Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome back to the No Contest Wrestling Podcast. I am the heel that you love to hate, O'Shea Jackson Jr. Hey, yo, it's me, it's me. It's that T-O-O-J-I-G-G-2 Jaguar, TJ Jefferson.

And we are, this is our first episode since the Rumble. Man, let me tell you something. We're back from Indy. Again, you know, got to give a shout out to WWE 2K25 for. Hooking us up.

That was That was just a great event. We got a great setup. Yeah. We got to talk to some great athletes. And we got to play this video game that has drawn me back into playing video games.

I gotta go get a system. Probably next week, whenever this game drops, because you and I are definitely getting back on these sticks. Yeah, you got me, but I ain't played in a while.

So I figure you give me like a month on these things. I'm taking, you're getting super kicked. I promise you. I'm listening right now, TJ. I play a lot.

Okay. I play a lot.

I've been a fan of 2K, you know, whether it be. Basketball or wrestling. They took really good care of us. I still can't believe it. Still can't.

Really, I wrap my head around exactly how successful we've been as a pod. I mean, we, of course, always knew. That we were going to be what we be. But it's just, we can't thank all of our supporters enough, the people that we ran into at Lucas Oil Stadium talking about the pod. That felt good.

I better be, I can't front, man, the fact that people would stop us and tell us how much they liked the pod. There was a guy who sat next to us who told us how much he enjoyed the positivity that we brought to this space, which was, you know, our whole thing. We got tired of the IWC, the bickering and the fighting. And we just wanted to be wrestling fans who it didn't care what company you work for, as long as you were wrestling, we were going to like it. And, you know, we wanted to like it and we wanted to talk about it.

And like I said, shout out to everyone who did, man. It's a humbling. I mean, for you, I think it's a little different. You've been in your position, you know, doing your movie thing. For me, you know, being on the Eisen Show is one thing, but like, it's truly humbling to have people stop you and tell you how much they enjoy what you're doing, man.

It's. It's really cool. Like you said, yes, I I've I've had success with film, uh whether that be with T V or with movies. But it's it's different when it's a It's another passion that you have, and the acceptance that wrestling fans is just the fact that they enjoy us. Talking.

At the end of the day, we're just some dudes who like wrestling, want to talk wrestling and like slightly obsessed with wrestling. For everybody to show love and the appreciation that you guys did, it means the world to us. And to the IWC. I say Yeah.

Now, I don't know if you know TJ, but there is a bunch of people in the IWC who are just so.

So angry that Jey Uso is your 2025 Royal Rumble winner, but I don't know if they noticed the last three times the crowd has asked for an encore of an entrance. Yo, when does that ever happen? Like there was one time right when Hogan came back I think it was right after like the rock match and he finally went back to the the red and yellow. Yeah. He was wrestling Triple H.

I do remember this. The ovation, the pop was so huge and so loud. It ran. They went to commercial.

So, commercial, what, two and a half minutes? Yeah. They came back. The crowd is still at like an 11. And I was like, wow, I've never seen this before.

To get asked to do your entrance again. One more time. I can't remember ever seeing that before. The only time I ever really saw this, and this was something unfortunate, was WrestleMania one year when Batista came out and he tripped getting into the ring. Do you remember?

So what they did was right at that moment, they had him run it, run it back, and he went back out the ring and then came back in clean. I guess that's what they put on all the videos going forward. But in terms of like them wanting to hear your entrance again and you get to rewind it, man. And I don't understand this. I'm starting to hear this like the last two weeks that the IWC is bitching.

But guess what? Have you seen Paris, France? Do you remember that? Do you remember any card that Jey Uso is on? This man.

Is Daniel Bryan levels over right now? Yeah. You know, I think what Gunther said is he's gonna put He's gonna put pain on this man for the next six, seven weeks. And I think Jay is gonna get roughed off for about two months. But That moment When that three count hits and that man wins, becomes world champion, I'm telling you what, I got to be in the building because it's going to be a moment that we haven't seen, I think, literally since WrestleMania 30.

Absolutely. And, you know, when it came to that first crowd right after the Rumble in Cleveland. When he stood in that ring for, I think it was 12, 14 minutes, and he just couldn't get the words together. You know, he was one of the realest promos you'll hear. He was fighting back tears.

What people have to understand is like. This is his family's shit. Like, this is. This is how he ate. Yeah, like the things that Rikishi or his uncles or whoever had to miss and not be a part of because they're out providing for the family for him and his brother's lives to be intertwined and get to wrestling, have the success that they had, and then for him to be able to break out and have dreams that he never even thought for himself.

Being a solo star and to get to where he is right now, the. The ovations that he gets, I cannot blame this man for taking the time that he needed because there's no way he doesn't get choked up. Jey Uso is he's too real for your TV. Yeah, so we are, man, we are extremely happy for you. This is a Jey Uso friendly pie.

So, whenever you're ready, brother, yeet.

So, the IWC, bro, get glad, bro. Get happy that you get to see somebody who's been in the business 15 years and about to do it. In our opinion, this is a payoff. This is, you know, a reward for. Time well spent, as they say.

And you got to think about this. You look back, Jimmy, right? Yeah. Big Jim. Big Jim had this.

I guess this reputation of Jimmy never got hurt. For a solid 10 years, Jimmy never missed time. He never got hurt. And then the one time he gets hurt. It's when The whole bloodline thing starts to kick up during the pandemic.

And then Jay had to go out on his own and he had to kind of find himself. And that just goes to show you what Roman Reigns did, you know. Elevated someone. He was already on his way up, but I've heard him say: this means nothing if I can't. Build somebody.

Main event, Jey Uso. The I'ma get him Jey Uso. You know, that guy, the, you know, the barking sidekick. Yeah. At first.

broke out into his own and Does this happen if Jimmy doesn't get hurt? I don't know. Yeah, we know. The whole bloodline thing could have been different. But it is what it is, and I'm here for it, and it's excitement, man.

When he came down This week, he came down through the crowd. And he pulled the two kids out. Yeah, which is okay. Such an awesome. He pulled the first kid out and he did it and he pulled the second kid out.

And he stood and he looked at the kid and he's like, You ready? And the kid started doing it. And it was that moment I was like, It's over. It's over. I have to be inside of that building when this happens because it is going to be.

a moment man and You know, it kind of stinks sometimes. And I guess we couldn't say this because they could still pull the rug out from us. You never know, man. That's going to happen. It'll break your heart, bro.

It's one of our favorite questions. We thought it was Cody and Roman last year. And then, you know, so we really don't know. But as of right now, I'm all in for Jay, but we'll see. I don't know.

You know, we don't got the pencils. And what we also don't know is what's going on with Charlotte Flair now. What I love about the veteran mind of Charlotte, because they tried in that same Cleveland crowd, they come out. Yeah, to come out, you know, I missed you guys. I love you guys so much.

And she was able to read the room. And she was like, hell no, I'm not about to force this promo. Nope. No. Oh, you want to boo?

I'll make you remember what you booed, bro. And that right there is Charlotte with the fangs that we need. And I love how she was able to flip it. I loved how she was able to flip that and remind them: oh, no, I'm here. I'm here now, but we don't know who she's going to pick.

Yeah. She, you know, we've seen her go the NXT route before, which was crazy. Like, you know, no one saw that coming. Whatever gold she wants, she's going to go get it. You know, so she wants an IC title.

Does she want that U.S.? Like you asked Roman, do you want to add the World Heavyweight Championship to the mantle? Maybe I don't think she will, but maybe Charlotte wants to add the U.S. or the IC title just to keep collecting belts. Who knows, man?

Yes. But it's still something to see. I personally am happy to see Charlotte Flare back, whether it be face or heel, but it's nothing like having a Vader. Nothing like having a Vader walking around that like it keeps you on the edge of your seat because you know at any time And anytime she could get closer to that record, or of course, everybody loves when the heel loses, except for Roman at WrestleMania 40. I refuse to say that was the right choice, but happy to see both of them back.

Yeah. I mean, back.

Well, happy to see Charlotte back. Happy to see both of them at the top at the end of the Royal Rumble. And, you know, we'll see what's in store. But, you know, we're talking about. What's happening in the present right now?

We need to talk about the future. We got a guest today, bro. Yeah, man. We got a guest today, ladies and gentlemen. Fans of the No Contest Wrestling Podcast, the prodigy Roxanne Perez will be joining us today on NCW.

Yeah, and my we're talking that XT, man. You watched last night, right? Bro, I mean, I saw her come out in that Bailey, Bailey Fit. That Bailey Fit was right. XT was really good last night, man.

It was a really good episode. You know, kind of like the the going home episode before a big paper. You got Vengeance Day this Saturday? Yeah, I just kind of want to run down that card a little bit. Core J defeated Bailey.

I got to be honest, I did not see this coming. I mean, I guess I should have seen it in the big picture coming. But for Corey to beat Bailey, I don't know. That just, I was like, Oh, okay. We can't act like Bailey wasn't distracted.

Really was distracted. Yeah, you know, you heard that. Yeah, I was out, bro. If them balloons was in the air, I would have lost. I would have snapped.

Yeah, Roxanne coming out, cosplaying a hugger gimmick. Bailey threw Bailey off of her off of her game. And then, to be honest, Corey, those two DDTs on Bailey. Yeah, one on the floor. I had to like, I was pausing.

Like, I think she really japed the snake throw on this one, rolled her in, dropped her again, and got the win.

So now we got a fatal four-way right at uh. This Saturday for the NXT women's champion, Julia, Bailey, Roxanne, and now Cora Jade, man. That's going to be an interesting, interesting match. And then I got to tell you something else, man. The six-man tag team match was surprisingly.

I'm not a fan of six-man tags. Full disclosure, when the match just got announced, I was like, okay, I don't know how interested. Within five minutes, I was like, this match is damn.

So, first of all, we got Hank and Tank, who I'm, you know, they're growing on me a little bit. And then you got Tavion Heights. A g And Miles Bourne. has completely just gone full on Randy Orton. And I haven't watched NXT.

I think I missed the last three weeks, unfortunately. I don't know if he's done, like he fully cosplayed Orton fully until this week, but the head shave, the tights. The hand tape, Miles Borden is completely Randy Orton 2.0. And so those two, the no-catch, I like that crew. I'm kind of down with them a little bit.

It felt like a showcase of everybody. Yes, man. And then, um. By the way, old boy saw them Kyle Fletcher memes and was like, nah. Right.

And Yoshiki and Amora. I love this guy. I didn't know much about him. Like a little mini sumo wrestler, you know, him and Briggs, I guess, you know, they've been working together recently. Like I said, unfortunately, I haven't watched NXT in a few weeks, but I'm.

All into this dude, he has maybe. One of the best splashes I've ever seen. And if you missed it, look for the replay and watch this dude splash. It is. Vicious, it's high-flying, it's violent.

Like I said, he's like a sumo wrestler, but kind of shrunk down a little bit. But like his offensive arsenal consists of him doing, like, you ever see Honda, man. I was digging that. You know, we also had the Don Tony D. He defended the North American Championship in a cage against Rich Holland.

I know, I know how you feel about Rich Holland. You know, you're so sad. Ever since who was it that picked Tony Oba? By the way, three people picked the Don't watching him. I'm like.

Yeah, this dude scraped just something about them picking him that has made me really appreciate him a little bit different for exactly straight up, and then you had um Zarya and Nikita lines with that. First of all, I got to agree with Booker T. The Zarya and Saul Roka tag team. I'm not sure. Like I said, I haven't seen it in a few weeks.

Maybe it makes sense, but just at first sight, I was like, eh. But then. Booker T, man, bro. When I tell you, put this man on the dollar bill. Poke tea on the dollar bill.

When Nikita Lyons is in, and I don't know how long she's been using this nickname either, but she's in the locker room. She calls me something. Big drink some water. Wait a second, I can do this. Yeah.

Big cat kita.

Okay, honestly. View mouth. What are we talking about? Big cat Keena. And I was like, okay.

And then her and Zarya goes out there and Booker's yelling. Come on, big cat. Come on. I was losing my mind. Big cat Keena.

I promise we're professional. You gotta love it. But that was that was Big E must have loved that man. Big meaty men slapping me. No, big meaty women slapping me.

Those two, that was a female hoss fight that they put on. And Zarya got the win, man. But yo, that Booker T, I love you, dog. My man, that is a guess that I'm dying to give because he be on the board. He be on no guard.

Come on, big cat. Come on. That was great, man. But yeah, so that was NXT. Really good, really good episode last night.

I dug it. Oh, Lexis King defended the Heritage Cup. They got some new rules there. They're hairbanded. I'm telling you.

Put your hairband at Lexus King. Yo, his barber man. The precision is crazy. It needs to be. Yeah, but not on him.

I swear it changes all the time, bro. It's like, you know, in Grand Theft Auto, when you go to the barber shop and it's just like, how did he add hair? It's just Lexus King is all over the place. But the thing I like about NXT, they're in such a good place right now. We see the numbers that they do.

Obviously, being on the CW helps, but it makes you excited for the Raw Aftermania. Because after Royal Rumble, the Raw After Mania is where you really see the direction that things are going to go.

Something I want to talk to. Um, Roxanne Pereira is about is you know when they showcase you in the rumble.

Something good's gonna happen. You remember when Bianca eliminated like 13 people and where that sent her? For Roxanne to be in that rumble for as long as she was, exciting things are going to happen. But the Raw After Mania, I have to see who's getting called up, bro. Oh, yeah, but we got long time to that.

I know, but like, it's in the back of your head. As a wrestler fan, we're getting to the road to WrestleMania. And that Raw After Mania, I'm... We might have to stay in Vegas, bro. We haven't even talked mania cards yet.

Now you're thinking Raw Act. Because NXT makes me think, like, who do I want to be up? Like, I need y'all to be up. All right. Yeah, it's happening, dude.

It's happening.

So I said, you know, it was a great episode. I guess nothing really happened. Oh, wait a second. What the f No. That man came out.

Bro, okay. Please don't screenshot that. That man. No, please. I want the screen.

I want that. Rick, I don't know what his name is. I know I know him as Ricky Starks. Yeah. You know him as Ricky Starks.

Yeah. I don't I Personally, I hope they keep the name. I saw that they trademarked a bunch of names, and I'm thinking, oh, I hope none of these are him. But yo, Ricky Starks is now an NXT. The day he got released from AEW, look, I tried to be completely.

Impartial, unbiased. I love all wrestling, but man, like. When you Have guys like Ricky Starks right there, dog. Yeah. And then you're trying.

to play the catch-up game. You're trying to. you know, compete. Yeah. And you just let these guys.

Walk away? To the competition? Like I said, I'm not trying to do that whole thing, but man, you got to be like this dude. Like Enzo Amori said, this dude he's a... He's a superstar.

He takes me to worse showers. You know what I mean? Like. The crowd felt, and mind you, it was a small crowd, but it was perfect. Would he have gotten that same type of pop at a main event?

Probably not, because the NXT crowd, that's the crowd that really loves watching wrestling. They watch all different types of stuff. That's why it's better to debut people there who come from other companies. But man, If he's Ricky Starks, great. Whatever they're going to call him, this guy.

He can wrestle. And he is money on the microphone. Right. Okay. There is a charisma from AEW where, you know, everyone says how MJF's the best talker, the best hill.

There is a promo that, in my opinion, a few years ago, Ricky Starks just took his lunch and ate it. And then. You know, walked on his couch with his shoes on. If you don't know Ricky Starks, folks, you're in for a pleasant surprise. This dude is.

Next, and I can't wait to see it. And you know, also, O'Shea, before we get to Roxanne, I think she's almost ready. You know, unfortunately, there's always that time when there's a lot of releases. Yeah. And you hate to see people lose their jobs, lose their livelihoods.

But that's what's beautiful about having options now. People have other places that they can go and provide for themselves, provide for their families, work on their craft.

So it's going to be interesting to see where some of these. people who have gotten release end up. You know, um. Is it AEW? Is it TNA?

Do some go to Japan? I don't know, but like. The great thing is they have options. Yeah, and you know, you never know. Where The path is going to take you.

You never It's never really goodbye when it comes to wrestling. Uh When I think about a A person like Drew McIntyre. Who was out of the company, went out, did his thing, came back as the Drew we know. Cody Rhodes, same thing. You know, it's got to be hard for everybody involved.

Man, I remember. The day when I found out Aleister Black was gone and you know, he turned to Malachi, but bro, I was hurt. Yeah. You know, I was hurt because you see when Tony Storm left, like when like you, you see potential in people. You, we all fantasy book as fans on where we think that they should go, but there's so much talent and there's so many things and that go into it, whether it be just either the, they don't, the cog doesn't fit in the machine quite yet, or there needs to be changes that really hasn't happened aesthetically, or whether no matter what it is, it's something that.

The company feels like they want to go in a different direction, but it's important that everybody involved doesn't let this be the end-all, be-all. Keep your dream, keep going forward with your passion of wrestling because you never know where it's going to end you, what type of success it might lead to. And Fans of the WWE Universe, we might see you again down the road. But much love, much respect to everybody who had to be cut during this time. Heart goes out to you.

Yeah, and also to play it the other way, too. You know, also, there have been people WWE has given up on and let go who have gone on. You know, Moxley, he was a star there, but. He Kind of got bigger in AEW. Maybe I don't know.

That's for you guys. You tell me when you see this. Do you think he has? But Tony Storm, without question. I don't know that that character, obviously, that character doesn't have.

But I think she left, though. I'm saying that I said people leaving there and going. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So you're right. She asked for a release, but she became bigger going to AEW just because that character, which came from that company, I don't know, obviously, that would have happened in WWE.

So, you know, it works both ways, you know, and. Mm. People are, I guess, where they should be. Things happen for a reason. Before we bring Roxanne, I just want Roxanne.

I just want to drop one nugget. Judgment Day was saying that Dom said to Finn, maybe we need another member. And I realize a guy whose name you brought up that we are both big fans of. Remember when Judgment Day started with Edge? It kind of had that dark, sinister kind of feel.

And then they took Edge out, which I wasn't a fan of because I wanted to see where he could go with it. Yeah. You saying they might need a little bit more black? They could need a little black. Aleister Black could be on his way back.

With Aleister Black, I kind of feel now. The new Judgment Day, as it's currently comprised, I don't know. Maybe there's some subtractions, maybe there's more additions, but I feel like, man. Him and that faction, you can make him a little darker. Just don't mess with Carlito.

We really like Carlito. Carlito's nice. Carlito was nice to us. Yeah. Please don't beat up Carlito.

Who knows, man? Maybe he takes some time off. Maybe he does, but that's just a spot for him. Yeah, I mean, I have been on record saying when I saw things like The Judgment Day, I hated that Aleister Black wasn't part of it.

So, you know, once again, we're just fantasy booking. I mean, we're talking about some of the things that we're just some guys in chairs. You know, just like you at home. And I'm sure in the comments are going to let us know. Plus, yeah, tell us, give us your thoughts who you think.

Judgment. AJ Styles is back, right? By the way, I got to say this too. I was today on this show preparing for no particular reason whatsoever just to drop the name Isla Dawn. And unfortunately, she was one of the ones that got released.

I, you know, me, and I think you do. Huge Island Dawn fan. I can't wait to see where she looks, man. I'm just saying, I know.

Well, she got to know she's got fans out here. That's right. That's right. That's right. So, you know, but seriously, for everyone who got released, like you said, I hope it works out for you at some point.

And I can't wait to see where you all go next, man. Yeah. I think it's time, though. I can see we're getting a notification. Exactly.

Alrighty. Auto parts. Ladies and gentlemen. It's guest time. Our next guest has been called Many Things.

She's a Women's Iron Survivor winner. Yep, women's breakout tournament winner. She did that. She was super women's superstar of the year last year. Check.

She is a former tag team champion, a two-time TJ. How many? Two-time NXT women's champion. She is a lover of Chick-fil-A, a hater of Burger King, bringer of headaches, bringer of problems. But she's not all bad because she's handing out pop rocks all over the women's locker room.

And also, Shay, on Saturday the 15th, she's looking to become not the one-time, not a two-time, but a Three-time NXT women's champion. Ladies and gentlemen, the prodigy. Roxanne Perez, welcome to the pop. Hello. Thank you for the intro.

Yes, of course. Thank you for being here with us. And now, first, before we get into business, I got to talk about, I got to talk about the hugger cosplay. I got to talk about coming out as the hugger. What a heel move.

Take us through the mind games that went through that move. I mean, it was perfect, wasn't it? You know? I think I think Bailey uh tries to act like, you know, she's got it all under control, but I I you saw the look on her face. She shook a little bit.

I think she was a little yeah, she was a little shook. And I kind of helped my best friend win too, so it was a win-win. Are you guys still best friends? Because I was just about to say that. You know, because those are the some of the two most dangerous words in restaurants.

Well, I mean, you make a comment, you know, and then she makes a comment, and then you kind of stare at each other. And I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I'm fine. I don't know about her.

I I'm fine. She seems a little upset, but I I'm fine.

Okay. Yeah, now as wrestling fans, we know.

Some of the two most dangerous words in wrestling are best friends.

So that's either going to be a dynamic duo, or we know that it's going to lead to turmoil. For the next decade and a half. Yeah, so we know that you can't necessarily, you don't want to give out your strategy, but can you tell us a little bit about what's going through your mind and what can we expect from this fatal four-way that's going to be happening at Vengeance Day? Yeah, I mean, there's definitely a lot of animosity in this four-way. I can see the tension between me and Cora, but I think we're going to be fine.

We've been best friends for years and years and years.

So I think that'll settle itself. There's a lot of animosity between me and Bailey. A lot of animosity between me and Julia. She took my title. My title, because she's holding my title, which I will give back this Saturday.

But yeah, I'm not worried one bit. I'm more focused than I've ever been, more motivated than I've ever been.

So I'm gonna go to Vengeance Day. I'm gonna beat all three of those women, become a three-time, then I'm gonna go to Raw. Win my title, and I'm gonna beat Raquel Rodriguez, and I'm gonna go to the elimination chamber, and then I'm gonna win that, and I'm gonna go to WrestleMania and become. double chin. Oh man, I love when we have heels.

She's got it all figured out. You know, Roxanne, what I'd like to do is I always like to get to know our guests by going in the Wayback Machine. You know what I mean? So tell me, man, when did this love affair with wrestling start? Like, what was the moment that kind of sucked you in and made you start to love this thing?

So I clearly remember I was watching TV with my stepdad and he's slipping through the channels. I'm like 10 years old and I had known The Rock from his movies, not necessarily from wrestling.

So he's flipping the generals, and The Rock is cutting a promo on. Monday Night Raw and I was like, whoa, whoa, wait, stop. Like, what is this? And I stayed watching his promo, I was blown away, and then I stayed watching the rest of the show, and I was just hooked. Um, and after that, I saw the woman perform, which they only had maybe like two-minute matches.

But from those two-minute matches, I could just see like the athleticism, and I could see. Through like the TV, I'm gonna see how they wanted more. And I knew they wanted to do more. There was Roar Rumbles, there was money in the banks, but there wasn't any for the woman. And I just had this feeling that one day it could possibly happen.

And when I was 13 years old, I started training to become a wrestler in Laredo, Texas. I was trained under George Benavides and Johnny Angel. And then I transferred to Booker Ts. When I was 16 years old, I started taking Greyhound buses. Pretty much Every other week, every month, to just go down there in Houston, five hours from my hometown, and train just to get better.

And Two years later, look at me now. I'm... I'm a WWE superstar and Booker T is commentating all my matches. You know, I was gonna say this for a little later, but since you brought it up now, I'll pull the question up now. Share with us what Booker T.

Has meant to you, what that relationship has meant to your career and you know your personal life.

So much. Yeah, it's funny you say my personal life because I feel like Booker T has done so much for me, not just as a wrestler, but as a person as well. I walked into his school at 16 years old, and he could have just not really taken me too serious, but he did from the moment he saw me. Him and Charmel, they took me under their wing and they were kind of like second parents to me in a way. And yeah, Booker T saw something in me that not a lot of people saw.

And at... 17, 18 years old, I become his. Became his youngest reality of wrestling women's champion in history.

So. At 18 years old, I was already making history. But yeah, Booker T has been so awesome. And it's really cool that I think it was a few months after I got signed to the WWE, they signed him as an NXT commentator. that was really awesome.

I think especially coming into WWE and feeling really nervous, excited but nervous, and then being able to have my mentor there with me made it the process so much easier.

Now I've I I heard on a pod you did, I think you were speaking with Corey Graves, that there's a situation. Where you weren't necessarily ready for your entrance over at Reality of Wrestling. For those who don't know, can you take us through that story? Yeah, uh okay, so I had a match against a woman named Rachel Rose, and we are in the back and I was like, uh Can you go check what matches on right now? And she's like, Yeah, sure.

She leaves, and I have one boot on, and I'm lacing it. And she runs in. She's like, Your music's playing. And I was like, What? You're kidding.

She's like, No, your music's playing. I was like, Oh my God. I was like, Tell them, tell them that I'm not ready. I don't know. So I'm like lacing my boot, freaking out.

And I just hear Booker from down the hall, What the hell? And I was like, I was like, oh my god.

So I keep unlacing my boot and he walks in. He's like, what's going on? He starts yelling. I'm like crying. I'm like, I'm so sorry.

And I'm trying to go as fast as I can. The girl I'm wrestling has to go out and cut a promo. He walks out of the room and I hear him down the hall. This is what happens when you think you're over. I don't even.

We had a really, really good match.

So I came to the back and he passed by me. He's like, you redeemed yourself, kid. Oh, nice. That must have been like, yeah, way to kill it. Yeah, I was like, ooh.

Okay. You get fired from reality wrestling. I've seen you do pay homage to. The famous backstage situation or promo where Shawn Michaels kicks Stan. But I've also seen, you know, Booker T, we famously fought Stone Coast Steve Austin in the grocery store.

Now, I'm seeing it. It wasn't quite a grocery store, but I've seen you tear up an establishment or two. Can you take us through what it's like having those backstage brawls? How fun it is, how dangerous can it be? Is it just chaos?

Do you map it out? What's it like being a. out the ring putting on a braw. It's all of those three actually. You know, sometimes you do map it out.

Sometimes you map out certain parts, but the other parts you're just like, all right, we'll just see what's around and we'll just just go for it. Those are always so fun. Those are one of my favorite things to do. And then being able to pay homage too, that's the most fun that I've... had doing all of this because obviously I wasn't necessarily born around that time.

So people think that I don't know about all of these things that happen or these segments, but I've definitely done my research. I'm a hardcore fan.

So I've seen all of those segments happen and being able to be the one to recreate those segments. It's really really cool. You graduated from Reality of Wrestling, you moved on the Ring of Honor. And at 19 years old, you became the youngest. and the inaugural ROH Women's World Champion.

Let's talk about your time there. What did you learn? How much did you grow from being able to hone your craft and ring of honor? Oh, I learned so, so, so much. I'm very thankful for the time that I had there because I'm not too sure if I would have been as ready as I was stepping into the WWE if it wasn't for my time in Ring of Honor.

Maria Canales and Bobby Cruz, they were the two people that were in charge of the women's division. They're just awesome, especially Maria Caneles. She's another person that as soon as she saw me, as soon as she saw my work in the ring, she was like, that's the girl, that's the one. I definitely know that WWE noticed me b because of Me becoming the inaugural women's champion.

So, yeah, I owe a lot of that to Maria and Bobby and Yeah, that that's A really, really good time in my career. I look back at it with a lot of a lot. I'm just so grateful for that.

Now you've been As you say, you've been training since you were 13, which is just nuts, TJ. That is insane. World champion at 19. Yeah, that you're like, okay, the prodigy is real. Five-hour bus rides and everything.

But I want to know. When was your welcome to wrestling moment? When was there either a bump you took where you were like, wow, or, you know, just. You know, we had Braun Breaker on and he told us just about the travel and having to do, you know, five events in a week. What was your Welcome to Wrestling moment?

Um so I remember being Yeah. Probably fifteen or sixteen years old, and I Was at a wrestling show, and I was a manager for my trainers. People, my dog. I was a manager for my trainers at the time, and I had to do a spot where They wrestled these two probably six foot something giants. And I had to take a choke slam, a double choke slam from these two dryers.

And I was not ready for that. I definitely was not ready for that because I remember taking that bump. All the wind got knocked out of me. It did not feel good. And for like a week after that, It was a little hard to walk.

Like, my body was just not like, I remember trying to go for a jog, and I was like, took a few steps out of my house, and I was like, never mind, I'm going back. And I was like, wow, this wrestling thing, people try to say it's, it's, it's worked, it's fake, but that pain is not fake at all. Absolutely not.

Now, another thing. You know, you're on NXT. Obviously, everybody's trying to show off their moveset. You know, you spoke about the choke slam and how that felt, but everybody's trying to show off their moveset to try to show their uniqueness and show what they got to get bumped up to the main roster. Is there somebody on the NXT rosters who's.

Whether it be their signature or a hold that they do, that you are just not excited to take. On the main roster? On main or NXT. Anyone that you face. Yeah, anyone that you face, really.

Honestly. Um Raquel Rodriguez is Finished kind of scares me a little bit.

So I'm going to do every single thing that I can to make sure that she does not hit me with that.

Okay, definitely looking for that on raw. No, you know, we talked about Cora before, and you know, you questioned why we would question whether you two were friends or not. I'm going to take you back a little bit, uh, Great American Bash. You two become the NXT women's tag team champions, and then. Cora turns on you and trashes her belt.

So I think you can understand why we're just a little like, you know, Not sure. Don't worry about you. Don't worry about you. I don't know how this friendship's working out. You know, what was that like to win a tag team belt and then have your partner just.

Kinda Turn? Not even kinda, just turn on it. Yeah, no, kinda. I mean, that definitely was probably one of the worst things that ever happened to me in my career because me and Cora came up together. We always said that we would become WWE Tag Champs together.

Uh, and then to have her kinda stab me in the back was Very painful, um, both physically and mentally. Um But I forgave her, and I kind of, once I lost my NXT Women's Championship for the first time and kind of had a A change of of heart on how I should be. on how I should be navigating my career. I kind of realized, okay. Yes, she did something wrong, but I can see why.

I can see that she wanted to make a name for herself. I can see that, you know, she just she wants the success. She wants to be the best. And I feel the same. I want to be the best.

And maybe that's why we kind of butt heads every now and then. But If I could forgive her for that, I think she can forgive me for saying that. She got pinned and not me, which it was true. I was just stating facts. She got pinned and I didn't.

I mean, we know, we obviously know the history of that backstabbing, but I know somebody who would never backstab you. What's going on with that pup behind you? Yeah, who's that? Yeah, who's that? This is my dog.

Oh, this way. Why wait? Wyatt, yeah, he's a golden, he's the best. What's up, Wyatt? Yeah.

What a chill dog. He's the chillest ever. Yeah, Wyatt. How old is he? He's one years old.

Oh, okay. Oh, man. That's a big quick. What's a good boy? It was bigger than me.

Okay, so we know. who has Stab her in the heart. We know who won't stab her in the heart. I need to know, as a fan, because you've been a longtime fan, when was the first time wrestling broke your heart? For me, when I go back, I think about when I was a kid watching Stone Cold and Vince McMahon team up on the rock, WrestleMania 17.

So, like, what's one of those moments that? Wrestling broke your heart as a fan, of course. See, for me, and being older. Yeah. Very little kid, but I can remember watching Iron Sheik put Bob Backlund in a camel clutch and he won the WWF title.

And I didn't, I couldn't understand. I couldn't understand what I told him. I was too little to fully, but I was like, no, man.

So that was my moment. Honestly, uh I think when When Brock Lesnar broke the Undertaker's streak. Yeah. Okay. That's the second time we got the streak, man.

It just broke my heart. You know, just watching it happen in real time, I was like, there's no way. There's no way. It's been going forever and ever and ever. Yeah.

That was pretty sad, honestly. Yeah, that's the same thing. And another moment was: yeah, I always rooted for AJ Lee and CM Punk. I thought that they were the best couple ever. And when AJ Lee pushed him off of the top rope and he fell into the table, that kind of broke my heart a little bit.

I was like, no, why? Yeah, Phil's going to love hearing that, right? Let it go now. Right. Happily ever after.

Now, Roxanne, you briefly touched upon winning your first NXT Women's Championship, and that came after you won the inaugural. Iron Survivor Challenge.

Now three days after that. You face Mandy Rose, you win the title. That was a really quick turnaround. Tell us about that time, and you got. The call, so to speak, that you were going to be over?

What was the feeling? What were you feeling? thinking at that point. I remember freaking out. I was obviously, I got told the day of.

Uh Yeah. Probably like a few hours before the show started, and I was not expecting that one bit. Obviously, it was. Everything that I ever worked for, everything that I ever wanted. It was my first singles title in the WWE.

And it was finally happening. I remember getting out of the room, and if Sean Ziza, sorry, but he told me, don't tell anybody. And I ran to Core Jade, and I was like, yes, what's happening? And she was, I was like, don't tell anybody. She was freaking out with me.

I called my mom. I was like, you need to be watching tonight. Yeah, that was insane. And I remember winning and literally. Just crying as soon as they handed me the title.

Oh, even the feeling I get right now, like sitting there and then bringing them the title to me and seeing Booker T in the aisleway. It was just like, wow, every single thing that I've done to get here was so worth it. All those five-hour bus rides by myself on the Greyhound where I was scared for my life. The times where I didn't think that. Maybe it wouldn't happen.

The times where I was so stressed out because. It was just a waiting game of like, okay, I started really young. I'm 13 years old.

Now I'm 15.

Now I'm 16. I still can't get the opportunities because I'm not old enough, but I see the people around me getting the opportunities. And I just wanted to hold on to the fact that, like, okay, one day it's going to happen. I know it's going to happen. And That solidified everything.

All the hard work was so worth it. And I was just, you know. Um 20-year-old kid from a small town called Laredo, Texas.

So it's so possible.

Now, I mean, I was just about to ask you, what did it feel like to go home with the title? But that was perfectly summed up. I mean, to be able to go home. With that belt. Going to sleep and waking up and realizing it wasn't a dream.

I couldn't imagine that. feeling it it's got to be the best feeling in the world are we right Oh my god, best feeling in the world.

Now, absolutely. That's the NXT title. Mm-hmm. She was pretty close to going to WrestleMania main eventing. Take us through breaking the record.

For the Women's Royal Rumble, and what it's like to be in that chaos for that long. My gosh, an hour. Honestly, it didn't even feel like an hour. Um the Royal Rumble was one of my favorite favorite pay-per-views to watch growing up. uh it was obviously wrestlemania and then roar rumble so The very first year I got signed, I was able to be a part of it, and that was insane.

I was only in it for a little bit, but that was insane. Then last year, only in it for a little bit, but still insane. And then this year, I broke the record for being the woman to last the longest in the Rumble, and that was absolutely insane. And then To be the last two standing? With Twilight Flutter?

14-15 time world champion like I think that that definitely proves to everybody that I am what I say I am. I'm the prodigy and I I don't know if the the main roster girls are ready for me. Um it's also very crazy. I was thinking about it and um Just the way that everything goes full circle. The first time that I ever went to a Royal Rumble, I was an extra.

I was still an indie wrestler. And I remember sitting on the very top of a suite. watching The Royal Rumble and I watched Charlotte Flarewyn. And Few years later. I'm watching Charlotte Flarewyn on the floor after she just eliminated me.

So. You know, it just proves that that that You know, hard work, it really pays off, and I'm going to prove that I am the best woman in that division. You know, it's crazy. You just made me remember something as you said that. We were sitting right behind Michael Cole at the Royal Rumble.

I remember I took a picture of you, and just now I just now thought about it. You were leaning up against. The announce table, and you're staring at Charlotte. And I've got this great picture of your battery. And I'm like, and I wanted to put it on Instagram and title The Future, the Present.

And I completely forgot about that picture. I got to post that picture. But yeah, and you know, for you, oh, you lasting four minutes in your first Rumble to going what 67 minutes in this one. That was truly, truly an accomplishment. And I got to be honest with you.

I think people kind of thought Charlotte was going to win. We don't really know. Yeah. But there were like three moments when we're sitting there and I'm like. Roxanne's gonna win.

They're gonna give it to her. Like, Roxanne's gonna win. And then I'm like, I was so close. I was like, but Charlotte, but I was like, no, no, no. And I literally was like, she's gonna pull this off.

She's gonna pull this off. It was so close. It was so exciting. I lost my voice probably. 15, 20 minutes into the women's Royal Rumble, the women's, I'm sorry, Royal Rumble, we were going insane.

Yeah. Like, it was a good one. You guys kicked the show off. I was losing my mind. I was yelling for everybody.

Admittedly, I was hoping Asuka was going to come out at some point. She didn't, but I was still happy overall. It was a great time. What's that? Yeah, thank you, Bell.

So, okay, now, Roxanne, that was the next thing I wanted to lead into.

Now, throughout the course of, you know, us looking up Royal Rumble videos as O'Shea and I did that night, I somehow landed on your mom's Instagram page. You want to talk about, first of all, someone who's extremely proud of you, as she should be. Oh, she's the best. But I noticed there was an old video of you as a kid standing outside of an event. And Nikki Bella was talking to you.

She was on the other side of a guardrail.

Now, for that to happen, and then you have that moment where you and her are like eye to eye doing push-ups together. What was 13, 14, 15 year old Roxanne feeling it at that moment with Nikki. Ugh.

So many feels, you know, in that video that you're talking about. I I remember Nikki Bella saying, Well, in five years, I'm going to need a tag partner. And I said, Well, I'd rather wrestle you. Ten years later. I'm in the ring with Nikki Bella.

And almost slapped her. Yeah, I got the taste left out of my mouth. But regardless, to have that moment with her was. Insane. You know, I feel like it's just there's just so many moments that keep happening that I.

I'm just like, wait, is this real? Yeah, it's real. This is, it's just everything that I've ever dreamt of as a kid. And like, if I could go back and tell my younger self that all of this is actually happening. She would freak out.

And that's what's so cool about sports, whether it be wrestling, basketball, football. Anytime you can find those old videos of a younger athlete. Looking, you know, being able to meet like their idol, their hero, and then them having a moment where, as an adult, they're able to cross paths. That is, I mean, honestly, is there anything cooler? No, paying it forward, paying it forward.

The torch passing. And it's a beautiful thing, a beautiful experience that we're glad you've gotten to share. But you. You've been in the rumble. Obviously, you have the record, so you saw a bit of everybody.

So, that's going to lead into the next question. Our number one question on this show. is a situation of base question. You're out with the girls. getting mimosas, whatever it is y'all got going on.

And there's fifty ladies in the building that don't want y'all in there. I need you to pick a team of you and four other superstars, main roster or NXT. To make sure y'all get into the car, these girls don't think you're the prodigy, yeah. They hate us, they hate us. You're about to have to let them know.

All right. Okay. I think I would choose Core Jake? Oh, I was hoping I'd get you. Oh, I was hoping.

Shouts. Roxanne, Roxanne. Maybe it'll be a mistake. Maybe she'd turn on me, right? Number 51, Roxanne.

You know, we just got done having this talk. But you know what? This is up to you. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Rhea Ripley.

Okay. That's understandable. Absolutely. I'm yeah. Yeah.

Nia Jax. That makes sense. She could probably get all of them. Yeah. Um last one.

And Ask Wyatt. You're a Wyatt guy. Yeah, one of your things, buddy. Wyatt needs mommy to give answers, man. Take me.

Um in Probably. Honestly, I'm going to pick all the big girls for Coward Drugas. Yeah, solid. We need to make sure you get home.

So I'm liking your chances. Build a wall, make a hole. Although I really hope it doesn't turn into 51 against four because, you know. Honestly, am I, but we could all take Corey down if that was the case. No, you know, you've got a pretty good moveset yourself.

You know, obviously, we know about Pop Rocks, which is just an amazing name. Right? Like, how awesome he is. I always think of those candies back in the day. Yeah, bro.

Yeah, exactly, man. Was that the. Is that how you came up with the name? Like, how did you come up with it?

So we were uh sitting there the day of my debut and me, Shawn Michaels and Matt Bloom were trying to come up with a name. And um I said it just like it Just off the top of my head, I thought of the candy. I thought Roxanne, rocks. Yeah. Looks like a little pop.

So I was like, okay, what about pop rocks? like joking around and they were like, oh. And Sean is like, what? Wait. Yeah, pop rocks.

I like that. And we're like, okay, cool. And it just stuck after that.

Well, you know, you got your moveset is a bit of everything. It's got some strikes. You know, it's got the springboard. Has there been a move that you've done against anyone where you were like, oh. Oh, I hit the shit out of her.

Like, oops. Yeah, so I, that little jumping moonsault that I do. I accidentally one time my my legs landed on her state. Jakara. I've seen that one.

Yeah, I felt so bad. I felt it right away, and I was like, oh no. Are you okay? That's amazing.

Now, Roxanne, we're going to put you in a time machine. Yeah. And you're going to be able to go back in time. And I'm thinking Let's say Five. I need you to give me five women throughout the course the history of wrestling.

that you would like to go back and main event WrestleMania with. I'm cool.

Okay, five. Mm. AJ Lee. Is at the top of my letter.

Okay, I already had that written. Yeah, right. Yeah. AJ Lee, uh Lita. Mm-hmm.

Makes sense. Trish Stratus, which maybe will be possible. She's around. Hey, yeah, she's around. I've got a feeling always in shape.

She's seeing that one. Always in shape. She looks great. Um China No, wow. China.

And Mickey James. Man, I'd love your answers. Yeah, solid, solid. A lot of possibilities there too. Yeah, make it glitz.

Come back. Yeah, a lot of possibilities. Four of these we could make happen. Yeah, exactly. Like, come on now.

There's a lot of possibilities there.

Now, one of my favorite skills that you have is your ability to cut promos.

Now, I know in my profession, when it comes to improv, sometimes I have it mapped out where I feel like I'm in complete control. Other times I black out and I'm like, wow, I can't believe that worked out that way. Like, is it a little bit of you're in complete control, or is it more like a, like, you just let. Roxanne takes over and you black out and finds you have some gold in the middle of the conversation. And has there ever been a moment?

Because we've all been in arguments where this has happened, where you thought, damn, you know, I should have said when you got to the bat. Uh Yes.

So, um They do give us a script, and I'm able to kind of change certain things if I would say it a certain way. If I have an idea that I think might work, that line against CM Punk, where I said I always preferred your wife, I came up with that. That was raw dog right there. That was great. That was raw.

It's a little bit of a mix. I like to memorize, so I'll memorize my promo before I go out there. But honestly, Sometimes maybe you're gonna go out there and you're gonna blank at certain parts, which it has happened to me. Or maybe you're gonna go out there and the crowd is gonna be booing you so loud that you can't even hear yourself talk. You can't even think.

So you just kind of gotta let you can't ignore them. You gotta think on your feet. You gotta call them out. But also get back on track. If someone else forgets something, you kind of gotta help them out and maybe say a line that you weren't going to say, but it helps everybody get back on track.

So it's kind of a mix of everything. I think having to memorize, having a script and going on live TV. Is scary. It's not like a movie where you can just be like, cut. Exactly.

Exactly. Like, you go out there live. It might be good. It might not be. You might remember.

You might forget.

So we'll see. Broadway with violence. Promos are like one of my favorite things to do. If you remember, there was one time Sid Vicious was doing an interview with Jim Ross in WCW and he started to cut a promo and then he lost himself. He's like, all right, can we start this again?

And Jim Ross goes, We're live, buddy. We're live, buddy. There's none of that going on. Wrestling is Broadway with violence.

So, Roxanne. Let me ask you, you know, your career hasn't even, I mean, even though you've been in Since you were 13, let's be honest, your career hasn't even really begun to go when you look at how. You know, how far we believe you're going to take this business.

So, for anyone who's new, and and doesn't know Roxanne Perez. Give me one match. That you would point out and say, this is the quintessential Roxanne Perez match. This is the match. That tells you everything you need to know about me.

Do you have one? Honestly, I think my stand and deliver match against Lyra Valkyrie, where I won the NXT Women's Championship for the second time. I think definitely that match. I have so many matches that I can name that I loved. My match with Mako Satomura, the first match that I had with her, that's one of my favorites.

But I think. Me and Lyra, we had about Maybe 20 minutes for the entire match, which which is a lot. for the woman, to be honest.

So we I think that was like one of my favorite matches of all time. And I had a little bit of every single thing that I do in that match. And Lyra, she's awesome, Intercontinental Women's Champion.

So yeah, definitely that match. You and Lyra have great chemistry, but hey You know, we've been told in our ear, we've got to let you go.

So, man, Roxanne, the prodigy, Perez, thank you so much for coming on the Note Contest Wrestling Podcast. Come on whenever you want, whatever you need to do. If you're in Los Angeles, you know, you come join us in the studio. Anytime you want to zoom in again, we'd love to have you. I'll let you know when I'm in LA.

Please do. How did we do as interviewers? We like to get on. You guys did great. This is so fun.

Yeah, I'd love to be on again. All right. So I will DM you from our show account that picture of you in Charlotte. I'll send that out today and we'll let you get back to Wyatt because it seems like he's ready to go play fetch or go. Wyatt, come here.

Why? Come here. Come here. I'm being nervous now. Any last words for us, Wyatt?
