However, his life took a drastic turn when his plane crashed in the Pacific, and he spent 47 days in a raft with two other survivors, facing sharks, gunfire, and a wicked storm. After being captured by the Japanese, Zamperini was subjected to brutal treatment, including being interrogated by a notorious guard known as 'The Bird.'
