The J.R. Sport Brief Show? on the Infiniti Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much for being here.
Thank you for listening. Thank you to our producer in New York City, Ryan Botcher. This show gets started every weekday, six PM Eastern. 3 Pacific, and we've had a busy show so far. Thank you so much to Tom Carroll for joining us.
from WEEI to talk about the nine and two. New England Patriots. We talked about the terrible Jets. Might as well sit Justin Fields down sooner than later. Or leave them out there so you can continue to tank.
We talked about the next NFL game. The next football you'll see on the professional level will be the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders. They'll be playing in Spain.
Okay, we talked about some of these injuries. Lamar Jackson looked like he's going to be good to go. As they get ready to take on the Browns, they're trying to go on a run, even up their record at five and five. We do have some quarterbacks that will be out. CJ Stroud has a concussion.
Jackson Dart is in concussion protocol. We talked about the Lions and Eagles pretty much ending Sunday. Sunday night football for all of America to see. We got a big game between the Chiefs and the Broncos. The Broncos are 8-2.
I mean, they're barely winning a lot of these games. They're comeback kids. The Chiefs can't afford to fall. a five and five. Seattle and the Rams are going to have a good one.
I think Seattle, I'd call them pretenders, especially with Sam Darnold at quarterback. I think the Rams are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. We got some more NFL talk to get into. How about this? We'll talk some college in about 20 minutes.
Dan Wolkin will join us. He covers all things college football for USA. Today At the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. We got people throwing darts at JJ Reddick, we got another coach talking smack. I love it.
But we'll we'll get into that as well. And if you want to talk smack, Yeah, you can talk smack to me. It's not gonna bother me any. You can call me 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710.
four I S N. You can always listen to the show. On the free Odyssey app you can lock in on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, SiriusXM, three hundred seventy five, and if you have a smart speaker, you be smart, use your brain, ask it to play. the Infiniti Sports Network. What?
Ah, dang what a day it's been. Botcher, is it still cold in in New York? Extremely. It's not as bad as that one day where it was super windy. But it's it's getting to the point where it's like, okay, it's not fall, it's it's really winter.
Oh, ouch. Bad, not good, not good. Yeah, weather's weather's good here. Ugh, man. Football weather, I guess.
You gotta take it. When you can. There's so many matchups and that we talked about, looking forward to. I just I'm trying to enjoy, like Bachelor. I'd like to wake up in the morning and.
smell the cool air, it's it's fresh, it You know, it it doesn't seem like it's been poisoned by the time you're in the middle of the day, you got all these senses.
Something about smellin' the fresh air. in the morning. Yeah, I get that. I love the cold air. Yeah.
Too cold and I can't feel my nose within a minute or two, that's when it gets pretty bad. You can wear a scarf, or is that you'd be a punk if you wear a scarf? That's uh punk, soft. I I I have a scarf, I just don't wear it. I got it for free.
I just I just don't One, I don't know what to wrap it around my neck without it falling off.
Okay. And then two, I just it doesn't match. It's like you got it for free. What is this, a gift or is this a soccer scarf? It was it was a New York Islanders free scarf.
Oh boy, okay.
So it's like it's like blue and orange, so it doesn't match anything. You don't want to walk around representing the islanders? No, I do, but it's just if I if I'm traditionally wearing black. Or just dark blue. Black matches everything.
Yeah, I know, but it's like it's like a sore thumb if I'm springing an islander scarf.
Okay. It could be worse, Bacha. Your neck it could just be cold and you have no option of protection, okay? Yes. I I will always prefer wearing a hoodie.
All right, good. Figure something out for your nose. You'll get there. Wear one of them skull caps that are so popular now, okay? Oh, like a like a shyste?
Yeah, go ahead, wear one. Yeah, I gotta buy one. He will get you a shyste, give you a chain. And people are wearing that thing when it's 100 degrees outside.
So why not? You fit in perfectly fine. Yeah, it's the average New Yorker. Yeah, average New Yorker. Yeah, it's this time of the year.
888-710-4ISN. It's eight at eight, seven, ten, four IS. I'm like, where are all these people going? Everybody going to the ski slopes or People robbing banks out here. I have no idea.
888-710-4ISN. Let's go to Lee. He's calling from Cincinnati, Ohio, the home of the.
Well, the crap bangles. You're on the J. R. Sport Breed Show, Lee. What's up?
Hey, Lee, you're live on the radio. Damn, I guess Lee got abducted Botch, he got abducted by aliens. Most likely. That or his phone mine is very bad.
Okay. Well, let's uh both both are possible. Hey, Lee, thank you for calling from Cincinnati. We don't know where the hell you at. Uh apparently Lee got abducted by uh All of the aliens.
I know it's Friday, people get into all types of things. Speaking of aliens. How the hell did I forget this? And he's calling from Cincinnati. We got the Steelers and the Bengals on Sunday.
And I don't think this is a matchup. This isn't a game that people are just gonna, you know, go ape, you know what, to go ahead and see. And it's gonna go, Oh my God, I gotta see uh the Steelers in Cincinnati, but If you saw what the Steelers just did against the Chargers, you If you just saw Aaron Rodgers have that pathetic game, And if you think about the fact that Joe Burrow Ain't back. You got Joe Flacco, who's basically been told to have a seat. The Steelers, this is a must win game for them.
Like they cannot go out there. and four to five and five. against the Cincinnati Bengals who are just I can't even say they're treading water. They just suck. They sucked when they took on the Chargers.
Aaron Rodgers had the worst game of his Steelers career. I mean, Mike Tomlin had to answer questions about whether or not he still believed in Aaron Rodgers. And they got to turn things around. Listen to what Aaron Rogers had to say. about getting ready to take on.
Dub angles. There's always a familiarity when you're playing in your division. They had a week off, so usually when you play a team off a bye there's some wrinkles, so there'll be some unscouted looks I'm sure. But at this point in the season you're trying to run your your best stuff and they're trying to run their best stuff.
Okay. Everybody's trying to run their best stuff. I mean, the Pittsburgh Steelers need to run another W into the win column. Aaron Rodgers, only wide receiver worth a damn, DK Metcalf, says, Yeah, man, we gotta get things together. What are we doing out here?
Us a long season. We got 17 games now, but I think we just hit the halfway point.
So just continuing to get on the right track from this point forward. Just take it in one game at a time. Yeah, they'll they'll be okay. They'll be fine, right? Like the Steelers are gonna steal her.
They're gonna end up with a positive record barely. They're going to go into the postseason. Maybe they'll win around and then they'll be eliminated. Done. And then they'll wash, rinse, and repeat as to what they should do.
Now, let me make it very clear, especially to the caller who hit us up earlier. This does not mean you fire Mike Tomlin.
Okay, that doesn't mean that you bring in some young hot shot who you have no familiarity with to say, hey, please lead our franchise. No, it doesn't work that way. It doesn't matter who's coaching. The Pittsburgh Steelers. It doesn't matter who is calling the plays until they get themselves a quarterback.
A la a drake may, like we just saw what he did last night, For the New England Patriots, you ain't got a quarterback. You ain't got nothing.
Okay, Joe Burrow. Still not back for the Cincinnati Bengals. We still gotta look at Joe Flacco. Until a burrow comes back, And then we even heard from their squad, Mike Tomlin. He's just like, yeah, Flacco's still out there.
Don't want to face him. His processing, the fluidity of it, his experience is an asset to him and to them. And I imagine that's why they acquired them. I think that's played out and unfolded in a big way. for him and them with each passing week.
Yeah, but each passing week. Man, this is still a the Bengals are still they're going nowhere. Like they're about to go 3-7, unless those Steelers really suck. If the Bengals go 3-7. And I know Joe Burrow wants to come back on Thanksgiving to take on the Baltimore Ravens and what a great triumphant return that would be on Thanksgiving Day.
Everybody and their mother watching the games while Cursing out family members and drinking beer, and people drinking and smoking, and all types of stuff, anyway. Why? Like why would Joe Burrow come back? Like the Bengals are going to be in the toilet by the time you get further in the toilet. Um Don't climb out the toilet.
Don't get in the toilet. The Bengals Are already there. And speaking of the Bengals. I don't know whose idea this was. Maybe this was the Bengals' idea.
There was this entire report I'm pretty sure you know by now. I mean, for the past several seasons, the NFL Players Association has publicly. gone ahead and published a report card, for all of the teams. the teams that have the best facilities, the worst facilities, the teams that are fran family friendly, the teams that have the best food, that have the best gyms, the teams that have the worst, and organizations that are good and bad. And the Players Association has published these findings and these votes by players anonymously, of course.
to kinda paint a picture of the franchises that are the best and the worst. And these things have been used to try to put pressure, obviously. on the teams to do better.
Okay, for instance, the New York jets a terrible atmosphere. Nobody likes the owner. Kansas City Chiefs a couple of seasons ago. They said that their workout facilities, even though they were the champs and the champs and champs again, that they had some of the worst.
Okay? Nobody wants to hear that, and it ultimately prompted change. Their facilities got better, So these These these anonymous surveys have worked out for the benefit of the players. But apparently the NFL says No more. The NFL has apparently told the Players Association, stop playing.
Publishing these report cards because it violates our mutual agreement. With the collective bargaining agreement, our contract between the players and owners. And ultimately, the NFL says. that there is a clause in their contract, in their agreement that says We will not publicly disparage. each other.
And I'm like, come on now. and I fell as bein' so damn petty. The Players Association puts out some facts. And the NFL is just having a fit.
Well, is the NFL just going to muzzle everybody who criticizes an ownership group? I mean, we all know the bangles are cheap. I don't need an NFL Players' Association report card to tell me that. I mean, we had TJ Hoochmanzada a couple of years ago. He was sittin' on the Colin Cowherd show.
And he was basically telling us how cheap they were. Do you remember this? I don't even remember. We didn't have bottled water or Gatorade, and it was crazy because we first got it. Guys would be taking Backpacks full of Gatorade home.
And every day, you were like in the water boy, like the literal movie, The Walker Boy Locker Room with the bad water. The year before I got there, Willie Anderson was telling me. They didn't even have jock straps. They would buy, get a bunch of used jock straps, throw them in the middle of the locker room, and say, Here you go.
So he. Oh, God, that is not. Did you just say used jock straps? Yeah, this is what I was told from, and Willie Anderson was a first-round pick. He said, Willie Anderson.
And I want to say, didn't they draft the running back from Penn State? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And Johnna Carter? Yes. So they were the guys that had money because they were first-round picks.
So they just went and bought a bunch of them and gave them to guys. Come on, what are we doing? Like that didn't come out from no players association survey. And that clip was from, I don't know, five years ago or something like that. How cheap are the bangles?
I mean, it was only, what, a couple of months ago? That boomer Ossiason who is in their ring of honor. The Bengals are like, hey, we're gonna honor the next edition. And they told Boomer Scienson, but yeah, bro, you got to buy your own ticket.
Well, what are we talking about? This guy won an MVP with the team. Listen to this. The Bengals organization is excited to celebrate our Legends community and kindly invite you and a guest to join us in celebrating Dave Lapham and Lamar Parrish on Ring of Honor weekend in October, culminating. At our game on Sunday, October 26th, when the Bengals take on the New York Jets.
That's awesome. That's awesome. That's very, very nice. More details are below, and we kindly ask you our SVP no later than Friday, August 22nd.
So that's today. That's today. Wow.
So gotta make a decision to guarantee your seats. Our Okay. Ring of Honor weekend, you and a guest can receive two complimentary tickets with an opportunity to purchase an additional if you wish to our celebratory events below by submitting the RSVP form. The Ring of Honor reception at PACOR Stadium on Saturday, October 25th, 4 to 7 p.m. Bingles vs.
Jets, halftime Ring of Honor induction ceremony, Sunday, October 26th, kickoff is 1 p.m. Boom, boom. If you are traveling in for the weekend, From out of town, we have secured a block of rooms at the Residence Cincinnati Downtown Hotel. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Renaissance, Renaissance.
A block of rooms. Usually, when people say a block of rooms, it's like a wedding thing, and you have to go on there and say, I'm part of this party. Yeah, but this is why they sent it.
So the Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel. at a preferred discounted rate. Yeah, you gotta buy your own Bengals can't pay for a hotel room. Look, come on, man. Bengals are going to bang.
And by the way, that did not need to come from an NFL Players Association survey. And so. For the NFL. who got all his money in, is used to being bossy to everybody. They they can't take the truth from the Players' Association?
They don't like the fact that they're being openly criticized. The owners can't stand the heat. Man, these owners are making billions of dollars, and they're mad that laymans like me are basically calling them cheapskates. Like, come on, man. Y'all get over it.
The NFL. is being soft in that regard. The league is being soft. One of my favorite things in the NFL league year. Is when the Players Association, this is separate from the NFL, of course, when the Players Association comes out with these surveys.
Like when we found out the Jacksonville Jaguars, had rats in their facility. Botcher, do you remember that? Actually I don't, but I'm not surprised. Uh there's a lot of bad things going on in Jacksonville, especially with former coaches too.
Well, you calling you calling uh Urban Meyer a rat? No, he was just abusive. No.
Well, he was also hanging out with a woman that wasn't his wife. Yeah, there's a a lot of things happened with Urban Mario there. A lot of things happen in Jacksonville. I've had some experiences in Jacksonville, nothing that I could talk about. On the radio.
Oh. Any but what? Excuse me? Oh, yeah, sure. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
Hey, speaking of. Speaking of urban mire.
Well, he ain't coaching nowhere right now. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, we're not going to talk about these miserable ass sensitive owners. Oh, I can't stand the players called me cheap. Oh, they're talking bad about me.
Oh, no, it was terrible. We're going to talk some college football. We're going to be joined by Dan Walken, who covers all things college football for USA today. We're going to talk about some of these big matchups. We got the Bulldogs in Texas.
We got Notre Dame at Pitt. We're going to get Dan Walken's thoughts on the college football playoff. There's a lot to do. You're locked in. You're tuned in.

On the Infinity Sports network. And we we got some big games coming up as the The college football season is is winding down. We got some Openings with coaches. Coaches have been fired. We got coaches suing for their buyouts.
I mean, we got action on the field, action off the field. And joining us right now to talk about all things college football. Welcome back to the show, Dan Walkin. Dan, how are you, man? Doing great.
How are you? I'm very well. Thank you for the time. I mean, before we talk about some of the action that we'll see tomorrow. What the heck?
Do we just got an ongoing storyline with LSU?
Now we got Brian Kelly. He has to sue for his money. Who's in the wrong here?
Well, look, when you sign a contract as a school with a coach. then you need to live up to the terms of the contract. I for me, it's just that simple. And You can air whatever dirty laundry you want about Brian Kelly, and there are some things that maybe people could look at and say, hey, that wasn't great. But The job is to coach a football team, and Brian Kelly was fired because he didn't win enough ball games.
So I think if you're LSEU, you got to live up to the terms of those agreements. And you gotta pay the man his money. Gotta pay the man the money. I mean, so do you think this is something that's gonna be in the legal system for years? I mean, now that they've pretty much refused, is it gonna change?
Well, I don't know how long it's going to take, but If LSU is not going to pay The terms of the buyout that they agreed to when they signed them to that initial contract. then it either goes to a settlement or it goes to court. And that's going to be up to Brian Kelly and his attorneys. How they want to handle that. And obviously there's Certain things that LSU believes that has up its sleeve is leverage.
And that's what this is now, it's the leverage game.
So It's all in the hands of the lawyers. We'll see how it all shakes out. But look, Brian Kelly's going to make a lot of money. I don't know if it's going to be $53 million or $43 million or $37 million. At that point, it probably doesn't even matter.
Uh but he's gonna go for everything he feels like he's owed, which is In my opinion, The entire length of that contract. Dan Wolkin is here with us, covers all things college athletics for Yahoo sports. You know, Dan, thinking about the action, we got a full weekend here. I know here in Atlanta, we're all. thinking about what's going to happen between the Bulldogs and Texas and what Arch Manning has been able to do to pick things up.
What can we expect in this matchup and what are some of the implications as we move towards an SAC title game?
Well, Texas has two losses. Obviously, if they get a third loss, that Could them On the very fringe of the playoff race. I don't know that it totally eliminates them, but it makes it really, really hard. They need to win this game at Georgia, and that's not going to be easy. Georgia's at home, it's a night game.
And even though Georgia is very much an imperfect football team, they're really good at winning games. They find a way week in and week out. They're physically tough, they're mentally tough. And they believe that they're going to win. You know, again.
Is this not the same Georgia team? that we saw in 2021. When, or even 2020, when they were dominating everybody. Um But They have Just enough skill offensively and defensively. They make the game hard.
Their starters are very good. Obviously, the depth is a concern every time they play. But At home, I I think you gotta like George's chances in this game. And it'll be really interesting to see if Texas takes that third loss. Are they out of the playoff?
Are they on the fringe of it? Are they still alive? To me, for Texas, that'll be the conversation going forward if they lose. If they win, Then the entire narrative changes and I think they're very much back in the national championship picture.
Well, Dan, we know that the rankings that came out on Tuesday for the college football playoff were unchanged from what we saw in the first release of it last week. Ohio State at number one. We expected them to be a major contender. Indiana undefeated at number two. Texas AM at three.
Alabama at number four. Four. How serious do you take Indiana and Texas AM when it comes down to being contenders? They don't get as much attention as some of the other schools.
Well, Indiana, I think you have to put right up there. Given some of their wins, they went on the road at Penn State, and I know Penn State's had a tough season, but that's still a very talented team. to go in and win on the road, to win the way they did, driving down the field at the end of the game. Super impressive. They've wanted Oregon.
They're legit. I don't think there's any reason. to question what Indiana has done Texas A and M Defensively They've had some games where it looks a little shaky. They've had some close wins. I don't think their SEC schedule has been nearly as demanding or as tough as Some teams in that league, but They're very good.
They're undefeated. I they haven't done anything wrong.
So text C and M in my mind. You know, I think maybe just a slight cut below Ohio State. I don't think they're quite as good, quite as talented, but they belong in the conversation. And I think they're going to be 11-0. Heading into Austin when they would have to play Texas in that final game of the regular season.
That could be a game with a whole lot at stake. Dan Wilkin is here with us, college sports reporter for Yahoo. When you think about another game that we have tomorrow, these are two teams that are on the I won't say outside looking in, but they're certainly not at the top of the college football playoff rankings. We got Notre Dame and then we have Pittsburgh. Notre Dame currently sitting at number nine, and Pittsburgh is basically, well, barely in the top, 25.
What can we expect from Notre Dame the rest of the way, especially with this matchup tomorrow against Pitt?
Well, to me, this game, I think the giveaway was earlier in the week. When Pat Narduzzi, the head coach of Pitt, that he doesn't care if they lose by a hundred points. to Notre Dame. They want to win the ACC championship. And that makes sense.
It's very honest. Um Pitt has no path to the college football playoff unless they win the ACC title. And I think that suggests that at least internally it hit. This is not the most important game they've been preparing for. Rather, next week when they have to play Georgia Tech, That's the game they care about a lot more than Notre Dame.
Obviously. Anytime you get Notre Dame at home, it's a huge opportunity, a huge stage. And I'm sure a lot of people in the organization really care about performing well, but The reality of the situation for Pitt is it does not matter if they beat Notre Dame. It only matters if they Georgia Tech. But Dan, looking forward into this weekend, are there any other matchups that catch your eye that we should pay attention to?
Um Look, I mean... We don't know exactly how all of this is going to go from week to week in college football. You know, South Florida's got to go to Navy. That's a good football game. You know, Oklahoma's gonna play at Alabama.
I think that's kind of an elimination game for Oklahoma. At this point, they're 7-2. They need to win this game. I I believe they have a a a really good chance at the college football playoff. Florida et al.
Miss is a game with a lot of interesting implications because Lane Kiffin is In very much in the eye of the storm with regard to the Florida coaching search.
So all of those things are going to be really interesting, but uh Yeah, I mean Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame Pitt. Um And then uh You know, and then obviously Texas, Georgia, those are the games that matter the most.
Well, Dan, you mentioned coaching vacancies. We all hear the rumors about Lane Kiffin every day. It's another team, and I even saw a rumor today about potentially the Tennessee Titans having interest, and I just have to laugh. What is the likelihood that we have a guy like Lane Kiffen moving on to, let's say, the Gators in Gainesville or maybe even somewhere else? Do you think we're going to see a big move in the offseason?
It's certainly possible. Lane Kiffen is either going to stay at Ole Miss. We just gotta go to Florida. or he's going to go to the NFL. I think the three options for him.
What's the most likely at this point? I really can't give you a good answer. He's kept things close to the vest. Not a lot of information out there. Um you you talk to different people, you hear different things, but Uh the thing right now for Lane Kippen is any of those three options are going to give him what he wants from a contract standpoint.
So it's really just about What makes him most comfortable and where he feels like he's got the best chance of success. And That's going to depend on his state of mind, and I don't think any of us can truly or accurately project what that's going to be. Dan, not too much success going on in Boulder right now.
So many changes. With Deion Sanders' health issues and offensive issues and roster issues, we know he's in the midst of a big old contract. Do you see him sticking around in Colorado too much longer? No, no, I don't. I wouldn't be surprised if he steps down after this year.
We'll see what happens. I don't have any. information specifically relating to that. I'm just sort of spitballing and projecting. Rick George, the Athletic Director of Colorado.
is stepping down. It's going to be a new regime there. Dion, with his health issues, the fact that his sons no longer play for him. He doesn't have Travis Hunter anymore. It's been a tough year.
It's been a challenging. year, how how long does he want to do this? How much does he want to put into it? We'll see, but I I would not be surprised at all if he just kind of pulled the plug on this thing in the offseason. Mm, yeah, well, w we only got a couple more weeks to see.
If that takes place and we got a couple more weeks before we get to championship games and get into the college football playoff, we're going to blink and we're going to be right there. Hey, Dan, we appreciate the time. Please tell everybody how they can keep up with you, follow you, all your work with Yahoo. Fill us in. Yeah, just hit that Yahoo Sports act.
We're on there and uh we got good stuff.
So uh Download that to your phone, put that on your iPad, whatever you use. And uh look at it every day. Hey, listen, we appreciate you, Dan. Enjoy all the action tomorrow. Have a great weekend.
We'll catch you soon. All right. Thank you. Thank you so much, Dan Walkin, for joining us. Covers all things college, sports, Yahoo.
Yeah, I mean the more you see, the more you hear. Especially out in Colorado, there's so many changes. It's like, is Deion Sanders going to stick around? I go, Now we got the athletic director. He's going to now be an advisor?
I mean, this is less incentive. for Deion Sanders to stick around. And now he has an out. If you're Deion Sanders, you can run around and say, hey, listen, the guy that brought me in... is not here, I don't want to be here.
Aye. Am leaving. Let's see if that takes place. It's just Things are starting to stack up against Deion Sanders and I think he's uh He may be leaning towards his swan song. in Colorado.
It's the JR Sport Brie Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Speaking of a swan song, we know it feels like forever ago. But Nico Harrison got fired by the Dallas Mavericks.

And the college football season is going to be done. We're going to get to conference championship games. We're going to have the college football playoff, I mean, with a new format. playoff is is about a month away from starting. Damn.
Time flies. It's about to be Thanksgiving. In less than two weeks. And I know everybody hit the fast forward button and we've all Just automatically have gone to Christmas, but I mean, damn. Almost at Thanksgiving, just in two weeks away.
Eight at eight seven ten four ISN that's eight at eight seven ten four ISN one thing we know for sure You know, you start pulling up on Thanksgiving. This is that oh, this is that time of year. Relationships get strained. Relationships get outed. People get the beefing.
You see people that you only see once a year, now you see them twice a year. People are in your house that you don't want to see. You gotta visit friends and relatives that you want nothing to do with. Oh, things get dicey. Relationships start, relationships fail.
Yeah. They say it's the most wonderful time of the year. For some, For some people it can be.
Okay, and speaking of a dicey relationship, earlier this week we learned that Nico Harrison no longer The general manager president of the Dallas Mavericks.
Well, we heard from a couple of people who are familiar with him. They will be directly tied to him for the rest of their career. Luka Doncich was asked about the firing of Nico Harrison, and Luka is just like, listen, bruh. This ain't none of my business. Leave me alone.
I ain't got nothing to do with it. City of Dallas, the fans, uh some players They always have a special place in my heart. You know, I thought I was gonna stay there forever, but I didn't. Uh so there'll always be a special place for me, always I can call it home. Uh But right now I'm focused on the Lakers, you know, trying to move on.
Uh, but obviously, always there's gonna be part of me in there, uh, but Just trying to move on, uh focus on what we're doing here. With Nico now gone, and you obviously have a lot of fans back in Dallas. Is there a world in which you could ever see yourself playing for that franchise ever again, perhaps one day down the road? Right now I'm just focused on the Lakers, man. Wow.
There's no further comments. Yeah, but what type of question is like, come these Ah. Like I get asking some questions. The man just signed a contract extension with the Lakers. The guy was just traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.
And you're gonna stand in front of him and go.
Well the guy who traded you got fired. You ever think you're gonna go back to Dallas? Like, just shut up with the dumb questions. Come on. He's not going to give an answer.
There is no answer. Like just let him be a Laker. It's not like he's been in Los Angeles for five, six, seven, eight years and won two championships and now he's returning to Dallas and his contracts extending or coming to an end and you want to ask him, hey, do you think about coming back? Even then you're not going to get an answer. But it that's ridiculously.
premature. You might as well ask me what I'm gonna have for dinner on I don't know. April 11th, 2026. I don't know. Why are you asking Luka Dante such dumbass questions?
Come on, man. Yeah, it's coming up. Poor I was gonna say poor Luca. He ain't poor, he's rich, he's wealthy.
Someone else, he's 18 years old, he ain't poor either. He just got to the NBA. That's Cooper Flag. The Dallas Mavericks lucked out with getting the number one overall pick. You know, I mean, and Nico Harrison still got fired.
But Cooper Flag, he just got here. And they're asking him questions about Nico Harrison. And he was asked whether or not this situation was a distraction. He's like, Yo, I just got here. This is above my pay grade.
Why y'all askin' me this? I mean, there's always noise. You know, there's been noise through college. I mean, there was noise when I was in high school. I mean, obviously, as you go from level to level, it.
Gets more and more, and there's a lot, you know, might get more challenging to deal with, but you. There's always gonna be noise, there's always social media now, just in today's day where we're growing up and going through. There's you know, social media is a a big part of that, and you just have to find ways to deal with it. You know, there's always gonna be distractions, there's always gonna be stuff going on, people saying, you know, hate, whatever.
So That's just something we have to deal with. We need more professionals, and we just got to continue to do our job. Um keep basketball at the the forefront and can you to worry about that?
Okay. You concerned that the guy got fired? Did y'all get along? What happened, Cooper? I mean, for me it's it's about, you know, basketball.
Um Now obviously I didn't have an incredibly long relationship with Nico, but You know, from when I knew him, he seemed like a really great guy, and we had a really solid relationship. End of the day, I'm here to play basketball and you know, whatever goes on, you know, above me. It's above me, so I can't worry about it too much. Just kind of keep trying to show up and be who I am and trying to get better every single day. It's above me now.
It's just it's it's hilarious, man. The NBA is a funny league. It is absolutely hilarious. asking about these guys. Like I don't I don't know the guy.
Like, I've been here for what, four months, five months? Why are you asking me about this dude? I don't know. My check's still coming in. Good.
I don't care what the heck. Who the GM? Tell Jason Kidd he could be the GM. I don't care. As long as it checks are still coming through.
Speaking of checks coming through, and speaking of the Lakers We know that J.J. Reddick is the head coach of the Lakers, and he He hasn't had the benefit of LeBron James being out there on the court yet. Luca is playing out of his mind, actually, playing the Pelicans right now. 37 to 35. Um Chris Finch Well he is the head coach of the Minnesota Timber Wolves.
and he was sitting down with Zack Low. And they were just, you know, just shooting a you know what on a live podcast. And they were talking about experience and who has a job. And Zach Lowe was saying this is podcast thing is new to me. And then Chris Finch took the opportunity to throw a lob And not a good one.
At J J Reddick, listen. My wife was worried about me. She's like, You're such a workaholic. What are you going to do? And I was like, Watch.
Watch how amazing I am at doing nothing. It was great. I mean, I bet you. Three-quarters of these people are going to go home and do a podcast tonight, you know? You're going with the anti-media tropes right out of the gate.
I mean, it'll qualify you to coach the Lakers, you know. Hmm. Oh J.J. Reddick is going to be asked about that one. Hey, did you hear Chris Finch reference you to being a podcaster?
And J.J. Reddick is going, Yes, I did. He is intense as hell. I mean, in the podcast, I mean, he was a jerk, and on TV, he was also a jerk.
So, I guess being the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, there's no big. Surprise here. And Chris Finch, good for him on having a sense of humor. It ain't nothing too serious to take. Bacha, you think J.J.
Reddick is gonna he's gonna be asked about this? Is he just gonna Just quickly defuse the situation and just go, I don't think anything of it, or is he going to have some smart ass remark back? He's going to be a smart ass about it. We already know this. Uh if he was personable and I would say a I wouldn't I don't wanna say he's a bad person, but if he was funny He would just say nothing and probably say a joke back or something like that.
Maybe you should get into podcasting with your record or whatever it is.
Something like that.
So, you think he's going to go after Chris Finch and the Wolves? Yeah, he should say something funny, being like, Yeah, I learned all I know from podcasting or something like that. But he's not going to, he's going to go after the Wolves. Oh wow, ouch. And I I didn't know Chris Finch had a a personality.
The most I knew about this guy, I mean, well, outside of coaching the wolves, is that time where he broke his leg and was sitting behind a bench with his his leg in a cast.
So Yeah. I'll I'll I'm here for some coach beef. We haven't had coach beef in a long time. And J.J. Reddick, I mean, he could win the championship, and I feel like he'd still be a curmudgeon.
He's just. He's just grouchy all the time. I mean, and by the way, I saw LeBron James's working out with the G Leaguers and it's um I guess we can expect to see LeBron back sooner than later. And how he fits in with this team is It's to be seen. Bacha, didn't you say he needs to be the third option.
Yeah, he's got to be the third option on the Lakers and take a step back just because Reeves and Luka have been so good. And Maybe he's starting to acknowledge that. I really doubt it just because his playstyle is so ball-dominant that I don't know if he's going to do it. LeBron James, the role player? Is this what you're saying?
Yeah, but he's he's in his forties at this point. He shouldn't be expected every single year. To have to put up all star numbers. Why not just let Father Time do? Do its thing, and you're just a role player.
I mean, if you can be an all-star, don't you want to be an all-star? If you can still be an all-star, why do you want to be a role player? Just because he's old? Because every time he's tried to be an all-star the last couple years, he's had a bad ankle, a bad groin, he's had sciatica now. Maybe take a step back.
Well this He is taking a step back. He's not playing. Yeah, and that's the problem.
Well, when he plays, he can be an all-star. I don't know. If I'm LeBron James, I'm like, screw y'all. If I could be an all-star, I'm going to max out and be an all-star. What are we gonna do?
Send him to the words so he could put up numbers? It's the JR Sport Reeshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. And we'll talk more about this on the other side. We'll give you an update on everything going on in the NFL. We've had a full show.
