It is. The JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody for being tuned in, for being locked in all over North America. I hope you had a great Thursday.
I hope that you didn't get traded. Unless it's something that you wanted. The Major League Baseball trade deadline, it came, it went. three hours ago. Yankees are adding pieces.
The Padres are adding pieces. The Mets have added pieces. The ranges of added pieces. We'll talk about them. Momentarily.
How about this? This man has nothing to do with Major League Baseball, but Terry McLaurin He has requested a trade From the Washington Commanders I guess that contract isn't coming in fast enough. I guess they're not offering enough money. The deal isn't to his liking. Even though I don't expect him to be traded, I think it's all.
A negotiating ploy. The NFL is back in business. We have our first preseason game for 2025, the Hall of Fame game. between the Los Angeles Chargers. and the Detroit Lions.
Uh Yeah, Herbert's not playing. Stafford's not playing. I could go down the list. Kyle Allen is playing. He threw some interceptions.
He's in. He's in rare form. He's in normal form. Let's see what Hendon Hooker can do for the Lions. Let's see what Trey Lance can do.
For the Chargers, those are the reasons to really watch, okay? And we have more to do as we're here on the show as well. At the end, of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. We're going to hear from some of the Hall of Famers that will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. of this weekend.
And so we have a whole lot more to do. Before we roll out. If you want to be a part of the show. You can call. like our last miserable caller, Rashawn from Baltimore.
mad about the Orioles, mad about the Ravens. Mad about everything. Thank you, Rashawn. Anyway, if you want to call me, you can. Eight eight eight.
A seven ten. 4ISN is the number. That's 888-710. four I S N If you have access to the internet, It's 2025. I hope you do.
Not everybody does. You know, sometimes it'd be nice to none sometimes. Anyway, you can find me online at... JR Sport Brief. I'm on X slash Twitter.
All these years later, it's people still refer to it as Twitter. Why not? It's going to be Twitter forever. Probably. I'm on Instagram at JR Sport Brief.
I'm on Facebook. At JR Sport Brief. It's kinda crazy.
Now that I think about it, I check my messages. Not every single day. I think most people, you know, you want something from me. I give you the phone number. You can call, you can email me.
Botcher. Hey, shout outs to our producer Ryan Botcher and uh in New York City. Botcher When I go ahead and and check my spam like once a month or so, Do you know how many people like will direct message me? about a topic that I talked about on air. I've never gotten that.
But you talk a lot more than me, so I I would usually ignore it if I were you. Oh, damn. No, no, no, no. Did you just tell me to ignore the listeners? No, no, no, no, no, no.
I'm assuming they're like hate comments. No, they're not hate. Why are you assuming they're hate comments? Because there's a lot of hateful people in this world. Ah, there's a lot of hateful people.
But and you know what? Not everybody's gonna like you. There w which is an understood. I would say the vast majority. of people that I've ever interacted with in the sports space.
You know, they like the JR Sport Brief. I'm very happy to say, for a guy who started his career on YouTube. I didn't I didn't get hate, botcher. It's like 98% positivity on the like factor on the JR Sport Brief videos, man. You know, so.
Uh my point isn't so much about hate don't open them. It's just that for all the ways that people can reach me. Why the heck do they want to do it on the side privately? And it'll be like, hey, you know, I agree, disagree what you said about Joe Flacco. And I'm like, Okay.
Thanks. I see it like two months later, so I'm like, why did you message me? Why didn't you just I don't know, tweet me or call the radio station. I don't know. They get a little scared.
Scared of what? I don't know, maybe they're mutuals mutual followers seeing it. But it's weird because it's a good way to promote the show. I don't know, but I'm here on the radio. If it's I'm talking.
And so, if you want to say something and have more of an interaction, you can just call me. I get it if you can't call. You know, you're at work, you're driving, your wife is a pain, never mind, your kid is a pain in the ass. I understand it. You know, I mean, shout outs to all the wives.
The wives, I'm not saying wives message me. That's not what I'm saying. But we have women who call up and appreciate the show. Come on, man. Anyway, 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Shout outs to all the wives. I love the wives. Bacha, you love wives? Nope.
Oh, well, like as a platonically, yes. Relationship-wise? No, 'cause that's bad. It's it's bad to not it's bad to like a wife. Unless it's your own.
Don't be liking other people's wives. Why can't I like the wives who talk to me? Why can't I like them? I like them. I appreciate them.
Not romantically. Oh, yeah, I'm not romantically liking anybody's wife. That's called a is that adultery for me if I do it? Is it adultery for me? Yeah, I would group it in the same thing as adultery.
I'm not committing adultery. You're committing a moral sin. Oh dear, ouch Or something like that.
Okay, thank you, Bacha. You're trying to.
Well, I don't have to worry about that, by the way, okay? But you make it sound even w oh, never mind. Thank you, Bacha. I appreciate you. The moral compass of the show.
Anyway. Um People got traded today. There's a lot of trades that went down. like the Padres who decided to revamp I feel like they're whole. Damn.
Yeah. Padres are like, how many more people can we cram into the bullpen? They got Mason Miller from the A's They also got JP's fears. They got Nestor Cortez from Milwaukee. AJ Preller has not met a trade that he does not want to make.
as general manager of the San Diego Padres. This is what he had to say about adding a guy like Mason Miller. Into the bullpen. Listen to this. I think adding to his strength, and I talk to Shilty about it a lot.
We talk about it as a group. I think it's it's also about getting impact performers. You know, Mason's an A-lane, you know, type performer, one of the best in the world at what he does. And like we've seen so far, you know, through the first hundred games, we have an opportunity to shorten the game. You want to take that.
Yeah, well, let's see if they could take the lunch money from the Los Angeles Dodgers. They only, what, like, a couple games? behind him. We're going to find out soon enough. And Prella is just going for broke every year, and every year he gets broken and broker.
He'd better win a World Series. He'd better do it soon. And thank you as well so much to a Kyle Glazer. From mlb.com and the foul territory network for joining us to talk about all of these trades. If you missed it earlier, hit rewind on the free Odyssey app.
Also, Let's talk about a reunion. Reunited and it feels so good. Carlos Correa, no longer a member of the miserable Minnesota Twins, He's back, back to where his career started, back to where he won Rookie of the Year, back to where he won a World Series, Carlos Correa. waived his no trade clause. and is on his way back.
to the Houston Astros. Correa. Listen to the man. After the fact he said he is all so excited. to be going back to Houston.
Very happy. I get to come back home and uh you know join join the team that uh everything started with and uh Also because my parents live there and they'll be closer to the kids now and they'll be able to see them every day. Aw, that's sweet. The sweet Bacho, was he on a phone to a phone to a phone? Yeah, so that audio.
Was a Interview with MLB.com.
So I guess right, like literally right after the trade happened, he called one of the Astros' writers. And Just talk to him about moving. He's like, Yeah, this is the only team I would have traded my Turn down my no trade clause. No trade clause for. Nice.
Yeah, he sounds like uh He sounds like somebody who who sends you a hate message.
Well maybe a lo he sounds like Stan from uh that M and M song. Uh Carlos Correa continued on. He talked more about trading that Or waving that no trade clause listen Uh some conversations with the front office in Minnesota and uh We were not moving in the direction that I thought we were after weighing the plane. Yeah. You know, they agreed with me that it was it was time to to move me.
And I let them know that there was only one thing that I would allow that to happen. Oh, that's sweet. Man, can you imagine if we got to see the Astros in the World Series again? No, thank you. Carlos Correa on his way.
Back to the Houston Nationals. He'll be at third base. Good for him. How about this, the team that could never beat the damn Astrals, the New York Yankees? They got some help.
They got Caballero, they traded for the guy during the game in like a rain delay. From the race, Guy got like 34, 35 stolen bases. Yankees also addressed the bullpen. They tap the Pittsburgh Pirates and bring in David Bednar. They go ahead and hit up San Francisco and bring in Camillo Doval.
And so Brian Cashman, he's been active. I mean, yesterday he brings in Slater, he brings in Amet Rosario. Yeah, the Yankees been busy. I don't know if it's busy enough. Do they got enough starting pitching?
I don't think so. D'you think about the bullpen with Williams and Weaver and now Bettnar? Listen to what Brian Cashman, the GM of the Yankees, had to say about his bullpen.
However, Booney shakes it out. I mean, we just added we our intent was not necessarily who's slotting where as much as giving as many quality choices to match up on a daily basis.
Okay. I mean, that's the best you can do. I'm pretty sure Yankee fans are still miserable because Yankee fans are always miserable. A Yankee fan could win the World Series and right after they'd be miserable. Fire cashmere, fire boon, miserable.
Meanwhile the team on the other side of the bridge from the New York Yankees and the New York Mets They made some trades, right? They got mullins and fortified the bullpen. The G M Stearns. Bringing in somebody like Mullins who's going to be a free agent. It's what do you have to say about bringing in guys that may not be around for long?
As we evaluated the market, the players available and what teams were looking for in return for those players, these were the deals that we thought made the most sense for us. We were certainly open and engaged on players who provided multiple years of control. But at the end of the day, these were the ones that we thought made the most sense for our team. I forget about all that. Forget it.
What about the starting pitching outside of Kodai Senga? Like, do you trust the starting pitchers? Were you going to get another starting pitcher? What happened there, David? As we saw, there were some starting pitchers that were ultimately traded.
Probably not every starting pitcher that was rumored to be traded or was available was ultimately moved. And so we were engaged. As I've said throughout, I think there are multiple ways to build a pitching staff. Yeah. Well.
Alcantra from Miami, he didn't get moved. They get moved. Dylan sees from the Padres. They they were moving and shaking. They they didn't move Dylan Cease.
We did see Shane Bieber. He got moved to the Toronto Blue Jays. He's trying to come back from Tommy John. Yeah, a lot of moves all over the place. Late last night.
Suarez ends up going back So the mariners Probably won't make much of a difference. Things have been uh very busy to day. Tons and tons of trades. Let's see what happens. And then also, I told you, speaking of trades, on the NFL front.
It's Harry McLaurin. The man who's going to make what $22 million a year? Holding out from Washington, holding in, not practicing, but back at work after being fined $50,000 every single day. It's been reported a couple of hours ago that Terry McLaurin has formally requested a trade. From the Washington Commanders.
You know what? Let's listen to Terry McLaurin a couple of weeks ago. He's at a car dealership filming a commercial. And he basically said I'm not happy with the negotiations. This is before training camp got started.
Listen. Yeah, I've been pretty frustrated, I'm not going to lie. You know, everything that has transpired up to this point is has been disappointing and frustrating. You know, I've wanted to continue my career here. I've Created my life here.
You know, my wife and I have bought our first home here, so this has been somewhere where I've always wanted to be. And now he wants a trade out of the building. He's been at work for less than a week. He's like, I want to be here. And it's a whole lot of crap because it's nothing but a negotiating ploy, okay?
Miles Garrett months ago said, I don't want to be a Brown. And he has more reasons to not be on his team. His team really sucks. He's like, I don't want to be on the Browns. Here's forty million dollars.
Okay, thank you. We had Lamar Jackson a couple of years ago. Lamar Jackson publicly went on Twitter. and said, I want to be traded. The Baltimore Ravens said, Here, shut up.
Here's $52 million. He said, Thank you. I'll play. I want MVPs for you. Come on.
Debo Samuel, who's now, I guess, actively a teammate. of Terry McLaurin coming over from the 49ers. Before he finally got traded, Debo Samuel was asking for a trade. And the San Francisco 49ers said, Here, man, shut up. Here's some money.
Do I think Terry McLaurin is going to get traded? No. The commanders need to keep in with Jaden Daniels as he moves into his second year. They'd be foolish to let him go. And apparently teams have called and asked about Terry McLaurin.
And the commanders have rightfully said. Yeah. They'll figure out a deal. Come on, they'll get a deal done. He'll get a deal.
Trey Hendrickson will get a deal. And then also Micah Parsons. Come on now. eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. Ronnie is calling from Maryland.
You on the JR Sport B show, Ronnie. What's up? Hey, good evening. Good evening, guys. Thanks for making my call.
Yes, I agree with you. I think you're going to for Terry, I'm a Skins fan, so I want them to sign Terry. I don't want him going anywhere. I don't think Adam Peters is going to let him go. I Jaden's gonna need him.
And after all the crap we've been through the last thirty some years. We can't let this guy go. He's he's been really good standing Upstanding civilian. He's really good in the train of thought there, sorry. He's a really good with the community and stuff.
And I just want to hopefully they can get this taken care of. Thanks for taking my call. I appreciate it. No, thank you, Ronnie, for calling from Maryland. Yeah, this ain't no uh Daniel Snyder team, okay?
If this was Daniel Snyder, I'd be like, yeah, Terry McLaughlin will be traded in two weeks. But nah, this is a new era. Josh Harris, Adam Peters, they're not letting this guy walk out the building. That's what clown organizations do. That's what a dumbass team would do.
That would be. Raider-esque. It's not Raider-esque. A new era in Washington. 888.
Seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. Mark is calling from California. What's up, Mark?
Well, JR, you know, I was just Cruising by today. Today is kind of a tough day because you got the trade deadline and constantly looking at my phone. but I can't look up my phone at work.
So at the end of the day I saw Yanks made a bunch of moves, man, and I'm like I'm pumped, JR.
Okay, I'm pumped, man. I'm just like, listen, because. Pascot always is making moves, bro. I'm not a big fan of Aaron Boone, but I thought literally it would say breaking news, Yanks fired boon. That would be my trade deadline acquisition, but that didn't happen.
Um I'm excited for Bednar, man. I think it's going to be where you put Williams, you put him, Weaver, and Hill. And then on top of that, you got Cruz coming back, Leiter Junior, Lawisega's probably going to get DFA. He's out of a he's out of a option.
So you know, that's off to him. He had a great Yankee career, but That's a crazy pen. And then on top of that, you have Hill coming back. That's going to be your starter. I know Yanks didn't pick up a starter, but It's just the movies they made, dude, ball.
It's like, oh my God, dude, what they gave up for him is like. Nothing. And remember, the Yanks also traded a O Oswald Pereza. Which is Ends his tenure. What about Caballero?
They got from Caballero from the Rays. They got him as a short spot too. And guess what? The reason they did that is because, you know, what's his name? It has like a thousand errors this year.
Evolpe? You know. Yeah, but his offense is there. He's going to hit 25 homers, drive in 90 runs. That's going to be good.
He's raised the batting average from like two hundred twelve up to like maybe two hundred forty. I take that, you know what I mean? The errors is He's playing. He's young. I get it.
People are grilling him for it. I'm like, dude. Yeah, the errors are good until he can't throw the first base.
Okay? Come on, Mark. That's it. No, a lot of the errors he's making is not like, you know, the ball is super hitting. The guy's like, oh my God, I got to make the play.
No, these are just routine plays that he's just missing. Like routine, like the pop-ups, and like literally can't steal the ball.
Well, here, let's get to brass tacks. Do you think the Yankees are going to the World Series? You know what? First, let's talk playoffs. We got to talk playoffs first.
Like they had a ten game lead and they blew it. But I think if you were to match up now with the lead, the Yanks have the lead in the playoffs, I think it's done.
Okay. I don't think their pitching is sold, but we'll see. Yeah, I feel you the same way. Thank you so much, Mark, for calling from California. Yeah, you want to talk about a team that fortified their pitching.
I mean, obviously, you can look at the Padres. You can look at the Rangers, getting Merrill Kelly adding him to the rotation with DeGrom. also a Valdi, Yeah, well We'll see what everybody looks like. where everybody what everybody looks like as we continue on with the season. Only one way to find out, and that's to watch.
It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We come back. We'll talk about this Hall of Fame game. A matter of fact, we'll hear from some of the Hall of Famers, the guys who are actually going in to the Hall. And then of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.
It's the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. I've been told that a time or two. You should hear my conversations away from the radio. You should really hear my conversations away from the radio.
Damn it. Anyway. Eight, eight, eight. Mm-hmm. Feel like Gucci Man in 2006.
Hey, Bacha, who's this? NBA Youngboy. Oh, my god. Is he is he a free man? Uh I think so.
I think he's having his thirteenth kid soon. Oh my god. Thirteen? At least. You g did he have he had a baby with a prison guard?
What happened? No, he just has a a ton of baby mamas.
Well, was he out on bail or something? How did he? I don't know. Yeah, f uh, wasn't he in in protection for a minute too, like house arrest in the mountains or something? Probably.
Knowing what he's Been reportedly done. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. How are you that young and have this many legal? What is he like? 25?
He's got to be close to that because he was popular when he was like 19 or 18. Five years. How do you get into this much trouble when you're 18 and 19 years old? I don't know if we have him. Uh no thank you.
No thanks. Eight eight eight seven ten four IS sent speaking of trouble. A bad transition. Oh, my goodness. Uh we found out yesterday that Shannon Sharp I don't want to say he's been terminated by ESPN, but let's just say he won't be back.
Following his fifty billion dollar settlement of sexual assault to a victim. An alleged sexual assault. We don't know the details, so let me be careful there. Anyway, he settled for fifty mil. And ESPN said Ay, brah, you you good, we good, go elsewhere.
We know he has his own show. He's online, the nightcaps, club Shay Shay, what have you. Shannon Sharp went online last night. And he basically said, Look, Y'all know the news. I knew the news from a couple of days ago.
And he ultimately says he is uh not happy with how the news came out? Um He wished the news just waited until after the Hall of Fame. Let's listen to Shannon Sharp explain why. He says: Look, I get it, ESPN did what they needed to do. I just wish the news didn't come out.
Listen. I'm sure everybody's heard the news by now that I will not be returning to ESPN. I found out this information a little earlier in the week. And really, the only thing that I really ask is: guys, could we. Wait until Monday.
My brother's going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I really want it to be about him and I want it to be about my family. I know this would, I said, this coming out will overshadow everything that he's worked his entire life for. And unfortunately, you know, it didn't happen that way. He's referring to his brother uh Sterling.
Where that That short career with the Green Bay Packers, amazing career. With the Packers. God only knows what he would have been able to do with Brett Favre if he were to last a few more years, would have got himself a Super Bowl ring. But ultimately, as Shannon said, Yeah. I I accept what happened.
I'm not a fan, but I get it. As I profusely apologized to him earlier today, he said, bro, stop apologizing. You don't have to apologize. I'm your big bro. I'm going to love you regardless.
We all make mistakes. We've all, and he says, bro. I love you.
So. I'm done with this. You're done with it too. Move on. Yeah, he ultimately felt bad for his brother.
His brother, he had publicly apologized. His brother already told him, he already told him privately, I'm sorry, and now. Here's what it is.
So his brother Sterling Sharp is going into the Hall of Fame. This weekend, in addition to Eric Allen, Mr. Pick six, Jared Allen, Mr. Sack Yu, and then Antonio Gates, basketball playing as tight end. All four of these individuals are your newest inductees.
into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, under those circumstances, we just heard from Shannon Sharp. about his uh Bacha, what is it? Firing? Is it a firing?
Firing? Firing. He was let go. Yeah, you can't. Let go.
From uh ESPN. Let's listen to his brother. His brother, he didn't get let go. His brother is moving into the Promised Land. He's joining his brother Shannon in the Hall of Fame.
Uh listen to Sterling. He talked to his brother. About pretty much, you know, wide receivers that are similar to him. Listen to this. Yeah, T.O.
and I go way, way back. I want to say T.O. was in high school. when I met T Yoko. Too kinda in a way.
I don't know if he is as. Then I'm going to say physical in a sense. I don't think he loves contact like I did. But T.O., um Maybe Debo Samuels, who's a South Carolina Gamecock, also. Debo just got to stop getting hurt, man.
I need you every day, Debo. But Debo reminds me a lot of me. Anquan Boulder? That's what I was going to say. Anguan Boulder was probably the one.
Yeah, a bunch of beast wide receivers bowl you over. Speaking of bowling you over, Antonio Gates, one of my favorite players to watch, never appeared to be moving in. And warp speed was just bigger than everybody. It's like he would post up, catch that ball. And move, and then you could not bring him down, former basketball player.
But this is what Antonio Gates, former charger, had to say about just helping to change the tight end position. He spoke to Pat McAfee. It wasn't easy because I got cursed out a lot.
So, just so we clear, I got cursed out a lot. I did a lot of off-platform things. And at the time, I think that is what it means to redefine certain things. When you do things off-platform, people don't agree with them at times. I like to use the analogy of.
The enemy of great is good. Hell yeah. You know, so that was kind of what it was for me. I would see guys who did it the right way. And obviously, as a basketball player, I had things that I was used to doing, creating separation.
Yeah, you could watch Antonio Gates and go, man, this ain't no football player, this a basketball player. He's over here posting up linebackers and then shrugging them off. Like he's going to the hole. And then he did, took it to the house. Eric Allen.
Cornerback. Mister, take it to that house. That man would pick you off and then run. the other way. It's been a while.
It took a while for him to get in. He spoke to Pat McAfee. and he's still trying to just wrap his brain around being a Hall of Famer. I think the knock on the door with Randall McDaniel kind of solidified it. Me and Randall went on a recruiting trip to college together when we were 15 or 16 years old.
So obviously Randall one of the best guards in the history of the National Football League. They did a pretty good job hiding it from me. But when I opened that door and saw Randall there with that gold jacket, man, it just kind of like cemented everything, you know, all the hard work, the sacrifice. And that's what this is all about, you know, that journey there. We got we got Eric Allen.
Take it to the house. We got Antonio Gates post him up. And then we got Jared Allen rope him up.
Okay, Jared Allen on his way. Into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well. 136 sacks over 12 years. I hope he wears that cowboy hat during his induction. As a matter of fact, he talked to Pat McAfee about his speech.
So, I started off the top of my head, right? And then the hall is very controlling. They try to be sometimes. They want you to check in. I refuse to check in.
I refuse to be censored. They want you to send your outline. They want you to send it. And I'm like, I will not send a speech until yesterday. No, so I wrote it myself.
It was all up in my head. My wife was like, you might want to actually write it down.
So as great thoughts popped into my head, I wrote them down, organized them. You know what? It's pretty awesome. Maybe. I don't know.
We're going to find out on Saturday night. Sterling Sharp, Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates. all going into Canton, all going into the pro football Hall of Fame. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. That's going to take place on Saturday.
We come back on the other side of the break. We are going to take a look at a few things that took place this day in sports history.
So we're not going forward, we're going backward. But right now, we're going. We're going to a news flash. Sure, he is. Gordon Damer.
You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast. On the Infinity Sports Network Oh, it's been a day. Major League Baseball trade that my Terry McLaurin wants a trade. Hall of Fame gang in the NFL.
Botcha, did I miss anything? Anything? No. McLaurin Hall of Fame game. Nobody cares about Macau Bridges.
Who cares? You know. Ain't nobody cares about him. Anyway. We're getting ready for the actual Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday night.
I wish I could say I was gonna watch it. I'm not watching it. I'm not. Boncha, you gonna sit down and watch that? Nope, because I like you said earlier in the week.
You can just go on X or Twitter and just see the funniest moments or the most emotional parts. How long do you think? And there's only four guys going in. How long do you think that thing is going to be? Three hours?
I would say four. Oh, my God, no, sorry Nope. Yeah. Thing can't be longer than an NFL game. Hell no.
I don't know. I've seen some drawn-out speeches. Oh, my God. Because this is their lifetime achievement. God bless them.
Like, after you thank a couple people, say thank you, and just give an anecdote and leave. Then leave. Then leave. That's uh anyway. It's almost time for me to leave.
Votch is gonna turn my microphone off and tell me to shut up. But before we do that It's time for us to go back in time. to a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back, back, back, back! Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore.
But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything, and it was primitive and lousy, and we liked it. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass.
It is. The JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is July 31st. If we go back to July 31st, 1987, All my people in Baltimore are gonna love this Eddie Murray. He hit his 299th.
He hit his 300th career home runs. And the O's beat the Rangers 8.
So four. This man finished his career with 504 home runs. This man went into the Hall of Fame more than 20 years ago. I want you to listen to MLB. basically break down the greatness of Eddie Murray.
Consistency, durability, and dominance characterized the career of Eddie Murray. One of baseball's most productive hitters from the late 1970s through the 1990s, when he retired Murray was only the third player to have collected both 3,000 hits and 500 home runs. The all-time career RBI leader among Switch hitters, the three-time Gold Glove Award winner at first base was an eight time All-Star and had six consecutive top ten finishes in voting for the Most Valuable Player Award. Murray was a stalwart at first base for 12 seasons for the Orioles, capturing a world championship with Baltimore in 1983. Alleged.
Shoutouts to Eddie Murray. July 31st, 1990, another legend, Nolan Ryan. He won his 300th game. It's becoming rare. Look, he did it on his second attempt.
The Rangers beat the Brewers 11-3. Listen to Nolan Ryan win his 300th game. Arnsberg's pitch, fly ball, center field, this should do it. Pettis makes the catch and Nolan Ryan and the Rangers are victorious. Nolan Ryan, his 300th career victory.
And you can charge up the bus for Coopers now. Nolan Ryan officially has had his ticket validated. Oh man, we take it validated. The guy finished with 324 wins, 12th all-time, and leads the entire world in strikeouts.
Okay, validated, one of the greatest pitchers of all time. He got records that will not be broken, especially a strikeout record. July 31st, 2007. Oh my God, this is almost 20 years ago. Damn.
Kevin Garnett was traded from the T-Wolves. To the Celtics for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Joe Green, Sebastian Telfia, Theo Ratliff, first-round picks. Damn! We know Kevin Garnetti won a championship, couldn't do that in Minnesota. This is what KG had to say about getting together with Paul Pierce.
This is courtesy, NBC Boston. I thought this is probably my best opportunity at winning the ring.
So I took the big steps to make those adjustments and here we are. All three of us were on teams where we were the lone star, made the all-star team, but didn't scratch the playoffs. It was like they were in an elevator on there on floor five. They couldn't get to the penthouse, you know. And perhaps together they could find the right button to get up there.
It feels good to have two big guns on the side of me. It feels real good. It's like being in the Lamborghini doing 200 with your head stuck out the window. That's what this last... You didn't done that before?
I don't have a Lamborghini to begin with. I'm about to say that's dangerous. Don't do that, Kevin Garnett. Leave that for Rashi Rice. Shoutouts to Kevin Garnett.
Maybe Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. I like Ray Allen the best out of all three of them. July 31st. 2012. Michael Phelps He breaks the Olympic medals record by winning 19.
He helped the USA win the 400 excuse me. It's the freestyle. What am I saying? Oh my god. Bacha, help me out here.
The relay, there we go. Was it the relay? The freestyle relay. Yeah, why couldn't I come up with the word relay? What's wrong with me?
He's great by himself, too. Really is a tough word to remember for swimming. Oh, crap. I wasn't there. I was in London during the Olympics when he did it.
I wasn't there. I was probably doing something else I had no business doing. Anyway, listen to Michael Phelps win, courtesy of NBC.
So Michael Phelps here. With Yanak Arniel chasing him home, it's history of the best kind.
So in over 100 years, nobody's won as many medals at the Olympic Games in any sport than this great champion, Michael Phelps. He makes it 19 tonight and a 15th goal. It's a place that nobody's been to before and maybe will never get to again. It's the USA, France, and China. What a moment.
19 medals, what a loser. Michael Phelps finished his Olympic career with 28. He had 19 had the record already in 2012. And that's not the only thing that took place in London. Gabby Douglas.
Michaela Moroney, remember that face she made? Alexander Raceman. Kyla Ross, Jordan Weber. They won the U.S. first Olympic title in gymnastics all around since 1996.
Listen to this, courtesy of NBC. Yeah, a lot of pressure was kind of on me today. I did the all-around and I just want to go out there and just perform like I did how I did on the first day and kind of brush the pressure off and just be my best today and contribute to Team USA as best as I could. And it just feels amazing to come up on top. And I'm so proud these girls did amazing.
So I just feel really honored right now. And shout outs to them. Yeah, winning the Olympics is great, right? I mean, I wouldn't know. I've been to Olympics, I never won nothing.
My only way to get a gold medal is to take one from somebody. And that's it. Anyway, those are a few things that took place this day in sports history. I'm not going to say ironically, Not the appropriate word. We just talked about Michael Phelps.
Greatest swimmer of all time, Aquaman from Maryland, whatever the hell you want to call this guy. Yeah, I made that up myself. Um You know he's a big Ravens fan. The Ravens actually sent him a video. Humphrey, the cornerback, he put a video up.
And he basically said My teammates don't know how to swim. Michael Phelps Can you help us out? Lo listen to this news clip. From WBAL in Baltimore, the Ravens are asking for swim lessons from Michael Phelps. They got an answer, too.
Hey Mr. Phelps, we have a problem. Did you know that one in three Ravens cannot swim? We have a solution for you, sir. Come to Raven's training camp in this beautiful aquatic center and teach us how to swim.
Phelps, obviously a huge Ravens fans responding to that request yesterday, posting on Instagram, I got y'all, let's do it.
Now a swim date has not yet been set. We'll keep an eye on the pool to see if and when the 23-time gold medalist hits the water. That'll be cool, right? How many people can say that they got swim lessons? From Michael Phelps.
Who can say that? That's like if Michael Jordan taught me how to play basketball. That's like Wayne Gretzky teaching me how to, I don't know, score a couple of goals on the ice.
Okay, Bacha, Yurzarn. Go ahead, Yurtsarn. Give me an analogy. Go ahead, Yurtsarn. That's like Michael Phelps teaching you how to swim.

Did Oppenheimer. We didn't do football. Oh, that's like Tom Brady, Adam Vinatari. Kicking a field goal? Yeah.
Okay. I was going to go with Brady, but it's the same premise, the same thing. That's too easy to do, Brady. Too easy, too easy, yeah.
Okay. Well, there you have it. Shout outs to Michael Phelps. Nothing better to do. What does he do besides raise money to help people?
If I was Michael Phelps, you know what I'd be doing? I'd be opening up pools. all over the world, with my face on it. That's it. He ain't got nothing better to do.
