Rich recaps the Cowboys’ wild Week 12 win over the Commanders and ponders if Dallas could actually make the playoffs this season, and says why he has “big time” concerns for Washington after their 3rd-straight loss.

Rich weighs in on the vastly improved Carolina Panthers under the Bryce Young we were all expecting coming out of Alabama, debates who’s to blame for the continuing struggles of Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears, and breaks down the logjam in the NFC West.

Good. Spencer Schrader and the Chiefs lock it off. Earlier on the show, ESPN NFL analyst and Super Bowl champion Jason Kelsey. Coming up, latest news and more. And now it's Rich Eizen. Our number three of the Rich Eizen Show is on the air.

844-204-RICHES. The number to Tom will take your phone calls this hour. Just said farewell to hanging out with Jason Kelsey for 40 minutes last hour. Kind enough for him to come into our studio. Chop up some of the headlines in the National Football League and then just talk about what's going on in his life. Fourth kid late night show coming. Here we go. Man, a lot going on.

Fourth girl. My goodness. Do you think when he retired he realized he'd be busier now than he was when he actually came? I thought retirement was for taking it easy. Well, it's retirement from football and then turning the page to obviously a new career and he's hitting all the right notes.

Strike wild tot. Hitting all the right notes. He even complimented me on the Cowboys win yesterday. I said, Jason, don't.

When you said that, I didn't take it as a compliment. Then he found out about the Caro Anthony towns trolling and he was a little too happy about that. No, no, no. I mean, listen, you know, once an Eagle kind of always an Eagle and the Cowboys came up with one though. Gotta give it up. He gets one. He gotta give it up.

That was one of the weirdest games I've ever seen. Cooper rush season is on and I know it didn't look good when he came into the game for Dak. And then last week it didn't. But this guy can play quarterback in the national football league and he can get you some wins over a four to six week period. And that's what the Cowboys need out of him. Cause the Cowboys are in that nether region.

They, I'll say it. They tainting the running for the first overall. And, and they're also not going to be in the situation of losing every game for that or making the playoffs. They need wins. They need wins.

They need, they need to string together some wins here and, and make people feel like there there's something going on in the room. And he made some plays and CD lamb was making plays and Rico Daddle was running the football. Defense made some plays. This game, you know, was very similar to Thursday night football between two division rivals that just don't like each other. And by that, I mean, you've got a game where there's not a lot of scoring going on through the first three quarters. As a matter of fact, there was only one touchdown.

The Cowboys had only one touchdown and Washington had only one touchdown and they missed an extra point. And then it was on this game was so boring for dude. It was 10, nine going into the fourth quarter. I was just sitting there like, and there was 41 points scored in the fourth. And I'm so glad I didn't turn the game off. Cause I almost did. Well, I mean, there were, let me get this right here.

Let me put this in front of me so I can get it appropriately. Correct. There were multiple gaffes to start this game. Three missed field goal, one block field goal, two missed field goals to start the game. And then in the fourth quarter of this contest, I mean the Cowboys go up 13-9, and then there's a fumble on the kickoff.

Oh, pardon me. There's, there's, there's a fumble. The, uh, the Washington commanders fumbled the ball on the first play of their drive.

The Cowboys cash it in for a touchdown and make it 20 to nine. And that's when Jayden Daniels finally started putting his back foot in the ground and making throws and making throws and a nine play drive, a two point conversion is no good. The ensuing kickoff, Robert Turpin, pardon me, not Robert Turpin, Kavanti Turpin, mishandles, pirouettes and takes it for a touchdown. And just when you think it's all over, the commanders marched down the field, get in position for a 51 yard field goal.

And I'm thinking to myself, why are they doing that with a guy who can't kick straight? And why are they doing that when, you know, it's at the 51 yard situation and it was to make it a one score game, Seibert makes the field goal. Then the commanders get the three and out that they need and after that, when Jayden Daniels found Terry McLaurin for an 86 yard touchdown and McLaurin ran through the Cowboys defense. And I thought to myself, holy cow, I was screaming in my house only to have Seibert miss the extra point. And then comes the onside kick that the Cowboys for some reason pick up and return it so that commanders have one last shot.

Yeah. He got caught up. It went from Cowboys are definitely winning this to the commanders have a shot to the commanders have no shot to holy cow. They tied it.

No, they didn't. They missed the extra point to wait a minute. I can't believe they have one last shot. Cause the Cowboys decided to not just take a knee after getting the onside kick. You could even see a shot of McCarthy after the onside kick was returned for a touchdown saying, why, why, why are you doing that? Yeah. It's like, dude, just fall down. Now, now we've got to play defense one more time.

Yeah. And so Mike McCarthy, let's give a, we played so many sound bites of him, sounded down and out and answering questions that he really doesn't have any answers to because they all are answers that Jerry Jones is going to have to answer at some point. And he doesn't have any more runway left on his contract after this season. So we might as well play him in victory. Hit it. Everything else aside, standing aside, what does the win do for this team after what you've been through the last couple of years? Oh, we needed it. I mean, it's been frustrating, no doubt. We've acknowledged that.

I think that, I think everybody, you know, in our circles has been very accountable for it. But I think you're getting a good look at who we are. You know, we just a tremendous fight.

They, they fought from the, you know, the time that ball was kicked off in the beginning and all the way down to the end. That's what this team's about. You know, hopefully we can continue to get healthy and we got to win this next one. You know, and that was a division game. That's, that's a big win for us.

And we got another one right around the corner here. So it'd be nice to get, you know, get some wins and get some momentum. In the same way, I was saying earlier that the cow, the Giants need to show up on Thanksgiving with some serious fight in them. And they need to show up and compete as opposed to being non-competitive like they were against the Buccaneers, because the whole country is going to watch. Jerry wants to see Zeke jump into that kettle. And he wants to see Cooper Rush find C.D. Lamb and have this fan base that has not seen a win at home in six straight, enjoy their Thanksgiving and show everybody in front of the country that the Cowboys still can put on a show on Thanksgiving.

That's important. Certainly if coaches and players are fighting for their right to still wear the star and Dallas after that has a Monday night at home against Cincinnati. And if they do that, they'll be six and seven going into a game at Carolina. And if they do that, they're seven and seven and a Sunday nighter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Jones Mahal.

And if they do that, they go into Philadelphia feeling really good about themselves and having a shot. Why not? Only to have maybe this be one of two things. One of two things.

A real scenario or Scatman Crothers coming all the way from sunny Florida through the snow just to get an axe in the chest in Philadelphia, Danny Black or or what do you think? T.J., we're giving you a new life here. You came up with a win.

Hey, Rick, you weren't here. You don't know or maybe didn't know I was given an option to yeah, leave. Had to tear the contract up five years for five years. I had to tear it up.

What do you mean? We offered him a five year deal to get out of the Cowboys and then he can revisit in 2013. Was this when Mike Hill was hosting? Yeah, because I said, I want to leave and you won't let you sign it. Brotman drew up the contract. I wrote up a contract. We had a witness, Jay Felley, as an official notary. He notarized it and got to the end of the show and I handed it to him. Hang on a minute.

Tore it up. Felley's really an official notary? Yeah, Felley's an official notary. We can get stuff notarized here? I have no idea. Felley's a notary.

I've been wanting to be a notary for a while and he's told me like yeah. Perfect. Who knew I had two sound engineers with such layers? Exactly. Oh, it's easy. Mike's asking me, Mike's asking me, Hoskins was just asking me how you do it. It's not that hard. You just go online and take the I was going to do it. Felley actually did notarize something for me. It's like being able to marry someone.

So where are we? Did you rip up a notarized document? It didn't get notarized, but I did tear it up.

Had he signed it, we would have gotten it. In all seriousness, there was an overreaction Monday subject on the overreaction Monday pod that's ready for you to either listen wherever you get your pods or watch on our YouTube channel. Chris Brotman said the Cowboys are making the playoffs and the commanders are not.

I told him that was an overreaction. Your Cowboys, got to start stringing them together. They win this one on Thanksgiving, they're stringing it together. And then, and then, and then tell me you're not going to be watching on that Monday night with Joe Burrow and in the Jones Mahal, right? Okay. That's crazy talk though. That's crazy talk. I told you at the beginning of the year, right? We're going to have 11 days off going into this Bengals game and they're going to come off a tough short week playing the Steelers. So, but who cares? That's down the road.

We're on the New York right now. Tommy cutlets. There is less pie. Yes. More pikes is Thanksgiving.

That's true. Sweet potato. I think it's a pie in the sky. Speaking of Thanksgiving. This takes a nice chunk out of the pie. They had to have it. Cowboys had to have it. Yeah. Now then, you know how I've been talking about the Washington commanders quite a bit on this program.

Good reason. Had a great start. Jayden Daniels as well. They're just making way too many mistakes to win football games in the National Football League right now. And they are 0-3 in their last three. And here comes the Tennessee Titans in the house and look what the Tennessee Titans did to a divisional opponent this past week. They just beat the Texans.

I don't know what the hell. Brian Robinson got hurt again. He is hurt again. Jayden Daniels for the first three quarters looked lost. Lost. Absolutely lost. And then, you know, and Micah's showing up. Micah showed up. Yeah.

But I do not know. The defense though, the defensive side of the ball has fallen apart. That's now three straight games in which the opponent has gotten 25 points or better or 26 or better.

Yeah. Cowboys just put 34 up on this team. It's not just all defense. There were special teams, Gaffs. The kicker couldn't kick straight. Jayden Daniels took three quarters until he finally started getting some rhythm going.

That one to Terry McLaurin was long time coming because McLaurin was getting ready to have fewer than 20 yards receiving again. They turn the ball over too many times. They're playing too much mistake football. And the question is who can go get them? Right now you think the commanders are not making the playoffs at seven and five right now.

It doesn't feel like they are. Okay. And there's a six and five team that's certainly sitting in the NFC West that can go get them. Whoever doesn't finish in second place in the NFC West. Whoever doesn't finish in first in the NFC West can go get them. Right. Right.

I don't know. Tampa might make it too. Tampa could make it too.

That's the one. I have a little bit more faith in Tampa than Arizona at the moment. Guess what? Week one of this season, Jayden Daniels' first career start, Tampa won it.

That's right. That is looming. That is looming right now. The commanders have a game against Tennessee. Tampa is at Carolina, which is not going to be easy. So I'm looking at Tampa as on the commander's radar screen. That wasn't when the commanders were seven and two, but they're seven and five right now. I am concerned about the commanders.

Big time. 844-204 Rich. Number to dial. Rich in Maryland. You're here on the Rich Eisen Show. Do you share my sentiment, Rich? Yes, I do. I'm actually a very salty commander fan.

That game took years off my life and I have no hair left because I was tearing it out the entire game. But yeah, I'm extremely concerned and I think that heads need to start rolling over at Commander's Park. I think they need to send cyber packing. They need a new kicker because I think, to be real, I think either of us talking right now could have made those two extra points he missed. And I think they need to send Cliff Kingsbury packing. And I know that sounds crazy, but since the Bears game, the offense has just not been the same and they keep lining McLaurin up on the left side of the formation.

They're not moving them around to create mismatches. The offensive line scheme is not protecting Jaden. And maybe a fresh face, maybe Brian Johnson comes in and gives him the spark, kind of like what Thomas Brown's doing in Chicago, but it is not pretty right now. And it would not surprise me if Tennessee beat him up pretty good next week because they're starting to look good. Well, I'm wondering again if Jaden Daniels is healthy.

He has that big flak jacket around him and he's so slight of build, it just sticks out, you know? And I know Dan Quinn said he's not injured, but that doesn't mean he's healthy. And at least yesterday though, guy had 70 yards rushing on a score and looked spry a couple times, scoring for one, a two-point conversion on another.

At least you saw that. He is a rookie at the end of the day. Yes, exactly right. So I don't know if it's a Kingsbury thing, but it'll be interesting to see if Dan Quinn swaps out kickers because that's a bold move when you're hitting week 12.

That is a bold move and they got to come up with a win in Tennessee. And by the way, Rich, it's okay if you have no hair left. We're fine here with that. The ball is beautiful, seriously. What are we doing? Honestly, thanks for the call, Rich. Appreciate it. It's not that big of a deal.

I save so much money on hair products. Then they're at New Orleans. So Jaden Daniels is back in Louisiana, home for Philly, home for Atlanta. That's a big game. That one could be on NFL Network, too. Or that one could be on network television.

And then at Dallas. Five left for the commanders, three in a row losses. I am concerned.

That's the headline. 844-204, Rich. Remember to dial more phone calls. When we come back, we'll talk NFC West. You can get it. We're back on here. There he goes.

He doesn't want to be on camera. Come on, Coop. You come chill with me in the corner. It's okay. It's okay. Come on over there.

Look at this grown man who just, don't strong arm Coop into doing what he did. That's all right. Jump in, jump in, jump in. Go ahead. Jump in. All right. Oh boy. His brother's going to be pissed.

Good. So tall. He's too tall for the camera.

He's too tall. There he is. He came up to me when I walked in and he's like, TJ. And I'm like, whoa, who is this? Coop, just before you just go in.

What's your theory about Chief Sands? Go ahead. Go in there. It's been pretty rough in the house because Zender obviously is a big Taylor Swift fan. And then the Chiefs have won two in a row.

And then some of my friends are like, well, that's how I felt when the Pats would win all the time. Maybe it's kind of like, I'm not drinking my own medicine. Like, but he like, he's a big Taylor Swift fan. Right. So, and he's like, oh my God, Travis Kelsey is the man. He's the best. He is. I mean, he is, he is great, but it's, it's like, it's gone out of control.

Like, like if you go into like probably an arrowhead, there's probably like, maybe like 50% of the fans might be just there to see like Taylor Swift. No, that's not true. Keep going, keep going. Don't let them talk to you. Yeah.

Keep going. And they probably don't even know what the Tomahawk chop is. So like, they're like, that's not true. I mean, there's some kids who are like way crazier about this than me, but I think that the Chiefs, I mean, obviously they're in a very successful and amazing organization and their stadium is pretty awesome.

And it's great to watch them play football because they're an amazing team and they have what it takes to go three in a row. That's the voice of Cooper Eisen. Our radio audience just returned, my 13 year old, which means my 16 year old Xander will demand equal time on the Rich Eisen show.

So he's going to use Cooper's appearance as a, as a springboard to appear here. But in all seriousness, though, Coop, where did you get this from that the referees and Roger Goodell are rooting for the, rooting for the Chiefs? Where did you get that from?

Certainly from dad or mom. It's mostly been a joke. Like, like it's just like a funny joke around school and mostly a joke. That's what you've been trying to pry out of this entire time. Like lots of people got mad last year when Dan Skipper like tried to report as eligible, but Brian Allen just walked away from him. Like, did you see that last year? Cause your account was man.

That's why that was against the rules anyway. Okay. Well, hopefully, hopefully the past can have a good end to the year. It's been a bit rough. Like we're averaging like 10 false starts a game. It's pretty bad.

But you like, do you like Drake May though? Right? Easy. Looks amazing.

You need to give him weapons and a good offensive line, offensive line weapons and a new head coach. Yeah. What are you talking about?

Don't, don't rope my 13 year old into the droit. Gerard Mayo called our players soft in Germany. That doesn't count in Germany, but it's okay though. It doesn't count when you're in England. Oh yeah.

Oh, in England. Yeah, that doesn't count. Stupid penalties is a reflection of lack of preparation. Yeah, he's not prepared. But what happened, you know, when the Patriots went ahead and, uh, and beat the Bears? What was that? They look pretty prepared doing that.

Matt Eberfluss is a worse coach than Gerard Mayo. That's what that is. They have a bad offensive core at that time. Like they didn't know what they were doing at that point. So like that was more, that was like luck kind of for the Pats. Cause like we got lucky, like, Oh, this team hasn't figured it out offensively. So I mean, hopefully we can make one goal to end of the season on a high note.

And we usually beat the Bills once a year. So hopefully that, um, will come around again. Cooperizing everybody. There it goes. Now he's just going to start making putts on our, by the way, we don't want to win any more games. We need to have a top four pick again. Now you got to get down.

Now you really got to get down. Should the Pats tank or no? No, it's not, it's not tanking. It's competitively losing. It's setting yourself up for the future. What are you teaching them? No, no, no.

Don't build the chance to do what? Stop it. Go sit down. Oh my God. Look at you. Look at you, everybody.

It's going to be a top 10 QB next year. That one demands equal time. He's going to want to speak into two different microphones like his brother did. Cause he definitely keeps track of all this is with free zone back on the radio, rich eyes and show radio network sitting at the rich eyes and show desk furnished by Granger with supplies and solutions for every industry. Granger has the right product for you.

Call click ranger.com or, or just stop by. Kind of just touch on something there. Let's hit this thing here. Um, did we see in the 2024 crystal ball, certainly back in September that on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Bryce young would be redeemed on the same day Caleb Williams is also, and that the fact that Bryce young would be mentioned in the same breath as Caleb Williams is successful day, when both lose as well. That's another one we didn't see coming. But Bryce young, since his return to the lineup, you know, do in many ways to somebody, what, who rear ended or, or car swiped the Dalton's right after a school pickup that he got, he gets back in and he's playing pretty damn well guys. And I know I just went a little higher register there, but he's, he's looking good.

Well, this is what you thought you were getting when you took him first overall last year. Yup. Yup. You know, I mean, let me get this numbers here.

Let's do price. Johnny longer to marinate. He, the team in the last four starts is averaging three touchdowns a game. His first two starts less than a touchdown a game. His completion percentage is over 61%.

It's almost 62%. His passer rating is doubled. And in his first two starts, he took six sacks. Those are the amount of sacks he took in his last four.

He's getting rid of it. He's being accurate. And the Panthers have scored 20 or more points in three straight games for the first time since the middle of 2022.

And how about this? This is unbelievable. The Panthers are the only, the third team to score on 75% or more of their drives in a game against the chiefs in the Andy Reid era, including playoffs.

The only team to win such a game was Tom Brady's Patriots in week six of 2018. Chuba Hubbard's doing his thing. David Moore is scoring touchdowns. Adam Thelen is back. Carolina is not going to be a anyone's homecoming the remainder of this year.

It appears and guess what? You look at Carolina's schedule and every single team on that schedule is on a playoff run. And if Dallas wins its next two, they'll start sniffing that way for themselves. But Tampa, Philly, Dallas, Arizona, Tampa again, and Atlanta. Carolina may have a say in who wins the division and who makes it and who doesn't and what the seeding is and who isn't. And you'd think to yourself, every single person on that schedule earlier on this season, Tampa twice, Philadelphia, Dallas, Arizona, Atlanta, you're saying that's a win.

Not anymore. Kudos to them. You in an overreaction Monday said they're not going to have a top 10 pick in the draft.

Yeah. A little bit ago, I also gave you last week that this game on Sunday was going to be a lot closer than people thought. I mean, this was a 10, 11 point spread against Kansas city and they needed a last minute field goal, last second field goal to win. So yeah, the current draft order for this upcoming draft, Carolina is sitting at five and Dallas at 11 is four and seven. They might not have a top 10 point. One or two more wins and they're right there, you know, in that 10, 11, 12 spot.

As for Chicago, I don't know. Maybe they need an intervention. What do we need? Get on the Ouija board? Do we need to, I don't know that. Or do you look at that as like. What? I know. Yes. Whatever you're, yes.

Yes. I know what you're thinking. I'm trying to find a positive coach. How do you blame the coach when, when, when the guy, you know, I don't know. When they had another field goal blocked again, that whatever problem they have, they didn't fix it.

I don't know. I mean, the defense erased Justin Jefferson. I know Donald had 300 yards elsewhere.

TJ Hockinson had a hundred yards, but Williams is looking better over the last two games. The very bold move of, of, of changing offensive coordinators, I think was, is deemed correct at this point. Don't when you say, when you, would you not say that right now? Oh, for sure.

Okay. So he's running it with his legs a little bit more. He's spreading it out a little bit more. He still holds onto the ball a little too long. Well, certainly in overtime that one was the killer.

That was killer. I'm saying that. I feel like there's stuff that he's getting better.

There's positives that they can point to in some wonky ways. You know, like the, imagine if he had real offensive coaches around him, who knows what they're doing. Dude, he had 340 pass yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions in a passer rating of 103.1. Like that's what you want to see out of him. He's doing it in spite of the coaches around him.

How would you say that? DJ Moore at 106 yards receiving. That's a season high for him.

Season high reception, nine catches for Keenan Allen. That's exactly when you push the button. You wanted to push.

You wanted to see. And here we are two games in, you're seeing it. I can say that because you look at what Bo Nix is doing, not as talented as Caleb Williams and Bo Nix with a great offensive minded head coach has seven wins. And this guy is four. It could have been five if somebody wasn't stunting on a Hail Mary.

No, it would have been five if he had just stayed stunting. Last week, they had a field goal blocked when it was all set up by Caleb Williams to win it. This time around, they got an onside kick go their way, which is one of the only breaks they've had in the last month. And they force overtime as Williams made a throw over the middle to DJ Moore with no room to spare to set up the field goal.

And they actually made it. It wasn't blocked this time only to get the coin toss in overtime. And Williams just held onto the ball. And then the defense got marched on. And the defense got marched on. That's why I'm saying they needed an intervention. Something's not right in Chicago.

The calls are coming from within the house, dude. First team in the last five seasons to trail by 10 or more points with less than 30 seconds remaining in a game to come back and force overtime. And they still have a five game losing streak within a season since they lost 10 straight to close 2022, which brought in all the changes that you're seeing. You know, I mean, it's crazy. Caleb after the game.

I think I'd be honest with you. I really do think it's just how he is helped is just his I don't want to use this word, but or I guess, you know, he's just he has a he has a certain aura to him that he just allows you to play free. He knows what he wants. And, you know, he knows what he wants, whether it's checks alerts and all of that.

We still have a bunch of those and all these different things. But being able to play free, I think there's been times like last game, you know, throughout the whole game, talking to me, communicating to me. And then, you know, when it gets to two minute and like today, end of the game, you know, before OT is just, you know, now it's time to go be Superman and go do all those different things that I can do. But throughout the game, play the game the right way, you know, make adjustments, all these different things. They're hot, you know, make the right reads, play with an offense.

And then when it's time to be Superman is it's kind of what he kind of what he tells tells me. It's talking about Thomas Brown, the new OC, who's clearly vibing with Moore. So they made the right move, pushed the right buttons. It's just not getting wins, dude. And they've had it set up to win two division games at home and said they lost it. Green Bay's won six in a row at Soldier Field. Minnesota's won five in a row at Soldier Field. Now comes Thanksgiving against Detroit. Oh, my goodness gracious. What a bummer for you Bears fans, man.

I don't know. When they left me and I left them in London, I thought, here we go. Coming off the bye. And they had it won in DC.

And then I've never seen a team reel from a Hail Mary Moore. It's still happening. They're still reeling. They're still going.

And things are actually, there's enough positives to hang on to. But I don't know how they make the playoffs now. It's not happening. Right?

Right? They're four and seven. They have the same record as the Cowboys.

What the hell? Are they worried about the playoffs at this point, or are they just worried about the development? Well, right now they need to worry about getting wins and stacking and then see how it all works out. They win six in a row, they have a shot. The problem is that they've got one of the toughest schedules because they play in one of the toughest divisions and that's all they do is play division games.

And the only division games that they're not playing for the Chicago Bears is at Tennessee and home for Cleveland. Oh, pardon me. I'm reading the wrong line. Let me get the right thing here.

Thank you for popping it up. The only division games they're not playing is at San Francisco and home for Seattle. We said it last week, couple weeks ago too. They may not win another game this year. That's a tough road. Well, if they don't win another game this year, they're going to clean house. That's for sure.

For sure. They should do that anyway. On the coaching staff. I don't know. That's not the way they usually operate.

Well, and what's the definition of insanity? They didn't clean house this past year when they knew they were getting a quarterback and they knew they, you know, they... I think they regret that. They brought in the former Big Ten commissioner who's sitting atop that flow chart and they decided, let's stick with the guy who we know and we're paying and has gotten the defense playing very well and let's get the right offensive coordinator in there and missed on that. They missed on that one. I think Bears fans are more than ready for a change. But right now, when we talk about this on the Overaction Monday pot a little bit too, so we'll include you here, TJ, since you're not sitting on that set.

Mm hmm. Rank the quarterbacks right now. CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Bryce Young. Who's playing the best right now?

Playing the best right now. Right now, last year's and this year's first and second overall drafted quarterback. Bryce Young, four. Daniels, three. Caleb, two. What that would make. Stroud, one. Yeah, I'd inverse it. Are you talking about today as in two days?

Today as we are talking. Okay, not the body of work, but just as... I think Caleb's playing best right now. So then why would you say that, you know, get some real offensive coaches in here? Because he's playing, the new guy is definitely affecting, it's just not showing up in wins because of special teams gaps and then one rookie moment that Caleb had that won in overtime. We took that sack, he had 10 seconds to get rid of that thing. I mean, you can dead cat bounce with coaching.

I think he needs like some real offensive head coaches and system around him to really highlight his strengths. I would go right now, playing right now, I would go one. Bryce Young is playing the best out of all four of them right now. Caleb, two. Caleb won four games. I will go Stroud, three and Jayden Daniels, four.

Right now. One's on a three-game losing streak. Another one started five and one and has only won twice since then, right? Isn't that how the Texans started, five and one? We're sitting here coming into the season saying the Texans are the biggest threat to the Chiefs and right now the Chiefs are more of a threat to the Chiefs than the Texans are. That's true, that's true. I mean, it's still seven and five though.

I know, I get it, but they, I mean, I don't know what's going on. I think Stroud. He does not look the same way as he did last year. Stroud had a running out the back of the end zone moment yesterday. Well, I mean, that game was over by the time he did that. Yeah. I mean, that wasn't a, with all due respect, a full-on, uh. Yeah, but he's trying to make it seem as though he's now off the schnide because CJ did. It's like, no, bro. Oh, is that what he did?

Oh, I would do the same thing too. No, but it's CJ was like two yards back and kind of. The Texans have lost three out of four. Stroud has five picks and he's been sacked 17 times.

I think they can't protect him and that's part of the reason why he has definitely looked like a shadow of himself. Yeah, but they got Nico back. But give it up to Bryce Young, man. Yeah. Give it up. And a fluke car accident or it's, he doesn't play. It's still Andy Dalton's show. If it wasn't for Mo Lewis.

Right. 844-204 Rich, number to dial. Phone calls in the NFC West will be front and center as we send you out the door on this busy Monday. Shopify.com Westwood one. Where did Stefan come from? Did that, uh, that came from, uh, two things.

John Mulaney wrote that with me and John, I, it deserves a lot of credit for Stefan because he wrote so much of the rhythm of that and the specifics of it. And clearly I found it funny because I laughed every time we did it. I don't think we ever did it where I didn't laugh. John will put in different things or he'll tell me as I'm walking out. I'll tell you, I know you're not supposed to laugh at this stuff and break in the middle of a scene, but that's, I broke every time.

Yeah. The first time was we had a club promoter named Amnesia Bernstein and it didn't really get anything and then he goes, Amnesia Bernstein didn't really get anything. And then he goes, I'll change it to something else. And then as I was walking out, he goes, I changed Amnesia Bernstein to Gay Leota. And I started laughing.

So the minute I roll out, I'm like, the other one was, uh, sorry. The other one that made me laugh was he said, he'll change the little things. We had a, we had, we had written, uh, uh, uh, also at the club was, um, a two year old ultimate fighter, Julie Lips Jackson. He's got fists like empanadas and he's addicted to ecstasy.

That's what we wrote. And then he wrote, so it was like two year old, uh, two year old, two year old ultimate fighter, Julie Lips Jackson. Uh, he's got fence like, he's got fists like empanadas and they turned the cue card and it said, he's my best friend. And then he turns the card and he's my best friend, but I lost it. I was like, John behind the cue cards, past him. I could see him in Sandburg up against the wall, just watching me laughing.

I'm like, dude, the great bill Hader been here a couple of times on this program. Check it out on our YouTube channel. The sleep number store near you is waiting for you. Recommend a bed at every price point that is just right for you.

So if you're in the market for a new bed, stop by at a sleep number store and tell them the rich eyes and show sent you. We would appreciate that. NFC West up for grabs, NFC West up for grabs. Who wants it? Who's going to take it?

TJ, you first who's taken it. NFC West. Seattle just took care of business against Arizona at home. They're the only six and five teams, the Rams and the Niners lose their five and six, just a game behind.

I'm going to go, you know what? I'm stuck with the Rams. You're sticking with the Rams.

Who's house? It's the Rams. Stick with the Rams. It's the Rams, stick with the Rams, Chris. No, it's Seattle. We want the Rams. We want the Rams.

I love a home playoff game. It's the Seahawks. The Seahawks really looked good on defense yesterday. They were all over.

Yes. And the offense was an absolute mess, but they still won the game. Kyler Murray showed you why you gotta pause a little bit.

Why? Because with him. Because you can be physical with him and have him make a mistake. Yeah, and a really dumb mental throw on the pick six. Yeah, that changed the tenor of the game.

Man. On fourth down. Why was James Conner not involved more yesterday? It felt like they could have ran the ball. Well, McBride had a heck of a day.

He did. I played against my fantasy, but I like the cut of Seattle's jib. I just don't know how consistent they are. True.

How about this for Seattle's season? But really good run game. Jason has taken over as the alpha dog that Jackson Smith and Jigba has become the number one there. And I know DK Metcalf might bristle at that notion, but he's had a couple monster games. He sure has.

So yeah, he sure has. And Gino ran into the end zone on San Francisco and Kenneth Walker. So he had a brutal interception in the end zone. Yeah, it looks like he just didn't see him.

Yeah, he rebounded to win that game, made the throws, and they win it. And they're in first. And they're at the Jets next.

And you know, Gino. The Cardinals are in Minnesota next. Rams are in New Orleans. I mean, everybody's on the road.

And the team that you're looking at is having the least chances that are the defending NFC champs who went into Green Bay yesterday and lost. Brandon Allen looked like he was the backup. Who was the one on the Packers who said, I don't want to hear it.

We won three games with our backup. Come in and get it done. They don't want to hear it. Well, you know, that's...

I read that quote somewhere. Yeah, I'm trying to find out what it was. The Packers got it done.

The Niners got boat raced. And yeah, Kishon Nixon. Yeah. You can't blame them for saying that. Hey, we won three games with Malik Willis. So you come in, Brandon Allen, and you beat us in our house.

Try it. They didn't. And they are 1 million percent in trouble right now at five and six. But they're only one game out of first. They have the schedule. They have the time. They have the deep roster. If anybody's going to come back healthy, can't overlook them.

I would take if I had to right now. I don't know, man. The Rams just couldn't stop a team like the Eagles last night. And the offensive line issues. They got whipped. How many offenses are like the Eagles, though?

There's not a bunch of them. See, the Rams are at New Orleans. They really got after Stafford last night. Buffalo's coming in. They're at San Francisco on a Thursday night at the Jets. There's so many winnable games to the Rams. This feels like this division's coming down to a week 18. Well, yeah, but Seattle at the Rams.

That could be it. Seattle with the Rams because the Rams have Arizona before that. I mean, again, you want to talk offenses that can go on tilt? The Rams haven't. They just got to protect Stafford. My God, they couldn't do that. If Stafford's got that clean pocket. Oh, man, there's wide open guys everywhere. Still one of the prettiest throwers of the football. Right.

And the offense is like, you know, we all know how to make the offense Williams to stop fumbling. That'd be nice. Damn, man. It's anybody's division. Let's go to Shane in Boulder. Colorado's been hanging on for some time. What's up, Shane? Hi, how's it going, Rich?

What's going on in your mind, sir? Yeah, I just got to talk about the refereeing in college football and NFL this year. I don't know if you watched that CU Kansas game. Oh, how is that not a penalty?

How is that kid not adjusted? Thank you. Holy cow.

Thank you so much. I saw that agree with me. I saw that live while working, and I was like, oh, my God. And they reviewed it. I don't even hear it. What's even worse?

College refs do not protect quarterbacks well enough. Not at all. Shit.

She dork. His career could have gone out the window with that hit. Exactly. That was awful. That was terrible.

Yeah. The crowd of the helmet. He was looking down. Oh, my God. The player was looking down at the ground. He wasn't even looking up at all. I'm with you, Shane. Terrible no call. There were no calls in that game. The whole game going Colorado's way. I feel bad for that team. Shane, I appreciate the time. Appreciate it.

That's Shane in Boulder, Colorado. That was awful. Yeah, that was the hit was bad. The landing was bad. You know, if his foot wasn't planted, if his foot was planted, if his foot was planted, I was over.

It would have been broken in 15 different places. His career might. Oh, my God. I know. By the way, did I put the Ziggy on Prime by saying all they got to do is win the rest of their games? They're going. They could still go. Everybody keeps losing in that. Everybody keeps losing in that. Kansas has played team sneaky tough this year.

That was a tough spot. Jimmy in San Antonio. Let's give him the last word. What's up, Jimmy?

Hey, Rich, tell my man Coop. What's up? Tight haircut. I dig it. He's got it. He likes his tight haircut right now.

Oh, and Shane in Colorado. Smoothie Bowl. That's my recommendation. Sorry about that. Okay, obviously you and Kelsey are not into ranking the children, but my nieces and nephews get a quarterly ranking year round to let them know who's doing good and who's like a review quarterly review. Yes, I love it. I like it.

Jimmy, a group text, and I even tell them why someone jumped them in the right transparency. Okay, so I'm glad Shane mentioned football college because both NFL and college football was absolutely drunk this weekend. Take the keys.

Call them an Uber. This was a stupid, crazy weekend. I mean, ASU, Kansas, Cowboys, Ole Miss, Kansas City.

Just nuts. I know. And Georgia is now in the SEC Championship game. And Texas beat the Longhorns. I was about to say Texas versus Texas A&M.

First time in 11 years is going to mean a ton. I know. It's the hottest ticket in the Brazos Valley since I know that you know people from the Brazos Valley.

I do indeed know the Brazos Valley. That's for sure. Thank you, Jimmy.

Greatly appreciate it. I also spent a good quarter and a half rooting for Indiana football. Of course. Great quarter and a half.

Of course you did. How about Notre Dame? And then Notre Dame took care of Army. Yeah.

It was that. What are some other results that occurred in college football of note? Well, Florida kind of ended Ole Miss this season.

That's right. Hey, man, who knows what those final 12 teams are going to be. But yeah, the end of the BYU game. That's all I'm going to say.

You know, I'm stealing myself for this current Saturday. You know, but all I got to say is just Ohio State, just go ahead and win it. Win another one for the Big Ten.

That's all I'm saying. We did our part last year. Or this year. Pardon me.

Happened this year. You know what I'm saying? I feel you. That'll wrap it up for this show. Thanks to Jason Kelsey.

Greatly appreciate hanging with him. And Coop and Jack being here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Set up the rest of the week in a moment. Hey, it's Rich Eisen here. Join me and my compadre, Chris Brockman, every Monday on the overreaction Monday podcast. Rich, Jameis has taken the brows to the playoffs. Dude, why can't they win seven, eight games to finish the year? Why not? I'm not saying there's no why not, but this is a definitive statement that's clearly an overreaction and it's perfect fodder for a show like this one.

I appreciate you coming out of the gate hot. Come react or overreact with us. Overreaction Monday, wherever you listen. It's game over. Over, man.
