We've already been hanging out for an hour. Hey, we talked about the return of Jacob Mizerowski. Back on the mound tonight? Helping the Brewers try to get to their thirteenth straight victory on the season. against the Cincinnati Reds.

We talked about Michigan. the punishment, the fine, of between twenty and thirty million dollars. Oh, yeah, and Jim Harbaugh, he's in the NFL. He doesn't have to worry about anything. He's gone.

Okay? Justin Herbert. getting ready to play in his first preseason game to morrow evening, and then here, right down the road from me, I can jog there, I can jog and come back. The Atlanta Falcons getting ready to have their first Home game against the Tennessee Titans. This should be a fun one.

They've been scrappin' all week. On his pass to Troy with his championship belt. Man, we got so much to get into. In about twenty minutes from now, we are going to have a conversation with Bill Bender from the Sporting News. That'll be a lot of fun.

We'll talk about everything going on in college football. Apparently Gruden wants to coach in college. What? And Denzel Washington is mad. About what talking heads in sports, he is so we got a lot to get into.

A lot to discuss. If you want to be a part of the show you can. Here's the number 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4. four.

I S N. You can find me online everywhere at JR Sport Brief. If you missed the first hour of the show, Hit rewind or On the free Odyssey app. It's really that simple.

Okay, thank you for listening live on your local affiliate. You got SiriusXM, it's channel 375. And if you have a smart speaker, Be smart. Ask the speaker Talk to the machine. Demand.

That at play The infinity. Sports. network. We got so much more to get into. What a day, what a day, what a day Talked about Herbert and that first preseason game.

And there's more action. There's so many more storylines. It's not all just about Michael Parsons not getting paid and Cam Hayward wanting to be paid and Terry McLaurin looking for a contract as well. Everybody wants to get paid. I want to get paid.

Bacha wants to get paid. Botcha, when you leave here, you don't You don't rob banks though, right? That's not how you get money. No, no, no. Not yet, of course.

Okay, right.

Soon. It's coming soon. Coming soon. Yeah, everybody wants money. And there's more going on in the NFL.

This is the good part. Two weeks from now? little more than two weeks from now. We're going to get to the action. We won't have to hear about the players and their contract demands.

You know that James Cook got his money earlier this week, so now he's happy. Everybody's gonna get paid. Except for me and you, but the players they will get paid. Even Trey Hendrickson will go out there and get paid. You know, out outside of the game that I mentioned before the break, We talked about the battle of LA in the preseason.

The Los Angeles Chargers and the Rams. We got the Chargers getting ready. To put out Justin Herbert in his first preseason game ever. He's either been hurt. There's been no preseason because of COVID.

Or his old coach, Brandon Staley's just like, eh, we don't need to put him out there. Why risk him getting hurt? Because he's going to get hurt anyway. And so, outside of that, We have some other unique matchups given where we are on the calendar right now. In a matter of minutes, here in Atlanta, the Tennessee Titans are going to take on the Atlanta Falcons.

Of course, the big story is. Kirk Cousins is still on ice. For the Atlanta Falcons. He is the highest paid backup quarterback the NFL has ever seen. And if something bad happens to any quarterback at any point in time, That team is likely to break glass in case of an emergency and try to acquire.

Kirk. Cousins.

Now, by the way, there's no guarantee here in Atlanta that Michael Pennix Jr. is going to be the second coming. And so, if Michael Pennix Jr. does not work out and Kirk Cousins is still on the team, I would not be shocked. If they went ahead and said, Hey Kirk, It's your time to shine.

get back in there. Michael Pennix junior last year. In five games?

Well, Three touchdowns, three interceptions. Didn't look horrible. Nobody's going to say that he looked terrible, but he didn't necessarily knock anybody's socks off. And at the same time, tonight with the Tennessee Titans in town. This would be a fun one, okay?

Cam Ward. is going to be in the building.

So we have a rookie quarterback. And in essence, Pennix has been here for a year. He's still a rookie, getting ready to kind of start. His first season. And they've had joint practices all week between the Tennessee Titans and the Falcons.

And Michael Pennix Jr. even got in on some of this. This fight in action, he ended up on the ground. Nobody wants to see the Q B. on the ground.

I don't care if it's practice, a joint practice. Nobody wants to see this. Listen to Michael Pennix Junior talk about what happened with the fight. I really don't know if I'm being honest. Um competitive through a through a deep pass.

Um they had a lot of words throughout practice, so I gave my words and Just went a little bit too far. I don't know. I just, I was, I was, I was somebody else. I don't really remember. DJ said it was a sign of.

Brotherhood, that the whole team came over to help you out of that situation. Yeah, no, for sure. Like, I'm glad they did because. Obviously, that's not something that we want to be doing in practice. We want to get our reps in, get that good work in.

But it went how it went. But to see the team have my back and they were there to make sure they protected me. A lot of guys asked me if I was good, and it was good to know that those guys got my backs. Oh, that's nice. Falcons are like a family.

I hope their defense acts like a family and tries to stop somebody. The offense should be absolutely amazing. Bajon Robinson and You got Drake London, Kyle Pitts, if he ever decides to turn the engine on. Yeah. Falcons should be good this year.

They should be better than what they were last year, especially on the defense. You think about Pierce coming out of Tennessee, being able to get the quarterback. The Falcons should Should. Be better. Defense, please show up.

On the other side of the ball, everybody anticipating Cam Ward. It's so much worried about Shador Sanders and what he will do, what he won't do.

Well Cam Ward was the guy selected. At number one, Overall. People are looking to see what Cam Ward could do. Every story is about how he shows up at five, five thirty in the morning, how he beats the coaches, how the coaches are telling him that he needs to get the heliporn out the building. This is a fun situation.

I am rooting for Cam Ward, because it seems to be all about Football. Cam Ward He said with this team that we had, Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, myself he's like, man, I think we could be one of the best scoring teams in the whole league Just the playmakers that I have in the backfield with me, the running back core, then especially in the receiving core. I think I honestly have a top five receiver core in the NFL, including the young guys who are able to make plays. It's really all about just us or myself putting the ball in their frame of work, letting them make a play. And then it's also those guys being aggressive to make plays for the team.

And then the O-line, I don't have to worry about them. That's gonna always be the standpoint. Those guys, they bring the energy every day, especially starting with JC.

So I'm excited to be behind those guys. Those guys pass protection, they keep me clean. No, well, I we gotta wait to see what happens in the regular season, okay? And speaking of uh of anything. Eastern stick.

is starting today's uh preseason game. For the Atlanta Falcons, not Michael Pennix Jr. A little bit of a disappointment, dare I say. Anyway, we got more NFL preseason action. Like tomorrow.

I told you about Shadora Sanders. We know he's out with an oblique injury. Who is starting against the Philadelphia Eagles? Who's gonna go out there? And kind of get a head start now that Shadora's hurt.

Kenny Pickett's been dealing with a hamstring. Dylan Gabriel's been dealing with a hamstring. These guys have been back. You do not want Old Ash Joe Flacco out there in the preseason, maybe until the final game of the year. And so who exactly is going to start?

Head coach Kevin Stefansky of the Cleveland Browns. He was asked whether or not we'll see Dylan Gabriel get his chance. Listen. We gotta see how he does today and gets through.

So not not ready to say for sure. What about Pickett today? He will be limited, yes. And if Dylan doesn't start, I mean, you're really your only other option then is for Tyler to start again, right? We'll work through all those things.

Obviously, you know, Snoop knows exactly what to do, how to do it, so is ready to roll. We'll see who else is available, Mary Kay, but gotta get through today before I know that. Yeah, Snoop is Tyler Huntley, who they just basically signed off the street because of all of their. Quarterback's being hurt, man. That's it.

It's time to see the quarterbacks play. The battle of the backup quarterbacks. I mean, how about this? Even if we go to. New York This used to be called the Snoopy Bow.

I don't know if it's still the Snoopy Ball. MetLife Stadium, Snoopy. It's the New York Giants. and the New York Jets. Two teams playing and representing New York That play in a stadium a giant air conditioner.

In New Jersey. The stadium looks like a massive air conditioner. And so here we have JAXON DART Who is going to get the start? for the New York Giants. New York Giants have a very interesting quarterback room.

You have Russell Wilson, You got Jameis Winston. Who's he's never met a microphone or a quote. He's never met a microphone that he won't give a quote to. And then you got Dart. This man is trying to fit in.

He wants to be the future quarterback. of the New York Giants, and so he gets a chance to morrow. against the Jets. This is what Jackson Dart had to say. about getting the start in New York.

I can't wait. It's going to be a lot of fun. I hope that the fans come out and they're super passionate. I hope that we can make home filled advantage for us. But I can't wait, and I know that there's going to be a lot of energy for sure.

Homefield advotcher, is there a home field advantage in that dump? Uh is there any advantage ever? There's never, I think it's more of a opponent advantage. 'Cause there's usually more Cowboys, Patriots, Bills fans than New York fans. Yeah, I mean, but it's two.

What are you talking about? It's two New York teams in a preseason. I'm just saying any team.

Well. It's preseason, so nobody really cares. At MetLife this year. Yeah. It's going to be an equal amount.

Of Jets and Giants fans, wouldn't you say tomorrow? About equal. Technically, it's a Giants hold. home game.

So the the people who have the season ticket plans And even they're giving everybody gives their tickets away in the preseason. Yeah, so it'll be about even. But if you're talking regular season, that stadium is horrible for home field advantage. Uh Uh I don't know about that. Maybe in recent years because both teams have sucked, right?

That's an easy way to do it. Yeah, but when when they are good It works. Like the first week they got Rodgers, it was loud for the Jets. But after that, it's literally filled with people from the other team. Because both teams suck.

I mean, that's an easy thing. to take a look at. Even as we continue on looking at both of these two teams, that absolutely stink. We gotta see if Justin Fields is gonna get a chance. And speaking of teams that stink.

How about this? Oh my god. This is gonna be a rough one. Jacksonville at New Orleans. Tyler Shuck, how is this guy even going to get a starting job or an opportunity?

I have no idea. And they got a new head coach in Kellen Moore, and he's like, oh, yeah. Yeah, I got to figure out who my quarterback is going to be. Listen to him. Obviously before week one.

Game week, we'll obviously, you know, as soon as we get to that point, we'll pull it off. And whatever day it is, it is. But again, we want to give these guys as many opportunities as they can just because they're younger guys. They need experience. They need exposure.

There's some things they're doing for the first time, maybe the second time. And so we just need time on task for them. Man, he's trying to figure out who his quarterback is between Tyler Shuck, who they just drafted, and Spencer Rattler. The Saints are going to be one of the worst teams. They might be the worst team in the entire NFL.

Forget preseason. They're going to be ugly all year long. And speaking of ugly, I mean, there's a lot of ugly comments coming out of Chicago right now, training camp for the Chicago Bears. You got Caleb Williams moving into his second year with a brand new head coach coming over from Detroit, and Ben Johnson. We got Buffalo at Chicago.

That's Sunday night preseason. Why we need a Sunday night preseason game, I have no idea, but we do. And so we're going to see if Caleb Williams can actually deliver a football accurately. You know what? Ben Johnson, the new head coach, this is what he had to say about Caleb missing everything.

Then you set the seventy percent completions target for Caleb. For the season, but also for practice. How often has he been hitting that? How is he doing on that for training camp? I don't have the exact number, but we've been underneath that bar, which.

You know, that that happens. We're we're learning, we're growing. I think early on we were probably 55. It's it's gotten better as camp has gone on, but we haven't hit that threshold as often as we'd like. Oh, okay.

Well, tell me tell me how you really feel. People are looking at Bajan and they're just like, we like him instead. Like, okay, give it a break, okay. Let's see what happens in a regular season. I can't believe we have a Sunday night prime time nationally televised preseason game between Buffalo and Chicago.

And if Caleb Williams sucks, well, people are still giving him a rough time, even though it's the preseason. What are you going to do? Listen, I gotta enjoy the football. While it's here. Things are warming up.

It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Caleb Williams, he's realizing that he is no longer in college. He's making. That adjustment. When we come back on the other side of the break, we're going to talk some college football.

We're going to talk about Michigan. We're going to take a look at the punishment. Was the punishment big enough? Harbaugh's gone. Sharon Moore is getting hit.

The school is getting hit with a fine. We're going to have a conversation with Bill Bender from the Sporting News. On the other side of the break, you're locked into the JR Sport Brief Show, coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Reef Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.

Man, we're getting closer and closer. I'm going to blink, and college football will be underway. And we got anticipation to see guys like Arch Manning. We got championship teams like, well, the champions, like Ohio State. How do they bounce back with everybody who has gone ahead and moved on?

And then we even learned about their foe, Michigan, and their punishment that they received today.

So many questions, and hopefully we get so many good answers. Joining us right now is someone who covers all things college football for sporting news. This sporting news, it's Bill Bender. Bill, how are you? Hey, how are you?

Thanks for having me on. Absolutely. Thank you for the time.

Well, we learned about Michigan and its punishment today, mostly financial, fines of about twenty to thirty million dollars, depending on revenue. We know Jim Harbaugh is not around to be punished. What are your thoughts? Did did Michigan get off easy?

Well, you and I have a better chance of coaching college football than Connor Stallions and Jim Harbaugh anytime soon. I mean, that's one. You and I do all right. Um yeah, we would Yeah, I The fine I think this is a Better punishment than it appears because, you know, the money does matter. 20 million, that's, you could say that's nothing, but it's still a lot.

And then I think the. You're not being able to. Visit recruits. big one to me, even in the portal era.

So and just the The way I would put it, and I live in central Ohio, I think it's just that stain will always be there on that title run. Because Of the sein stealing scandal.

Now, to what degree we can debate all night, but um. That's always going to be there.

So maybe the wins didn't get vacated. Maybe the national title is still there. But it's still a punishment.

Well, I know like you said, me and you got a better chance of coaching in college football than Harlbar and Stallions.

So we don't we don't have to worry about that. We cannot go back in time. You mentioned Ohio State. What's going on with the quarterback situation? Mm-hmm.

I don't think it's lip service when we say it's a battle. And Keenholtz, Julian Saiyan, both super talented guys, and it's close. And they've got to find the right guy to go out there because you're not playing. Ohio University, that's my alma mater, or Grambling to go. You're playing Texas.

You're playing number one, and you're playing a Texas team that went up to Michigan last year and beat them pretty soundly.

So, It's a tough decision. You know, whoever starts, yeah, the receivers are amazing. Jeremiah Smith, how do you cover him? No idea. But the pressure of playing Ohio State, um I've kind of said this for a few years.

I think that's the most pressure-packed position in all of college football because of the guys that came before you. Will Howard, C.J. Stroud, Justin Fields, Dwayne Haskins. Joe Burrow didn't start there and went to LSU. It's a tough job to be the Ohio State quarterback.

you know, the number one priority is you got to go out and play well in the big games. Man, Will Howard after the Michigan game, he played amazing through that playoff run. Yeah, well, we're waiting to see. We know it's a lot of pressure, even for Ryan Day, coming off of a championship. People are like, hey, man, go out there and be.

Michigan.

So we'll see what happens with Ohio State in their quarterback position. We're being joined by Bill Bender from the Sporting News. We know one place there is no quarterback battle, and that's down in Texas, which you mentioned with Arch Manning. We know Quinn Urs is trying to stick to the back of the Miami Dolphins right now, and Arch Manning has a full goal down in Texas. What are you expecting from him this year?

And we heard from his grandpa, Archie. That he's not going to enter into the draft next year. Do you think that's a little bit of lip service, or what are your thoughts on that? I believe it. I'll start there.

I believe it because Peyton played four years. Eli played five. Eli played behind a guy, remember Romero Miller at Old Miss. I mean, that's a dated reference. I get it.

But I mean, those guys stayed and made sure they got enough time that they were ready to be number one picks in the NFL. And a stat I keep throwing out, I'm throwing it out, and I'll probably do it for another year, is. Since 1998, when Peyton was drafted number one, Only two quarterbacks. played one year as a starter. Kim Newton, Tyler Murray, both amazing, right?

They had this amazing, so it would take to me that kind of amazing Heisman trophy type year. Garch Manning to go to the NFL. And I really believe, you know. They've been patient with them. He didn't transfer.

We're going to get the best out of him. And something Peyton Manning, I had an interview with him earlier this summer, that he pointed out, he's had the same coordinator, same coach the whole time. And that matters. Remember, Peyton had the same offensive coordinator, Tom Moore. I don't have the years in front of me, but it was well over a decade.

Wow, well, we're looking forward. Man, I've been wanting to see Arch. From last year, now we finally get a chance. To see what he can do, there's so many quarterbacks that are going to get even more of a chance. Carson Beck is now on a new team.

Kate Klubnick, let's see what he does at Clemson. Garrett Nussmeyer, another year at LSU. But then you run into a guy like Drew Aller, who's moving into another year. There are big expectations on him. Do you think Penn State will take the next step?

Because we don't need to see Drew Aller, you know, throwing the ball away at a pivotal moment at the end of a game anymore. But they got the running backs, they got the talent. I've got all the beasts in place. They're starting number two in the pools. A lot of expectations.

I still think it kind of brings a little bit of what we're talking about here. They got to beat Ohio State, in my opinion. You know, that's the game I circle. Can you go out and beat the Buckeyes for the first time since 2016? If they do that, then we'll start to believe, hey, this team can actually.

He'll win a Big Ten title. He'll win a national title. I thought in the back of my mind last year. as that Notre Dame game was going on. man, if they beat Notre Dame, there's their shot.

Go beat the Buckeyes. And um It just didn't happen that way. But I think James Franklin's done a great job there. He comes under a lot of fire. But they've got to go out and win the big ones this year.

This is the, you know, Michigan did it. Ohio State did it. Kind of reminds me when I was in high school in the 90s. It's this is the year where, in theory, it's Penn State's turn. Bill Bender here with us from the Sporting News.

You you talk about a coach just being looked upon as, hey man, it's it's time to get it together. Is is Brian Kelly on any type of hot seat with L S U? He started off as a joke, turned things around a little bit, but people are expecting more. Yeah, I mean, that Clemson game's huge. They haven't won a season opener in five years.

The big games are there now. Most programs would take 10 wins, 10 wins, 9 wins, but most programs aren't LSU. And Brian Kelly's been winning 10 games for a long time.

So. And when you started talking about a coach that needs to get it together, I knew you were going to say BK.

So. From a perception standpoint, that first game's huge. If they beat Clemson, We're going to be like, man, Garrett and Usmeyer is for real. All those transfers worked. This team can win the SEC.

But they've got to go out and do it. And I know we talk about fit all the time in college football. Does he fit at LSU? It's always a question in the back of my mind. I mean, Certain coaches, it doesn't matter.

Nick Saban fit in Alabama because he won six titles. you can make yourself fit, but I think BK the pressure is to go out and do it. Bill Bender here with us on the JR Sport Brief Show. I feel like we've entered into a new era, and we know from the finances and what have you, the transfer portal, NIL. The parody in college football.

Do you think it's here to stay? I think the excitement of the playoff era is where we got to go. Let's perfect the playoff. Let's seat it properly. They're doing that.

If we want to make it 16, that's fine. It did both for me last year, other than being too long. You get the national championship teams where they should be, but you also get to tell other stories like Indiana, Boise State, Arizona State. Who wouldn't have known who Kim Scataboo was? If not for that run that they made last year.

And I think that's the good thing. We get to tell more stories. I don't know if it's parody so much, it's opportunity and access. And that's important in the playoff. If the old days are gone, I can talk about the 90s all I want.

But those days are gone. You know, the split titles are gone. We want to make the playoff as compelling as possible. And if college football can do that, November will be amazing because teams are trying to get in, and that playoff will be amazing.

Now, the only thing I'll say. Can't go head to head against the NFL that deep. You've got to shorten it just a bit. No, the title game was one day after Buffalo and Baltimore last year. I don't know if that's a risky strategy to me.

Yeah, well we we know they're in it for the cash. It's like, hey, it comes a point in time where even though you got too fat of a pig, you're not going to get the job done. John, I got to ask you this. This story came and went rather quickly this week. John Matier's old Venmo messages.

Is that now something that's gone swept under the rug? Is that actually going to be looked at? What's going on there?

Now they're going to look at it because we know what happened with the Iowa and Iowa State players. And, you know, you just got to be careful. You know, I have a teenage son. I tell him, be careful what you send at all times, you know, and I do the same.

So I think John Matier. Hopefully, he gets to play. I'm hoping that he wasn't actually gambling while he was a student athlete, and I think that's the case. Man, what a talented quarterback he is, and I want to see what he does with that Oklahoma offense this year. You want to talk about a coach that needs to get it together, Ren Venables and the Sooners.

And guess what? Kind of brings this full circle. Michigan's going there in week two to price underwood. I love matchups like that. I want to see more of them, and I hope the playoff era allows for it.

And if John Matir is kind of a Heisman dark horse, isn't he? I mean, if he has a monster year, he can do it. He can throw the ball, he can run the rock, and then he can gamble on it too.

So we'll see. Yeah, I mean, that's a combination. But, you know, I do think they are an interesting team. The SEC has 10 teams in the pool. Any one of them from three through 10, that can change any given weekend.

And guess what? Eight A's. We got week zero. We got Iowa State, Kansas State, Dublin. Nothing's more college football than that.

Yeah, you you got that right. Looking forward to it. Hey, Bill, thank you so much for the time. Hey, please tell everybody where they can follow you and all of your writings and work with the Sporting News. Yeah, I'm at Bill Bender92 at SportingNews.com.

And, you know, I know we'll be visiting quite a bit during the season. I'm looking forward to it. I really appreciate you having me on. No, no doubt about it. Appreciate it from you as well.

Hey, enjoy what is left of summer, okay, Bill? I will. Thanks so much. No doubt about it. There, Bill Bender from The Sporting News.

Yeah, I can't believe it, man. College, I mean, the Little League World Series is here. We got preseason games, we got the schedules that were released from the NBA and the NFL. You can basically line up. The rest of the year, depending on what you want to watch, when you want to watch it, and you already know when to tell your family.

Leave me the hell alone. Because I got better things to do. I'm going to sit around. And watch sports. You can lay that out all the way from now until, I don't know, April, May.

So here we are, already the middle of June.

Well, excuse me, August. Damn, I wish we were in June. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. Marco, you were supposed to find out about something, Apple TV or something, right? And we have it.

Watching the Brewers getting blown up. That twelve game uh win streak is in danger. Uh-oh, okay, okay, alright, we're gonna find out that score because I can't watch.

Well, I can, but I refuse to pay for Apple TV to get an update on that game and everything else going on in the world of sports. You just heard him. It's a news flash. Here he is, Marco Belletti. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.

I felt that it was just and appropriate.

So thank you so much to Bill Bender for coming through to have a chat with us about college football. Also believes that Arch Manning oh, it's not a lie, it's not a joke, it's not an exaggeration from his his grandpa. Apparently Arch is going to be stickin' around. for all four years of college. Don't expect to see him in the draft next year.

And this is bad. And I feel this is a little bit of a blessing. Not really. But for me it is. I told you before this game even started.

between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds. I wanted to see the return. of Jacob Mizerowski. The game is on Apple T V Plus. I refused to pay for any additional streaming service.

It was only probably earlier this year that I said no more Apple T V for me and I I stopped. I'm not paying for it. I'm not paying for every single service. And so tonight's game is on Apple TV Plus. The Brewers had a chance to win 13 straight games, and as you just heard from Marco Belletti, They just finished the second inning.

The Cincinnati Reds are already beating up on the Brewers. Eight to one. Mizerowski, in his first start back, from a bruised shin coming off the fifteen day injured list. He only pitched one and a third. Gave up five earned runs, struck out three, walked three, had four hits.

And had fifty Four. Pitches thrown. Ouch. Welcome back to the Bigs. Welcome back.

Botcher, I'm hoping that this is just rust. for Mizorowski and not just uh I dunno, still pain in that leg, I hope not.

Well, they didn't have a rehab start for him, which is very questionable for a rookie. And I get it. I get it. You guys are on a hot streak, 12th straight. But maybe you learn a lesson here where it's better to ease your injured pitchers back, like Brendan Woodruff did, and now he's great.

So maybe it's a one one or two start. decline for Miserowski, but it'll be back. Yeah, he'll be fine. Yeah, they just threw him right to the wolves. You know, they were feeling themselves.

They're like, oh, yeah, we won 12 straight games. Let's put our rookie hot shot back out there. And it's just like, oh, okay. All right.

Well, There you go. That's certainly a That worked out for them. Not not not really. 888 710 4ISN. That's 888 710 4ISN.

We talked about a couple of of coaches on the college side who might be on the hot seat. I'll take a look at Brian Kelly.

somehow this man ended up with a a fake Louisiana accent, People are looking at him to finally turn things around. And then, on the other end, well, he might have a job much longer after this year, but we have another guy. He wants to get in. It's a college football. A matter of fact, this guy would like to get in to coaching absolutely.

anywhere. His name? is John Grooden. John Gruden, wants to coach. And we know one of the reasons that he is not coaching is because of those unearthed racist misogynistic emails that he sent Years ago, before he was even in the NFL, back with the Raiders.

He was forced to resign back in 2021 when these emails and documents were unearthed, and he has alleged that the NFL intentionally leaked the documents. He apologized for the things that he said, like saying DeMorris Smith has big giant rubber lips for a black man. It sounds kind of racist to me. Despite that, This man John Gruden said and apologized. Couple years ago, back in 2021, he says, Yeah, I said those things, but I've grown, I've learned.

I am not. Racist, remember this? All I can say is, I'm not a racist. I can't tell you how sick I am. I apologize again to D.

Smith, but I feel good about who I am and what I've done my entire life. And I apologize for the insensitive remarks. I had no You know, I had no racial intentions with those remarks at all. No, no ra well, the the the the remarks are inherently racist. Maybe he doesn't understand that.

I don't know. And he also has argued for years now. He's sued the NFL, and now his lawsuit is continuing on. You got a bunch of courts that are saying. Hey, listen, man, you can go ahead and sue the NFL because If you are no longer in the NFL, How are you still in the jurisdiction?

of the league. Like, this is what Gruden is arguing against. And then, on the other hand, it seems that he is more and has been more upset. With the emails being leaked, and less about the content. of the emails.

Which is just kinda ask backwards if you ask me. What's worse? The NFL leaking the emails of the nasty, disgusting things you said, or the fact that they just were released? I mean, this is a legal fight that he's been on. And so he is trying to get back into the coaching ranks.

And so it's been reported. That he was right here in Georgia, right down the road from me at Athens, home of Kirby Smart and all the young students who like to. drive their fast cars one hundred miles per hour. He was meeting with Georgia. And he reportedly said The only reason I really came here is I want to coach again.

I'm being honest with you. I do not bleep either. I want to coach again. I would die to coach in the SEC. I would love it.

I would bleepin' love it. Can can we be shocked? Can we be surprised? Gruden. is a coaching lifer.

John Gruden is someone who coaches. I mean, he's spent the past couple of years What what with a YouTube channel? Trying to encourage people to coach. You know, before he got Before the dumbass Raiders gave him a 10-year contract, that's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in my life. Man, I know.

Al Davis is like, what is my kid doing down there? Anyway, before Mark Davis, gave him this massive contract, and before the emails came out, He was on E S B N. Talking to QB's. I don't think John Gruden knows anything else. But football.

And so naturally he would want to be back in the S C C. Damn it, if there was an opportunity in the A C C he would be there as well. If there was a chance There was a chance for him to coach in the NFL. He'd be back there as well. Yeah.

I just don't know. If you're in a legal battle with the NFL And you're saying that they went out here and leaked your emails and Y you might as well be good as as Colin Kaepernick. Connie Kaepernick ain't getting back into the league them days are over, and he's old.

Okay, you fight the league, you took the money. Yeah. They got you by you know what's now. It's the same thing with John Rudin. I think the said things that he said were were abhorrent.

There's no doubt the things that he said were racist. I don't know if he's a racist. I don't know the man. But I can tell you the things he said they were racist. And s if he's saying that in stupid emails like a dumbass, then that's his fault.

But he got caught and he wants to sue the NFL, and he's more concerned with the messages being leaked. than the context of what he said. He has apologized. Has he done anything else? I don't think so.

Doesn't appear that he feels that there's a problem. He's repented. I have no idea, but I'll tell you this. I don't think we're going to see Gruden. back in the NFL.

not while this legal process is over. or until it's over. As long as this is open. As long as he's trying to shake down the league, as long as he has judges going, you know what? You're right.

The NFL is an unfair entity. You you shouldn't be beholden to their punishments. You're no longer in the league. Unless he shuts that book. We won't see Groonin.

in the NFL. He might make it back to college. where he's been a Wide receivers coach at Pitt, Where he started his career, he was a tight ends coach at Pacific. He was a grad assistant at Tennessee. He's never coached at the highest level.

of college. But hey, if you want a blueprint We see what Belichick is doing, and all things considered, John Grudin, is not old. John Grudin, He's turning sixty two years old. in two days. He ain't old.

He could be back in the NFL. He can go to college if he wants. I just don't see an immediate path back to the NFL at this point in time. Botcher, do you think we'll see John Gruden in the league again? No.

I think. like you said, when you go out of your way to blame the league for something that you did. they immediately put you on a list that never Nick Haludin basically said, You're not going to be back here. That's why he's aiming for college, because I think we all know. Deep down.

A college football team will take a chance on him eventually. You already know he got a job in Barstool Sports as a media head for millions of people.

So I don't. see how another school or another network or anything will not hire him. It's just how high can he get? That's where he's trying to feel out. That's why he went to Georgia.

That's where he's like, oh, let's get to the best conference in the SAC. It's just when will it happen, not if. Yeah. Oh, you think he'll definitely end up coaching a college program? If he wants to, he will.

It depends. Like, I don't know how... How he wants to go, if he takes a low D1 offer. Like a Colorado. I could see him coaching immediately.

Oh, absolutely. No, absolutely. And I think that's exactly, I think that's on the lower end. Because we know if he ends up at one of these schools, even at, let's say, Dion says, I can't do this anymore, my health isn't where it is, and he steps in, we know that a Colorado would just be the start for John Gruden, or maybe it'll be the end-all, depending on the success. But yeah, it's a.

It's a hard path back to the League when you are fighting them legally. I mean, well, we've talked about this on the show. We got James Dolan, the owner of the New York Knicks. He won't let in. Entire law firms are from any any company that is in current litigation against any of his properties.

So you could be a staff lawyer. In a firm with 100 lawyers, and you could be not even working on the case, you'd be banned from going to Madison Square Garden, and you would have nothing to do with some guy who slipped and fell, and the lawyer is representing you, and this guy is in another state.

So, look, people get tricky when it comes to lawyers. The NFL is worth billions of dollars. If you want to fight the NFL, they're just going to be like, hey, man, screw. You. And John Gruden, good luck Good luck coaching in the college ranks because, yeah, you'd have to settle with the NFL or shut up.

and try to get a job. I mean if Belichick can't get a gig. I don't know. I don't know if Gruden's getting one. Probably better off in college at this point.

It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're gonna take a break when we come back. John Gruden might be mad at the NFL. We're gonna hear from Who's this? We're gonna hear from Denzel Washington.

Denzel Washington is mad at the sports media. For what? We're going to learn why on the other side, it's the JR Sport Reeshow Coast to Coast, the Affinity Sports Network.
