The cardiac commanders are the clutch commanders! Today's guests, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, plus latest news and more. And now, it's Rich Eisen.
That's correct. Welcome to this edition of the Rich Eisen Show. Yeah, coming off of five super wild card weekend games, although I've been told the NFL doesn't want to call it super anymore.
That's lame. I don't know what's happening. Also, only one of the games was really super. Once you call something super, it's tough to take it back. 844-204-RICH is the number to dial right here on the Roku Sports Channel. We're in our second week of being in the Infinity Sports Network world. We appreciate being in their terrestrial radio universe, over 115 Rich Eisen Show terrestrial radio affiliates coast to coast, smart enough to have us. A lot more radio stations got smarter in the last week.
Fantastic. We're appreciative of being on Sirius XM Channel 158. We're appreciative of that. Appreciative of TJ Jefferson turning his phone off.
We're appreciative of being on Odyssey and all of that good stuff. Good to see you over there, Chris Brockman. Good to see you. Hey Rich, what's up man? As we speak, Mike Vrabel is being introduced as the 16th head coach in the history of the New England Patriots. Mike, change the channel.
I needed a phone number. Come on. No, don't worry about it. Focus on the present. All you're going to see is Bob Kraft standing in his usual Natalie Attired outfit, getting ready to introduce Mike Vrabel as the new head coach of the Patriots.
We'll discuss that later on. DJ Mikey Diaz and Deez Nuts, good to see you where you are. Chris Brockman and I just finished recording the Overreaction Monday pod. Make sure you get that in your ear gate or you check it out on our YouTube channel. Good to see you over there, TJ Jefferson.
How are you? Are we just going to call the big game the bowl now? We're going to take the super? No, no, no. Great point. Great point. If they remove the super from the wild card weekend, maybe it'll just be called the extra super bowl.
Oh, okay. Apparently gone. And there's one more game tonight, as we all know, in Glendale, Arizona, between the Rams and the Vikings.
That's all good in that hood in Glendale. And we would just again, I can't thank the brave firefighters in this community enough. The winds were dying down. They're coming back. For those who are wondering, apparently coming back starting tonight all the way through to Wednesday. So a lot of us here in Southern California still on a lot of pins and needles, but many of us having more of a restful weekend because of the tireless folks who are flying these helicopters and jets overhead and dropping water and fire retardant and taking care of all of these fires that have threatened every community, pretty much of everyone sitting in here and around our universe. And we can't thank all of you firefighters, LA's bravest and the first responders enough. So I just wanted to say that. Hear, hear.
844-204-RICH is the number to dial to have a conversation with us. This is my 22nd year with NFL Network. Congratulations.
Thank you. The reason why I mention it is I've been around the NFL playoff block for a while. There's all forms of NFL playoff teams and Lombardi hopefuls out there. There are obviously the two bi-week teams that we're all expecting to maybe make it to New Orleans since 76% of all Super Bowls have included a one seed. And then there are those who we expect to win after a terrific regular season. And thus they are 100% Super Bowl threats to win it all. You have teams that are division winners and you expect to see them win. There are some division winners that might surprise you because a lot of people thought, say, the Los Angeles Chargers had more of a head of steam and a better way of getting to the playoffs than the Houston Texans did. It turned out to be chalk in the AFC side of things in the wildcard weekend.
The seeds two, three, and four all held their home turf. And the Eagles hold their home turf. And we'll see what happens tonight with the Rams.
Okay. So, you know, there are teams that you expect it and there are teams that when they win, it's a bit of a surprise, but they've won a division. And then you've got the teams that say, why not us? And that's your Washington commanders in these playoffs. Why not us?
Because they are a threat. When you've got a why not us team, I mean, you've seen them, you've seen them. The Ben Roethlisberger, final Bill Cowher, Pittsburgh Steelers, why not us? The New York Giants with Eli Manning, why not us? Chris Brockman's, New England Patriots, Tom Brady's first run.
Absolutely. Why not us against the greatest show on turf. And then every other Tom Brady Super Bowl championship team, they were saying why not us about themselves while the rest of the NFL universe is like, what are you talking about? Why not you? It's only you. I don't appreciate that. Okay. But I'm just pointing out there's been a lot of why not us. True. Even for the same franchise that's being dynastic with the why not us. You might even say the Chiefs right now are saying why not us. You're saying it.
Well, some people manufacture it to put a chip on their shoulder. And then you've got the commanders sitting there with their grown ass man, rookie quarterback who dropped his huggies a long time ago and Jayden Daniels. He is the 100 percent leader in the why not us clubhouse for this team that Terry McLaurin's been waiting his whole professional career for him to show up.
And everybody's got to have their head on a swivel. Zaccheaus had his head on a swivel against the Falcons. And, you know, now this kid that is definitely sitting there on everybody's waiver wire at the end of your season, De'Ami Brown had five catches, 89 yards and a receiving touchdown last night. I'm sure, you know, commanders fans weren't terribly happy earlier in the day when the Eagles first touchdown of the playoffs was Johan Dotson. You're thinking maybe it's not us when stuff like that happens as you are hate watching the Eagles, commanders fans. But Jayden Daniels, 268 passing yards, 36 rushing yards, a couple of touchdowns, one fourth down at the end of the game.
Commanders are just, they're just wild to watch, period. They went forward on fourth down five times on Sunday night, including the fourth down to go ahead to Terry McLaurin. You know, unbelievable. And they were remarkable. I mean, they're down 17-13 and instead of kicking a field goal on fourth and two at the Tampa Bay five, after getting the ball right back on a fumble, Dan Quinn's like, let's go for it. They were three of five on fourth downs. They are the first team since 1991 to win a playoff game in which they had at least five or more fourth down attempts.
Everyone else who's done that is 0-8. The commanders now made it 1-8 because they believe in this kid. And the personification of Jayden Daniels' coolness isn't, you know, what everybody's talking about that when Gonzalez doinked them to Detroit with the field goal at the end that he was, he didn't even smile. It's this, he got a cut on his cheek last night and it looked like they needed Ferdie Pacheco on the sideline. He's the fight doctor. Looked like they needed him to sit in the corner and have this cut attended to.
That's how, it looked pretty deep at one point to me. I missed the cut. I thought it was a tribute to Nelly, the way he had the Band-Aid out of his eye at first.
And after the game, does this personify Jayden Daniels or what? Hit it. What happened? I don't know. I didn't know I was bleeding. They told me so.
I wiped it and was like, oh, I'm bleeding. No. There you go.
Wow. He didn't even know he was bleeding. He didn't have time to bleed, Rich. That's right.
Nobody makes me bleed my own blood. Why not us? One of the most dangerous types of playoff teams. Too young to know what they should know. Right. Not old enough to know what they don't know. And then they got somebody like Bobby Wagner in the middle of the defense.
Who does know and has been there. And does that. And a bunch of other defenders that outside of Mike Evans going off last night, you know, made enough plays to win it. And the Bucks were the ones who made the mistakes. That fumble.
Killer. At the end of the game. Well, especially after they stopped him on fourth down. They stopped him on fourth down.
Two times they stopped him on fourth down on fourth and goal at the Tampa Bay three. And then Baker can't get it into the hands of McMillan. The wide receiver is coming around the end and the ball's out and the commanders get it. But the biggest mistake was this game at the end. It's 20 to 17 and the Bucks are going in on a third and one and Bucky Irving standing back there. And they botched the snap count. Here you are with five minutes to go in a playoff game at home. You're down three against a team that you need. You need to put points on the board against and not make the mistakes against because they're playing like the crusty veterans who won their division and damn near made it to the NFC championship game last year.
Like you are that team. But they botched the snap count and they had to settle for a field goal. Tied the game instead of going up by four, allowing the commanders to just get a three point attempt at the end.
As opposed to having to score a touchdown, which Daniels could have done anyway, to be honest with you. And the commanders now go on and they're going to Detroit and and listen. They're the personification of wildcard. They're wildcard.
I mean, good luck. At least if you know, if if the Vikings or the Rams were coming your way, you know what you're getting with them. I mean, you just saw the Vikings and you you played the Rams. First game this year, last game last year for them. The commanders are just like having a load of house money sitting in front of them. And a quarterback who is a revelation.
And you know what? Every commanders fan I know is on cloud nine right now. Same because this was without question, one of the worst run franchises for a long time with an owner that seemed like he would never leave every commander's fan. Washington football team fan. Yes, Redskins fan that I've known forever since Dan Snyder took over. The first question I would get asked is, is there any chance this man sells the team? Period.
End of story. And for the five years before he sold it, it was like an annual Washington Post deep dive of just how horrible it was within that facility. Didn't you remember Alex Smith came on, said they couldn't focus sometimes on the job with all the stuff going around here. Now look at them. They're in the final four of the NFC tournament. They have a quarterback that is the envy of name anybody that's on the clock right now for a quarterback. They hope and pray the football gods drop Jayden Daniels in their lap.
And Dan Quinn and the staff there have done a marvelous job on coaching him up with Cliff Kingsbury, the front office surrounding him and the ownership group with Magic Johnson sitting in one of the chairs there. I mean, commanders fans got to be pinching themselves. Moving on to Detroit, the Lions need to have their head on a swivel. They have 15 wins and they are really talented and they are absolutely in my estimation, the favorites in the NFC.
But here come the commanders. And my goodness, thank goodness for that game. Otherwise Wild Card Weekend was holding the beer of the first four games of the college football playoffs. So in terms of first round playoff contest for football, Jayden Daniels and the Bucks saved the day.
And I know Bucks fans are very upset about how it all ended. We'll discuss that. We'll discuss all the other postseason games. We will have an 844-204 rich number to dial conversation. But when we come back, absolute monster, big time coaching news that is going to shake things up, to say the least.
And I'm not talking about Mike Vrabel chatting with the media in New England right now as the new coach of the Patriots. That's next. Do not change the channel on the Rich Eisen Show. Learn more at AmericanExpress.com slash Amex Business. Back here, one last thing on the commanders. There's only, you know, I spent a good 12 minutes on trying to give perspective to the commanders, or I could have just kept it to 280 characters for one Ervin Magic Johnson.
Do we have the LAs there? What a win for my commanders tonight. Another last-second field goal by Zing and Zalas to get our franchise's first playoff win since 2005. There's a fire emoji. Bobby Wagner had a huge defensive play with his fumble recovery.
And Jayne Daniels once again showed true composure down the stretch and put us in position to win the game. E-M-J-S-P-N. No, remember I made this Chat E-M-J? Chat E-M-J? Yeah, remember a few months ago, I was like, this is Chat E-M-J.
Is he doing it? Both are better than C-T-E-S-P-N. Just throw that out there. No question. So Chat E-M-J would be what?
You'd take something particularly complex, put it in, and it comes out much simpler? Invites, look, man. First of all, Ervin's not a journalist, right? Is he doing it? So then why is he giving me information? Because it's something that normal people, like, no offense to you, sometimes you get a little wordy, right? Ervin don't.
We all, you know, Magic don't. He don't get very wordy. He just gives you the basics, he gives you the simple, it's easily digestible. You don't have to grab a thesaurus, there's no big word alerts. It's just, this is what happens. Hold on a minute.
What is it? Wordy how? How am I wordy? What, am I a word guy to you? You are, you're a wordsmith.
I've said this multiple times. What am I? You have a, you have an incredible grasp of your language. How am I wordy? No, how am I wordy?
You know, like, you turn that down a little bit. I'm such a surprise to score. Like I'm a clown, I amuse you.
Like I'm a wordsmith. Yes, I affirm Magic's tweet. That's what you do. Usually Magic gives us numbers.
Congrats to Jayden Daniels, he had 258 yards passing and two touches. I don't, come on. Just give me, give me what you're thinking. Is he making, is he doing the tweet? Yes, for sure. I think he absolutely is. Absolutely.
I don't think so. Providing him the information, like the stats. He's got it. He's amazing. Back on the Rich Eisen Show radio network, I'm sitting at the Rich Eisen Show desk furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry.
Grainger is the right product for you. Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. We were going to talk about some more playoff games. But? But, hit it. Here it comes.
And Murray, I see breaking news. The here it comes part, when it involves Jerry Jones. Oh, hey.
Takes a long time. Here it comes. Right, that part. Because you could see something coming. Right? Murray, I see.
That's a lot. You could see it coming. And the question is when would it happen?
And then we found out maybe it might not happen. The it being Mike McCarthy being retained as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones had all the way till Tuesday to make a decision. That's when his contract and that of the assistants would be up.
And they needed to get something done. Otherwise, they would then be in the same coaching carousel as everybody else looking for a head coach. And you want to be early on that front because you want to get in the front of the line with a lot of people. Certainly when in this day and age you have to wait to interview people if they're involved in the playoffs. If you don't get them in the window that they're available to be talked to while they're in the playoffs. So you got to be early. You got to be quick. Or you got to be the Jets who fire somebody in week six.
That's rude. And there were three teams that had the jump on. So if you're Jerry Jones, the here it comes part for breaking news takes a while.
And it's finally hit. According to Tom Pellicero and various other members of the NFL news and information community, Mike McCarthy is not coming back. It was apparently a length of contract disagreement. And I don't know what that means, but for a guy that spent the entire year with no extra time on his contract pass this year, I'm sure he wanted some form of security that the Cowboys clearly were not willing to give.
And they are going their separate ways. And the Dallas Cowboys will indeed now be in the market for a new head coach. The problem is, is again, you take a look at the schedule that's being laid out because the NFL doesn't want coaches involved in divisional playoff weekend and then wildcard weekend or championship weekend, if that happens, to be flying all over the country and having conversations in person.
And some are allowed to do it on Zoom. But not after a certain amount of times, it's a very difficult process to make heads or tails about if you're just on the outside looking in or even if you're involved in it, which is why you got to be early. I think the Jets have probably interviewed about 20 candidates the way it feels to me.
They have been speed dating. The Bears have already interviewed, I think, what, 13 candidates and they're, according to Tom Pelissero, waiting to see if Marcus Freeman's available. All that to say is the Cowboys are now in the coaching interviewing market late, but that's part and parcel of everything else that the Dallas Cowboys do. They're late to sign their quarterback and they're late to sign their wide receiver. And we'll find out if they're late to sign their defensive pass rusher extraordinaire in Micah Parsons.
We assume they will be, but that's just the way they do business. That said, who wants to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys? I imagine there are lots of people and this is going to get crazy.
Crazy people. It's going to get totally nuts because everybody that you mentioned from Ben Johnson and everybody else that you want to get who's currently in the NFL playoffs that you could have gotten to like everybody else did in the last week. The Cowboys are now going to have to wait. They're going to have to wait.
And in that interim, who's going to fill the vacuum? You know it names like prime Dion. Oh yeah.
I'm seeing that everywhere right now. Dion. You're going to hear I'm sure Kellen Moore's name is going to pop up. Dude.
Scratch you and see it. You're not you're not you're not even high enough. I'm talking about him top top tier. I'm talking about somebody handing Bill Belichick a Carolina blue cocktail napkin and say here's a pen right I resign as the HC of UNC and you come to Dallas could have done that last year. Look at the one the one guy that the Dallas Cowboys cannot hire is being introduced as the 16th head coach of the New England Patriots who they could have had last year and they bounced their guy early enough to hire Mike Vrabel. I'm OK with that.
They are going I mean they're there. I don't know. You hear the name John Gruden that he could come off a big cat's.
That would be incredible. You know. Oh boy. And you know he could be done you know partying with the barstool guys. He's having a good time.
It looks like he could stay and he he could come back. I love it. Right. I love it.
It's going to be a big splashy name. It has to be because that's how Jerry operates. He does normally do that but he he did it once. Twice he did it with Jimmy and Bill Parcells Parcells.
Yeah. And I guess you could say what was with Switzer splash higher name was it was a name. But I disagree like Jason Garrett wasn't a name. He wasn't a name.
Campo was in the name. Wade Phillips added name but he wasn't a name for and McCarthy was a name. But you know I mean he was a Super Bowl winner.
So how about this one I'm going to throw on out there. You mentioned Jason Garrett. Jason Garrett. What was he? Former Cowboy Quarterback.
What about Tony Romo? No dude. I don't think. Nah. No.
He's got. Romo's first of all Romo's not taking the pay cut. I remember saying this when he first started the game.
Number one. No. There's no way. I don't think he. I think he. I don't know man Rich you talked about how smart he is on the grease board. I know that. I feel like Romo could coach him up.
He'd have to take a pay cut. It's more than just it's more than just X's and O's and saying let's unlock Dak. By the way. That's.
That one I shall reject. Okay. Upon hearing. Yeah.
And Dion as well. You know I know he said on Good Morning America was it where he was on? That he wants to coach his sons. Plurals.
He wants to make sure S. Plurals. Yep. And that's just I think a way of. You know and I think then the next question was well wait a minute you know. Are you happy at Colorado? I'm happy at Colorado.
He told us that he was in negotiations to stay there because he wanted to look out and see his face on on the side of the mountain right out of his window. Yep. And they can't. They're not getting Chidor. They're too they're too far down.
And plus you know if you're. I thought that was just Dion's way of saying by the way I got a second draftable son out there. But maybe he does want to coach the Dallas Cowboys. That that is something that would entice any other human being on the planet that's in the coaching industry period end of story and I am sure there are folks in western Pennsylvania who would love to just say swap take our coach and I'm wondering if the Dallas Cowboys would be interested in that on overreaction Monday because you sent a text to me over the weekend I know apparently Jimmy Johnson said this on Fox.
Well I was ahead of everybody but you sent you sent this like two days ago and I said put it in overreaction Monday. You're like how about the Steelers and the Cowboys swap coaches. And would Tomlin be interested in an Andy Reid type change of venue. Would he be interested in okay well Dak's definitely better than what I got here.
And I can bring a change of culture down to Dallas. And I know what Jerry Jones's M.O. is but he doesn't change coaches a lot. He does not. I mean he's not the Rudy's. No.
Okay. But he keeps guys a little bit longer. He can he can be that guy who just says to Tomlin calls the Steelers up you know and then the Steelers replace him with the toll taker from Pittsburgh named Mike McCarthy who can maybe bring an offensive mindset that Steelers fans would love or McCarthy doesn't come home and they go ahead the Steelers and get some new young offensive minded head coach with a CEO mentality and say how would you like to spend the next 20 years of your profession here just like every one of your predecessors pretty much. And this whole thing is now in play.
All of it. Everything I just said is what I meant by how this is just going to be crazy. Nuts. Now the leading candidates to pursue Mike according to Ian Rappaport are the Saints and the Bears. McCarthy I believe has history with the Saints as well. I think he started there before going to San Francisco. The Saints were the first team I started hearing.
Right. And then the Bears I mean who according to Tom Pelosero would like to talk to Marcus Freeman as well. And if Marcus Freeman is available to be talked to maybe the Cowboys do that too. Yeah McCarthy was Saints OC 2000 to 2004 before going to San Francisco. And then he went from there to Green Bay.
Yeah one year with the Niners and then was the Green Bay head coach in 06. I'm telling you the coaching carousel just spun off its axis. Now that the Cowboys have entered the fray. And everybody out there is going to start talking and you know the Cowboys are going to take their time because first of all the rules. They don't rush nothing.
Mandate it. And they're late to the party. And two that's the way Jerry Jones operates. And of course there's the other wild card aspect of it which is maybe they've already kicked a tire or two and know where they're going next. Which is why they took the stance with McCarthy that they did and then everybody's going their separate ways.
Oh my goodness gracious. And this is why the Patriots moved fast. This is why the Patriots moved fast. Let's discuss this now. And we're going to talk about it later when Vrabel's done. But actually we'll wait till his sound body's done. I want to hear what he's got to say.
He's talking right now to the New England. I'm reading all these sound bites. I'm so fired up. I'm sure you are. I'm sure you are. 844-204 Rich.
Number to dial. Let's go to Dan in Wisconsin. Dan, you're on the Rich Eisen Show. What's up, sir? Yeah, you guys kind of jumped into it, but it seems like the obvious kind of way that could go is market screaming, open for that Pittsburgh job, and then Tom went straight into the Cowboys job. Big splash, solid, strong presence. Every bit of that just makes sense now that McCarthy's out.
So I would think McCarthy would probably have just about his ticked litter of the jobs that are out there. I don't know. We're going to find that out, man.
Thanks for the call, Dan. I think we're going to find out what his market value is. And I imagine his agents already did this legwork. They're not just going to dig in and be obstinate unless it was so easy to be digging in and obstinate about what if the Joneses offered a two-year extension, one year? We'll run it back?
Yeah, I can't wait to see the details of this. You know what I mean? That McCarthy would say, I'll test the market because there's no guarantee. Belichick and Vrabel went through the coaching carousel sieve last year and nobody caught him.
They went right through. Belichick has taken photographs with teenagers right now that he's asking to come play for his college football team. Let's check Bill's IG. Nothing since the 10th. Honestly. Busy. Busy. So you're going into a coaching interviewing world that told Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel the hottest coaching candidate this year.
No, thanks. And let's just talk about Tomlin real quick because, you know, hey, everybody here knows this is a Mike Tomlin friendly environment. I have been a scourge. I've been a scourge of a lot of Western Pennsylvania longtime listeners, first time callers and sports talk radio and bloggers and things of that nature that think I give this man too much of a pass and I don't hold him to account as I might other coaches. And I will say this.
He is one of the greatest leaders of men I have ever been around and talked to. Man eats, breathes and oozes hard nosed football. The problem is in this results oriented business. They are now 0 and 5 in the playoffs since a 2017 wild card weekend loss at Baltimore. The eight season drought without a playoff win is the longest by the franchise when they since they didn't win a playoff game since coming into being in 1933 all the way to the 71 season. Yes, kids, the Steelers used to suck a lot real bad until Bradshaw showed up and then Franco and then the steel curtain happened and it just cascaded into Cower and it cascaded from Cower into Mike Tomlin, who is now 8 and 1 in his career in the playoffs. He's joined Chuck Knox and Marty Schottenheimer is the only coaches with more than 10 playoff losses and fewer than 10 playoff wins and another falling off of the cliff this year. They lost their last five in a row and the offense went from fixed with a quarterback room combination that few people thought would be workable winning their 10 of their first 13 games averaging 24 points a game and allowing only 18 points a game.
That's a recipe for winning. And then in the last five games, they went from an average of winning games 24 to 18 to losing games 27 to 14 and they ran into a three games and 11 day stretch, a Sunday against the Eagles, a Saturday against the Ravens and a Wednesday against Kansas City and they lost all three of them and then they lose to Cincinnati at the end of the season and then lose to the Ravens again. And the thing is too, they got punked in the first half of that game and then wound up, this is unbelievable, they wound up being out rushed 299 to 29. That is just not Tomlin football, that's not Pittsburgh Steelers football.
It just all fell apart. TJ Watt, four straight games with no sacks. That's the first time in his career that happened and Russ did his best to try and make it closer, but Derrick Henry just running straight through the Steelers defense and Lamar Jackson, I know Steelers fans just remember Lamar Jackson was on the board when Terrell Edmonds was chosen in that draft. Lamar was on the board with everybody. Lamar was on, I understand, and by the way, in that 2018 draft, Big Ben in the following year led the league in passing yards with over 5,000, but after that started getting older and more injured, he only played two games in 2019, the COVID year was a 12 win season and then after that, 2021, he was gone. And I know a lot of Steelers fans would be like, what if we chose Lamar instead? I don't know how Big Ben's end of his career would have gone. I don't know how happy he would have been. He probably would have been like when Aaron Rodgers felt when Jordan Love showed up.
That's all right. I know, I know. And you could see how everything's different right now. But the reason why I bring all of this up is the quarterback spot has been a major problem for over five years now. And the defense wound up getting shredded.
And they added Patrick Queen. I do not know what happened in the last five weeks when the offense turned back into Canada-esque. But even I am sitting here wondering if it would be time for Tomlin to find his next spot like Andy Reid. Because after a while in Eastern PA, it started going in the other direction and the fans were getting tired and Andy Reid found his landing spot in Kansas City and then found his Mahomes. And I'm wondering if Tomlin's sitting there wondering it's time for the same thing.
And if the Rooney's are figuring the same thing. And maybe Dallas is the spot. Well, his Mahomes ain't in Dallas. Well, Dak is sitting there and- He ain't Mahomes, Joe.
I get it. You're so down on Dak, huh? Well, in comparison to Patrick Mahomes, if you were to give me somebody else, but there's only some saying there's- But there's obviously only one of him.
There's one of him. You can't- In any way that we're singing Lamar's praises, it can be his third MVP and Allen's praises, it could be his first MVP. And we're talking about Hurts and the Eagles looking terrific and Jayden Daniels is the Why Not Us guy and so on and so forth. This may be all deck chairs we're rearranging for a three-peat anyway. But in that mold, I'm wondering if Tomlin's wondering if he can have his Andy Reid moment here and if the Steelers are wondering the same thing as the Eagles did at that time too. Because what happened again this year might just lead to both sides saying it's time and I'm thinking the same thing for the first time right now. Yeah, he's lost the fan base. I mean, I told you, from there I see all the stories and I read all the socials and when you lose that fan base, it's pretty impossible to win them back. Anything shorter like a Super Bowl win.
So maybe it is time, maybe it's time for him to, you know. Ten and three to ten and eight fell apart. They wound up allowing 400 yards per game almost. And then the offense dropped off, fell off and reverted to the meme that everybody thought had been gone with the changes.
But I finally am, I think I'm coming around to it. That it's time for Mike Tomlin to move on and find his Andy Reid spot. And then the Steelers find their, what, Sirianni?
Eventually. 844-204 Rich is the number to dial. We'll take your phone call. So much going on. Daniel Jeremiah is in the middle of this show.
Can't wait to ask him about all of this. He was in the booth for the Chargers loss in Houston. Right here on the Infinity Sports Network. It's time for Sports Update with Andrew Bogusch. Welcome to the Jungle Clones.

Follow and listen on your favorite platform. I can't. This is amazing. What, all of it? Yeah. By the way, there's another name we didn't mention. Pete Carroll.
Yeah. He's out there interviewing. I know he's out there interviewing, but why, you know, go get Pete. I don't know.
That doesn't, that's not real inspiring to me. Why? Because he's only, what, 12 years younger than Jerry?
So is Bill. Yeah. That's not for us. Yeah. Uh-oh. TJ. No. Who's for you, TJ? By the way, I'm drinking on the air right here.
Look at that baby. Who is for you, TJ? I don't know, Mike. Yeah, who do you want? Who do you want?
By the way, it's just an orange note. There's coffee in here. Why don't you want Pete? I mean, come on, bro. Okay. Why do I have to explain this to you? TJ's like, if we're going to do this, we have to follow suit like every other team and go for some young hot shot offensive guy to come in and try to change this team around.
Otherwise we're just, we're stagnant. NFL Network came on the air. I like Marcus Freeman, will you? Bill Parcells was the coach. How old was Bill when he took that job?
Um, I don't know. Look it up. I probably was in his mid sixties or so. Might've been or early sixties. So Parcells is, let's see. How old is Parcells right now? He's 83 right now.
Okay. So that's 22 years ago. He's in his early sixties. Yeah. Yeah.
He became Cowboys. 62. In 03. 62. Yeah. Okay. Bill is 72.
He's only 10 years older. Yeah. Right now. Right now somebody's handing Bill a cocktail napkin. Wherever he is. Rich.
Slap. What do you think Jerry? Is Lambeau going to be on Pat this week?
We're happy in UNC. I'm telling you. I know. That would be crazy.
Cause I don't know if Lambeau would go to Dallas with, with Bill. Yeah. I don't know.
That would be crazy. Hold up. Wait a minute.
I don't know. Do you want Bill? I, you know, I don't want to be associated with this anymore. I want to be, I want to be, quote this. Cause it's going to be, I just want to be over with this. I'm sick of this. I'm sick of getting flowers. I'm sick of mariachi bands. I'm sick of getting, I'm sick of, you know, rubber gloves and all this other crap. I'm sick of everything associated with being a fan of this team because it's brought me no joy lately. The last time I had joy, I was living in Pittsburgh in 95 running across Mount Washington, screaming because we beat the Steelers in the super bowl. Those days are gone. It's not coming back. I'm sick of it.
I'm sick of being laughed at on this show because I chose to cheer for the Dallas freaking Cowboys. I'm over it. By the way, this is one of T, that was one of the finest moments.
Really good rant. Man. And I didn't curse and I wanted to. I love it.
I got a dumb button. You could have done it. Honestly.
Well, we're not on the radio. You could actually curse. It's like, this is, this is the TJ. I'm tired of it, man. I got green flowers in front of me, Rick. Okay.
I can't, how am I supposed to? Salty TJ. By the way, not only did the Eagles win a playoff game yesterday, Washington won a playoff game. Do you know how did you guys do today? Fire your coach annoyed. I was basically, it was hard to watch football this weekend already. It was hard to concentrate, but then the two teams you hate the most when going into playoffs and winning, I'm sitting at home wondering, excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, for his next episode of land, man. Excuse me. Yes, sir.
You're going to have to give me some tips because one week from tonight, they play each other. How do you think I feel about that? I don't like those two either.
Hmm. Maybe we should hate watch together. This is why I watch wrestling.
Hashtag watch. Oh my gosh, ethos. Let's tell you about this terrific spot for you to go get life insurance.
You know, you need it. Maybe you think you can't afford it. It's too complicated. You don't want to deal with medical exams.

Susie says it's one of my bad habits. I pointed people when I talked to him. She thinks that it's a big studio, whatever it's not like you're in his face. That's true. Yeah, I could be though. He's a good 20 feet away, pretty far.
So at any rate, you might have to point, pop it on there. Which losing team, which wildcard losing team do you have the most hope in the future? Yeah. Richmond do you want better?
It's been 45 minutes already. Great. Which super super wildcard loser has the brightest, they don't want it called super well, it doesn't matter.
We make our own rules. Yeah. Broncos chargers, Packers, Steelers. Yeah. We left the bucks off cause they won their division. Well, they won their division.
Everyone else did not. Yeah. Okay. Also is Todd Bowles a sneaky hot seat right now?
I don't know, bro. I mean, that would be wild. He's won divisions. He hasn't broken up the streak of division winners from Arians and Brady to Brady and him.
That's true. Yeah. He's won three divisions in a row. I also put up another poll. Who's going to be the next Dallas Cowboys head coach? Dion, Mike Tomlin, Bill Belichick, question marks. Okay. Let's go to Jeff in Jacksonville, Florida. What's up, Jeff? How's it going? What's going on, man?
First time, long time. I just want to start off by saying been a Cowboys fan since the seventies. So TJ, I got your back. And I concur with your, with your ranch since 95. I've gone through many bottles of Tums and a Pepto over the years since Jerry bought the team.
Um, question though, as far as the McCarthy departure, um, just thinking out of the box, do you think that maybe Jerry would want to stay local and maybe look at like a Steve Sarkasian or someone local? Okay. Well college. I mean, that worked the last time he went college, right? Yeah.
I mean, that's true. Well, we're at last time because he took a national champion winning. So maybe he takes Ryan Day. Does this mean Ryan Day's going to be my, does this mean I'm a Freeman, I don't know what to say.
I'm telling you guys. I like Sark. That's a good one. Jeff. No name in my, as far as I'm concerned is, is out of the realm.
No, no, definitely not pretty other than Vrabel. Cause he just got hired. He's with us now, honestly, I wouldn't have wanted him anyway. I can't push back. I can't push back on it. You know, thanks for the call. I appreciate it a long time.
First times, but why not? It's all out there. We didn't mention also Pete Carroll in our conversation when we talked about it on the simulcast before, but Sark he's got NFL experience.
He's there in state of Texas. You're thinking outside of the box, maybe brings arch with him at some point. Yes. I'm like, at some point, I mean, everything is possible.
Dan Laning. Why not? Why not? I think everything has to be on the table. Yeah.
And anybody will listen to a phone call. Jerry Jones wants you to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. And you know, it's amazing.
A fact that he could be going after. Name it. I mean, who are the names that we've mentioned? We've mentioned Dion Bellacheck, Laning, Sarkeesian, Marcus Freeman, Ryan Day, Mike Tomlin. I'm Ben Johnson.
I'm the throw him back. Well, I mean, because they're going to, I just want to put unless Ben, unless Ben has already decided where ever he's already interviewed, he really likes it there. And he's going to rip the knob off and he'll choose the franchise that would be absolutely willing to take him. Right. Look, he already knows he can put up a lot of points in that stadium. So call Nick Saban.
Come on. Now you're now you're out of your mind. What do you mean? He's the same age as Bill.
What's the difference? I know that. But he's.
And there's no buyout. There's not going to be a 70 year old coach coming in except Bill. You take you would take Bellacheck five minutes ago. You take it. Is he coming with Tom Brady? Excuse me.
You would take. Is he coming with Richard Seymour? Don't don't.
Is he coming with Matt Light? Don't deflect. That's a deflection. That's a legitimate question for those those watching on Roku right now.
You saw a raw, real T.J. Jefferson. Normally he leaves that person. He leaves that person on the side of the road behind the airport as he hangs a left to work. You don't want that person on air, man.
You have to hit the dump button if he comes out. I want in the fifty five seconds till we have to throw the break and answer. Do you want Bill Bellacheck? Wow.
Wow. Well, with all with all and I mean, I understand that respectfully, of course, if we're like I said, everyone else is doing this youth movement. We've got to like stay in line. We've got to compete with these other teams. The greatest coach in the history of coaching to come to the Dallas Cowboys strong. And you know, he knows Jerry and you know, Parcells would would be if he's in anybody's ear. I don't know, man.
That would be the answer to me. Seriously, honestly, he could break Shula's record and get another trophy and one for the new case in Dallas. Let me tell you what ain't going to happen.
Our two coming up. Wow. What a first. Actor Michael Rosenbaum, you know, some of the most talented people in the business. And now he's getting the inside story. Let's get inside of Heather Graham. I can't look at like Boogie Nights and think that you were on your Johnny Knox film figure to do another Jackass movie.
What do your kids want? Dad's not going to do that. You got to be careful how you choose your hero here from some of the most fascinating people in pop culture today. Danny Trejo. You're a legend. Do you know you're a legend? You can't be a legend. Having this much fun. This is the side of you podcast follow and listen on your favorite platform.
