It is! The JR Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I am coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Much love and many thanks to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America.
There's something big going on here in Atlanta. Man, man, in about 90 minutes we're going to have to kick off to the college football national championship, the Ohio State University in Notre Dame. Yeah, we're going to keep you up to date on the game before and during. Well, not after. I'll be gone by then. But we got a lot to get into.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer holding it down in New York City, Jack Cardy. And of course, we have a lot to discuss. The Chicago Bears have a new head coach. We had some amazing football this weekend and a divisional round of the NFL playoffs. We got some upset fans.
Sorry, Detroit. Upset for a million reasons. We got some upset Raven fans. We have some Buffalo Bills fans who just absolutely have to be thrilled with what they saw. The Chiefs continue to roll on.
Man, we gonna keep rolling. I like the music. Jack, let the music play. I love it.
There we go. Get some energy on a Monday. Listen, if you want to be a part of the show, it's simple. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. You can find me online. I am everywhere at J.R. Sportbrief. Hey, we got some guests coming up. He's here in Atlanta with me.
Well, not physically, but down the road. Ryan Hickey is here in Atlanta. We're going to talk to Ryan, our producer, in about 20 minutes as he is at Mercedes Benz Stadium, home of the national championship.
OK, get his on site thoughts about what he is seeing, what the vibe is. We'll do that. How about this next hour to the disappointment of Raven fans? We're going to have a chat with Cordell Woodland, one of five seven, the fan in Baltimore. I want to ask him what the hell happens next with the Ravens. And then a couple hours from now, we'll have a chat with Grant Paulson. Afternoons covers the commanders on one of six seven. The fan in D.C. And so, yeah, we got to talk to them today. There are no more football games. At least for the for the Ravens and then we got Washington.
Oh, my goodness. Jayden Daniels is probably the best, most accomplished rookie quarterback that the NFL has ever seen. He's certainly on his way to it.
Could you imagine if Jayden Daniels ends up starting as a rookie QB in the Super Bowl? Sign me up. Let me know. Thank you to everybody listening on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. You got Sirius XM. It's Channel 375. You got a smart speaker.
Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. I got to start off the show in a few seconds and a few minutes of filling you in on the newest head coach of the Chicago Bears. His name is Ben Johnson.
Before we get into Ben Johnson and think about all the amazing football, the majority of the football was amazing that we saw over the week. I got to ask the producer helping to hold things down while he's here in Atlanta. Hey, Jack, how are you, man? Good to have you back.
J.R., it's always good to be here. Another weekend of college football, NFL playoffs. Exciting weekend. It was awesome, dude.
Yeah, we got a lot of great football. Was there any moment that stood out to you the most from what we saw over the weekend? I mean, I was not expecting the commanders to blow the door open with the Lions like they did on Saturday night. Some questionable calls with the Texans Chiefs game stood out to me a little bit. And then obviously the Mark Andrews drop, the tie at the game right at the end.
That was that was insane. And unfortunately, as a giant fan, commanders, Eagles, NFC championship game. Not exactly too thrilled about that, but winning at the end. Yeah, it was a there's a lot of football. You're running around Saquon in the snow. We'll talk about that. Saquon with those two huge runs to run the Eagles to another NFC championship game.
So we're going to get into all of the games that took place over the weekend. And then we got the Rams, whose season, unfortunately, it just ended. And there's already questions about what happens with Matthew Stafford following his 16th NFL season. I'm not a rocket scientist. I'm not an accountant. I don't know what Matthew Stafford's body feels like, but I believe that he's going to show up next year and collect another check.
That's just me. You got to get as many years and as many paychecks out of football as possible. A lot of things is all about the money.
People got bills to pay. And speaking of bills to pay, this man is not going to have to worry about paying his bills. I think he is quite secure. I think he's going to be quite secure.
And although we do not know the details, it's been reported that the newest head coach of the Chicago Bears is going to make an estimated 15 million dollars a year. His name is Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson.
Yeah. The man who just unfortunately lost in the divisional round of the postseason with the Detroit Lions on Saturday night. That was crazy to watch Washington go out there and beat him. Ben Johnson, who helped lead this team to an NFC title game last year. Unfortunately, yes, Saturday didn't go the way the Lions wanted it to go.
But this year, first in points, second in yards. We thought that that Jared Goff, going from Los Angeles to Detroit, was going to be like the end of his career. He was able to help turn him around. I guess he's not a miracle worker because we saw all the turnovers that, you know, Jared Goff had and it wasn't all that good. But that doesn't take away from the accomplishments of Ben Johnson. This man, did he play in the NFL?
No, he did not. This man was a backup quarterback at North Carolina. He's only 38 years old. And it's one thing to be the guy next to Dan Campbell running the offense with Goff, I'm on Ron St. Brown and Gibbs and Laporta.
I can go on and on. Jamison Williams. It's one thing to have those weapons and be next to Dan Campbell.
It's another thing to have to wake up and be the guy. And so that's the benefit of the season, at least for him, ending for the Detroit Lions and for the Chicago Bears as well. They didn't have to wait a long time to bring this man in.
They didn't have to wait an eternity and have to wait and twiddle their thumbs and think about whether they were going to get this opportunity with Ben Johnson. I can tell you, over the past several seasons, past two years, I've had many callers call me from Michigan. Shout outs to Michigan.
Shout outs to people in Detroit. I've had many callers go, we don't want Ben Johnson to leave. There have been many teams in the NFL who wanted to bring in Ben Johnson, wanted to bring him in and and work his magic. That that same dust that you sprinkled on the football carcass of Jared Goff, sprinkle it on our miserable ass quarterback. And how about this?
Think about this. Ben Johnson is not going to go work for the Raiders and Mark Davis and Tom Brady. Ben Johnson is going to the Chicago Bears, a divisional rival of his former team, the Detroit Lions. Now Ben Johnson is going to be opposing the man who he helped in Dan Campbell. And Dan Campbell talked about how he's now going to have to change and and find, I don't want to say his replacement, but yes, he has to find somebody else who's going to help, quote unquote, not just move the chains, help this team score. Despite the fact that Jared Goff in the big moments can't produce anything, sorry, we'll get more into the Lions and how miserable this is in a while.
But you really think about it. It's not shocking that Ben Johnson, with the options and choices presented to him, he said, I'm going to the Chicago Bears instead of going to the Raiders. Chicago Bears got themselves a quarterback. Chicago Bears have Caleb Williams, who, despite a five and 12 record, a team that a lot of people thought would go out there and at least compete for a wildcard spot. The man threw for 3500 yards, 20 touchdowns, six interceptions, ran himself into a bunch of sacks, 60 plus sacks.
I don't know how this man he's probably still icing his body right now, this minute, this second today. They got weapons, they got Roma doomsday, they got Keenan Allen, they got more. They got they got Swift, DeAndre Swift running the football. They have to fortify the offensive line. You got to teach Caleb Williams to go out there and hey, bro, maybe not trying to turn an easy five yards into 20 and then get sacked. I think they can coach that Adam.
Now, whether or not polls and the McCaskys do him wrong, we'll find out. It seems like an easier job, not easier. It seems like a more understandable job. When you're familiar with the Bears, you play them multiple times a year.
When you understand your organization and by the way, let me say it again. When you have a quarterback, we can think about the Raiders having Tom Brady and his agent, by the way, last week. So Tom Brady is not going to leave broadcasting. He's he's going to do both. He's going to be a part owner and have influence with the Raiders. And then he's going to do a terrible job broadcasting on Fox. Well, that second part I said, lo and behold, the Tom Brady, he can't be there every day, right? He can't have influence over every decision. And I know he's half ass in his TV job because they can't even allow him in multiple buildings or any building, not with the Raiders, because he's an owner. They have parameters there. And so think about this. You got to go to Las Vegas on a day to day basis.
You have to look at Mark Davis, who has the greatest haircut of all time. Google it if you don't know. And then you have to compete in the AFC West. I don't know about that.
Let me see again. Kansas City Chiefs. They're going to the air. They're already in the postseason. Kansas City Chiefs. You have the one you carry the two Kansas City Chiefs are going to their seventh consecutive AFC Championship game. You think about the Chargers. I mean, are they going to choke every year? I don't know. Maybe Harbaugh is going to beat up Herbert. Hey, no more interceptions.
I don't know. Come on. AFC West is.
It's tough. Raiders don't got it easy. I didn't even mention the Broncos with a rookie quarterback with Bo Nix ended up in the postseason.
You stand in the vision. You know what it's like inside with the Lions, right? You just beat the Minnesota Vikings. The Green Bay Packers.
Do they scare you? And let me say this again. The job that he's taking on. They got a quarterback in Caleb Williams. And so one of the hottest coaching candidates that we've seen in the NFL over the past few seasons, one of the hottest coaching candidates who almost has had his pick of the litter. He's going to coach the Bears. And in true social media fashion, Caleb Williams likes the post by the NFL announcing reporting that Ben Johnson is on his way to Chicago. Well, this is better than when he was catfished last week and had to change his number because some five year old kid reached out to him. Sorry, a 15 year old reached out to him and said, Hey, I'm Ben Johnson. I'm going to be a coach.
Well, now it's a reality. He doesn't have to sweat anymore. He has someone who I believe will allow this man to be the first Bears quarterback in all two million years of their existence to throw for more than 4000 yards. Chicago Bears are building something now protect that man.
So that man stopped taking them stupid, ridiculous hits. Congratulations to the Bears. I know there's cautious optimism. Look at look at look at the Lions, right? The Detroit Lions. Look at all the success that they've had over the past few years.
And where's the where's the hardware? Where's the Lombardi Trophy? Oh, it's going to be another year.
Another chance, another opportunity. And there's been teams that have been around longer. It's harder to get to the Ravens. Where's the AFC championship appearance? So the Buffalo Bills? When have they gotten past the Chiefs?
It is not easy. Okay, if you're in the AFC, the NFC, I don't care if you are coming from outer space, it is not easy to win. But Ben Johnson, at least he has some of the elements and the most important element is a quarterback. Hey, good luck to the Chicago Bears and their fans into the Detroit Lions. At least you still got the roster.
The bad part is you still have golf. Sorry, we're gonna talk about Jared Goff later on in the show. We're going to get into, unfortunately, what took place with the Ravens.
We have a lot to do. I told you Cordell Woodland is going to join us from Baltimore. He's going to tell us about the Ravens and what is next for Lamar Jackson. Grant Paulson is going to join us. 1 0 6 7 the fan in D.C. We're going to talk about how amazing Jayden Daniels is. And I guess at this point, yes, it's a reality. We could see him them being the commanders and the Super Bowl.
Somehow, some way the Dodgers got their hands on another expensive good reliever is throwing that money around. We're going to talk about all football. Professional football in the playoffs. We're going to get into that basketball stuff. It's Martin Luther King Day and a bunch of NBA games.
That's all they do all day is play basketball. We have so much to get into. If you want to be a part of the show, it's simple.
8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. You can find me online. I am everywhere at your sport brief. We're going to take a break. And oh, yeah, there's there's more football. Somebody is going to win a trophy tonight here in Atlanta, Georgia. It's the college football playoff finale. We have the Ohio State University and then we have a Notre Dame, two similar teams.
But there is a one major difference. And to talk about it, we're going to have a chat. The producer of this show, Ryan Hickey, is in the stadium right now, this minute, this second. We're going to have a chat with Hickey on the other side of the break. Happy Monday.
I hope you are warm and I hope you warm up. It's the JR Sport Brief Show. The Infinity Sports Network.
Don't move. you you It is the JR sport brief show here with you coast-to-coast on the infinity sports network oh, yeah, we had a crazy weekend of divisional round matchups in the NFL and By the time this evening by the time tonight is done the college football playoff. It's gonna be over It's gonna be a wrap because here in Atlanta, Georgia and a little more than an hour We're gonna have kickoff between Notre Dame in the Ohio State University.
I got no shame in it I believe that Ohio State although these are two teams with amazing defenses They go Ohio State has more talent on offense. I think that's gonna be the Differentiating factor to talk about this game is someone here in Atlanta not with me But right down the road it is Orion Hickey the producer here of the JR sport brief show We're also catching weekends on hick at night Hickey. How are you? What a twist what is going on JR? How are you?
I'm amazing. You're so close, but so far I Know I know this is painful. It's cool to be in your city, but I know it's we are minutes away But it feels like worlds apart. I know how about that?
That's how it is that's how most of my relationships are Hickey a hell of that. You know, that's smart Yeah, how about that? But you are you you are here but first before we you know me and you are talk to you forever, which I do every day What's the vibe like in Mercedes-Benz Stadium? We got a lot of Notre Dame fans in town. We got a lot of Ohio State What was the vibe like inside? Vibe is really good right now about like you said it's about an hour or so away There's a lot of electricity even like all I got in yesterday like I know maybe naturally in social media I've seen a lot of talk today about how there's no buzz to the game Atlantic and poppin there's been fans everywhere you go There's a huge contingent of Ohio State fans a very big contingent Notre Dame fans here as well Way more people in the stadium also I think a lot of people just came if they try to get tickets if not just to be in around the atmosphere But it here is very cool. It is very lively There's a lot of excitement for this big one Ryan Hickey is here with us as he typically is inside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta ahead of the college football championship game But Hickey let me ask you this and I know this the fans for both they travel even if they're not going inside I saw some of the tickets the least expensive ticket might have been I think $3,000 that is not an error Would you say that it's favored or leaning in one direction or is it pretty much equal in regards to the visible ascendance?
It feels pretty equal if there was a lean like 55 45. It does feel like it'd be more, Ohio State They're definitely louder of the two fan bases for sure It feels like the red is also kind of helps stick out a little more So I would say if there has to be like a majority it definitely feels like there's would be a little more Ohio State fans here. Well Hickey when you think about the actual football that we're going to see in about an hour's time We know about the the crazy loss earlier in the season by Notre Dame losing to Northern, Illinois Now 13 straight victories they are rolling Most people are saying that they're the underdog if there can be one. What are your thoughts on Notre Dame's approach to this game? I think the approach has to make it as ugly the game as possible ball control long drives And if you're going to have Ohio State score, it can't be in two or three plays in 45 seconds Do you have to make them go 10 12 14 plays because I think the more possessions the Buckeyes get they have too much talent Especially offensively and Notre Dame made some key injuries on their defensive line I think it's going to make it harder than the get after will Howard especially consistency that depth is not there So they want to win this game.
You got to make it like Michigan when they beat Ohio State a few years ago lower scoring Defensive battle and really grind out possessions on both sides, you know No name is going long drives anything offensively to try to wear down that Ohio State defense I think defensively if no one is going to allow a height to score because the Buckeyes are too talented where they're going to put Up, it feels at least 20 points in the scene bare minimum Even with how good Notre Dame defense is if they're going to get 20 points It has to be on long time-consuming drives the more possessions the Buckeyes get like it easier. It's gonna be for them to score Infinity Sports Network host Ryan Hickey and producer of the share sport reshow is joining us live inside a Mercedes-Benz Stadium Is Ryan Day? Finally gonna get a break if he hoists that championship in about four hours five hours from now I'll answer this.
I hope so. She should you know, there's gonna be a small section of famous You know the lunatics that will tell you to be Michigan this season, you know I would have traded this national title for Michigan, right? There are some psychos like that and every fan base especially Ohio State, but absolutely I mean, I don't know how you feel Jr. I would if you win tonight I will call him the second best coach in college football behind Kirby smart. I'm the guy consistently wins I know right now he's a Michigan problem and that's a big problem But outside of the Wolverines the guy beats everybody else everybody else And so like when you look around and you know Dabo has the rings, but he's kind of falling off Marcus Freeman's on the come-up right, but this is the first time noting He's been there this now at least the second national title appearance for Ryan Day at Ohio State They're in the playoffs constantly like the guy wins 10 11 12 games every single year I mean, it's rare to find that Consistency in college football amongst coaches, especially a lot of them are tiring Absolutely here.
He wins tonight again I struggle to find a coach outside of Kirby smart that you could consider better right now in college football Yeah, I don't yeah, he hasn't coached the game yet Bella check if he doesn't change his mind in the next 48 hours Who knows how that's gonna roll? I know you've had a chance to walk around a Mercedes-Benz Stadium What has stood out to you the most have you had any interesting conversations with other members of the media? I know Ohio State Folks that they're quite proud. I can say that having well, I've been to both campuses. They're both a proud Student bodies. What have you gathered from just the people there? It definitely from the people I talked to it's there's the same question I've just been asking is the same question.
Everyone else is asking. How does Notre Dame score? Oh, yeah, I getting it's a big thing like their defenses Notre Dame defense is very good And again, I think they'll hold their own for the most part But like the question you always look back on is just like how do they score? Can they run the ball and that's what they've been doing most of this year? I would probably say no against this defensive line Ohio State that it's easy the best they face All-season and then it's like, you know, do you trust Wiley Leonard to make? Eight throws. I mean probably at least you know some receivers got open last last time they put against Penn State I would say more about that was on Penn State's coverage bus and Ohio did you so sound all three levels?
That's really a question. I was asking how is Notre Dame going to score and I've Jar, I've not found many answers Are you saying that this is gonna be another one of these college football playoff championship game beatdowns? Are we in store for another one of those? The final score for each I have is 27 13 But even though it's two scores you can say, okay, you got but you know, maybe a late score It feels like Ohio's gonna be control this game the entire game where there's really maybe never a doubt there You know comfortably ahead.
It does feel like Notre Dame will be at arm's length for Almost the entire game. Okay, Ryan Hickey is here with us inside Mercedes-benz Stadium, how do you feel about the stadium? Have you stolen any free food yet? Did you have a $2 hot dog from the cheap concessions? What have you done in there? I have had the media food, which is all I can vouch for right now It's delicious the mac and cheese some of the best I've ever had ribs were very good Arthur blank does a very good job. Gotta get a lot of credit here. He treats the media very well I've not had yet to get a $2 hot dog, but still got an hour so that that could change for sure What I love where I didn't I mean, I guess you could tell a little on TV But you don't realize it till you're here Like the windows are very cool all the natural light that comes in like it does feel like it's in an open-air stadium Even with the roof closed that that's a very nice touch.
Yeah, we when we open our roof the stuff doesn't fall in like a jury's That's good. That's good And I know it is freezing cold in the majority of the country no different here in Atlanta early this morning in The single digits it'll get back to the single digits in a few hours You haven't had a chance to see any bit of the city really have you you did your show here in Atlanta last night? At the stadium today, and you're back in New York tomorrow. No Yeah, I was able to sneak away a little bit this morning to go to the college football Hall of Fame lovely Yeah, very cool first. I've never been there. That was awesome to see a lot of cool artifacts But yeah, that's really I've walked in the Convention Center a little bit just to be able to say I was there I did um well. I guess this is kind of seeing the city I did go to a Hooters in Atlanta yesterday that was fun You went I've ever ever went you went to Hooters on Peachtree Street. I did it.
I did yeah I've never been to one. I wanted some a quick bite to eat before The NFL game started so I don't want to go too far away Oh my I try to go to one place is packed with it. Okay.
Let me just sit up. Okay bar spots open Original chicken sandwich delicious. Oh my good hickey. Do you know? Magic City is Equidistant from the Hooters that you went to from the stadium.
Did you know that? No Yeah, Magic City is very close to the stadium man. You could do you could do the wings at Magic City instead You went to Hooters Well, I mean the good news is I heard that place is open a little bit later.
Maybe than most. Oh, yeah Yeah, maybe after the game if I'm feeling a little hungry still want some good Atlanta wings Listen, they've got a frequent there. You're gonna find a lot of you're gonna find a lot of happy people in in Magic City Win or lose especially the winning team and maybe the losers to people that will be happy Okay, I think we're hard to tell who went to loses. I think if you go in there, you'll have no idea Well, I don't want I guess if you see a tear shed in there.
It will be a happy tear. Okay Hickey thank you so much For for sharing what the hell you see am I missing anything is anything else the listeners should know about the game or the experience there? Um, no, I think you've hit it all so far. Yeah, the stadium is beautiful I definitely put on the bucket list for anyone that's like trying to get a stadium tour very new very modern. Very nice Yeah, I know.
It's I think you hit it all. All right Well, we'll be back. You'll be back in New York with the show tomorrow and I'll be here in Atlanta Still right freezing my ass off. Well, I hope so. I got an alert about some winter weather So as long as Atlanta doesn't let me down here, that will be the plan. I'm looking forward to it Well, I think they are I miss you too, man I'm mad I can I can jog to you, but I got to stand here do the show and you're at the football game Well, I got an extra seat next to me.
So if you can break your way in We get we can watch the second half together. Okay. Well, yeah, you you're eating ribs and mac and cheese. Stay away Talk to you later. All right. Thank you Hickey tell everybody where they can follow you and all your experiences and what-have-you at the game You can follow me twitter ryan underscore hickey and the number three We're actually going live on YouTube after the game still enrolls podcast is odyssey's big time podcast We'll be live from the stadium win or lose breaking all the game down. No, I say no today. I love it I love it.
Hey Hickey. Thank you so much. Enjoy yourself. Have a good time. Enjoy the football I'll talk to you later and then talk to you with the rest of the country tomorrow. Okay? Looking forward to Jerry you the man.
Thank you so much all the time. You are the man that is Ryan Hickey You can hear him weekends here on the Infinity Sports Network. You can hear him throughout the week here with me Producing the JR sport brief a show you can go ahead follow Hickey Ryan underscore Hickey three on social media Yeah, I ain't no different. I look at the they got a 19 year old Ohio State has a 19 year old He just turned 19 in November I'm talking about Jeremiah Smith this man can't even buy a beer good for him Try to stay away as long as you can this man can't buy a beer and in the last game against Texas He had one catch That's it. Yeah one catch the game before that when they wiped out Oregon the guy This 19 year old dude who basically just fell out of high school if you can I guess falling out of high school is better than dropping out. He graduated good for him.
He had 187 yards receiving I'm gonna guess that he falls somewhere in the middle, okay They are going to light them up. I am afraid But I believe by the time I'm standing sitting here back with you tomorrow That we're gonna be talking about an ass-whooping and at least Ryan Day at least Ryan Day Can be happy about something? Because this guy looks he looks like the Jeff Van Gundy of college football he looks like he needs rest a Vacation a massage. It looks like he has been in a dark room with with no light for three years They treat this man bad because he doesn't beat Michigan give Ryan Day a Break and tonight if they win here in Atlanta, Georgia, he will finally get said Break and they will still expect him some will still expect him to break a foot off Let me relax people will still expect him to beat Michigan worry about tonight tonight's the championship I Have Ohio State winning and then I get to I got a look through my Ohio State photos and see What I can post it's the JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network The phone lines are open if you want to give me a holler eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven, that's eight five five two one two forty two 27, of course, we're gonna keep you up to date on tonight's national championship game when they finally kick off We're gonna talk some more NFL a matter of fact when we come back from break Yeah, we open the show filling you in that Ben Johnson is the new head coach of the Chicago Bears well Lions lost on Saturday night We come back on the other side. I got to talk about the other team that lost Last night my apologies to my friends in Baltimore. We have to talk about The Ravens my apologies to Mark Andrews.
He's the one who's really getting beat up It's the JR sport reshow coast to coastal in the infinity sports network You You It is the JR sport reshow here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven, that's eight five five two one two 42 Seven. Thank you again Ryan Hickey From here on the infinity sports network the producer of the JR sport reshow for giving us a live report from inside of Mercedes-benz Stadium here in Atlanta, Georgia We're about an hour away from kickoff between Ohio State and Notre Dame I'm picking Ohio State and I don't want to say run roughshod all over him Notre Dame does have a very good defense, but when it comes to explosive plays, I have no idea Like Hickey said how they gonna keep up I don't expect them to let's ask our producer holding it down doing an amazing job Jack we think about tonight's matchup. Are you leaning Ohio State or are you leaning Notre Dame? So I am I'm honestly I'm rooting for Notre Dame Personally, but I kind of agree with what you and Ryan were saying before it's just Notre Dame has a good defense I think they're gonna keep this game close with Ohio State and maybe the first half but I just think Ohio State's offense is just Significantly better than they are and I think like I said, they're gonna know James defense is gonna keep it close But I think eventually Ohio State's gonna start making some big plays on them and they're gonna kind of start rolling over maybe in the fourth Quarter.
Yeah, these are two of the top defenses in the country But the the offerings are from Ohio State a certainly much different that this is I don't want to say it's similar Not at all similar to the game we had last night, but these are two good teams This is why they're both in a championship last night to close out the divisional round of NFL weekend We saw one hell of a game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills and as I sat here on Friday I said that I expected this game to be close for this game to come down to a missed field goal And it was close. I mean the final score was 27 to 25 and it wasn't so much of that We we saw a missed field goal we saw Mark Andrews drop a two-point conversion that was basically right in his lap and Then even outside of that more importantly we saw a Baltimore team That just turn the ball over three turnovers five penalties Oh must I also remind you Mark Andrews didn't just Drop the two-point conversion. It also apparently missed at an opportunity at an easy touchdown by doing a little bit too much You know juking and then he was basically stripped of the football So Mark Andrews with a big drop also a big fumble and after the game Lamar Jackson made it very clear And this is what I appreciate because he didn't blame anybody and why would he blame Mark Andrews? He's been his most reliable pass catching option pretty much since he's been in the NFL it came in the same time Lamar Jackson says it wasn't just Mark Andrews who lost this game stupid people on the internet.
It was all of us me And Mark Andrews broke his leg last year. He comes back has another solid season I don't even want to call him the safety valve for Lamar Jackson at this stage of his career because Lamar Jackson Keeps getting better and better and better. I mean even yesterday he had 254 yards passing he had two touchdowns, but it was the turnovers. Not only did he fumble the ball himself he had an interception early and the turnovers The drops they all factored in to not being able to win this game This is what coach Harbaugh John Harbaugh had to say about them not holding on to the rock Yeah, Lamar Jackson now has a playoff record of three and five When it comes to facing off against the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs He now has a record of 0-3 in the playoffs Lamar Jackson and talking about the turnovers after the game I mean he had to apologize at one point for his profanity. Listen to this Yeah, not this year next year right this what I'm disappointed about you bring in a guy like Derrick Henry Who was the best running back in the entire NFL this year outside of Saquon Barkley?
We'll talk about Saquon and all his uh, his runs in the snow. We'll get to him But the fact is Henry had 84 yards rushing this season or excuse me yesterday He ain't gonna do nothing but get older Like what what happens as Derrick Henry gets older and ultimately is gone and then you know Lamar Jackson loses his own athleticism as he's still gonna be an amazing quarterback Yeah, but you would have to think that right now he is entering into his prime How long he stays there how long he adjusts is to be seen he is such a dynamic quarterback One of the most dynamic and most unique quarterbacks that we've ever seen and so I've been saying this for weeks One of these guys when I say these guys between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen One of them is gonna walk away with the MVP and one of them might walk away with the Vince Lombardi Trophy well, we know who ain't winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy and that's Lamar Jackson and Someone who might hoist the Vince Lombardi and still has a chance at MVP is Josh Allen and yesterday if you want to talk about how close this game was or the balance Buffalo Only had 273 yards of offense in this game the defense The defense for Buffalo let Baltimore rush for 176 yards and 416 yards overall. Let me say that again Baltimore had 416 yards of offense Buffalo only had 173 so if you want to talk about the turnovers They're not lying Lamar Jackson a line Harbaugh ain't lying. That was the difference maker in Baltimore losing this game. Congratulations to the bills.
I said Friday. I think this is a toss-up It's gonna come down to a play and I said I picked Baltimore because of the rushing attack and yeah for Baltimore What's a hundred and seventy six yards? I mean they bludgeoned teams for 300 They still they still handled business. It's on the rock over and Josh Allen when he spoke to the media That's what he had to say about quote-unquote Outside noise about what we the Buffalo Bills can do You You know what I give him credit on that and it is outside noise It's not internal. It's not what people inside the building is saying but when you lose Stefan digs When you think about a team that is going yeah, I thought that they were gonna take a step back I didn't know that they were gonna be this good I'm not surprised cuz you still have Josh Allen But I ultimately did not expect them to be as good as they have in past years What they were expected to be Super Bowl contenders what they were expected or at least Josh Allen was expected to win an MVP And here they are this year back in a familiar position Back in the postseason against the Kansas City Chiefs a team that has told them goodbye and good riddance Three out of the last four times that they have met in the postseason If you're the Buffalo Bills you want some sweet revenge, don't you you want to send Patrick my home's home? You want to tell Andy Reid who cares about your victories in your Hawaiian shirts go put a Hawaiian shirt on because you're on vacation It's what Josh Allen had to say about moving ahead to the championship game You Yeah, you got a win, but will they won by two and then that is such a Larry's place Mark Andrews drops that two-point conversion and I mean people are killing them And I get it and I understand and by the way mark Andrews did not talk to the media after the game last night I can certainly understand why and he could have if he wanted to Is a what have you done for me lately world Then there was the fumble to by the way Nobody's gonna point at Lamar because you know Lamar got them down the end of the field You expect the quarterback to fumble the ball and turn the ball over intercept the ball This is one of the best teams in the league. Oh Yeah, by the way Think about Josh Allen he didn't turn the ball over They did it was why they won better luck next year to the Ravens.
It's unfortunate I want to eventually see Lamar get a ring I want to see Josh Allen get a ring and I don't give a damn what order it comes in I want to see Patrick my home's get a three-peat too, but I want to see the wealth being spread around That's just me. Nice guy still in the holiday spirit, even though the holidays over back to being a Grinch It's the JR sport brie show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. We're gonna take a break when we come back.
How about this? This is another team won't get a chance to win anything It's the Lions. They lost Ben Johnson today. They lost on Saturday.
We'll talk about them It's the JR sport brie show the infinity sports network. Don't move You You It is the JR sport brie show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27, that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 thank you again Ryan Hickey From here on the infinity sports network the producer of the JR sport brie show for giving us a live report from inside of Mercedes-benz Stadium here in Atlanta, Georgia We're about an hour away from kickoff between Ohio State and Notre Dame I am picking Ohio State and I don't want to say run roughshod all over him Notre Dame does have a very good defense, but when it comes to explosive plays, I have no idea like Hickey said How are they gonna keep up? I Don't expect them to let's ask our producer holding it down doing an amazing job Jack when you think about tonight's matchup, are you leaning Ohio State or are you leaning Notre Dame?
So I am I'm honestly I'm rooting for Notre Dame Personally, but I kind of agree with what you and Ryan were saying before. It's just Notre Dame has a good defense I think they're gonna keep this game close with Ohio State and maybe the first half But I just think Ohio State's offense is just significantly better than they are And I think like I said, they're gonna know James defense is gonna keep it close But I think eventually Ohio State's gonna start making some big plays on them and they're gonna kind of start rolling over and maybe in The fourth quarter. Yeah, these are two of the top defenses in the country But the the offerings are from Ohio State are certainly much different This is I don't want to say it's similar not at all similar to the game We had last night, but these are two good teams This is why they're both in a championship last night to close out the divisional round of NFL weekend We saw one hell of a game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills and as I sat here on Friday I said that I expected this game to be close for this game to come down to a missed field goal And it was close.
I mean the final score was 27 to 25 and it wasn't so much of that. We we saw a missed field goal We saw Mark Andrews drop a two-point conversion That was basically right in his lap and then even outside of that more importantly we saw a Baltimore team That just turn the ball over three turnovers five penalties Oh must I also remind you Mark Andrews didn't just Drop the two-point conversion. It was all of us me I'm just as hurt as Mark, you know, I don't Know his fault like all of us played a pattern in the game. You know, it's a team effort I just not gonna not gonna put that on Marco cuz he'd been battling all season. He'd been doing all the great things He's we're doing all season It don't always go our way we wanted to but at the wrong time it's like it's not going our way We need to figure that out And Mark Andrews broke his leg last year.
He comes back has another solid season I don't even want to call him the safety valve for Lamar Jackson at this stage of his career because Lamar Jackson Keeps getting better and better and better. I mean even yesterday He had 254 yards passing he had two touchdowns, but it was the turnovers Not only did he fumble the ball himself he had an interception early and the turnovers the The drops they all factored in to not being able to win this game This is what coach Harbaugh John Harbaugh had to say about them not holding on to the rock We have not been a team that turns the ball over. I'm proud of our guys We did a great job with that all year. We did turn it over this game But you know, you got to try to go make the next this next score in the next play That's that's what you that's what I judge it on and we look at ball security we look at all the details and techniques and certain things like that, of course, but But really the mark is if you want to make a judgment you want to make an evaluation That's what you make it on.
Yeah, Lamar Jackson now has a playoff record of three and five When it comes to facing off against the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs He now has a record of 0 and 3 in the playoffs Lamar Jackson and talking about the turnovers after the game I mean he had to apologize at one point for his profanity. Listen to this Ted the ball Like protect the ball. We was driving. But like I said, we was driving the boss move all game I don't even think we punted tonight. It was a three-turn that was got us off the field So we protect the ball.
We're not even having these conversations. You guys don't even have those type of questions for me you know, we got to do a better job at protecting that ball and Be out with men right track Yeah, not that this year next year, right? This is what I'm disappointed about you bring in a guy like Derrick Henry Who was the best running back in the entire NFL this year outside of Saquon Barkley? We'll talk about Saquon and all his uh, his runs in the snow.
We'll get to him But the fact is Henry had 84 yards rushing this season or excuse me yesterday He ain't gonna do nothing but get older like what what happens as Derrick Henry gets older and ultimately is gone and then you know Lamar Jackson loses his own Athleticism now is he still gonna be an amazing quarterback? Yeah, but you would have to think that right now He is entering into his prime how long he stays there how long he adjusts is To be seen he is such a dynamic quarterback One of the most dynamic and most unique quarterbacks that we've ever seen and so I've been saying this for weeks One of these guys when I say these guys between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen One of them is gonna walk away with the MVP and one of them might walk away with the Vince Lombardi Trophy Well, we know who ain't winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy and that's Lamar Jackson and someone who might hoist the Vince Lombardi It still has a chance at MVP is Josh Allen and yesterday if you want to talk about how close this game was or the balance Buffalo only had 273 yards of offense in this game the defense The defense for Buffalo let Baltimore rush for 176 yards and 416 yards overall, let me say that again Baltimore had 416 yards of offense Buffalo only had 273 so if you want to talk about the turnovers They're not lying Lamar Jackson a line How about a line that was the difference maker in Baltimore losing this game? I mean a bludgeon seems for 300 They still they still handled business. It's on the rock over and Josh Allen when he spoke to the media It's what he had to say about quote-unquote Outside noise about what we the Buffalo Bills can do everyone was saying this and that about us and we didn't have enough talent weren't good enough to be in these positions and Our guys just continue to work hard and we're internally driven We love each other and I think you saw how much we played for each other there You know what? I give him credit on that and it is outside noise It's not internal is not what people inside the building is saying but when you lose Stefan Diggs When you think about a team that is going yeah, I thought that they were gonna take a step back I didn't know that they were gonna be this good I'm not surprised cuz you still have Josh Allen But I ultimately did not expect them to be as good as they have in past years What they were expected to be Super Bowl contenders what they were expected or at least Josh Allen was expected to win an MVP And here they are this year Back in a familiar position Back in the postseason against the Kansas City Chiefs a Team that has told them goodbye and good riddance Three out of the last four times that they have met in the postseason If you're the Buffalo Bills you want some sweet revenge, don't you you want to send Patrick my home's home? You want to tell Andy Reid who cares about your victories in your Hawaiian shirts go put a Hawaiian shirt on because you're on vacation That's what Josh Allen had to say about moving ahead to the championship game That's what we've worked for is an opportunity to play another week You know, we don't want our our season to end on a loss and this gives us an opportunity to keep going But we'll enjoy this one You know a lot to learn from from this one. Obviously wasn't wasn't pretty but these These playoff games. All right, you gotta win by one.
That's all that matters. Yeah, you got a win, but will they won by two? And then that is such a Larry's place Mark Andrews drops that two-point conversion and People are killing them And I get it and I understand and by the way Mark Andrews did not talk to the media after the game last night I can certainly understand why and he could have if he wanted to is a what have you done for me lately world? Then there was the fumble to by the way Nobody's gonna point at Lamar because you know Lamar got them down the end of the field You expect the quarterback to fumble the ball and turn the ball over intercept the ball. This is one of the best teams in the league Well, yeah, by the way I think about Josh Allen. He didn't turn the ball over They did it was why they won better luck next year to the Ravens. It's unfortunate I want to eventually see Lamar get a ring I want to see Josh Allen get a ring and I don't give a damn what order it comes in I want to see Patrick Mahomes get a 3p2, but I want to see the wealth being spread around That's just me nice guy still in the holiday spirit even though the holidays over back to being a Grinch It's the JR sport brie show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27, that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 We're gonna take a break when we come back.
