Now. On with the show. This is the Rich Eisen show. Touchdown, Javante Williams. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles.
Today's guests: Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino, ESPN college football analyst Josh Paynt, Rams running back Blake Corum, Steelers defensive tackle Cam Hayward, actor. Rob Riggle, and now it's Rich Eisen. Here we go. Imagine if I started every show that way. I think you should.
Okay. Welcome this edition of the Rich Eisen Show. Everybody, live on Disney Plus, the ESPN app, ESPN Radio, Sirius XM channel 80. We're five wide today. We're a lot of talk.
Five guests, as you heard through our show. Open, lots to get to. First up is Vinnie Pasquantino. The Brewers are on the doorstep. Boy, did they just bat around the Rays in their own, no doubt home.
I mean, they beat them about the A, B, and C rings last night. You know.
So there's going to be a conversation with Vinnie Pasquantino. First up. But first up, we talk a bit of Monday night football. After I say hello to you, Chris Brockman. Hey, Rich.
Overreaction Monday on a Tuesday coming up later. You and I did Overreaction Monday yesterday. It's out there on RSS feeds. If you want to listen to it, our Rich Eisen Show YouTube channel. If you want to see it, good to see you, Mike Del Tufo.
Good morning, Rich. TJ Jefferson. Oh, baby, candles. Lay the good one, Mike. I think he has to win two games.
Go ahead, play for him. He's just not ready now. Come on. Got victory robe Monday on victory robe. Oh my God, Monday!
Except it's Tuesday. Oh, it's all good from from the Monday night. It's all good. It's all good. You know he's good.
He's got a robe on. Like I'm excited. Like he's walking out of the Ravenite Social Club in the afternoon. Oh, you got that one. Oh, I need a cigar right now.
All right. Yes. Dallas Cowboys saved their season, and if you want to, you know. Say Marcus Spears knows what he's talking about, and usually he does. Most of the time, he does a lot.
He does that's why he's on Mondays, and he's given voice to what a lot of people were saying. Cowboys also saved Brian Schottenheimer's job. Two and five might not have given him the immediate axe, but it definitely would have put something in the mind's eye of the Jones family for later on in January. More than likely. But that didn't happen, cause Goddie showed up.
Yeah, Goddie. Ryan Fluornoim catching balls. C.D. Lamb catching touchdowns. George Pickens catching a touchdown on a beautiful pitch and catch from Dak to him.
Amazing catch back of the end zone. Javante Williams. Rumbling, rumbling, bumbling, stumbling, he what? The old line, career high, hundred and fifty-five yards on twenty-five carries. The run-pass disparity poof disappeared on Monday Night Football.
He ran it. He's now got eight rushing touchdowns this season. After one last night. It's good. Last time a Dallas Cowboy rushed as many yards in a game, Zeke a buck fifty nine in twenty sixteen.
That's the most rush yards allowed by the Eagles under Nick Sirianni and any other defensive coordinators, including obviously Vic Fangio. That's the way you start turning it around. Two hundred and four yards rushing overall. Dak only threw it twenty-seven times and had three touchdowns. That's gaudy for you.
Oh, that's the way it's supposed to look. Yes, indeed. Just a an unofficial. Did you know, TJ Jefferson? What's that?
Did you know? Only one other player. No, no, no. Only one other player in Dallas history has eight rushing touchdowns in his first four seven games. You want to guess who the other one is?
You know it. I know it. The American people know it. The Metroplex knows it. The Hall of Fame knows it.
I mean, Emmitt Smith. He did it four times. Four times. I said four times. The goat, greatest of all.
Now here's Javante Williams saying, "I can do what Emmitt did once. Do I can do? And he did four times. This is what I'm talking about, TJ." Yeah, Overshones picking passes off. Caleb Downs being brought down at the line of scrimmage, hitting people.
Yeah, offensive line played great yesterday. They didn't really get a lot of. Let's forget about the idea that half a Saquon started the game and ran one in on him. It didn't look good to start, but that's when Goddie started showing up. Saquon Barkley.
Scored and made it a seven-three game, and then there were lead changes back and forth, six of them. Pretty fun game. Till the Cowboys scored the final eighteen of the game and ended it. And saved their season.
So Brian Schottenheimer, the head coach, you'd have to think he's ecstatic. He's happy, except he gave basically one-word answers. Very uncharacteristic of the usually, I'll use the word, avuncular head coach. The Dallas Cowboys. Look it up.
He's usually quite the happy warrior. Not on Monday night after winning. Yeah, we played really good tonight. Second half had nothing to do with desperation. Our guys just played good.
Yeah, except for the game that you viewed this as a must-win. Did you view it that way? Um, no. I thought it was the next championship opportunity. But again, I think it gets us right back into the hunt, you know?
How important is it to get on a run here? You've spent a while since you guys have won back to back. Yeah. Think about this one tonight. It's really important.
You know, want to play well again next week and beat a good Arizona team. You seem a little short, not as superint as you've been in the past. No, I'm great.
Okay, excited for our guys. Thanks. Thanks. Yeah, I saw some numbers on this. His average post game presser is ten minutes.
Last night, four. Woo! It sounds like the media, but I don't know if you're this way. Certainly, I'm with Sue's. I'm feel that way with Sarah.
Something wrong.
Something like you're in the kitchen, clean up. Don't say much. You, you can sense something's up. Your spidey sense is going off. I do something.
Like I don't want to keep moving on with our night until I get confirmation that we are cool. Did you get that sense from that press conference right there? It's there to turn to Dak to ask about this. Basically, turn Dak into Luther. Brian Schottenheimer's anger translator, hit it.
Definitely hungry, pissed off version of Shotty. It's not like he's naive. It's not like he hadn't heard some noise about him, and you know, whether it's the calling the games or whatever doubt that's been out there. But we've got his back. He knows that.
He's a guy that takes a lot of pride in his job, a lot of pride in his team, and. Yeah, I mean everybody handles everything different, and so I don't blame them to an extent. And yeah, we've got his back. More importantly, it's just about us going out there and executing on Sundays. TJ, your cowboys are circling the wagons.
Circling the wagons. Don't you do that when things are going bad? Or, or it's like you know what? Maybe you do the opposite too. Maybe you do the opposite, and Brian Schottenheimer is like, "Okay, I see you, media.
I'm also happy to make you the enemy. We're all circling the wagons here because three and four is not good enough. That's for sure. And I will say this: I'm sure a lot of people are like, 'Well, the Eagles are toast. They're finished.
They're two and five.' And we'll get to them in a second. That defense is not." Banged up, defrauded. I mean, Nolan Smith was out last night, and otherwise, they ran all over a defensive line that is fully intact. Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, you know, Zach Bond was behind him. You had both Cooper DeJean and Quinton Amole Bay out there.
Reek Woolen. I mean, they were going against the the Eagles' defense that has been balling out for much of the year, and they ran all over him.
Now, you know, defensively, there is some bolts that clearly need to be tightened. But you know, the happy-go-lucky Dallas Cowboy head coach and quarterback didn't show up last night after winning to go to three and four.
So, Dak was asked the question that. The coach didn't really want to answer. Must win game. Is that the way you approached the Monday nighter in Philadelphia? I mean, I don't know if it's much more than we've lost two games.
We say the division's right in front of us. It is as long as we win. And you know, if you lose another game, then then you're probably checking to see what New York's doing. You're probably watching, you know, the other teams more than than we should.
So yeah, can't can't. Yeah, I mean, got to win the games. Got to win division games. Like I said, how big of a game this was. Understanding how how much they're hurt on on their offensive side, and yeah, huge road win for us.
And as I said, create momentum for us to go back home for the next couple of weeks. There you go.
Now they're going home, and guess who they're playing? The Arizona Cardinals. Two things. Two things. Cardinals are not home, where they haven't won in a very long time.
I'm seeing. A lot of posts about that online days or something, and they're in Dallas. You want to guess how many in a row the Cardinals have beaten the Cowboys? Oh, jeez! I want to say at least four.
That's correct. It is four, and three of them in Dallas. All of them this decade.
So after that, you put the schedule up. And the Dallas Cowboys are at Indianapolis.
Okay, they've got a late buy, so if they want to ride momentum, they want to stack. If they beat Arizona, it's their first winning streak of the season. They'll get back to 500 before they visit Indiana to take on the Indianapolis Colts, and then home for the 49ers, home for Tennessee. Home for Philadelphia that Thanksgiving Day game that we thought was going to be for the division. It may be for the Cowboys to keep pace with the Giants, or maybe overtake them because then there's a Monday night visit to Seattle, a bye, a Sunday visit out here to take on the Rams.
That Week 17 game home against the Giants that might be for the division. But the fact is. We're talking about the division for the Cowboys at two and five versus the four two and one Giants. That would be a tall order. And they're circling the wagons.
They're angry at three and four. Let's try that on for size. See if that works. But check the box. They won the game.
They had to win it. The offense looked much better, very balanced, very potent when they're balanced. And then defensively. Just keep improving if they can. As for the Philadelphia Eagles, they definitely can.
They just—I know that. As for the Philadelphia Eagles, now what? That's the question.
Now what? Two and five. Jalen Hurts is not walking through the door. Saquon Barkley's limping through the door. How about this for a stat?
He had a total of nine snaps last night. Nine touched the ball in every play. Seven on the ground, two in the air. He's the first starter in the last twenty seasons to have nine or more offensive snaps and get a touch on all of them.
So he might have saved some people's fantasy bacon last night. And you're wondering, is he going to play? Is he not? He does, and he scores a touchdown. Runs it in at 19 miles an hour.
Joe Buck said during the broadcast was the highest he's run a ball. This, you know. Fastest he's run with the ball this year, and then you could see he kind of hurt himself in the in that first drive, and he was game to fight through it. Damian Pierce carries it; he goes out. They already have Will Shipley out, Tank Bigsby out.
It's like the Spinal Tap drummer right now. Everyone's exploding, and Elijah Mitchell might be your starter moving forward. There, the offensive line did get Landon Dickerson back and their center, but. For what? For who?
Devonte Smith was out, and Dontavian Wicks was out. My gosh! You saw Macai Lemon score touchdown, right? You did see Hollywood Brown make an appearance, yeah.
So, when I say the now what, you're like, okay, you're Howie Roseman, you're Nick Sirianni. You got to sit here and go. If we get everybody back, okay. If Saquon can somehow fight through this and heal up and be Saquon, and if we get Wix and Smith and Lemon and Hollywood Brown going, that's what we planned for Hertz. And if the offensive line can stay healthy and get better.
There's something there. There, with the defense being, despite run all over on Monday night by the Cowboys, good enough. Or you're like you're two and five. The trade deadline's around the corner. Do we do what we very rarely need to do, or want to do, or should do, depending on how you look at it.
Pull the plug, start selling pieces off, get a bunch of draft picks, get a high draft choice of your own. That would suck. You'd have to live through all that. I mean, you pull the plug and you show up on Thanksgiving with fifty-some odd million people watching that game against the Cowboys and get run all over because you've taken some very talented players and sent them elsewhere for the future. That's tough.
It's a very, very difficult organizational decision. And then you reload real fast. You get Hurts back, if that's the the plan. You know, you we've heard from people on this show saying that might not be it. And then suddenly twenty twenty seven, you're back to being the Eagles, and you can road grade people with a bunch of young, and you get younger and better.
What do you do? What do you do? Do you make a trade for a quarterback? Look how that's infused life into the Giants. Do you do that?
You stick with Tanner McKee to see what you have in him. Do you throw Joe Milton out there as part of the whole pull the plug program? Why not? I don't know. This is up in the air.
Nick Sirianni, first blush after the game, gave you an idea of where he's thinking and leaning, and you. You can't be surprised about it. He's the head coach of these Eagles. I think back on the you know 2021 season, the way we finished that year, and I didn't say this to them, but I'm thinking about it right now. The way we finished that year propelled us into the future Eagles that we've been the last four years, and so.
Growth is important, and so we talked a lot about being the same version of ourselves regardless of the circumstances, and that football, you know, football is going to deal you some tough hands at times. But can you get up and keep fighting? You know, life's going to deal you some tough hands at times. Can you get up and keep fighting? No one's writing off anything.
I think the division's wide open. Obviously, it would have been nice to to get one tonight in a division game, but you know we didn't. Hats off to them.
So there you go.
Okay. In case you're wondering, the 2021 Philadelphia Eagles started. Wait for it. Two and five. Finished up seven and three, made the playoffs at nine and eight.
Went into Tampa, got one and done by somebody you might be familiar with. And then they go on a run. One and done in the playoffs. Go on the run, as you say to see here today.
So, can this team finish nine and eight? And I'll tell you what's not making the playoffs in the NFC. I don't think. Yeah, nine and eight. Nine and eight.
Just I think you need ten wins to make the playoffs in the NFC this year. The horses. I mean, you look at the way they got run over last night. That's not sustainable for a playoff team. But in case you're wondering, the trade deadline is November 10th.
That's after Week Nine play.
Next up is a Sunday night game that I I proffer to say the NFL and NBC got together and try to figure out how to flex out of this. Believe it or not, with all of the great Week Eight games that have got five win teams, six win teams playing, you know, four win teams and things like that, these games were either protected. Or they've already been nationally televised, like the Browns and the the Steelers. You can't have it again, or the Lions and the Vikings, who are slated to be nationally televised later this year. And I imagine.
NBC doesn't want to flex into this one to risk that one later in the year. Ravens Bills obviously protected.
So at any rate, that's why we're going to be seeing two and five versus one four and one coming off a buy, and that is basically like whoever wins that might be staying intact, and whoever loses that might be selling. I mean, that's the stakes for it. And then they've got a home gate against the Giants, after which there's a bye week to sit down and make your decisions. That's basically the Eagle season right now. I think, because you take a look: home for Pittsburgh at Dallas, home for Seattle, you know, Christmas Eve against Houston, Sunday nighter at San Francisco.
That one might get flexed out. There you have it. That's the Eagle season right now. Unfortunately, not of any of their own doing. Best laid plans, you know, out the window for many reasons.

Restrictions and fees apply. The Rich Eisen Show podcast. Vinny Pasquantino is here, Kansas City Royals first baseman, de facto baseball playoff correspondent and pundit for the Rich Eisen Show, and just for our radio audience because there's a ton of our affiliates in the the great state of Wisconsin. You saying that you went to Game One of the World Series, Brewers versus Rays, and you said that when you got there, there was no one in the parking lot. I don't know for for the gents here in the studio, and for everybody else around the country who are listening and watching, what a massive thing that is, because.
I've been to events in Wisconsin. I'm a Big Ten guy. I've met a lot of people from Wisconsin. Tailgating is basically a God-given, natural-born right for anybody in that state. And I was told the reason why the stadium is out where it is—the new stadium—and not in downtown—is the only spot downtown would have had no ability to tailgate.
Oh, so the Brewers were like, "We're gonna—we have to build it to a spot where." People are tailgating. I don't know if that's true or not.
So, but the fact that you went in. To the stadium easily because everybody was already in the stadium because of how psyched they were. That speaks volumes, Vinny. Yeah, it was it was incredible. Like there was there was a ton of tailgating going on after the game.
I drove back to yeah, so they backloaded it. You said they I drove back to Chicago after the game, which is about I don't know sixty miles or so, so about an hour give or take. Right, and we we were in the parking lot longer than the drive took, waiting to get out of the parking lot because there were so many people out there. Like it was. It was incredible, and then give voice again to the the guys that you took to the game.
I mean, a guy who's just had a a kid born and got the hall pass from clearly an outstanding individual on planet Earth who can who who can say I've got this. You go live out your dream. Yeah, so he lives behind me. His name's Jordan. I can see his house right now out of my backyard.
Yeah, he's he's on baby duty now. He told us all this morning he's he's fully on baby duty.
Okay, the the neighbor who would be. Directly behind me, where I'm sitting right now, to the left of my house, Jason. He went, and then the neighbor at the top of the cul-de-sac, Vincent. He went, and then Greg Domasie, who's a teacher at my high, or still is a teacher at my high school, James River in Richmond, who used to spend his summers in Wisconsin. Nobody could ever get a hold of him because he'd be kayaking or doing something in the, you know, hunting whatever he was doing up in Wisconsin.
So, and like I said with him, he was just going to go up to be in the city, just to experience Milwaukee. During the World Series, but he got to go and experience the World Series Game One, which was pretty cool. Love it, Vinnie Pasquantino here on the Rich Eisen Show. Why are the Brewers up three zero, Vinnie? They just seem to be better.
Like I think that's the easiest way to say it. They're they're you know they the Rays seem to have had a few unraised like things happen. Like what you know the mistakes in the field, Camonero kind of freaking out a little bit. In the dugout, you don't see things like that from a team like them a whole lot, and it just seems like the Brewers just they just seem to be the better team, at least at this moment. And you know, I saw this stat last night: the Brewers have faced in Game Three, they faced 175 pitches and swung and missed at 13 of them.
Yeah. That's which is, and that's typically the the Rays calling card. Not necessarily the Brewers. Obviously, the Brewers are known for putting the ball in play too, but they'll they'll strike out a bit more than than the Rays and make contact a little bit less. And yeah, I mean, if you can you can do things like that, and even the inning, the fifth inning, wherever where they scored all the runs, it was in a span of like ten pitches, like.
Of literal ten pitches, it was like two nothing, and and Boozer was at three pitches, and then it was eight nothing, and I think he was at fourteen pitches. I I might not be a hundred percent accurate there, but it was something like that where it was just they're they're putting the ball in play, making things happen, and they were able to score a bunch of runs. And I they didn't hit a home run in that span either. Like it was all just keep the line moving. Get a base hit.
Next guy get gets him over. I mean, it was just really good baseball that they're playing, and they're kind of a wagon and tough to they're tough to stop. Yeah, the number of times in that inning where a player went the other way with the baseball, with authority too. They weren't like bleed. They weren't bleeders.
They were on the screws and just smoking it. Where either they ain't or where they were. And couldn't get it because the I'm sure the the the miles per hour off the bat was triple digits almost every time, you know. Yeah, it was just it was one of those nights. Especially, I mean, they they had looked really good, obviously in Game One and Game Two, but last night felt like an exclamation point of the series of just all right, we're coming into your building first time since 2008 that the Rays have hosted a World Series game, and just kind of went in there and.
And beat them down, and it was just—it was one of those games where if it happens in July, you just throw it away. But it happened on the biggest stage in a game three, where you know obviously any team can come back at any given time, but there's one team that's come back from three zero before, so. Um, I believe that's still right.
So no, it's all right. It's all right. It's it's all right. You're you're you're tiptoeing around. Brockman's happy to give me that stat all around.
I I get it, Vinny. It's only happened once. Can you believe it? They've been playing baseball like all 150 years. Baseball's been played a long one time.
Yeah. All right. I'll take control back of this interview. What teams were involved again? I forget.
I'm getting older. What's it like though, Vinny, to come to the ballpark? Feeling like the the the ball is like a basketball. Pitchers feel like they are just one thousand percent playing catch. You know what what is that like?
Because it sure looks like the Brewers are doing that at the most important time. Yeah, well, for me, if you were asking any Royals fan, that only happens for me after we've been eliminated from the postseason. Oh come on! Your humility is always impressive. I knew I'd get something like that from you by asking it, but you've been you've you've been there.
Your team has gone on hot streaks before, you know. Yeah, it's we went through a stretch in August where I think we won seven or eight in a row, something like that. And it it it doesn't matter if you're winning or losing. Like going into the seventh inning, it just feels like you're going to win. And that's the magic you try to create, where it just doesn't matter what you do; everything's working your way.
When the other team hits the ball hard, you're getting guys out. When you hit the ball soft, you're getting on base. And when it happens in the playoffs, it's a it's it's that dangerous combination of like one, you're facing the best team in the league, and they're hot. Like there's there's just not much you can do about it. And obviously, the Rays are really good, but the Brewers are making them not look as good as they are.
Obviously, I mean, it's three three nothing, but. Obviously, I mean the Rays are not out of it by any stretch, but if you're the Brewers, you want to go ahead and do this thing tonight and just don't give them any room for hope. Because if you're Tampa, it's like okay, all we got to do is win today, and then tomorrow, all we got to do is win today, and you just keep that mantra going. And then next thing you know, you could look up and it's three to three, and you're in a game seven, winner take all.
So if you're the Brewers, you just want to capture that magic again tonight and just go ahead and finish this thing. Certainly, since if you finish this thing right now, you're you're up there with some of the all time great. Great teams in terms of performing in the in the postseason, eleven and one, and you know.
So, what are you hearing either through your your circles or from players that you know on the Brewers about Pat Murphy and what he's doing and what he's done and his his fingerprints on this, Vinny? Yeah, so I don't know Murphy at all. I know he's a A lot of people in the game know him from just how long he's been around, being in college. And I know that people always thought he should get a shot. And he's been in Milwaukee forever.
And when Council left to go to Chicago, it felt like, at least from things I've heard, I like I said, I don't know him personally. It just felt like kind of the this is the way that we should go. Is he should be the manager, and everything he does is based off accountability. From everything I hear, it doesn't matter who you are. Team meetings can be brutal, and it just kind of and in a good way.
I don't mean in a bad way. It just means like. Any anybody can be called out at any given time. You don't run the ball out. I think a perfect example was, and it's it's things that don't need to be celebrated because they're expected, but kind of the way things have gone.
And I'm not even saying in a bad way because there's injury management, there's things like that. But they're up ten nothing last night in the eighth, I believe, and South Frelick is running around first base on a fly ball to center field with two outs, like his hair is on fire. It's like it's ten nothing. The game is pretty much over, but you've got a guy who's still continuing to go one hundred percent. And again, it's not something that needs to be one hundred percent praised because that's the job is to play hard.
But when you have guys selling out to doing that on a nightly basis. It's just, and with the pitching that they have, with the ability to—I mean, these lights are flickering in my house.
Sorry about that. No, it's all right. That's that's that's just that's that's the Jets' offensive scheme that's flickering. It's not your lights, but ability to call timeouts at the right time, clock management, or just don't use them.
Okay. Um, but yeah, it's just from everything I hear about Murph is just he's he's going to hold you accountable, and From every from everything I hear, everybody loves him. Everybody wants to play for him. I know opposing players don't necessarily love him because he's not scared to to get in the mix with talking a little bit. And I think that's why his guys have his back as much as they do is because they know that he's there for him at all at all times.
What does it mean to have a a manager who can call anybody out? You know, and and you're you're in a team meeting, right? And everybody's head's got to be on a swivel. How how does that land? Yeah, I think it's important just because you can have hitters' meetings with or meetings with the hitting coaches, or if you're a pitcher.
Meetings with the pitching coaches, but at the end of the day, only one person writes the lineup. And if that person's going to get on you for something, and maybe takes you out of the lineup or changes things up, like that's the person. Nobody else matters really. And I know that there's a whole bunch of talk about front offices right in the lineup, right? We've talked about it a little bit, but at the end of the day, one person signs that lineup at the bottom, and it's the manager.
So if he comes in and gets on somebody, or even praise, like it could be positive too, like. That's that's the guy that makes the decision.
So if if he's pulling you or if he's calling you out, it just makes it. And and these managers, they don't come into meetings all the time. It's not it's not part of that gig because they've got to run the whole thing.
So when they do, it makes it just that much more meaningful.
So when you see that happen or you hear about that happening, you know that it it just means a little bit more when it's coming from that voice. All right, last one for you. We we haven't spoken since the the story broke that. Major League Baseball owners are putting on a table amongst many ideas that teams can get to choose who they play in the playoffs. You know, I choose you to take on the the task of beating me in a wild card round.
Like, do you like that idea? No, I think it's. I mean, I I'm all for any ideas, right? That's just not one that I personally would would like because it puts both teams in a weird spot. And then at some point, you you probably are just like, all right, one person is making this decision, and it's not going to be anybody involved with.
Like it's not going to be a player. It's not going to be the coaches. You you you're going to have a fall guy for that one because if you end up losing to the team that you picked to play, it just makes everything weird. It's easy bulletin board material. Like all the obvious things are very at play there.
Like if you're the oh you pick us, you want to play us, but how do you determine if it's just it's too much? Let's just I'm for reseeding and for making sure that like you know what happened this year in the playoffs and what's happened before where teams with the three best. Record can't play each other in the CS. I'm for that, the reseeding of for doing that, or maybe talking about maybe if you win the division, you automatically make the playoffs, but you don't. You don't necessarily get home games for it.
I think anything's on the table. I am just personally not for for picking your opponents. I think I hated it too, Vinny. I mean, I shouldn't say that because you didn't use the word hate. I just did.
I did not like it. I hate the idea because let's just say because t here is only four teams involved, right in in the wild card round.
So let's just say. Team three seated three chooses somebody from five six. That means team four gets the opponent chosen for them by another team. Yeah, the process of elimination, like that's absurd. That's absurd.
Any opinions I give are my own, not the union's.
Okay, that's that's great, and I appreciate you saying that. But yeah, you know what I mean, and like so, so a team that's as as fully together as it can possibly be, some team that just made a terrific run. The locker room is totally in unison. We're going in the playoffs as a one group, one unit, one mission, and now somebody makes a decision. Who you play?
You don't agree with it, but the guy sitting next to you totally is in favor of it.
Now, now it just it's it's weird. The whole idea is weird. It's just unnecessary drama that we don't need. Right? We like just just seed it.
Just seed it. If you want to reseed, fine. Just let's just go ahead and let's go ahead and just make it cleaner than picking picking your opponents. Vinny, you're the man. Good to chat with you, buddy.
Yeah, appreciate it, guys. Maybe maybe we'll see how free you are later in the in the week. You know when this thing's all settled.
Well, yeah, off season starts quick if it ends tonight. We got five more days until moves can be made, trades can be made. Let's go.
Okay, it's crazy. All right, I'm knocking on wood. There is an off season. Thank you, Vinny. You be well.
Yeah, appreciate it, guys. You got Vinny Pack. You got to pass on to everybody. All right, we got to take a break because during the final moments of that conversation. The first trade of the trade deadline period, if you will, because again I mentioned it's after Week Nine that the trade deadline hits in the National Football League.
It's now two games away, two weeks away. What a massive trade just went down, and it's one team pulling the plug. Yep, and it's another team saying. Let's go.
Let's do it. I love it. I can't wait to tell you about it. If you already don't, that's next. This is the Rich Eisen Show.

Okay, so I led the program with the Monday night game clearly, and for the Eagles portion of, if you will, take my take on that was now at two and five. The Eagles have to decide what do they want to do. You want to just roll the dice and see if you can go on some run, like Nick Sirianni said in 2021. They went from two and five to nine and eight, made the playoffs. I don't think nine and eight is good enough this year in the NFC because you've got everybody in the NFC North above 500, and you got a second place team out west.
That's you know. World champs, got the four and three now, and looking great on Sunday night. And that's how we now bring us to the breaking news here on the Rich Eisen Show of the first trade of the trade deadline season twenty twenty six. Here it comes. Christopher, what are the Seahawks up to?
My goodness! According to our buddy Tom Pelissero, Adam Schefter, and everyone else, we have a trade. The Colts' fire sale has begun. Quinton Nelson is going from Indianapolis to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 28 fifth rounder. What a move!
That John Schneider, man, eight-time Pro Bowler, possibly a future Hall of Famer, Quentin Nelson, one of the best guards there has been of late.
Okay, so let's take it one at a time here. Obviously, the Seattle end of things. If you are John Schneider and the new management, you are the new ownership there. You have an opportunity. Based on what we saw Sunday night, with that defense, and you see what's going on with your offensive line, your run game minus Kenneth Walker, but you've got your first round draft choice, Jajarian Price, running back, rookie.
Get it. Coming back from injured reserve, shortly window of open, yeah, practicing is opened. Zach Charbonnet and his twelve touchdowns last year. You know, we all do talk about. Hey, Kenneth Walker, they miss him, they miss him, they miss him.
Zach Charbonnet was the guy was vulturing him the entire time. Yep, to use the fantasy phrase, so he can score touchdowns. He can be a guy that puts it in the end zone from the red zone, and then Jackson Smith and Jigba. Is off to a better start statistically this year than he was in his Offensive Player of the Year season last year.
So things are cooking, and if you can protect Darnold, and you can give him just that split second more, and he was faster. They played faster on Sunday night, and you can also get the run game going. You can repeat, and it costs you a what? A third this year and a fifth the next. Get out of here.
Done.
Sold. Yeah, sold.
Sold. He didn't have to f picks. I mean, I understand a late night two, early day three pick when you are on the clock at. Kind of stinks that you're not there, but it doesn't matter if you got a second trophy in the case in a row, just like you thought you had lined up until that moment that we kept seeing over and over and over again prior to Super Bowl 60 last year, because it was the last time the Patriots and Seahawks played each other. Until that hit, you had two in the case ready to go.
So you've got an opportunity to get two in a case in a row again, and yeah, this guy goes and gets it done. Love this idea. Love it. Smart, smart use as well. Oh, do we need a running back?
No, we got one. You know what we need? Quint Nelson. We need top of the line offensive line. Top O the line O line smart move, great job.
Now then, the Colts. This is what the Eagles are going to have to look at. Colts are two and five. You know they bounced their general manager, and the guy who takes the role Ed Dodds. I guess they they talked about it.
You have to. You have to talk about it. Carly Ursey Gordon gives the green light here.
Okay, we need more draft choices. I know they're not ones like you gave up for Sauce, but you got to get more in. And the question is now: if Quentin Nelson's gone, is Jonathan Taylor next? He is the most valuable piece you have, but it is also the biggest piece that you could say to the fan base: we are definitely. Closing up shop for this year, tanking as you know in the NFL in my mind does not exist because there's still going to be 53 very lion-hearted men who have to go on the field and keep food on their table because they have to prove if not for this team then any other team you got to put on tape.
I'm a National Football League player of worth, not just physically but monetarily. That's the way the NFL works, and they're going to win football games. I get it, but you have to figure out to win the ultimate prize. Do you trade Jonathan Taylor? Is he next?
DeForest Buckner? Is he next? And if you want a running back, this is the guy you go get. Period. End of story.
Now, anybody could use Jonathan Taylor. You know, we could come up with a top five list of teams that should get Jonathan Taylor, and it would read like just like the Devonte Adams one that we had a couple years ago when the Raiders were coughing him up. Your team, your team, your team. Absolutely everybody. You know, your team.
For sure, yeah. Quinton Nelson should be noted is in the final year of his deal, so if Seattle's gonna, you know, they have to do re-up them. Oh, I get it. I totally understand that, and that might be one of the reasons why he's the first to go because he wasn't going to stay, and they weren't going to resign him or what have you. Seems like they were getting a lot of calls, and it kind of created a bidding war, and then they just moved fast.
And the bidding war is just the three and a five.
Well done, John Schneider. Yeah, very well done. And Colts fans, it has begun. And for Shane Steichen, you got to sit here and go. I don't know if it's begun for him too on the clock.
