedent there's been a trade from three to one but that was 1975 when the falcons flipped with baltimore the colts and moved up three to one for george coons and all pro right tackle that was it one for one so when people say well the titans won two ones hey i say that's absurd but when you're on the clock if they're not entirely into cam ward maybe it's doable but this idea that you could just flip them a three and and get there i i don't think it's going to happen yeah i i don't see it in any way shape or form um on the clock or elsewise i don't think people want to panic on the clock that decision is going to be made with your owner when you're picking number one your owner sitting in there going what are we doing you know so it's the gm the head coach the owner they're they're all going to have that decided well before they put a card in the first night of the draft and that owner amy adam strunk in tennessee has to think big picture we're building a new stadium as well and if we think this guy is the guy cam ward it would be nice to have that quarterback and have that piece in place as you work towards that new future in downtown nashville talking to mike mayock here other thoughts on the draft here mike day two quarterbacks if you want to go there is there a guy traditionally day two quarterbacks don't necessarily hit jaylen hurts being the outlier at pick 53 is there a guy dak Prescott day three quarterback this is an interesting group that you would plant a flag for uh here's where i stand on this group um jackson dart might go on the first just out of necessity to your point i don't know where chador is going right now you know if cleveland passes on them and he's sitting there with a bouquet of roses at number three um the giants have a head coach and a gm a little bit on the hot seat and if they take chador it doesn't make their team immediately better it might over time but you know they might rather have a position player which does make their team better immediately so jackson dart could be even play in the first round he might not be i look at him very similarly as i do to chador i think he's a little better athlete than chador but neither of them is dynamic i think he throws with some anticipation i think he's a tough kid that can run the football also um i i think he's accurate um i struggle a little bit with him uh late in games with a lot of not not pressure of outside sources but i'm i'm talking about blitzing type of pressure if you watch him against lsu last year alabama in 23 took 11 sacks in those two games and and really struggled down the stretch when his offense needed points especially this year against lsu and again i'm not putting all that on him there were a lot of free runners but his offense didn't have the answers they needed and that's a long way of saying he's a developmental guy for me as all of these guys are no offense okay i think they're all developmental guys um tyler shuck i don't care that he's 25 he'll be 26 in september i do care about the injury history um guys who get hurt in college tend to get hurt in the pros he started one season out of seven in college football for the entire season uh then i go to the guy that i i get a twinkle of my eye on a little bit and that's jalen milro from alabama and the when i look at i go okay what does he do well well he's a runner like uh i put him in the same category as uh jayden jayden daniels and lamar jackson how fast is he as fast as he needs to be and he's 20 pounds heavier than those two guys does he have some accuracy and inconsistency inconsistency 100 which is why him going in the second or third round andrew i think is perfect first round quarterbacks come with this pressure and you got to play him right now i'd love to see him behind um like the la rams and matthew stafford are you kidding me no pressure to play the opportunity to sit behind an established quarterback and play caller in sean mcveigh i think he's a two to three year project but if somebody rubs this this piece of coal i think he could turn into a diamond yeah his his cut-ups his scramble cut-ups are absurd absolutely absurd like oh he doesn't have an angle oh wow look he's he just got past five guys turn the corner and he's in the end zone like holy but yeah you go to mobile and mike you were there i mean there are a lot of balls in the dirt i mean there are a lot of throws to the flats that got air mailed over the sideline and you're like i i think there was some um with inconsistent understanding of a new offense and what he's trying to do and claiming and all those things no excuses here uh i i've already said he's a major developmental project when you watch you mentioned the cut-ups on the run game if you watch your other cut-ups on the pass game you can see him throw a 17-yard dig a deep in route in between two defenders right here with unbelievable velocity and accuracy and then three snaps later have the guy wide over in the same plate wide open in the same place and throw it eight yards over his head so there's massive inconsistencies that need to be worked on and that's why he's got to go to a team where they recognize it and they don't just throw them out there in the scout team offense right and expect that he's going to get better that way they're going to give them real opportunities to improve so um he's a guy that he's got a lot of glaring deficiencies but i love his upside mike mayock what about the wide receiver class top to bottom what do you think yeah well i think wide receiver and offensive line andrew i struggle this year with both those positions i mean a wide out i would tell you that there's three or four at most first round picks nobody in the top 10 you got tet mcmillan from arizona big guy um contested catch wins with length and physicality um matthew golden from texas i really like him and i think he's skyrocketed since the season ended and not only is he's quick but he ran for it 429 at the combine he's fast um he runs good routes he's tough i think he's ascended through the process and i think he could be the first wide receiver off the board some people like the ohio state kid abuka who i think he's really good football player well coached solid great routes hands toughness will block and then you look at luther burden from the zoo and you go wow he's got a little more talent a little more upside but today he's not as good as abuka those are the four that i like after that i i think there's 20 guys that could go anywhere depending on what flavor you're looking for and i don't think that the second and third rounds are going to be anywhere near as deep as they have been in in the past four or five years and teams need playmakers it's a passive league despite what we saw last year and kind of a return to the run game and what about the old line mike because as much as much conversation has been had about will campbell's arm size there's not a lot of conversation about the rest of the class yeah a guy i fell in love with early in the process was armand membo and i was like why is there no juice surrounding this kid um and i put a pretty big grade on them and um it looks like everybody else now has also wants the tape circulated and been around and i think they're the first two tackles off the board some people like membo better than will campbell uh will campbell to me is a tackle and yeah i mean i hear people talking about guard and all the rest but i like his hand use i like the way it's tied to his feet um he's gonna have to anchor a little bit better and but i think he can i don't worry about that half an inch you know 33 or 33 and a half you know everybody wants 34 but really it's it's it's more tied to what kind of player are you how do you play the position i think they're the first two tackles off the board uh kelvin banks from texas uh is a tackle that some people want to play guard i think he lives a tackle i think he'd be a good tackle um really solid good in the rudd game has some um technical deficiencies in the past game he's gonna have to work with and then after that you know that's what i mean we've been getting five or six tackles in the first round the last few years after those three it's kind of like josh simmons from ohio state coming off a significant injury played well prior to the injury a guy i like from minnesota more than most people ariante ursery who probably goes in the second round but after those five guys or so it's not like there's a great second and third round piece of this like there has been in a lot of drafts and i'm kind of intrigued because like a team like seattle said you know they traded their quarterback to the raiders gino smith they got a third round pick um they traded their wide out to pittsburgh yeah um they get a second round pick um so now they have five picks of the first 92 and they got heavy needs at both o-line and and wide out so it'll be really interesting to me to see what they do at 18. okay you're gonna take a lineman first because you're worried about the depth in the second round but what about the depth at wide out also um they've got 50 and 52 in the second round which i think can get them quality players especially interior offensive linemen but they can also use the second or third round picks to move up in the first round if they want a will campbell or an armam membo so i think seattle's a team to kind of keep an eye on uh in those first two days of the draft because they've got the ammunition to move up if they need to and with the new quarterback and sam darnold although you can look at that contract and say how long term really is that deal so keep that in mind as well also keep in mind that mike mayock shot a 78 yesterday more importantly mike wow it is always good to talk to you we thank you for your time hit him straight talk to you soon hey andrew thanks brother good catching up you got it mike back everybody yeah how you doing i'm fine so you just get dropped into the middle of the biggest sports story of the year what's this been like for you marissa uh i got a gig out of it so so basically your phone blows up saying you have no that guess what bill belicheck just dropped mona lisa veto in a press conference yeah i kind of had to catch up on what was going on and the whole uh ball gate or balls gate or the plate gate by the way that should be the name balls gate is a great name of this whole thing i'm on the phone and i texted about it we thought it was we thought it was pretty funny we both got a kick out of it joe peshy texted you about this well yeah i texted him he texted me you know we sent requisite emojis what joe peshy emojis is that that that was you know the cute one the kids blowing the kiss okay yeah that might be the biggest breaking news of this whole thing so marissa seeing bill belicheck play physics professor can you can you i guess uh critique his performance as a physics professor was it believable in your estimation i thought it was to be pretty uh pretty darn believable i thought he i thought he underrated himself didn't you i thought he went above and beyond well i i've never heard of a football coach dropping physics knowledge like that he would kick my ass in a physics test right now i could tell you that i thought he could maybe he could have maybe done it with the accent though like if there's activity in the ball relative to the rubbing process yes you know he was talking about right exactly i love him so i love him so let me ask you this final question marissa yeah knowing this character mona lisa veto as well as you do clearly you want an oscar for this performance you know this character inside and out do you think mona lisa veto could acquit tom brady and bill belicheck get them out of this mess the same way she did vinny's cousin that's a lot of pressure on on mona lisa do you think she could do that i think she'd want she'd want to because you know who doesn't love him but um i don't know ultimately maybe you know she's a new yorker yeah so uh she's a jet fan so mona lisa veto would leave i don't know it depends how many other other cases are in the queue perhaps i think so but he was definitely you know dead on balls accurate as she would say back on the ridge isin show so on the tv side here obviously we play those old vignettes rich and they're marissa tome brockman personal question uh-oh are you comfortable watching yourself on tape oh can you do it i mean i feel i can do it i over it but i don't i'm over it by now people still ask me what it's like i'm like i don't even think about or see the cameras or anything but like watching back a clip don't love it i don't either i used to very very very early in my career like i could not watch anything back on television unless i was alone in the dark under a blanket with a drink tj are you doing that are you watching anymore though no contest episodes how do you feel about that you know i watch clips and stuff yeah but it's okay it doesn't bother you no depends if i say something stupid that's how it came back to radio just so back to radio tj says did i say something stupid no anyway we're back hi it's andrew sitting in for rich reminding you don't let the urge to sing along to that catchy tune distract you from the truck drifting towards your lane russell wilson and jamis winston and whoever you draft what are we doing the giants might as well fold as a franchise number one the pittsburgh steelers should be done flirting with aaron roger s what like three more years under the rookie deal put a super team around this guy and watch him cook for the record you suggest the niners should move on from brock purty and give the keys to joe milton that's what the internet's the internet's telling me joe milton's tom brady today i got all these pats fans pissed off that they only got a fifth round back what did you expect he's played one game he's played one game three quarters one game he made a cool pass that was like 100 miles an hour it didn't even count yeah i i'm a joe milton fan but turn on the college tape he could throw it 80 yards and anything shorter you don't know where it's going that sounds like anthony richardson hey i i think he's a nice project here for the cowboys i really do and i said it before i'm just trolling 49er fans no no i truly do believe that there will come a moment that was cool there will come a moment this year where cowboy fans clamor for joe milton that's not a anti-dack take i just know cowboy fans and i know that there will be you know a tough spot of the season there is for everybody every team every quarterback seven first take you can see it now should the cowboys go to joe milton that's because it will happen week week nine is what are the cowboys doing happen no it's actually milton time it's gonna be in august you watch oh he's gonna have a preseason game here's what's gonna light it up joe milton is gonna light it up in a preseason game he's gonna get in there and run around he's gonna chuck a 75-yard touchdown to some rookie wide receiver some undrafted rookie wide receiver and and you watch the the screaming head shows on monday should the cowboys start joe milton should they trade and then fans wonder like say that the cowboy fans are insufferable we're not putting ourselves at the top of these shows it's the people running the shows that were doing it hey for the record for the record i did a tiki-taki on this last week go back and watch it that's a
