The early church in Thessalonica was transformed by God's presence, demonstrating characteristics of faith, love, and hope. This church was confident in its faith, knowing that God chose them for Himself, and was joyful despite persecution, receiving the word with much affliction and joy. The gospel changed people's affections, transforming them from the inside out, and the church became a thriving community, with all the problems of a new church but also the passion for God that comes with revival.
