Yeah. Afternoon, everybody. Welcome into the Winkler Verse. I'm Bart Winkler, Carlos Ortiz, alongside my former. Esteemed colleague.

Now, my esteemed friend. I sort of like not having a real job during NFL season. I don't.

Okay.'Cause I know I'd be working hard and getting paid.

Well what I did. I was making more money uh during the summer. No, no, no, I know, I know. I mean, I wish I had my. Cushy national sports radio job, of course.

Would be sweet. But I don't have to like dissect every game. Oh, yeah, that feels good. Like, because I do I really want to break down, you know, the Seahawks schlacking the Cardinals. I still want to talk about these games.

I still want to talk about the bigger picture. That's why we continue the national perspective here on Into the Winklerverse with Carlos Ortiz. But. I like that like I can just I can really put all my eggs in the Packers basket. And it frees me up to, I'm more into the Brewers this season because of the show.

Um I just got a message here. Bart, I hate that you blocked me on X because I want to tell you you were right about LaFleur. Give me a second chance. Can you do me a favor? Tech Beast Can you uh Like Send a message or Tweet at the Winklerverse.

And then I'll know your Twitter handle, and then I'll find it, and then I'll unblock you. Because I am right about Matt LaFleur. And the shitty thing about Matt LaFleur. And I'll get into this more in a second is It's very loud now what people are saying. Yes.

People are starting to realize it. But you're Where was this in January when we could have moved on?

Now we extended this guy and it's week two. And they're not going to fire him.

So more on that in a minute. A reminder, it is September. And we are teaming up with the Wisconsin. bike fed and here to tell you more about that. Is Bart Winkler.

Do you know crashes involving drivers and vulnerable users of the road are the highest during the early evening hours in the fall? The Wisconsin Bike Fed and I are reminding people driving and people biking: use your lights as daylight hours wane. When operating near other users, be aware. Slow down and look around. We can all do our part to reduce low-light crashes.

Being visible and predictable on the road can help everyone get to where they're going safely. Check out more WisconsinBikeFed.org. All right. Was that a fucking stormtrooper riding a bike? Yeah, it's Wisconsin, dude.

Crazy shit happens here all the time. Jeez. All right. Yeah, I don't know. I painted all of Wisconsin in one long Toma brush.

Perhaps I shouldn't have. I was going to text you the other day because I was going through my old business cards. Maybe, maybe that can be a show. I'll just go through all my old business cards and because I keep my old business cards for my career.

Well, Salon BT used to spend a segment opening a baseball card, so you're right on the same track. I've done that too. But with my business cards, I want to talk through my career a little bit. I think that's only interesting to me. But And I got to be careful.

I got to be a little careful because we are getting new. subscribers, but I do think a lot of the new subscribers are just people that were like Oh, I remember this guy.

So now he's on the internet. Oh, okay. I listened to him with Chuck six years ago. Oh, fuck, I'll subscribe.

So, thank you if you are doing that on either the YouTube. Or any of this. This, if you're new or not new, you need to need a reminder. I'm Bart. This is Carlos.

We are brought to you every Monday by Carl's Place. Check that out in the comments for more with golf simulators and other golf apparel needs. We're also brought to you by the Wisconsin Bike Fed, Dan Shaney Insurance. Happy place to have promo code BART 25% off. And we are counting down or counting up rather to episode number 777.

Potawatomy Sportsbook is helping us spin our way to that number. This is episode number 747.

So, I should have found a way to broadcast this episode from a plane. That would have been cool. But we're 30 episodes away. 30 episodes away. From our 777th episode.

Um we'll have more details on what we're going to do with Potawatomi. There. But on this episode, Ah We're going to talk nationally. Your team plays tonight. That's good.

Yeah. The way we've been doing this is. It's football season. How's your team doing? Your team plays tonight.

Big game against the Rams. I don't think they're going to win. But I also Oh, you shut your dirty whoremouth. It's in LA, yes? Yes, it's in Soviet.

I certainly think that, I mean, I don't. What is the spread? Like probably five and a half Rams? I would think so. Um, although that number might be d taking a hit.

I mean, uh, we're still waiting on the status of Puka Nakua. Uh, Aaron Donald said he's gonna play, but you know, Aaron Donnell hasn't played an NFL game in two years.

So, what exactly is Aaron Donald right now? And they've gotten a little dinged up in the defense as well.

So I expect that number to go down. If you're looking for five and a half, I would jump on an ASAP. I think I check in the pot of lines.

So, this started about an eight and a half point favorite. It's down to six and a half. Yeah. Still taking the Giants. Yeah, I don't I see I'm a Rams That's the wrong thing.

I realize, so I've talked about this before. Because I saw Brock Purdy in a commercial and I was reminded about how much. Was it the one with Eli and Toyota, which was a very random pairing? Yeah. Yeah.

My whole Brock Purdy thing is I don't hate Brock Purdy. I just thought he was being crowned way too early as the next Joe Montana. Brock Purdy is a good quarterback. Like, Brock Purdy is a good. NFL quarterback.

I would be very satisfied If I was a fan and Brock Purdy was my quarterback. I would be satisfied with that. Absolutely. And I'd probably argue on his behalf the same way I do with Jordan Love, but he's not. You know, Joe Montana.

No. That being said, That's where I argue a lot. A lot of times I'm in the middle of an issue.

Some people are either very dismissive.

Sorry, I got quiet upstairs. Are you okay, bud? I don't know where my my dog was over here, you know, sl like low barking at something. He gets an hour of. Video games.

It should be YouTube, but I'll talk about that in a second. And so I just don't like when the reaction is stronger than what's actually happening. Case in point. Caleb Williams. Oh man.

This son of a bitch. I thought he was dead the way he was reacting.

So I remember it was my brother's soccer team. My youngest brother. And I was at one of his games in high school. And there was a play at midfield, and this kid went down, and the scream he made. Was like, oh my God.

His career is certainly over. Like, it wasn't even game three weeks. It was his career's over. We're worried about his life now. Will he walk again?

Will he be able to function in normal humanity? I can't even tell you the scream. The scream was. I I I honestly I would have to like. I don't even want to say what I would have to do.

to a child to enact this sort of scream. Like murder.

Okay? This scream was so bad. It's still in, I can still hear it. And we were all like I'm not God-fearing as much as I should be maybe, but I was... Man, I was deep in prayer.

I was like. I can't believe what I just witnessed. 20 minutes later, he's back in the game. What the fuck? I've been guilty of doing something similar to that.

So, Caleb Williams is down. It looks very bad. It looks like season and bad. It looked like I thought it was Achilles. I thought his season was over.

Right. And he's pumping, you know, the crowd. He's doing like the Kobe tribute. Yeah. He might play on Monday.

It's week to week, but come on.

So, first of all, let's get this. Not out of the way, but into the way. Because we want to remind people that we do not root for injuries. No. And what I mean by that is We root for injuries when they benefit us.

Fantasy, other teams. But we don't say that we do. Yeah, I was facing Caleb Williams yesterday and Alec Pierce in the in the Sunday Night Game, so I wasn't crying that those injuries happened, but I certainly wasn't rooting for it. We don't actively root for a guy to get hurt. No.

But when a guy gets hurt. We We keep our feelings to ourselves and those feelings are glee and joy. Mm-hmm. And with Caleb. I believe, I do believe this.

I believe that if you are not As injured. As your initial production. That's what he put on a production. It was a show. Yeah.

I believe you should have to miss games. I believe you should be penalized. I think there should be a suspension in order. I think whatever Josh Jacobs gets from the league, I think Caleb Williams should get that as well. Yeah.

Six games? All right, you're out, six games. I was going to equate it more to the taunting penalty the Packers had. No, I'm talking about games missed. If you're a league where a guy can't go, like, he can't make a big hit and look at you and be like, How'd you like that bitch?

If you can't do that. You shouldn't be able to have the whole stadium stop. I mean, they were so sad in Chicago yesterday. They walked out of the tunnel. They didn't even chant Green Bay sucks.

They even do it once. Got the players on their knees. And now And now Caleb Williams is going to come back. And here's the here's the thing. It's just It's just our whole production.

It's all production. Because Bears fans should just be like. Oh, we lost our quarterback for the rest of the game. He'll be fine next week. Good.

But now they have this. This new feeling of battle. Like, we almost, we almost, it was a, it's just, it's just, it's just so fucking stupid, everything that goes on down there. You don't like the perseverance that Bears fans have? the determination and the willpower to power through.

Bears fans are just trying. It's just like everything is phony. Manufactured. Yeah. Yeah.

Everything is manufactured, and everything they believe is happening to them for the first time. And I love this from Bears fans, too. What happened to your 59 points? What happened to your 59 points? Still impressive.

They're averaging 31 points a game. Pretty impressive. What happened to your 59 points? Oh, it was messy and sloppy and whatever. And there were injuries.

And then they'll look at the Packers and be like, you barely beat the Jets. Which is true. You lost to the Vikings. Which is worse than barely beating the Jets. But we did barely beat the Jets.

Oh, did you ever? The Packers, finally there is a stat. On the Packers. And we're at the good end of it. The Green Bay Packers.

First of all, they have not started 0-2 in the last 20 years. They are the first team to win a game in the Super Bowl era. By having less than 200 yards, more than 10 penalties, and no turnovers. The Packers had less than 10, 100. 200 yards of offense, less than that.

They had more than 10 penalties. They had no turnovers forced. Previously, teams with that statistical Schmorgis board are 0-in-38.

So the Packers finally won a game that like Because we've been losing those kind of games.

So they finally won. I said yesterday, I said it was in spite of Matt LaFleur. And I know it was rainy and wet and everything. Here were the 12. First plays of each tribe compiled by Andy Ehrman.

Broken play. Run, run, run, run, run, run, run. Incomplete pass, run, incomplete pass, run. Yeah. They are so committed, even with the game.

Being able to be one, Skymore, big return, a lot of momentum, run up the gut. They get the ball back, possibly could win it before overtime. Another run. Matt LaFleur still. All he needs is a first down and a field goal to win this game.

Still. Committed to the fucking run.

So There's a lot more than Matt LaFleur-Packer fans right now. I can't say everything wrong with this team in one sentence. This offensive line is shit. Jordan Love, I wanted, I need, I think, I know. He can play better than he did yesterday, even in those elements.

Even with the offensive line. You know, it's third down, you're spiking balls into the ground, that's on you. The defense was good. I think a lot of their If you're at the Packers, you're happy you won, obviously, and I'm not ever going to take away a win from anybody. But they would have only won that game against that team because Aaron Glenn out Matt LaFleur and Matt LaFleur.

Yeah. They should have at least had the ball back at the end. They weren't calling timeouts. Mm-hmm. Um So so I don't know.

So the Packers are one and one. Yeah, and Jets fans are melting down. They have the Falcons this week. Oh, I'm so glad the Jets lost.

Well, other than the obvious, why is that? I just I just don't like I don't like New York media at all, besides you. And um Yeah. And sometimes, Sean. Certainly not, Craig.

I don't consider him New York media. Craig is fucking Craig. I like C-Mac. He's good dude. Basically, I just don't like Craig and Boomer.

Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, he agrees. Yes. All right. What's your dog's name?

Petey? Petey. Yeah. If you want to stop barking, that'd be great. That's one of two PD dogs I know.

Opposite of what I want. PD, shut the fuck up. He can't hear you because I have headphones. Oh, I need headphones. Um Your thoughts on just week two?

It was a very interesting week. Week one was a lot of scoring. Week two, fantasy team brutal. I lost a lot of games because I overmanaged. Fine.

I think I cut Trey Tucker. Oops. I was facing that trade truck out on his bench, so that was good for me. I picked up the Panthers D for next week and then. They were great.

But week two, the thing I liked about week two was I had the Niners as my survivor, and a lot of people had the Chargers, a lot of people had the Buccaneers. A lot of what was the other game? Oh, Ravens? Yes, losing to the Saints. That's right.

So when you walk away from a win and you're one and one and you barely. Beat the Jets. It's like, okay. We could have lost to the Jets. A year ago, the Packers, this was when they lost to the Browns.

So I don't know what they are, where they are, how they're going to be. But they did not lose, and a lot of other teams lost games that they were not expected to lose.

So at this point of the season. You know, whatever. I can't think big picture because I know we're going to fart in the playoffs, and LaFleur is going to be a piece of shit. I'm going to go up there in January 6th, Lambo. But For now, I mean, they're one-on-one, so whatever.

So, it was an interesting week. A lot of teams like. Showed something. I thought the Colts. They had a chance last night.

They hung in. They were so back. Yeah, the Chiefs are back to Chiefs. Back to winning games the same way they win games. Oh, can we get a poor little henny for Carly Ursa Gordon?

I mean, she looks great on the sidelines. I don't know what she's doing. Not really in my cup of tea, but I would drink it. She always seems like in a state of surprise, too. Like, her eyebrows are like, hmm.

Always sort of shocked that she's down there. I don't think it's a big thing because it's not like she's doing it for the first time. Like she's done it for years.

So I think it's getting more attention now because her dad's dead. But I think this is, it's not like Jerry Jones. He's on the sideline. Like, look at me. I think she's there for genuine reasons.

Yeah, I don't like that she's down there. Again, it's a wear on the scale. If she wants to be down there, that's fine. I don't like how like attention drawing she is to herself. With the sequence outfits and the horseshoe on her ass and stuff like that.

Well, I guess that, but she's a woman where men are supposed to be. How dare she leave the kitchen? No, if I'm like stiking or if I'm over on that sideline, I'm like. I'm like, I gotta go for it here because the fucking owners standing right there. Like, I gotta.

You got a coach like you're going to save yourself. I don't think I would have blamed them. I mean, it's like talking specifically about that game. I don't think I would have blamed them if they would have gone for it. Instead of going for a field goal and tying the game, because of the exact thing with what we saw.

Like the, you know, the Chiefs in overtime almost equals win. Can you go on fourth and nine? I think if they didn't get pushed back, he would have gone for it.

Now, here's the thing about the overtime. We're still learning how these overtimes are going to like what the strategy is. It still blows that it's only 10 minutes. I don't understand that. Just play the 15.

Because now with 10 minutes, you've shortened it. You're supposed to. In this setting. You're supposed to. Get the ball second.

Right, you wanna defer because you wanna be able to match whatever the uh the whoever's going first is doing. Then you know what you need. Yes. But with just 10 minutes. The Chiefs, if they get a field goal.

And then you only get a field goal, or if they score a touchdown and you match with a touchdown, and let's say don't go for two. You leave time on the clock and then there's only enough time for One more possession, and that's going to go to the team that did get the ball first.

So it's like you almost want to take it first. Because the Jets took the ball first, and that fucked them over. Mm-hmm. But the The Colts took the ball second and that fucked them over. Right.

Because what happened is they wound up matching. but with still three and a half minutes left.

So, more than enough time in order for the Chiefs to go down there and set up for a field goal.

So, it's like you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't. I think this is a quality loss for the Colts, believe it or not. Right. I still, I don't. I don't think it's 100% that you have to take the ball first.

Is what I'm saying. Yeah, I just don't, I don't know if we have enough of a sample size in order to be like, you have to, you know, defer or take it first. It's just. Because again, we've had two different scenarios yesterday. But maybe the scenario is you always take the ball second.

Unless it's against Kansas City. Then you take the ball first. Right. If it's Patrick Mahomes, just take the ball. No, not even.

No matter what. Kansas City's going to win. Just fucking go home. Just don't even play overtime. I say, like, we'd rather have the tie now.

So we're going to leave. I don't want to deal with this.

Well, I mean, I thought it was a good game, but you asked me earlier what, you know, some of the takeaways for week two, why my dog fucking gets on my nerves again. I think the way people are waking up about Matt LaFleur is I've been beating this drum for quite some time about Justin Herbert. I think people are finally starting to wake up and realize Justin Herbert might not be that guy. That's where the charges are going 0-2. They lost to the Cardinals.

And And the Raiders. And then the Raiders. This is a very bad start for them. It is an excruciatingly bad start. And what I don't want to happen is for people to start pointing a finger at Harbaugh.

Jim Harbaugh be like, oh, you know, he was, you know, he's kind of overrated the whole time, you know, with his drinking milk, and both of his parents are named with a J. And no, no, no, fuck all that. Like, Jim Harbaugh, I'm not saying he's a great coach, but I think he's a pretty good coach. There's been one constant and San Diego slash Los Angeles the last couple of years, and it's Justin Herbert. The guy cannot win a big game.

And apparently, he was the one. He was the one blowing that. I thought Brandon Staley was a dog shit coach and he should have got fired off the tar on the tarmac after losing to Jacksonville in the playoffs a couple of years ago. Like, I firmly believe that Brandon Staley should have got fired later or earlier than he actually did. But once that change happened.

It nothing changes with this franchise and this team. Justin Herbert, if anything, he's gotten worse since he's got engaged to Madison Beer. Losing to the Cardinals and the Raiders to open up your season.

Now people s Eyes wide open. I've been saying it for years. Justin Herbert is overrated as fuck, but it seems like now. People are starting to finally turn the corner like they are with LaFleur.

So I just wanted to be acknowledged. I want my little Justin Herbert victory lap. I'm not saying his career is over. But we got to stop looking at him like he's a top five quarterback because he's not. He might not be a top 10 quarterback.

Yeah, I'll give you your flowers. I think that Herbert's been a lot of what he could be.

Some guys get that, some guys don't. Right, like Jalen Hurts gets shit on all the time. And he's won two Super Bowls. He's won one of them. Herbert hasn't done shit.

Has it gone to an ABC championship game? But Herbert supposedly is a Tier one quarterback with the ilk of Joe Burrow and all these guys. Joe Burrow, the downfall for him is he just gets hurt. But at least we know he's fucking good. Spark Guy chimes in on the Bears.

He said, Caleb Favre is okay. Favre was the master of the theatrics, and now the Rose have reversed. I just love it all. Ugh. You cannot go down like that.

And just be week to week. You gotta sit out the season. That's embarrassing. If I did that and I overreacted to injury, I would just lie. I'd be like, So, I've done that.

I've done that. I've literally was moving a TV out of my old apartment. And I have a weak ass ankle.

So, like, I rolled my ankle and dropped the TV because I thought immediately that the ankle I'm listening. Keep talking.

So I fucking let out a blood-curling cry. And I'm not proud of this because I'm right in front of my then-girlfriend, now wife. And I rolled the ankle and I dropped the T V and I cracked the corner of it. And I'm like, fuck, ah, it's done. It's done.

That's my immediate reaction. Just like Caleb Williams as he s goes down and grabs his hamstring. My ankle swolls up a little bit. I'm walking like half an hour after that. I put a little ice on it, I was good to go.

I thought it was broken. I'm embarrassed as fuck. I couldn't even ask my then girlfriend for sex at that time because I'm like, you know what? You need to find a real man today because I simply just don't have it. These are all the business cards I have.

It's a lot of business cards on the Dan Shaney YouTube stream. You can see it's just a box of business cards. I did go bring them because there is one specifically. That I need to show you and ask if you know this person. First of all, here's Dan Shaney's business card.

Dan Shaney.com. Look at that. There's all his phone numbers. I could use some insurance'cause I'm about to get dropped for mine. Won't you go give this handsome Guy a call, look at him.

Look at Dan. You can trust that you could trust the guy with a hair like that. I know. The LaFleur talk is stupid. They aren't going to fire him in the season.

He's still in the middle of the moment. But it's not stupid. It's not stupid. Yeah, I agree. They're also not going to fire him in the middle of the season, but it's okay to have the conversation.

The dude is ass.

Some people, when they get hurt, just put a big ass bandaid and gauze on their ear for a week. That's from Robert. And some people just put Robotussin on it. Mm-hmm. Um yeah.

If you don't get the re if you don't get the reference, I can't help you. I do also want to talk about. Do we have any more football things you want to say you feel good about tonight or no? Legitly, and not being a homer at all, because I don't think I'm a Giants homer. You know, I'm not an apologist either.

I've been killing this team for the last 15 years when they deserved it. Even when they went into the playoffs and they beat Minnesota, I knew they were going to get waxed by the Eagles.

So I'm not a homer at all. I feel very good that the Giants go 2-0. I just feel like the Rams are so overrated. And tonight, you know, tonight, if they come out and they dominate. You know, that'll be one thing, but if they don't, then I'm going to keep continuing to just.

Shit on the Rams. Yeah. There's definitely a realm in which the Rams win. But I don't think it, I think the Giants don't look competitive. Like if they just get absolutely waxed, you know, pillar to post as kind of as beaten type stuff, then yeah, I'll be disappointed and maybe like, okay, the Giants just, you know, they're not who we thought they were in terms of beating Dallas yesterday.

Maybe Dallas is actually that bad. Um Because they got to beat up on an injured Washington and Jaden Daniels, I can't believe we haven't talked about him yet. Because that. It's like the the anti-Caleb. Completely the different reaction of Kaylee Williams.

Kaylee Williams is now weak to week. Looked like he got assassinated on the field.

Meanwhile, Jaden Daniels. Made Tom Brady say shit on national airwaves. Because of how bad that elbow looked. And Jaden Daniels is like, yo, put me in the game. I feel bad for Jaden and Commanders fans to an extent because I am a Giants fan.

Um This kid might be RG3 Part 2. He's just so talented, but he is fragile. Like you have to put him in bubble wrap and that's just not conducive to winning. And I don't understand this thing where these quarterbacks come and they have one good year. And people are so quick to like CJ Stroud got this.

I think Bryce Young is better. Bryce Young's looking good. Bryce Young, Darren Waller. Are the new Brady and Gronk, guys? Listen, if you're chasing fantasy points and you need a tight end, I guarantee you, Waller will not score again until week 10.

Good girl, bottom. Don't chase it. Last week again. Like an idiot. Um how could you possibly trust Aaron Laura?

So, how long is Daniels out? He's my quarterback. Daniels, well, if it's the same injury as last year, honestly. You probably don't see him for a minimum half of the season. I don't trust my backup quarterback for fantasy purposes.

Who do you have? Jordan Jordan Law.

Okay. I have Jared Goff who just hung almost 40 points.

So I was like, all right, I'll fucking sit with you, but I got Jackson Dark one in tonight. Oh, no, I like Jordan Love. I'm going to be fine at quarterback. I'll start Jordan Love. Uh no problem.

With that. Anything else that we're missing? Week number two? Atlanta Falcons. I mean, I know they've just fired their GM and co and all that stuff, but.

Don't fire everybody again. Because Cooper Rush just cannot play in this league. And I don't know who the fuck Jack Scratch was, or who even is that guy? Jack Strand? Strand, I said scratch, but you might as well scratch him forever, too, because.

The Falcons are absolutely. I don't know how we didn't go into the season knowing the Falcons were going to be one of the most future franchises in the league. They are fucking bad. You're waiting for either Tour or Penix. That's how bad your team is.

I watch a lot of college football and play college, you know. Fantasy and all this shit. But I'm sorry, I don't know the quarterback from Minnesota Moorhead. I can't say that I know who that is. Speaking of college, shout out Lane Kippen.

He deserved every bit of that loss on Saturday. That really made me very happy. Like, yeah, I love the pictures coming out of it. Oh, I saw what you tweeted out. It was such a great picture.

Like, you want that revenge moment of being the old missed players pointing at your old coach, saying, fuck you, Kiffin.

Well, at my old boss. Oh, I would do that too. I mean And pick w pick any one of my bosses. I have no job right now. They call pick'em all.

Put them all in a room. And I'll be treated that shameless, just uh j just fucking pointing right at him, like the monkey from Family Guy. We're brought to you by Happy Place M. Promo code is BART. 25% off each and every order.

The seltzers go down very smooth. Heavyplacehemp.com. I found the business card I was looking for for you. A couple other I want to show you. This is not a business card, but this is a.

Admit one. I don't know if this place is still open. It's to a place called Silk and Lace. It is the first strip club I ever went to in Indianapolis for a bachelor party. Wait, first strip club, period, or just the first one in Indy?

That I've ever been to.

Okay. All right. Yeah, we got a bunch of people. If he's not okay, send him to uh Silk and Lace. All right.

Um I had a I had a I had a Bill in my hand?

So like money in my mouth? Yeah. I had a friend here, friend here. She dances on him. She looks at me.

Goes. Mm-mm. Goes to the next person. There is a place literally two blocks away from my house, walking distance, called Vixens. They'll treat you right.

I have a business card for former state senator Randy Hopper. Ah yes, the hop. Uh Randy Hopper, people think that I'm such a super lib. Randy Hopper's a Republican. I voted for Randy Hopper.

Oh. Why? Because he was also my boss at my radio station. And the more he had to do politics, the less he was at work.

So I didn't want my boss at work, so I voted for him. He lost that race. Jesus. This is a shout out to everyone who's ever worked in television in the Midwest. This is for WIFR Dave Smith out of Rockford.

Everyone's interviewed with this guy. Dave Smith, he gave me a job and I turned it down. And then Jerry Brunelli. Senior designer at Giddings and Lewis. This was my late grandpa.

Oh, hey, worked right there on Military Road. He had The life. 40 years, one company, get the retirement gift, company picnic every year. We would always go. It was the biggest employer in town.

Then they got bought out by some German company. Everything went to shit. Here's what I was looking for. Do you know a major Carrie Norman? Carrie Norman?

Yeah. I do not. Fort McCoy.

Now That's the commander of uh the uh The active guard there? I g I guess so, the HHC. Yeah, I don't know who that is. I think this was the PR person, actually. Mm yeah, I couldn't tell you.

Because Carlos, how long were you at Fort McCoy? Oh, I went I went three years in a row at one point. I went, so I've gone a grand total of seven, eight weeks. But it was two weeks one year, two weeks one year, three weeks another year. I've been to Fort McCoy probably 15 times.

For different news stories. There's fucking nothing there. Oh, the barracks that he had to stay in? You know what's funny? Those barracks are actually some of the better barracks that I've stayed at.

I've actually always enjoyed my time at Fort McCoy. I'm not going to front. I fuck a hell of a lot. I like it a lot better than Fort Dix in Jersey. Fuck that place.

For McCoy, I love how like. Hard it is to get in. We'd pull up in our news car. We'd need like 15 different people to come together. I had a chick just drive on and pick me up from my barracks.

Was she from Silken Lace? No, she was from the good town of Toma. Ooh, toma, toma. All right. Cubs, how are you feeling about them?

I mean, I'm thankful that Arizona forgot how to play baseball. Alex Bregman yesterday took that fucking looked bad. That's got to be like an orbital bone. That's the Chicago injury that should get the fucking cart off reaction. Yeah, he took a foul ball in the on-deck circle.

Yes, yeah, and he's rocked like his eyes shut.

So something's definitely broken. Listen, they're going to make the playoffs, but.

Okay. What's the ceiling? I think it'll be exactly like last year. Maybe they get past the wild card round, but they lose in the division round. And then if you if especially if you run into the brewers again, you are hit, you get you might get swept.

They don't have the pitching. They don't have the pitching. I don't want to go through it again. I think I I think w I think both sides, both you and I would be numb to it. Because I think Brewers fans would just be like, all right, you know, it's just a weaker opponent, and the Cubs will be like, well, we can't get past the Brewers.

We've seen this movie before. Hmm. Yeah. If they do beat us. Which will happen.

And this is not a reverse Jinx. I firmly know it in my heart of hearts. The Cubs are going to lose. The absolute ceiling is the divisional round. That's the absolute ceiling.

If they went and beat us. We already won once, so that's good.

So then it would be even. But that's the Cubs World Series. They'll treat it like the fucking parade. They'll treat it more like 2016. But the Brewers have won 98 games, a franchise record.

They're likely going to win 100. Probably. This is the greatest regular season that they will ever have. And I just don't know. Don't mean shit until you get to the World Series.

It doesn't mean shit. It means nothing. It doesn't mean anything. Because this world, this, yes, it's 98 wins. And yes, it's maybe 100.

And yes, this regular season is going to be, you know, the best of all time. And yes, it has been fun. And yes, I have hashtag enjoyed the ride. But they got to at least get to the World Series, or really this is gonna blend in. We're going to blend it in like these everything post Rogers.

Super Bowl till the end. It all blends together except for the horrific. 2014 game. But 2015 through 2021 all blend together. It's like, oh, what we, oh, we lost to San Francisco that year again.

We lost in the playoffs in the divisional role. We had a good regular season.

So I am, I mean, I'm excited for the playoffs. I'll be more excited if they don't have to face the Cubs.

So what's the alternative, the Dodgers? You gotta get through them. I don't know. And that's why I think a lot of people are... Padres do decent against us.

Phillies are loaded. But the Phillies have been playing like shit the last two weeks. And they are getting decimated by injuries to their starting rotation at the worst time.

Now the thing with the Cubs is they have um The Red Sox this weekend. Mm-hmm. And there's a Nor'easter coming. Yeah, that's right. That's stored my fuck things up.

Is that gonna hit you guys too? Yeah, yeah, probably. Because they actually, with the forecast. Is Nor'easter just the same kind of shit we get here? They just.

Say nor'easter. They just say nor'easter, but you know, it's a heavy storm. You know, it's because we get like nine of those a summer. Yeah. Yeah, we actually, this summer has been pretty solid.

We went relatively rain-free throughout the summer, but no, we're about to start getting hit. I'm surprised it's not raining right now because that was the forecast. It was supposed to be bad all week, but now it's. Not until Thursday, it should start coming in. I like it in the I like in the winter.

where there's like 16 inches of snow. And school's not canceled, and we still have to dig out. And it's just like, oh, fuck, here it is for the winter. And then the next weekend, we watch as that storm makes its way to New York, and everybody freaks the fuck out. And then it's like, oh my God, it's gonna be the biggest blizzard ever.

And then they're doing live shots in three inches of snow at Times Square. Yeah. like Bro. Yeah, no, I can tell you right now, being a Midwest boy, New Yorkers completely exaggerate the level of snow and everything that they got over here. I've been here in this.

If Hurricane Katrina would have happened in New York, Bush would have been fucking impeached. Yeah. Seriously, the Red Cross would have been everywhere. I've been here, what, 20 years or so? I'm not going to go through the math right now.

I there's been two blizzards. Two real blizzards and I'm like, holy shit, this isn't the pretty thicks now. Everything else has been an exaggeration. New Yorkers are fucking soft when it comes to snow.

So, the weather may fuck shit up. And what the problem is. Hold on. Mitch, I know what you're saying with this. This obsession with winning it all or nothing is so sickening.

I hate the 21st century. Gen Z is fucking everything up. The Brewers, they can't have another hundred, they can't have a hundred-win season and lose to the Cubs, though. In the DS. And also, that's the point of sports.

Alright. Why play then? The brewers are Like the best team in baseball. In the last 10 years. Yes.

Even better than the Dodgers. And that's crazy with the Dodgers' payroll. And they've been to none World Series. Zero. And it doesn't matter who that's not Gen Z, that's Gen A B D C E F G.

It doesn't matter who your manager is. You know, you lose Craig Console. It was like, holy shit, Craig Consell went to the Cups and Brewers are rolling around just fine. You lose David Stearns to the Mets. It was rolling around just fine.

Doesn't matter who's there. You guys The best team in the division by far. Constantly make the playoffs. You got nothing to show for it. At least the Braves wound up winning one.

during Bobby Cox's run there. Like you guys gotta you guys gotta Get some hardware.

So what the issue is, is if they go to Boston and can't play these games. Boston's locked in, they're playing the Yankees. It's happening. Rays are going to win the division. Those two are going to be the two best teams.

That's over. They're in the wild card. People are going to bitch because the whole ALE is going to be on one side. Whatever. It doesn't matter.

Um I think there's a lot of people talking about Gen Z. I think there's a lot of people that... I'm realizing They don't know baseball before interleague play. They might know baseball before you played everybody, the balanced schedule, they call it. Like now you play everybody.

And if the Cubs go to Boston one year, Boston's going to come to Wrigley the next. Back and forth. And then you have your one team that you play home and away every year. White Sox for the Cubs, Twins for the Brewers. Padres and Mariners do the Vetter Cup.

And then there's some other ones that make sense and some that don't. The Phillies, Braves, Red Sox. And who's the other team? They do like a four-way thing. Yeah, isn't the Orioles involved in that?

I don't know. No, Orioles play the Nationals. Oh, that, yeah. Yeah, it's the Phillies Red Sox. Braves, and there's got to be another American League team.

Yeah, because it's not the Pirates. Blue Jays? It might be the Blue Jays. Is it? No, I don't think.

Hold on. I think it is. But anyway, there's a lot of people that don't remember. Baseball without interleague play. I liked it.

Hold on, what? YouTube doesn't work. You can try, it doesn't work. Just tell him to search Sidney Sweeney's commercial on Novik, and he'll be fine. Oh, that's the other thing.

I am using my phone for internet. Like Computer, phone, internet. Because I started the post-game yesterday and immediately the internet went down. And I've had issues with internet before, but this is like the box just decided to kill itself. The box is done.

So I got to get a new box. And I hate like. This is a take I have that I'm not right. This is not a right take. But I feel like.

I understand if. You know, the power goes out. I understand that. I understand if The water has to be shut off for a day. These are utilities.

I feel like the internet needs to always work. I have no Exception. I give no grace to AT and T when it doesn't work. The internet was so connected. It has to fucking work.

Yes. All the fucking time. Even when it just backup on backup on backup. Yes. I get pissed even when I lag.

Yes. The internet should never. No, I would love to go back to the 90s and live in an internet-free world, but that's not what we live in. We live in an internet full world.

So it needs to fucking work. all the time.

So many times just doing the radio show. Oh, I can't connect. The internet doesn't work. We are a fucking radio show. You're a multi-million dollar company.

Odyssey. Oh, I'm going to put all this money into nine fucking stations, and Milwaukee's going to be on dial-up. Yeah. Mom, get off the phone. I'm trying to do a program here.

There was some fucked up thing where we always had to call the engineer because if the power even went out for a second. The internet reset and locked you out. Crazy.

So you couldn't get back on, and there was like no way to override it. The fuck if there wasn't. Anyway. It's unaccept unacceptable when the internet is out.

So I gotta Now I gotta set up a new box and put everything back on the internet. Ugh. With a new fucking passcode. Anyway, all right. Interleague play.

I don't like it. I would prefer it didn't exist. I like that when the World Series and the All-Star game was the only time the two leagues saw each other. If for anything other than I like that leagues have variety, I like that baseball's 162 games. And I like that the NFL is 18 or 17 games.

Well, 18 soon. And then I liked in the MLB, one league had a designated hitter, one didn't. I hated that. I did. I always hated it.

I don't like that the NBA and NHL Are played around the same time in the same buildings with the same exact amount of games. Yeah. I don't like that. That's weird. I either play differently or whatever.

I don't like it. I don't like it at all. It bothers me. Why? I don't know.

So I don't I like that baseball had something that was a little bit different. I do, I do want them when they expand to go to. Four eighths. I want an NL West, AL West. I want an AL East, NL, or A, you know what I mean.

I want that. Then you have your two division winners.

So well you have the NL NL North, NL South? No, east and west and both. Oh, oh, I got you.

Okay. So I want that back. Then you'll have your two division winners, and then you'll have four other wild cards. It doesn't matter east or west. Then you won't have to worry about, oh, Yankees race here, Central Division winner gets a buy.

You don't have to worry about that. I liked it when it was expanded. If you're at six playoff teams, they're not going to go back. But A pennant race doesn't feel like a pennant race. When it's five teams.

Yeah. Like winning the division four years in a row is pretty sick, even though only one other team's been trying. You know? It's like The Cardinals are in this weird spot. The Reds and.

Pirates give up by Memorial Day. I thought the Pirates are going to be good this year. Yeah, I thought they both would. I mean, when is this going to fucking turn around for either? Seriously.

For either pirates got some players man. They're not bereft of talent.

So, what happens when you have this interleague schedule and you have 15 and 15, meaning someone's always got to play a team from the other league? Then you get to the end of the season. Where I believe the White Sachs and Cubs are both playing inner league. Yeah. Play each other.

The problem is it's so hard to Reschedule these games. It's the last weekend of the season. There's weather. Where are you going to play? Can they play in Toronto?

Can they come play in Milwaukee? I don't think so. I think we have games. You got to play somewhere. You can't just reschedule.

And also, you can't quit these games because it's going to affect the National League. But the Red Sox don't want to play these games if they don't have to. They don't want to put strain on their pitchers before a series with the Yankees.

So they're not going to try anyway.

So, yeah, that part, you can't do anything about that part. It's just, are you going to get these games and how are you going to get them in? I go back a couple steps, don't like interleague play. Would like to see that corrected with expansion. Maybe have the month of July is all interleague play.

It's the dead of the fucking season. You know, it's all interleague. It's a little, I just, I don't. I don't like that at every point of the year, you're like. Why is Seattle in Florida?

Playing the Marlins. You know? Yeah. Why are the Rockies hosting The fucking blue jays right now. I was thinking of a random April 20th.

What the fuck? So I don't like that. I wish that was fixed a little bit, but. In the baseball wildcard race, this. You know, once in a fucking lifetime, aka two-month storm is coming to the northeast this week.

So, watch out. Yeah. So, a couple of things to unpack there. I actually, the other way, I do love interleague play selfishly because I'm a fan of a national league team and I only get to see them play the Mets once a year.

So if I get the double to my chances by having them play the Yankees. every other year here at the Yankee Stadium. I'll take that.

So I'm cool with interleague play. But it's got some another different issue for me in terms of getting these games in, whether it's the beginning of the season, how it's cold and rainy in March and April and shit, or the end of the season where it's going to be pretty much the same. Start building gums. All these fucking stadiums that don't like, especially in the northeast where you know it's going to be rainy and cold. Why don't you have domes?

You need retractable roofs. I don't care what you got to do, it's not my money. It No new stadium from now on in any sport should be built without a fucking dome or a retractable roof. And baseball has been so antiquated in terms of letting the weather. Baseball is the only sport that weather dictates whether you're going to play or not.

You need to remedy this situation in 2026. You need to build a roof/slash dome, whatever the case may be, so the weather is not a deterrent. for people showing it up and getting these games and shut up, dog. I do need to correct you. The Browns Buccaneers game had like a two and a half hour delay.

Yeah, because they had thunder and shit, and there's no dome. In Raymond James Stadium. It's open air. That's why they had a delay because they were going to get struck by lightning, and there's no cover. When I took my kid to the Timber Rattlers, the minor league team here in Appleton, you know them.

Of course how can I not? I said, um I said something like, I don't think it's supposed to rain tonight. He goes, Well, they'll just close the roof. And he's like sitting in the stadium. It's open air as it can be.

He still thinks like there's a magical roof. There should be. There should be a a it should just be oh fucking lightning in the area Click. Mm-hmm. Problem solved.

Nor'easter's coming. Boston and Chicago's got to get these games in. Click. Playball. Should be that fucking easy.

Lots going on in the world of sport. That's today's episode. I feel like it went quick. We have a lot more to say, but. I don't want to get billed for a second hour and my kid has a play date he's one minute late for.

Cool. He's not in school today. It's Yom Kippur.

So have you? I also got to use the bathroom. Yes. Happy Yom Kippur to everybody. You gotta appear shit.

You gotta be. Oh, I definitely gotta go too. I thought you were shitting before you got on. I have IBS, so I got to hit that bathroom frequently. I'm gonna tell you something about me quick.

Good, because I just told you something about me. I have this disease. That is like No one else has a body like mine. Is it diarrhea of the mouth? I got this bump I'm always touching in my stomach, which is part of my like ribs, but it sticks out.

It's weird. It's gross. It doesn't hurt. I don't even know it's there except for how much I touch it. I got a ball in my head.

I do it on this podcast. doing it right now. If I'm ever like bouncing up and down. I'm like playing with my stomach. Whoa.

Yeah. And then the other thing is, I went to a doctor once because I was getting bloated a lot, and he said, Your stomach. Moves. Like a dog. Like when dogs get constipated, it's because their stomach moves and it's got to unravel itself.

Like Santa's little helper in that episode where the Simpson needed to pay for the surgery. And I said, shouldn't I like be dead then? And he goes, no, it always unravels. But what happens is. all that excess builds up.

So you're gonna get bloated a lot. And for the rest of your life. You know those like healthy normal hoops people take.

Okay. I don't take those. The The the things working in my rectum. There's like little workers down there, and they pick up a hose and they just fucking spray everywhere. You got a couple of Chilean miners down there?

Basically, if I'm ever at your house. Don't let me use the bathroom unless you make me sign. that I will clean it. And I make you sign an NDA to not let anybody know what happened in there. Oh, God.

Ugh. I don't think you're allowed to come over. Like I don't like pooping In the downstairs bathroom, because you can still like kind of hear through the window. And I think if you're in my neighbor's house, you know when I'm shitting. Uh And this is what the bits are potted sports book paying for.

Carlos, great to see you likewise. We'll be back tomorrow with mm-hmm mm-mm. Check out all the Packers content. Yeah. LaFloor socks.

Thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse.
