The unit, made up of artists, engineers, and other skilled individuals, was tasked with creating a multimedia mobile deception unit to trick the German army into thinking the U.S. Army was in one place when it was actually in another. The unit's techniques included using inflatable tanks, sound effects, and fake radio transmissions to create a convincing illusion. The Ghost Army's efforts were instrumental in the success of several key operations, including the Battle of the Bulge and the crossing of the Rhine River.
