The baptism of the Spirit is a past act that occurs invisibly at the moment of salvation, connecting believers to the body of Christ and making them part of Christ's own body. The Holy Spirit's role is to enable consistent obedience, and believers are called to walk by the Spirit, evidencing the fruit of the Spirit, such as joy, love, peace, patience, and all those things we strive toward. The third wave movement has misunderstood the transitional nature of the book of Acts and confuses the baptism of the Spirit with the filling of the Spirit, leading to confusion and misinterpretation of Scripture.
