Now. On with the show. This is not a drill. This is real. This is the Rich Eisen Show.
The Steelers are not winning the Super Bowl this year. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. Pittsburgh Steelers. Cam Hayward. The Rich Eisen Show.
The way you win this game is on the field. Earlier on the show, Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. Coming up, Academy Award nominated actor Adam Driver. Comedian Jake. And now it's Rich Eisen.
Our number two of the Rich Eisen show is on the air. The Academy Award nominated actor Adam Driver in the new film Paper Tigers on his way to our studio. He's going to join us in about twenty minutes' time, if the four hundred five allows. Eight four four two zero four. Rich is the number to dial on the Weather Tech Fan Line.
Phone lines are lit. We already chatted with Kurt Warner. On the program, we'll take a call in a minute.
So I mentioned earlier on the program. Let's get a little bit deeper into it. Jaquan Brisker lit up Deshaun Watson in in Sunday's game, and and Deshaun had to come out to be checked for concussion. And Shadour played a snap or two, and then Watson came back in. He was cleared, and then after the game had no symptoms, and then on Monday had no symptoms, but Tuesday said, "I'm not feeling that great," and so he's in the concussion protocol, which means Shadour Sanders is going to get some time with the ones, which means we might see Shadour start a game for the Browns.
Who are five and three, as we know, winning most of their games with Deshaun Watson turning into Tim Tebow in the fourth quarter after a lot of struggles for three quarters. Didn't happen this time around because the Steelers just beat him up, and it wasn't close. This was Todd Munkin moments ago talking about what happened with with Watson. What I would say is. Credit to Deshaun.
You know, after the game, felt fine. You know, Monday night started feeling a little bit, a little bit of a headache, and came in Tuesday, and you know, reported.
So credit to him for someone who really loves playing the game. And so he is in the in the protocol, and should Earl take the reps today with the ones?
Okay.
Okay.
All right, kid. See what you got. Let's see what you got. And he has already spoken with the media. Had this to say: I had a lot of ups and downs, you know, in my life so far.
Even though I'm only like 24, so I tend to not even get really too excited, you know, when it comes to things. Like I always been the same. Like always been like very, you know, relaxed. You know, when it comes to things that as this and other things just in life in general.
So. I ain't really trying to ride the roller coaster life, you know. I like to to keep everything even.
Okay.
Okay.
Listen, let's just be straight up about it. This is exactly what Browns fans wanted going into the season, right? And that's what we all assumed was going to happen week three. Because of the way Watson was received and his reaction to it in the preseason, when he was started on the road at first, because of the way Browns fans were assumed to have getting ready to receive Watson. And then Watson played extremely well in Week Two, earning himself a Week Three start at home, and now they're above five hundred at five and three.
Watson pulling a lot of frying pans out of the fire, and now comes the kid. It seems in New Orleans, and that is no easy place to play. You know. As we've been watching the last two Sunday night and Monday night games in Seattle, Coop turns to me and he goes, "Dad, is Seattle the loudest place to play in the NFL?" And I'm like, "Outdoor stadium, that and Arrowhead, and you know Denver, your ears can ring there. Indoors, there's one stands out.
That Superdome is loud. It can be certainly for a night game. This won't be one." Night game, as you know, there is a lot of swing oil that gets taken in throughout the day, a lot of fuel, so it won't be easy. Monken had this to say about getting Shadour ready for what appears to be his first start of the season, and I can't wait. This is so cool.
I mean, that's. You know, an opportunity. If it goes that way, then he gets a great opportunity, right, to go play, right, and and for us to to see him go play. And you know, again, I don't know how tomorrow Deshaun will feel tomorrow. I'm excited for today.
I'm excited for us to go out there today. We'll be indoors because of the rain. Hell, we're playing indoors, so that happens to work out. And I can't wait to see him let it rip today and see where we're at. I mean, that's that's what you do.
That's that's why you build depth. That's why he got a. Of reps in fall camp. I mean, that's really the benefit of all this. Is when we opened it up as a competition, he got a ton of those reps.
I love this guy. That' a great way. It. This is why he's so good. He's consistent, right?
Two weeks ago, we're talking to him. He's just like, "How great is it being a coach in the NFL?" Right? I get to hand out game balls. I'm having a good time.
So when he says that, you could say, "Well." He's not really terribly happy about it. He's just that's consistent. That's Todd Munkin. That's what we've learned over the first two months of him being in a regular season head coach.
Sorry for on your show.
So that's out there right now. And hey, the Steelers just beat him up. And hey, the Bengals are coming on strong. The Browns, with the Ravens starting a third-string quarterback, they win this game in New Orleans. They're six and three.
You know they would have won two-thirds of their first half of their schedule. And we'll see what Chador looks like, and then Monken might have a first-class problem with Houston coming to town. You know Watson's going to want to play that game. Eight four four two zero four, Rich, number to dial on the WeatherTech Fan Line. Let's sneak in a call before I get to my power rankings that are all over the map.
I bet. Oh yes. Let's go to.
Okay, we'll take Luke in New Jersey's call. What's up, Luke? You there, Luke? Rich, can you hear me? I can.
What's up, man? I can be a follow. How's it going? I want to talk about. I'm sick of this.
Rhetoric against Notre Dame. This idea that they're dodging difficult teams. We tried to put Indiana on the schedule; they didn't want it. We tried to put USC; keep that rivalry; they don't want it. Is that what it is?
Listen, I can only handle this. Notre.
Okay, you got to play who you're going to play, right? And so they they play Big Ten teams, but the Big Ten teams are Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Purdue. You know, and then obviously they're playing a half of an ACC schedule. Miami's really the only one that's on there. BYU is is outside of that realm, and Michigan, man.
Notre Dame's the one who took Michigan off the schedule, Luke.
So yeah, but I think they still is supremely talented, and I'd love to see them in the playoffs. Certainly, since they didn't get a shot last year. I think the thing that gets missed is is how far in advance Notre Dame schedules these games. The home and home against Wisconsin was scheduled like seven years ago when Wisconsin was a solid football team. I think that the the other thing here too is Indiana is number four with a equally as weak resume on the win side, and then a loss to a worse team the Notre Dame has.
But they put us at eleven because we're not in their conference, and I don't think that that makes any sense. Luke, I appreciate the call. I appreciate you capping for. There you go. There's a real Notre Dame fan from New Jersey, just like Mike Del Tufo.
You know, the schedule you're looking at. It right. I'm gonna say, I'll say what's on my mind here.
Okay, that's what you do. I'm gonna piss off Big Cat and JJ Watt and the rest of the Wisconsin folks. Hey Notre Dame, you took Michigan off your schedule. Fact. You want to do home and homes with Michigan to start the season, like that happened all the time when I was in school there.
That was the greatest. That happened over and over and over again. Great way to start. And I know my school and squad isn't lighting up many fires, but if you'd beaten Michigan to start Week One this year. You might not be 11th on the schedule on the first college football playoff standings, with all due respect.
And I know Wisconsin pounded USC, which just pounded Ohio State. Whatever. I think Notre Dame is supremely talented. I think they should get a shot. Certainly, since they didn't get one last year after making the final the year before.
You can leave them out two years in a row, but I guess that whole plan of leave no doubt. There's, there's, there's doubt. No doubt, it it it exists.
Now, was a call on the WeatherTech fan line, brought to you by WeatherTech for American-made floor liners and a cargo liner that laugh in the face of fall weather. Visit weathertech dot com today. Adam Driver, I believe, has just walked into our studio. Let's give him some time. He doesn't.
He doesn't need much in makeup. Could be the hair, because you know Sarah does not usually work on hair on the Rich Eisen show. No, you know, that's true. You're the only one, TJ. Right?
I have my and you do your own.
Okay, very good.
So, good thing I can let Adam hang out there, get ready. With my power rankings, okay. Brought to you by Sofi. This is my power rankings. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Power rankings.
Okay, giving an applause to myself because this is not easy. It's getting crazier. These are my week nine power rankings. Brought to you by Sofi. Back on the list.
I'm putting the Detroit Lions on this list. Oh, I like what I've seen the last three weeks.
Okay, this is the real gaudy of the National Football League right now.
Okay, you write about that. All right, this is the gaudy.
Okay, Goff and Gibbs and Amon-Ra and Jamo and Laporta. All right. The offensive line doing its thing defensively. I'm a little concerned about the injuries, and there was a statement from Jack Campbell that we'll read later on. That is troubling and encouraging all at the same time.
But the Lions have done what they needed to do: three wins in a row. At Arizona, a bye week, and then they've held serve at home against Green Bay and Minnesota in division.
Now they go to Miami. They're staring a six and two start. Previously unranked, now they're back on the list. Number nine. I this is the first time I'm putting them on the list, huh?
Okay, I'm unaware of that. But the Pittsburgh Steelers are making their debut in Week Nine. Oh, at number nine, we'll put them here. Jalen Warren. That's what Cam Hayward.
When I asked him the MVP of the team that we're not talking about, he just like, oh, Jalen Warren. He even said it like that. And you know, I know they're not getting a lot of air yards. That's the next gen stat. They're completing passes, but Rogers is only completing them from like five yards down the field and closer to their line of scrimmage.
Not a lot of chunk plays. We call that in the air yards. That's next gen stat garbage. They're six and two with a defense that can hit you in the mouth. All right, Rogers isn't happy.
Let's get Pittman back. You think Ayuk should go there, TJ? Right? Kick the tires on Ayuk. You did a couple years ago.
Look, if you if If you want to win, you're gonna. I think they do. I think Rodgers is probably knocking on the door, saying, "I got this, I got this." You get him here. Can they? Can they?
Can they work together? Can they? I think Rodgers would work with anybody that is talented enough to help him, help them. Good point. They're number nine on the list.
Number eight, up one spot, are the Bengals. Oh yeah. Joe Burrow, you say he he deserves the MVP right now, right? I think midway through the season, right? You said that an ORM, or that was just a conversation starter.
ORM, he's got the numbers. He's a league in touchdown passes. Yeah, baby, twenty, baby.
Okay, defensively, they are improved. We can say that with certainty. They're eight. They're going to Spain too, so they're Ocho on the list. Without Madrid, number seven up three spots of the Broncos.
Bronco, yep. And I'm putting the Chiefs above them. They're six, no change. Interesting. Yeah, man.
They were on a one-yard line. If they were on a one-yard line, popped it in, they'd be higher than six.
So I'm keeping them at six, and I understand Broncos fans that you're above them; they're looking up at you in the standings. But I think this game goes to Arrowhead. The Chiefs win, and the Chiefs damn near won in Denver too. But I'm moving Denver up three spots to seven, and I keep the Chiefs right there at six. I didn't know that.
Now let's get to the top five right now. All right, five. Up two spots of your Patriots, Chris. Wasn't terribly impressed with their first half in Miami, but I'm going to throw that one out because they're banged up and crazy things happen in division. Certainly when New England goes to Miami or anybody does.
Crazy banged up, okay. But Drake May got it done again. Defensively, they are stout. A little concerned about your field goal kicking. Yeah, that's.
Well, Gallus's last year was superb. This year is not nearly as automatic. Might come back to bite you. But they're top five. At five and three, up four spots are the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tell you all, I like that. Out of all the teams in the NFL, you make a mistake against them and they pounce like a like a jaguar. I imagine. Again, I haven't been around a jaguar, an actual jaguar. I'm just assuming if you make a mistake around an actual jaguar, it's it's it's not good for you.
Sounds accurate. Are they the team that plays the most like their mascot? Oh, great question. Maybe so. Maybe so.
Great question. Maybe so. Or you can also throw the Giants in there because they are. Gigantic! Come on, bro.
Okay.
Hey, man. The Jaguars are fourth. Jaguars. I think they're about to go six and two. Also.
And out of everybody, this you could say they out of anybody in first place in their division. I think you could safely say this. This is the one that can start thinking about printing a playoff ticket. Think so. Number three.
Down one spot on their bye week, I'm putting the Niners here.
Okay, they're like, "What did we do?" I know, I know, and it leaves two teams left. I went back and forth, Cowboys, Bills, and Bears. Bears and Bills. Who do I put number one? The Bills were number one last week, and they won.
They beat the Ravens. I think that's pretty. But they beat up the Ravens more than they beat the Ravens. Can you say that with a? They beat Joe Joe Fognano.
I don't know, but they got Joe Fognano in the game. Yeah, that's true. All right, yeah, but and then and then t here is the Bears who did what we they did against Seattle.
So here is you know the way I've landed on it. Come on, here is how I've landed on it. The bills are two. What? Oh, shocker!
Yeah, I've knocked them down one. I think right now, the Chicago Bears beat anybody that's on their schedule. That's the way they're playing. Wow, I'm, I'm, I'm in. I agree with you.
I'm in. I agree with you. Now, interestingly enough, they're playing a team in Tampa Bay that's won two in a row. That defensively has taken care of business. They have been TC being, and this is going to be a nice new test for Caleb, who I'm sure is being tested by being told multiple times, not just by me, but others, saying, "Hey, this is a nice new test for you." And he'd be like, "What?
What other elite quarterbacks do you say this is a test?" Yeah. The challenge, you know what I mean? You would say to Mahomes, "This is a challenge, not a test, right?" We're talking about tests, not a challenge. We're talking tests.
So, I think with Jeffrey Simmons on the defensive line, Kyle Monungi, hopefully for the Bears, coming back from his turf toe, he's been out over a month now. This run game, the way it's playing, the offensive line protecting Caleb against the dark side, the way that it did, Luther Burden and Roma Dunze and Khalif Raymond and Colston Loveland and this Bears defense—they beat anybody on their schedule the way they're playing right now. Which is why I'm putting them atop my power rankings.
Well done. It's brought to you by Sofi. Get your money right. And the two teams that I knocked off the list: the six and one Vikings. I know, and and the Seahawks, who I took from out to three, and now out again.
Playing with the remote. But I'm putting the Bears one, man. I'm putting the Bears one. I've reached the point of of the season where. The eye test sometimes outweighs the record, the overall record, you know.
So, in the comment section, will reflect that, of course. Hey, I'm willing to take it. I'm willing to take it. It's a free country. It's a democracy, as we've seen.
Apparently, you know, go for it. Feel free to comment. I might comment back. Oh, like, subscribe, and share. That's right, like, subscribe, and share.

The character is twenty years older than where you are now, and and I just knew this person right away. I recognized him. I mean, I wasn't, I didn't grow up in New York in the '80s, but but that kind of personality, I I recognized, right?
And it's and it's so well, you know, articulated in the script. And it's it's just it's intense. I don't want to give too much away. Certainly, the way the way it ends on top of all of it. It premiered in the Cannes Film Festival in May.
It's in theaters Friday next week on November 13th. Our radio audiences returned. Scarlett Johansson, Miles. Teller and Adam Driver, who is here on the program.
So you and Scarlett Johansson back in the movie together. Yeah, I mean that was one of your Oscar-nominated roles from that. Yeah, that you did with her. You did Marriage Story with her.
So a nice little reunion. Yeah, yeah. For you guys to. Yeah, yeah. There was no breaking the ice.
Right. Yeah. You could just slip right into the right right into that role. Yeah, yeah. For sure.
Um, and Miles Teller is um is outstanding in this as well, and so neat period piece. It's pretty cool, and so when you when you do a film like this back in the eighties, I mean, do you personally get into what you are wearing and the and the getups and things like that? Oh yeah, the costumes for sure. I mean, this guy Leonard Logsdell, who I'd worked with before, he did the costumes for Ferrari, the suits for Ferrari and and and Gucci. He's amazing.
He made some some suits for it, and Amy Roth picked a a mixture of Leonard's suits. Yes. And vintage things.
So the only thing was just kind of stay away from shoulder pads. That was that was my main directive. I mean, look at this scene right there. The photograph. It's so that's a Leonard suit, right?
Well, I just I'm just talking about the the the the house. Yeah, like a small house in Queens. It's exact. I grew up in Staten Island. I saw this, and I'm like, I'm very familiar with that territory.
Yeah, yeah. So it's great movie, and and everyone should go see it. You just mentioned Ferrari, which is the last film you were here. You know, Michael Mann was directing that. Oh yeah.
So Heat two. Heat two. Are you in that? Uh huh. You are.
Yeah. Can you tell who are you playing in Heat? I think I can. I can say I play Otis Wardell. You do?
Yes. Okay.
Yeah. Because that's been rumored. Yeah. That you're you're playing the main antagonist of Heat Two. Yeah.
Yeah. Okay.
I yeah I think I can say that.
Well, I'll find out. I'll find out pretty soon. I see a fury of texts. Oh no! No, there's some head nods to the left, which is good, which means I may proceed with my follow up question.
How friggin' cool is that? Great. I mean, Heat is a masterpiece. Yeah. That then I'm involved in it.
You know, I I love Michael. I loved working with him, Ferrari. But but working on, on this, I'm excited. The cast is so awesome. We start.
We were kind of pushed a little bit.
So we they've already started. And I I kind of join top of December and we start shooting the top of next year.
Okay, yeah, we we pushed a little bit because of the news that we just saw. No, no, no, no. That was already part of the plan. But he's good. He he was like you know I I texted him immediately.
He responded. He was out. He was at work the next day. Thank goodness. Yeah, yeah.
I was worried you might have been with him or something. No, no, no, no. No, I had a lot of texts. Like, is this your fault? No, we're good.
Good. He's good. He's okay. No, there's there's a lot of gunplay and heat. Sure.
Um.
So and he's. He's done that. He's done that same—not the same—shooting himself in the leg, but that same motion, two hundred, you know, twenty thousand times. He used to shoot competitively, so I'm not sure exactly what what happened, but but that is a dark character. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
How do you get ready for something like that, man? Like, I don't know. I'm he's he's going to take me to some places this Friday, and you know, slowly but surely, like take you to some places. Is what that are related to the script? Physically take you, yeah, yeah, here around town in Los Angeles, yeah, yeah.
That now, I mean, obviously you've worked with them before, yeah. But to basically take a heat to sort of set location ride with Michael Mann, it's awesome. All of it, you know, and my just from Michael is the kind of person who you know, for Ferrari, had to get the car that won the Mila Mia, had to ship it to you know, I forget how much, like a ninety million dollar car, right? A big portion of the budget was about shipping that exact car to location just so we can. Mics to it and run it through a tunnel.
It's not even in the movie. No, it's just to get the the right sound, you know, for what what that car would sound like going through a tunnel.
Okay, that's the kind of you know he's that he's that specific.
Okay, well, I mean, for if this was heat, he could just pick you up from here. We're right near LAX. Oh, right, yeah, yeah, yeah. Spoiler alert, you know. But that that is so.
Cool. Yeah, you're able to.
So, because it's a it's a prequel and a sequel. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a before and there's obviously there's a before if you're playing your character. Yeah, right. Yeah.
Okay.
All right. Fantastic! Yeah, I I can't wait for that. I'm I'm excited to to get into it. Also, I bet.
Yeah, I'm like sounding very cryptic because I'm.
Well, I know you you can't. I know you don't want to give too much away. Or and I'm sure that there's. But the books it's and it was a massive hit. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
As a book, and I say as a script, it's it's even more condensed and streamlined. And obviously, in the book, you have to have a lot of. You know a lot of descriptors, but with the film, it's just it's it's a missile. Wow! Descript.
I can't wait. That is so cool, and I appreciate you you sharing about that. Paper Tiger again in theaters and Friday next week, November thirteenth. All right, there's a couple things I need to bring up with you as well that I kind of didn't hit with you. No, it's fun.
Okay, your SNL appearances, yeah, are just spectacular. You've hosted that four times. Four times, yeah, I know.
Okay, so you want to do one more time? Because you need the jacket. You get the the robe, right? Yeah, yeah. You get the robe.
It's like a green jacket. Is it a robe or is it a robe? Yeah, I think it's a robe. Oh, is it? The other is the Masters.
Have you ever been in the Masters? Yeah, maybe I'm confusing the two. Happens. I mean, okay, so there's a couple. First of all, the I want you to get the character right.
The Abraham H. Parnassus. Yeah, you're playing the oil baron. Yeah, in the what the the the classroom where you're the parent coming in to talk to the kids. Yeah, and Pete Davidson is your son.
Yes, he could not hold it together. No. But you did, yeah. I mean, yeah, kept it together in that scene and sketch. I'm humorless in life, so it it's a one for one transition.
Take it really seriously to the point of of annoyance.
So I was in the zone. He couldn't handle it. No, no, no. Um, you know, yeah, yeah. I also wasn't supposed to go through the the like hit the the bird with the thing, and I wasn't supposed to spirit like a harpoon and Moby Dick.
So, you have you have you seen this skit? No. Okay.
So all right.
So you you you bring a prop, which is what parents. To talk about what they do for a living, yes. Bring a prop to a classroom, and as an oil baron, an eighty-something-year-old oil baron, you brought a like a crow, a crow that's been that's dead due to being stuck in oil. Yes. And at one point, you take your cane and it impale the bird.
You were not supposed to do that. Not impale it quite so. Succinctly, I think I think I was supposed to smash it, but then I just I got it first try, and then then it was about getting it off. But but looking at it now, I'm like I should have gone farther with it. I should have just just speared the out of it.
How can I not say that? I don't know who's more upset, the FCC or Peter?
Well, but that was a real bird when you they caught it just outside. Oh my god!
So. In when you're pitched that. Yeah, who came up with that? Were you part of it at all, or no? No, not at all.
I'm never good when at SNL, where you're supposed to go through the the rooms and say like, "What do you want to play?" Okay, I think I may have come up maybe two ideas in the four four times I've done it, but I always just you know, I'm boring in those rooms. I go in, they're like, "What do you want to play?" And I'm like, "Whatever you come up with is going to be more interesting than I." Yes, you're you're too humble. I mean, you're sitting here saying you're humorless in life and that you're you're. You know, you are just. A guy just there.
Yeah, I mean, but it is when you when you're out there. It's easier when it's like somebody else's idea. When it's mine, it's like almost too self conscious. Have you come up with an idea for? No, not nothing that's been good.
Yeah, really. Yeah, nothing that made air. Nothing that everything that they I I honestly like. I have certain opinions about which ones I want to do, but um uh or or ones that didn't make it that I wish they did. But it's all their ideas.
It's all all the writers. Kylo Ren. Undercover, yeah, yeah, yeah. Is extended. That was a brilliant one too.
Yeah, yeah. Where you're, you're undercover as Kylo Ren. Yeah, going around and asking stormtroopers on their break time in the lunchroom, "What do you think of Kylo Ren?" Yeah, yeah. Oh my gosh. Did you have to be arm twisted or pitched on something like that?
No. Honestly, the the writers, they're this sounds like a boring, you know, democratic, but they're They are so good that I like. It's kind of a no-brainer, you know. When they, the skits that they were, I had nothing to do with that. You know, they.
I remember they shipped in. They shipped in the real costume for the first one, and the second one they had the like follow-up one, the prequel. They had or the sequel. They had kind of like a like when you get like a Halloween store. In in in all seriousness, though, are you done?
You think playing Kylo Ren? Yeah, yeah, it's over. It's over. Yeah, yeah, no more Star Wars for you. No more Star Wars.
We tried. We tried to do one more. Yeah, but they're like, no, he's dead. Yeah, I know, but I mean we. These things you can make anything up.
I know. Yeah. I mean, we worked on where Darth Vader turned out to be somebody's father. You know that that came out of nowhere. Yeah.
Yeah. Back in the day. Yeah. Yep. Yep.
No. And Soderbergh was going to do it. Stephen Soderbergh. We worked on it for a few years, really and earnestly for two years. We we got a script together that was really good with Scott Burns and Rebecca Blunt and Soderbergh and I, and we all worked on it.
That's a dream team. It was awesome. It was really cool. But you know, I don't. Get to decide.
Okay.
Yeah, but that there's no like. What if somebody comes along and says, "Let's resurrect that." If they wanted to, but I'm I'm not. If they wanted to, fine. But we're not. You're not there.
It's not our call. Yeah, yeah. I think it's. I think the ship has sailed, though. Hmm.
Well, that's a bummer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The the fans' response to it though was pretty incredible. That I didn't expect that it was going to be. Billboards and and people flying planes over Disney and things like that.
That was pretty cool.
Well, I mean, it's a very intense fan base. Yeah, yeah. I'm sure you have found out. Yeah. Has anybody ever come up to you like angry about what your character did?
Angry at you? No one ever giving you a what for? As they would. There's like people that said like at the the Tonys one time they did like a thing where they yeah, but but nothing. No, no one was like seriously angry.
I remember watching at the premiere. Anticipating that people were going to be pissed, then when it was over, it seemed to be okay.
Okay.
Yeah. Yeah. Because you don't have anything to do with. Yeah. Was I didn't write it.
You know. I just I just showed up. He told me to stick him.
Soderbergh. Yeah. Dude, man. And and the idea the idea that he how he was going to shoot it was going to be cheap like not not cheap like it was going to be. He does everything on on a.
It wasn't going to be that. It wasn't going to be no. It was going to you know be very produced, but the way that we were going to make it. We're like, okay, how do we do it? You know, cheaper would he even get to that stage?
Right, but he's the king of just shooting it and then editing it and then showing it to you the next day. This is what we just did. Yeah, yeah. He's the king of that. Yeah, that night usually at the bar, everyone goes goes to the bar afterwards.
You're not kidding, though, right? No, no, not at all. You usually you're. It's like it's usually like we're breaking for lunch and that's a wrap. You're done by like twelve or one.
He edits. He'll go right to the bar. He'll not maybe not at twelve, but that evening he's at the bar, just editing on a laptop. Anybody can come by, like anybody in the hotel they were staying in, could just come by and see what he's editing on. And then by the first week, he had a like thirty minutes of the movie that needed to be cut down.
But it was he sees it. He'll see a scene and see the shots, and you won't even sometimes do the whole scene. He'll just stop you right there, and all the conversations that are typically happening on. Set of the camera and the director, and you know they're all he's doing all those roles.
So all those conversations are happening in a set.
So the the speed of the set is so fast. He's one of the most brilliant people I've ever met. He's incredible, right? And and this show was born out of a podcast for a few years. And one year, Stephen was kind enough to indulge us, where I asked him, would he review.
A Super Bowl broadcast to watch the Super Bowl start to finish as a director and review it. You know the commercials as well. He was phenomenal. It was one of the greatest things ever to just because he just looks at things from a completely different point of view. Yeah, yeah.
Have you? Ever revealed what the the plot was? No, no, no. Do you wish to do that? No, no.
I think I'll just hold on to it and then and then die with it. That sounds so final. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It builds like a you know okay calcium. Misty Green is available for streaming on Netflix on November ninth.
Um, and this is an A twenty four film that has been out, but Netflix is beginning to stream it. Chris Rock. Yeah. What's he like as a director? Awesome.
He's he's. Do you know Chris? Absolutely. He's incredibly thoughtful. I didn't know him.
I knew him kind kind of socially. I'd always and I'd always reached out to him also and been like, because I'd seen Top Five, right? And you know whatever you're doing, like I want to I want to be a part of it. Same thing with James. Yes.
And then working with him, we shot it here. It was just a week for this thing that I had to do, and he he he's awesome, incredibly. Unpretentious, smart, funny, obviously, but but a real a real great philosopher, which sounds boring, but his his How he processes this industry, which is what this one is kind of about, is really succinct and comes from a very smart, you know, place.
Well, great comedians can deconstruct anything, right? Yeah, think about it, and that might actually translate to being a director. Yeah, he's he's very like a deep, thoughtful person, and I think that was this. I mean, you get it in his comedy, obviously, but. He, it's really thought provoking.
Every time I have a conversation with him, I, you know, there's a lot to chew on afterwards. And that is going to be available for streaming again on Netflix on November ninth.
So this Friday. You're going to be driving around town with Michael Mann, yes, in advance of Heat Two, yeah, the following Fridays when Paper Tiger comes out.
So you got you got you got a lot of Friday action coming. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is the most I've been out on a Friday night, a long time.
Well, I, you know what, I'm I might just go driving around town Friday. We're going to be in this area probably. Actually, it's not LAX, is it?
Well, there's parts of LAX.
Okay, I mean, just like live streaming or something. We this has to be. I would pay like. Pay per view to watch this. Probably not live stream, but but you guys are more that you can come along.
I mean, ride along. Why not? Yeah, don't tell us that. Yeah, don't tempt me. Yeah, I'll be there.
How big a car can we? I mean, I don't know. I'm not really sure who we're meeting.
Okay, I'll figure out. From Michael, it's not Leo and Christian Bale. No, no, no. It's just you. It's me and Michael and some some other dudes.
Okay, doing some stuff around L.A.
Well, wear neutral colors. Yeah, right. That's a good one. Again, congrats on Paper Tiger. It's it's it's an excellent film.
Thank you. It really is. And come back anytime, man. Yeah. No, I'd love to come back.
It's a little blast. I appreciate you you saying that. And it's a it's a great movie. Everybody should go see it next week, November thirteenth, next Friday. And if you're around Los Angeles, maybe you know a drive through or something.
I have no idea.
Okay.

What a frightening moment it was when he was carted off, and the Lions players, to a man, were all crying. And the heartbeat at the middle of this defense, we were all wondering what's going on with him. He's put out a statement, thanking everyone for the love and prayers and support. I'm incredibly encouraged by the progress I've made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I'm continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body.
I know there's still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I'm taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better. He added about how his faith in God has never been stronger. I know he has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there's many challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we'll get through this.
Those are the first three paragraphs. It was a lengthy statement where he thanked first responders and fans and and the city of Detroit.
So everyone should go seek that out. Dan Campbell. Took to the podium, um, in his usual Wednesday spot in advance of this week's game against Miami, and had this to say. Yeah, I think anytime you know that he, you especially being able to hear it from him, means that means a lot. That's powerful in itself.
You know, more than hearing it from me or anybody else. Those are his and his family's words, so that that's powerful. And and I know that always helps to know that he's improving, and because at this point, that's all you're looking for. It's just to know that he is improving, and you know this thing, the status is changing every eight hours, ten hours, in a good way. You know, so that that's that's it.
Always is going to help. Wow! Right? I mean, there's what else can you say other than that? Yeah.
Now you know why knees were being taken and tears were were coming down, right? I missed the actual play, and I haven't.
Well, it went out to go watch it. It looks like many other tackles that you'll see. It's just that his his his back was bent in a certain way, and his neck and his head were in a certain spot. Yeah, I saw this picture, and he's kind of accordion, you know, and so. I think it's obvious now that he he had no movement as he was being taken off.
I think so, yeah. If he's talking about improving and how he has feeling in his lower body and he's still working on his upper body, I mean, wow, yeah, wow. And we just take so much for granted, but players just pop up after getting hit, and and you never know. Right, I mean, in the world of professional football around the world, did you see a player in Europe collided with a goalkeeper, and he's no longer alive? It's crazy, man, and it's just one of those things where you just have to take stock every day and and hug your loved ones, and then send best to people like Jack Campbell.
Eight four four two zero four, which is the number to dial right here on the program. We just had a chat with Adam Driver, and I gave you my power rankings earlier this hour. The comedian Jake Lambert is coming out in hour number three, so we'll have some good laughs coming up the next hour. And we'll take your your WeatherTech phone line calls, Adam Driver. Talking about him going around town on Friday with Michael Mann, looking at spots for Heat Two to get him inspired for the character he plays, who is a real nasty hombre.
Yeah, nasty.
So he's gonna go dark for Heat Two. Christian Bale's in it. Leonardo DiCaprio's in it. Yeah, yeah. Jason Clark.
The cast is studded, star studded, right? Star studded. Been waiting for this one. He, like Adam said, is an absolute masterpiece, and the follow-up is just expectations are high, right? To say the least.
If Steven Soderbergh and Adam Driver put a movie together about Kylo Ren, how is that not made? Unclear. I don't know. How's it still not made now? Who said says?
Yeah, you know what? Not a great idea. I don't know. Great time. I don't know.
We should probably get off that because it's probably somebody that works for this for this logo on the mic flag. Another wait a minute. What were we talking about? Another reconsidering. What were we talking about?
Oh, hour three's coming. Yeah, just like full Jonah Hill GIF. No, don't don't talk about it. Adam's best. Thanks for listening to the Rich Eisen Show podcast.
