Yeah. Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome into the Winkler Verse. I'm Bart Winkler.
Some interpretations about the Bucks. Press conference, which was at the Milwaukee Art Museum. They have been really expanding and they've had a lot of opportunities to have different locations for these new announcements since they've been hiring and firing coaches at an incredible rate. Harry over the last five years or so. Taylor Jenkins is the latest coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Spent about five years in Memphis, spent one year, maybe 10 months total, he said, Taylor Jenkins in Milwaukee back in the late 2010s, the 18. season. And now he is going to be the headman in Milwaukee. And from a Taylor Jenkins impression. Review Everything is fine.
Everything is fine. As long as you like have some sort of set, like I'm trying to be cautious. Because did he win the press conference? Did he lose the press conference? Does it matter?
Does it matter? These new Packer assistants talk. Oh, you won the press. What did he win? He made 10 beat reporters laugh?
But then I think back to Matt LaFleur's press conference where Mark Murphy basically didn't let him talk. And I was like, oh, I don't know about this guy. And I still feel The same way. About that.
So, is the press conference important? Yes, it's an introductory. We want to get excited about Bucks basketball. I get that. And I think Taylor Jenkins is a good hire.
And I think he's a good coach. But And it should not have taken me two minutes to get to this point. It's all It's all under the cloud. of what to do with Giannis. It's all under the cloud.
So the Bucs made a quick decision. quicker than I thought they might. You know, maybe you draw this out a little bit. Interview more candidates, but they said. Horse said, Jimmy Haslam said.
who I was surprised he was there, but they had both said this was our guy. We reached out to him. He wanted to be the coach here, and we wanted him to be here.
So It moved quickly. I think the Bucs are motivated to move quickly because of the Giannis. I don't want to say saga. I don't want to say problem. I'll just say the cloud that looms and hangs over this organization.
There's no doubt about that. And if you watched any of this press conference or checking this out to find out what happened. It was a lot of like, okay, Taylor, how much do you like Milwaukee? What are your. Foundations, what are your principles?
All right, did we check those off regarding Giannis? Like that is the question with the Bucks right now.
So for Taylor's sake. We should almost Have whatever's going to happen with Giannis happen. And then, after that, should he sign an extension or get traded? Then let's talk to Taylor again. Then let's talk.
Let's do this. Again, just with the updated information. Because You know, you're asking a guy what he thinks of his movie that he finished, but he's only on page two. He doesn't know yet. He's got a rough idea of where he wants to go, but the thing has not been written yet.
And this summer, has not been written yet. For the Milwaukee Bucks.
So that cloud did hang over the entire press conference. Good to see John Horst. Alive and well. Good to see Jimmy Haslam. Not really, but.
Sort of, he is a co-governor of this team. He should be seen more. I believe this is the first time he's been in this kind of setting. Where People can ask him questions. About the Milwaukee Bucks.
Now, he was asked about the Milwaukee Bucks at the NFL owners meeting. A hilarious response that he gave, very canned, and he knew it was coming. This is a clip from the Bucks press conference, Bucks.com. Jim Ozarski had asked Jimmy Haslam about. Giannis and what may be next.
with the superstar. Um Wes has been on the record with What? You will or won't do with Giannis in terms of his extension October. Have you come to any decisions on whether you'll trade him? No, I somebody asked me at the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix, what about Giannis?
And I said, I thought we were here to talk about football, but I said, No, Yannis is. brought Milwaukee its second championship. Uh, in first in 50 years, he's he's a phenomenal player, he's a phenomenal person, he's arguably one of the best basketball players in the world. And we will do what's best for Giannis and what's best for the organization. We don't know whether Giannis will stay with us or not, but we'll work through that with Giannis in the coming weeks.
All right, so. People aren't exactly thrilled with that answer. I think the answer that you want is. Yeah, Giannis, I just talked to him this morning. He's signing a Super Max.
He may or may not have been at a Tom's drive in an Appleton. I don't know what's real anymore. I don't know what's real. That might have been AI. I don't know if he's in Greece.
I don't know where the hell he is. I knew I wasn't at the press conference. Pete Nance was, though, and Cormac Ryan. They always bring the. Starter's out for those.
I don't think anything that Jimmy Haslam said there is. Shocking. They do need to figure out what they're going to do with Giannis in the coming weeks. Because of the NBA draft. Last summer, once they did not trade him.
For a draft pick last summer. Why would you then trade him? A better time would be you wouldn't, you gotta, if you're gonna trade him, you gotta have. The picks available to try to improve instantly. You want to trade them.
See where your lottery pick's going to be. We'll find out this Sunday. See what else you can do and maneuver. We'll find out coming up. You know, again, in the coming weeks.
So, an answer on Giannis would be best suited to come before the NBA draft. I'm not entirely sure it does. I don't know that we're going to have this resolved. He's got until October to sign this thing. I don't know if he'll want to feel the pressure.
To sign it? The Bucks may, you know, ask him. Very nicely to sign it. And if and if he's like, I need more time, then they might just trade him. This Jimmy Haslam answer and the way that they've been acting.
I don't think they are. Certainly not 100%, maybe not even 80%, maybe not even 50%. 50. Like Oh, absolutely. We want Giannis.
It's a matter of his decision. Maybe they do, but they also maybe want a posture. As if, you know, we'll play hard to get or let him. We want some control back of the situation. I think.
Is where Bucks ownership seems to be, including what Jimmy Haslam said there. The thing I'm not thrilled about. We'll see what is in the best interest for us and for Giannis. I understand that Giannis has given you. Credibility.
worldwide marketability. Superstardom.
Some of the greatest nights downtown Milwaukee's ever seen. A new arena, a championship. Two NBA Cup. But Okay, but I don't want you to take pennies on the dollar, nickels on the dollar, quarters on the dollar, even 99 cents on the dollar. Friana Sedetta Cumpo.
Now his value May not be what it would have been a couple of years ago with more injuries and getting older. And you know, this big Supermax contract. But he's still a guy who's going to command like. I'm seeing these other trades in the league. Mikal Bridges, five picks.
Desmond Bain, four first-rounders, the Go Bear trade. You can't have all that stuff happen. And then when it comes time to trade Giannis, as the media has been asking the Bucs to do for more than a decade, oh, just a couple of, you know, a first round or a swap and four fifths or four seconds. You need value, you need return. Really terrible conversation happening throughout NBA media today about, oh, just do a Jalen Brown for Yannis Edeta Kumpo swap.
Well, yeah, if you're the Celtics. You always want to be on the receiving end of an imbalanced trade, of course. But then the media's peddling that, and then they're going to make you think that that's fair. Not you, the Bucks fan, but the proverbial NBA dum-dum head. It's like Giannis is this, Giannis is this creature that cannot be in Milwaukee.
You must get him out. He is all-knowing, all-powerful. He's the greatest player ever.
Well, what do you want to trade for him? Oh, fucking jack shit. He sucks. I'll give him a guy that we're tired of anyway. Or let's give them our spare parts.
This is not how it works. I don't understand how nobody's learned their lesson after all this time, but the lesson has not been learned, nor does it appear to be. learned In the meantime.
So that I thought was kind of um Interesting, all that conversation.
So if you're a Bucs fan, Today is a good day. It is a fresh start. It is a new era. It looked nice. All right.
The Bucs get points for. having their press conference behind windows overlooking Lake Michigan on this beautiful May 6th. Right, they get points for that. There's so much unwritten. That it's very hard to judge.
If you want immediate reaction, Good. But then I think, again, the cloud of Giannis. Incomplete. You can't judge what is happening. Because this Giannis question has to be resolved.
And if you're. Hey. Taylor Jenkins is here because Giannis wants him here. They're going to stay. I certainly don't think Taylor Jenkins is.
Going to push Giannis out the door, and he'd probably prefer to coach him rather than not. At one point, he said, I love our team's depth. I think He was looking at the 2018 roster. that he was a part of. Or maybe he's just really trying to uh play nice to Cormac Ryan.
But there's so much left to be said about what's going on with the Bucks. Because of this big cloud. That does hang over the organization, that is Giannis. If you want a quick resolution, It does look like that is where it's headed. If you want the resolution where Giannis is a buck, Haslam's words.
Might make you uneasy. On that. And then There's still the fan reaction, or what we think. I want Giannis to stay. I'll be bummed if he leaves.
I want him to stay. I think they have a better chance to win with him and spare parts. Then they do Jalen Brown. in anybody else. The Giannis is their best ticket to win another championship.
I don't think that they are going to get the package. That would boost them back up. And I don't think they're going to. I don't think they're going to get a package. That's going to be an immediate turnaround, or even be one that's fair for Giannis.
I don't think they'll make a dollar-for-dollar trade. I do think they'll have to make 90 cents on the dollar. I just I think the way that You know, this Jalen Brown for Giannis thing. It's not an unintentional, like, let's kill a segment on first take. This is the NBA media at work.
Sorry to be a conspiracy guy, but this is the NBA media at work devaluing him.
So, the teams can then act appropriately. They're trying to get him out of Milwaukee. They're trying to get him out. They've been trying. They're going to keep trying.
He signs a super max that's not going to go away. Kevin Durant signed a big contract with the Nets. He was trade a year later. He's going to be on his fourth different team since then. It seems like if he moves again.
So they're not going to stop. But they are, I think, trying to push. Bush. You can't get in front of the river. But they are trying to push the river to flow a different way.
and have Yanis traded.
So again, just that overarching question of Giannis. They did their best to ask questions about. Non-Giannis related, and specifically Taylor Jenkins-related things. But this was a press conference overshadowed. By Yannis Adetta Cumpo.
As much as the guys didn't want it to be, they knew it was going to. Jenkins, for what it's worth, says he has talked with Giannis. Congratulations. were exchanged. But I don't I don't know that You know, he's already said, all right, Giannis, our first practice is October 19th.
I want you there at 9 a.m. Because we still do not know. what is going to happen and it will be And interesting. Summer. There.

Happyplacehemp.com promo code BART here on the Dan Shaney YouTube stream, and brought to you by Carl's place. Brewers, a quick note on them. And then this is exciting. I'm going to apply for.
A job. My old job. Stick around. Um Brewers get the win in St. Louis.
On Wednesday, they had lost on Monday. Weird series because it was a Monday night game, and then Tuesday was. Delayed until July. going to be a double header on let me check a random tuesday in july And then today's game, good to see them hit a home run again for once. Andrew Vaughan, this was a 4-0 game in the first, and this was one of those games where you knew it was over.
And, like, the maybe the Cardinals would scratch a couple, they did. Maybe the Brewers would get a couple more they did. But this was, I mean, this is one of these early games. Oh, this is how it's going to go. Brewers got some guys on base.
Andrew Vaughan bought him home. Good to see him back, and good to see him. with the uh home run. here today. Jackson Churio was batting a thousand on the season.
That will not continue, but he is at 2 for 5, batting 667.
So very good. I don't believe he's a qualified batter, but among The league leaders at this point.
Now, the Brewers have off again.
So the plan was, and Tim Dillard did a really good job of this. On the broadcast, he's like. Brandon Sproke probably could go along today. But they don't need him to, and they shouldn't have him go long today.
So he went his four innings, gave up the one hit. And then it was a pretty bullpen heavy day because they didn't pitch last night. And then they'll have the day off again. on Thursday before they pick up the series with the Yankees. coming out this weekend.
Very interested in this series. I think this is one of these series that. You know, baseball in April, a lot of us are kind of following it, but there's also a lot of people that. You know, it's a busy time of year, a lot of school going on, games, kids, sports. Mother's Day, but this series is going to okay, Brewers are playing.
All right, we need to check them out. How are they doing? The whole NL Central again, still over 500. Very good division. Milwaukee at the bottom of that.
Even though they're above 500, but they're doing very well, I guess, relatively speaking. Um But yeah, the Yankees are coming to down to town. And that that's going to be a big deal. I think tickets are going to be hard to come by. I sat really good tickets by the visitor dugout the other day for a Diamondbacks game midweek.
for like 45 bucks. Those same seats, if I were to try to get them. 'Cause they go for like a buck thirty season ticket, I think. That's why I never buy season tickets. But if I wanted to sit there for the game coming up.
The seats I had that night. Oh yeah, 160. And they're not even as good.
So that's four times the value. I should have bought tickets for that Rockies game. God. A Rockies game, three o'clock on a Friday in the summer. Why are they doing that?
Because, of course, they were going to have another. Last year was the 25th anniversary of. Miller Park.
Now, apparently, this is the 25th anniversary of American Family Field. I don't know how they finagled that one. But they uh But they did. Kids home sick today. I'm a little under the weather, so it's going to be a short one.
I am going to apply for my job, though. I did this this morning. I haven't heard the, I haven't got a rejection letter yet.
Somehow I feel like. I'm going to get in trouble for applying. Yeah. Somehow I feel like only I could figure out a way to make that happen. Yeah, we'll see if it does, but that Will take place coming up next.
This is again into the Winklerverse. Hello, I'm Bart Winkler. I've been a radio professional for 15 plus years. And I've had stops at the Infinity Sports Network, formerly CBS Sports Radio, and also in Milwaukee at WSSP 12:50 a.m. and 105.7 FM.
The fan. I'm currently out of work. I used to work for the fan. But I'm currently out of work and I got a email. In my indeed.
Profile that there is a job available. As I'll show you here. At um Odyssey. Where I used to work. It says, with 15 years in media and a track record in broadcasting, your background could make you a great fit for this part-time producer role.
At Odyssey.
So I'm going to apply to that. And let me say this first. As I try to apply to a station. Where I used to work at, because there are certain people. Maybe one, maybe two, maybe three in specific that think that what I'm doing right now is abhorrent.
That it is just, it is the lowest of the low what I'm doing. And that is their prerogative. And also, that's their opinion. Skewed. as it may be i am an out of work broadcaster who got an email.
That said there is a job available at a place I used to work. I'm clearly qualified to work there, so I'm going to apply for it.
Now coincidentally. I am wearing. A shirt. Of when I used to work at 1057 FM the fan. Total coincidence.
Total coincidence because I was given this article of clothing, and it is my right to wear it as much as I please. And I was wearing it around the house. I thought I would apply, and I thought I would, this was all happenstance.
So I'm recording this. For a couple of reasons. First of all, I wanna take you through the process and we'll see how qualified I may or may not be. And second, I'm gonna put this as audio. on a podcast, and then I'm just gonna let it be.
And then I'm going to share it as video later in the week. My guess is: as audio, nothing will happen, no one will care. But then, when the video is released, suddenly it may make a storm.
Now, maybe I'm not as important as I think, or I'm just, you know, I'm way off base. But the point is, when I do things on audio, No one cares when I do things on video, people get offended, or when I do things on Twitter, people get offended because the audio platform, which many of you are on right now, They don't care about you. People are not being hired and fired based on video. Or they are based on video and Twitter, not on audio.
So I'm going to put this out as an audio part of my podcast. And then I'm gonna put out the video, and then I'm sure I will make someone mad for doing a very simple thing. as applying To an old job, which I have every right to do, as I am unemployed. and qualified.
Now, you may say, well, if you want to work there again, Bart. You know people there. Why don't you just give them a call and say, hey, could I have a job? I don't want to do it that way. I want to do things based on merit.
I live in a meritocracy, or at least. That's how I want to live. If I'm qualified, I will get a job. If I'm not qualified, I will not get a job. That's how I want to do things.
going forward.
So I'm going to go to the website. And I'm going to apply at careers dash odyssey dot a hundred million other things slash backslash Equal space indeed. The site won't load because. You know, things need to be as difficult as possible. Let me give it a quick refresh.
And we'll see where we go from there. But I have to assume, and I've got a resume ready and everything else, that not only is my background enough to at least get a phone interview. But also the familiarity I have with the market. And the station itself. should lead me to some sort of uh prosperity moving forward with this Endeavor.
This is a part-time producer job. That was available. On Indeed to anyone that wants to apply. And that's what I'm going to be applying to. I'm not looking to take over anyone's shows.
I'm not looking to come in there and have the show that I used to. I'm looking for a part time producer job. Maybe come in some late night, do some brewers' posts, maybe help fill in during the week or on the weekends or what have it be. But I am looking for this kind of job. This kind of job is available.
I am uh qualified for it so I'm going to attempt to Apply. the job. All right, I had to pause this for 30 minutes of real time. While this was loading, but there's the job: part-time producer, USAWI Hails Corner. It's actually inhales corners.
