In a few hours, we're going to learn who's going to advance to the national championship because minutes ago, down in Miami, Florida, the Orange Bowl, Notre Dame and Penn State got underway. As of right now, they still don't have a score. I think we can expect this for quite some time. I don't think anybody's looking at this matchup as some type of shootout.
I highly doubt that. Thank you so much to our guest in the last hour for coming through and joining us. Ralph Russo covers all things college football on the national level for the athletic. He came by and gave us his thoughts, his ultimate thought is that Ohio State is going to win the national championship.
If you missed that conversation with Ralph, you can go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. We also learned minutes ago, the NFL putting out a statement letting everyone know that Monday night's football game, Monday night's football game, a playoff game, a matter of fact, between the Rams and the Vikings, it is not going to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Due to the wildfires, this game is being relocated to State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals. So wildfires are taking a toll not just on the community, but on the sports world as well. And sports certainly has to take a backseat to humanity. But they're going to go ahead and move that game out to Arizona and no longer in Los Angeles County, no longer in Inglewood.
So Minnesota Vikings Rams Monday Night Football won't be in Inglewood. Hopefully the fires will have subsided by then. Hopefully there's some type of progress.
We can only hope and pray in that regard. If you want to be a part of the show, you can. The phone number here is 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. You can find me online. I'm on the Internet. I am everywhere.
I am at JR Sport Breeze. So much that we that we've discussed. Give you an update. I've given you an update right now on wildfires, the Lakers and Hornets game that was canceled. We talked about how ridiculous the Raiders are days after two days after firing their head coach and Antonio Pierce. The Raiders fired their GM Tom Telesco after one season. You bring on a GM for one year and then you fire him. I guess that's what happens when you hire Tom Brady. You just make all the decisions that you want. The Falcons said that they are very comfortable with Kirk Cousins as their backup.
I think that is a load of BS. I think Kirk Cousins is I think is well known. He's probably going to want to leave so he can go elsewhere and say, why would he want to sit around as a backup?
I have no idea. We also learned today that Carson Beck, the starting quarterback the past two seasons for the University of Georgia, the Bulldogs, he's entering into the transfer portal. It was only a few weeks ago, not even a few weeks ago at this point, like a month ago. This man tore the UCL in his arm, was unavailable for their college football playoff game against Notre Dame. And now he's entering into the transfer portal. This is the same Carson Beck who went through a stretch with the Georgia Bulldogs where he could not throw the football to the right team that he went through a stretch where I looked at him and plenty of other people looked at Carson Beck and said, if the Georgia Bulldogs don't win a championship is going to be because of him not being able to hold on to the football.
Well, lo and behold, he wasn't even healthy enough to play. And now he's moving elsewhere. And you want to know what this screams?
NIL, money, getting the check, moving on to the next thing. Cam Ward is moving on. Cam Ward is going to the NFL. This man's going to the draft. Somebody's going to select him. He's going to be a top two.
I don't even want to say three. This man's going to be a top two pick. He might be the first quarterback selected in the draft. Carson Beck. Come on, man. If he went into the NFL draft, where would he go? I don't even know.
Third round, fourth round. Would it be worth it to even think about? Carson Beck is better off staying in college, making more NIL money and then getting drafted. He might as well use up all of his eligibility, make that cash, get that money, try to improve his draft stock to try to make more money. As simple as that. So I don't blame Carson Beck.
If he could be half as good as Cam Ward was down in Miami and Carson Beck is, uh, he's going to improve his draft stock and get some cash while he is at it. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Dave is here from Queens. You're on the JR Sport. Please show us up, Dave. JR, thanks.
Okay. I just shut the TV's volume down. I'm watching this Penn State game and I'm going to listen to your show. Like I've been listening to your show and listening to the game. Their volume is down because those announcers are terrible. I don't even know who they are.
That's my bad for not knowing the names. Your show is on in my house with the volume and I'm watching on the stream and I'm watching the game with no sound. Great. You know what I mean? The Penn State guy catches the ball. Fair catches it at the one, which is like football, like the worst football move you can do. Run away from the ball. And then like he catches it at the one or proud. And the thing is the announcers, they don't even say nothing.
They just say he caught it. Well Dave, one thing that I cannot do live on the radio is A, watch a football game. B, fully analyze a football game. And then C or 3, the third thing, analyze the commentary on said game while I'm talking in the studio. So you're doing your job professional the way you are. I'm over here telling you, I'm here to tell you the volume is off because they're useless.
That's just telling you about that play. It's a waste of time the announcers. Okay. Number two, I'm listening to you all the time anyway, but it was just interfering. Their noise was interfering with your show. It's better this way. I'm glad it occurred.
My other thing is Kawhi Leonard. Okay. We know your family is probably in danger as everybody's family in LA. How many people live there?
20 million people. The thing is he just, he's out, he's out of the team now. He just, he said, you know, when I'm out, I'm going to be with my family. I mean, yo, relocate your family, Kawhi. We love, everyone loves their family, but we know your family is not in, is like not hanging off a cliff here. They're going to be okay.
You're going to be able to take care of them. You know, we don't see that. That's difficult to say though, Dave.
Yeah, but it's Kawhi Leonard. No, we don't know. We don't know.
We don't know the intricacies. I didn't hear this family. I'm sorry. I'm not arguing. No, but that's, that's why I don't think it's fair to jump to conclusions. I mean, I don't, I don't know.
I don't know who's to say somebody in his, in his household doesn't have emphysema. I don't know, but we don't know the details. So I don't think it's fair to speculate. Okay.
Jay, I'll be taught on that. Okay. You know what? We don't know. You know what?
I don't know you had for dinner, but I'm sure your belly's full. This is the thing. Okay.
I don't know. You're right. So if that could be used in everything in life, I don't know what my wife's doing right now, but I'm confident she's doing well. The thing is, okay. That's my opinion on Kawhi Leonard. I'm going to, I'm going to say, I hope his family's healthy.
I hope so too. Okay. I like Kawhi Leonard. You know what? I, you know what I say this Jayar? Because I want to see Kawhi Leonard. Forget the fires.
Let's say the world was peaceful. Oh, well, no, well we can't forget Dave. No, let me just say my point Jayar. No, wait, no, wait. No, no. You've said a lot Dave. I know. I know. You've said a lot. So I need you to listen.
I will. We have, we have to face reality. You know, I'd love to see Kawhi Leonard too. I wish that there were no fires. I wish Kawhi had two healthy knees and a quad and a hamstring, but that's not reality.
The reality is, is that in California, yes, there are fires and whether or not you happen to be Kawhi Leonard or you happen to be Kawhi, the gas station attendant, people's lives are here. And so I'm not going to put, I'm not going to think about, I apologize. You don't got to apologize. I just don't want to be clicked cause I want to retort. Okay.
No, no, I'm just, I'm putting you on hold because I need to talk uninterrupted. You can retort, but there comes a point in time where being entertained has to take a backseat to people's lives. I don't have to think about what Kawhi Leonard is going through or that he's Kawhi Leonard. So of course he has plenty of money so he could put his family in a sprinter van and just say, Hey, just go hang out in Scottsdale for a couple of months.
We don't know the details. I mean, we learned today that JJ Reddick lost his house. I don't care if JJ Reddick played at Duke. I don't care if he was an NBA player.
I don't care if he made millions of dollars. The guy's house is gone. His family was in that house. I'm sure that he cares about the house because he bought it.
I'm sure it's a pain in the ass dealing with insurance and finding a new house and thinking about where his kids are going to go to school and where his family is going to live and how they're going to pay for that. Like you can still have a lot of money and be a human being. You know, money can help a lot of your problems, but money doesn't erase everything. And in some cases money causes more. This man already has a high profile, high stress job. He's still a human being and yet he can wake up and look at his bank account and wipe his tears, but he's still a human. And I don't care who you are and how much money you have. Looking at you and your possessions and your life being altered because of fire or water or a natural disaster or a disaster of any kind.
It's not easy. And so you might want to see Kawhi Leonard. Now, when I first saw that Kawhi was going to be unavailable, I rolled my eyes and go, this man just came back and played a game. And now you mean to tell me he's hurt again?
And they said he's stepping away from the team to be with his family. I can't knock him. I can't make a joke about his bad knee. I can't. He's from the area.
Guy's from California. Man's playing at home. Sure he got family and friends all up to play. There's something comes a point in time when things are bigger than your entertainment. It's just as simple as that.
But I guess maybe we should just, you know, pretend and act like things are all great and perfect in the world. No, not gonna. Bigger things. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Nico, that was interesting. I don't know if I accidentally lit myself on fire here in the studio. Should I continue on doing the show? I would hope you don't.
You got to get some get to the hospital. I'm looking at the fire extinguisher right here. Maybe I should maybe I should utilize that if I were to light myself on fire. That was and I get it.
There's people think money fixes everything. It's a fire, Nico. Like what does he want from Kawhi? Yeah, I don't know where he was trying to go with that. I mean, I guess I understand it a little bit, but he's we love sports and I understand that it's it's, you know, without sports, I guess we wouldn't be sitting here talking, right? But there comes a point where you got to put the safety and health above all.
I mean, his point was it's Kawhi Leonard. He can just, you know, put his family in the greatest hotel in middle America. He doesn't have to worry about the fires, but these human beings, too, man, like if his family a fire like I don't I'm not trying to get extreme here. But imagine you getting a call, you at work and you're you're in a different city and they're calling you and they go, hey, you know, there's fires here and you're like, oh, my God.
And, man, I would say screw the Clippers, too. Imagine getting a phone call your mother, your sister, your brother. Hey, we're here at the house and there's fires and we don't know what to do. And I don't even want to think about that. I think I think is if you've been around long enough. I think a lot of us at some point in life have gotten a call, a call from somebody that you didn't want at an hour and a time that you didn't want or you didn't expect. The phone rang from someone who typically wouldn't call you at a time.
And you just go, oh, my God, what the hell is this going to be about? That's that's being a human. Not just just being an entertainer.
So just please, as the NFL is moving a game from Los Angeles to a Scottsdale, Arizona, as the Lakers are canceling games and the Kings are canceling games and as Los Angeles is burning. As a sports fan, as a human being. Just try. Try. Try to have a little bit of empathy. Try. The JR sport we show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
855-212-4227. We're going to take a break. And speaking of family and empathy, when we come back on the other side. We need to have a chat or we need to listen to someone who is putting family first.
He's putting family first so much that he is saying family is one of the reasons that he would change his occupation in sports. I'm going to tell you who it is on the other side. It's the JR sport we show coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. It is the JR sport we show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. College football playoffs semifinal matchup between Penn State and Notre Dame has yet to yield the score. No score, nothing. It is still 0-0. Notre Dame, apparently, they're reviewing. It's no longer the interception. Penn State is in the red zone here trying to punch it in and get a score up on the board. And they're stopped here first and goal. So we'll keep you up to date on this game as things continue on. Getting ready to close out the first quarter. Penn State is threatening here in the red zone. 855-212-4227.
It's 855-212-4227. Right before we went to break, we were talking about some of the consequences of the wildfires that we have out in California. The NFL has decided to move the playoff game between the Vikings and the Rams that was scheduled for Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Englewood. It's been moved out to Glendale, Arizona, home of the Arizona Cardinals and State Farm Stadium. Talked about the impact that it's had on basketball. It appears and it's been reported that JJ Reddick has lost his home in the Pacific Palisades. And then as one of our callers had brought to our attention as well, Kawhi Leonard stepped away from the team.
And I said, you know what, there comes a point in time where we just got to take a backseat. That's it. Sports is fun.
It's great. It's going to go on. It's a business.
It is not going to stop. But we have to have empathy for the athletes and their situations and everybody's situation is different. So there's no reason to judge what one guy or a woman or athlete does versus anybody else is no different than what happens in somebody else's house. You know, personal matters like this are personal matters.
And, you know, in certain regards, personal matters can be very public, especially when it comes down to family. And there is no bigger instance of this currently in sports, I'd say. Then the Sanders family, we got famous sports families. Of course, the Mannings big time quarterbacks out of Louisiana. Man, we got Eli Manning, who's now eligible to go out here and be a Hall of Famer. He's on his way to the damn Hall of Fame, I think.
And then you look on the other hand. We got the Sanders family. Nobody more polarizing and charismatic than Deion Sanders, the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. And since this man has gone to Colorado, he basically turned a train wreck completely around last year. So much pomp and circumstance and excitement for them to finish four and eight. This year, the Colorado Buffaloes turn things around and even make it to a bowl game out in San Antonio.
They did not win it. But you got Travis Hunter, who's the best player in college football, just won the Heisman, the best player in the draft, probably not going to be selected number one overall. But then you have a quarterback and his son, Shador Sanders, who's going to be battling it out for which QB gets selected first. Is it him? Is it Cam Ward? Is Drew Alla going to enter into the space by the time we finish with the playoff?
I don't think so. But that's the way things are looking right now. And so there have been so many conversations with Shador Sanders moving on and Travis Hunter moving on. I don't care who Deion is getting into the transfer portal to replace his son and Travis.
There's no replacing Travis. It's been bandied about that Deion at some point might go to the NFL to coach. He's gone from Jackson State to Boulder. You know, is he going to coach the Dallas Cowboys? Is he going to Vegas to coach the Raiders and maybe coach his son Shador if the Raiders can get him?
They select six, probably not. We've heard Deion say that he's not moving from Boulder, that he's going to stick around. But there's not a circumstance that he would wake up and just say, I'm out of here. I'm leaving Colorado and I'm going to coach in the NFL.
He's also said in the past. I don't want to coach these NFL guys. I don't want to coach these these millionaires that don't listen.
I want to have some influence on people at the college level, even though colleges turn very much so professional. Deion said that out of his own mouth. Well, yesterday, Deion Sanders was on Good Morning America. And he was pretty much asked the same thing. Deion was asked, are you sure you're never going to coach in the NFL? Listen to what Deion said in response. The only way I would consider is to coach my son. Not son, son. OK, I think we're going to go viral with that.
So that's not a no. Well, I love Colorado. I love my buffaloes. I love everything that we're building. I love everything that we're doing. And I love Boulder, Colorado.
I do. OK. Deion has now put a little a. Put a little possibility out there that he might move.
Now, what's the possibility of this happening? You'd have to coach both Chador and Shiloh. I know at one point in time he said Travis Hunter is like a son. I don't I don't expect Travis Hunter and in Chador, the quarterback, to be on the same team.
But then if we think even even broader than that. If I'm a team, why why do I want to do that? What so is Deion Sanders like a stopgap here? I'm going to bring on Deion Sanders to coach my team while we develop his son at quarterback, probably, and then just have Shiloh on the team. So what happens if Shiloh is not on the team the next year? Deion's now going to leave or was one year good enough for Deion?
It's a lot of pie in the sky. I don't think Deion is leaving for the reasons that he told us months ago, years ago. I don't want to coach in the NFL.
We had this conversation. People are saying, oh, Deion could go to the Cowboys and Deion could work for Jerry Jones. Why would he want to work for Jerry Jones?
Why would he want the stress? Deion is big cheese in Boulder, Colorado. Why would he want to work under Jerry Jones, who's not big cheese, but just delusional? We had Jerry Jones talking to the media this week, and Jerry Jones said, I didn't buy the Dallas Cowboys as some type of investment. I bought the occupation to run a football team. So this is just like a fantasy for Jerry Jones.
That gets in fires. Tom Landry's got Mike McCarthy twisted in the wind. Why in the hell would Deion Sanders want a part of any of this? And even if we think Deion Sanders going to the Raiders, why, why would he want to work, quote unquote, for Tom Brady?
I just, I don't get it. Like who needs the power struggle? Deion is pretty autonomous for what he does now. Yeah. He has an athletic director.
Yeah. The school has a president, but when it comes to football, you can pretty much go around and do what the hell he wants to do. So Deion can say, you know, dream scenario because he knows is unlikely. Like this is not LeBron James and even LeBron James at 40 who had a ridiculous dunk the other day, by the way, at 40, you know, we heard this, Oh my God. Well the team, if they want to try to get LeBron James and free agency, they should try to bring in Bronny and you know, that's bait. You bring in Bronny, you get LeBron. I mean the Lakers, they like making money. They ain't bringing Bronny James to win a championship. They, they brought in Bronny to make LeBron happy and to make more money and keep them around.
That's it. One for a championship is kind of at the same level, but probably right below. You can't do that in the NFL. You can't bring in the Shiloh to pair up with Chidor just because you want Deion Sanders coaching the team.
To be honest, I don't, I don't think it's that important. Deion Sanders ain't coaching no offense. You know, he knows how to defend against it. You think about the current NFL, these young hotshot coaches, Deion needs to stay in Colorado. He needs to let his boys flourish. We don't, we don't need Deion in the NFL. Nico, do you, do you think we'll see Deion ever coach in the NFL?
Do I think or do I, should I, or like, or should he? What do you think will happen for, let's do that first. What do you, do you think we'll ever see Deion coaching in the NFL? I do think eventually he is going to go to the NFL.
Wow. Why do you think that? Cause I think, like he said, he wants to coach with his son. I mean, if you think of it, he's really never coached without Chidor, right? Cause he was at Jackson State with Chidor. He's at Colorado with him. Why wouldn't he follow him to the NFL? That seems like the, the path that he's been on. Do I think he should? No. Cause I think what he's building at Colorado and the improvements that he's made after year one has been phenomenal.
So why throw all that away? But I do think based on the trajectory that we've seen so far, he's probably going to go with Chidor. Hmm. Well, that's something that he's also said in the past as well. Deion has said, I'm not following my son. That came out of his mouth, Nico. He says, I am not following my son's.
Now we heard what he said on Good Morning America. He would only go to the NFL if he was going to be able to coach both of them. And so I, you know, he's a human being, right? He's entitled to change his mind. I just don't think unless there's a perfect situation, which there never is any NFL, I find it hard that he'd leave. I don't know.
That is one of the, I don't want to call it one of the biggest mysteries that we have. He's going to be in Colorado, I think at minimum for one more year. Deion in the league? I don't know.
If he's in the league, I think he lasts as long as, as Tom Brady in the broadcast booth, which I don't, I don't think is long. Some wild stuff. Now you, you asked on the back end, you, well, you answered that. You said you don't think it's a good move.
Well, I don't. Yeah, I agree with that. I think he's better off staying where he is, but Deion is such a star. He will exit stage left, I think before things get bad in Colorado. So we'll see. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. Speaking of coaches, there's an NFL team that does not have a coach. They have a quarterback.
They're paying him more than $50 million a year. He got a busted shoulder and he has an idea as to who should coach the team. I'm going to tell you what Trevor Lawrence had to say about the Jaguars and their open position on the other side of the break. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. Man, cold as ice is how I would describe tonight's semifinal matchup at the Orange Bowl between Notre Dame and Penn State. Cold as ice. It's about nine minutes to go in the first half of this game. Penn State has three.
Notre Dame has zero. Riley Leonard has already thrown an interception with about four minutes to go in that first quarter. Riley Leonard, and you just, you just heard this. Thank you to Rich Ackerman, but I just got to put a stamp on this because I'm in the commercial break and I'm having a little bit more of an opportunity to look at this game and I'm just like, oh, Riley Leonard, 4 of 8 with that turnover, that INT. Drew Ahler, 4 of 11. This is, this is, we knew it was going to be ugly. And we got dropped passes and interceptions.
Can we get a little bit better quality football in this? This is what Hickey stayed home to watch. Oh, good for him. Nico, you impressed by any of this? No, not at all.
I think the winner of tomorrow's game smokes whoever wins tonight. Oh, ouch. Yeah, I would agree.
Because they can't, they can't keep up offensively. Exactly. Not at all. And we've had a lot of talk just over the past couple of days. Oh, well, we got him up.
Nope. Nice, nice run there. Nice run by Penn State. Drew Ahler is, we could talk about his physical attributes. Oh, he needs to go to college.
No, not stay in college. He needs to go, probably needs to do what he said he's going to do and just come back for a third season. Like there's, I don't, I don't see where the, the big discussion is. I mean, we, we're, we're far and away from a place in sports right now, not sports, but the NFL, where you draft a guy and you just, you let them sit, you let them soak.
It's not intentional in most cases. You know, what the Falcons did this year with Michael Pennick Jr. is, is unusual. And then they ended up starting him. You know, JJ McCarthy, would he have even seen the light of day if JJ McCarthy didn't get hurt? Because it seemed that JJ McCarthy was being primed to potentially start at some point throughout the course of the season.
So having Ahler in the NFL and just, just throwing him to the wolves, I don't even think the guy would have played at any point next season. But what do I know? He has this game continues on, he throws four and five touchdowns and everybody falls in love and now he's the, the flavor of the month. But this game is even, it's, it's worse offensively than I think anybody would have, would have expected. So we'll keep you up to date. Penn State right now leading Notre Dame three to nothing, about seven and a half minutes to go here in the first half of the game.
I mean, at this rate, Nico, with all of this non-scoring, if they can just let this clock run, and I'm joking, but damn it, by the time our show is over in about an hour time, so might this game be, you know, the pace they're going. Not, not good at all. And speaking of college, this is, this is bad. This is sad. I feel like the last time I saw Trevor Lawrence look good was in college.
Like on a consistent basis, that's, that's the reality. It's at Clemson. Trevor Lawrence is a quarterback from right here in Georgia, played up at Clemson, number one overall pick. Unfortunately for him, he was drafted to a team that, I'm not going to say they destroy quarterbacks. They just have a crap owner in shot con. Was going through GMs and it's going through Urban Meyer, now firing Doug Peterson and had Marrone.
It's just bad. And then you think about Trevor Lawrence and his injury history. He did a press conference today where Trevor Lawrence is standing around in a sling, not necessarily the image that you want to see with your starting quarterback in January. You want to see him getting ready for a playoff game, you know, not giving a post-mortem on what the season was and what the team needs to do to move forward. But that's exactly what Trevor Lawrence was doing with his arm in a sling. Because once again, he ended a season hurt in the Jacksonville Jaguars, not in the playoffs. They just fired their head coach.
They're holding onto their miserable ass general manager Trent Balke, who shot con pretty much said, yeah, if a coach came in and gave me a good reason why I should fire him, I will. That's what shot con said. I am not joking. That's what he said.
Not in those words, but that's what he said. Trevor Lawrence is the player face of the organization. This is the guy making what, almost $55 million a season. One of the highest paid players in the league who can't even get to the post season on this crap scene. And Trevor Lawrence, I don't know if this was a cry or a plea for help. He pretty much said we need a head coach in here who is going to light this place up and invoke confidence.
Listen to what Trevor Lawrence had to say. I think from a leader standpoint, whether it's an offensive coach or a defensive coach, just the guy that's going to instill that culture, that toughness into our team. And just that confidence that it doesn't matter who we're playing, when we're playing, just spot the ball and we can beat anybody.
And just a tough team that other teams don't want to play against. So I think all of that, we need to get back to that. And whether it's offensive or defensive, that's, I think the most important piece. But yeah, of course, obviously I'm biased with the offensive thing, but whatever, whoever it is, just that mindset I think is important. Oh man. Is that the coach's job?
Like y'all are professionals. The general manager's job is to go out there and get the best players that he can. That would be Trent Baalke. He didn't, he didn't, he didn't do that. Has he?
He hasn't done that at all. This is a man he looked Aiden Hutchinson in the face. He decided to draft Walker instead.
Aiden Hutchinson looks like he's building himself that what, what, what is going to be a hall of fame career. That's just one mistake, man. You got the owner of the team who's saying he's a mistake. And Trevor Lawrence wants a head coach who's going to come in and instill confidence. And I don't know what does he want him to do next?
Hand out lollipops and sing songs and kumbaya. Nah, man. Y'all are getting paid big money. You Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, you, you, you can't shoulder all of the blame, but you've been hurt. And times when you have played, I thought you were going to be a game changer. That's what you were drafted number one overall for. When you look at the top quarterbacks in the game, when I look at the, the Mahomes of the world, yeah, he's the top of the top. You're Josh Allens, you're Lamar Jackson's.
We know that franchises can sink you. If you're a quarterback, there comes a point in time where you got to help elevate and he's, he hasn't even been available to do that. We can't just blame the offensive line. We can't just blame the terrible ass coach like Urban Meyer. We can't do any of that.
He has to shoulder some of the blame too. And so before he starts answering questions about the coach, I wouldn't even delve into that. Hey, that's, that's above my pay grade. That's not my job.
Yeah. Doug Peterson is no longer here. The organization is going to find a coach who they feel is going to best lead the way, but I need to go ahead and do better myself. Us. We, the players need to do better. Pass the buck. That's what he did is pass the buck. Stop passing the buck. I should say, and focusing on what you can do.
Everybody always looking for the next thing. I mean, we got, we had a quarterback this year on the opposite. Let's look at Brock Purdy. Brock Purdy just, just about missed every pertinent offensive weapon at some point throughout the course of the year, Christian McCaffrey dealing with the calves and the Achilles issues.
I uke for all of the nonsense that this man just spewed and trying to get himself a new contract. He blew out the ligaments in his knee. Deebo Samuel looked washed. I mean, the wide receiver that they got out of Georgia, Ricky Pearsall, this guy got shot in San Francisco and Brock Purdy.
Yes. On a solid team all here, by the way, his top offensive lineman, Trent Williams was hurt at the latter portion of the season. Brock Purdy still showed up to work and had himself a decent year. You know, Brock Purdy don't wake up and complain about nothing. I get it. He's Mr.
Irrelevant. The last guy selected in his draft class. Meanwhile, you got Trevor Lawrence selected number one, making $55 million. And he's telling everybody what he wants to see in a head coach.
Like, like spare me. There's a reason at the San Francisco 49 is love Brock Purdy and damn it. He might make more money than Trevor Lawrence.
That's that's a reality. A matter of fact, yesterday, John Lynch sat right next to Kyle Shanahan and the two of these guys basically told everybody. Yeah, we know we got to start paying Brock Purdy, but Brock Purdy deserves it. And we want to get his contract done and out the way as soon as possible. Well, listen, I think what we know about Brock is that he's our guy. We've got, you know, we have interest in Brock being around here for, for a long, long time. And he's done so much for our organization. He's won big games and, you know, had a little tougher task as we all did this year with some of the things that happened throughout the course of the year, we just never could string games where we were all together. And through that he continued to lead, he continued to play at a high level. So we have every interest in him being around.
It's it's tough. What do you pay him? There was no anticipation outside of internal belief and thought that he would be in a position to be one of the top paid QBs in the game. A couple of seasons ago, he was, he never saw the field.
This season didn't end in a postseason berth for the 49ers. He didn't get a chance to leave him with no doubt that they would go back to a Super Bowl and he deserves to be paid in that 55 to 60 range. But what number is he going to get? Is he going to go past Dak Prescott? Is Brock Purdy going to make more than 60 mil a year? I don't know about that. I doubt it. Is he going to be happy enough just to say, Oh yeah, sure.
I'll take the 50. I'm sure he'll get paid a lot of money upfront for what he's done for the discount that he's not taken, but for his draft status. But you won't hear Brock Purdy complaining about anything.
I think Trevor Lawrence should take a page out of his book. Just show up to work. Let your bum-ass organization be a bad one, but don't walk around like you don't, you don't have nothing to do with how bad they've been.
