The title 'Man of Sorrows' given to Jesus Christ comes from an Old Testament passage written 700 years before His birth. Isaiah 53 describes the Servant, the Lord's Servant, who suffers for our sins, is pierced for our transgressions, and crushed for our iniquities. The man of sorrows suffers silently and submissively, bearing our guilt and shame, and ultimately brings us peace and salvation through His sacrifice.
